first time judge session reports for The Portal Under the Stars

2024.05.15 02:07 Aenimalist first time judge session reports for The Portal Under the Stars

tldr: I ran The Portal for some friends, and we all had a good time. I'd call it successful because we had three characters out of 16 survive, one for each person playing, but they didn't get through everything. Could I have motivated better problem solving and a thirst for more exploration?
Background: Last year I fell in love with DCC after reading about it here and elsewhere. I bought a couple bundles and I convinced my friends to let me run it for an impromptu in-person session about a month ago, (We're all in our 40s and in other games so finding time to play is always going to be tricky.) We were all hanging out with them visiting for the weekend, and the DCC rulebook caught my friends eye. Since I had wanted to judge it, I suggested we try it out on their final night in town, and printed out five 0-level four member character sheets from Purple Sorcerer. There were three players, so my plan was to control two(!) of the 0 level sheets as 8 NPCs.
Session 0: This was done right before the first session, so maybe it doesn't count. I did go over how this game wasn't 5e, being less heroic, more deadly, and that the funnel was a way to play the game during the character creation process,
Spoilers follow for The Portal Under the Stars
Session 1: I had them each have a character named Roberts, with "Oldman Roberts" being their weird uncle, telling them about the Empty Star, the portal, and the riches that presumably lied within. They stopped at the town's single pub, gathered the crew, and headed for the portal. Once there, they spent impatiently picked the lock with a "lucky" roll, frying a promising character and setting the tone.
Three more got killed by the spear throwers, including an NPC with 18 intelligence, my bad. Finally, the falconer of the group sent her hawk through, trigging the last spear with no damage. So far I felt okay about how things were going, as they were starting to think laterally. However, nobody picked up the spears or armor until I had some of my NPCs do it.
The large statue room proved to be equally as deadly. The most intrepid of the party were spared, as they were standing under the giant statue, investigating it, when the first PC decided to leave the room, getting instantly BBQed. Another party member sent in her dog, which got fried, but then she got killed after she collapsed in grief beside it. A couple characters dashed through while the statue burned the others, and one genius player did think to pry off the entrance door and use it as a shield, but still four characters and the dog lied burned on the floor by the time the statue ran out of charges. I felt a little bad, since the death toll was already at eight with the judge's dice coming up badly for the PCs nearly every time. Now that I write this, it also seems that I gave the statue six charges instead of five. Oops.
The characters that had gone through the eastern door noped out of there when they saw the bone piles, and we ended up with three PCs following an NPC through the north door. Here's where I made another mistake. Since it had been some time since I had sent the NPC north, I decided that he had picked a fight with the crystal men and been killed. The PCs came in to see the crystal men all standing around the dead NPC and his torch. They took the wrong lesson that a fight was inevitable and immediately attacked. Amazingly, one PC felled two crystal men on his own, but the other two were brought down. With four crystal men still closing in on the last PC in the room we called it a night.
Session 2: About a month later we were able to meet virtually to finish things off, with me gifting the four remaining surviving NPCs to the players. Since I realized that I hadn't emphasized the importance of using luck, I retconned the last room, allowing one PC with a high luck score another chance to trip one of the crystal men with his staff. He succeeded this time with a modest luck burn. The players had figured out the light attraction by then, but refused to metagame, and the selfish PC who figured things out, Stealin' Roberts, refused to tell the others. I suppose this was consistent with his chaotic alignment, so one crystal man did follow them into the Strategy room, falling down the stairs. Three of the PCs finished off the stalker, found the silver figurine treasure, and things were finally looking up for the treasure hunters.
At last, they had made their way into the clay army room. The trailblazing PC wisely turned tail upon seeing the advancing army, going back to smash all of the clay figurines in the strategy room. Not bad thinking, but nope, the warlord wasn't dumb enough to set up a weakness like that. This showed the party how slow the clay soldiers were, as he had plenty of time to do it, but two of them still decided to test the statues' metal. They were quickly skewered by the surprisingly sharp clay spears. The remaining PC in the room ran away and hid in the Gazing Pool room for a few rounds, cowering in terror behind a column.
Meanwhile, one PC made his way through the hallway west of the Monument Hall, cautiously opening the door to the Scrying chamber. SSisssuraaaggg didn't care how cautious he was, the PC lost initiative, and died in one bite. So much for that room.
Three other PCs made their way into the Cheiftains' Burial room, and made short work of the seven skulls with only five points of luck burned. Still, one skull did manage to kill a PC in a single calf chomp. The PC in the Gazing Pool room grew tired of hiding in the dark and groped his way to the burial chamber, so unfortunately nobody witnessed the army fall into chaos after the generals' skulls were smashed. The three reunited survivors looted the chamber and hightailed it out of the tomb, happy to survive.
I couldn't argue with their decision to survive, and I plan to award a luck point to the neutral alignment PC who suggested leaving, but it was certainly anticlimactic! I feel like the scenario is flawed in this aspect. Could I or should I have motivated the players to stay for a little longer? They never really tried to figure out why the place existed in the first place. Leaving was very consistent with the old-school mentality, but maybe not so consistent with the funnel spirit. This scenario was harder than I thought, I even skipped "attacks of opportunity" on retreating PCs to lower the difficulty a bit.
Lesson learned - my snap decision of having 8 NPCs caused problems. The players kept trying to force the NPCs ahead, etc, and it was too much for me to judge my first session while controlling 8 NPCs. Although the players did end up needing the extra spear fodder and that worked out, I should have instead just adjusted the difficulty of the scenario down a little by reducing the number of spear throwers, the number of flame thrower charges, etc.

I bought a used 2006 is350 a week back and just noticed that all 4 wheels were each missing a lug nut. I found the missing nuts on the dash but they don't fit. So I have to buy them. Do you know what size nuts fit on these?

2024.05.14 16:15 Westonvt Interior lights in 2002 Chevy Trailblazer are glitching. How to disable them? Turning them off does not affect them.

The interior lights in my 2002 Chevy Trailblazer have a short in them. They turn on randomly while driving, sometimes they flash. Its distracting and a drain on my battery. I generally dont use them anyway for the most part, i usually have them switched off so when i open doors the lights do not come on. But this does NOT stop them from turning on and off randomly. Even though interior lights are turned off on the dash board and turned all the way down they still turn on and off by themselves at various intensities. I'm really hoping I can just unplug them from something without turning off the whole electrical system.

2024.05.14 14:13 Yurii_S_Kh The Prayer Rule of St. Ambrose of Optina To Be Read in Times of Temptation

The Prayer Rule of St. Ambrose of Optina To Be Read in Times of Temptation
The Prayer Rule of St. Ambrose of Optina To Be Read in Times of Temptation (Sretensky Monastery, 2006). 32 pgs.
St. Ambrose, elder of Optina offered to those who came to him with various sorrows and trials a special, brief prayer rule that is possible for any Christian to read. The elder knew from his own experience the effectiveness of these prayers, how they strengthen one's enfeebled spirit, and how they scatter the enemy's attacks if read with faith and hope in God's almighty help. This prayer rule, comprised of the Psalms of David, we offer here together with extracts from the letters of St. Ambrose.
FROM THE LETTERS OF ST. AMBROSE OF OPTINA
Hope in God's mercy and help, and believe that the Lord is powerful to deliver you from all attacks both human and demonic. It is written in the Psalms: The Lord scattereth the plans of the heathens, He setteth aside the devices of the peoples... But the counsel of the Lord abideth unto eternity (Ps. 32:10–11).
I am writing down some Psalms for you that St. David prayed when he was being persecuted by his enemies: numbers 5, 53, 58, and 142. Chose the appropriate words from these Psalms for yourself, and read them often, turning to God with faith and humility. When you are being warred against by despondency, or some sorrow beyond your control, read Psalm 101.
Psalm 3. Of David, when he fled from the face of Abessalom his son, in the wilderness.
O Lord, why are they multiplied that afflict me? Many rise up against me. Many say unto my soul: There is no salvation for him in his God. But Thou, O Lord, art my helper, my glory, and the lifter up of my head. I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and He heard me out of His holy mountain. I laid me down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord will help me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people that set themselves against me round about. Arise, O Lord, save me, O my God, for Thou hast smitten all who without cause are mine enemies; the teeth of sinners hast Thou broken. Salvation is of the Lord, and Thy blessing is upon Thy people.
Psalm 53. For the end: among the hymns of instruction by David, when the Ziphites came and said to Saul: Lo, is not David hidden with us?
O God, in Thy name save me, and in Thy strength do Thou judge me. O God, hearken unto my prayer, give ear unto the words of my mouth. For strangers are risen up against me, and mighty men have sought after my soul and have not set God before themselves. For behold, God helpeth me, and the Lord is the protector of my soul. He will bring evils upon mine enemies. Utterly destroy them by Thy truth. Willingly shall I sacrifice unto Thee; I will confess Thy name, O Lord, for it is good. For out of every affliction hast Thou delivered me, and mine eye hath looked down upon mine enemies.
Palm 58. For the end: destroy not. David's. For a pillar inscription, when Saul sent and watched his house to slay him.
Rescue me from mine enemies, O God, and from them that rise up against me redeem me. Deliver me from them that work iniquity, and from men of blood do Thou save me. For lo, they have hunted after my soul, the mighty have set upon me. Neither is it mine iniquity, O Lord, nor my sin; without iniquity I ran, and directed my steps; arise to meet me, and behold. And Thou, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, be attentive to visit all the heathen; be not merciful to any that work iniquity. They shall return at evening, and shall hunger like dogs, and shall go round about the city. Behold, they shall utter sounds with their mouth, and a sword is in their lips: For who, say they, hath heard? And Thou, O Lord, shalt laugh them to scorn; Thou shalt bring to nought all the heathen. O my Strength, I will keep watch for Thee, for Thou, O God, art my helper. As for my God, His mercy shall go before me; my God shall make it manifest unto me among mine enemies. Slay them not, lest at any time they forget Thy law; scatter them by Thy power, and bring them down, O Lord my defender. The sin of their mouth is the speech of their lips; yea, let them be taken captive in their pride. And from their curse and falsehood shall their final destruction be made known in the wrath of their utter destruction, and they shall be no more. And they shall know that God is sovereign of Jacob and of the ends of the earth. They shall return at evening, and shall hunger like dogs, and shall go round about the city. They shall be scattered abroad that they may eat; if they be not satisfied, they shall murmur. But as for me, I will sing of Thy power; and in the morning I will rejoice in Thy mercy. For Thou art become my helper and my refuge in the day of my tribulation. Thou art my helper, unto Thee will I chant; for Thou, O God, art my helper; O my God, Thou art my mercy.
Psalm 142. David's. When his son Abessalom pursued him.
O Lord, hear my prayer, give ear unto my supplication in Thy truth; hearken unto me in Thy righteousness. And enter not into judgement with Thy servant, for in Thy sight shall no man living be justified. For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath humbled my life down to the earth. He hath sat me in darkness as those that have been long dead, and my spirit within me is become despondent; within me my heart is troubled. I remembered days of old, I meditated on all Thy works, I pondered on the creations of Thy hands. I stretched forth my hands unto Thee; my soul thirsteth after Thee like a waterless land. Quickly hear me, O Lord; my spirit hath fainted away. Turn not Thy face away from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit. Cause me to hear Thy mercy in the morning; for in Thee have I put my hope. Cause me to know, O Lord, the way wherein I should walk; for unto Thee have I lifted up my soul. Rescue me from mine enemies, O Lord; unto Thee have I fled for refuge. Teach me to do Thy will, for Thou art my God. Thy good Spirit shall lead me in the land of uprightness; for Thy name's sake, O Lord, shalt Thou quicken me. In Thy righteousness shalt Thou bring my soul out of affliction, and in Thy mercy shalt Thou utterly destroy mine enemies. And Thou shalt cut off all them that afflict my soul, for I am Thy servant.
Psalm 101. A prayer of the poor man. When he was despondent, and poured out his supplication before the Lord.
O Lord, hear my prayer, and let my cry come unto Thee. Turn not Thy face away from me; in the day when I am afflicted, incline Thine ear unto me. In the day when I call upon Thee, quickly hearken unto me. For my days are vanished like smoke, and my bones consumed like wood for the burning. I am smitten like grass, and withered is my heart, for I forgot to eat my bread. By reason of the voice of my groaning, my bone hath cleaved unto my flesh. I am become like a pelican of the wilderness, I am like an owl in a ruined house. I have watched, and am like a sparrow that sitteth alone upon the house-top. The whole day long mine enemies reproached me, and they that praised me made an oath against me. For before the face of Thy wrath and Thine anger I ate ashes like bread, and my drink I mingled with weeping; for after uplifting me, Thou hast dashed me down. My days like a shadow have declined, and I like grass am withered. But Thou, O Lord, for ever abidest, and Thy remembrance is unto generation and generation. Thou shalt rise up and have pity upon Sion, for it is time to have compassion on her, yea, the time is come. For Thy servants have taken pleasure in her stones, and they shall feel pity for her dust. And the nations shall fear Thy name, O Lord, and all the kings of the earth Thy glory. For the Lord shall build up Sion, and He shall be seen in His glory. He hath regarded the prayer of the humble, and hath not despised their supplication. Let this be written for another generation, and the people that is being created shall praise the Lord. For He hath looked out from His holy height, the Lord from heaven hath looked upon the earth, To hear the groaning of them that be in fetters, to loose the sons of the slain, To declare in Sion the name of the Lord, and His praise in Jerusalem, When the peoples are gathered together, and the kings to serve the Lord. He answered Him in the way of his strength: The fewness of my days declare unto me. Take me not away at the half of my days; in generations and generations are Thy years. In the beginning, O Lord, Thou didst lay the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the works of Thy hands. They shall perish, but Thou abidest; and all like a garment shall grow old, And as a vesture shalt Thou fold them, and they shall be changed; but Thou art the same, and Thy years shall not fail. The sons of Thy servants shall have their dwelling, and their seed for ever shall be guided aright.

2024.05.12 03:25 Standard-Joke-517 2006 volvo s60. Need some advice

Hi all,
I just stumbled on this thread after hunting around. I am a **proud owner of a 2006 Volvo s60, just under 130k miles on the odometer. My plan was to keep this car for as long as possible, however that hope seems to be dying out. I am running into some problems ahead of my bi-yearly emissions test, and I am trying to figure out if this car is worth keeping or not.
First off every 3 weeks since January this year, I am finding myself having to fill the coolant reservoir tank. I am not exactly sure where the coolant seems to be going. There are no signs of a leak underneath my car, when it is parked for example. Also, I am not detecting any signs of a head gasket leak (white smoke out the tailpipe, frothy oil cap). I fill the reservoir and then 3 weeks later "low coolant, stop engine" comes on the dash. Thankfully my dad gave me a few pre diluted antifreeze containers, but I've already used all of them :(
Next, my car seems to be having the telltale signs of a bad ETM. Check engine light on, low idles, and stalling sometimes after starting. I've gotten brand new MAF, oxygen sensors replaced but the problem persists. I think this is likely a sign of the ETM going out, but I understand everyone has different symptoms. My car will start, however the RPM's dont go above 1000, rather it starts, then immediately drops, sometimes the engine will misfire, and the car will stall. Other times the idles will be low but the car will run, and it really depends.
I'm taking my car to our mechanic next week to do a once-over. Given how old my car is plus the mileage, I am not interested in putting in more money than what my car is worth. Hoping someone can help me out on this!

2024.05.10 15:12 VeenaSchism Help, I think I destroyed my car

This is my OWN FAULT I know, however I;m hoping someone on here can help. I have a 2006 New Beetle tiptronic automatic, and I love this car - I bought it new but it only has less than 15K miles on it.
Inside the car, the rubberized plastic became really sticky and I tried a dozen remedies suggested by various places on the internet without success (didn't try ethyl alcohol till after this tale of woe - that seems to work!)
I got the brilliant idea to remove the dash panels to use actual paint remover. I wont bore you with my weeks of effort to do so but I think I destroyed the radio and the center dash getting it out. There ended up being so many little plugs behind it, and though I photoed each one before unplugging it, I really doubt I'm going to be able to reconnect them all. I feel like youtube has led me to have way more confidence than I should have and now all I want to do is undo this mistake (once I buff out all the horrible scratches I introduced).
I do have the New Beetle service manual -- it is way bigger than the Bible. What I found behind my center dash was more complicated than it shows and much harder to detach --
Any inspiration, comiseration, advice, videos or other VW wisdom would be greatly appreciated. There's no VW mechanic around here so that is why I began down this path of madness!
Thank you all in advance!

2024.05.09 18:23 yahnnieck [Champion Concept May Contest] Gerth, Deadman driving

I always wanted to design a champion that feels like flying a plane. Or driving a train. Or a boat. Or a car. Or... push a wheelbarrow? Since the mini rework kind of robbed Tahm Kench of his identity as league of legend's only cab company, I wanted to refill this niche. So unleash all your suppressed road rage with

Gerth, Deadman driving

May Contest: This concept fulfills the third prompt of the contest since catapulting allies while changing the direction is only possible using another spell should count as unique. Hopefully it also meets the forth prompt for his whole kit revolves around driving people or using his wheelbarrow in various ways.
The being that currently calls himself Gerth is one of the oldest demons haunting Runeterra, associated with death and decay. After eons of carrying the deceased to their afterlife, Gerth began to question his eternal task because of a dead cow he found humming with life. Far from being a grim reaper, the ever cheerful Gerth gained new purpose in retrieving the dead from the very afterlife he had once brought them to.
Classes: Warden, Enchanter
Roles: Support
Region: Unlocated
Gerth is a burly man with pale skin and dark, tousled hair that peeks out from under a broken top hat. He wears a pinstripe waistcoat that is far too tight and stretches across his broad chest and pushes a rickety wooden wheelbarrow in front of him. He usually walks with a slight hunch, but can also jump over his barrow with extraordinary agility if he wants to.
In battle, Gerth either rams his opponents with his wheelbarrow or slaps them with his muscular arms.
Lore
Over the eons, Gerth has had many names and even more shapes, from a dung beetle that rolls the skeletons of small animals in front of him to the jock with the wheelbarrow. But in all these eons, Gerth had never asked himself for a meaning. To be precise, he had never asked himself anything at all. He was more a law of nature than a conscious being, no more inclined to philosophy than gravity.
The first question Gerth asked himself was when he delivered a small stuffed bear to a woman in Noxus. This was new, because as far as Gerth could tell, this bear had never lived, apart from the fact that its fur was made of plant fibers. And the woman's house was certainly not the afterlife. He had never delivered something other than cadavers. So, the first question Gerth asked himself was “why” and he was never going to find an answer.
The second question Gerth asked himself was when he picked up the same woman a few years later. She was just ash rolling finely over the ground, so he swept her up with a shovel and carefully loaded her onto his barrow. As he did so, he noticed the very same teddy bear he had delivered before stare at him with flaming red eyes. Again, the question was “why” and this time again Gerth was not to have an answer.
The third question Gerth asked himself, when he picked up a cow; and he spoke it out loud. He was called to an animal market on the outskirts of Shurima, where a cow, just ripe for the butcher, had died in the sun. The hungry birds had been too quick and already pecked thick holes in her flesh before anyone could take the cow away.
The farmer who had owned the cow turned to Gerth and said: “Let it be yours for three. Only three I say, and I don't want any more. Because her meat stinks so much that it drives my customers away.”
Gerth was already counting the coins out of his pocket as he thought. Again, the question was “why”, but this time he was able to ask it. “Why?” asked Gerth, closing his fist around the money, the farmer looked at him as if he was stupid. Which was perhaps understandable; after all, Gerth had only asked himself three questions in his entire eons-long life so far. “Because the meat smells dead. Away I say, and only for two if you do it now.”
Gerth thought until its head hurt. Which was quick, as he wasn't used to it. “No,” he finally said. “I smell more life in this cow than in all the cows mooing in the pasture. I see the worms gnawing at her flesh, the flies flying into her nose and laying little white eggs from which a whole new generation of flies will hatch. And each of these flies will fear death just as this cow feared death.” The farmer wanted to hit Gerth with his fist, but he held back because he knew he was dealing with a demon. “You say this cow reeks of death, but all I smell is life. So why? Why am I picking up this cow and not one of the other cows in the pasture?”
The farmer couldn't give him an answer. ‘You're a demon,’ he stammered, ‘That's what you do.’
“Hm”, said Gerth. Then he laid only a single coin into the farmer's hand and loaded the cow onto his barrow. He listened to the buzzing of the flies, the gnawing of the worms and the bubbling of her rotting guts as he left the village. A small murky stream flowed not very far away. Gerth put the cow in there, because he knew that it would please the hungry fish.

Passiv: Every time he uses Close Call or the active part of Traffic Violation, Gerth gains a Stack of Road Rage for 4 seconds, stacking up to 2 times.
Road Rage: Directly after using Close Call or the active part of Traffic Violation, Gerth can perform a follow up attack using his wheelbarrow with significantly shorter animation. If he hits a champion or large monster, he consumes all stacks of Road rage, gaining a shield for 2.5 seconds, blocking up to 20/30/40/50/60 (+ 3% of his maximum health) damage per stack. Allies inside the barrow are also granted the shield.
Active: Gerth jumps towards a target location by his wheelbarrow, turning it around and changing his position relative to it.
E Mourning Veil
Cooldown: 24/22/20/18/16
Cast Time: 0.25
Active: In a swirl of fabric, Gerth veils the ally inside his wheelbarrow all in black, granting them 30/35/40/45/50% bonus attack speed and empowering their basic attacks with long lengths of black fabric to deal additional 32/44/56/68/80 (+ 10% AP) bonus magic damage on-hit. Melee champions also gain 200 bonus range and become ranged champions for the duration, allowing them to attack while being driven around by Gerth. The empowered basic attacks of his ally increase Gerth’s bonus movement speed from The Hearse by 20/25/30/35/40% for 1 second. The veil persists for 4 seconds or until the ally leaves the barrow.
Gerth can only cast this ability when an ally is inside his wheelbarrow.
R Sky Burial
Cooldown: 140/120/100
Cast Time: none
Maximum Range: 3500
Impact Radius: 300
Active: Gerth charges up for up to 4 seconds to increase Sky Burial’s range and damage. After that, he can hold the charge 4 seconds further.
After 0.5 seconds Sky Burial can be recast within the duration. If Gerth cancels the channel himself, or the charge completes without reactivation, the cooldown is reset to 6 seconds.
Recast: Gerth uses his wheelbarrow as a catapult, launching the ally inside towards the target location, dealing 100/150/200 (+ 20/25/30% of the ally’s maximum health) physical damage on impact to all enemies hit, knocking them up for 1 second. The damage increases by up to 100% depending on the duration of the charging done.
Gerth can decide how far he wants to hurl his ally, but the direction is determined by the wheelbarrow and always the exact opposite direction to it.
Gerth can only recast this ability when an ally is inside his wheelbarrow. He can however start charging without an ally in his barrow.

2024.05.09 02:00 Aislabie My All-Time Top 100 Snooker Players

So, the World Championship is over for another year, and by Tuesday morning I was experiencing serious snooker withdrawals. So I did what any self-respecting adult would do, and set about spreadsheeting the 100 greatest snooker players of all time. This post is going to be an exploration of the list I came up with.
Probably Asked Questions:
  1. What were your criteria? Players were ranked using a points system for wins and runner-up finishes in the World Championship, Triple Crown and Ranking Events, as well as 147s and century breaks. There is also a modifier for "intangibles", where I have added subjective judgements to reflect a player's contribution to snooker - both positive and negative.
  2. So it's based on your opinion? To an extent, yes. And even without the "intangibles" it would be because I set the points system.
  3. Is there anything else we should know before you start? Probably not; let's get cracking. I will point out when I get to a player if I have made a significant judgement on their "intangibles".
Honourable Mentions

60 - Jackie Rea (NIR) - 1957 World Championship finalist; utterly dominated Irish snooker throughout the period without a World Championship tournament or equivalent.
59 - John Virgo (ENG) - 1979 UK Champion, also receives a small boost for his services to snooker.

51 - Perrie Mans (RSA) - 1978 World Championship finalist and 1979 Masters Champion; also prolific in non-ranking and domestic events. Despite this success, I can find no evidence of him ever making a competitive century break.
We now enter the top half of the Top 100, where the overwhelming majority of players will be household names.
50 - Gary Wilson (ENG) - 2022 and 2023 Scottish Open and 2024 Welsh Open champion; with 236 career centuries and 5 147 breaks.

48 - Tony Drago (MLT) - 1997 International Open finalist, with 132 career centuries and 1 147. Receives a large boost for sheer talent and for making snooker so entertaining, but you could make the case for him being ranked far lower (in the 64-78 range).
47 - Horace Lindrum (AUS) - 1952 "World Champion"; three time World Championship finalist. His 1952 triumph is marked down significantly due to the nature of the event.
46 - Rex Williams (ENG) - 1986 Grand Prix finalist and two-time challenger in "World Championship" matches, with 1 147 break and a significant bonus for services to snooker.

31 - Matthew Stevens (CYM) - 2000 Masters Champion, 2003 UK Champion and two-time World Championship finalist - both of which he should arguably have won.
30 - Graeme Dott (SCO) - 2006 World Champion, and finalist in 2004 and 2010; possibly snooker's most profound Crucible specialist.
29 - Dennis Taylor (NIR) - 1985 World Champion and 1987 Masters Champion, Taylor enjoyed a prolific career and continues to work in service of snooker.
28 - Stephen Maguire (SCO) - 2004 UK Champion, with five other ranking titles, as recently as the 2020 Tour Championship.
27 - Walter Donaldson (SCO) - 1947 and 1950 World Champion, as well as six other finals.
26 - Kyren Wilson (ENG) - The 2024 World Champion has also won five other ranking events, and will only continue to climb the Top 100 in the future.
25 - Paul Hunter (ENG) - His life was tragically cut short before he could achieve his full potential, but not before winning The Masters in 2001, 2002 and 2004.
24 - Terry Griffiths (CYM) - 1979 World Champion,1980 Masters champion and 1982 UK Champion. A true snooker great who became one of the great snooker coaches.
23 - Peter Ebdon (ENG) - 2002 World Champion, finalist in 1996 and 2006, and winner of eight other ranking events including the UK Championship.
22 - Ken Doherty (ÉIR) - 1997 World Champion and reached seven other Triple Crown finals and won five more ranking events.
21 - Mark Allen (NIR) - 2018 Masters champion and 2022 UK Champion; also a prolific winner of ranking (10 others), major non-ranking (3 others) and minor ranking (5) events - only missing a big World Championship challenge.
20 - John Parrott (ENG) - 1991 World Champion, two years on from the heaviest World final loss of all time. Also won the 1991 UK Championship, seven further ranking events, and reached three Masters finals.
19 - Stuart Bingham (ENG) - 2015 World Champion and 2020 Masters champion. The ultimate journeyman come good, and nobody loves snooker more than Stuart Bingham.
18 - Cliff Thorburn (CAN) - 1980 World Champion and three-time Masters Champion, but curiously never reached the final of the UK Championship.
17 - John Pulman (ENG) - Pulman is technically an eight-time World Champion, but seven of those came in the Challenge Match era, and have been devalued accordingly.
16 - John Spencer (ENG) - Three-time World Champion in 1969, 1971 and 1977. Also one countless non-ranking events in this time.
15 - Jimmy White (ENG) - The second-greatest player never to have won the World Championship, at least according to my spreadsheet.
14 - Shaun Murphy (ENG) - 2005 World Champion (as a qualifier), 2008 UK Champion and 2015 Masters champion; I have no problems with his snooker, only his commentary.
13 - Ding Junhui (CHN) - The greatest player never to win a World Championship (yet), and the greatest player ever to come from China.
12 - Alex Higgins (NIR) - Alex Higgins is a tricky one; a boorish lout, but also 1972 and 1982 World Champions.
11 - Neil Robertson (AUS) - A truly remarkable breakbuilder who ground out a title in 2010, has since regressed a little bit as I assume he tries to make cookbooks make sense.
10 - Judd Trump (ENG) - Not a Crucible specialist unfortunately, but Trump is a master of hoovering up smaller championships.
9 - Fred Davis (ENG) - An eight-time World Champion, Fred was dominant as soon as his brother left the sport, and once played the greatest black-ball final of all time against Joe.
8 - Ray Reardon (CYM) - A true trailblazer when it came to treating every frame as important; Reardon went on to win 6 World Championships (1970, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976 and 1978. What a machine.
7 - Mark Williams (CYM) - If you slap a ball anywhere down on the table, Williams will pot it. Still going pretty strong as he put together a stunning Tour Championship this year.
6 - Mark Selby (ENG) - A four-time World Champion and one of the all-time great players.
5 - John Higgins (SCO) - It's easy to forget how good Higgins was at his prime. Phenomenal breakbuilder.
4 - Joe Davis (ENG) - The grandad of early snooker, Davis won 15 titles by the time he chose to retire and let someone else (Fred) have a go.
3 - Steve Davis (ENG) - Just such a good player, really the first one who took this whole endeavour seriously.
2 - Stephen Hendry (SCO) - Simply the clear second-best player.
1 - Ronnie O'Sullivan (ENG) - Simply the best of all time, no questions asked.

I hope you have all enjoyed this! I am now sleep deprived. Oops.

2024.05.08 21:42 Popular_Judgment_576 Hard Brake Pedal When The Car Is On 2006 AUDI A3 2.0 TDI

Hi All
Just wanted to see if any of you have some sort of diagnosis for a problem on my 2006 AUDI A3 2.0 TDI .
One day whilst I was driving my car and coming up to some give way markings wanting to join the main road I went to press my brake pedal to stop when suddenly the pedal went rock hard and the car would no longer stop. This resulted in me being in first accident as I collided with another when coming out.
I understand when the car is off and I pump the brake pedal it should go rock hard but when I turn the engine I am able to apply good pressure to the brake pedal. However I don't understand why it would go rock hard whilst the car is on. Checked brake fluid which is fine front pads have got plenty of life rear pads less but still usable.
The one thing I do recall is the whenever I am going above 50 mph or could just be generally at any moment my handbrake light flashes on the dash and I hear 3 beeps. Not sure if this relates to it any way but i've had this handbrake light for a while now.
Ever since the accident i've had a really inconsistent brake pedal, sometimes hard to push sometimes easy to push.
Any sort of advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.

2024.05.08 02:22 Big-Rooster-1999 2006 chevy trailblazer atlas 4200

2006 chevy trailblazer atlas 4200
Alright guys I need help. Bought this trailblazer that sat for a couple of months and ran fine on the 45 minute drive home. The day after I started it up and warmed it up and it started misfiring randomly. Drove it for a bit and it clears out with some driving and only does it at stoplights. And only when it's at operating temperature. Occasionally when driving I get a flashing check engine light. I know it had some really old fuel in it and I've ran that all out but I've still got the random misfire. I plan on starting with a fuel filter and the maf. And then after that I'm doing spark plugs abd coils if that doesn't fix it. Any pointers/ am I diagnosing it completely wrong? Will be active so pls help me out 😆

2024.05.08 00:14 DaelinZeppeli The Worst Video Games of All Time [Updated 2024] (According to Average User Ratings on Backloggd.com)

The Worst Video Games of All Time [Updated 2024] (According to Average User Ratings on Backloggd.com)
Link: #1-#36
Link: #37-#72
Backloggd.com is a website that allows users to rate, review, log and keep track of the games they’ve collected and/or played. For the previous 2 years, I’ve made a post about the “Bottom 36” games on the site. (36 being the number of games shown on a single page of the site). This year, I’ve expanded my post to the “Bottom 72” (2 pages worth on the site). The average rating for each game is determined by averaging the website’s user’s ratings for a game and then ranking based on that average score. A game must have an adequate number of user ratings to qualify for ranking. The site also does not cover all games ever made. (There is a policy to exclude PSN “Easy Platinum Shovelware” (with notable exceptions) from the site. While many truly obscure games that do not have an entry on IGDB are not on the site’s database of games; these include many “Steam Shovelware Asset Flips” that have simply gone completely under the radar.)
Bottom 36: 2022
Bottom 36: 2023
Since last year, the site has continued to gain more popularity, so more games have reached the threshold of number of reviews required to make it onto the list (as required by the site). Additionally, there have now been a few new games from 2023 that have made it onto the list (including Redfall, which was brand new when I made my post last year, so was missing despite many Redditors commenting wondering where it was).
Below is the list of the worst 72 rated games of all time on the website. Included is the ranking of the game (from worst to least worst), the game’s title (or the name it is better known as), the year of the game’s release and the number of places in the ranking it has changed from last year. (nc = no change. “new” may refer to games that were positioned #37-#72 last year as well as new entries to the list.)
Worst 72 Games of All Time (2024):
  1. Superman 64 [1999] (nc)
  2. Bubsy 3D [1996] (nc)
  3. LOTR: Gollum [2023] (new)
  4. Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis [2006] (+1)
  5. Yandere Simulator [2014 (First Public Build). 2020 (Official Demo).] (-2)
  6. eFootball [2021] (new)
  7. Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing [2003] (new)
  8. Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric [2014] (-4)
  9. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (Atari 2600) [1982] (-2)
