2024.05.16 10:58 Sprue_poo2 Deposit question (IN, USA)

First time poster here so apologies for any issues.
Last year my wife and I decided to separate and are still amicable. We rent a 2 bedroom apartment and we have 1 child. With the price of rent skyrocketing around us, it was decided that moving me out sooner rather than later would be more beneficial than waiting until the lease was up. There was an open apartment directly downstairs (too close for comfort) and another just a block away, perfect. Specified which unit, and went ahead. I paid the application fee and was approved, then put a $300 deposit for the unit in the vicinity (same company property) for the specific unit. I received an email stating that the fee was to hold that apartment, and stating the move in date. Leasing office wanted a few follow up questions about income for us both a few days later, and didn’t hear from my wife for a week…I eventually spoke with them to offer the documentation they needed but they said they hadn’t heard anything for a week, so they leased the apartment to someone else. I would like to know what my recourse is, if any. They stated that the new applicants already signed the lease and put in their holding fee and first and last months rent (which they never asked me for) and that their hands are tied. I pleaded my case, asking why they couldn’t let the deal “fall through” like they did with me and let me pay the first and last rent, like for the second prospective tenants but allow me since I’d already put the hold in. I’d already started to make plans for the prospective move in date so I’m in a pickle, am I screwed? They did offer the unit directly downstairs, but the point of the deposit was for holding the one requested right?
Thanks for any input everyone

2024.05.16 10:56 AdEarly8368 My cat starts chewing when I lightly press my thumb to his mouth.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask and I hope I explain clearly. I recently noticed that when I lightly press my finger next to my cat's mouth, he begins to "chew". He doesn't bite my finger or put it in his mouth, but just moves his mouth as if he's chewing something. I've had a cat before, but he didn't do that. Should I be worried? He doesn't seem to be uncomfortable with it and even seems to enjoy it

2024.05.16 10:53 Prestigious-Wind-200 Watch your PTO

I wanted to bring something to everyone’s attention that happened to me once.
As for companies that give paid time off (PTO), make sure to go back in your schedules and know the days you’ve taken off.
The business I worked at kept each employees schedule on their account to go in and schedule which days they want off and their supervisor would approve it and then HR and send your notification in an email. At this company an employee would also have an option to give hours to fellow employees if they needed it for whatever reason.
I always printed my schedule from this list to know what days I had off for vacation or sick days and to plan future time off.
The HR manager one week had asked if anyone would be willing to give one of the sales team members some hours they need off and they used all their hours already. I guess no one gave any up. The same week I went in to plan my vacation and I noticed that what was showing on the computer wasn’t what I had on physical file in my hand. Someone went back to the beginning of the year and put that I had a few days off and in fact I was paid for those said days. The only person I found that could do that was the HR.
I was beyond angry. Not only because I was short days off but because it looked like I was paid for days off which could look like a fireable offense.
I figured the scheme was to borrow those days from a few people and when the person was paid then readjust the hours back and no harm no foul. I stormed into the HRs office and presented my evidence and told her she could screw over everyone else but she needed to put my time back as it was. And she did very promptly. She stammered around like she didn’t know how that happened but I told her I knew she was the only one who had the access to do that. Apparently she got how to do it from another store but it didn’t work the same way. She put everyone’s back and told the salesman he was just out of luck for hours. She quit a few weeks later.
All I’m saying is keep up with that stuff as best you can do you don’t get screwed out of PTO.

2024.05.16 10:51 chocolatecutout Do you wear pants or skirts to work?

If you have an office job, which do you prefer? I only ever wear pants personally but I used to mix it up.
I’m thinking of buying a couple of skirts but none of my coworkers wear them and I’ve suddenly noticed that skirts are just not really worn as often as they used to be for workwear these days.

2024.05.16 10:50 mindoverego_ How to correctly hand in notice

This is my first time leaving an office job. Do I speak to my manager face to face and then put it in an email? Or do I just email my manager after working hours then wait for him to ask for a meeting?
Is there anything I should do before I hand in my notice?
I work for a company that gives “unlimited time off”, would it be wrong for me ask to take my notice period as paid leave?

2024.05.16 10:50 arshy__ Company want everyone back in office 3x a week

Hi All, I currently live in Bham, and during covid era had the opportunity of the hybrid roles, I got myself a role in London in which I was expected to come into the office 2x a week. It was a good move for me career wise as well as pay wise. I've been happy to do that for the last 2 years, however last week we got an email from the CEO he expects everyone to be in the office now 3x a week from July. I have yet to speak to my manager about this, but based on previous conversations it seems he will want to follow the CEO's words. I am looking for jobs elsewhere, but would it be a good reason to tell him that? Or would it be a good idea perhaps to tell him I am looking elsewhere and give me 6 months or so and I will find another job if they are adamant on 3x a week.
The reason I can't do 3x is due to family and cost wise. I also would get really tired from the travelling and my weeks would just become really long.

2024.05.16 10:48 DT-Sodium JavaScript application not indexed because of access restrictions on it's API

Hello,
I developed an online shop with an Angular front-office and a PHP API. I noticed that the shop's pages are not indexed properly, showing our server error popup instead of the correct content and using Google Search Console to inspect urls, the problems seems to be that Google crawlers are denies access to the API.
My API has indeed a disallow all in it's robots.txt because i don't want my API to show up in search engine results, but i still want crawlers to be able to query it so they can display the front-end properly. How can i achieve that?

Why is my aloe drooping
I replanted my aloe around 3-4 months ago and around 4 weeks ago I noticed that the leaves have started drooping, but it's still growing new leaves quite quickly What could be causing this? I don't think I've overwatered it, usually 1x month. I did move it from the window that gets evening sun to a window that mainly faces north

2024.05.16 10:43 princessbride86 Most likely an uncommon, maybe not Asked in here before kind of question.

Having a conversation with something,
And one thing is crazy people who are New to being rich, New money, cant handle it or know what to do yet, just love spending money and showing of too much, or just have more money than brains,
And some things I have come over that those people might throw some money on to get.
And that is a bottle of champagne, where the bottle has 3000 diamonds set in gold prongs all over the bottle,
a gold lable with the letters in the name that has a dot over it, has a swarovski crystal applied by hand,
how the hell did they get the small delicate prongs, and the diamonds on then? Is there a machine that can do that?
And why is he bosting and making so much hubbubb like 2-4 small manmade glass "crystals", almost more than the diamonds that there are like 3000 of and not labgrown?
The people who has tasted the champagne inside,
which the maker was talking up as one of the best ever, like he had filled the bottle with some vintage, extra good year, of some Dom or something,
the people tastings's verdict of "the best champagne ever " , didn't taste the greatest,
is that Nice wineexpert talk for: shittiest champagne I ever tasted? 🤣
And what kind of cash you would have to own this bottle?
Just the small sum of 2,75 millon USD.
Then the guy has a vodka in the same line,
With the same 3000 diamonds set in gold prongs, gold lable with swarovski, and fancy kork as the champagne.
But since the dude making this is russian, making some good russian vodka,
he had to get a little oligark walking outside as it's 20 degrees celsius or more, and gave it a little furcoat with a hood,
foefur by all means, the maker is also a member of PETA..
he says he has made the best russian vodka with all the best ingredients, like crystal clear springwater,
and what gives the little extra, making it the very best russian vodka EVER,
is that , in one of the steps of his top secret filtration system, the vodka runs over even more diamonds!
Normal people from russia, who knows vodka,
and not being pretensious or trying to seem like they have refined, expensive tastes,
and trying to impess other rich people in the room,
just saying it like it is, saying what they realy feel.
Said it was ok, drinkable ,
tiered the same as the cheepest, worst, russian vodka I have ever had,
and what I could afford of vodka when I was young and started Drinking for real, was 0,5 liter bottle of Kalinka,
bottom tier stuff,
but it got me unconsious every time, so it did what it was supposed to I guess,
why I would ever start my drinking with Downing half a liter vodka, with less and less OJ for every drink as a mixer, I willi never know,
these days the hardest liqour i touch is some rum when I want some strawberry daquirys, guess I learned my lesson,
But the vodka they compared this "best vodka in the world, filtered through real diamonds " to was even worse than the kalinka,
but that is my personal opinion,
the vodka they compared to, was Jeltsin, dont know if anyone here has tried that one..
And the price of this wonder of the world, it's even worse than the champagne, because it's 3,75 million USD!
And if you have some spare change after dropping a cool 6,5 mill on a bottom tier champagne, and a bottom tier vodka in some iced out bottles,
Feel like you smell a little musty from the pre gaming, and want to smell like a rich duche when hitting the club?
Don't worry, for in the same line as the bad rich duche alcohol you dropper more money on than some make an entire lifetime,
There is also a perfume in the same obnoctious iced out bottle,
with a little foefur coat on,
and it comes in a wooden boxs with Black castiron hinges,
smells like au de rich duche,
and could be yours, having you smelling duchy in no time ,
the very attractive and sexy, but very golddigging,
women with botox and fillers and other plastic in all the right places,
5kg makeup, but very nicely done,
half her head is fake hair, the color isn't hers,
but with all the fake, she does fake the way that looks real , and hot,
looking like a perfect trophy girlfriend, could turn perfect trophy wife, or a Nice younger, hotter, trophy second wife,
if you wear our perfume, they can smell you from a mile away, and come running,
not to make the first move, but standing in some seductive, flirty pose, hot girls can do,
girls like me didn't even get invited to watch the video on how to do it, it was on the invite only, hot girls exclusive youtube Chanel 😪😅
And to make this happen, what you need to do is easy, just drop another 2,25 millon USD, and it's yours.
And the next thing that's coming in the line?
Coffee!!
There was no info yet , so I dont know how they are going to ice out the tin,
but do you agree with my guess,
that it's either the real deal of that Coffee that is the most rare and expensive in the world,
Kopi Luvak or something.
that is made by the civet, that I thought was in the feline family,
but it's actually a carnivorous mammal,
so our cat looking very very very distant cousin,
but by marriage,
so just a stepcousin, but still in the family 😅
And the civet eats the fruit the Coffee beans are inside?
Just the pods with beans?
Don't know,
But some, a little disgusting people, goes around picking through every civet poop they can find,
pick out the partialy digested beans that didn't turn to poop,
hopefully washes them very well,
roast them,
and boom worlds most expensive Coffee,
which is just poop Coffee!
Or did he just pick up some typicly russian Coffee at the supermarked,
Made a fancy iced out tin to put it in,
and if we look at the price of the other things,
Is going to slap a price like between 1,25 and 2 millon USD on it? 🤣
The reason for this very long post, it does have a point and it has to do with wine , you have now heard this insane things about champagne, vodka, perfume and Coffee.
But I tried using the Google machine myself, but the Google machine is a lot of the time not my friend, and I didn't find an answer..
Are there, or has there been anything like that with wine , red or white, rose or sparkling, any wine?
That the wine is ok or so , not the best, but has an insane bottle and other packaging if there are any, and has an insane price?
Doesn't have to like the BS i found, that the price is in the millions,
but something crazy only rich people could or would drop on a bottle of wine,
not from a top winyard,
from a good or better year,
a rare bottle of one of the best ever vintages of that wine,
or something else spectacular,
so if an event big enough to open such a special bottle doesn't happen,
it's gone up in value if you sell it years later,
or could make a valuble and Nice piece to make a family heirloom,
especialy if you have a kid or grandkid that turns out to just a big a winenut as you..
just a big ass amount of money,
on a meh bottle of wine,
for the cool, or bling bottle?
Anyone know of?
If you know stuff about the same, around other types of alcohol, like tequila, cognac, or anything, i would love to hear them all.
Sorry for the very long post,
and Sorry if I made grammatical mistakes in anyway in the text,
english isn't my first language,
and I have insomnia,
and im well into my third 24 hour a day awake,
so I passed 50 hours a while ago,
so not on my A game, for sure.
And the reason for the text being 549 miles long?
I'm sorry, but you had the misfortune of stumbling on to, and becoming a victim to one of my adhd hangup posts,
They tend to become way to long, i haven't learned any ways to stop myself yet , new to the whole diagnose thing,
I have been struggling with it since like the end of kindergarten ,beginning of school, without knowing what it was.
And when I was to old for non stop hyper all waking second of the day,
I was so scared of being weird and fit in even less than I did, and scared to do something at home, so they would start thinking i was weird and not like me either..
So I hid it as best i could, i took everything that came with that and pushed it as far down and hid it as i just could managed , had some small outlets when I was alone at home, and the times i cracked at home, it was either against my Brothers, and because of lack of selfregulation, it was either exploding with anger, crying hystericly, screaming as loud and as long my lungs and voice would let me from irritation or frustration, or having the same extremes with positive feelings, they most likely thought i was a normal part bipolar, part psychopath, part spoilt rotten daddys little Princess who gets everything she wants, never gets in trouble, and can get us in trouble with just one cry or one word, and part sweet, happy , Nice littlesister, you know the kind of babysister every big Brother, most of the time, have? And it's normal for a kid to be a hyper sometimes, but I had a childhood being scared to be me, tummyaches all the time for the stress and work, physical and mental symptoms getting slowly worse with time, and buhu, i had it so bad, millon kids had it a millon times worse, but it still wasn't plesant and 10/10 would not recomend! It's been about 20 years since I had the lightbulb moment what might be going on with me, had no idea how to move forward, thought it cost a lot of money to get it checked out, didn't have any money, now, at the end of my 30's i get it, so not learned how to stopp the long rants, but it get here some day, maybe when I get on the medication, start testing soon, which I look very much forward too. The moment i went from wondering if I had it, to knowing without knowing, if you get it, was one night after way to much alcohol, and a supersurge in inpulsivity, have it all the time, but it usually just make me online shop to much or buy something unhealty stuff to eat , and waaay to much of it, I want chips, candy, chocolate, some cookies or baked goods, and some full fat soda, and eat everything today? Sure go ahead, no worries,
But that night i did that one illegal thing, that if someone with adhd do it, their reaction to it is almost polar oposite of normal people?
It was the best few hours of my life, I hade peace and quiet , and a lot of the unvolentairy movements took a little break for the first time that I could remember,
It was the best thing I ever did, and that scared the shit out of me, and I kept away after,
that peace and quiet could had me addicted if I got to have it one to many times,
could most done a few times before stopping, but it was better to be safe than sorry,
and I have not felt peace since, that is what 18 years ago,
so even if I know the medication wont be the same, anything resembling something less than now will be 1 millon times better..
So now dont just a 500 mile long post, but a bonus 450 mile long explenation about the 500 mile post, so if you actually took the time to read it all:
Congratulation on getting to the very end of the 950 mile long post, i hope it wasn't all the worst time Reading, but I give many thanks for the time and effort you took , and I bid you a good day ❤️
(And if I just spent over 2 hours writing this, and run into the same as i did last time, and cant get it to post ,
i will be very angry, maybe even make an angry sound out loud.
Well, here we go, cross my fingers, cross my heart, and hope for the best, hopefully i will see you on the other side,
and I need a very long youtube short break, that is what I use to be stimulated non stop, but they are short and switch all the time,
so I don't have to keep my fokus , attention and keep track of everything and remembering things like with movies and shows,
and they don't make me overstimulated,
the sound keeps my volume att 11 kaos more easy to handle,
once every leapyear i even get so into things on the shorts,
i ignore my kaos a little, just some minutes like around 5 or so at the most, but its Nice,
that is where I'm headed, and I'm not coming out for hours.
Have a Nice day my friend,
peace, love, knowledge, understanding, friendship,
and everything else positive that your heart might be longing for in the evil times, and violent world we are living at the moment,
for you and all your loved ones❤️
Remember that even if evil screams the loudest, takes more room, is more in your face, visible and easy to notice.
Good is wispering it's warm, calm, and comforting message of everything good, from the shadow of evil,
But even from the shadow, the warm, loving , and welcoming little light from the good will always be shining in the darkness under evil, guiding you, showing you the way home,
And you can always find it if you look for it ❤️

2024.05.16 10:40 Professional_Fix_147 Worried my family and I will be homeless…

My lease on my current place ends in July. I asked my current landlord over a month ago if myself and my kids (single mom and two teens), can sign another 1 year lease. We have kept his place immaculate and he has seen it several times over the past year. My rent is always paid on time and bills are up to date. His response to signing was that he needed to check what the current market value is and he will get back to me. I’m my area it has gone up $300-$500 per month. I still haven’t heard back from him. I need to either give a month notice or re-sign with him for June 1st so I am running out of time. I have looked at current prices around Edmonton for a 3 bedroom place and the majority are $2000 and up. The max I can afford is $1900 and that’s at the top of my budget. It means I’m working over full time. Both my kids are special needs and while I do get some funding for them it’s only a couple hundred a month. It mostly pays for medical supplies. No one will want to be a roommate with a person who has two medical kids. I also don’t want the stress of getting a 4+ bedroom place and then the roommate takes off and I’m left paying for everything myself. I had it happen several years ago. I make decent money ( I am a pediatric LPN) but it’s not enough to survive on with the way things are going. I don’t want to have to move into a dangerous neighbourhood or a very run down and dangerous accommodation, just to make ends meet. Rent in Alberta is getting beyond ridiculous. I also have to compete against a lot of other people in this city for any accommodation. I’ve started looking at small towns for cheaper places but then that means my kids will be pulled from their special schools and I will either have to home school them, they go to regular schools and fail high school or they just drop out of school. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 😔small towns are almost just as expensive and then I will have to find a new job. Just frustrated at where housing in Alberta is at.
EDIT: yes I am open to having a 2 bedroom or even a 1 bedroom place to have a roof over our heads but it’s just disheartening that rent has gone up so much.

2024.05.16 10:37 whatever3653 How to stop a new job derailing my progress?

I guess this is kind of a plea for advice, kind of a rant and seeking solidarity!
I recently started a now job. I’m finding it very stressful, which I knew I would. I’m autistic, so work has always been hard for me and I’ve also been unemployed for 5 months so it’s quite an adjustment!
While I was unemployed, I got into some better habits. I started exercising and even completed couch to 5K. My weight loss began at my old job, but it was quite a physical role so it was easier. I’ve lost around 45lbs so far. I want to lose about another 25lbs.
My new job is office based and sedentary. I think it’ll be 3 days per week in the office. On those days I’ll be walking 45 mins each way on my commute (full commute takes me an hour and 15 mins, 2 and a half hours feels like such a big chunk of my day!). On work from home days I don’t move much at all.
I’m finding myself falling back into old habits of comfort eating, snacking on biscuits in the office, drinking lots of sugary coffee because I feel so exhausted. I haven’t run for two weeks and I’m worried about how much progress I’ll have lost. I’ve had a few binge eating incidents too. I struggle to get out of the mindset of food being my treat or pick me up after a tough day.
When I get home from work I’m exhausted. I don’t know how to fit in exercising, eating dinner, getting showered etc when it feels like I have no time. I find myself just wanting to curl up with my phone and hide away. I really want to keep up with getting fit and healthy, I just don’t know how to do it now I’m in a new routine and lots is changing.
It’s been a pattern for me to gain weight when I start a new job, and I don’t want it to happen again!
How do you guys fit in exercise? Are there any ways I can make fitting that in seem less daunting or make it more time efficient? Any tips on how to stop seeing food as a reward/self soothing thing?

2024.05.16 10:36 prettylilrebel WIBTA for Reporting my Husband & his father?

My family set up my marriage with a guy from USA whom I had never met before. It was an arranged marriage and I interacted with him the first time on the day of the wedding. What he and my family decided was that he will go back to USA after the ceremony and file for a spouse visa and then once the visa is processed then I will move in with him to USA. The guy married me out of an assumption that since I come from a Muslim country I must be very religious but that wasn’t the case. This was shocking for him and he told me from the very start that I will have to become more religious and cultural and started setting rules for me to follow. I grew up in a very conservative society but I have managed to do a lot of things that women in my community aren’t allowed to do. My family wouldn’t allow me to attend university unless I wore a burqa and I did that even though I hate the burqa but I knew I was gonna need education if I ever wanna liberate myself. My family wouldn’t allow me to work in office so I found a remote job and managed to become financially independent. I take a lot of pride in how far I have come in life and how resilient I have been and expected my partner to appreciate that as well. But he hates this about me and from day one he has tried to make sure that he changes me into a more religious and cultural woman. Everytime I would try to stand up to him, he would accuse me of being disobedient and would go and complain to my brother or father. He also started using the immigration paperwork to blackmail me and said he will file the paperwork once he is satisfied with my obedience towards him. I told him I don’t care about the paperwork and he doesn’t have to file. He started harassing my family to make me move in with him in my country since he knew I wont be able to get away from him here. I told my family I want a divorce and they said that’s not possible since no woman in my family has ever gotten a divorce. I have finally managed to end this arrangement and will be signing the divorce papers. I found out that his father got the citizenship by marrying an American woman but just a couple of years after marrying her, he came back to our country and married a woman here as well. Now he has been secretly married to this woman in my country and also has an American wife in USA. As per the law, bigamy is a crime in USA and also he must have lied to the immigration authorities as well since he hid his second secret marriage from them. He then sponsored his son and again he hid his secret marriage from immigration. From what I know this falls under immigration fraud and I want to report both of them to ICE since his son is aware of his father’s marriage too and helping him hide it. I admit, I am motivated by revenge but mainly I don’t like how their immigration status gives them the power to exploit women and I don’t want them to do that anymore.

2024.05.16 10:33 mrcountry88 When does the pain end?

I guess I should start with (35M), I honestly don't know if that's the right way. Nothing makes sense anymore.
I've been suffering with this horrific disease now since 2008. I had a series of bad injuries in the military I don't want to get into that. But the doctors say my major depressive order stemmed from that. I've been fighting it for years now. This post December I finally decided to try to get my life and health on track and I went to a primary physician. They had the mental health screening on the forms that I had to fill out. All these years I've always lied and just march everything good, everything's fine, everything's perfect. You know the usual fucking bullshit fake smile that we have all put on for the world so they don't know the deep dark black hole that infects our chests. I don't know what changed, I filled it out as honestly as I could in my score came back horrifically. I want to say it was a 21 testing and I scored 17. Before I could even get the words out to ask if it's bad My doctor said yeah we need to get you on some meds. I started off on 50 mg sertraline and 50 mg trazodone because I was not sleeping anymore. I started noticing the effects rather quickly. Everything was starting to feel much better. I started eating again, I started sleeping again, I even started smiling again, genuine real smiles. Then in March, I started having noticeable declines and my doctor bumped me up to 100 mg sertaline. Again same trend where everything started picking up and feeling good, feeling normal, feeling right. April comes along, I catch COVID while working across the country. I come home to recover and was home for 3 weeks. I was absolutely miserable the whole time despite taking my meds. I honestly was hoping the COVID would kill me at that point. Because how I felt from having it, and just my general mental health. Three and a half weeks goes by, I finally get to go back to work. Not even a week later, my boss says we need to have a meeting. It wasn't a meeting, there's never any intention of a meeting according to co-workers. My supervisor whined moaned and complained the whole time I was gone that we were losing revenue because of me. They talked about firing me the whole time.
Now I'm sitting here broke, alone, depressed, in my bedroom. I've been searching for over a week for employment. And honestly at this point, it doesn't look like I'm going to find anything quick enough to be able to pay for rent because of all this. I've hit a point where I feel like I've let my friends/roommates down. I'm at a point where I feel like I'm an absolute failure. My meds aren't working, I'm barely eating, I'm barely sleeping, I can barely get the interest to play my games. I turn my Xbox on and I just look at the TV. I feel like I'm a broken shell of a human being at this point. Sadly I feel like I'm starting to move on from passive suicidal ideation, into something much more terrifying. I can't bear the thought of being homeless, and even worse having to go through SSRI withdrawals because I don't have insurance or money for my medicine now. I just want this pain to stop. I just want to feel normal. I don't know what I'm doing wrong in my life.

2024.05.16 10:31 TwoDry6821 Bed bugs?!

We moved into a new house with new carpet, mattress, bed frame, bedding, everything. We live in the south, lots of bugs and we have a doggy door so things tend to come in. I have been waking up with bug bites….they come in pairs. This has been happening for about 2 weeks. I get a new pair of bug bites every few days. I notice them when I wake up. My husband and daughter sleep in the same bed but they do not have any bites so my husband does not think it’s bed bugs. I dont see any when i inspect the mattress….it’s driving me crazy! Could this be bed bugs?!

2024.05.16 10:24 Interesting_Mix1650 Sick of my in-laws

It’s been 5 years of happy marriage. My MIL is a single mother as my FIL passed away when my husband was in college with a heart attack. My SIL is like 10 years younger to me and there was a time during initial days of marriage where we stayed with them for a few months. Initially, I noticed that they did not treat my husband very well. The reason might be an age gap of 12 years between my SIL and my husband or because he wasn’t doing very well in his career. In every chance, my SIL tried to disrespect him and thereafter I witness a huge fight. I didn’t like the way she treated him and I tried to fix things between them since it’s family at the end of the day. However, things were still kinda weird between SIL and my husband and they hardly talk and I gave up on that since my husband also insisted that it’s better this way. Although, she was very sweet to me and I reciprocated that - planned birthdays for her since I thought it would be difficult for her, my MIL being a single mom. During our stay with them, I was laid off from my company (it was during covid) and I was finding it difficult to find another job.
We moved from there to another city since my husband was placed there with a high paying job and he had significantly progressed in his career. At the same time, I was still job hunting.
My in-laws visited us at our new place probably like after a year, and things changed just like that. My SIL started giving all the respect and love for her brother suddenly including my MIL and she started being like I’m going to be exactly like my brother. She started copying everything my husband does. And all of a sudden, she started this behaviour of being disrespectful to me since I was unemployed, putting me down during dinners by emphasising the fact to her brother that don’t worry, he doesn’t have to pay the bill always- she will start paying bills soon after college. She also tried to create issues between me and my husband by bringing up his past relationships- she highlighted that there was a time he had a crush on his cousin sister. (My husband had mentioned this to me and he admitted it was a stupid thing). Moreover, my SIL started passing slight comments to me like why do you go out of your way to plan birthdays etc. so, whenever they meet us, it’s been like this and my husband just tells me she is crazy but now surprisingly, they have started getting along well since she has started looking up to him. However I would like to emphasise the fact that my husband was very supportive when I was unemployed, and he tried to motivate me everyday.
There was also a point where my husband and I travelled abroad for a vacation and my in-laws hated me - they give subtle signs that they have to struggle there and I’m traveling abroad by just getting married. Also I’m from a rich family compared to them so my MIL keeps passing comments that my SIL had to struggle her entire life unlike me.
I find it so hard and I’ve been avoiding her. I finally found a job after 2 years of job search and constant interviews since the job market was bad. They still disrespect me sometimes in subtle ways or my MIL keeps comparing me with my SIL, she keeps praising her with things like oh my daughter is the best and she will be successful soon like she’s obsessed with her kids. They keep putting me down in a way that since I’m already 30, and I had a 2 year gap I’m never going to as successful as them. My SIL acts like this adult who has taken over everything just because she finished college and received a job offer immediately.
Currently, I’m happy with my job and things are going well on the career side for me. But whenever I meet them, I can’t handle this shit and I’m sick of this. And I don’t know how to stop this. The only thing I do is avoid them. It’s always like they give me the feeling that their family is doing much better than me and I don’t belong with them. How do I deal with this?

What do you think of the new dnd killer vecna because in this state it makes trapper look good
Most of his powers are useless, starting from worst to best. 1. The damage spell that spawns skeletons is bad in most cases since it can be avoided at the press of one button, "crouch," on top of the fact that it can be dodged by moving a little bit to the side of the killer or going into the killer since it starts to damage you from some range. It can't even be used as an artist crow since it has a maximum range on it, which feels like Deathslinger spear. The only benefit I've seen that you can hit sometimes (requires timing and luck depending on the loop) when a survivor refuses to look back and starts vaulting a window but still can be countered easily if they look back. Again the movement delay makes the chase worse most of the time so better not to ever use this. 2. the wizard hand that blocks pallets It is bad in all cases. The movement delay it gives you allows the survivor to make one more loop in case you block the pallet, and in case you lift the pallet, the survivor can either just drop it again or loop you again. The only benefit is that it scares clueless survivors who think this spell does anything and start running away when the counter to the spell is just continuing to loop the same loop because there is always a free loop. 3. The bubble spell gives some good information, but it moves either too slowly or, for some reason, has a range limit instead of traversing the map. 4. The flying spell is his best power, and it is only good for traversing the map so you can put pressure on survivors, but in chases it is useless. The delay after you land just gives enough time to be looped again, or if you fly over a pallet or window, it lands you automatically and just gives the survivor a free loop.
In Summery, the killer can be described as the delayed master with four useless powers, where the delay is more noticeable than what the power wants to even do or accomplish.

2024.05.16 10:17 Electrical-Cook-6804 Laptops or Virtual Desktops

I'll keep this short just looking for some direction.
Current state:
600 Users. Majority on site with limited WFH.
30% Laptops/70% Desktops split
Hybrid Infrastructure - M365 and On-premise ERP
ERP will continue to stay on-premise due to its heavy data/network/CAD workload.
WFH is a mixture of remote desktop to RDS farm or remote desktop to users office workstation.
Future state:
I am looking to move to a model where we can be more agile in the way we work and respond to DR scenarios. Recent event was a simple plumbing issue which meant we had no running watetoilets for a week. This was enough to call on our DR plan and move users home. This has been the first real scenario since COVID but since then we have grown and acquired.
My options at this stage is:
  1. Increase our laptop workforce, but I am hesitant due to the reliance on heavy workloads.
  2. Look at a Citrix or similar VDI environment and move to thin clients.
As much as moving to laptops is the simpler solution, I still like the desktop model but open to your thoughts and experiences.
