Title says it all. I feel like there has been a lot of cool legendary creatures that have come out on Arena exclusively when paper Magic would have greatly benefited from them. Vexyr, for example, would have been a perfect golem commander, and his wording could have been easily adapted for normal Magic.
Idk I'm not a fan of format-exclusive cards, especially ones you can't even own a physical copy of.

if you are involved in the shifting community, you may have seen the mention of some sort of 'lifa app' with no explanation as to what it is. sometimes, in scripts, it will say stuff such as...
'when i shift to this reality, i will have a lifa app to check in on my cr self and it cannot be deleted or destroyed.'
but what is the app that everyone is talking about? is it an actual app or sort of app in another reality that everyone just knows of?
in this post, i will be explaining the lifa app as a full guide of how to use it. its features, and what it is.

༊·˚🌿 what is the lifa app? ༊·˚🌿

the lifa app is a reality shifting based app that lets you keep track of your dr or multiple drs in literally every way imaginable. from the time it is to your memories. it even gives you diary entries for yourself. it is meant to be used as a tool to help shifters keep track of all of their information about them and their dr. it also allows a gateway to meet other shifters like yourself and shift with them to the same reality.

the lifa app has many features. the main ones you can see first are dr details, visualizations, group shifting, sharing.
let's go over each feature one by one.

: ̗̀➛ dr details

the first thing that you will get when you are greeted by this an i icon that says about this dr. when you click on it, you are able to type the location and a background story about your desired reality.
: ̗̀➛ time
this feature allows you to add a time and date to your dr. time will pass the same as it does here. for example in my dr, it is currently november 19, 2130 and is 1:47 pm. i chose to freeze time in this dr and submitted it.
: ̗̀➛ theme
this holds the name of what your dr is called, the icon it has, and the background of it when you click on the app. you can also choose the font color and a background tint as well. it also holds your name in your dr.
: ̗̀➛ timeline
you are able to establish a timeline of your desired reality before the point that you shift. i recommend keeping it brief to the important stuff. main instances of childhood and things that you remember with the same importance as you do now.
: ̗̀➛ notion script
this feature is if you have a script on the website notion script. it is a website in which you can gather and fill in shifting templates and is a great way to organize yourself. this is not necessary though. there are other features you can use for your script on here.
: ̗̀➛ about me
this is just a section where you write all about yourself. your name, your age, nicknames, safe word, height, hometown, ethnicity, race, nationality, sexuality, pronouns, gender, language(s), positive traits, negative traits, habit, likes, dislikes, hobbies, and skills.
: ̗̀➛ relationships
when you enter this tab, it will take you to a screen that has a place where you can add family members, friends, pets, significant other(s) or 'other'. the other tab has you in it.
when you decide to add let's say a friend, you start off by adding their name. then there age, closeness, and appearance. you can follow that up by adding a photo of said friend. you can type in relationship dynamic, how you met, and extra info. the format is the exact same no matter the type of relationship aside from pets.
the pet section is a little bit different. you add their name, age, species, pet bed, size, and about them.
there is also a recorder option where you can move around the placements of these characters.
: ̗̀➛ scenarios
this includes upcoming scenarios that you had planned, past scenarios that you did while in your reality, desired upcoming scenarios that include no date but you want to do or have plans to do. finally, you have memories which has no date. these are things that you will automatically remember when in your dr.
it's just a brief section where you can type in a title and add as much as you want of details of that memory. you can add a photo and select if it has a date or if it is a past memory or not.
: ̗̀➛ calendar
this just has the date of your dr. you can also create events on specific dates. that's pretty much it, this section is short.
: ̗̀➛ diary
you can write diary entires. talk about your day, memories, anything that may make you feel closer to your dr. this section is also short.
: ̗̀➛ playlist
so is this one. you make a playlist. and link the playlist, whenever you open the playlist, you get a new tab that takes you to that playlist to listen. i use it to keep my shifting subliminal playlist, but you don't have to.
: ̗̀➛ hero/villain
this is a tab within a tab so i'm bolding it. the first tab is customize, but that feature is locked behind a paywall with a monthly subscription of $3.99. i will talk about the subscription later.
then you have powers. you type the name of it and what your powers do. you have weapons which have the same explanation as powers. missions means you can make your own missions.
then there is combat skills. you list your strength, speed, agility, intelligence, compatibility, stamina, and flexibility out of five. then you can add your backstory. it's a blank sheet where you can type it out.
next is costumes where you describe what your costume looks like.
ally team includes your team name, how well you work together, specific events and upcoming battles, and other details. you can also add relationships from your relationship section and names of that.
enemy team is relatively the same. a team name, specific events or battles, other details, and can once again, select relationship with each member.
finally, there is timeline which has a title and description. you can also add scenarios if needed.
thankfully, that is thee last feature about dr details and we can now move on to visualizations.

: ̗̀➛ visualizations ‧₊˚🖇️✩

this tab focuses all on the visual aspects of your desired reality. even if you can't visualize, you can still use these to get a good idea on what things will look like.
: ̗̀➛ appearence
you can add a hair claim, face claim, body claim, hand claim, voice claim, and specific features claim. personally, i think that the last one could be explained easily in body or face claim.
either way, when you press one of these tabs, you can type in a detailed description on what you look like. now, i didn't notice at first but all the way at the bottom will be a small section that says add photo to which you can go into your gallery and choose a photo for yourself on that specific claim.
: ̗̀➛ wardrobe
this section will include an area that says wardrobe. you press the giant + sign on the top right hand corner and it takes you to a section that says create wardrobe. all you gotta do is add a title and a description. once you do that, you click on the tab again and then add a photo of a specific outfit of yours. you can add multiple photos, move them around using the recorder option right next to photos.
: ̗̀➛ photo gallery
you can make multiple photo galleries , customize albums of different things relating to your dr.
: ̗̀➛ pinterest boards
here you can add the link to your pinterest board...and a title. that's about it.
: ̗̀➛ wallet
this does not connect to any funds in this reality. it's supposed to keep track of money in your dr. i find this feature a bit dumb tbh and seems to waste more time preparing to shift than actually shifting.
: ̗̀➛ outfits
again, this is the same as wardrobe but more customized. you can add each individual clothing item separately if you wanna do that.
: ̗̀➛ belongings
you add photos and a title of what you own and its sentiment. yeah.
: ̗̀➛ or self
it has a stick figure of you. you list your family, what they're doing, their location, and your action, mood, and location.
: ̗̀➛ music group dr
without paying, you can only add one music group and one album. there is a members tab but you need a monthly subscription in order to access it.
i use this feature in one dr to describe my favorite band to listen to and an album i like. if you wanna add more than one album, then you also need to pay,
: ̗̀➛ school app
this is a doozy and has multiple tabs so this will be rapid fire.
you have your student i.d. report card, schedule.
schedule contains period, subject, and teacher. your school in your dr. you can add a photo, location, mascot, colors, class song, traditions, and history of your school.
you can also add your school uniform if you have one. this includes daily uniform and gym uniform. you can add a school map and a yearbook (????????)
again, these are fine i think but the yearbook seems unnecessary, just script who is in your class with you.
also there's a teacher mode but you can only access that with payment.
: ̗̀➛ chat
you can make a chatroom. and roleplay as every single member in that chatroom...for some reason. i don't need to repeat myself here, you already know what i'm going to say.
: ̗̀➛ chat ai
this is locked behind a paywall. just use character ai, it's free and you don't have a limit of 200 messages per day.
: ̗̀➛ family tree
for some reason you can't add siblings. the only way to add siblings kinda is to make them have the same parents as you on a new family tree.
this is just so not necessary. just write down your siblings in your script. no need for your entire extended bloodline. the universe will figure that out.
: ̗̀➛ places
you add places in your dr.
: ̗̀➛ fame phone
you can make a knock off insta account, twitter account, a wikipedia, and a youtube. again, not needed. just shift. also the settings and notifications features are locked behind a paywall.

: ̗̀➛ group shifting

you need to convert your account into an online account. but you can connect with other people and plan to shift together as a group. for those that don't know, group shifting is where you and one or more people collectively decide to shift to the same dr as different people and basically share an experience in that dr.

: ̗̀➛ sharing

the exact same thing as above. except this time you can just share your dr. you need an account to access this feature. it can give others ideas on scripts, drs, or anything else of the sort. it can be a great way to connect with others.

𓍯𓂃ᥫ᭡.🩹 final thoughts 𓍯𓂃ᥫ᭡.🩹

i think some of its features are helpful! however, other parts of it can be very distracting from shifting. i almost felt like this was an oc maker rather than shifting app. some of these i think didn't need so many features. the amount of features there are is crazy. the features section alone i needed to divide into several sections because it took so much longer to get through than i initially thought. it took about two hours to review each of them and i had to take breaks in between. to a new shifter especially, this would be so overwhelming.
you don't need face claims, body claims, or special features claims. as long as you have a general idea of what you and your desired reality is like then you're fine. this is just gonna over complicate shifting and make it seem more fictional in a way. if anything, this makes you less connected to your desired reality since your focusing so much on this one.
it wouldn't be a waste to download it but i wouldn't recommend buying it. but if you do, then more power to you.

I've been playing around with GPT4 and 4o, trying to have them generate JSON code for canvases. I currently don't have the time to perfect this, but would like any advice people who actually code may have?
It's easy to get okish results by feeding GPT an image of the Canvas and the code that generates that canvas. But there are rules and logic I can't follow. Are there resources specifically for this?
I also think there is huge potential to create a plugin that Auto creates a Canvas based on the note you're currently in. I don't have the knowhow to do this, so the idea is free to anyone who does.

2024.05.19 01:59 Asleep_Swing2979 My personal (possibly controversial) opinions about the contestants and their chances to debut.

This is just some of my own thoughts, so don't take it too seriously, and of course feel free to agree/disagree in the comments. I'll just assume that the group will be 7 members. I don't think it will be less than that and it's unlikely that part 2 of the entire show will eliminate just 3 members over the course of 4/5 episodes and have 9 members debuting.
1) Jungeun
One of the most well-rounded and skilled contestant on the show. But she doesn't seem to be that popular in Korea, and outside of 'Drama' in the first round she hasn't had a standout performance either. She was good in 'Fine', but in my opinion she was outshined by both Jiyoon and Fuko. Her chances to debut don't seem to be great right now, she'll need either really good storyline/performances in the future rounds, or be a producer's pick (assuming the format is similar to I-land 1).
2) Jeemin
The most likely to debut as of right now. Popular both domestically and internationally, has an existing fanbase from the previous survival show. Good danceperformer, has received mostly positive edits, there isn't much to say.
3) Fuko
Another contestant whose chances are quite high. A popular well-rounded trainee who got to showcase her vocal skills in 'Fine', she's also a shoe-in for the leader or co-leader position in the future group based on the episodes we've seen so far. Reminds me a bit of Eunbi (PD48) and Yujin (GP999) in terms of storyline / edits. Fuko is probably also the Japan's #1 in the show, which will practically guarantee her debuting spot.
4) Saebi
The visual/center type. She's tall, pretty and has had multiple standout moments and good edits in the show. Seems popular with viewers, so another likely contestant to debut. I don't rate her as high as some people but I can totally see the appeal.
5) Jiyoon
Definitely has been one of the most interesting contestants to follow. Love her vocals, but would like to see more of her skills in different concepts and genres. I think a lot of viewers sympathize with her storyline so Jiyoon is a very strong contender for the debut. I can see her 1-pick numbers be really high. Also shootout to her for consistently giving us some of the most dramatic moments in the whole show.
6) Sujung
I don't think she's debuting. Sujung was robbed in the creative unit battle for sure, but I don't know if it really matters. Being a good choreographer is cool and all, but it's not really a skill that will impress viewers. She honestly hasn't stood out for me as a dancer. Sujung is great technically but she doesn't have the same pull as some other contestants. Unless she's secretly an amazing vocalist, it will be an uphill battle for her in Part 2 against more popular competition.
7) Lingling
Obviously has support from SEA region, but producers clearly don't want her. I saw her like three times since the start of the show. I don't really have an opinion on her.
8) Mai
She finally got an interesting arc in the last episode. She's skilled, has stunning visuals, I think her popularity will keep growing if she gets more screentime in Part 2. Would be my choice for a second Japanese member in the debuting line-up alongside Fuko.
9) Yui
Quite underrated in my opinion. I liked all of her performances, especially 'Whistle'. She is probably the best rapper on the show. But unfortunately I don't think her chances of debuting are that great.
10) Koko
One of the best dancers on the show. Seems fairly popular and well-liked. I'm not sure the producers want her in the lineup though, since she doesn't get a lot of screen time even in the performances she's highly scored for.
11) Chaeeun
Surprisingly popular domestically. A lot of Koreans like her attitude and visuals. Might be a dark horse for the debut spot if she keeps improving and get positive edits.
12) Yeeun
Another contestant I didn't expect to do so well. But she's really pretty and I suppose she has turned out to be a decent stan attractor too.
13) Sarang
Seems to be pretty skilled. I honestly don't have her in my top picks, but she is popular and will definitely be a contender for the final lineup. She's one of the contestants I'll pay closer attention to in the Part 2. I think she is a candidate to be a producer's pick too, they seem to like her.
14) Yuju/Gyuri/Juwon
These 3 are the only other contestants that I think have chances to make it to the Part 2 outside of the girls I've already mentioned above. I don't really have strong opinions on any of them, but I think they've had some decent performances (Gyuri in Twice's song and Yuju in the creative unit battle for example) and are definitely in other people's 6-picks.
Overall my preferred final lineup would be Jeemin, Fuko, Saebi, Jiyoon, Jungeun, Mai, Yui as of right now, but the more realistic prediction is something like Jeemin, Fuko, Saebi, Jiyoon, Mai, Sarang, Yeeun.

I’m confused as to why there’s no specific introductory requirement to get licensed but you have to do this throughout your career. Wouldn’t it make more sense to just have a degree before you can be licensed?

Way Library is hosting another one of its Starcraft LAN parties in the Technology Lab on 6/12/24 from 6:00pm-8:30pm. This time around, the library has upgraded to newer computers. Game formats will include both co-op and PVP. Just as an FYI though, the head of the event said the library's earbuds aren't the best, so if you want to keep your game audio to yourself, you may want to bring your own headphones.
The head of the event plans to continue having LAN parties for this and other games in the future. For example, all of the computers also have the original Unreal Tournament installed on them. If there is any game the community is interested in playing at a LAN party in the future, you may want to consider bringing it up to Travis McAfee as he is open to future suggestions. If there is sufficient demand, it could help open up some cool new events.
This event is still a few weeks out, so if you know anyone that would be interested in attending, feel free to spread the word. I look forward to seeing you all there :)

People with industry experience have generally told me something like, “The big print-on-demand companies print books using huge, industrial printers that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Obviously, the quality is going to be much better than your janky home printer.”
It turns out that’s not true!
I'll show you four scanned images of the first paragraph of a book. The first two are from the print-on-demand companies IngramSpark (who I believe printed it with something like a Canon/Océ ColorStream 6000) and Amazon KDP (who I believe used something like a Canon varioPRINT 6000 Series TITAN). The second two are from my ancient home printers: a Dell Laser Printer 1710n from 2005, and a Brother MFC-9840CDW from 2008.
First let’s take a look at the whole page width.

At this zoom level, all four look pretty similar in print quality. The initial capital “A” on the left looks different, and I’ll explain that in a minute. But the normal-sized letters, set in 12-point Garamond Pro, appear quite comparable. The background of the first two scans is slightly darker than the second two, but this is only because fiction books are printed on cream-colored paper, not white printer paper.
But when you hold these pages in your hand at book-reading distance, they don’t look much alike. To see why not, let’s zoom in closer.

Looking at all four first words, including a little slice of the initial capital “A”, you can tell that IngramSpark is using an inkjet printer, where Amazon is using a laser printer. The dithered texture of the capital “A” is characteristic of inkjet printers. The last three show halftoning on the capital “A”, which is how laser printers typically print grayscale. Amazon KDP and my old Dell 1710 seem to have the same number of lines per inch in the halftone, though Amazon’s halftone dots look more uniform. The Brother 9840 has more lines per inch in the halftone, and the halftone dots are rounder. This makes sense when you look at the dots per inch (DPI) of resolution that those three printers can achieve. The TITAN is 600x1200 DPI, the Dell is 1200x1200 DPI, and the Brother is 2400x600 DPI.
Finally, let’s zoom in to the level of a single word:

Looking at them from top to bottom:

The worst one is IngramSpark. The outlines of the letters are clearly quite rough and irregular. And interestingly, the irregularity is mostly in the vertical direction. This is probably because of the extremely high paper speeds in those continuous-feed inkjet printers. You can’t see all these details when reading a book that's printed this way, but the naked eye can certainly tell that the letters have fuzzy outlines. It’s not egregious, but it’s noticeable.
Amazon KDP is third-best. It’s crisp, and their printer drum is clean, so there are no little voids in the letters like there are for my Dell printer below. But look at those stair-step edges on the letter “w”. That probably means that Amazon is running at 600x600 DPI instead of 1200x1200, presumably to speed up printing. So KDP could potentially look better, but that might take a bite out of Amazon’s profit margins :) At arm’s length under a reading light, it looks plenty good.
I’d say the Dell printer is second-best: There are a few one-pixel voids in the letters, which probably just means that my printer drum needs cleaning :) But the edges and halos look about as good as the Brother printer below.
The sixteen-year-old Brother printer gives the best print quality, in my opinion. The letter edges are pretty smooth, though not perfectly so, with little lumps or knobs every so often. There’s a bit of a halo around the edges, but not much, and it’s the same thickness in the horizontal and vertical directions.

In summary:

Amazon KDP print quality is slightly worse than an old home laser printer
IngramSpark print quality is noticeably worse than an old home laser printer

For example, these documents were saved as CHORDSC23 and now the files are CHORDSC23.C23. All chapters from 1 to 33 are in this format, and their file type has changed to .C23, .C30, etc.
Is there any way that I can resolve this? Word's recovery/ repair tool doesn't seem to work.

2024.05.19 00:18 Jobby_Hogger My detailed BAR experience from this morning

Took BAR this morning, I studied for about six weeks using UWorld. I have only taken FAR as my first before this. I guess I just wanted to make this post because we are all a little in the dark with the lack of information for the new discipline exams. I for one was a little exasperated seeing people talking about how much harder BAR was than ISC or TCP, and if you are using UWorld like me you already decided your discipline. Of course I'm going to wait for the score release 6/24, but I'm not inclined to study for another discipline. I realize not all exams are the same but here was mine.
I got through the MCQ's very quickly, just under 90 minutes. I was feeling really good about this after spending more like 2 hours on them for FAR. I saw a lot of governmental/NFP questions here, another post I had read here said they weren't tested more than 1-2 questions on it, I would say mine was more like 10. I absolutely drilled this area in the week before the test because it seemed so foreign to me, and it served me very well to instantly know the answers to questions like whether to include fiduciary funds in government wide statement of activities, for example. Some things I was a little caught off guard by:
COSO, R&D/Software (expense vs. capitalize), Pensions. These three areas probably had 3-5 questions each, I was a little surprised given the weighting in the UWorld material (only 15/1600 questions in the whole catalogue for pensions). I had only 2-3 variance questions, a weak area of mine that I was able to get on top of using the PURE SAD DADS pneumonic that I saw mentioned here.
The sims were extremely information heavy and it was overwhelming even with how much time I had banked on the MCQs. Before my break the first I probably spent damn near 40 minutes on, the ratios were provided but it was very calculation heavy and you were asked to make pretty detailed assertions from a drop down/mcq format about whether the company used their assets effectively based on their trend in ROA. I would say its important to know exactly what the metrics and ratios indicate and what is a "good" number for each. The next was a governmental topic that went pretty quick- what amounts were included as other financing sources, etc.
The 5 remaining sims after the break, I really lost track of time on. There was a cost one that was so exhibit heavy asking about reorder point and storage costs, that was difficult and I know I blew it. One was revenue recognition, adjustments to recognize revenue based on a bunch of email. One was on WACC/capital structure, including dividends and multiple scenarios for different capital structures. One was an option compensation scenario, this was pretty in depth beyond what just studying MCQ prepared me for. Revaluation at multiple reporting dates, liability based share comp, etc.
