I've never had a good opportunity to sit down and do a run through TTWL. I'd played a couple hours in the past, but never really made it the game I was going to play. Well, I've now spent about two weeks playing it in my spare time. I'm at or just after the Wastard boss fight, which is pretty close to the end of the main story. I've been doing some side quests, but I've wanted to unlock gear slots so I've been sticking to the main quest.
Overall, I am having fun. The good:

1. The game is fun. The enemies are fun to fight. Flying enemies are a bit annoying, but they're kept pretty rare. I like how chaotic combat feels.
2. I like that they made melee combat repeat by holding the button down. You don't have to mash that button anymore. 100% that should always be there going forward.
3. I like the idea of armor, rings, amulets, and melee weapons being drops. That's cool. I kinda wish armor actually gave you armor, though.
4. The story is fine. I appreciate the TTRPG jokes.
5. Setting is cool. A fantasy world that feels true to TTRPG settings and as goofy as Borderlands likes to be.
6. Voice acting is great. Villain is great. Tina is great. Other players are... whatever. I like Wanda Sykes even if her character is meh.
7. Enemy variety is good. Talking skeletons are hilarious. Goblin "tricksters" in barrels are fun even if their ram attack has too much knockback.

However, I've got some criticisms. I'm wondering if I'm the only one to notice these. Most of these are small, but... there's so many little things that together I think TTWL is easily my least favorite game. It's like a death of 1,000 cuts. No huge glaring issues. Just things that tell you they didn't put as much care into Wonderlands. The game is undercooked. The bad:

1. There aren't really mechanics around melee combat. You just hold down melee, and then try to keep the enemy on screen. There are talents that make you better and the weapons often feel satisfying, but overall melee doesn't feel very deep for how important it seems to be.
2. Melee interrupting and resetting reload animations feels awful. Reload animations feel relatively long in WL, and if you miss the timing a little bit because some mob is eating your face that you want to finish off, you have to start the whole thing over. I really, really hate it.
3. The classes are kinda underwhelming. They remind me of BL1 classes more than anything. The ability trees are kinda dull; mostly static mods that don't do a whole lot plus a few kill skills. The action skills just feel like unique spells unless it's a pet, but the number of spells waters them down a lot. Having two classes is a great idea, but... it's not transformative gameplay like the BL3 classes were. Ability scores in particular feel lazy.
4. The way encounters work in instances really sucks. Instead of organically approaching an area, you're dumped into a combat arena. There aren't enough maps, either, or they get reused way too much. Instead of knowing where the enemies are and where safety is, they teleport in around you so you're constantly surrounded. Surrounded by melee enemies that will happily mob you and pin you in a corner. That might be realistic, but it's sure as shit ain't fun in an FPS. It's a good thing that snipers seem mostly terrible because there's so many encounters where they won't do anything. Need to run away and reload? The game will helpfully teleport enemies in front of you! And god help you if you die during the third stage of one of these instanced dungeons because you get to do all three of those fights again!
5. OK, it's a little thing, but when you complete an overworld shrine they don't activate on their own. You have to go back and activate them. Why? Why isn't finding all 4 parts good enough? And why are the bonuses so boring? Faster walking on the overworld? 10% more XP? These... suck. They feel like, "We nerfed you from baseline so we could find rewards to give back to you!"
6. The overworld likes to steal or lock your camera controls in certain areas. No. Bad. Stop that.
7. Map navigation on PC is fucked, too. You have to drag the reticle on the map to select things. The mouse just isn't used as a pointing device. Oh, but if you accidentally have the mouse where the list of travel locations are going to be on the UI when you open the map, well, then the map will automatically refocus to that spot instead of where you are. Want to refocus on yourself? Too bad. The easiest way to do that is to move the mouse to the right side of the screen then close and re-open the map.
8. The enemies feel... bizarrely bullet spongey. Worse, quite a lot of them just charge at you and melee. Even with an FOV of 105+, it's obnoxious simply because it's hard to see what is going on. I want the option of switching to third person camera.
9. So many enemies randomly have immunity shields, too, where you have to wait until you can attack them. That's maybe fine for an area boss, especially when they flood the boss arena with adds or do a phase change, but it's bullshit that a mook pirate with a ship's wheel as a "shield" just takes no damage or that the miniboss has a 15s immunity shield on a 20s cooldown. It's not overpowered. It's boring. I'm reminded of EgoRaptor's Ocarina of Time video: "There is so much goddamn waiting"
10. There's a lot of enemies that explode randomly when they die or have damage zones that persist after they die (sometimes from your own elemental weapons!). This has the knock-on effect of sometimes you win a combat, but then the last enemy explodes or drops a poison pool and that knocks you out. It feels very cheap and bullshitty in solo play whenever BL knocks you out after all the enemies die, and WL seems uniquely good at doing that to reset your progress by denying a Death Save.
11. The character creator doesn't really work. You get 5,000 sliders for the head and face, but they don't seem to do a whole lot. More oddly, there are only two body types, and they're kind of fixed based on class. You're a stabbomancer. Want your character to be a waifish girl assassin? Well, too bad. That's not possible. You either look like a kind of buff male wrestler or a kind of buff female wrestler. It feels like it misses the point entirely.
12. So many guns have slow projectile speeds or arcing projectiles that the gunplay really suffers. Certain weapons (magic blast shotguns and explosive lobbers) feel like they don't do the damage they're rated for, and the range of impact on the target is both extreme and too varied. Some weapons just have no effect at all. Others have huge knockback... but only sometimes. Both of these feel like they harm the quality of gunplay.
13. The loot feels like it sucks. It's too time consuming to go through it all, especially with the stupid inventory still being the same as it was in BL2. Like the rings and amulets don't feel like they do a lot unless you get a god drop, so it's hard to compare them.
14. The non-weapon class modifiers feel lazy and nebulous. "+10% Stabbomancer power." OK, great. I'm a stabbomancer. 10% of what now? Just my active skill? Every skill or talent? And the Epics have two classes chosen at random. So there's about a 1 in 20 chance that the game will drop loot with mods for both my actual classes, and about a 50% chance that it will have neither of them. Most non-weapon drop drops are automatically trash loot for you. But you had best pick it all up to sell, because....
15. Why are the SDUs so goddamn expensive? In fact, why is everything so goddamn expensive? If you want to buy something from the vending machine it's going to be 50% or more of your funds. I remember saving up to be able to afford maybe one thing from the vending machine in the future. That's steady throughout the whole game for me. SDUs are just a further drain.
16. Dark element seems too good. Like I just always keep a dark element weapon on me now because it's basically the only active way to heal. You can either find potions on the ground (why can't I carry them?) or use a vending machine to heal (which I don't think I've done since BL1) or explode a healing barrel or I can use a dark weapon. That's it. Oh, I suppose you might get a drop with 0.5% heal per second on it, but whatever. I get that lightning is good vs ward, poison is good vs armor, fire is good vs flesh, and ice is good vs bone. But dark is the only way to extend survivability, really. Mainly because running away is often impossible (instanced encounters).
17. The default keyboard layout is total garbage now, and I think it's because melee is important. WASD. E use. R reload. 1-4 weapons. Space is jump. F spell and G skill (or vice versa). H another skill sometimes. LCtrl slide and crouch and slam. Q is tag (I think?). C weapon mode. V is melee? Really? Why is such an important key there? It doesn't feel like they actually planned any of this out. I know it's the exact same layout as BL3, but the gameplay is much different. It's really annoying in ways I didn't expect. Why does it feel like there was just no thought put into how making melee important might prompt changes to the key layout? It just feels like every character is as input heavy as BL3's Zane, and it's because they didn't really think about anything.
18. This has been a constant issue for me since Borderlands 2 (in BL1 it felt appropriate). Since they keep making this thoughtless design mistake I'm going to keep bringing it up. Why do they keep starting you off with only 2 weapon slots? Why does gear drop that I can't even equip? Why are gear slots locked at all if you can just level-gate drops from some categories? It's a looter shooter focused on switching weapons and gear frequently! Let me use the loot that drops and let me use more weapons! This is a shitty progression mechanic, and it feels even worse here. I think I found my first ring 4-5 levels before I could actually equip it. I'd found two epic rings before I could even equip one.

I'm not going to give up on the game because in spite of all that it is often fun. But I think this is the worst BL game. Which is a shame because Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep is probably the top tier for Borderlands, IMO.

Hi there, Our small 10 year old Lhasa vomited the other morning and as she’s diabetic we took her for a checkup at the vets.
Betty walked into the veterinary surgery fine and was alert and happy.
She was injected with Cerenia for the sickness. My Husband got to reception to pay and she collapsed on the floor and couldn’t get up. The vet was called back out and said she’d be fine - just take her home.
She wasn’t fine. She could barely walk a few steps and was wobbly on her back legs. The same day, we drove her 2 hours away to a specialist veterinary centre for testing as they thought it was related to her diabetes.
She was admitted there for 2 days and according to her chart she was administered two more doses of Cerenia over the two days she was there even though she had no further sickness. The only thing they found was that her insulin dose needed slightly increasing and there is no apparent reason for her not being able to walk properly. We were told to use a Doggy push chair to walk her.
She’s now back home and as I was looking at her discharge medication she has Cerenia pills to take. After reading up on it, it seems many dogs lose control of their back legs after being given Cerenia.
I am convinced that this is what caused her immediate immobility at the vets. I’m literally having chest pains from the stress and anger that they continued to administer this horrible drug after her initial reaction and despite her not vomiting again. The pills are going in the trash.
I’m wondering if anyone else’s dog has had this reaction to Cerenia and whether they ever recovered the ability to walk properly again?

Hello there. Recently went to a new doctor who discovered I have a nonanemic B12 and Vit D deficiency. I'm so overwhelmed by all the info about cofactors and "Wake up Symptoms" and watching for deficiencies in other areas...its a lot. (I didn't even know how to flare my post because I don't know what I'm looking for here lol)
Allow me to just brain dump for a moment and if anyone can offer any guidance, I appreciate it.
Here are the relevant lab numbers for reference:

• Vitamin D - 15.8 NG/mL
• B12 - 124pg/mL
• Folate - 19.4 NG/mL (within normal range)
• I also noticed in the report that my MCH and MCHC are both on the cusp of being in the deficient range (which I guess could indicate anemia) but still considered normal.

Current treatment plan: All my doctor suggested was weekly b12 shots (1000 cyanocobalamin) for three weeks, then monthly for 3 months. Then retesting to see if my levels are holding up. If so, she said I should then take a supplement for maintenance.
I know everyone is different, but is that aggressive enough or a long enough duration? She also didn't say anything about supplementing folate, which I see here is recommended. My levels were on the high end of normal though, so maybe she accounted for that?
I'm also supplementing 50,000 units of Vitamin D once a week for four weeks, then a lower amount ongoing for maintenance. I did notice a big improvement within a day of my first big dose.
I ordered the Thorne 2/day as recommended in the guide. I figure a multivitamin can't hurt.
QUESTION: Should I add in folate supp too? Should I supplement with B12 now while doing injections?
A bit of my background: I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia at 19 years old (I'm 34 now) and at 25 finally got a ADHD diagnosis. I know B12 deficiency can cause symptoms that resemble both of these but I do believe the ADHD diagnosis is correct because the symptoms have been apparent my entire life.
Fibromyalgia is a diagnosis I'm not totally sure of. I started having symptoms after I got Mono at 15. But over the years I've wondered if its not actually something else (possibly hypermobility b/c that's comorbid with ADHD). All that to say, I don't think I've always had a B12 deficiency so I don't think that's the cause of these issues.
Here are the ongoing symptoms I've experienced for almost 20 years now that could be Fibro or low B12 (or both):

• brain fog
• fatigue
• weakness
• sleep disturbance
• IBS/gut troubles
• headaches

I have noticed they were maybe worse over the last few years, but I attributed it to a flare up of my chronic conditions or other factors like seasonal allergies, poor sleep, stress, getting covid, etc. I honestly didn't take much note of it because it was just so normal to me.
I also take a 10-20mgs stimulant for ADHD which may have masked some of the increasing fatigue and weakness. I noticed in the last year or so that when I don't take the stimulant, I am DEAD tired. Like, could fall asleep at the drop of a hat and almost every movement is a challenge. I was actually worried that I was becoming addicted to the stimulant because without it I felt so fatigued without it but now I wonder if it's actually the low B12. I'll have to keep an eye on that.
Moving forward: After reading through the Guide, I understand that cessation of symptoms is a better indicator of recovery than lab numbers, but how will I really know things are working if these symptoms do not actually ever fully go away? Am I just looking for a lessening? And if my symptoms do clear up entirely, do I actually not have Fibromyalgia?? I actually don't even know what's normal way to feel anymore so I have no frame of reference lol.
QUESTION: What are "Wake up" symptoms? I see that referenced here but I can't find a definitive definition.
My head is spinning. LOL.

Abstract
Importance Spinal cord stimulators (SCSs) are increasingly used for the
treatment of chronic pain. There is a need for studies with long-term follow-up.
Objective
To determine the comparative effectiveness and costs of SCSs compared with
conventional medical management (CMM) in a large cohort of patients with
chronic pain.
Design, Setting, and Participants
This was a 1:5 propensity-matched retrospective comparative effectiveness
research analysis of insured individuals from April 1, 2016, to August 31, 2018.
This study used administrative claims data, including longitudinal medical and
pharmacy claims, from US commercial and Medicare Advantage enrollees 18 years
or older in Optum Labs Data Warehouse. Patients with incident diagnosis codes
for failed back surgery syndrome, complex regional pain syndrome, chronic pain
syndrome, and other chronic postsurgical back and extremity pain were included
in this study. Data were analyzed from February 1, 2021, to August 31, 2022.

SCSs or CMM.
Main Outcomes and Measures
Surrogate measures for primary chronic pain treatment modalities, including
pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic pain interventions (epidural and facet
corticosteroid injections, radiofrequency ablation, and spine surgery), as
well as total costs.
Results
In the propensity-matched population of 7560 patients, mean (SD) age was 63.5
(12.5) years, 3080 (40.7%) were male, and 4480 (59.3%) were female. Among
matched patients, during the first 12 months, patients treated with SCSs had
higher odds of chronic opioid use (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 1.14; 95% CI,
1.01-1.29) compared with patients treated with CMM but lower odds of epidural
and facet corticosteroid injections (aOR, 0.44; 95% CI, 0.39-0.51),
radiofrequency ablation (aOR, 0.57; 95% CI, 0.44-0.72), and spine surgery
(aOR, 0.72; 95% CI, 0.61-0.85). During months 13 to 24, there was no
significant difference in chronic opioid use (aOR, 1.06; 95% CI, 0.94-1.20),
epidural and facet corticosteroid injections (aOR, 1.00; 95% CI, 0.87-1.14),
radiofrequency ablation (aOR, 0.84; 95% CI, 0.66-1.09), or spine surgery
(aOR, 0.91; 95% CI, 0.75-1.09) with SCS use compared with CMM. Overall, 226 of
1260 patients (17.9%) treated with SCS experienced SCS-related complications
within 2 years, and 279 of 1260 patients (22.1%) had device revisions and/or
removals, which were not always for complications. Total costs of care in the
first year were $39 000 higher with SCS than CMM and similar between SCS and
CMM in the second year.
Conclusions and Relevance In this large, real-world, comparative effectiveness
research study comparing SCS and CMM for chronic pain, SCS placement was not
associated with a reduction in opioid use or nonpharmacologic pain interventions
at 2 years. SCS was associated with higher costs, and SCS-related complications
were common.

Hello, dear Turn-Based Video Games and XCOM series lovers! I'm from Russia , and I want tell you something. Sorry for my English. Last month in order to diversify the experience a little - I goes to playthrough the old versions of XCOM for the first time finish to the End. I mean EU and LW 1.0. You can’t even imagine how much LWR is 100 times better than XCOM: EU and LW! Enemy Within is a pretty good game, but for 1-2 playthrough (I now finish both , EU and EW), absolutely unbalanced for modern times, although exciting at first. Just like the Long War mod, which I will definitely never return to. LWR is not just better than him, but an order of magnitude better. I advise everyone who criticizes LWR to come back and play LW again. Although it is interesting at the beginning, but then endless crawls begin across large maps on Overwatch. It is absolutely uninformative, drawn out, boring, illogical. When I returned to LWR again (after played 10 days in EU and 10 days in LW), I realized how cool it is! Simply perfect game.
I don't even know what else I can add. I also like the difficulty curve that LWR still has, although how to play, if you play perfectly on Easy, then by the fall it will also be boring. I'm 52 years old and playing video games from 1980. I love the turn-based strategy genre the most. But I’ve been playing everything for almost 45 years. (my top hours games for 45 years is World of Tanks, Warlords 1-2, Panzer General 1-3, Ancient Art of War 1984, Civilization 1-6, Counter Strike 1.6, Elder Scrolls V..) Of course, I played Laser Squad and UFO: Enemy Unknown 1994. Which captivated me so much that I spent 60 hours straight on it (minus 8 hours of sleep) until I completed it. But now I'm a fan of Long War Rebalance mod. I spent about 60 hours on the Laser Squad, about 200 hours on the UFO EU 1994, about 100 hours on the XCOM EU+EW. 200 hours for Long War mod and about 1200 hours for LWR mod. But I will be playing LWR for a very long time, I think this is ideal game. I also spent about 60 hours playing XCOM 2 and some hours at LWOTC. I will never return to vanilla EW or Long War 1.0, but I intend to complete XCOM 2 to the end. Original and WOTC and LWOTC also. Because I like it.

tl;dr: I'm providing & running sound for an important community event in 10 days. ~100 people. I tested my old PA today and discovered it's absurdly bad. Did a quick search & it looks like local day rentals for PA's run $100-400. I'd like to know if it's feasible to find a small PA worth having for events like this in that price range, & also seeking any advice on renting/buying a small PA. I'm in Phoenix/The Valley, AZ

I got myself in a jam.
I was asked by a local nonprofit to run & provide sound for a small (~100 people) outdoor community speaking engagement. Very simple, 1 mic and 1 line device for a house music playlist. I did A/V stuff way back & I have an old cheap PA (Phonic Powerpod 410 & 2 S710's), so this felt like something I could confidently handle. I've also wanted to be a local budget sound guy for stuff like this for a while, so it's a great first shot.
Due to this group expecting lots of "volunteer" work, I asked up front if they could pay. They asked my rate. Being petty for reasons I won't get into, I threw out a steep rate (for my level of expertise), expecting to get negotiated down/ignored. They accepted it.
Woo, now it's a paid gig. It's also a very emotionally significant event for the community. I'm taking it seriously and feeling some pressure.
Fast forward to now. We met a few days ago so I could get logistics, review the space, ask questions, etc. Due diligence, I got to testing my PA today, aaand... it sucks. It's comically bad. Constant noise if I put the main out on the PA to 50%, even if all the channels are all the way down. More noise when I turn up channels, even with no signal. Tried uninstalling the "built-in 35mm adapter" in one speaker to see the housing without it & now what I'm guessing are nuts are rolling around inside the cab. Noise mattered way less when fucking around on e-drums with my friends, but very much matters for this event.
Considering I have 10 days now, I figure it's better to rent a PA for the event. A very brief survey of local options says that'll run me $100-$400, depending on the place. (On the higher end of that, I'm paying to do the gig.) Seeing those numbers, I'm wondering: Am I better off buying a used PA in that price range to cover an event of this size? It would be nice to buy since I want to do this again. I'm in Phoenix/The Valley, AZ, if that matters.
Also, any general advice/tips on sourcing & renting PA's is welcome and much appreciated.
