2024.05.17 07:17 Gingerbeardman29 Adventure Rig Setup and Efficiency Test

Adventure Rig Setup and Efficiency Test
I'm Rivian's target customer. I've wanted to put together the ultimate camping setup that can do some offroading, get to remote campsites, and bring bikes for day rides. I've got a DMP AT Max build, an iKamper Skycamp Mini 3 on top of the bed, and a Kuat swing out hitch and Piston Pro X. The wife and I recently took a 5 day trip out to Moab from the Front Range, 940 miles, high mountain passes, 75-80mph on the freeway west of Vail, light Moab offroading, camping, cooking with the truck outlets, driving into town for a few meals, and driving to some trailheads. I wasn't trying to hypermile, just get an efficiency baseline for the setup. Round trip, I used 500kW, 1.88m/kWh on average. I was getting roughly 1.6m/kWh at 80mph in rolling hills, 1m/kWh climbing mountain passes, as low as 0.6m/kWh offroading climbing loose hills, and of course, maxed out the 4.01m/kWh heading down mountain passes. EA chargers in Edwards, RAN in Grand Junction, and the Tesla Magic Docks in Moab all worked without issue. Range was never an issue. I used 13-15% from Moab up to the Dead Horse area depending on the route, and 4% back to town. Charging at the Magic Docks, taking the bikes into town, eating dinner, and riding back was perfect for a nearly full charge. Edwards back to the Front Range used 35% ish of the battery. I haven't done this trip with a naked truck to compare to, but there are a few things I want to try to improve efficiency. 1. Ferrings on the bike rack over the bike tires for smoother air flow 2. Cover the the spoiler vents over the cab so air isn't being shoved directly into the RTT. 3. Maybe some sort of ferring over the top of the bikes. I'll take suggestions.
Offroading, even the dual motor is WAY more capable than any other vehicle I've owned. Very stoked. Electric grittle, kettle worked great off the bed plugs. Still need a camp kitchen setup. The auto level at camp is such a great feature. Maybe I've gone soft, but a flat sleeping surface is a nice luxury.
Despite the overall efficiency for this trip, I love the truck even more than before the trip. Could easily fit 4 people with all the space this truck has... with a hitch rack extension.
One complaint, Driver +, adaptive cruise control, was not available with my hitch rack. I did have accessory mode on, maybe I should try it without.
This truck is rad. Check out the pics.

2024.05.17 05:15 Elegant_Release9004 One Month Review of Playa Flamingo and Potrero

We are just wrapping up a month (April 19th to May 18th) in Playa Flamingo. We had a great time, and did less than 10% of what we had bookmarked before arriving, but that’s a good thing and just enjoyed a Pura Vida life for a few weeks. This experience is applicable if you’re staying in Brasilito, Conchal, Flamingo, or Potrero.
I hope it helps! Have a great trip!

2024.05.17 02:52 Funonaship Vacation Budget

This isn’t really a YNAB focused question, but I figured since many of us are budget nerds, maybe you guys could help.
We’ve been using YNAB for years. YNAB helped us truly know our money and we were able to pay off our house in 2022. We have no debt. This is all thanks to YNAB keeping us aware of our spending so when my income increased by 35% over the course of 3 years and my husband‘s increased 25%, we kept increasing our retirement funding. We are on track to contribute $30,000 to each of our Roth 457s at our jobs and also we each should max out Roth IRAs.
We are planning a big cruise out of Puerto Rico in 2025, we also plan to stay two days in PR prior to the cruise, and there are no sea days so there will be daily excursion costs. Our projected budget for this trip would be about $3000 more than our usual budget (4 people). Total cost would be 13% of our take home pay. Sometimes I feel guilty about spending this much and other times I say why not, we can afford it. We rarely eat out or go to the movies. So far this year, we’ve only spent $50 on restaurant dinners and haven’t been to a movie in over a year. The question is what is a rule of thumb for vacation spending, such as a dollar amount or a percentage?

2024.05.17 00:35 FallAspenLeaves Anniversary…..thinking of a Spirit cruise, questions?

Hi all. So we are thinking of taking a Portland Spirit cruise, we have never done it before.
Is lunchtime or dinner better? I read that the food isn’t very good, they have a cheaper option for cruising only, no meal. But is that kind of awkward, everyone is eating and you are sitting there with nothing? LOL
Also, what about parking…..is it a pain? Would taking Uber be a better option?
Thanks!

2024.05.17 00:31 Clear-Muffin-3000 Galveston car rental return and Uber

I will be departing Galveston later this year, travelling with a group of 6, including some with mobility issues.
We are arriving at Bush International and renting an SUV with Enterprise for several days before the cruise. We will probably stay in Galveston or Webster for a few nights before the cruise and tour around.
Day of cruise the plan is that I will drop the group off with our luggage at the cruise terminal. I'll then return the vehicle to the Enterprise location in Galveston and then Uber or taxi back to the terminal and reconnect with them and board the cruise as a group.
I've never been to Galveston before and I'm not sure if this plan would work. I've heard stories of Ubers refusing local rides like that or lack of Uber or taxis the morning of cruise departures.
So I guess the question is how difficult is it to find an Uber or taxi in Galveston on a cruise departure day? And how expensive would this trip be from the rental location to terminal (looks to be a few miles).

2024.05.17 00:18 Fine_Anteater_8599 Westerdam Dining

Hello again,
We booked the pinnacle suite on Westerdam for an Alaskan cruise.
At this point we booked the 8:00 pm dinner seating. Do we have to eat at 8:00 every night? If so, will be able to watch the show?
We also have one “free” dinner at a paid restaurant. Which dinner is best?
Also, how is the room service menu? Because we have a dining room in the suite, I’d love to use it.
Also any tips on ensuring an easy dining experience? I want to eat fish and lots of desserts!
Thank you!

2024.05.16 23:51 No-Drink5853 what is there to do in St Louis in February for your 21st birthday?

what is there to do in St Louis in February for your 21st birthday?

I am turning 21 next year and live about 30 minutes out from the city (St Louis) just down 55. I was looking into things early as I have a very big family and want to do something that has all of them present. I was looking into maybe doing the skyline riverboat dinner cruise offered by the Gateway Arch and found out they only offer dates from march to December. because my birthday is in February and in almost the peak/ tail end of winter it would have to be an inside thing. I just wanted to come onto here and see if anyone from around the area had/have any ideas or advice for me. I'm not one to do big stuff for my birthday it's always been just a dinner with my family and friends. but because 21 is such a big birthday I wanted to do something a little bigger this time around. any small ideas help, thank you. it doesn't have to be in STL but anywhere in the surrounding areas could work too.
