2024.05.16 15:26 Peach-Salty Need help upgrading my current build

My current build can be found here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ppLMN6 I am mainly upgrading my GPU as it is currently the ARC A750 LE. After a lot of consideration, I've deduced that I need something in the 4070 family (open to any suggestions). I'm a casual gamer and am mostly engrossed in programming and work(university and research). The ARC GPU has honestly done a perfect job running everything I throw at it and was a great purchase for my initial build. However, I find myself wanting to have a flawless level of quality and graphics whenever I do play. I also don't want to have to always tweak every little graphics setting to optimize everything, I just want it to work with only my intervention being as needed. I also found myself needing more VRAM as 8GB simply isn't enough for the sort of titles I wish to play on PC (think games like TLOS).
So that is why I am upgrading, below I will list what I am looking for in my GPU:
Other than that I know I will be getting another SSD and maybe another 16GB of RAM. However, I do not know what the general pros/cons of getting more RAM in my case. I run a WSL for programming and have an addiction to Chrome so I know it'll help there, but I don't know about the gaming side of things. Hopefully, I won't need to upgrade the PSU, but I will if need be.
To summarize: what GPUs would you recommend, do I need a different/better monitor for this upgraded GPU(specs?), and would more RAM be worth it?
Thank you, any suggestions and advice are appreciated.

2024.05.16 15:24 missmatchedcleansox What to do when SpEd is not available at school?

Hello! I am a mother of an absolutely sweet and wonderful 13 year old son who struggles with ADHD and he struggles with creating relationships with staff because he is also shy and stubborn. He is also extremely smart which has its pros and cons (namely refusing to do work because it’s boring to him and he gets overstimulated). he has Sensory Processing Disorder (he gets triggered when the classroom is chaotic and loud like group projects etc) and he also has impulse rage problems which has landed him in in-school and out-school suspension.
This year has been an absolute hellhole. He does not deal with change well if he’s not prepared.
Now I am close to teachers, and Paras in our schools SpEd program and right now they are having a Mass Exodus because of lack of Directional mismanagement as well as micromanagement on the district level. So the entire district basically has no SpEd. Currently at his school alone there are more than 15 job openings since January and not one application. All of the SpEd teachers and paras this year are leaving- and I do not blame them one bit… but it puts me in a pickle.
The three options we have are 1. keep him at this school where he has friends, and will know a few of the regular teachers but he will not be supported as his IEP dictates because children with more severe disabilities will be priority (as they should be). 2. Transfer him to a school that has a full SpEd program but costs $10,000 a year (we can swing it although it will hurt), or homeschool… although I work from home and he is smarter than me so I’m not sure if we will kill each other in the process although during 2020 he did very well doing his at home iPad learning. And I know his needs will be met.
He is a very complex kid who is so smart and kind, but he has hurdles I’m not sure I’m qualified to handle but I need to do more research on homeschooling.
Any ideas from you guys would be greatly appreciated. I honestly just want the best for him. ♥️

2024.05.16 15:22 paffnpuff9354 DITO Sim/Wifi Router

Hello! A newbie on using this "DITO" Simcard and don't know much of its ups and downs, Also new to these ZTE wifi router things, Just want to ask for informations regarding this matters.
"DITO Simcard" : its been two days since my first usage of these, and thankfully it has or the only sim that has signal on our area(pretty secluded and lots of trees), and its 4g(its good but not too stable) [70~150 pings on online games] and {2~6mpbs download but its not constant, don't really mind it}. So what i want to ask 'bout this is, :the promos that has "Highspeed Data" on it, does it differ on what my "new user free data"that i'm currently using? what are pros and cons of these promos and how they differ from each other[ I know there is the YT but they're really not enough infos 'bout these]
"ZTE Wifi Routers" : classmate suggested getting these type of router if I ever plan one, but should be sure that i have decent to best signals in our house, so minding that my "DITO sim" has? I'm thinking of getting one[ZTE Routers]
: How does these things work? Do they need a simcard inserted to them? Is there a specific router for something?[I saw a "Converge Router" in my mates house] / Is there a router dedicated for "DITO"?
Also asking if these ZTE routers has similar network speed to simcard? Like for example if my simcard has 2 bars of signal in our area, thus using a ZTE Wifi Router, it has stronger signal than the sim?
Sorry for the essay like post, just a curious farm college student whose just really starting to mess with internet and technical stuff, Hoping the kind and pros out there to help me on this matter! Peace!

2024.05.16 15:04 idk_orknow SUSPECT OVERVIEW (2x03 update)

Suspect #1: ROSE WATERS

Season 1: Mental break at the Sinner's school taking a knife. Has been discharged from Radley. Very religious. Had two kids Archie and Angela.
Season 2: It's now confirmed that she was the person Davie saw at the soup kitchen!! So last seen actually kinda sane getting food. But with a run in with Davie that could trigger anything. Imogen and Davie left in a hurry after. First, second, and third victim were horny teenagers. Rose Waters would slut shame Angela.
Pros- religious and uses knife like Bloody Rose. Producers keep saying it's her and we already know which is so different for tv. Also she slut shames just like Bloody Rose's targets.
Cons- was sane in her last scene. Seems a little old to be Bloody Rose. No motive to start killing horn dogs now. Body doesn't match imo. If her face really was skinned, she sounds have died...?

Suspect #2: MS. BEASLEY

Season 1: Very religious. Wailing exactly like Rose Waters. Mentally unwell, submissive prior, possibly on meds prior. Knew Sheriff Beasley rapped Angela Waters. Eventually takes things into her own hands and stabs Sheriff Beasley repetitively when he threatened Kelly. Knife holding similar to Bloody Rose.
Season 2: religious gets another step connecting it to why Kelly is a born again virgin, as her mom's idea. Interesting since Bloody Rose's first three kills were all nonvirgins. Now sane seemingly. More mentally well than before the show even started tbh. Even more religious, wants to "save all that is worthy". Double standard with the virgin stuff bc she knew Tom was a rapist.
Pros- religious and uses knife like Bloody Rose. Wants her daughter to be a virgin, just like Bloody Rose kills those who aren't. Has motive to start now since she had hella trauma, killed her husband and lost her daughter. Been in every episode.
Cons- looks pretty normal. Mentally seems better than before. Unless that's because she is killing...

Suspect #3: DR. SULLIVAN

OG PLL: has son, Mona blackmailed her regarding him or smth to prevent her from telling the og Liars that Mona was A. Gave shitty advice like telling the girls to stay apart.
Season 2: she was a punk when she was in high school. Still gives crappy counseling imo. Uber involved in the girls and their family's lives. Is Imogen's bad reaction a side effect or a suspicious prescription?
Pros- her entrance is sus to some people. Actress said eventually she has alterer motives. We never got closure on what Mona had on her. She was a bad kid in highschool... like the sinners? Been in every episode. ~ some theorize Johnny is her son! Who's familiar with Rosewood...?
Cons- never had a psychotic break. Encouraged the girls to have hookups but Bloody Rose is killing those who hook up. No stabbing parallels the others. Too tall. Yeah she's really tall right? I don't think Blood Rose is.
Personally, based off the interview, I think she has a past in Millwood and knew the sinners with her punk history, but I don't see her as Bloody Rose. Def hiding smth, but not that.

Suspect #4: CHIP'S MOM

Season 1: seemly truly nice, knows Tabby well. Skinny neck like Bloody Rose!! Has the body for it.
Season 2: PISSED at the girls and mostly Tabby for defacing Chip's name. Mentally unwell? Thinks the Liars are liars.
Pros- hates the Liars. Perfect body for it!! Good timing to start.
Cons- hates the Liars, Bloody Rose is targeting people acting on sexual urges. Not the Liars yet. Also was not at all in 2x03.

Bonus mentions!

Shawn's Mom: doesn't like Noa and Shawn hooking up. Screentime for her seems random since Noa is getting with Jen anyway. If it was her though you'd think she'd of just killed Noa by now.
Kelly: I mean if she is even Kelly? She can still be Karen!!
Lola: does she know something? She was the first person we know to actually see Bloody Rose (and live). Yet doesn't remember anything the next morning?? Doesn't even recognize Ash?? Then proceeds to take Mouse to a creepy place the next episode! Hm you can remember that??
Jen: as one if you suggested!! Interesting time to join the show, suspicious, no? No new characters can be trusted! She asking too many questions too.
A Secret Twin: who doesn't love a good twin theory!

2024.05.16 15:02 Shoddy_Raccoon_1697 [Routine Help] Fading (semi) permanent acne spots

Hi everyone,
I've been dealing with persistent acne spots for over 1.5 years. I recently learned that my past skincare routine (using benzoyl peroxide and adapalene without sunscreen, minimal moisturizer, and frequent salicylic acid cleanser) likely caused this issue. Now, I'm looking for advice to fade these spots and avoid further mistakes.
More specifically, my main question is help with developing a new routine.
Background Info:
Product Recommendations: The clinic suggested the following products:
Questions About These Products:
  1. Pros and cons of the recommended SPF versus my current one (Biodermal SPF 50)?
  2. How does the recommended cream compare to my current Cerave moisturizer?
  3. Differences between the recommended retinol serum and my current Cerave retinol serum?
  4. Comparison of the AHA foamer to alternatives like The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner or Paula’s Choice AHA Lotion?
Additional Ingredients I Found That Might Be Useful:
Key Ingredients From Clinic Products And Online Info: BHA, AHA, SPF 50, Niacinamide, Hyaluronic acid, Ceramides, Vitamin C, Retinol, Azelaic Acid, Licorice extract
Questions:
  1. How can I combine these ingredients into an effective morning and evening routine with as little different products as possible ? And should I even aim for all ingredients included?
  2. What’s the minimum time between steps and the best application method?
  3. Are there any other ingredients I should consider (e.g., Vitamin E, Peptides, Allantoin, Zinc, Copper)?
Thanks for reading! Any advice is much appreciated to help me develop a long-term routine.
TL;DR:
I've had persistent acne spots for over 1.5 years due to a poor skincare routine. I'm looking for advice on developing a new routine to fade these spots.
P.S. A skincare clinic also recommended chemical peels and microneedling, which I'm considering.
Microneedling Questions:
  1. Can microneedling treatments be done before or during summer if I use sunscreen daily?
  2. How urgent is it to treat these spots to prevent them from becoming more permanent?

2024.05.16 14:52 DiamLennis Should I consider buying 2019 Hyundai Sonata 14K miles with a rebuilt salvage title. $12,500. Told “basically brand new” (No pictures or full details yet. Will update post after)

I am in the unfortunate situation that I need to buy a car in the next two weeks in Columbus, OH before I move back to Indianapolis, IN. My friends dad owns a body repair shop with over 20 years of experience and said he has a guy offering the vehicle above. What are your thoughts? Mine are below:
Pros: - Only 14k miles for $12,500 - I would be very interested if salvage was due to theft - Both parents drive Hyundai (2018+ Sonata and Elantra) so we enjoy the rides and have “some” knowledge mechanically if Hyundai’s.
Cons: - More skeptical if salvage is due to accident. Why would they “total” a new car with 14k miles? To what extent was the damage? - Buying a car for $12,500 then struggling to get insurance doesn’t sit right with me. Does anyone know a company that will insure physical damage and liability for rebuilts? Not a dealbreaker though.
Otherwise, does anyone have any opinions on cars to look for? The struggle of shopping autotempest and Facebook marketplace has been real. Almost to the point of wanting to buy new but I know that is just because of impatience and wanting the “new technology” which I know I don’t value that much. This is another pro for this car, avoiding buying a new car. Thanks!

2024.05.16 14:45 PharmIVGuy To rent or to sell, that is the question…

I have a 3/2.5 house that I’m paying $2k per month at a 2.7% interest rate. The house was built in 2016 with everything pretty well maintained. I have about $70k in equity and the average rate for comparable rentals in the area is $2700-2800. I’m moving into a bigger house about 3 hours away and while the new mortgage is about twice what I pay now, I’m fortunate enough that it isn’t an overwhelming financial burden with my total family income. Even with a few months of vacancy, we wouldn’t be THAT stressed.
This part might be controversial: I also have a friend who would be willing to coordinate maintenance and be a “property manager.” He has his own rental property in the area and manages it himself. Roof/exterior are completely covered by HOA, and the HVAC is maintained every 6-12 months under a contract.
Should I just sell and take the equity or go through the rental process? We have someone who is trusted to vet any tenants thoroughly, but I’m still nervous about doing all of this… I’m back and forth with pros and cons here.

2024.05.16 14:41 FarRadenJa What if the Jura Tempest Federation (Rimuru's nation in Tensura) was summoned?

What if the Jura Tempest Federation (Rimuru's nation in Tensura) was summoned?
This is late for me, so I'll not be going into much detail. But for those of you who doesn't know Tensura, here's some details about our Resident Slime's nation:
PROS: - lots of firepower (in the forms of Rimuru and his subordinates' magical abilities). - Absolute loyalty to Rimuru (less risk of chaos as a result of being summoned). - etc (think of it yourself I am sleepy) - Is self sufficient, at least for a moment (Rimuru prides himself in production and trade).
CONS: - Is a land locked country (no warships, not even boats. They never bothered to build one since the world of Tensura only has one large continent). - lack of resources for mass production of more niche magical instruments (due to being cut off from other nations specializing in building them, possibly not a long term problem but still). - Rimuru's approach to wars and violence (due to Tempest's generally superior magic, wars and any kind of violence using 'modern' technology will just be overwhelmed by them).
For all Tensura fans, how would you think Tempest would approach diplomacy in Elysia? For all Nihonkoku Shoukan fans, how would residents of Elysia react seeing magic that is overwhelmingly powerful than their technologies?
Have a nice discussion, and good night/day/whatever time it is!

2024.05.16 14:40 Firm_Caramel1692 How do you choose between work/career options as an indesicive person?

I am naturally a very indecisive person and I find myself in a bit of a situation now regarding my work options. Sorry this is long.
For a bit of a backstory, I (32F - living in a small tropical island)) have been working for a nearly 10 years now. I worked at Company A and it was great. I left after 6 years as they would not raise me. Joined Company B and it was a shitshow; i dealt with a lot of racism towards me and it ruined my self-esteem as a person and a designer for a long time. After a year, i went to Company C, thinking it was my big break as I would be a manager. Somehow, they ended up changing the scope of works without letting me know and expected me to go into Sales. I left and decided to start my own company and work freelance, which i was doing on an off while working full-time.
However, I had applied randomly for another job at Company D and they ended up making me an offer. I took it because it was one of the best and established companies here on the island and I needed to regain a bit of my designer confidence back. It was hustle culture as soon as i joined; no handing over of 4 main projects that i was expected to take over. I did it through migraines, tears, lots of unpaid overtime and stress. My mistake here was maybe not be vocal enough about how i was struggling.. As you can guess, my health suffered and I decided to resign from the job before i completed a full year although i loved the work itself and the experience was extremely valuable. Surprisingly, during my three months notice as per contract, i felt like i could handle the workload and stress much better and it made me rethink my decision.
Ultimately, I decided to leave nonetheless and was lucky to have 2 clients for whom i am working on a freelance basis currently. Now here am i, a month after having quit, working slowly as a freelancer. But, another Company E, contacted me since they have been wanting to work with me for a while now. My friend worked there for 5 years. He is also okay with me working part time at his but was very hot and cold during our conversations since February. My friend told me not to trust him but use him to my gain. So now i have the following options:
OPTION 1
Company D
Cons: I had a fling with a consultant from another firm who works on the same projects i was working on right after I left the job. I would see him only during client meetings and that's all, he doesn;t work in the office. We had been texting and met up one night and made out but did not fuck. He has been ghosting me ever since (yikes - I know, don't shit where you eat, but it happened for the first time ever in my life - a lesson). I am not attached or whatever but is this something to consider? Lots of work. High stress. Director is a bit moody sometimes.
Pros: Established firm since 25 years, high-end clients, great work experience, great colleagues. Having it on my Cv has already opened my networking.
OPTION 2
Company E
Cons: The director pushed his 5 years employee to quit within 2 months (3 disciplinary meetings during that time which put a lot of pressure on the girl from what i heard). When she gave her month notice, he asked her to leave right away He had been wanting her to leave for a while but did not want to fire her so that he did not have to her severance, so he did everything he could so she would leave on her own. He told me at one point that if for any reason i could not join his company in June (because he cannot control things), he was sure I would have a place somewhere else or back at Company D. He has rescheduled our meeting to discuss work conditions twice now. He wanted me to start earlier than June now that he is down 1 staff and has too much to do, without us having discussed conditions. I said no and we are supposed to meet tomorrow afternoon to discuss conditions.
Pros: His company is 10 years old and he says he is ready to take it to the next level. I would be his right hand a bit to help him grow his business. Smaller company, less projects, projects are not so high-end so less time consuming, less stress overall.
OPTION 3
Pay and commute are basically the same for both. I wanted to have a part time job while I establish myself as a freelancer so i could have a steady income every month. My goal, although I am still not sure if i really want this, is to have my own company doing my own projects. But i don't know whether i actually like it or if I ma doing it just because i feel like it is the natural next step in my career at this point. I like having a routine and structure, which makes me think i like being employed too.
So I don't really know at this point. I have been thinking and thinking and thinking and I come up blank. I want to do it all and I don't want to do anything. So please, anyone if you can help, let me know your thoughts and advice!

2024.05.16 14:36 rishianand Economic Inequality In India: A Discussion with Professor Arun Kumar May 19, 2024, 6:30 PM

IndianSocialists is organizing a series of weekly video conferences titled “Dialogues on Socialism”, addressed by prominent activists and intellectuals of India. The objective of these lectures is to develop a socialist understanding in the Indian context and build an ideological resistance against fascism.
The first conference was held on the issue of “Violence against Women in India”. It was addressed by Professor Roop Rekha Verma. Watch the lecture here. Violence Against Women In India A Discussion with Professor Roop Rekha Verma
The second conference will be held on the issue of “Economic Inequality in India” on May 19, 2024 at 6:30 PM. It will be addressed by Prof Arun Kumar. The conference will be held on Zoom. PM me for an invitation. You can ask your questions here too. The recorded video will be shared after the conference.
Economic inequality in India has reached a historic high. A recent report by the World Inequality Database has revealed that the wealth inequality in India has become worse than the British Raj. The top 1% of the population owns over 40% of the nation's wealth, while the bottom 50% owns less than 7%. Over the last ten years, the number of billionaires in India has more than tripled, while their wealth as a proportion of national income has increased by 2.5 times. The bulk of this increase came when the nation was reeling under the COVID-pandemic and the economic downturn. India is one of the most unequal countries in the world. WiD report has termed the prevailing situation in India as “Billionaire Raj”.
In 2019, the Modi Government slashed the corporation taxes from 30% to 22%. The share of corporate taxes as a percentage of GDP has declined, while the share of indirect taxes, including GST and fuel taxes, has increased. With a regressive taxation policy, the Government has shifted the burden of taxes from the rich to the poor.
Yet, this economic boom for the rich has failed to “trickle-down” to the masses. The Billionaire Raj has been marked by growing joblessness and exploitation of the working classes.
At the same time, the household savings have fallen to a five-decade low, while household debt has reached its highest level. Hunger and malnutrition has pushed the country to 111th place out of 125 countries in the Global Hunger Index, with three-quarters of the population unable to afford a balanced-diet.
The Billionaire Raj and the rising economic inequality in India has led to a concentration of power in the hands of a few, and now threatens the democracy itself. It is also a betrayal of the promise of economic justice enshrined in the Preamble of the Constitution of India.
Meanwhile, the ruling party has tried to paint the demand for economic justice in communal colours. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President JP Nadda have tried to mislead the public by terming the demand for economic equality and wealth and inheritance tax on the rich as Maoism.
Prof Arun Kumar retired as the Sukhamoy Chakravarty Chair Professor in the Centre for Economic Studies and Planning, Jawaharlal Nehru University. He is the author of “Indian Economy Since Independence: Persisting Colonial Disruption”, “Indian Economy's Greatest Crisis: Impact of Coronavirus and the Road Ahead”, “Ground Scorching Tax”. He prepared the report of People's Commission on Employment and Unemployment, titled “Right to Work: Feasible and Indispensable for India to be a truly Civilized and Democratic Nation”.

2024.05.16 14:32 purinz_ help my friend decide where to go to college

I have a good friend who had committed to Drew University for molecular biology/biochem and she plans to have a career in pharmacy. She was also planning on swimming d3 at the school. She was originally waitlisted at Rutgers Pharmacy and that's when she decided to attend Drew, but a few days ago she got accepted off of the Pharm waitlist. She's been trying to decide between Drew and Rutgers Pharm. Everyone is telling her that pharm would be the better choice for her career but she still wants more opinions. Can someone please comment pros and cons of both schools to help her decide?

2024.05.16 14:29 an-idiot-called-jake Advice for investing before moving to Australia

Hi guys, looking for some advice on whether to invest in the UK or wait until I move to Australia and invest in equities/funds there.
I'm 26, looking to invest for the first time as I'm receiving some money from grandparents - unknown amount at present, but the estimate combined with my current available savings would be around £25,000 to invest. I already have around £3.5k in a help-to-buy ISA with Barclays.
Having done some reading I'm looking to do a 50/50 split between equities/bonds. Issue is I'm planning to move to Australia in 2 months for 3-5 years - are there any pros/cons to investing in the UK before I leave (e.g. not being able to contrinute more to my ISA), or should I wait to invest when living in Australia? Another note is that, long-term, I expect to live in the UK, from the age of about 25 onwards.
Many thanks for any responses!
