FifaWorld: Home

2014.08.16 06:04 FifaWorld: Home

FIFA World, which recently entered worldwide open beta, suggests EA Sports sees a future beyond this flawed but successful model. It's a free-to-play FIFA game that is, for now at least, available on PC only, and it consists of an Ultimate Team mode that is extremely similar to the one in the most recent FIFA games and a League Teams mode similar to the main series' Online Seasons. The gameplay engine is a little behind its big brother, but not as far as you might imagine.

2024.05.15 06:06 Orab1g GHWT Microphone not working on PC

Hi. I got my hands on an official Guitar Hero Logitech microphone, but can't get it to work correctly, as the game keeps saying "You must use a microphone".
I'm on PC (Windows XP), and the microphone is perfectly detected by Windows as "Logitech USB Microphone".
I can start the game and pair both guitars (detected as "controller 2" and "controller 3" resp). I've read somewhere that the mic is only detected if the "controller 1" guitar is on, but I don't know if that's true, or how I could rename the guitars.
Any clue ?

2024.05.15 01:53 Amphibian_Basic Windows 10 coming or discarded?

Latest info i had on Arc for windows was that windows 10 support would come later down the line. Now i read a comment on reddit saying there will be no windows 10 at all. What is the reality?
Meanwhile latest data shows windows 11 market sharet reduced (from earlier 28% to now 26%) and windows 10 market share increased, from 67% to 70%...
I have a newly built powerhouse modern PC (beefy for gaming etc) but because it lacks that newly required TPM component i cant even install windows 11- and every other news i see from windows 11 makes me not want to ever shift frankly... and despite microsfot anouncements and push for windows 11 turns out microsoft is literally selling windows 10 pcs (apparently more then windows 11)... as if their sales department is following the actual demand while PR and the win11 team pushes a different narrative.
I was really really hyped when i first saw Arc years ago... but then it was Mac only with invite only, with huge waitlist then i waited a very long time on a waitlist for the windows beta (and not being picked from the waitlist until near its end)... and all that for a very early windows version and windows 11 only (why? waaay too many modern apps install on both win10-11 just fine)....
Frankly, just being sincere and pouring my feelings out here - i went from absolutely hyped fanboy to severely disapointed with Arc- and heck i couldnt even get hands on with it. Looking back my feelings toward Arc more akin to cult-like like Tesla/Elon-musk cybertruck owners. Watched and praised every video and update on features, been on some discussions and even defending some of the teams choices with direction and future plans.
But i cant wrap my head around this choice. I cant defend it. I cant even understand it... Some user got Arc working on windows 10 by just bypassing the setup check/requirment, literally lying to the setup it had win11 installed and... it installed, and worked. Only reason i hadnt tried that is because it was too cumbersome for something i was hoping would be coming around anyway- also because i wouldnt be able to give proper feedback and bug reporting that way, i like being useful with beta tests...
But apparently it wont ever come? I dont get it. Just past month i installed like 3 different newly released native apps for windows that have a single installer and setup to win10 and 11 seamlessly. Microsoft for all its terrible flaws and despite their latest baffling decision with tpm/win11 have a decades long history of back compatibility and so on- i can install some win98/Xp apps, turn on compatibility mode and just run then... for windows 10-11 we havent even reached that point yet.
Ive literally havent seen any app that works on windows 11 only or requirement reasons for doing so.. nothing except the setup for Arc windows beta.
This is probably the last topic/discussion i get on about Arc, unless that changes, or idk, if im really forced to get windows 11 (and able to) or the next one. In any case the hype deflated, the very idea of Arc soured a bit for me. Why are we like that with hype expectations and such even in a case like this where an app/service makes itself unreacheable?
Anyway sorry for the rant, i just felt like i had to mention it somewhere. I wasnt frustrated with microsoft decisions with windows 11, just ignoring it, but i wasnt expecting Arc would go this way - finally 'coming to windows' but in a way it managed to still keep me out of the door. I cant afford a mac (not in my country), i cant install windows 11...
Who knows, maybe in a few years i guess? Win12, hopefully without tpm, or whenever i buy/build another machine? Anyway i was holding on changing from my current browser(wich im disapointed with) for Arc, i will just have to make the jump to some other browser for the time being and be done with the subject

2024.05.15 01:26 jakkal6969 ATM9 - Numbers fall without keyboard or mouse input

When attempting to craft an item in Refined Storage, I chose the item to craft, the craft window opens to chose +1, +10, +64 or -1, -10, -64. I chose to craft a stack (64) and 64 is entered in the text box and immediately the numbers start to fall: 64, 63, 62, ... until it gets to 1. This is without any keyboard or mouse input. This also happens when trying to adjust the xp quantity in the tank for sophisticated backpacks. You try to scroll up with the mouse wheel and the number immediately falls to 0. Anyone know if a mod is causing this? My mouse and keyboard are working normally everywhere else so I don't think it is a hardware issue. Thanks for any input.

2024.05.14 21:45 TheDeadite73 Searching for Gateway PC's from 2000

Hello all. Recently, I've decided to try to hunt down the parts needed to rebuild the computer setup that my family had when I was a child. I was born in 1997, and my family got their first PC in 2000. It was a Gateway model, with the green lettering and cow-texture cube for branding. It ran Windows 98 Second Edition and came with a printer, scanner and microphone. Past that, I can't remember a thing about the specs it had. I remember it being pretty solid for point and click games, but it obviously couldn't play the games that began to come out in the Windows XP days. I used this computer for years growing up, until about 2008-9 when my dad sold our house. It got broken in the move, and I haven't seen it since.
I've managed to find the exact tower shape that we had, here is a photo of it: gp71.jpg (584×1121) (wordpress.com)
Doing some reading, I've found that these towers held the Gateway Essential, Performance, and GP6-GP7 series. There may have been more, but the archived links I've found to Gateway's shop don't have the pages I need to see product listings. I remember our computer having a big binder of Microsoft Office/workspace discs with it, and this makes me think that it may have been a G7 since those were more business-oriented from what I've read. I could be completely wrong
I'm searching for what could be a better computer in this line that would be able to handle most games up until 2000 or so. If anyone has any experience with these models and can point me in the right direction, I would love the advice. I have a lot of nostalgia for this computer setup and would love to rebuild it and break out my old CD-ROM's. Any help on this is greatly appreciated!

2024.05.14 21:44 melchett_general External 2560*1440 Monitor font scaling/sampling/clarity

Hello all
Recently switched back to Mac after 7 years of Windows (aside, Windows11 is a joke) and was baffled to see that hooking up a decent (BenqPD27Q) external monitor, 27in, 2560*1440 - a very common size/resolution combo (about 20% of the Steam install base if that means anything) - resulted in appallingly low quality text clarity. It is shockingly bad. I'm obviously running it at the correct resolution before the fanboys with Stockholm syndrome arrive to ask me dumb questions and tell me it's the cables.
The same Monitor hooked up to Windows10 and 11 laptops, and hell, even a Samsung tablet (S8, Android 14etc) displays text just fine, and that's all because, having looked into it a bit and having recognised the symptoms from shitty non cleartype text on windowsXP era laptops, it turns out MacOS no longer does subpixel sampling.
Now, that's understandable for the amazing built in display - it simply doesn't need to mess up fonts to make them appear smoother
However, for external monitors, most of which I'd guess are not 5k 220PPI studio level displays, it's still a requirement. Otherwise text and the UI look like shite. I mean unusable. I was driving me mad. I found BetterDisplay and the option to mess with the HiDPI settings to force MacOS to render fonts properly, and it's the only thing that's worked. It's made such a difference I might even pay for the license.
But, what I can't figure out is, why this isn't a bigger, noisier issue. There's very little on the apple forums. There must be milliions of MacOS users hooking up to 24inch 1080 or similar displays all suffering silently from shittyfont-syndrome. And the default response they they're getting from Apple is forum members telling them it's their settings or their cables, when it's neither. Last time I was full time OSX (2015) the Apple experience really was excellent.
This time, yes, the 16inch MBP is a gorgeous, ridiculously powerful machine. But this is one of a few little niggles that detract from the overall experience.

2024.05.14 21:31 SingingCoyote13 Having quite some trouble finding video card drivers for my old desktop pc.

iMedia S2984 Packard bell (bought around 2013/2014 - low budget pc, even then)
Intel N3XXX Integrated Graphics Controller <-This thingy i need a driver for
i915 , Pentium Processor X5-E8000 , 1TB HDD / 4 GB Ram
So this desktop pc i have laying around. For in case i need to install windows xp on it, -dont know when i will need to do so, but my current retro pc (i have a decent game pc with win 11 besides) for windows 98/xp gaming might one day pass. yes that retro pc is even more ancient, 2007, so that is why i need to stock the drivers for the imedia already before they are nowhere to be found anymore - if not already the case.
i cannot find the video card drivers for the intel n3xxx integrated graphics controller. not on any site of acer (which has merged with pb) not on any drivers related site from google. even googling the card, or the system, or the processor yields only a handful of links, all not what i am looking for. anyone knowing where i can dl the drivers ?

I recently got a new computer I’m fixing up, running windows xp, the problem is the current motherboard has a max ram of 1 gb and I want to do the maximum that xp can run, which is 4 gb. A pentium 4 is preferred because the sticker on the case says that and I want to keep it accurate. Any help is appreciated!

2024.05.14 20:35 Sweaty-Rate-6826 [PC] [2010s] Farm game

So I have been searching for this game for a while but I simple can't find it anywhere or even get the name
I played it on PC around 2010 and 2015, not sure if in windows XP or Vista, but it had to be one of those two.
It was a farm game, I don't remember how exactly the gameplay was but it was probably a time management. All I can remember is that you had to go around in a farm collecting products on a truck, and maybe you have to sell the products on a city but I'm not sure about that part.
I downloaded it on myplaycity and the graphics where that bright cartoony 3d style of farm frenzy and other melesta games, so maybe it was produced by them.
I don't remember anything else, so I hope something can be done with that info 🙏

2024.05.14 18:37 Mr-ShinyAndNew Steam after the shutdown

I recently booted up a 19yo Windows XP box I had rebuilt / restored years ago then set aside. At the time I didn't have the right graphics card, but then I found it in a different box (nVidia 7300GS) and I was able to reunite the card with the motherboard and download and install drivers. The whole system works pretty well, except of course Steam is totally broken because they stopped supporting XP.
Is there any work-around or trick to getting old Steam games working on this old OS? It's a shame that this computer can't run Half-Life 2, which it was built specifically to run back in the day.

2024.05.14 18:08 JVJulian I need help with my first windows XP build

Hi everyone,
For the context,
I'm gonna build my first xp gaming rig.
The main objective is to have a fully compatible, stable build with any windows xp games until like crysis, GTA 4.
I'm gonna play title like simcity, sims 2 & 1, rollercoaster tycoon, doom, quake, half life, age of empire, max payne, far cry, hitman, need for speed, tomb raider,...
I would like to have hardware from like 2008,2009 to stay in the "era". The only part that I'm gonna buy new is an SSD and a PSU.
I've already choose the case, I've bought a Lian Li PC-8B.

But I have some questions about the configuration that i'm going for.

First about the GPU. I'm gonna buy an HD 5870 Vapor X. I can have two of them for 25€. But I'm concern about the compatibility of crossfire with some very old, early xp games.
- Do you know if there is any compatibility issues with some games when we have a crossfire ?
- What would you recommand ? Just buy one to have no problem or get the two and do a crossfire ?

About the CPU now. My first choice was the core 2 duo E8600 but I don't know if that would be enough to fully support a crossfire of 5870. So i've checked and selected two others CPUs : the core 2 quad Q9650 and the I7 960.
- My first question is, since most of the xp era games perform extremely good with 2-core cpu, is it possible that I'm gonna encounter problems with 4-core cpu in those games ? Maybe in early era games ?
- Do you think it's necessary for me to have a 4-core cpu if I do a crossfire ?
- Am I going to see differences in performance in games when using a 4-core instead of 2-core ? In like GTA or Crysis maybe ?

I would like to be able to play everything from this era maxed out at least at 60fps or 120 or even higher since I'm gonna use my main screen (240hz) because I don't have enough space to put a CRT for now.
- Do you think I can do that just with the E8600 and one HD 5870 ?

If I go with a crossfire, I would need to spend more on the motherboard to have a compatible one (like 60€ more).
- For you, is it a good investment ?

Lastly, if you have any suggestions for a good SSD for windows XP and CPU cooler for this build, let me know, I would really appreciate it :)

Thank you for your help !
Have a nice day :D
