So background: his adult sister moved in with their dad because the bum that my husband and their dad warned her against is abusive, manipulative, and neglectful. (I was in a toxic relationship too so I do get it, I’m not putting all the blame on her) she had a kid from another man, and these two toddler with said bum. Anyways, she’s a pig. Not even the dad wants to stay in the house anymore, he sleeps outside in his car because it’s so disgusting in the house. She does nothing to help her situation, and the dad is the one who has to work to feed everyone. She didn’t want to have her baby dad served papers or anything (whatever it’s called in Mexico) for support for her and the kids. Their dad is 70+ years old, and only works about 3 days a week and has to get other odd jobs to get some sort of money. My husbands sister doesn’t cook, or clean the house. It’s rare. The other day my husbands dad called him and told him that he hasn’t ate since the day before and all day that day, that she didn’t make food and he doesn’t even know if the kids ate at all since there wasn’t signs of a meal being prepared. I get depression, I really do but to let your old father and kids go without eating?? Anyways, every time we go over we always take food and groceries. I don’t mind since I know it’s such a help and relief for them. What I DO MIND is that once I get there, I have to do ALL the house chores. Cleaning up after 8 people by myself. I just had my second baby 2 months ago, and have a 3 year old toddler. I have to put the groceries away, wash the dishes, and cook for everybody because she just doesn’t do anything just smoke. Then she holds my baby while smelling of cigarettes. While I get all the chores done. Not to mention. They have no bathroom, toilet, sink. I have to carry water in a bucket to take a bath, in a metal tin. I have to carry water in a basin basically to wash the dishes. All while taking care of my babies and everyone else. I’m also breastfeeding so it’s too much stress for me. Also, I get not having a toilet and having to go out in the desert to go to the bathroom, (I also grew up without water or electricity) but they do it next to the house. The house is in the corner of the street, so everyone sees tp. Everywhere you go there’s dirty tp. They aren’t mindful of cleaning up after themselves, they let the dogs do it (who are also starving and neglected). When my husbands dad used to live by himself, the house and the yard was always clean and tidy. Now it’s just a nightmare. Last month we stayed a week and I almost went insane. I had no time to go visit my own family in this town because I was stuck in the house everyday doing all the chores or else we wouldn’t have a way to eat. Because I’m breastfeeding I’m constantly hungry and just adding to the list of things you have to do in a normal/tour own household, plus all that was so hard on me. I’m not lazy, if I stay with someone I wouldn’t want to feel like a burden and of course I’d do chores for them, but at this level was insane. Now my husband wants to go back, but I told him if he doesn’t find us another place to stay I won’t go. My husband doesn’t drive or have a license, so if I don’t go he won’t go. I feel like a jerk for basically giving him an ultimatum, but I feel like it isn’t fair to me. This is HIS family, he should deal with it, then he didn’t even help me at all that whole week we stayed. With all the other things I do for him, (he’s basically a big baby) he can’t read, write, drive, pay (use credit and debit cards) I feel like it really isn’t fair. The trip is about a 7 hour drive, and the majority of that I drive until we cross into Mexico then he takes over(but there are still some areas I have to drive since the cars are in my name and I have a license) it’s a tough drive plus with my 2 month old I have to nurse, then to have to deal with that nightmare of his family’s living situation, it’s just so hard on me and all for him to have a good time with his family at my expense. I feel like it just isn’t worth it for me, I win absolutely nothing with these trips. I don’t even have a good time and have time to visit my own family. But I still do feel like I’m being a jerk. Anyways, AITAH?
Edit to add: this weekend we are going, there’s going to be a party in this town. My husbands niece is going with her husband and their 1yo, and also my husbands older sister is going. They’re going to stay with my husbands dad in said house. The house that only has 3 beds, with 2 being used by husbands other sister and her kids. So there really won’t be a comfortable way to stay. Also with the way wveryone has to bathe, you have to bring water in a bucket and bathe in the tin, in the bedroom with the beds. So basically you have to kick everyone out while you bath and get dressed and ready. So with 8+ people having to bathe daily, it could take forever.

Honestly I’m still so ashamed and embarrassed but this story is also mostly funny. So I work on a boat as a scuba instructodive guide, and we were on our way to the first dive site and I was just standing around on my phone. My stomach was feeling pretty upset but I had just taken a bunch of medicine because I’ve been sick so I figured it was just the medicine.
I almost trusted a fart but then realized it would be a mistake. But then for some unknown reason I thought maybe it was a fart and I really really had to fart, and all the sudden I feel something in my pants and know I’ve just shit myself.
But it gets worse, I feel it run down my legs and see it on the floor. I make the split second decision to walk away calmly and pretend nothing happened because no one seemed to notice. So I casually walk over and face my ass to the dash so no one can see the diarrhea streaking down my leg. And moments later one of my coworkers was like “What was that???? Did someone poop their pants” And I’m just like “I have no idea”
And he started giving me a weird look and I really thought I was caught and considered just breaking and telling him and hoping somehow he’d understand. But I was determined to keep going so I just kept pretending I had no idea. And asked him if I should clean it up with an engine diaper (disposable cloth, not important)

And then I go “wait I’ll go look and see if we have any toilet paper in the head” So I back myself down to the head, making sure to keep my butt facing the dash.
As soon as I’m down there I quickly wiped the shit off my legs with the diaper, throw it away and frantically checked to make sure you couldn’t see it on my shorts from the back. I was wearing white shorts.
And by some grace of God my crime was only visible from the bottom, again I was wearing white shorts. I can only believe that providence saved me.
Anyways I went back up with the toilet paper but another coworker had already rinsed it.
And then she came up to me and was like “Do you know what that was??? I mean I know what it looked like but…”
And again I was just like “I have no idea”
This was like 8:30/9 in the morning, beginning of the day, I’ve still got two dives ahead of me before we get back to the dock.
Thank goodness I was guiding that day that way I could rinse it all off 😭. Anyways I did the dives, texted my roommate and asked if she could bring me a change of pants, I told her “I perioded myself”. And then I asked off for the afternoon and was able to get cut.
Also my boyfriend was on the boat and was trying to get me to take his shift in the afternoon and I told him “Nope, I can’t be here anymore” And he begged me to tell him why but I couldn’t tell him then in case he gave me away by his reaction. So I texted him about it later.
All I could think about was number one how embarrassed I was, but number two (no pun intended) how in the hell did I get away with it????
I don’t know if no one truly noticed or if someone did and just didn’t have the heart to say anything. But either way glad the whole boat didn’t see it or I would’ve had to quit and leave the country.
So to anyone on here who’s feeling really embarrassed or ashamed about something, I hope my story makes you feel a little better about whatever you’re embarrassed about 😂.
EDIT: For reference this only happened yesterday and I don’t know how to look my coworkers in the face 😭. I’m so embarrassed I cried just thinking about it today, I genuinely cannot believe that happened I keep thinking it was a bad dream. And also I spilled it to my high roommate and coworker just to get it off my chest 😂.
TLDR: I shit my pants at work and it got on the floor, and I’m hoping no one saw.

Let me preface by saying I have zero knowledge of plumbing issues besides just the very basic stuff. As of tonight, both bathtubs and one toilet are backed up. The bathtubs drain very slowly and the toilet never completes flushing. It's only been less than 6 months since the tank has been cleaned/emptied/etc... since it's both my bathtubs and a toilet then I'm thinking about calling my tank guy but I didn't know if those plungers are safe for this or if it would be pointless. I think my only option is to completely resign as a stepparent. I desperately need advice about sustaining a marriage with polar opposite parenting styles, & how to deal with teenage boys with no manners or basic hygiene.
There is a lot of background here I will try to keep as to-the-point as possible. I am 34 with a 10 year-old daughter. My husband is 39 with a 15 year-old son. We each had kids at 23. We are 5 years apart, as are our kids. We were also friends for 5 years before “courting” & built a strong bond of trust already, so yes, we courted. I had rejected him a few times over the years, as I was abstinent after a toxic relationship & did not want to repeat the same patterns. Over the covid lockdowns, we started talking, texting, facetiming more than ever. When he asked me out again, I told him I was not interested in dating without the ultimate goal of marriage, to which he said, “Good. I don’t want a girlfriend, I want a wife.” 3 months later, we became engaged & our marriage is truly amazing & fulfilling in so nearly every way except one - my daughter & I, some of the most playful & outgoing outdoorsy girls you could meet, have no idea how to connect to his son. And there is nothing to make me think it is worth even trying anymore.
Miraculously, husband & I both get along extremely well with our co-parents. I could not see myself with someone that doesn’t. Neither of us have court orders or child support or rigid schedules. My daughter’s bio dad is one of my best friends, & I made very clear that a relationship with me means respecting his role. He said the same of his son’s bio mom. I come from a very blended family in which this is the ideal. My parents were at each other’s weddings & all get along & still get together. Our own coparents attended our wedding a year & a half ago. And that meant the absolute world to me & hopefully if not now, someday our kids.
For sure, my husband could not be a better stepfather. He & my daughter share inside jokes & their own games & pranks. She has her own nickname for him & will run to him & hug & climb all over him. They convinced me to add baby goats to our homestead, & have been tending to & bottle-feeding them both, a beautiful connection & commitment to share. He says, “She makes it easy.” And to put it lightly, his son does not - but I am absolutely not allowed to talk about it without getting ridiculed.
I first met the son when he was 13. Overweight, awkward, all of his hair in front of his eyes. He then retreated to his room. I know him to be the exact same now. He is 6’0 & I think over 200lbs, larger than my dad. He defaults to locking himself in his room. Unless asked to help stack wood or play a game with the rest of us, he only emerges to use the bathroom (in which he never brushes his teeth or washes his hands), or ask his dad for food - of which, he literally only eats yellow rice & chicken. He will otherwise smash an entire bag of “Takis” or flaming hot Cheetos at 10 AM & continuously throughout the day as they are available to him. He plays live multiplayer games from morning often to midnight or 3 AM, with my daughter’s room right next to him, where I blast the fan & AC & ocean sounds to drown him out. Calling this out seemed to be calling stepson out personally, so all I can do is adapt. Daughter thankfully likes it cold.
I have tried to be as soft & supportive in airing my grievances to husband, but they are never taken with grace or accountability. I am not perfect & have definitely been passive aggressive with his reactivity, as he takes my issues as insults rather than something to work on. He casts blame on bio mom or Covid, & now me. “I don’t know what goes on at bio-mom’s house, we moved an hour away & he gets carsick! I’m out of his life!” “It’s because he was stuck inside for 2 years!” “Are you sure you didn’t HEAR him say hi?” “Good news, I’ve been living with him 15 years, never sanitized a doorknob in his life, & I’ve been fine!” “I wouldn’t want to leave my room with you criticizing his every move either!”
Our first night in our new home for example, was a nightmare. My hand lotion moved from the bathroom counter to the back of the toilet - so then into our room immediately. He left the toilet seat open & my razor covered in pubes. He left open bags of chips with crumbs all over the counter. “It’s an adjustment, it’s hard on everyone!” Husband said over & over. This was an understatement, being that my daughter has been raised to ask for anything from snack time to screen time always with “please,” “thank you,” & we eat out of bowls that we put in the sink rather than stack in our room with soda cans & candy wrappers.. I am familiar with the saying, “Living room kids come from healthy families. Bedroom kids do not.” Daughter is a living room kid. Stepson is a bedroom kid. Either way, I had never had personal items used without asking &felt extremely violated by stepson, then upset that husband blamed me for it instead of understanding where I was coming from.
This remains true nearly a year later. My husband has started lashing out while drinking the past few months, accusing me of “HATING” his son, which is extremely hurtful as I do not harbor any hate in my heart for anyone. What I disdain is the way he is raising his son under our shared roof & living spaces, & that he refuses to acknowledge or communicate about it. As things were not greatly improving, I personally had a talk with stepson about basic manners. I said, “When you enter this house without a greeting or making eye contact, it is an insult. It comes off as rude & entitled & I don’t like feeling like a ghost in my own house. This is your house too & I want you to feel comfortable. But you can help me feel more comfortable too.” “Yeah, okay. Sorry.”
I have truly never had a real conversation with this kid. He does say “hi” & “bye” & the occasional “thank you” now. At this point, it is abundantly clear that he does not want me in a step role, & neither does his father, & neither does bio mom. So it seems I have no choice but to let it all go & suffer bad manners & hygiene, silence, & now bitter resentment from husband.
What I have observed is that I actually“coparent” with my daughter’s father. We coordinate around each other’s schedules, we make decisions together, we communicate about her physical, emotional, spiritual, educational, & social wellbeing. Husband & bio mom do not. They parent in isolation & simply let the other do as they please, which has resulted in a child without manners or discipline. This has led bio mom to put the kid on PROZAC without husband’s consent. This horrified me, as someone who only goes to the doctor for stitches. My daughter’s doctor is the naturopath who midwived her in the bedroom she still sleeps in at her father’s house. I understand not everyone is as holistically minded, but I begged husband to get him to a nutritionist first. The child is obese & malnourished. But too late. Bio mom did as she pleased without communication, which seems constant among them.
I have not shared my views as I know they are not welcome. Bio mom is medicated, her other 10 year-old son (deceased dad) is medicated, & now teenage stepson is as well. Husband blames our distance from him which feels like an indirect blame on me, as we are closer to my community & business as husband works from home. But truly they live in the ghetto, & I have always lived on the coast & barely like to drive through those inner cities. I set up a high school tour for them here which is one of the best schools in the state with a tech program I thought stepson would love, but he chose to stay with his friends, in one of the worst schools of the state. He incredibly won class president, though has dropped a bunch of honors classes & continues failing others.
My birthday was last week. When my husband asked what I wanted, I said baby back ribs & family. I just wanted to grill & chill due to an insane work week. I run a housekeeping business & worked for 24 hours in 3 days opening up for the summer rental season. I did not want to go crazy hosting & knew I would if we invited friends. “Are you sure? You wouldn’t be hosting, I will be! You don’t have to do a thing!” He emphasized over & again. So when a friend ended up visiting from out of state, I was ecstatic to invite her & our mutual close friend to BBQ with us. They are single moms with 4 toddlers between them & wanted to camp on our land.
We had a great day grilling & running the sprinkler & feeding the animals. Husband had promised stepson would be outside with us all day. Toward the evening, I asked where he was. “Do you see any other teenagers out there? What’s he supposed to do?” I was hurt. “Well I don’t see any 10 year-olds either, but [daughter] is still out there, & you actually said he would spend the whole day with us. I just want some time all together.” Husband knocked on his son’s door & said, “Hey it’s her birthday, it’d be nice if you come out & spend some time with us.” Then he did, & even if it was just a quick basketball game with his dad & he introduced himself to no one, it still meant so much to me.
So later when we had helped friends & toddlers set up a tent & fire in our woods, I hugged husband & thanked him for bringing stepson out with us, saying family time was all I wanted. “You two have such a healthy relationship,” my friend says. At the time, it uplifted him & he said he loved this friend to death. A few hours later, he said it was “hilarious.”
We had invited stepson’s mom, but she was out of town. My coparent joined us however, & he & husband stayed at camp with the moms & toddlers while I went to tuck daughter into bed around 9. We played some trivia to unwind, said a prayer, & I kissed her good night & went to start the dishes. Husband & coparent came back around 11 when I was ready to go to bed myself. They were suddenly on a completely different level as my slow & steady beer intake. Both their legs were gashed & covered in blood from their hike without a flashlight, which they thought was hysterical. They were loud & silly like, “You can’t go to bed, it’s your birrrfday!” & I realized, ah. They were drinking my girls’ tequila.
Coparent went on a drunk spiel thanking me so much for all the love I am, how I keep the family together, this & that & showering me with slurred praise. Husband was drunkenly yet enthusiastically agreeing & thanking me, saying I was the best. I tried staying up with them to be polite but they were so deep in conversation on a different level that I went to go make the baby goat formula for their 5AM feeding & go to bed. But I couldn’t find their bottles. I raised my hand with the men, gradually higher & higher to ask husband if he had seen them. “I see you have your hand raised, but hang on, let me finish this point,” coparent said. So husband finally noticed, & I cut in anyway asking if he had seen them. “As a matter of fact, no, YOU fed the goats last so I have no IDEA where they are,” he raised his voice, literally pointing a finger at me.
That suddenly spiraled into another drunken heated accusation of how much I hate his son. I started crying & saying all I wanted was for him to be with us today & that I was grateful he brought him out. He fought me saying they can never have a good weekend because of me, called me an “@$$hole,” & said “F you ,” 3 times in a row, upsetting me so much as there was absolutely nothing I could say, to the point I slugged him in the arm to get him to stop. This has happened twice before embarrassingly with alcohol, when he just yells & yells things that are not true & curses at me that I can’t even respond vocally. “You see how she treats me?!” Both men of course freaked out & coparent started yelling at me to listen to husband. This essentially turned into 2 hours of incessant berating from both of them. They both cried during their own tangents. It spun out of asking for baby goat bottles & continued til 2 AM with, for the first time, continual threats of divorce.
“You are not in this relationship & do not need to mediate it,” I told coparent.
“Like it or not, I am! How you treat husband affects all of us! His feelings are VALID & you need to be quiet & listen to him!” he said.
“I’ve heard this all before & it is simply not true! I do not hate stepson & he wants to divorce me because he thinks I do!”
“Emotions cause us to say things we don’t mean, he does not want to divorce you & knows you don’t hate him,” coparent said.
“Oh no, I DEFINITELY believe she hates him. And if I have to spend the last 4 years of his youth with my son being constantly criticized, I will absolutely divorce her!”
“I did not criticize him once today! I never criticize him, I am trying to help us become a functional household!”
And he just went round & round in the same circular aggressions that can only hear themselves. I continually begged for them to stop yelling as daughter’s window was open, the baby goats needed sleep, our rabbits didn’t need that stress. But I got yelled at more for that. “You can’t control passion & you need to sit down & LISTEN to your husband!” Coparent kept insisting. But I had heard it all many times before. I even tried to sleep in the goat pen, trying to settle the poor babies, still hearing the men raise their voices about me, how being critical was just my nature, & then got yelled out of there.
Around midnight, I tried to resign again & go back inside to finish dishes when stepson emerged. “Do you know where Dad is?” “Oh he’s outside, you can probably save him from [daughter’s dad].” He went into the bathroom. So I poked my head out while they continued bashing me & said, “Stepson needs you.” “I’ll be right there.” I went back to the dishes. Stepson comes out of the bathroom. As always, flushes, no faucet (or hand-washing). “He says he’ll be right there sweetie.” No words, back into his bedroom. 10 minutes go by & still no husband as I continue the endless dishes. I poke my head out again. “Did you not hear me? Your son needs you.” “ALL RIGHT!”
Turns out he needed dinner. Despite a huge spread of barbecue & potatoes & corn & pasta & salad & veggies & dips, stepson touched none of it & needed his chicken & yellow rice. So husband literally cooked him dinner at 1230AM, all the while continuing to accuse me of hating him whilst doing so.
Coparent authentically apologized the next morning on the phone. “You screamed at me for HOURS when I was ready for bed to listen to falsities I have heard over & over without ONCE trying to hear me.” He got it. He humbled & admitted specific wrongs & I accepted his apology.
“Sorry” does not seem to mean anything when you throw around the “D” word like that though. Husband pledged to stop drinking. To his credit, 3 days later, he still hasn’t. But when I said, “If you think I am capable of hate, you don’t know me at all,” the best apology he could give me was, “I’m sorry, I don’t think you hate him. But I know you don’t like him.” Then, “I don’t want to divorce you. I feel like I ruined our entire lives in one night.”
I told him that this is going to take more than “sorry” to heal, especially where blame is still cast, & he will have to “show” me. I don’t even know how, through more conscientious parenting? We haven’t slept in the same bed in 3 nights. I haven’t cooked for him, but I still clean after him. We finished some homestead projects in near-silence together.
I think I must resign to being the invisible ghost stepson makes me feel like. Do I have ANY role here but to resign & accept his parenting & continue mine with my daughter alone, while he reaps the benefits of an amazing relationship with her? Isolation parenting just like with stepson’s biomom ? If not for my daughter & our animals & gardens, I would just want to lock myself in a room all day too. But that’s what is so hard for me to get. We have nearly 30 acres & this child is permitted to be a blob on a screen living on empty calories all day & night. I cannot & will not blame a child for anything. I told my husband that when a plant isn’t thriving, you nourish it & improve its environment. He said he didn’t get it. And as deeply as I love him & don’t want to even think about divorce, I have never been so unattracted to him.

I know this may ruffle many feathers but it must be said again,
As I read in acts of the apostles, I am led to believe that they even after being called Christian’s still maintained the worship of God on the sabbath day and that this was a generally understood concept by all. It was never changed. When I googled when this concept was changed, I found this quote from Wikipedia;
“March 7, 321 On March 7, 321, however, Roman Emperor Constantine I issued a civil decree making Sunday a day of rest from labor, stating: All judges and city people and the craftsmen shall rest upon the venerable day of the sun.”
Why then do people disregard the sabbath if it is the day of the Lord our God who is Lord even of the sabbath? Which was never changed by him but by man, which was a commandment as all ten commandments of God. No, the sabbath day is not in the same line as the laws of Moses (ie clean and unclean foods, the yearly sabbaths of land or years of jubilee stuff) it is of the commandments written by God himself and is the only day in the week declared as holy and as a day reserved for God (and of course healing and emergencies as it shouldn’t be a burden and we shouldn’t be slaves to it) but ideally to rest and spend time with God, yet many people regard this as a burden instead of the blessing it is? The gift it is? To spend time with him who made you? Yes you can do that any other day, even everyday, yes, but what I mean is can’t you do that while maintaining the sabbath because God commanded and blessed it. God your provider and he who will deliver you from any conundrum you may be facing that is opposing your sabbath reverence. God knows your hearts and intentions, and his hand is not shortened to save when your intent is right. He set it aside for himself, for healing(because in healing there is rest), and communion with him.
Many argue we can choose any other day yet side eye it if it isn’t Sunday, yet there is no biblical basis of this day being changed and the early church still reserved Saturday because “love the Lord your God with all you heart mind and body”, and “if you love me you will obey my commandments” (not you will obey the law of Moses)….
I’m not here to make this sound like a burden or yoke on anyone, just curious why majority of Christian’s run with Sunday worship when clearly it wasn’t done by Christian’s in the Bible and that it was a concept made long after the first church was established without a biblical basis, is it because it is popular or because of ignorance or because of legality in your country (I remember some countries only rest on Sunday which is a growing trend, a scary one at that). No I am not saying you aren’t a true Christian if you do not worship on Saturday, of course Gods chosen can be found in every church,
I guess I’m here to ask, what’s your view of the sabbath, do you disregard it and only keep 9 out of 10 of the commandments?
Please don’t take away from the topic by bringing up “there’s other more serious issues to be concerned with.” Yes I know, there’s many, and there’s other posts for those. This like others is one of them and something to consider as well.

I am spending hours searching for an ergonomic stick with a round ball sponge on the end to clean/scrub behind toilet. If I could find a stick with a clamp I could attach a rag or sponge. I need the sponge to bend to get into the corners. Any suggestions?

Hey everyone. Myself (25F) and my hubby (31m) have been together for 4 years now. We have a great relationship with very little issues.
My main issue is, he does not clean his anus properly. What I mean by this, when he showers, just doesn’t clean it at all. Avoids the area and just washes his butt cheeks. He is a very heavy sweater throughout the day, so the stench from his anus can get very strong very quick. I found brown on his bath towel the other day. He also has brown marks in his pants/underwear. One issue he also has is his smell is very poor along with taste. He can only taste spicy things, or very sweet things. Also he cannot smell stinky smells. He cannot smell his underarms when they stink. I have to remind him.
I’ve talked to him about it a few times and nothing changes. Sometimes he has to go and “wash” before I will give him any oral sex just because the smell is so bad, it once almost made me vomit when I went down on him (i have a strong stomach).
What do I do? The only issue in our marriage currently is I don’t give him oral as much because I am tired of asking him to wash properly, and it embarrasses him every time. He is someone with a high sex drive as well so this is starting to put strain on him.
I love my husband. He means the world to me and more. I’m just not sure how to fix this.
I also want to point out I am a very hygienic person. I have braces, I brush my teeth multiple times a day, I have a bidet on our toilet, showers every day, etc.

A lot of you have been saying how am I still attracted to him, married to him, giving him sex and oral, etc.
When I started noticing his bad hygiene it grossed me out and turned me off to the max to the point i didn’t even want to hug him. Then i mentioned it to him for the first time. He got defensive and didn’t want to talk about it anymore but he said he would wash it better. I was thrilled.
We kept having sex, but I did not give him any oral as I was still very turned off from the situation. I started noticing when he would get up from the bed, I would smell it. I mentioned it to him again and got the same response.
Then he meets with me a few weeks later saying he’s feeling very self conscious about not receiving any oral. I will say he did guilt me into giving him some and it’s basically permanently put me off from giving him any oral sex.
I stay with him because I love him. I know how it sounds and I would say that’s ridiculous and to improve my self respect if i saw someone else say it, but it’s true. I couldn’t imagine my life without him. This wasn’t an issue until about 1.5 years into our relationship. I was even hesitant on marrying him due to the issue. I convinced myself it would be fixed eventually and married him.
I am going to withhold sex and try to speak to him again about it but firmly like many of you have said. I’ll also try to post an update in a few weeks. I would love to be sexually active frequently with him again but it’s just such a turn off.

Hi. This is quite a long post so please bear with me. I could really use some help. I’m gonna put as many details as I can in here.
Background details on me: I, (24 F) live in the UK. I’m generally healthy but slightly on the overweight side (my weight has fluctuated for as long as I can remember but the switch from on your feet retail work to office work has affected my weight) Ive never had any serious health issues apart from a blood clot on my lung when I was seventeen. Despite only being 24 - I am a recovered alcoholic. Over a year. My most recent liver function test was fine. I’ve given up cigarettes for almost two years and occasionally vape as a replacement (I know it’s terrible - I am trying to stop). I do not take drugs and am over 3 years drug clean.
My family history: on my mums side three generations have had cervical cancer. On my dad’s side stomach cancer and pancreatic cancer runs rife. My dad himself has a stomach issue called colitis.
The issue: Around eight months ago I started having these ‘pain episodes’. Always at night, never a specific food triggered it. About once every two weeks. This pain was on my left side underneath my ribs and lasted around five hours a time. It was too much to sleep but I could concentrate on a TV show if I wanted too. I originally passed it off as acid reflux but as it persisted I decided to go to the doctors. They felt my tummy. Asked me some questions about my diet and further said it was acid reflux. I was reccomended a common antacid and sent on my way.
Afew more weeks pass by and this pain persists. I now notice with every time it’s getting worse. I think to myself ‘surely acid reflux does not get THIS bad’. The pain episodes start lasting for around 7 hours. Does not matter whether I’m sitting, standing, laying down. Anything. I also noticed alongside this I felt I had a lot of trapped wind or like I needed to use the toilet without the ability too.
I went back to the doctor. They were annoyed I was back again with this issue but they listened. They now decided it could be a bout of gastritis caused by H.pylori and ordered me to submit a stool sample and IF it came back positive I’d be given antibiotics but they told me to eat bland food. Not spicy and not fried in the meantime. Which I did. This test came back negative and I was not contacted about any next steps.
More time goes by. I stick to the bland foods. The pain gets worse. I begin to get a lot of swelling in my upper abdomen when it comes. These episodes begin happening every other day. The only thing that makes me feel better? Forcing myself to vomit. And trust me, I’m not proud of it. But I tried hot water bottles, cold compresses, every position possible, antacids, encorperating more movement in my everyday. What else could I do? Once I realised the vomiting made the pain go away - that’s what I would do as soon as I felt it. I needed to be able to sleep because I had work early. I couldn’t be up all night in pain.
One night. I have a specifically terrible episode and end up in A&E. this time the vomiting didn’t help and actually made it worse. I now notice a little hard lump on my upper left abdomen that is there constantly. A&E take my blood and the results come back that my liver function is ever so slightly elevated. They feel my tummy. Tell me it’s gastritis. Send me home. By that point the pain subsided and I was exhausted. I wasn’t going to fight it.
I wake up the next day and the first thing I do is get a doctors appointment. I ask for the same doctor as last time. I give her all my symptoms. She notes the fact that I’ve noticeably lost weight since the last appointment. She feels my tummy and decides to refer me for an abdominal ultrasound to check my pancreas, liver, gallbladder and stomach. She also ordered blood tests to check me for celiac disease (again negative) and my liver again (it had returned to normal)
I waited for two months to get a refferal letter. As I write this - the scan date is just shy of a month away.
During this time. The pain has increased to daily. I vomit almost daily because it makes the pain atleast bareable verses unable to talk, or breathe, horrific pain. I went to A&E twice over it, nothing was done. I went to urgent care. They prescribed me lanzoprazole 30mg (one a day before food) hyoscine butylbromide 10mg (2 tablets 4 times a day). It helps, occasionally. I also still can’t go to the toilet and when I can (maybe once a week) it’s a real struggle. The movements are light in color.
I am always pale. I am always tired. My blood pressure is lower than normal for me but still in normal ranges
Basically. Any ideas of what this is? Anyone with similar stories. Are my doctors doing enough? I’m not convinced it’s gastritis or acid reflux. I’m doing everything I can. But this is getting pretty hard to live with.

We are moving out of a house since our landlords chose to sell. We completely finished moving out the 27th of May, our lease ends the last day of May. Most of our move was early May (we had movers). We stayed at this place 15months.
SOME CONTEXT (and a vent sesh for me) (if you want to read): After about a couple months of staying in the place it was obvious the landlord were disengaged & not very willing to fix anything. Most of the fixtures in the house were always loose. Humidity ran rampant in the basement (which also flooded with every heavy ran) leading to big roaches every now and then. To their credit they got pest control to start coming every month after we kept reporting roach sightings, but did nothing about flooding basement.
WasheDryer worked but were finicky, had to upkeep a de-humidifier in the basement (drain it whenever it filled up) which was a huge PITA.
The kicker is that upon moving they promised to "parge the basement walls" by the end of March, which never happened. The basement walls are all crumbling because of all the moisture gathering down there.
There are window frames where water is coming in and very obvious water damage. Toilets were all loose, on the third floor the toilet was loose and in the summer would smell sulfery.
Outlets on second floor in one room completely stopped working, and a few months later we moved the couch and realized that one of the outlets actually blew up, scorching our urban daybed that was pressed between the outlet and a couch (in a storage until needed type sitch). We never really used the outlets in that room, and we are 100% sure we did not use the outlet that burst. Outlets on 2nd floor would always 'bzzz' when turning them on. Landlord replaced burst outlet themselves but tbh I still don't trust it.
Importantly, things would break, we would report them and unless it was something like heating it wouldn't get fixed or landlord would offer to reimburse the purchase cost of hardware to repair it, instead of repairing. Speaking of heating we literally had to remove brick dust from the 100+ year old chimney because it would clog up whatever bootleg HVAC they got working it, or else the heat would stop working.
Truth be told, there were warning signs and my SO and I just failed to see them before starting to rent, we def know better now, and are so far very happy with our new rental.
Fast forward to move out:

• we cleaned the place best we could
  
• patched any holes in the wall with DryDex/spackle
  
• made sure the backyard was as good as it could be
  
• made sure place was as it was when we received it (which was definitely not great to begin with, we did significant cleaning of stuff ourselves)
  

Landlord said that before we moved in, they had the place professionally cleaned, and the place needs to be restored back to how it was when we moved in. They said they could give us the name of the cleaners they used, and relayed what they would need cleaned with them. This was the beginning of may, they didn't explicitly say they wanted us to get these cleaners just strongly (passive aggressively) suggested it.
Fast forward to today, and they said we should get XYZ cleaning company and sent a list of YZA that should be cleaned with them. My SO called the cleaning company, and they have no record of ever stepping foot in the property.
How to tell landlord we will not pay for cleaning company from them? Or, is this something they can actually request? The lease has absolutely no mention of this.

Not long ago I posted about the infamous "pickle lady" at my old gas station job and another one came to mind. To give some history, I was 19 working night shift at a gas station right off the highway. I was alone most nights and this night was one of them. For anybody who doesn't like hearing about shit and possible sexual harrasment, this is your warning.
It's about 10pm on a dead Sunday night, at that point the only customers coming in are crackheads and the occasional annoying teenager. I'm counting cigarettes which was my final task of the night. After that I didn't have to clean anymore and just rang up whoever comes in. So on nights like these after 10pm I could straight chill and almost nobody came in so I was ready to sit back till it was time to clock.
As im counting the squares I see this guy come in. Probably 18-20 years old, long blonde hair and the stereotype "stoner burnout" fit. I didn't pay him much mind and kept doing my thing, I finished my entire count and after like 5 minutes of sitting I remember that he came in and I don't see him anywhere. No big deal, probably didn't have what he wanted right? About 10 more minutes goes by and I see him come out of the bathroom with a truly devilish smile. Looked incredibly "happy to see me" if you know what I mean too. He walked right out of the store and booked it in his car.
At first I kindof laughed and thought he was just high and being weird. After I thought about it a bit more I started to worry he might have did something in the bathroom on account of the raging hardon in his pants and the loooong stare/smile combo he gave me. Nothing could have prepared me for what laid ahead of that door for me on this dark day. Inside the sink is an entire colons worth of human shit, it was smeared on the mirror and he smashed toilet paper rolls into the toilet which caused a bunch of water to accumulate on the floor. It looked like a rabid animal with chrohns disease tore the place apart.
I did what any self respecting human would do in that situation, I cleaned it up for $9 an hour and the next week got written up when I called out sick with the stomach flu. Im a tradesmen now but all you guys holding the line working retail have my infinite respect and I'll always stand up for your labor rights as much as my own.

Been a pool owner for about 20 years. Learned the simple ways of pool maintenance long ago -- usually getting by with nothing but chlorine and acid (besides the usual opening chemicals).
We currently have an in-ground vinyl liner salt pool. I just had the liner replaced.
Decided to fill the pool from our hose since the liner was ready but I wasn't able to order a water truck in time. I typically top up the pool each summer from the hose.
From the moment we started filling, we were already noticing the water was greenish. Thought that was odd since the liner should be relatively clean. Thought maybe there was stuff inside the hose since the same hose did clear the winter water from the cover much earlier.
Filled the entire pool and it's a clear green. I wasn't worried because I've dealt with some green before and I knew that just maintaining a balance pH and some high levels of chlorine for a few days should clear things up.
It's almost a week now and I don't see the water getting much better. Water is clear but green. Top few steps on the pool don't look green, but a little more than a foot below things start looking green. My deep end is darker than my shallow but still clear. I can clearly see the main drains.
Chlorine is reading 10-12. I brought pH down to be a little closer to 7.1-7.2 since I thought lower pH is more effective in these situations. I turned off my chlorinator just to see how my chlorine levels react but the chlorine isn't dropping much at all -- which I would expect if it was truly fighting something!
Our house water isn't always the greatest. We get yellow rings in sinks and toilets that are a pain to remove. CLR and Iron-out don't seem to do anything. Usually takes a pumice stone to get rid of them.
I'm worried now that maybe there is something in my water that isn't going to be killed by chlorine or filtered out. My liner is grey with some blue flecks so I'm wondering if the water actually has a yellow tint and it's just looking green in the pool. For the first time, I'm not sure how to handle this situation. Is there something I can test for? I'm afraid to go too aggressive with the chlorine and ruin my brand-new liner which just replaced an old faded liner.
I have a cartridge filter but I haven't cracked it open yet to see what it has been catching. I planned to check to see if it's being stained yellow or green.
It's probably already going to cost me a ton to pay for the water I already put in the pool. I'm dreading the idea of partially draining, partially filling, partially draining which is the only thing I think I could do with a vinyl liner pool if I have to replace the water.
Any suggestions?

Apologies in advance for this rant/typos. My 5.5 y/o (m) was potty trained after showing signs of readiness right at 2 years old. He is going to kinder in August with 2.5 months at his preschool’s summer camp between him and a major change in school environment and home situation as my husband is deploying the week before school starts. I’m beginning to panic about the constant reminders he needs to go poop (this has been going on since he was 3 - as a toddler it was “I need to poop!” without an issue) and how much worse it will get when I’m solo and he’s adjusting to elementary school. He hasn’t gone poop at school since he was about 3, and aside from one school accident, he’s a pro at holding it in until he gets home.
When he gets home, he gets invested in playing (legos, magna-tiles, hot wheels, trains, whatever it might be) and usually begins to be in obvious physical discomfort (hunching over, sucking in his stomach while playing on all fours, other strange poop-holding-yoga-poses) and we have to remind him to GO! Sometimes he goes to the potty willingly after our prompting, sometimes we get the “I don’t feel like it.” We remind him his toys will still be there when he returns, tell him listen to his body, and he says “it isn’t saying poop, etc.” When he refuses OR my husband or I are preoccupied with our toddler, housework, unloading the car after work/achool, or literally any other task - we’ll find him with a stain in his underwear (this is where I’m beginning to get frustrated), we’ll physically have to remove him and place him on the potty. It’s never a full blown accident, just a “smear” for lack of better term 🤢 No matter how we get him there, he does go nearly every day.
I do not think he is constipated because the kid eats a ton if fruit and vegetables and a lot of water daily. His BMs look “healthy” and he doesn’t have any trouble going once sitting on the toilet. We’ve had him help clean up his underwear, done sticker charts, and even set timers, but he always seems to revert once we try to give him some autonomy back. I’m afraid he’s starting to get scared and sense my husband and I’s frustration he’s starting to give us this puppy dog face and say “it’s ok, mama/daddy! I love you!” This breaks my heart, because now I’m afraid we’re scaring him. We never use consequences or punish him, just encourage him to go and listen to his body and remind him his toys will be right where he left them etc, but I feel like he senses the stress.
We have asked preschool for reminder help, but since he is one of those kids who doesn’t poop at school. I think they just chalk him up to a non-issue. I’m worried if he needs to go at school in kindergarten with the big changes we have coming up, he will have accidents or the withholding will her worse.
For further reference he has no behavioral or developmental issues and is a pretty advanced for his age. Has zero problems in school and is genuinely a joy of a kid. He’s excellen at solo/imaginative play and I’m afraid this is our downfall, he’s so wrapped up in his own world he neglects the bathroom. I should note that going pee is not an issue!
Is this worth making an appt for the pediatrician? If you’ve been in a similar situation, where your kid needed to be reminded or physically taken to the potty to poop - what worked for you? Feeling like he’ll go to middle school at this point needing to be told to go #2 🤪

I'm a 20-year-old college student still living with my parents. I don’t pay any bills, and I only cover my food expenses sometimes. I know that’s not the case for all 20-year-olds, and I’m grateful for my parents, but I’m frustrated by the difference in how my brother and I are treated. I don’t understand why I’m expected to do more just because I’m a girl. I know I’m an adult now, but when I was my brother’s age (he’s 15), I was cleaning my own room, washing dishes, and putting away my laundry. Today, my mom asked us to help get groceries out of the car, and all he grabbed was the water. He didn’t help put away any of the groceries. The only thing he’s expected to do is take out the trash, and he rarely even does that. He doesn’t wash his dishes, leaves his hair in the bathroom sink and shower, doesn’t fold his own clothes, and I have to remind him to flush the toilet. They never yell at him to do these things, so it’s always me, and he doesn’t listen to me. They’re raising him to be a slob. Once again, I understand that I’m lucky, but it’s still frustrating to see the disparity in expectations, especially considering what was expected of me at his age. I've discussed this with them several times, but it seems to just go in one ear and out the other. I suppose I'll have to wait until I can afford to move out of this house.

I 25f share a home with my mum. I pay rent, without which my mum couldn't afford to live here, I'm saying this only because I feel it does give me some say over how the place looks.
My mum has a rescue dog, he's very sweet but also has some big time behavioural issues. He pees everywhere, thats the one that botheres me most, he pees in my room on my stuff, outside my room and all over the house.
My mums room stinks, we're talking absolutely reeks, gut wrenching public toilet. The rest of the carpet has piss stains and smells but only if you get close. I've tried my best to get the stains out but feels like a lost cause, I'm too ashamed to ever bring a friend home.
I could keep my bedroom and office doors shut but my cat likes to sit in my rooms, barring her out isn't on the cards. I'm single and can't afford to move out, when I raise this pee issue to my mum she just says "what can I do about it?" refuses to make any changes and just offers to clean my stuff. Her dog never asks to go out for a wee instead will slink off somewhere private in the house. I try to let him out but I work from home and am in meetings a lot, my mum is long term sick and at home most of the time. Shes not lazy but she really and I mean really struggles to cope with life.
She says that my complaints feel very personal and that it's obvious I don't like her dog. It's not him it's his lack of training that gets me, I'm a bit despairing because I feel the damage done to our carpet is irreparable. I've been entirely unable to get the smell out from my bed, desk and carpet and my mums room is entirely unsalvagable, even if we got new carpets the boards beneath are likely rotten and piss soaked.
Any advice please I could actually cry I'm so crushed. I have to live here for at least a few more years.

My biological mother and I were never really close. I'll even state that she never really loved me because, honestly my life would've been worse if she did. This was far from the first thing that made me want to go NC, but I was 10 and literally unable to at the time, no matter how much I begged the courts to let me stay with my dad.
I don't love much. She pretty much made it hard to love anything because if she noticed I did, she'd do her best to remove any good meaning I could've had from it. From clothes to TV shows to toys and even highly sentimental gifts from deceased family members were ripped away from me because she threw them out or took away everything I had to still view them.
And when I was 10, me and my brother got goldfish. I think they were a gift from my dad's company, but my dad had cats and was worried about them killing our fish, so after a talk with our biological mother she allowed us to take them to her house. Unfortunately, my brother's fish died early on, a mix of stress and my brother not caring about them. But mine were living, and I had even named them. But mysteriously my fish were dying, Flounder had gone first, then Seb, until Stripe was the only one left. I had cried a lot for them, and had become highly protective of Stripe. I had moved him to my room, I cleaned his tank every day, I changed his water as often as I was suggested to, I even noted down how much food he'd been eating in a day.
I had finally convinced myself that Stripe couldn't mysteriously die if I wasn't around, and I finally left him alone for a bit to play with my siblings. I thought everything would be fine, but then I heard my bio mother shout about how unclean the tank was. I was angry because I had cleaned the tank just that morning, and walked over to see my bio mother grabbing his tank. I asked her what she was doing, and she just responded "cleaning this out since you can't seem to be able to."
It had taken me a moment to figure out what she meant by that, but she had a pot of boiling water on the stove and a cup of steaming warm water on the counter. By the time I realized what she was planning, it was too late. She'd grabbed Stripe from his tank and dropped him into the cup of steaming water, and started to dump out his tank.
I was screaming, crying and doing whatever I could to stop him from dying, but between the too hot water and the sudden drop, there wasn't anything I could've done. I had held him for a long while, just silently crying while my BM was acting like it was unavoidable, I remember her telling me "it was bound to happen with how poorly you treated him."
She finally got fed up with my lack of responses and flushed him down the toilet. I hated her for it. I hated her so much. It was 100% avoidable, and I eventually learned she'd been the one killing my fish the entire time. But the entire time she acted like I was in the wrong, like it was my fault I felt that way. My dad didn't understand, and nobody else cared about a fish. Some even offered replacement fish, which I'd turned down.
I'll also admit that I had been suicidal for a while - I had tried to kill myself by drowning on purpose when I was 9, and this had been one of the last straws I could've handled. I wrote a note, one specifically for my BM, I don't remember what I'd written, but I do remember that single phrase she loved to repeat about Stripe. "It was bound to happen with how poorly you treated him." I can't recall how many times I'd written it down, I can't even mention how many notes I'd written, or which one I eventually put on the bathroom sink, where I'd intended to die at 11.
I didn't die, but only because I didn't want my siblings to be the ones to find my body. I had no clue what to do, just knowing I didn't want to die where they could see. I handed the note to my older sister and just started walking. My Uncle had eventually found me and dragged me back home, but I had just been so numb.
I eventually found out that she kept the notes, yeah all of the notes. Years later, she asked me about them and the repeating phrase, demanding an answer that would make her look better in front of her friends. She hadn't expected me to respond the same way I always would. "After you killed my pet and told me it was just bound to happen with "how poorly I'd treated him" it stuck with me just how poorly you treated me."
