2024.05.15 06:51 TurnEmOff State of Console Gaming (for me)

It keeps getting difficult to stick to console gaming as time goes by. I've owned a console on each generation for the last 17 years. I started with a PS2, PSP, Xbox 360, PS4, and now a PS5.
Those early years were simplier, buy a disk and play it then and there. Simple
Then some games became region locked (NTCJ, PAL, etc..) in those xbox 360 days, so imagine my frustration saving for months just for my game not to work on my xbox.
Then it became that games now had to be installed on the drive as well as updates before you could play it. You also have to create a PSN account, problem is; your country is not on that list. So you have to find ways to purchase digitals or DLC on other countries currency.
And here we are now, you have a MW2 disk with nothing more than text file with your serial number. You have to download the full 140gb+ game before you could even get inside a god damn menu. Imagine my surprise.
Now with the current helldivers 2 situation and xbox layoffs, not to mention the drought of exclusives. All I have is a $500 glorified youtube machine.

2024.05.15 06:35 _kaleb_ Me 32M, wife 28F, with child 7 together 11 years married 5. Years of hardship/bad luck, recent affair. LONG story. Advice?

So the last few years have been rough.
*note* if you're a "cheaters will always be cheaters type" tldr is don't bother reading or commenting
BACKSTORY 2019-2023 child nearly annual broken bones, lots of stress and specialist visits.
2018-2024 my wife got her associates as a medical assistant and is almost done with her bachelor's and final quarter internship while working full time and that has been hard for me. The lack of time for me and my son has really made an impact.
2019 I was injured at work and 2020 had my first surgery to try and preserve an ankle joint. That surgery ended up failing and while recovering I ended up mangling 2 fingertips in a wood jointer. 2020 I had to make the transition to a sahd on workers comp and have been since then. My lifestyle of hiking and fishing was upended because I could barely be on my feet 3 hours a day and uneven ground killed me not to mention the whole covid thing was pretty isolating.
All of 2021 was supporting her being a surrogate for a couple in City X (their egg/sperm). So, lots of trips checks and giving her injections. It was kind of proving myself to her because I was terrified when our son was born in 2017 and didn't help as much as I should have. Especially the first 3 months. Really, I didn't find out until later. We had conversations and fights at the time and id step up to do more and she would agree and tell me it was all okay. Then another fight saying I wasn't doing enough/anything and asking more and me being upset and confused. I guess at the time she was afraid to ask more, or tell me what she wanted, or her feelings, and the postpartum depression and initial feelings of abandonment didn't help.
Anyways the surrogacy went okay. I was there and supportive. Rubbing her feet and back. taking on extra load when she was tired etc. And hey I didn't pass out at delivery this time XD The end was a bit hard with 2 inductions needed and a massive 9.5lb baby and a stuck shoulder.
Then a few weeks after birth in November 2021 the nightmare began.
Out of nowhere she started hemorrhaging. She had to have an emergency D&C to stop the bleeding and scans showed a mass. Turned out the surrogate baby's placenta had some cells turn cancerous and attach to her uterus (Choriocarcinoma). 3 months later and the first 3 agent chemo failed, and her numbers were skyrocketing because it turned treatment resistant. They had to hit it with 5 types of chemo (EMACO) leaving future fertility a coin toss but more than a hysterectomy. By May 2022 the tumor marker was gone, but it was 6 months of intense monitoring and 6 months of monthly monitoring. The whole time she was in an intense spiraling depression questioning life. The meaning of all it, and how all her childhood trauma was fair. That no god would let a child live that. And questioning every decision in her life and wondering what things could have been like if she went a different direction. Feeling like she missed out on opportunities early in life. If this might be all there is (we have been together since she was 17). She said she felt like reality wasn't real and this was make believe at times.
Summer 2022 she made a new mom friend. She was pretty toxic and selfish. She used my wife for personal benefit and to go places. Yelled at her kids and treated the oldest from a prior marriage as less than (girl doesn't know her dad and when she mentioned she was part Mexican she freaked out and denied it because of how conservative and anti Mexican her new dad and his family is). Like never offered a dime, but expected food, gas, tickets, and gifts. She drove my wife nuts with that behavior. but she was desperate for a friend and loved her kids. Her friend would just talk shit about her partner pretty constantly and say my wife should be unhappy in her relationship too. Shit talking husbands behind their backs became like a mutual thing and I def hated it
Sometime 2023 she jumped into fantasy romance and fantasy smut /erotica. This progressed to an AI chat smut generator.
May 2023 monitoring was over and she was officially cancer free and had been on a health/mental health quest..
The mental health part started early in the year and she was seeing a therapist for depression and anxiety alone as well as her long list of childhood trauma. Off hand her therapist told her a few times she didn't know maybe just divorce me or something. I was super uncomfortable with this as it was completely outside her practicing scope and I didn't feel she should be providing relationship guidance, especially without me or the rest of the story. I felt a bit attacked and didn't even get the chance to give my perspective or account and felt that is pretty important after being here for a decade. A lot of negative points get omitted by her.
Summer 2023 she had some tough diagnosis for other chronic issues. Narcolepsy Dissociative Identity disorder Depression And a sleep disorder
I initially rejected this as I didn't want to accept these chronic and incurable conditions and insisted it has to be something else, that she's okay. It was taken as rejection of her.
Fall 2023 she reached out to a childhood ex bf a few states away and started an emotional affair. They kept in infrequent contact over the years and nothing ever came of it before. He has been unable to move past her or have meaningful relationships in 13 years. At first he pushed her away and rejected it, but after a month by Nov it was a thing. Texting saying I shouldn't worried because they dated before, but he ended up coming out as gay, calls in private, staying later after work. I gave it the benefit of the doubt but got burned. I found out in December the second time she wanted a private call in the car, and I checked her phone.
We started marriage counseling in Jan and I started my own therapy search as well as a condition of hers. She agreed to no longer contact the boy showed me the sent message ending it and blocked him. By Feb I found him listed in her phone as Saraa and found deleted texts and calls. In therapy she wanted to keep him as a friend and only friend and I tried this. She asked if a PO box would be okay for a birthday present, and I said no. That it crossed a line. It was also super close to Valentine's day. Next therapy I couldn't handle the anxiety and feeling physically ill when she used her phone, and we went through Jan again break off block etc.
In Feb the therapist recommended a separate space for conflict as we work on things. That too much conflict triggered her dissociative identity disorder. It was either a hotel as needed or a rv/camper. My wife was set on a camper and the only way to get a newer one was to add my credit/income to hers for a loan and I was uncomfortable on a $20k purchase. She assured me the intent of the camper was working on us and not separating/divorcing. She brought up me not having chores completely done all the time and I poured myself into it if that was making her unhappy over the years.
During this time in March I found out she got the secret PO box and had yet again resumed texting entirely deleting her logs. She had valentines gifts. birthday gifts, long distance electronic bracelets, and had an easter basket coming. Everything was put together into a box to be gotten rid of. That effort I had for chores and making everything spotless kind of died. Like there was that recognition that that obviously wasn't the problem. We lived completely separately for a few weeks until she could make a choice. We split our son and had almost zero interaction. Eventually she chose and I saw a notebook she used once in December. Basically she has started outlining a story envisioning herself as the lead character in once of her romantic fantasies and cast me and the other man as competing love interests
April and early may there was nothing. We did therapy and tackled our issues slowly. Together. Our future plans: college vs baby and the ticking clock of fertility and ifs after chemo. Etc
Last week she was going out for lilac picking and didn't text me for 2 hours and said she was at the beach. Later she showed me something in her email and I saw discord emails about a pw change and login. One bad gut feeling later and the next morning I see she deleted the discord emails and check our phone plan and her phone and see missing texts. I put in a phone record request for recent texts and text/call logs. She woke up and I said it did it and she said I was disgusting. Then admitted I was right.
She says after breaking it off she was worried he would hurt himself and just wanted to be sure he was okay and admitted to 3 texts and the discord call which i verified. Said that he was in therapy for his issues. She said she didn't want to bring it up to me because I would make it a fight and she thought she could just get away with a few texts to make sure. That she felt responsible for how much he had been hurt too.
So I did what I do with extreme anxiety and checked her work bag. I found an old journal they shared Jan to mid-march. Kind of confirmed again what was going on. Also revealed she lied to me about the trailer, or him? She couldn't get it without me and told him it was to work on separating from me easier. Yeah I kept pics in case this goes downhill because yeah, I'll gun for EVERYTHING. I'm sure that being tricked into signing a $20k contract under false pretenses for her personal benefit, secret po boxes, lying to our therapist repeatedly, secret texts, expecting gifts from the other man, career over spending time with family and a serious personality disorder on top of narcolepsy making a job hard to keep down wont do her favors at divorce/custody hearings.
So its all fresh for me again. I already have extreme anxiety and the autism doesn't help with reading/understanding people the best, although my gut intuition and pattern recognition are catching stuff fine.
WHERE I THINK I AM
Looking back, I can see that the personality disorder and narcolepsy are apparent. Dream delusion and memory issues from the narcolepsy make separating dream from reality hard as well as just recalling what happened. So whether not the "not feeling like reality is real" was a dream delusion or a full-blown dissociative episode... I can also see that messaging him was a "new" personality state. Maybe it's a manifestation of the trauma of nearly dying from cancer, maybe it's a fragment of her young identity that was created to survive her traumatic childhood resurfacing after nearly dying. But her interests and perspective massively shifted at that time and there was a clear separation between her with me and her with him. It was like this regression back to 15. Like she was molding an identity to fit his desires and interests. She took up tarot and witchy books, different music, painting, rockhounding (my interest), dried bouquets, dyed her hair and got multiple piercings. Even getting caught there was that click in her whole demeanor.
I can see how her friend may have jaded her towards me by all the shit she talked about HER husband. I can see that throwing herself into fantasy smut to cope flooded her with portrayals of unrealistic romance. That she progressed that by using an AI smut bot to hold those conversations with. Then she directly tried to process her own reality through the lens of those novels in that journal.
This "relationship" was "I love you, we can be together in 10 years". He wasn't going to leave his cushy job. Or his state. He didn't want to be a stepdad. He didn't want to support her career or have any involvement in it. She couldn't leave my state. Never saw illicit photos. No discussion of sex. It was like exactly what you think some lovestruck preteens would come up with. Like just a fantasy. No talk of bills or finances. Of moving. Of any substantial tangible entanglement.
Somehow that's easier to handle
I love her and don't want to leave her. But i desperately think she needs serious help and have told her I want her to do therapy 2x a month (on top of marriage therapy 2x).
I also think if a secret or deleted text happens again, I've got to take off the kid gloves and fight for it all. Cause well showing up at the dude's door would end in prison.
I'm sure this happening right as I fully got over last time and took a trust leap of faith on a "gay" friend that burned me will make it harder. I get the last few years have been garbage luck and I get almost dying can have profound affects though. She had been utterly loyal for 5 years (believe me I checked as we agreed to ie open book). Tying to see this with an open mind.
I get my exact expectations are muddy and part of this is just putting it into words to process for me, but I value if someone has any good input

How to Check if Your Website is SEO Optimized (5 Easy Ways)
How Can I Tell if My Website is SEO Optimized?
While most small businesses understand that SEO is important you might not know exactly how SEO works.), or how you can check your website’s SEO performance.
Here are 5 simple things you can look for and some tools that can help you tell if your website is optimized or, needs help to rank.
https://preview.redd.it/hv5tkfovoi0d1.png?width=1246&format=png&auto=webp&s=9865650569d2068ba778e1d11a2088b6cea91916

Is Your Website Already Optimized?

Before I jump in the simple answer to “Is my website SEO optimized?” is NO, because SEO is never done. SEO is an ongoing process. You constantly need to be adding changing and optimizing your content to stay on top of Google.
So if you’re not actively doing SEO your site is definitely not optimized. But if you are doing SEO or have done any in the past here are some things to look for.

Why Check if Your Website is SEO Optimized?

By checking if your website is SEO optimized, you’ll know if there are any improvements that you can make to grow your search engine traffic.
Since search engines are often the largest source of website traffic, this can be very valuable to your WordPress business website.
However, when it comes to SEO, there’s a lot you need to get right, including a lot of technical SEO jargon that can be confusing for beginners.
Luckily, there are a variety of SEO tools you can use to see if your website is SEO optimized and the steps you can take to improve your SEO.
With that said, let’s look at two ways you can check if your website is SEO optimized.
In this Article, We will cover:
  1. Are You Getting Leads?
  2. Titles, Metas, H1s
  3. Ranking of Keywords
  4. Site Speed & Mobile Friendliness
  5. Technical Site Audit

5 WAYS TO TELL IF YOUR WEBSITE IS SEO-OPTIMIZED

1: Are You Getting Leads?

As a business owner the number one thing you should care about with SEO is are you getting leads from your website? Are they filling out forms or picking up the phone and calling you? And if you have a shopping cart on your site are you getting sales?
If you’re getting leads from your SEO, everything else is secondary. Your SEO company or your marketing team might be tracking 200 other things, but leads are key.
If you don’t know where your leads are coming from you should be tracking them. We have a leads dashboard where we can track all your form fills and phone calls and show you where each and every lead is coming from!

2: Titles, Metas, H1s

Titles, Metas, H1s
One of the easiest ways to tell if your site is SEO optimized is to look at your title tags, meta descriptions, and H1s. The title, description, and headers on each page should include keywords that you want your page to rank for.
For example, you can see that our web design page is optimized for the keyword ‘Digital Marketing Manager’. It’s in the title at the top of the browser window and it’s in the main headers on the page.
And if you search for Digital Marketing Manager on Google, you’ll see the keyword again in the title and the description on the search engine results page.
You can check each page on your website individually like this or we use a tool called Screaming Frog to crawl your entire site and show you all your titles and metas.

3: Keyword Rankings

Next if your site is SEO optimized you should be ranking for keywords that are relevant for your business.
Googling your keywords is one way to check rankings, but it can be inconsistent. So, we use a SEO tool called SEMRUSH that can track all the different keywords you’re ranking for, how they change over time and even how your rankings compare to your competitors.

4: Site Speed & Mobile Friendliness

Google prioritizes websites that are fast and mobile-friendly, and their recent core web vitals update made site performance a ranking factor.
Bottom line: an SEO optimized site should load fast and provide a great experience especially on mobile. Google has a Page speed test and a mobile-friendly test where you can check to see if your website is optimized to meet Google standards.

5: Technical Site Audit

Finally, if your site is optimized for SEO, it should be relatively free of technical errors like broken links, 404 errors, uncompressed images, or other issues.
Using SEMRUSH we can do a site audit to improve the overall health of your site. Most of our clients start with a score of less than 50 percent and we work to keep their site health score at over 90 percent.

Have You Checked Your Site’s SEO Performance?

Again, SEO is an ongoing process is never truly done. But if you’re wondering if your site is SEO optimized look at your leads first, then dig into the details like your meta tags, rankings, and site performance.
Or even better contact me for a free SEO audit and I’ll run the reports for you and then walk you through how you can get better results from your SEO.

2024.05.15 06:04 Business_trendss Object-Based Storage: Revolutionizing Data Management for the Hybrid Cloud Era

Rather than organizing data as traditional blocks or files, Object-Based Storage (OBS) is a new data storage architecture. Each item in OBS is made up of three components: data, metadata, and a unique identifier. Metadata contains descriptive information about the object. This strategy has drawn a lot of interest recently and provides a number of benefits over conventional storage techniques. OBS fits very nicely with hybrid cloud and cloud computing techniques. It is an essential part of cloud storage services, allowing cloud providers to provide their clients with scalable and reliable storage options.
OBS enables hybrid and multi-cloud deployments by supporting smooth data portability and interoperability across various cloud environments. Scalability, flexibility, dependability, affordability, and interoperability with contemporary cloud computing paradigms are all provided by object-based storage. It tackles the difficulties brought about by the exponential increase in data and the variety of data kinds present in today's digital environment. Organizations wishing to embrace IoT, optimize their storage infrastructure, use big data analytics, distribute content, and guarantee compliance with data governance rules should consider OBS as a strategic option.
"Object-based storage (OBS) is the method of storing unstructured data which are shared in any format such as PDFs, text, emails, videos, audio, graphics, webpages, etc." is how Quadrant Knowledge Solutions defines OBS. Organizations storing huge amounts of non-hierarchical data in the cloud or on-site can manage and control it with OBS. It is possible to keep data that are dispersed over a device's many folders and subfolders as distinct objects in one place. Object-based storage joins all the data fragments to create a file, appends all pertinent information, and appends a unique identifier to facilitate file searches.
The quick uptake of next-generation technologies like as social media, big data analytics, cloud computing, and mobile applications has increased the amount of data collected and resulted in a significant change in consumer preferences for data access. Due to workplaces using more and more technology, people today expect to have access to data whenever they need it, from anywhere, and on any device.
Because object-based storage provides extensive metadata capabilities, low-cost data growth control, and enormous scalability to meet the rapidly growing need for data storage and access, it can aid in the resolution of these issues. Using Object Storage, data may be safely and securely saved or accessed straight from the cloud platform or the internet. Object storage offers a number of administration interfaces that make it simple to manage storage at scale. You can progressively increase your investment from a small initial commitment thanks to the platforms' elasticity, all without experiencing any drop in performance or service reliability.
Key questions this study will answer:
Is the Object-Based Storage market growing? What is the short-term and long-term growth potential of the Object-Based Storage market?
What are the key market accelerators and market restraints impacting the global Object-Based Storage market?
What are the major end-user industries of Object-Based Storage solutions? Which industries offer maximum growth opportunities during the forecast period?
Which global region offers maximum growth opportunities in the Object-Based Storage market?
Which customer segments have the maximum adoption of Object-Based Storage solution?
What are the various deployment options for Object-Based Storage solutions?
Vendors covered in this study:
Cloudian, Cohesity, Datacore, DDN, Dell Technologies, Hitachi Vantara, Huawei, IBM, Inspur, NetApp, Nutanix, OpenIO, Pure Storage, Quantum, Qumulo, Red Hat, Scality, StorageCraft, SUSE, SwiftStack, Weka, and Western Digital.

2024.05.15 05:48 Aggressive-Jelly-180 Changes I'd Make for the Super Smash Bros. Playable Fighters Part 1: Smash 64

Welcome to the Series of Changes to be Made to the Super Smash Bros. Playable Fighters. First, we are going with the Original of the Series, Smash 64. Now, this topic has been done before, though it'd be fun to make my own. Plus, While some have got proper changes, Most still are the biggest offenders when it comes bad or outdated choices of Movesets, animations, aesthetics, etc. Here is the list of them.
Mario:
Donkey Kong:
Link:
Power Suit Samus:
Yoshi:
Kirby:
Fox:
Pikachu:
Luigi:
Ness:
Captain Falcon:
Jigglypuff:
And, there you go. This took a little while, though i hope you to hear your feelings about these changes (as long as your reasons are good). Any changes that you want to see to the Original 12 that I didn't mention, or did I misplace some moves? or did I add a change that was unnecessary to some of you? It'd be cool to see what other people can come up with.

2024.05.15 05:45 joerover34 Company acquired last year - new boss is unappreciative and simply doesn’t respect me. Am I being petty/immaturr?

My family sold our business last year cause we had a great offer and it was a get out while you can (future market seems bleak - depended on insurance reimbursement for 70% of revenue). I (son) was the only external sales rep in charge of all the accounts. Generated $4M / year. Long story short. He was dead set on changing the name. Day 1 he changes the name. Day 1 he cuts my commission. Day 1 he takes away gas allowance. I now make considerably less. He never has told me he appreciates me (the other employees tell me he tells them all the time). Has never asked for my opinion or thoughts. I’ve worked my tail off trying to “calm the waters” and inform people of the acquisition and keep our accounts. He has slowly been seeing some of my accounts without telling me. Zero communication. He never reaches out. I have to reach out to him for anything. Half the time he replies with that lame “do not disturb” notification. He never gives me updates, anything internally. He has given me zero marketing merch. But I also ran the social media(s), he asked for that on day 1 too… HOWEVER, I still have overall ownership of the Facebook page and it has thousands of followers. He has tried to remove me several times. He just sends a request to remove myself, I deny it. Hes never texted me or anything to tell me or ask me, he’s pretty lame. I’m honestly so bitter I want to delete the page, and say FU and resign. Thoughts?? It’s obvious he wants me out right??? This will be the ultimate middle finger cause he LOOOOVVES trying to do influencer videos on social media.

2024.05.15 05:35 radionowhere1 Broken shortcut used to auto-text me webpage URLs: how to fix it?

I've had a shortcut for texting URLs for myself for years. Recently, it stopped working, and instead was sending me huge chunks of text and unstyled images from the webpages I was trying to text. Not sure what's changed, but it doesn't work anymore. Any idea how to get this working again?
Here's exactly what I'd like the shortcut to do. When i'm reading a web page, I want to text the URL to myself, I click the square with the upwards arrow to open the share sheet and click on my shortcut's title to start the process:
1) Receive the page's URL from Safari
2) Pass that URL - and only the URL - to the Messages app
3) Create a new message, addressed to me, which consists only of the above URL
4) Send the message
Any ideas on how to do this? It seems_incredibly_simple, but everything I've tried ends with one of two results:
1) the shortcut populates a message, addressed to me, full of me huge chunks of text and unstyled images from the webpage - but no URL
2) the shortcut generates a message addressed to me with no content at all
I'm running iPad OS 17.4.1

2024.05.15 05:26 Incman I would love to hear from this subreddit regarding my (actually-this-time-unless-she-changes-) final letter to my nMom.

As the title states, (and despite the existential risk to myself - as I am disabled, impoverished, and my survival is reliant on the room I rent in her attic - given her recent threat to have have me thrown out by the police because she could not handle the feelings she had during the argument that she initiated), I have finally drawn a bright red line in the metaphorical sand regarding her treatment of me. This is the culmination of 8+ years of sustained, one-sided, unreciprocated, and unsuccessful effort on my part to sustain, salvage, repair, or improve our "relationship"

I've learned a lot from the stories and people on this subreddit, and I know if anyone can understand the way that I'm feeling about this it's you guys.

Any input, commentary, criticism, insight, commiseration, etc, is very welcome, and I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read it.

Anyways, enough preamble, here's the letter in all of my ridiculously-verbose inglory (the square-bracketed disclaimers, etc, were part of the letter as delivered to her, since she is selective illiterate whenever there's something she doesn't like):

[START]

[This document begins with a 382 word AI-generated summary (titled "AI- GENERATED SUMMARY:" below the square-bracketed opening remarks), estimated at 1m23s time required to read. If you are unable or unwilling to make it through even this brief summary, then there is literally nothing else I could possibly do to assist in your comprehension of my positions. The full message following the summary is approximately 2100 words, estimated at approximately 8 minutes to read.]

[If you would like assistance in understanding things I've written that you're struggling to interpret or comprehend, you can go to chatgpt.com (no account necessary), or download the ChatGPT app from the Google Play Store on your phone. You can simply interact with the chat in natural language (in other words, type as though you were texting another person) and it will understand what you are saying. If you are struggling to understand how to interact with it effectively, you can simply inform it of that (in any wording you choose) and it will assist you with altering your approach to receive more effective results.]

AI-GENERATED SUMMARY:

Your son's message is a powerful declaration of his boundaries, grievances, and intentions within your relationship. Here's a breakdown to help you understand:

Preface: He advises you to read with an open mind and, if needed, with assistance due to the emotional complexity.

Declaration of Disengagement: He firmly states his decision to disengage from any form of interaction or acknowledgment outside of essential landlord-tenant matters.

Condemnation of Abuse: He accuses you of perpetuating a cycle of abuse that has deeply impacted his health and stability.

Rejection of Coercion: He dismisses the idea that being evicted is a viable solution to the abuse, highlighting the coercive nature of such a choice, and how it leaves him vulnerable to further harm.

Criticism of Your Behavior: He unreservedly condemns your actions, particularly your exploitation and manipulation, emphasizing the gravity and effects of your conduct.

Challenges to Your Claims: He directly confronts your claims regarding his efforts in the relationship, asserting that he has consistently made extensive attempts to maintain it, despite your accusations to the contrary.

Commitment to Compliance: He unequivocally affirms his commitment to compliance with all landlord-related demands, demonstrating his unwavering respect for your authority as the homeowner.

Demand for Clarity: He demands clear and unambiguous knowledge of the requisite terms when any changes to living arrangement paradigms are demanded, underscoring his willingness to comply with any directives you may issue.

[I recommend that you read this in its entirety at a time and capacity level where your literacy and comprehension are at their highest level, and preferably with the interpretational assistance of a knowledgeable and competent support person or technological assistant.]

[Presumably, after reading a few sentences or less, your defense mechanisms will be activated and you will eject. However, as with the vast majority of the things I have said to you that have gone unacknowledged, I am completely certain that the contents are cogent and comprehensible, and I believe that with competent support and vulnerable effort you undoubtedly have the raw cognitive capacity necessary for comprehension if you are able to stabilize your emotional reactions and put real effort into the actions necessary for you to understand my words.]

I will not talk to you.
I will not look at you.
I will not approach you.
I will not acknowledge you.

If you attempt to interact with me on any interpersonal level not related to your role as a landlord, I will reserve the right to express just how fucking despicable it is to treat such a vulnerable person with such utter disregard and abuse for so fucking long.

The cycle of abuse you have maintained to destabilize me for your own pathological reasons has caused - and continues to cause - extensive damage to my health, stability, and existence. However, since I know your response to this would likely be some variation of "you're not a victim here [my name], so if I treat you so bad, just leave", I'll preemptively and unequivocally condemn such coercive and abusive tactics, and state again (as I did the other day), that the forced choice between your abuse and life-threatening-homelessness is obviously no choice at all, and leaves me perpetually subject to your coercion and abusive control.

Such exploitation by you is absolutely disgusting, and honestly I understand why you run away from yourself at every single instance where you're in danger of having your lifelong house-of-cards ego even slightly threatened. I know if I treated another human being the way you treat me for even a moment, let alone for the literal years you have done so, I would not be able to face myself in the mirror either. You should be fucking ashamed of yourself.

You say I "don't want to be your son anymore", as though it has been someone other than me making hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of hours of efforts and attempts in order to try and single-handedly keep our relationship alive, and as though it has been someone other than you who has stonewalled me for years about every single legitimate and valid time I attempted to gain even the slightest foothold as a full human being in the owner-pet relationship you have fought so hard to maintain. You siphon, in fact demand, emotional supply whenever you so choose, and then fucking discard me as soon as it appears that I might do anything that would result in you losing even a fraction of a percent of the 99% to 1% imbalance you believe is an immutable part of our "relationship".

I will do my absolute best to be in my room as much as physically possible when you are home, so as to minimize the need to be physically adjacent to you in the course of our respective activities of daily living.

I, again, remain unequivocally committed to my position of deference and compliance towards any rules/demands related to my existence, presence, or activities as your tenant.

As you refuse to provide any sort of unambiguous guidance or clarification whatsoever regarding your shifting demands affecting my ability to access/perform basic activities of daily living, I will continue to act in good faith with respect to my adherence to all previously-established arrangements and protocols (whether codified or de facto) regarding such activities. To the full extent of my abilities, and to the extent that it is physically possible, I will immediately and unequivocally comply with any alterations, additions, or excisions you choose to impose regarding the nature of our physical coexistence as landlord and tenant, regardless of your disregard or intent for any harm to my stability that will ensue as a result.

If you intend to attempt to manipulate or threaten or gaslight me to illegitimately and dishonestly accuse me of failing to comply with your rights and demands as the homeownelandlord, then I can assure you that such efforts will be ineffective and inadvisable. The extensive history of my genuine, documented, and unwavering commitment to absolute respect of your home, property, and landlord-tenant authority is unassailable, and nothing has or will change about the good faith nature of my efforts to simply live peacefully and work on stabilizing my health and continuing to attempt to develop basic protocols that offer me the opportunity to seek the ways and means required to sustainably exist, survive, and seek meaning and fulfilment as a human being.

To try and make it a bit more bite-sized (without warranty as to the efficacy of said efforts), since I know when your ego is threatened you conveniently - and dishonestly - become completely unable to read a couple thousand words:

I love you, and goodbye for now. I hope to see you on the other side, but I cannot force you to undertake the journey.

Watch the 6 most impressive demos from OpenAI's big GPT-4o reveal
OpenAI revealed its latest flagship AI model on Monday, GPT-4o, and showed off what ChatGPT can do when powered by it.
The new AI model, with an "o" standing for omni, can handle a combination of text, audio, and images as either inputs to respond to or outputs it can generate.
But seeing is believing in this case, and thankfully OpenAI did some live onstage demos — with even more examples published on social media.
Here are some of the most impressive demos we've seen so far.
GPT-4o sounds noticeably more conversational, even throwing in a few jokes here and there (and yes, it sounds a bit like "Her" star Scarlett Johansson). It doesn't sound as monotonous as we've come to expect of AI voices; you hear some tonal variation, and even some chuckles in its voice, more in line with what you'd expect talking with another person. As in the studio space in the other demos, GPT-4o can also see what's around you in the real world thanks to your phone cameras. In this clip, for example, it helps a visually impaired man hail a taxi by telling him one is approaching and when to wave it down.

2024.05.15 04:09 MousseSensitive4044 ASK AND THOU SHALL RECEIVE!!! Unorthodox Gameplay 4: The Kitchen is on fire!

For context, I post cool teams that I made using some underplayed path or tactic, and on the last one, Unorthodox Gameplay 3 : Monarchnesis, a fellow user u/Alexandergus (COME, SAY HI TO EVERYONE) asked me to build a team with not only Anamnesis, but Berserker Helion as well... And as the title says : ASK AND THOU SHALL RECEIVE
Sidenote: If there's too much text for your liking, dear reader, feel free to skip to the summary part down bellow ;)
So, with that out of the way, let's get to strats!

Occultist

I took inspiration on a setup that ShuffleFM (Darkest Dungeon youtuber, twitch streamer and really good reference) showcased on one of his teams. The concept is that you have a Virtuoso Jester using Encore on Occultist, which proceeds to Chaotic Offering on his bonus turn, generating an Unlimited Power Token(UP). After that, when the regular Occ turn rolls in, he gets the second UP because of the turn start effect, which he originally used to nuke someone with Warlock's Burning Stars turn 1; on my case is to perform Aspirant Anamnesis and open the first turn with a really strong cleave, I also run Burning Stars as an option for larger enemies like size 2s or bosses.

Jester

As for the Jester, since I'm basing my entire schtick on Encore, I'm also running Solo and Finale. That's because you can actually use the dazed in your favor and the cooldowns sync. EG: Encore turn 1 > gets dazed and pushed to last turn 2 action order > Solo > Forward 3> gets Speed token and Jester, specially Virtuoso is really fast > goes first on turn 3 > uses Finale > Back 3 and dazed >If encounter's still going, Encore and Repeat. I topped him with Inspiring Tune for Stress heal (literally the best in the game) and Razor's Wit for poke.

Helion

Now let's talk about Helion. She likes the cleave since it helps her kill rank 4 in 1 turn with Iron Swan, specially ordained and modified enemies like elite and sturdy, not only that but as she's Berserk and is at Rank 1, I run Bleed Out as a strong option after I dealed with the backline; Bleed Out doesn't even have a cooldown, it "just" grants you winded tokens, which means you can spam it to stack monstrous bleeds. I just did act 3 and had 18 bleeds on the last phase for 5 turns (I crited). Another synergy is that after you cast Burning Stars at a chonky target, it gets combo; Bleed Out on Berserker on a combo tarket has 63% BLEED PIERCING. It's basically guaranteed (unless you're using this on Warlord, this bastard has 100 base... He's a VERY good reason to not go overboard on bleeds; not only that but if your whole team wants to bleed someone, you'll end up fighting for the same trinkets). For the rest of her kit, I had Toe to Toe for Taunt, Rooted and movement, Adrenaline Rush for heals and Bloodlust for really long fights and as an alternative to remove Winded tokens that isn't dependent on Adrenaline Rush's health threshold AND grants 30% more damage against bleeding targets. With Jester Encore, you can mix a ton of good sequences, specially in later stages of the fight, granting Helion bonus actions, for example stacking Bleed Out faster, or clearing winded with Bloodlust/ Adrenaline Rush/Toe to Toe+ and then hitting again with Bleed Out.

Plague Doctor

And to stitch the team together, I chose Plague Doctor as the Rank 4 hero, but not any Plague Doctor; Physician. I managed to weld together Physician, Anamnesis and Bleed Out and it's ...GOOD? The thing with Physician is that, except for Magnesium Rain that has a cooldown of 3 turns, she doesn't have a damaging skill to use. Instead, her supportive capabilities are enhanced, and they're great with this team because she provides much needed utility with crowd control, corpse clearing, heals and offensive tokens.
Usefulness Utility listed bellow!

Maps

For regions, try to prioritize the Shroud, for the bleed trinkets for Helion and Ocultist and other trinkets for the Jester, like Seamen's Boots and Compass.
Defensive trinkets on Helion aren't bad either, since she's gonna eat 80% of the hits thrown at her, so Tangle isn't a bad choice. Burning Stars ignores Block and Blinding Gas can help by "dodging" some heavy hitting moves.
Sprawl can be okay because of burn trinkets that can up the usefulness of Mag. Rain and speedy trinkets for Jester
Foetor is the lowest priority map to go, literally no one wants blight buffing trinkets and you even risk getting your heroes sick; I'd go if the map mission grants a good reward but that's about it.

Lair Boss matchups

Pets

They are pretty flexible on this team. I like the Rabbit here since everyone has trouble tanking hits, so the bonus HP goes a long way if you get it rolling(HMMM FLAPJACKS). Some good optins are: - The Tick to get the blood for guaranteed crit tokens and huge damage and bleeds - The Owl helps the debuffs from PD to stick and can provide good flow of Combat Items - The Pliskin can be good since the team is squishy and can use more sustain between fights - The Slime if you like running over debris and don't want to deal with negative tokens - This last one is highly experimental and I still have to test it, but it got to my attention that Larval Carrion Eater can be good as a Crit token Generator, specially since Anamnesis cleaves the whole party. On turn 2 you'd have only 1 UP at your turn which means you can either heal or Sac Stab something. If you have Stab+, you can use it on a corpse, kill it, generate another UP, heal 30%, gain a Block Token and a Crit token for next round, and on that round you'll have 3 UPs at your disposal to spend. This translates to 2 Anamnesis / Burning Stars casted on sequence, since you would spend 2 on this turn, and you would generate another one at the beginning of your next turn. Try this at your own courage and peril (and tell me the results later!)

Summary of the team:

Rank 4: Physician Plague Doctor
Emboldening Vapors Disorienting Blast Battlefield Medicine Blinding Gas* Magnesium Rain*
You can swap these with: Indiscriminate Science+ (heals without limited uses, good for Act 5), Ounce of Prevention for DOTS and disease prevention, Cause of Death+ if you want to nuke some large target that has a ton of bleed stacked into it, after Jester's Finale, you can use since he moves you into rank 3
Rank 3: Virtuoso Jester
Encore Solo Finale Inspiring Tune Razor's Wit
Rank 2: Aspirant Ocultist
Chaotic Offering Anamnesis Burning Stars Sacrificial Stab* Wyrd Reconstruction*
You can swap one of these with Binding Shadows if you're worried about shuffles, on Aspirant it moves you Forward 1 and can generate you a stack of UP
Rank 1 : Berserker* Helion
Iron Swan Toe to Toe Bleed Out Adrenaline Rush Bloodlust*
You can swap Bloodlust with: Raucous Revelry for a heal not dependant on limited uses, stress heal, and on upgrade, DBR Wicked Hack for better damage at rank 2 Breakthrough for Shuffles
As for the * on Berserker, is just that maybe it's a good idea changing the path depending on which act boss you're going against; the ones that came to mind are act 2 and 3. Vs act 2, Bleed Out gets absolutely no value so there's no reason to run Berserker, I'd recomend changing to Ravager for easier management of the lungs. You can also change to Carcass to better deal with high damage since apart from this path she doesn't generate blocks; I had her take every inn item I could buy to give her a better chance at survivability against the Focused Fault, but even then I got a few Deathblow checks; would recommend either running Cause of Death on PD with Berserker, or changing to Carcass to tank with Yawp. I'd also recommend not running Bloodlust if you're running Cause of Death on PD, since it clears all DOT for instant damage, making your turn go to waste, in this case just use Toe to Toe+ to get rid of Winded.
phew... this took a WHILE. Feel free to ask any questions about the team and tell me if you'd want some help with a specific path you'd like to play. ASK AND THOU SHALL RECEIVE
Heheh, have a good one! PS: I'm going straight to bed, but I'll try to answer you guys tomorrow. Good night!

Teen Driving Safety - Why Parents Should Be Concerned

Conventional methods for improving teenage driving persist due to their proven practicality and effectiveness. As a parent, you naturally aim to protect your child, especially as they become a teen driver. Despite alarming statistics on teenage driving accidents, research highlights your crucial role in promoting safe driving. You can lead by example, demonstrating responsible driving behaviors. Establish a driving agreement with your teen, detailing acceptable and unacceptable behaviors. Ensure they practice driving for 30-50 hours in diverse conditions. This increases their chances of being a safe, responsible driver.
Still worried about your teen's driving safety? Consider technology solutions like GPS tracking and smartphone apps. These tools monitor and encourage positive driving habits. By installing a GPS tracker in your teen's car, you access vital data: speeds, destinations, and travel times. This information lets you assess their driving safety.
The CDC offers extensive, free resources on teen driving safety on their website. Safe driving is a communal responsibility. Your involvement is key to helping your teen become a safe driver. Remember, we're all in this together!

2024.05.15 03:35 XWolvtronX I Hate Phones

Hello everyone, I'm a junior in high school and I think phones are a massive issue. I don't think calling your parents or texting friends is bad but things like Tiktok and Instagram make everyone zombies. I will look around my classroom after finishing my work and all I see is people staring down at these little boxes not interacting with each other. I literally see friends sit next to each other just to both be on Tiktok. I have a genuine concern about the effects this will have on everyone in the near and far future. People really don't realize how important it is to interact with one another on a daily basis. Sure, it can be awkward sometimes when you don't know what to talk about, but seeing people not even look at each other is something I think we as a society really need to take notice of and deal with. I myself also want to interact with people, but I can't because they're all too busy watching a video they'll forget within minutes. I understand being anti-social, but you can't just hide from people by staring at a screen. Books are similar, but at least books give you knowledge and strengthen your brain. All of this mindless scrolling can only be negative, and I don't think anything could change my mind about that. It just hurts me to see that I'm the only one I've noticed look around and really realize what everyone is actually doing. Everyone is sitting there staring at a piece of glass instead of communicating or doing something productive.
I know people reading this may be at school themselves, I want you to look around and tell me what you see. The sad thing is this rant is so "long" that half the people I'm referring to don't even have the attention span to read through it.
This is really one of my biggest concerns for our generation and generations to come, I can only imagine how it'll be in the future. Thank you for reading.

2024.05.15 03:28 Spiritual_Mousse3929 Website Builder

I am looking for website builder that has multi-level subscription options, API capabilities and AI generate text builder response (although I think I can skip this if they have an API). It is for a job board website; scalability is also something I would like. I was looking at jobboard.io and they don't have what I am looking for? if I did have to create a site, I only need a place to link everything how does that work?

  • Artists like Wyclef Jean and Marc Rebillet endorse the tool, highlighting its potential to revolutionize music production.
  • Music AI Sandbox offers an innovative approach to music creation, transcending traditional methods of loop generation.
  • Marc Rebillet acknowledged the tool for enhancing his music with its ability to inject a human-like quality into sounds.
Wyclef Jean compared the Music AI Sandbox to an "infinite crate," contrasting it with his traditional process of crate digging at record stores to find unique sounds. This analogy showcases the expansive potential of AI in music creation.
"makes it sound, ironically, more human."
Despite the mechanical nature of AI, its application in music through Google's Music AI Sandbox is seen to enhance the human-like quality of the produced sounds, suggesting a nuanced intersection between technology and creativity.

2024.05.15 03:05 ProblematicSyntax Transcription App using Whisper

I've been working on an app that I thought some of you might find useful. It's a web app that lets you transcribe audio and video files locally using OpenAI's Whisper model. Here’s a quick rundown:
If you’re interested in giving it a try or have any suggestions, I’d love to hear your feedback!

2024.05.15 02:59 PyroAwl Boomers and Illness

Let me preface this by I am usually strictly a lurker and occasional commenter, HOWEVER, this week has been horrendous and my moms boomer friends and family are just. Grrr. I want to rant.
Last thursday my grandfather passed away. This Sunday (Mother's Day for ya'll in the know) my adoptive father suffered a stroke. (Happy mother's day mom!)
Yesterday he's in the hospital obviously being put through the ringer to determine all the things they pay doctors to determine. (How bad it was? I assume. I was not there). Now my parents are right at the end of boomers (63 & 65 years old) as are all their friends. The difference being behavior.
My adoptive dads sister is a horrible woman (please call her Karen), she has zero children, has no idea how to behave around children and was a teacher to children for who knows how long (I dont image the kids have fond memories of her) and yet insisted I could not inherit anything from my adoptive dad because I was not biologically his. Currently she is on a warpath because mom did not tell her about dads stroke (she tried calling her, she did leave a voicemail when she couldnt reach Karen). Except, shes making it about her - and is now calling everyone else and bitching about it. Cool. One of the people she called was a mutual friend of my parents.
This friend texts my mom and asks if he can come see dad. Mom says no. The tests theyre doing require dad to not be distracted, lights off, etc (again Im not there, all I know was it involved doing brain scans and asking questions). Guess who showed up? Friend. Mom had litterally just told this man that he could not come visit and he shows up at my dads hospital room. I have no idea how he knew what hospital, much less what room. Meanwhile hes all butthurt he cant talk to dad.
When mom, my husband and I were having dinner later she was telling us about this I actually said "You do know most people in my generation and younger would die before they assumed they could show up somewhere - especially a hospital room - unannounced right?" (Hubs and I are youngish millenials at 32). Mom actually agreed.
Like where the heck do they get off just showing up at someone's potential deathbed like that? Ya'll are barely friends.
TLDR; Boomers randomly showing up uninvited to my dads hospital room after he had a stroke are the worst.
Quick Edit: I was at work when writing this and caught an oopsie with parents age (thank you commenter for helping catch that 😂) So I corrected that. 61 & 63 is incorrect. Mom was born in 61, so she is 63. Dad is two years older ish. Karen is older. I know the family friend is around the same age as mom and dad, I dont know his exact age but if I had to guess 63-64 based on the history I know of them.
