I have been working at a big company for 1.5 years now part time while doing my master's. My job is software development. This is my first professional job.I'm particularly good at the frontend side of things and find myself do my tasks quite well. I obviously make mistakes here and there but that's part of the job. I try nonetheless to polish my skills and I have learnt lots of stuff in this job and grew some confidence in my craft. The team I work for basically tries to solve or support in new ideas in form of design, POCs, MVPs and other stuff. Our development team is small. We are four who actually code and one tech lead with a decade of software development experience. He doesn't code anything though but just reviews code and is very opinionated. He always wants to have winning word. I'm constantly being asked by him to wear different hats. I find myself thrown on AI, backend, DevOps or frontend work. Sometimes I get tasks that are really difficult that I soend days and never get anything when I ask him he also doesn't know. He asks me to work in stuff that I have expressed multiple time I'm not interested in. In my view, I want to be focused on something so that I can good at it. Then I can explore other things. He recently asked to take mentor new commers and take more responsibility. Is this normal part time work or is it too much for someone my experience. I don't know what to do. I can't tell you how many times I doubted myself because I'm being assigned tasks way out of experience. I successful finish them most of the time but I take so much time resulting in me working until late at night. I can't quit I need money for now.

All throughout primary/highschool, I would let people use me. I had very little back bone for myself, I think I was half trying to figure out things that had happened. In the future I wasn't so resistant, he would just make me feel bad, I would let him do whatever, the feeling of bits of him left inside me, makes me want to die all by it self. Anyway, later on I had gotten into a relationship with this girl. We were together from the ages 17-20 (She like everyone else in my life knew who I was) She knew that sex was horrible for me, I still put out for her when I could. But when I couldn't, she didn't care, she would tell me I'm responsible for her mental decline and things. So I would just give in, most of the time I would just give her oral I preferred this. Sometimes though she wanted to touch me, i would protest and offer alternatives but she didn't care she would just start touching me, eventually she started to insert her fingers and I would literally have tears I my eyes saying no and she'd just keep going if not harder when I said to stop.
I just, fucking hate myself so much, I can't get it out of my head that I did this shit to myself. I feel so disconnected from it all, like the pain and emotions are there but it's just like watching a movie. They can't help with their late-night hunger sometimes, Matsunaga's been having trouble maintaining his large physique, slipping through the ropes with ease somehow. Taira thinks about it for a second, quickly dishing up some nabeyaki udon for them. Akiyama compliments Taira for his cooking, Taira says he's a natural at picking up recipes and ingredients, but there's also nothing to compete with. Taira looks back to see Matsunaga crying over his food. The food had reminded him of a sincere memory of his mother, thanking Taira for the treat. Matsunaga going from his local club to living in Esperion's dorm aiming to go pro with no other thoughts has had its toll on him.
Taira meets with Esperion's dorm mother Kiko Ooba (imagine a 36 year old Hana with short hair), returning to the dorms with ingredients he bought to replace the ones he used last night. Instead of punishing the offenders (like she usually does with Yoshitsune), she asks Taira to continue feeding the boys. Cooking Egusi soup for Osieck, some Japanese dishes for Sugawara and Numatasu, Taira spends every midnight cooking for the Esperion boys.
Esperion v. Seikyou had concluded and the A team promotions have come through, Taira is one of them. Taira does not take this news well, hiding in the dorm kitchen. He hears a noise, thinking it's Kiko but it's actually Kuribayashi. Taira offers to make Kuribayashi some food as well, but Kuribayashi tells Taira to sit down, he'll do something for him instead.

I want any sound my upstairs neighbor makes to be amplified back at them 2x. He works out between the hours of 1-3 AM in the morning right above my bed. I’m new-ish to reddit, but this has been weighing on me. All names are changed for the sake of the story. My ex (19) Sam and I (19f) started dating when we were juniors in highschool. I had gotten out of a horribly abusive relationship, and we were already close friends. Aside from friend group drama, our relationship was great. We were head over heels in love, and had plenty of mutual friends. Fast forward 1 year to the night before my 18th birthday. We heard about a house party and ended up going. They had invited their friend, Alex (20), to tag along. This wouldn’t have bothered me, but they invited them before they invited me, and only invited me when I practically asked to be invited. Eventually, I tell Sam that as their girlfriend I don’t feel comfortable with the fact that they are hooking up with Alex, who has made it very obvious that they don’t like me by actively talking shit about me. I tell them that, as a matter of fact, I don’t like that they’re still friends with them. Sam says they don’t have many friends, and that Alex is their best friend and the person that they trust the most in the world, with anything and everything. I’m convinced Alex has feelings for Sam, and a mutual friend of mine and Sam’s, and formerly Alex’s, even tells me that Alex has been raving about how Sam is the best sex of their life, and that Sam is so hot, and so perfect, and they’re being completely obsessive about Sam. I also bring this up. Nothing happens, and Sam and Alex remain friends, but stop hooking up. Then, one day I’m talking to Sam, and ask what they’re doing. They say they’re at home, but we had gotten Life360 for fun, and I remember seeing that they left home, so I check. Then I see that they’re at Planned Parenthood, right by my house. I ask, and they reveal that they’re taking Alex to an appointment. I ask why, and they say it’s personal. I tell them that that’s really suspicious. Sam is staying at Alex’s almost nightly, seeing them 4-6 times a week, and I only see them 1-3 times a week. Eventually, right before Valentine’s day, I tell them that I think they’re having an emotional affair, and I need them to treat me like they’re my partner, not Alex’s. After this fight, we break up mutually, and they say that nothing I say makes sense and I was entirely paranoid. We had attempted to stay friends, but currently are no contact. Am I the asshole?

26F; I am going to list it down in sequential events. TL;DR need to learn how to detach

1. Had a friend for almost two years, we used to vibe like crazy. One day we ended up hooking up. Had an agreement that we can stop when either of us feels like it but no relationship.
2. Cut to 6 months later I developed feelings for him
3. Conveyed the same to him 2 months later, we continued the hooking up part, but we didn't take it to the next step.
4. The hooking up continued for 10 more months.
5. In the meantime, he forgot my birthday; we never met to just hang; we still used to talk almost daily; he didn't go out on a date or anything with anyone else. We never met when I wanted to.
6. Recently had some shit going on in my personal life and I wanted to meet in person and talk to which he outright said no, and gave AI generated response when I tried texting. I lashed out and sent long paragraphs how its not working and we shouldn't talk anymore and he said okay.
7. In hindsight during our last conversation (Saturday) I also said somethings which as a friend I should have never said.
8. I apologised for what I said on Sunday night, and even called him (I had said something really nasty). I called him again to apologise last night as well but he didn't answer.

How do I move on from him? It feels like a part of me would accept him no matter what, when I know I shouldn't. even during our last fight I made it clear that we both wanted different things and its not okay that he gets what he wants while I am left confused. The thing is he says he doesn't want to get in a relationship. Even though I have apologised he hasn't reached out or tried to pacify things which makes me feel upset.
TL DR: how to move on from this? considering that we used to talk almost daily.

I am a 20F who works as a hostess in an EXTREMELY business restaurant. One of my responsibilities as a host is to seat tables as soon as possible to ensure they don’t have to wait too long. This is something we are specifically instructed to do by management.
A few nights ago, I was told by a fellow hostess —who was told by another hostess — that a particular table was “ready to go”. Additionally, the guests were at the host stand anticipating finally being sat so we were under a bit of pressure. This group of guests also included a person who was disabled (in a wheelchair).
I was told by the head hostess to lead the party to their table. So without a second thought, I grabbed menus and silverware and began walking them to the table. To my discovery, it wasn’t 100% done.
The busser was nearly finished with wiping it, but not completely. I didn’t think anything of allowing the guests to at least sit down and get comfortable in their seats—especially the disabled person who couldn’t walk. After all, the table was nearly clean and I didn’t want to keep them on their feet after they had waited a long time.
But the busser became furious, ran up to the host stand, and started berating me for not stopping the guests from sitting down before the cleaning was finished. I became enraged because:
1.) I didn’t actually tell the guests to sit. They automatically began to, and I felt like it wasn’t my place to tell them to keep standing for the table.
2.) I was not aware the table wasn’t finished. I was told to lead them over.
3.) This busser is notorious around the restaurant for having no sense of urgency despite how busy we are.
4.) He was talking to me about LOUDLY it in front of other guests, being hostile, and kept trying to chastise me like I was a child.
Something else I’d like to add it that the table he was wiping off was the only one open, as the rest of the tables already had occupants or were extremely dirty.
So I kept basically kept dismissing his silly feelings about it because it wasn’t that serious and I was just doing what I was told.
Basically, was I wrong in that situation or was the busser?

*SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE PROPHECIES BEGIN, THE NEW PROPHECY, TALLSTAR'S REVENGE*
I'm posting this at 2:39 AM so bare with me, I doubt I won't make grammatical mistakes.
I wrote a little fanfiction on Rusty joining RiverClan when I was younger. Although some of me still wonders if he'd go to RiverClan, I think he'd have joined WindClan. Hear me out:
So many plot opportunities.
1) The fight between ShadowClan and WindClan that drove WindClan out, becoming friends with Onewhisker, and what if he brought back the tunneling? WindClan was always meant to be closest to StarClan, so maybe his close connection to StarClan would make more sense.
2) Rusty was always a leader at heart. Tallstar most likely would have elected him deputy. With Tallstar as his mentor, how much differently would his personality have developed? Would he continue on as deputy into The New Prophecy, or would Tallstar die sooner? I think if Firestar ended The Prophecies Begin as deputy, it might have been better plotwise. Very few deputies ever become leader as quickly as he did. Although, ending The Prophecies Begin on the role of deputy could be disappointing.
3) As Fireheart, he was willing to do things other cats wouldn't agree with. He allowed Cinderpelt to help Littlecloud and Whitethroat despite knowing Bluestar would not appreciate it, and he kept Graystripe's relationship with Silverstream secret even though it broke the warrior code. Tallstar's Revenge covered a lot of Tallstar's feelings about being rejected and misunderstood. I wonder if Tallstar would be more accepting of Fireheart following his own rules in dire times.
4) His relationship with Morningflower could have been more meaningful if they were in the same Clan. I feel as though a lot of WindClan cats respected him before ThunderClan did. Sandstorm and Dustpelt still resented him when he became friends with Onewhisker, what if WindClan was more accepting? After all, WindClan had a different relationship with outside cats than other Clans, as detailed in Tallstar's Revenge.
So, although many of my reasons are based on plot, I also think the idea of Rusty chasing after a big rabbit as a clumsy apprentice is endearing, and I think he'd enjoy looking up at the stars at night on the moor. But that's me. What do you think? Where would Rusty go?

I've been lurking here since I uploaded my first video on YT, and I've found some of your threads here useful. So I thought I'd give back with a write up on my monetization journey, which, although not lightning fast, has been medium-fast (two months and two weeks from my first upload).
Who am I?
I'm a fashion photographer, with 10+ years of experience in my main field, and 3+ years of experience in the generative AI field. I started working with generative AI for a project with Vogue Italia right before the main publicly available applications were released to the wider public (Dall-E, MidJourney, Stable Diffusion), and since then my work has been a mix of traditional photography and generative AI. And that's why I became a part-time Tuber.
Finding a niche
While I was implementing gen AI more and more in my fashion photography works, I was struggling to find professionally oriented tutorials on YT. There's a ton of content about gen AI, covering news, tools, and starting out with it, but there was close to no in-depth, real-world use cases focused tutorials. So I though - hey, I'm using it in my own works. I know a ton of fellow professionals who can use it too. I can't be the only one looking for this kind of content. Maybe I should create that content myself.
Now, I don't know what you're interested in, but in order to find a niche, I'd do the same: find something you like and know about, and check if there's some aspects of it which no one covers, and you know you can cover yourself.
From the comments and commission requests I've gotten in two months, I was right. Which leads us to...
Offering value
My content is long and incredibly tedious. Honestly, it's quite boring to the layman. But it's necessary for anyone who wants to learn something applicable in their own field *or* anyone who wants to start using AI tools in their own traditional workflows, so I realized those are my audience.
To those people, I'm offering value, even if the videos are long and boring. But it's the fact that they're long and boring that's giving me an edge. Let me explain how.
Basically, from the first video, I had to choose if:

• I wanted to go straight to the point and show how things were done with the tools I was using, and show real life examples, or;
  
• I wanted to spend the necessary time to explain to anyone, even those who had no skillset in the tools I was using, how things were done.
  

I decided to go with the latter. My videos are complete tutorials, A to Z, made for people who know basically nothing about generative AI, guiding them from knowing nothing to doing exactly what I'm doing, explaining how I set up things and, most importantly, why I do it the way I do it.
Now, I needed a way to not lose the attention of people who already knew how to go from A to G, but not from G to Z, so in the first minute or so I always say something along the lines of "ok, so now I'm going to build all of my workflow from scratch, so if you're not interested in how and why it works this way, you can find the timestamps here and jump ahead to the demonstration segment".
This works, and it's why my watch curve looks like a "U". A good 25-30% of people are interested in the "how it's done", while 35-40% are interested in "what it looks like".
The only negative comment I've ever received on my format, which was something like "dude, you're too slow", was followed by a comment, a month later, by the same user, saying "I get now why you're slow, not everyone's at the same level. Please disregard my previous comment".
Strategy
Overall, I upload weekly, same day, same time, unless:

• I want to stream (unscheduled, spur of the moment short streams, around 2 hours each);
  
• something huge has come out in my niche and needs to be covered as soon as possible.
  

I don't post shorts anymore, since:

• I'm not good at making them;
  
• I don't like making them;
  
• they don't provide value to my core audience.
  

The long term goal is to find new clients for my day job, and to do consulting work on the side, given that my audience perceive me as an expert in my field.
Metrics
Now, I think that the metrics I've seen both here and in the Partnered sub are completely skewed towards niches that are not appliable to me or fellow tutorial YouTubers, or for this sub in particular, are skewed towards creators who don't have large view counts.
20-30% CTR? 50% AVD? These kind of numbers, to me, would mean that I struck gold and I created something that was flying off the shelves like cakes during the French revolution (even if that never happened). Or, most likely, that no one is watching my content expect for my most hardened userbase, *and* YT didn't push the video at all to outside audiences.
My usual metrics, which are a direct result of both my very niche content and the nature of my content (tutorials), are around 8-10% CTR and 12-18% AVD. And the videos with these metrics get pushed, hard, to outside audiences.
I think YT's algorithm kind of understands that my content is not meant to be watched from start to finish, and that my audience is very selective of what it's useful to them. So either it doesn't care about the usual metrics I see thrown around here, or those metrics are inflated.
I also think (but again, sample size=1, me) that YT kind puts each and every one of us into a "box" of sorts, in terms of how much it wants to push our content. At first, my videos had a max impressions of around 10k. Nowadays, it's more in the realm of 50-200k, and it's reflected in the amount of impressions my newest videos get when they're published. The curves all look the same until one video breaks out, and a new standard is expected out of my next videos.
Also, each video is their own thing. If a video's CTR tanks in the first few hours, I can expect it to not reach the same audience that my most successful videos reach in the same amount of time, and that's because...
YouTube wants people to see (your) videos
Well, maybe not *your* videos, and maybe not *all* your videos, but the way YT works is opposite of the way IG works, for example. While IG has no monetary incentives to pushing free content, and has to push paid content in between free content, YouTube makes money out of people seeing free content, because the paid content (ADs) is embedded into the free content (videos).
So if your video is good, YT has no issues pushing it. If your video is not good, too bad, there's another content creator in your niche who has a better video, so let's push their video instead.
By providing value to your viewers, you're providing value to YouTube and their ADs, so either you and YT win, or another content creator and YT win. In the eyes of YT, everybody wins all the time.
Increasing CTR
If you're like me, you know, in your heart of hearts, that a catchy title and a great thumbnail are as important as the content of your video. If you're like me, the thumbnail's the last thing you prepare, and we're both wrong.
Seriously, get good at creating good thumbnails. Since I've started focusing more on thumbnails, my CTR has gotten, if not better in the long run (since all videos default to kind of the same CTR the longer the video has been out for and the wider the audience is), better in the first few hours and days, which increases the audience drastically.
I know this is a boring part of the creative process, but get good at it.
Also, experiment with multiple thumbnails during the first hours when a video has been published. A thumbnail you expected to do well might not be as catchy as you thought. Try 3 or 4 different thumbnails and see what sticks.
Increasing AVD
Now in my case I can't do much about it, since the format I've chosen is kind of non-negotiable and it's what brings value at the expense of AVD, but if you're:

• seeing a sharp decrease in viewers around the 00:30 mark, work on your intros and get straight into the action;
  
• seeing a below 30% retention rate throughout the video, either there was no need for this content, or you're not covering it well enough (or you're not engaging enough);
  
• overall, give the viewers a reason to stay engaged throughout the different sections of the video.
  

Streaming
I discovered streaming way too late, and I wish I did it way earlier. It would have had me monetized at least a couple of weeks sooner.
But in order to do it well, you need:

• a good userbase who wants to extract more infos and values from things you're not covering in your uploads;
  
• the skillset necessary to basically host a mini-show.
  

The latter is the hardest part, and I only know how to do it because I'm used to giving speeches and lessons. But, like all skills, it's not something you're born with, it's something you train and get good at, so if you're into it try it and get better at it over time.
Equipment
I'm lucky enough to have a day job that covers most of the equipment needed. My camera and lenses are the same I'm using for my day job, I already had a mic, my PC is an absolute beast because of the generative AI work I do, so I think I spent like 20 bucks for a mic arm and that's it.
In anyone else's case, though, the most important things to invest in is:

• a good mic, since audio quality is more important than video quality (tons of people have terrible displays, but tons of people like to hear nice audio);
  
• 8 hours in DaVinci Resolve, and I swear you don't even need the full 8 hours, you just need to understand how to trim, cut and paste clips, how to improve your audio, and how to export files;
  
• only then, and maybe, a good enough camera, good lighting (my light is literally an ikea lamp with a 5 bucks white scrim on it, I just know how to make it look good because of my day job), minimum hardware.
  

Final considerations
Some of you may have more trouble with subs, some with watch hours (in my case, I got 2.5k subs before I reached my watch hours goal), some of you may find trouble expressing yourselves in front of the camera, or talking well, or may prefer scripts rather than talking freely while doing things, but all in all:

• do what you're good at;
  
• improve what you're lacking in;
  
• know what's useless to improve.

I’ll keep this as concise as possible.. I’ve been using Obagi Tretinoin 0.05% for around 6 months now, every single night with no issues whatsoever (the occasional light burn will appear if I rub it in too close to the more sensitive skin by my eyes).
Studies suggest that you can see ‘cosmetic results’ from 0.05% in 12 months, but that time is halved when using 0.1%.
My question is.. Had anybody made the switch over? And how did it go for you?
For more background.. I don’t have acne and very rarely get spots. I started using retinol for around 8 months before moving on to Tretinoin, purely for the anti aging benefits and better overall skin. I’d say my skin looks very healthy, and I have noticed a big difference since using the 0.05%. No question.
But I’m convinced that the 0.1% could speed everything up, and if my skin can handle it.. I can’t see why not, but I would love some feedback from anyone who has had experience

So I created a YouTube horror gaming channel just over a month ago . I post quite regularly and in a month and a bit I created over 20 videos (including shorts) . I post horror gaming videos (15min to 40 min long) and my jump scare reactions on shorts with a link to my long form video, which seem to attract people to watch my long form videos and then subscribe.
So far, by doing this, I gained over 380 subscribers and I’m really chuffed with this. My goal is to hopefully turn it into a passive income one day.
However, I’ve been viewing a lot of gaming channels and noticed that some with 50k / 100k subs only pulling 1/5k views at most. And it got me thinking.. what are peoples expectations when creating a gaming channel? Is it mainly for fun? Or you want to get some money out of it eventually?
I’m hoping to build up my YouTube and tik tok and start live streaming. People tend to give gifts when you live stream on tik tok so that could also add on to the passive income and get your face out there more.. is anyone doing this? I broke up with my bf last night, 2 reasons: bad spending habits and he always lies to me. I will just focus on the first one here.
My bf (now ex) has been nothing but good to me in the past two years but he just admitted that he has bad spending habits. I have been trying to help him to clear his cc card amounting to $1,600 that has been sitting for almost a year now. Can you imagine the interest?
No, I’m not helping him financially but by giving him advice. I took his cc card almost two months ago to prevent him from using it. And what triggered me to finally break up with him was when he admitted that he still has another cc card with $3,000 balance due. Here, i felt betrayed. I am not an expert but i definitely know something about finance and investing. In fact, it is kind of my pet peeve to see an unpaid cc balance due, that’s why I always clear mine monthly.
