Best online income tax class

2024.05.15 19:17 LegalRecord1188 Best online income tax class

I need 2 more classes to be eligible for the CPA exam, business law and income tax. For the first time ever in my life, I actually failed a class, which was Income Tax at LSU online. I didn’t learn anything in that class, it’s entirely self taught. I’m wondering if I should take an in person class or try an online class again. I’m 22 weeks pregnant so I’d like to finish these courses before my due date.
Are there any other accredited classes anyone recommends? Just trying to explore my options. I would have done an in person class at my local university but they only offer those classes in fall and spring semesters.

2024.05.15 19:15 jans_void are my parents selfish or do I demand too much ?

hello everyone ..take this as a AITH kinda thing I guess or I am just ranting… I 17F am going to do my 12th is being told I am too demanding and selfish from my parents …I don’t think me and my parents really have a bond like I am sure I lost that feeling towards them long back cause of how toxic they are.. in 10th I had a dream college/school I wanted to get into and when I told my mom about it she always bought it up in fights and said “there is no way any college will take you in let alone __” “You don’t deserve to go to such college “ Which actually demotivated me quite a lot and if you ask about my marks ..I have always been a good student..in exams I have always scored more than 85% and in final exams always in 90s so I don’t know why these words were being thrown at me .
Fast forward to end of 10th board exams and the results…i scored 96% and was selected in my dreamed college through the first listing… it felt nice ..like I proved my parents wrong but I never said it out loud …after 10th everyone seemed to have a party given by their parents but I had none …just to flaunt my marks to an uncle of mine whom I don’t even like my father called him at our for a “party” …I got nothing for my hard work and even in the summer holidays after boards I was locked in my house cause my father said “there is no reason for you to roam outside… it’s not a big deal to score in 90s in 10th exams”. Yet again I was demotivated and depressed…
There is just so much more but if I were to go in detail this would be a really long post.
Fast forward to now …starting of my 12th I want to give CLAT exam which btw my mother chose for me and I don’t mind it ….but I NEED coaching…I see all my friends preparing for such and going to coaching so I told my mom that I would like to join a CLAT coaching that will help me a lot …but again no… She is like you should self study, there are multiple free things available that you should do…. “Why are you always so demanding and telling me to throw money for things you wanna do” …..
I don’t get it ??? Like sure I ask for things here and there but they are legit stuff like skin care and body care stuff a girl would need to take care of herself??? At this point it feels like soon they’ll ask me to pay for half the rent of the house , money for the food I eat etc….
But when it comes to spend money at stuff they need to complete their wishes they are always ready ….their wishes like my mom loves learning new things so she is always ready to pay for her classes…she is always ready to pay for her travelling things and when it comes to my future it’s like it’s not even important…
Everything I wanna learn , any classes I wanna attend it all seems waste to them ….
I am so tired and done for ….it feels like till I earn my own money I’ll keep fighting for these little things here and there ….i don’t know what will even happen to my future…

2024.05.15 19:03 NeoMatrixJR Batteries/future tools

I have the older Craftsman 19.2V tool set I got when we got married from my in-laws. They've held up great for me as a homeowner for the last 17 years. When the Ni-Cd or NiMH batteries (not sure which they were) finally gave out I picked up a pair of the lithium replacements craftsman made that still fit these tools and a charger. (batteries with the stem, not the notches) Fast forward to today. I'd imagine these tools will continue to run for me for WAY longer than I would expect. Especially the reciprocating and circular saws that see much less use than my drill. Also...my sister-in-law just dropped my drill down the basement stairs into concrete 🤬. It still works....for now. I'm imagining my drill and/or my batteries will give out before the rest of my setup. Looking to the future I'm wondering what I will want to replace my kit with and if I should look into eventual drill/battery replacement if I can find something to adapt to my current kit and only replace what's needed. Please, just...no Ryobi. I don't want another set of stem attached batteries. Generally light use. Homeowneself-repair work, but willing to buy good tools that'd last just as long for me. I know people 💩 on craftsman a lot, but they've done the job for me. Oh, nearly forgot...I also have an older DeWalt portable vacuum that runs on an 18v "stem" battery....would love to adapt that over to a lithium setup as well.

Gold IRA vs. Traditional IRA: Which is Right for You?

When planning for retirement, choosing the right investment vehicle is crucial to ensure financial stability and growth over the years. Two popular options among investors are the Gold Individual Retirement Account (IRA) and the Traditional IRA. Each has its unique features, benefits, and considerations. In this article, we'll compare these two types of IRAs to help you decide which might be the right choice for your retirement savings.

What is a Traditional IRA?

A Traditional IRA is a type of retirement account that allows individuals to make pre-tax contributions, meaning the contributions may be tax-deductible depending on your income and other factors. The investments in a Traditional IRA grow tax-deferred until withdrawals begin, which are then taxed as ordinary income. The primary benefits of a Traditional IRA include the immediate tax relief on contributions and the ability to invest in a wide range of securities like stocks, bonds, and mutual funds.

What is a Gold IRA?

A Gold IRA, on the other hand, is a special type of IRA that allows investors to hold physical precious metals like gold, silver, platinum, and palladium, rather than paper-based assets. This type of IRA requires setting up a self-directed IRA account with a custodian that specializes in this area. The main appeal of a Gold IRA is the opportunity to diversify one’s retirement portfolio with a tangible asset that historically holds its value well, especially during times of economic uncertainty.

Which is Right for You?

Deciding between a Gold IRA and a Traditional IRA largely depends on your investment goals, risk tolerance, and financial planning needs:
Ultimately, the choice between a Gold IRA and a Traditional IRA should be made with a comprehensive understanding of your financial landscape and in consultation with a financial advisor. Combining both types of IRAs could also be a strategy to balance risk and reward effectively. Whatever your decision, the key to retirement planning is to stay informed and proactive in managing your investments.

2024.05.15 18:36 FederalBalance2199 Cervical/ vaginal exam

Hi, based in the Uk- I had an internal exam today to try and see if there was any signs of endometriosis in my vagina but it came back clear. She also took swabs but unsure what they’ll be able to see or assess? The next step she mentioned is an ultra sound- I wonder is it normal to not see endometriosis at this stage and even at the ultrasound stage should I still keep pushing if clear for surgery to assess instead? Thanks

2024.05.15 18:25 Federal-Ad814 Physics c thoughts

For a little context I took ap 1 got a 5 and am currently doing mvc and self studied for both physic c exams. The mcqs were ridiculous the content was reasonable but why did almost every question need a paragraph the frqs for mech weren't that bad except frq 3 what was that I MIGHT have gotten like 7/15. The e&n frqs though were actually outrageous I only did well on the first one, the third one i think I did ok on but why are rc circuits the one thing I always just go blank on I feel like the frqs tested on less common topics allot and barely touched the common ones like how do you write a e&m test with only one question that even involves gausses law. I'm think with the curve I hopefully got like a 4bin mech and passed e&m

2024.05.15 18:24 jakesim2 Some opinions of the game as of now

Now, I am thoroughly enjoying this game immensely. However, yes it’s alpha, there’s definitely some blatant changes I could make or recommend.
Hela: Overtuned, imo. Rate of fire needs to go down or damage per hit needs to go down. Tbh, I think Rate of Fire would be more ideal.
Spiderman: VERY fun character, but web swing control definitely needs some tuning. Sometimes it’s just way too fast. Has a lot of potential.
Melee in general: I think the field of view needs to go back a little bit. Sometimes in fights the effects and all the general crap going on just gets in the way and you feel way too close to the character.
Punisher. Shotgun damage could go down slightly. I’m content with the rifle. Smoke could last 1s longer?
Ironman: Here’s one of my bigger problems. Now that Hela and Punisher are the dps meta in most areas..Ironman is basically null as he’s countered by both. I feel as if he had some kind of side thrusters or even flares, he could have some sort of self-defense against kits like Hela and Punisher. At the end of the day, a decent player will take out IM before Ironman can auto them down.
Doctor Strange: TLDR; his portals fuck your frames up.
Amazing game with so much potential and here’s to hoping open access comes out MUCH sooner than later. First game I’ve truly enjoyed in a very long time.

2024.05.15 18:09 DrDoritosMD [Stargate and GATE Inspired] Manifest Fantasy Chapter 16: Power Play (Part 2)

Author’s Note:
Upvotes and comments go a long way in helping me reach a larger audience <3
First
Inside GB-2
“Huh, that wasn’t there before,” Ron said, pointing to a new hole in the wall – another passageway.
Henry turned to look where Ron pointed. Sure enough, there was a new doorway. It must’ve been a section that opened after they restored the power. “Huh, yeah. Let’s check it out.”
He went through, finding a short hallway past it and another room just beyond. Henry signaled for his team to form up, preparing to breach. As they stepped in, they found themselves in a brightly lit room filled with various types of furniture – empty pedestals, comfortable-looking single couches, and empty desks with opened cabinets.
Henry stepped further into the room, eyeing the oddly arranged furniture. The single couches were lined up in neat rows, all facing the same direction – towards the empty desks. It was like some sort of waiting room, but for what?
“Is it just me, or are these couches set up weird?” Isaac asked, voicing the question on everyone’s mind. “I mean, who lines up a bunch of single couches like this?”
“Strange, indeed,” Sera agreed. “They seem arranged as though for spectators, yet naught lies before them to behold.”
Like a movie theater, Henry thought. However, there weren’t any screens or holograms to watch. If there was a clue, it would probably be within the couches themselves.
Dr. Anderson approached one of the desks. “Perhaps this was some sort of office or workspace? The desks and cabinets certainly suggest that.”
Isaac then decided to touch one of the seats, eliciting no reaction. He pushed further, sitting down on one of them. At that point, the couch began to adjust its form to better suit Isaac’s envirosuit, as if able to optimize its comfort for the user. Then, a nozzle slowly stretched up from the seat’s headrest area, stopping just short of Isaac’s neck. “Woah!” Isaac bolted up as the nozzle bonked against his helmet.
“Neural interface, maybe?” Henry wondered. “I think we should leave this to the researchers… unless you wanna volunteer as a lab rat?”
“Hell nah,” Isaac vigorously declined the offer. “Hey, there isn’t anything on my helmet is there?”
Henry dusted off the back of Isaac’s helmet with his glove. “Nope, you’re clear. Just gotta hope it ain’t grey goo.”
He could see the dread and uncertainty through Isaac’s visor. Henry gave him a pat on the shoulder. “Well, think about it this way: if it really was grey goo, it would’ve gotten to us – or the Spiranids, for that matter – long ago. C’mon, let’s secure the next room.”
With a nod, Isaac fell in line behind Henry as they moved towards the doorway leading to the adjacent room. Peeking inside, it couldn’t be further from the rest of the room’s they had encountered so far; not at all what they could’ve possibly expected inside an ancient, high-tech alien facility. It was expansive, with a layout that reminded Henry of a high-end restaurant. Comfortable booths lined the walls, while tables of varying sizes filled the central space. The furniture looked almost human – perhaps even indistinguishably so.
The room was tinted with a soft, cozy yellow light. The warm and inviting ambiance felt soothing compared to the clinical feel of the previous areas. The lighting, combined with the plush booths and elegant tables, gave Henry a nostalgic impression.
“Well, I’ll be damned,” Ryan remarked. “Think they got any cheesecakes?”
If it wasn’t for the alien decor and helping of sleek devices scattered around the room, Henry would’ve thought they were back home. Hell, there was even a bar, filled with exotic liquors that could probably fetch millions at an auction – or give them the trip of their lives. Beside it however was something unusual. Where he might’ve expected a path leading to the kitchen, he instead found a wall with a slight, rectangular-shaped recess that was just big enough for a tray.
He glanced at Isaac, who returned a knowing look. “Replicators,” Isaac said.
Henry smirked. “Personally, I’m partial to synthesizer, but to each their own.”
They gathered around the wall, which didn’t seem to respond to their presence. Taps on the wall didn’t seem to do anything, either. Henry considered probing further, but decided against it. “Alright, let’s not take any chances. We’ll make a note of this for the research teams to analyze later. Let’s keep looking around.”
Henry split apart from the others, pairing with Ron as they continued to walk around the room. They soon came across another doorway on the far side of the room, which opened up into a short corridor that led into multiple sets of doors. Each had a symbol on the wall beside the doors – one that depicted the basic figure of a person.
Ron pushed open one of the doors, taking a peek inside. “Looks like even the Gatebuilders needed restrooms.”
Finally! “Alright, let’s take a quick break here. Bring everyone else over.”
Thankfully, the amenities within were easily comparable to those of modern society. The toilet looked like a toilet, and the sink resembled a sink. Even in a space as mundane as this though, the Gatebuilder’s technology was evident: self-cleaning surfaces and enough technology to put a high-quality Japanese bidet toilet to shame. At least, that was just from the look of things. Henry didn’t think now would be the best time to check whether the restroom had ass-washing robots or not.
After a few minutes, Henry regrouped with the rest of the team around a central table in the ‘restaurant’. Dr. Anderson was already present, his archaeological kit opened and a spread of alien items organized on the table.
“Ah, Captain!” Dr. Anderson noticed him approaching. “We found cabinets that weren’t empty. Most of the artifacts appear to be personal effects.” He held up a necklace, emphasizing his point. “Jewelry, memorabilia, and some other artifacts that I – admittedly – can’t quite describe.”
Dr. Anderson pointed his pickup tool at a small disc laid out on a padded mat. “It hasn’t shown any active properties yet. It’s rather peculiar; it seems to be a solid disc. Lightweight, unblemished surface, no visible markings or etchings.”
“Have you tried touching it directly?” Henry asked.
Dr. Anderson frowned, manipulating the claws of his pickup tool. “Well, not directly.” Catching the implications in Henry’s query, he continued, “I’ve checked for radiation, toxins – all clear. While I’d advise against direct contact, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t the least bit curious.”
Henry nodded. Yeah, the Doc was probably right, but what was discovery without risk? He reached out and picked it up, rotating it in his hands. As his gloved fingers brushed against the surface, the disc suddenly emitted a soft glow.
Henry flinched slightly, almost dropping the disc in surprised. As he fumbled with it, the disc seemed to respond to his touch. Suddenly, a series of objects materialized on the table, appearing out of thin air.
“Oh, shit!” Ron exclaimed. “It just… spawned a bunch of stuff!”
Henry stared at the new items. Several containers, probably holding some kind of food, were still sealed tight and impossibly effective at insulating its contents. It was crazy to think that the food inside might still be hot after who knows how long.
Next to the containers was a bracelet. Possibly normal, possibly enchanted or integrated with technology they couldn’t hope to understand. There was also a bottle of some bright blue liquid – probably for drinking, but there was no way to be sure until Perdue tested it. And then there was the picture, showing a strikingly human couple, holding each other underneath a gorgeous alien sky. It reminded him of memorabilia people would sometimes keep in their wallets, though why humans were there was a mystery.
The last object the disc spat out was a thin, transparent sheet. Coincidentally, it was about the same size as a smartphone. If he had to guess, it probably had the same function as one, too.
“Incredible,” Dr. Anderson gawked at the items. “The disc must be the Gatebuilders’ version of a wallet, somehow using dimensional storage technology!”
“Akin to the Holding Bags,” Kelmithus noticed. He peered into his own Holding Bag, his expression indicating that he was connecting the dots. “Fascinating!”
Dr. Anderson then inspected the image, his face reflecting the same confusion Henry felt when he first saw it. While they continued to sort through the items, Henry explored the sheet further. The moment he tapped the screen, a holographic interface sprung into existence above it.
What he had initially thought was a simple hologram was something far more advanced, almost indistinguishable from reality itself. Almost instantly, they were surrounded by mountains and valleys, details springing up to form a realistic, three-dimensional map.
It was like a pocket holodeck. The only anchors the projection had were the various icons and pockets of text floating around – and the fact that the hologram was transparent enough for him to see his surroundings and his teammates.
Sera seemed to be the most shocked out of all of them. He couldn’t blame her. The sight was surprising enough for himself, who was even familiar with the concept through sci-fi; how much more alien would it seem to someone from – effectively – the past?
“I’ve not beheld such a spell… ever!” she exclaimed softly, pausing to gather her thoughts. “Hold on…” she continued, pointing to the distant peaks. “Why, yon mountain range! Does it not strike you as familiar?”
“Huh?” Ron squinted at it. “Does it?”
“No, yeah, it does!” Isaac said. “Shit, uh, is that the Ovinne Mountain Range?”
Henry brought up the file for the Ovinne Mountain Range on his visor, comparing it to the hologram. “Huh, yeah, it is. What’s a map of that doing in here, though?”
Dr. Anderson raised his hands in the air and spread them apart, mimicking a zoom. Lucky for them, the alien tech seemed to understand what they were going for. Now up close and in full detail, the Ovinne Mountain Range dominated the room. Somewhere in the mountains, an icon that looked like a pair of glasses sat right on top of a Gatebuilder tower, barely poking out of the mountainside.
Ryan crossed his arms as he scrutinized the hologram. “Is this what, Find My iPhone?”
“Hmm… rather likely,” Dr. Anderson agreed. “This device must be some sort of Locator.”
“Locator, huh?” Having this clue was an incredible breakthrough, but he noticed something else. “And right where the Ovinne Mountain Campaign’s supposedly taking place, at that.”
“Indeed, that you mention it, such alignment is surely noteworthy,” Kelmithus remarked. His voice took on a more excited note, “Be it fate, perhaps?”
Henry smirked. “Hah, you’re sounding a bit like Sera, now. Well, looks like fate’s telling us where to go next. Let’s pack this up and head back.”
They carefully stowed the various artifacts in their holding bags, Henry holding on to the Locator. They made their way back to the locker room where they first entered, everyone excited for the next step in their mission.
Henry stepped through the airlock first, emerging on the other side. As he did so, a faint sound caught his attention. It was distant, muffled, but definitely not a sound that belonged to this facility. He wanted to take off the envirosuit, but it seemed that had to wait.
Ron came through the airlock after him. “Bro, you think –”
Henry held up a hand, stopping him short. He raised his weapon, picking up on the ‘something’s not right’ vibe.
Activating his infrared vision and using the laser mounted on his M7, Henry searched for signs of thermal distortions, just like he’d done back at Duke Vancor’s mansion. Ron did the same. As the rest of the team emerged from the airlock, they quickly caught on to the situation. Without a word, they joined them in securing the room.
After clearing the locker room, Henry signaled to move on to the lab next door. It was just as empty as the locker room, but now the sounds were more audible, definitely coming from the hallway just outside. Instructing his team to hold still, he crept toward the doorway to investigate.
He peeked around the corner, and felt his stomach drop. There, in the main hallway, was a group of soldiers. They were decked out in distinctive black armor and cloaks. They had no identifiable markings or insignia on their armor, but it was obvious – these were Nobians.
Henry pulled back, returning to his team. “Contact outside. At least a dozen Nobians securing the hallway.”
Ron’s expression grew serious. “Shit. Any idea on their entry point?”
Henry positioned himself behind a desk, aiming his weapon at the doorway. “Probably the same way we came in.”
“Main corridor’s the only play, huh?” Ryan said.
The main hallway only had one line of sight, and it just happened to be the only way out. Well, the only one they could reasonably access. The facility probably had other exits or fancy teleporters, but they’d already scoured the area for the former and wouldn’t be able to figure out the latter.
“Dozen hostiles doesn’t seem like a lot,” Isaac pointed out, taking out another Black Hornet from his bag. “We’re still good on ammo, too.”
Ron shook his head. “Dozen? Yeah, a dozen that we can see.”
“Owens is right,” Henry agreed. “We can’t confirm their numbers outright. If I had to guess, it would probably be at least fifty. Manageable, but I’d prefer that to be our last resort.”
“How might we fare with a disturbance?” Sera offered.
Kelmithus gripped his staff. “I might conjure an echo of noise distant hence. It shan’t last, but it can afford us enough time for our escape.”
Kelmithus’ plan seemed like it could work, but only if the Nobians didn’t know they were here. “No,” Henry disagreed. “They’ve seen our MRAPs outside. We’d get surrounded.”
“How about negotiation?” Dr. Anderson suggested, a hopeful note in his voice.
“Negotiation? With the Nobians?” Kelmithus questioned.
They all knew what the Nobians were like. It really did come off as a ridiculous idea, but what if Dr. Anderson was right? The archaeologist defended himself, “I know, I know. However, we have yet to confirm their hostility, and it would not serve us well to initiate hostilities with the Nobians.”
Taking in the silence as contemplation, he continued, “If talks break down, we hold our ground here. It’s not ideal, but we’ll control the engagement area and prevent them from flanking us.”
Henry reviewed the situation again. 12 hostiles, but they should expect the worse, so at least 50 hostiles plus failed negotiations. Holding the only way out, they were likely spread out between the hallway, the cave system, and possibly even the forest outside. Dr. Anderson’s plan was solid, but he had a few minor qualms. In particular, holding the line meant possibly exhausting themselves in a battle of attrition.
“Alright. We’ll open with negotiations. I’m skeptical, but it's worth a shot. Should that fail, we can’t engage in a drawn-out conflict. We’ll disrupt their positions and quickly move to the cave outside.”
“Smoke grenades and flashbangs,” Ryan muttered.
“Affirmative,” Henry said, nodding in agreement. “If we can’t see them, we’ll level the playing field so they can’t see us.”
“Captain,” Kelmithus quickly interjected, “Bid me aid your efforts. I’ve insight enough to create fog. I’ve learned from our encounter with the Sentinel Lindwyrm.”
“You can replicate that heavy fog?” Ron asked.
Kelmithus held up his palm, producing an opaque puff of steam to prove his point. “Indeed so, Lieutenant. Adequately do these envirosuits shield us, that I might harness more extreme temperatures for more effective casting.”
Henry was impressed with how quickly the archmage grasped such a concept. “Good. Yen, get that drone into the cave. We’ll hold for updates.”
Yen nodded, carrying out Henry’s order silently. The drone’s feed directly streamed to their HUDs, and after a few minutes, Isaac looked up. “Done.”
Henry analyzed the data. They had visual confirmation of a dozen Nobians inside the facility itself and a staggering forty outside, both in the cave and around the cave entrance. It was an assumption, but there probably weren’t many cloaked soldiers past the hallway. He sighed; the worst-case scenario would have them facing a hundred men in total.
It was a challenge, but the drone’s intel granted them a critical tactical advantage. He analyzed his minimap, selecting and sharing a route with minimal enemy contact. “After clearing the facility’s entrance, we’ll proceed along the designated path. Upon exit, I’ll deploy a flare to signal our movement to the MRAPs for extraction. We will then rendezvous with Zulu-9 and coordinate with air support before re-engaging to secure the site.”
His team nodded, fully on board with the plan. He took a deep breath to steel himself before checking his watch – 16:24. “Alright, time to show ourselves.”
Letting his M7 sling over his chest, Henry prepared two flash grenades – one in each hand – before stepping out. With his team in tow, he moved to the center of the hallway, catching the attention of one of the Nobian patrols.
“Attention, Nobian forces! We request parley. I am Captain Donnager of Alpha Team, Tier 6 Adventurer. We are on an official quest sanctioned by the Adventurer’s Guild. We have no intention of hostilities and seek to discuss our presence and objectives to ensure mutual understanding.”
As Henry’s words echoed through the hallway, the Nobian soldiers snapped into action. He heard the sounds of bowstring being drawn taut and the rasp of metal as swords cleared their scabbards. His hands tightened around the flash grenades.
He kept his gaze steady, projecting a sense of calm; of confidence – enough to convince the Nobians that even outnumbered, he and his team were still no match for them. More soldiers joined the patrol, until all twelve of the previously identified Nobians were upon them. They kept their distance, but Henry could feel the tension boiling.
Just as the standoff seemed to reach a critical point, the air in front of them seemed to fold outward from itself, like watching the effects of gravitational lensing on light. A figure coalesced from the distortion – so this is what invisibility magic looked like.
The man was broad-shouldered and tall, seeing eye-to-eye with him, even despite the extra inches in height the envirosuit gave. As the last wisps of the cloaking magic faded away, Henry found himself staring into a pair of piercing gray eyes that seemed to bore into his very soul.
The newcomer had an angular face and was clad in black armor with a different sheen than the black armor of his comrades. Silver trimmings and an insignia emblazoned on his chestplate – a dagger through a swirl of mist – differentiated his status. A cloak of the same dark hue billowed behind him as he walked forward and drew his sword.
Keeping his sword to the side, he stopped a respectable ten meters away from Henry. “I am Carvus Alnect Virelius, Umber Vicearch of the Order of the Shadow.” He then pointed his sword at Henry, declaring, “Of desecrating sovereign Nobian territory, you stand accused.”
As Carvus spoke, more soldiers materialized alongside him, shimmering into existence as they dropped their cloaking spells. Henry had expected this to happen, but seeing it play out still sent a chill down his spine. How many more were still lying in wait?
The Vicearch kept his weapon on Henry, eyes narrowing. “Commander unto commander, I offer a choice: cede your Holding Bags, that secure passage may be granted unto you. Refuse, and you shall be declared as spies and enemies of the Nobian Empire, your lives forfeit to swift execution.”

2024.05.15 18:01 Previous_Science7675 Why Is Life Insurance Important for Self-Employed?

Life insurance is a financial product that provides a lump-sum payment to designated beneficiaries upon the death of the insured person, through life insurance companies in Sri Lanka. This payment, known as the death benefit, can help cover funeral expenses, replace lost income, pay off debts, and provide financial security for loved ones left behind.

For self-employed individuals, life insurance in Sri Lanka is particularly important for several reasons:
· Income Replacement: Self-employed individuals often do not have the same safety nets as employees, such as employer-provided life insurance or pension plans. Life insurance can help replace lost income for their families if they pass away unexpectedly, ensuring that their loved ones are financially secure.
· Debt Coverage: Many self-employed people have loans or debts associated with their business, such as business loans, mortgages, or credit card debt. Life insurance can help cover these debts, preventing financial burdens from being passed on to their heirs.
· Business Continuity: For self-employed individuals who own businesses, life insurance can be crucial for business continuity. It can provide funds to cover expenses during a transition period or help buy out a deceased partner's share of the business, ensuring the smooth continuation of operations.
· Estate Planning: Life insurance proceeds can be used to pay estate taxes or other expenses associated with transferring assets to heirs. This can help preserve the value of the estate and ensure that assets are distributed according to the individual's wishes.

Life insurance, similar to retirement plans in Sri Lanka, provides peace of mind for self-employed individuals, knowing that their loved ones and businesses will be financially protected in the event of their death. It is a crucial component of financial planning for anyone who relies on their income to support themselves and their families.

How do I find the right life insurance policy for my needs?
Finding the right life insurance policy for your needs involves assessing your financial situation, understanding your goals, and comparing various insurance options. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you through the process:
· Assess Your Needs: Start by evaluating your financial obligations, including outstanding debts, mortgage, future expenses (such as college tuition for children), and the income replacement needs of your dependents. Consider how much coverage would be necessary to meet these needs if you were to pass away.
· Understand Types of Life Insurance: There are two primary types of life insurance: term life insurance and permanent life insurance. Term life insurance provides coverage for a specific period (e.g., 10, 20, or 30 years), while permanent life insurance (such as whole life or universal life) provides coverage for your entire life and includes a cash value component. Determine which type aligns best with your needs and preferences.
· Calculate Coverage Amount: Use online calculators or consult with a financial advisor to estimate the amount of coverage you need based on your financial obligations and goals.
· Compare Quotes: Get quotes from multiple insurance companies to compare premiums for the coverage amount you need. Consider factors such as the company's financial stability, reputation, and customer service.
· Review Policy Features: Pay attention to the features and riders offered by each policy, such as accelerated death benefits, guaranteed insurability options, and waiver of premium riders. These features can add flexibility and additional benefits to your policy.
· Check Underwriting Requirements: Understand the underwriting process for each insurance company, including medical exams, health questionnaires, and pre-existing conditions. Some companies may offer simplified or no-exam underwriting, which can be beneficial for certain individuals.
· Read the Fine Print: Carefully review the policy contract, including terms, conditions, exclusions, and any limitations. Make sure you understand how the policy works and what is covered.
· Consider Additional Riders: Depending on your needs, consider adding riders to your policy for additional coverage, such as accidental death benefit riders, critical illness riders, or disability income riders.
· Seek Professional Advice: If you are unsure about which policy is best for you, consider consulting with a licensed insurance agent or financial advisor who can provide personalised recommendations based on your financial situation and goals.
· Regularly Review Your Coverage: Life insurance needs can change over time due to factors such as marriage, the birth of children, career advancements, or changes in financial obligations. Review your coverage periodically to ensure it still aligns with your needs and make adjustments as necessary.

What should a life insurance policy include?
A comprehensive life insurance policy should include the following key components:
· Death Benefit: This is the primary component of a life insurance policy. It provides a lump-sum payment to the designated beneficiaries upon the death of the insured individual. The death benefit amount should be sufficient to meet the financial needs of the insured's dependents and cover outstanding debts, funeral expenses, and other obligations.
· Policy Term or Duration: For term life insurance policies, the policy will specify the coverage duration, such as 10, 20, or 30 years. Permanent life insurance policies provide coverage for the insured's entire life.
· Premiums: The policy will outline the amount and frequency of premium payments required to keep the policy in force. Premiums can be paid annually, semi-annually, quarterly, or monthly.
· Cash Value (for Permanent Policies): Permanent life insurance policies typically accumulate cash value over time, which can be accessed by the policyholder through loans or withdrawals. The policy should specify how the cash value grows and how it can be utilised.
· Riders and Optional Benefits: Policyholders can often add additional coverage or benefits to their life insurance policy through riders. Common riders include accelerated death benefit riders, which allow the policyholder to access a portion of the death benefit if diagnosed with a terminal illness, and waiver of premium riders, which waive premium payments if the insured becomes disabled.
· Coverage Exclusions and Limitations: The policy will outline any circumstances or events that are not covered by the insurance, such as suicide within a certain period after the policy is purchased or death resulting from illegal activities.
· Policy Renewal and Conversion Options: For term life insurance policies, the policy may include options for renewal or conversion to a permanent policy at the end of the term without the need for a medical exam.
· Policy Ownership and Beneficiary Designation: The policyholder has the right to designate the policy's owner and beneficiaries. The owner has control over the policy and can make changes to beneficiaries or coverage as needed.
· Grace Period: The policy should specify a grace period during which premium payments can be made after the due date without the policy lapsing.
· Policy Surrender and Lapse Provisions: The policy should outline the process and consequences of surrendering the policy or allowing it to lapse due to non-payment of premiums.

It is important to carefully review the terms and conditions of a life insurance policy before purchasing to ensure that it meets your needs and provides the necessary financial protection for you and your loved ones.

2024.05.15 17:51 roseyposiepie Passed Step One

Hi all,
I've been lurking in this subreddit for the past two months and I got the P today so I thought I'd give some advice and do a write-up on my experiences.
First and foremost, I had a disability and had to apply for accommodations. I started the process in November for my test in May and submitted a packet of disability records and medical records going back to elementary school. If anyone needs accommodations, start as soon as possible and get a disability consultant if you can.
I used UWorld throughout my first two years of preclinical to study for NBME tests during my curriculum so I started dedicated with probably 30% complete and an average of 60%. The day I took my test I had 75% complete with an average of 64%. UWorld is a study resource first and foremost, so I spent a lot of time reviewing corrects and incorrects and walking through what changes to the question stem would make the given options the correct answer.
I only did Forms 25-27 because my school only gave us 3 vouchers, and I couldn't afford to buy more CBSAs, but I also did UWorld Self-Assessments 1-3. Scores: Form 25 (diagnostic) 56%, Form 26 64%, Form 27 72% (the week before I took Step 1), UWSA1 68%, UWSA2 62%, and UWSA3 69%. I got sick a few days before I took the test so I stopped studying and focused on getting better (chronic illness sucks), so I didn't do the Free 120 like I planned. But I had recovered by the time I took Step 1. Taking a few days before the exam off was probably the best thing I did for myself, actually. I didn't realize until I was getting better how exhausted and burned out I had been for the past few weeks.
I used CramFighter by Blueprint Prep to organize my study schedule. It was completely free. My main resources were Dirty Medicine, Pathoma, First Aid, and then reviewing those UWorld questions. I started doing 40 a day and the two weeks leading up to my exam I was probably doing 120-160 a day. I usually did a full practice test every Monday (take it in the morning, review in the afternoon) and then Tue-Sun spent my morning working through UWorld questions and my afternoon reviewing content. I usually studied 5-7 hours a day, depending on how my week went. I had 6 weeks of dedicated, but I decided to take the test 5 weeks in and delay to the extra week if I needed it (I didn't, I enjoyed my week off).
Day before the test, I woke up early so I would go to sleep early, and I spent about an hour and a half exercising out the stress. Day of the test, I had a big breakfast full of protein and fiber, and snacked on protein bars throughout the day so I didn't have a blood sugar crash. I also drank about 2 liters of water. Use your breaks! I spent them walking around my testing center or meditating (I know it sounds lame but breathing work actually works).
My best advice would be that you are your own worst enemy. If you think you're going to fail, you're more likely to fail. I told myself the entire time that I was definitely going to pass and that studying for it was just going through the motions. Otherwise, I think I would've been paralyzed by the stress.
Good luck to everyone out there!

2024.05.15 17:49 Unhappy_Tap9696 How often & how to you get your levels tested?

I was wondering how everyone goes about getting their levels checked and how frequently you get them done? I had a scare in December that luckily picked up my poor cholesterol levels from a random blood test. Since then, I’ve managed to get a free cholesterol check at my local clinic a few weeks ago but if I’m honest it was a bit of grief. How are we all going about it? ive seen amazon do some self-test kits but unsure how reliable they may be? (From the UK)

2024.05.15 17:43 Blackberry0594 Timeframe for practice exams?

Hello! This is my 3rd time sitting for the exam. The last 2 times I used Themis, but this time I’m sticking with Adaptibar only for MBE. I noticed that they have practice exams. When is a good time to start doing them? I have zero guidance since I’m self studying, so any tips?
I have finished review of all MBE subjects and have done around 500 questions total. Thaaaanks

2024.05.15 17:41 shag_ontop OCR computer science

Only thing going through my head before this exam was I’m cooked ahhaha even the smartest kids who get 8s and 9s in science and maths were getting 5s and 6s during the mocks so I fully thought I was cooked. Turns out the exam was not bad at all I found it fairly easy tbh the only thing I forgot about was the IPV 4 and 6 questions and I think I repeated my self a lot in the essay question but considering my target was a 4 and I got 6 in my mocks I feel I may of done very well and if I do a similar performance in the 2nd paper (if ocr don’t screw us over like they did last year) I have a chance to get at least a 6 maybe more.
How did you guys feel about the exam

2024.05.15 17:40 mehmilani If I coulddo it, you can too.

If I coulddo it, you can too.
As a middle-aged foreign pharmacist graduated many years ago, this was the toughest hurdle to overcome. I used the rxprep book for prep. Took me about 2 months at a daily avg of 4 hrs to read and review. I added the test bank to my schedule over the final two weeks. I decided to skip chemo II altogether as I thought I could use the little precious time I had to focus on other high yield subjects. Fortunately I got only 3-4 questions related to cancer.
My own assessment pre-exam was I felt I could use a bit of luck to pass. Math problems were generally easy to me so I wasn't too worried about that. I come from a country where pharmaceuticals are predominantly generic, and I did a terrible job memorizing the brands in the rxprep book. I think I maybe memorized 40-50% of the bolded brand names.
I did not take any pre-exams. But I self tested using the uworld test bank. I would add new subjects as I reviewed them and generate tests in batches of 100 questions. My results were consistently in the 63-68% range. I was feeling very discouraged at not seeing any improvement over the last two weeks. In fact, I would postpone my exam if my eligibility didn't expire on the date I had booked my exam for.
I can't say the format of the exam was as I expected it to be. I was aware that it was mostly going to be case based. But the test bank had me imagine that they are likely to give me a case and then give me multiple questions related to that same case. In reality, it was nothing like that. I was given almost 100% case based questions, but it was a new and lengthy case for every single question. About 30% of the time, the case was almost unrelated to the actual question (you could tell the answer was the same regardless of what's in the case). I realized 4 hours into the exam (120 more questions to go) that I had to rush if I was going to see all the questions before time was up. I think I answered the last question about 30 seconds before the bell.

2024.05.15 17:36 Magazine_Ill is it better to study one course untill it's finished or multiple courses at the same time?

i am preparing for an exam next year. the exam will have 9 courses.
i thought i would rank these courses from hard to easy and try to finish the hardest courses first so that i have more time to practice with previous years' exams.
obviously, i will try and see what works for me. but what do you think?
i will be self studying this whole year. and i am afraid that i will lose motivation after some time.

2024.05.15 17:27 SouthOrder3569 33rd Rathian "Seekers", Traitors of Rath

(Warning, because I haven't posted in a bit and am not sure how this would fall for some folks, but this one is a bit "Horror Movie" inspired, and a bit gory/violent)
Traitors of Rath
Post Lord Daug's Disappearance
Lord Daug had vanished, reports indicating he may have been lost in battle with enemy forces that he had been hunting through the wilds. Jeremy snorted at that, served the fat bastard right, the rathians may hold the noble in high regard, probably brainwashed by something in the water on that damned planet they loved so much, but Jeremy wasn't from Rath and by the emperors sitting ass he knew better than to trust in a noble. Which had made what he and the guys were planning a lot easier to stomach.
He nodded at Nel as the man spooned him some gruel into his bowl, a mix of ration packs and of some kinda local plant the rats had said was good to eat. That was another thing! What kind of self-respecting man trusted those THINGS? Every single rath born trooper treated them like they were little mini officers, it was DISGUSTING. There was no way the stories about the nobles asses butler were even halfway true, just stories to keep the men in line. Like they would be scared of a rat.
Jeremy resisted the urge to spit and signed at Nel, making sure the seargent couldn't see the signs. Nel signed back, and Jeremy smiled, their plan was ago, after tonight they would slip off and signal to the xenos that they wanted to surrender. Of course, the seargent, the only brainwashed bastard of Rath in their whole squad would protest, but they had a way to fix that, emperor issued too. Sure, the xenos were barely better than animals, but they at least had food, and weren't a thrice blighted noble or officer telling him what to do.
Jeremy took a spoonful of the rather decent gruel and hummed to himself as he ate. He would be first watch, and then when time came for shift change the seargent was supposed to relieve him. Then they'd be ready to have a talk with the seargent all seven of their remaining men.
...
Jeremy stirred slowly, since they weren't gonna be part of the guard after tonight who gave an imperial damnation if he slept on duty. But something was wrong, he couldn't figure out what the bad feeling was, but he struggled his way out of the blankets he had tucked around himself vaguely panicked. He hadn't been with the reigment long, but he had been a scout long enough to know this silence...was bad.
Carefully he moved back towards the little outpost they had occupied, some kinda poured stone stuff, like he knew what that shit was, with a heavy metal door. Whatever was coming, it would be safer with a few more lasguns around him. Having reached the edge of the clearing around the outposts entrance he looked around carefully and seeing no sign of danger dashed for cover in the doorway, the inset door offered plenty of cover for him to take while he knocked the passcode.
Or would have, had the door not been ajar...and the scent of blood wafted from within. Jeremy froze. That was a bad sign...a very bad sign. That was a LOT of blood he was smelling...but if someone had attacked, why hadn't he heard it? Slowly carefully, he pushed the door open further with the barrel of his lasgun. Even if he would have preferred to retreat, doing so alone was probably certain death, especially considering all his kit was inside.
The door swung open stiffly, as if stuck on something...and then something fell from the top of it into Jeremy's arms, he fumbled for a second, catching it between his hand and lasgun. Then he screamed and chucked away Nel's head, his lasgun was back up and at the ready aiming at the door. While he panted in fear. Then he heard something crunch the snow behind him, he spun around and opened fire blindly into the small stand of trees that surrounded this outpost.
His shots blew chunks from the trees and caused steam to rise from new craters in the snow, but no figure emerged from the moonlit shadows to face him. And that only made the terror worse. Jeremy spun and body slammed the door, forcing it forward and entering the outpost. Quickly he spun and slammed the door back shut again...only to find his hands in a massive smear of blood. Trembling he looked down and saw Nel's body below, the object that had blocked the door. Slowly his eyes went upwards to the top of the door, staring at the gore.
Trembling he threw his entire body weight against the door as he felt something slam into it with incredible force, only him holding it and Nel's body being in the way kept the door shut, and he fumbled with the latch. It was a secure door, once he locked it, the door would hold, it HAD to hold! Jeremy struggled, every slam against the door forcing him to throw himself back against it, cursing desperately as it failed to lock again and again. Finally, with a heavy clank, the door closed, and its lock fell into place.
Jeremy exhausted, slide downwards in the pool of blood at the door, happy that the 33rds footwear had not slipped in the mess. Jeremy cursed to himself again and stood up trembling as the banging on the door seemed to end. Whatever was on the other side...he didn't see it, but it was no man. No human was that strong, no human could...use the top of a door as a upside down guilotine. With a shudder Jeremy turned from the door and surveyed the room, grimacing as he caught sight of... Jenny, he thinks that who it was, their head apparently inside the now upended stew pot, still.
On the left, Ramsos and Hinkle were both dead, crushed against a wall by the table they'd been seated at, Ramsos slumped forward, Hinkle pinned to the wall by one of the standard issue sporks through his throat. On the right, it looked like Vanessa had been torn limb from limb by something. Massive tears across her body and limbs missing. Looking around Jeremy realized there were two people missing, Lowozky and Seargent Tion. Hope erupted in his chest, maybe they survived? The seargent may be able to deal with whatever was attacking them, he was a veteran he had to know some way to stay alive!
Jeremy looked around frantically trying to think of where they could have gone. "Lowozky! Seargent!?" he called out and then his eyes fell on the only door deeper into the place, he rushed over to it, and pulled it open. Maybe Lowozky had hid in the latrine?
He had.
But he had not survived.
Jeremy wretched at the stench and stepped back. Lowozky had voided himself in death, unfortunately he had been shoved head and shoulders first down the latrine and not the other way around.
The banging at the door resumed, this time harder.
And then Jeremy heard the roar of a chain sword revving.
...
Seargent Tion strode through the snow, covered in blood, he would have changed, but this had been his last decent uniform. He carried his kit on his back, chainsword holstered at his side. His las pistol had been lost in battle days ago alongside his combat knife.
It had made the night more unpleasant than he would have hoped. Then again, it would have been unpleasant either way. Tion shook his head and lamented the loss of seven soldiers of the imperium. It was unfortunate but he could not hold this post on his own, and due to his failure seven men were lost. If the Lord was here he would report to command immediately but...as it was...
He would have to find other imperial forces to report his deriliction of duty, losing seven men to poor morale when they were in his care was a serious failure. Though the Rathian did have to wonder.
How in the world did Jeremy sleep through the racket? Tion shook his head at the mans poor discipline, yet another failing of Tion's, he didn't instill a proper attitude and it showed.

2024.05.15 17:21 sherry_siana a book that i can read while studying, NOT self-help

How do I explain...? I have competitive exams lined up and coming in a week or so. Don't worry about the studying, I got it. But I'm stumped in my break-time and I want to do some light reading during my long breaks.
Are there books that won't get me hooked to the point I throw my life away, but interesting enough to keep me going? Any fiction that has a motivating story that moves me? Any comfort fiction that's relaxing to read? No self-help please.

2024.05.15 17:03 smileyy_mee You helping hand is all I need!

Hey people of gurgaon, I am in an urgent need of your HELP, long story short! I am CA inter student who gave CA inter exams now. I procrastinated a lot and it's absolutely my own mistake.
I am 19 and i already know the result. My parents have never seen me getting a rank other than the first rank. Faced extreme guilt, depressed, self doubt, FOMO during the preparation (more so, coz I come from science background and during this phase started reconsidering my decisions)
My father has directly told me, if you can't pass this attempt, leave CA and your life would be ruined, which obviously won't. But now, I can't live inside these four walls at all. I am kinda person who can push anyy limit when in competition. I wanna see the real world now. I am damn sure I just want to leave my house and in dire need of an internship. I am planning to do mba later on in my career, so that ways it's gonna be beneficial.
I have seen my productivity rise while I was in delhi during foundation. Key factor is I am doing my bachelor's in business and commerce from DU SOL, all because of CA. Hence, I have plenty of time to invest on real life corporate skills. I am ready to be moulded and learn on the go.
If somebody can provide any leads, I wanna join an internship for at least a period of 6 months. It could be from any field, accounts, finance, analysis, marketing, tech (Know basics of python, html, SQL) etc based out in Delhi, gurugram, Noida, delhi NCR. The caveat being i want to learn in the actual corporate world. If you have any vacancies in your firm/ startup, pls do contact me. I am ready to work 12 hrs a day and contribute the max I can. I feel my diverse background is what makes me eligible for roles related to strategic management, founder's office roles, admin and management, finance, business analyst.
I was also the head boy of school so have quite a fair experience in management, be it organising fests, convincing chief guests, managing funds, raising issues from the ground level. I am ready to wear multiple hats and would love to work in a new age startup. As they say, a person is hired and the employee finds his own role.
You can also specify the stipend since I am gonna live on my own, so it matters to some extent to sustain myself here. Hoping for a helping hand to start my career. Thank you so much in advance.

2024.05.15 16:58 PassengerBusy960 My experience with ADHD (sorry for the lengthy post!)

I have recently been diagnosed with ADHD after struggling for several years to catch up to peers I graduated with. Med school took me 6 years instead of 5, put off deciding what to do so just SHO’d for 2 years and then started in a training programme that I am still stuck in several years on from when I should have finished.
ADHD had never been considered because I was, on the surface, doing my job well and had no issues with knowledge or patient safety. Under the surface I was struggling to keep up with my educational needs - portfolio, deadlines, projects, presentations, exams. I kept falling further and further behind - enter low self esteem and other ADHD symptoms which would soon be misdiagnosed as depression.
I grew up in an extremely nosy and judgemental culture where diagnoses of mental health disorders or learning disabilities/difficulties are vehemently rejected and children are often (at least at first) labeled as being lazy, badly behaved, or stupid when they are struggling. This causes a vicious cycle of parents and school becoming increasingly strict or administering punishments to “improve the child” which leads to further problems like anxiety, low self esteem and self worth.
I had a similar experience and felt that I needed to somehow be a high achiever or else I will be considered a failure. So I found a way to cram to meet deadlines and pass exams and succeeded at school. This was obviously not sustainable in higher education but I somehow made it through. I have constantly had thoughts of feeling like a failure, failing my parents and my family.
I burned out hard and had to take a lot of time out of training, and this was put down to “depression”. Yes I was low and yes I had low self esteem because of all the above, but I was not depressed - what I needed was to get enough focus, attention and executive function to just move forward with my life and career. I did not have sufficient knowledge of ADHD nor the need to at the time.
I am glad to have that one friend who cared enough to put it all together and to tell me about the signs and symptoms he has noticed have been bubbling under the surface over the 17 years he has known me that could suggest this diagnosis. If this is of interest, I am now being titrated on medication and my daily life is like night and day.
I am now a little kinder to myself, but still feel apprehension at the thought of sharing my diagnosis as I do not feel I would be safe from judgement in or out of the workplace as there still saeems to be a culture of thinking of ADHD as “the lazy and unmotivated person’s diagnosis”
