Keep in mind, this is primarily from 2022, just touches on some 2020/21 and current date. Ages not shared bc idk if I want to share them yet (with exceptions) Also, this is an Alt acc since much of my family has reddit I, currently 15, at the time 12, used to have a VERY strong relationship with my grandma. We hung out as if we were BFF's and our emotional connection was very strong. This was mostly because my mom and step mom was busy a lot, and I only go to my dads house every once in a while. To give some background, 2020 to 2021 my parents and just family in general wasnt doing the best. We had 2 family members, including my grandpa pass away, 1 pet pass away, my parents were having issues due to one thinking the other was cheating (Idk all details and not my thing to share, relationship still stands today without that relationship issue sooo), my grandma broke her back, and probably more things I dont remember. Anyways, this takes place after my grandma's recovery, grandpa's celebration of life, a bunch of legal stuff, etc. In the start of 2022, my parents were still having relationship issues, very badly. So much to the point that my mom talked to me about what would happen if my step mom decided to leave. I have an open relationship with my step mom and mom, and my step mom has been apart of most my life so she would likely not just leave entirely, but obviously things would change. During this time though, my brother was lying a bunch. Every child has a point they lie a lot and need to be gone senseless so they stop, I jusy had mine at a Muuuuch younger age so it was quicker and less important stuff. In this case my brother stole a very important heirloom from my grandma that used to be my grandpas. He lied a lot about it from where he got it, to what it was. Now, why is this important? Some of the responses that was given by my parents, this includes my mom, step mom, and dad of things like: my brother will be sent to Juvy, or threatening putting up for adoption, or calling police for theft because the item was REALLY expensive. Now I think that was overboard even now looking at it. Like the way they said it, you could tell they were just trying to get into my brothers head to not lie, but still, that wasn't morally ok with me then or now. Also, not like they didn't get the item back-. See, this actually made me want to have time away from the house, so I asked to spend to night with my grandma like I had many times before. Just me, not my brother. While there, I told her what they had said, and even things they had done to me, with to this day i still believe to be mentally abusive, such as calling me things like idiot, stupid, cursing at me about things, yelling about petty things (no joke, they have yelled because there was a single drop of syrup infront of the microwave on the floor not picked up), and more. A lot was without context though or downplaying what I did to make them mad. Note: my parents do realize things here or there and does apologize, and they mean my actions were stupid or idiotic, but doesn't mean they say it at that moment, they correct it later and sometimes dont correct it. Now a bit more context: when I was a very young kid, the main 3 punishments I got was either Standing in the corner for often hours, standards (writing the same line again and again for blank amoumt kf pages), or spankings (belt or hand to the butt). Now, that sounds bad, especially the spankings, but keep in mind that one parent came from mentally abusing parents, the other came from an abusive family for the most part, and both were grown up being given spankings. They RARELY give spankings, and for that now, I have to royally piss them off. Anyways, those punishments seem to have actually gave me an automatic reaction to freeze when either parent is yelling at me, (trauma, were literally meaning 3 forms of punishment that hurt for at the time about a decade, now over a decade) so I tend to not argue back. Anyways, to the point, I told my grandma about these punishments too. When I said this all, I asked my grandma to not share it with anyone. Now obviously that didn't happen given that mental abuse isn't ok to any of our family (my parents didnt quite understand that's mental abuse as they had ok'ed it in there mind beforehand with anger) The issue is she waited till my birthday. See my step mom at the time is the main person I mentioned to my grandma since she and I at the time had a smaller relationship than with my mom since she generally gives punishments and I didnt notice my mom had just as much to do with my punishments as she did. It painted my step mom as a bad guy and my grandma wanted to do something. So on my birthday, she decided to yell at my step mom (my grandma definitely had a thing to drink that day btw, she was an alcoholic. Also, my step mom rarely sees my grandma, then or now) about how she was treating me. My dad escorted me, my brother, my friend, and any other children in the house to the front porch and gave us a thing to do. I obviously decided to listen in a bit, but best thing I know is my grandma said stuff in a REALLY bad way. Now, this point of the story, I would say me being an AH is iffy. My issue is even to this day, this one event, along with how my grandma treated my mom growing up a little, and how my grandma defines love as; "you dont love me if you dont help me work on things" (to put simple, my grandma is a functioning alcoholic, and a narcissist) has basically ruined my mom and step moms relationship with my grandma. My grandma actually recently went to the hospital due to falling on the blacktop of her street and I cant help but feel my mom not going to the hospital and staying home is my fault. (Its serious enough she is having surgery) My mom did still go out and help her get stuff to go to the hospital, but then came back, and when she got back my step mom said she was proud of my mom for now feeling the need to stay. I know there is more to the story that I don't know but the previous time when she broke her back, before I mentioned things to my grandma, that once it got to my parents made them purposefully distance themselfs, me, and my brother from our grandma, mom literally stayed for a few nights, she even had my grandma move in to our house till she recovered. Yet now she doesn't even go up to the hospital for any reason other than my great grandma wants to go and see her. If you want more details as I probably forgot some, please ask. I will likely do follow ups and more stuff as this is only one piece of issues in my family. But I still want to know positive, negative, and neutral reply's. AITA

Having run a community where people build cool tech products from scratch in a few weeks, an interesting insight has come to light. Surprisingly most of the people who apply are developers who cite the following frustrations:
They never get to know why they are building what they are building.
They don't really understand the impact of what they're building.
They never grasp what problem the solution is meant to solve.
They have no idea who the users are.
They're working on a very small part of a big project.
They never think beyond coding logic.
Surprisingly, they find our cohort's approach appealing because they get to think of ideas, validate them, actually talk to potential users, and see people using what they build. Do other developers care about this as well And most importantly do companies really not care about developer's broader involvement? I understand that this might be the requirement, but maybe companies could hold workshops where devs get out of their typical roles, see things from a bigger perspective, do problem-solving, build something completely from scratch, and understand the product side of things too.

A little of my background info relevant to my question: I am a fairly recent revert, I’m slowly but surely learning to recite. I am also a classically trained singer and have sung semi-professionally in the past. If I am not mistaken, it’s not permissible for a woman to recite in front of non-mahram… is that correct? If it is true, that it’s NOT permissible, how does that work with social media? But if you need it, there's an inbuilt infrared illuminator that can deliver an impressive performance - bright enough to light up the darkest forest, but not visible to the naked eye. The diopter adjustment is simple and intuitive to use, and the focus range is adequate for a variety of distances, even under low light conditions. Additionally, the built-in LED indicators are a great added touch to keep track of the battery life and infrared status. Hi, I'm confused by the work-flow when trying to change a password to an account whilst using the Bitwarden browser extension. I've read that it's ill-advised to copy the password generated by Bitwarden and to auto-fill it instead but how do I auto-fill it when it's a password that's just been generated? I know the auto-fill function works for logging in purposes once a password has already been created and saved to a specific account but I'm not sure how it works on a freshly generated password when I want to change a password to a specific account. How can I auto-fill when the generated password hasn't yet been added and saved to that specific account? For example I go to gmail .com and decide I want to change my password so I go to the section of the website that allows me to do that and I input my old password. Then I think let's generate a strong random password using the password generator within the Bitwarden extension so I open the extension and go to the generate password function. I'm happy it looks like a nice strong password but then how do I get it from the browser extension into the field on the gmail website that says new password without copying it? Do I have to manually type it in on the gmail website? That doesn't seem right because it's a long jumbled password that would be tedious to copy across manually. I don't want to have to do that for every account when I want to change my password so other than copying/pasting which is ill-advised what options do I have? I want to buy a new 2024 Prius (they look beautiful) but it doesn't work with the comma 3 and now I am forced to search through Carmax for a 2022 Prius that can work with comma 3. Hi there, I was advised to ask over here. In the building where I stay, the power transformer is faulty so the whole building is out of power since last Friday around 7pm till now. Due to the long weekend they couldn't get the parts ordered/replaced, also they haven't informed what exatcly happened I was just lucky to meet an electrician that was working on the building and he told me what happened. My question is, is there anything that the building managers/body corporation should do for us? Such as: ice supply or temporary power generators? It's been more than 3 days, no further notices, nobody ever asked if we need anything. Is there any legal thing we could do? My food is about to expire, and how about those who are away? I do not know who else to talk to so I’ve come to you reddit. Roughly a year ago I graduated from police academy and started my first employment in Scottsdale, AZ. I stayed there for about 6 months and then I was transferred to a station in Pima County, where I has practically the same hours as my previous station. About a week ago is was moved to night shift witch wasn’t too hard to adjust to because I live alone. Most of the time I was parked outside of a waste management facility running plates and doing the occasional speeding ticket. I never really talk to anyone much at the station, I like to clock in get my hours in and go home. One night I was requested to aid in a car-chase, I was pretty stoked because this had never happened before and felt like I was in an action scene from one in 60 seconds. When I went home later that day I found 2 gunshot wounds to my sternum. I was very confused because I did not feel any injury at all. I must have had too much to drink before work because I kept seeing really weird things that I still can’t quite put together and no cars on the road. But as soon as I go home I’m just fine. It’s almost as if I leave a part of me behind every time I clock in and pick up a new one. Now every time I leave for work and go to my usual station, alone made you, about halfway through my workday, suddenly I have a partner in my passenger seat. Ive never seen this guy at the office and now he is just randomly cracking jokes in my car. His name tag said Erik Hite, I know that name from somewhere but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Same thing happened every day I went into work, you get used to it after awhile. One distinct feature I connect to him is he is not up to date on most things. He said that he was exited for the release of Iron Man 2 which confused and put me off quite a bit. I asked around at the office if anyone has seen him around before and all of them ignored me and not even acknowledge me, I don’t know if this is some kind of prank or something and if it is its not a good one. The next day when I went into work I noticed he too, had apparent gunshot wounds. When I asked him about them he was confused at the question and said “what do you mean gunshot wounds? I’m as healthy as I’ve ever been!” I knew that he wasn’t messing with me by the way that he said it. Is he in the same situation as I am but just doesn’t realize the gunshot wounds? Or is he in denial of the whole situation? Earlier this month is got in contact with someone who claimed to be the wife of Erik, Nohemy Hite. I started talking with her over Facebook about her husband, one thing that really weirded me out was that she always used past tense while talking about her husband. Hey, I'm a man (26) and my girlfriend (25) recently broke up with me about a day ago. The jist of it was that she felt that we were different people and I was only doing things because she wanted me to, I didn't do them automatically. She felt that her priority in life was being very out going and social. I can be extremely extroverted but it takes time for me warm up to people. I am not against that at all and don't mind doing it, but the issue from her perspective is that it's only a priority because of her, it wasn't a priority of mine originally. Because of that, she feels like she's changing me and we aren't compatible. I tell her it's no sweat off my brow but she says its a lot which makes no sense; only i can decide what's too much for me to compromise, not her. Church. We're both Christian but thanks to my job the last two years or so I haven't gone to church since I can never get Sundays off and I started to just get used to it. She did not mention this til we started getting into the breakup phase but this is another priority in her life that she wants her man to also share. I went with her a few times but the church service and everyone there primarily only speaks Japanese which I can't speak so I felt awkward going. She offered going to a whole different church but she's been there for two years and i didn't want to just uproot her from her community, ya know? Anyway, just like before, the issue is that church is only a priority because I'm prioritizing her and trying to make her happy, it simply just doesn't come natural One last thing is I was thinking about buying a house very soon but she said she wants to move around a bit a travel and that means our life goals are so different and we aren't compatible. I say that's fine, I can hold off a bit and probably save more and get something better or just keep the money for something else. This sounded like I was simply shaping my life around her and that's not a good thing to her. We're still young and I feel I can be flexible about buying a house. I guess not... She is not a good communicator and did not lay out all of these things I was doing wrong until about a few weeks ago as the break up was ramping up and we both finally exploded on each other for not understanding the expectations we had in mind for each other. I then tell her that we now know the issues and we can work on it: I will be more active in making sure I'm more social and willing to tag along in her social activities and we can go to a new church or her current one. All she needs to do is just let me, she has to do very little. She tells me no and it's too late now. I had two years to catch on to this and I'm only doing this because she wants to, not because it's something I naturally do. So all in all, she feels she's changing me because of how flexible I am with compromising and matching her priorities when she thinks they aren't mine originally. I don't think priorities are that black and white but she does apparently. Things can and will change as time goes on. Probably because I'm just a man, I don't know, but I thought it was a very good thing to have a partner who is extremely willing to see if they can coincide with your priorities and life and try to find compromises. She thinks the fact i have to compromise is bad and I should find someone who will love me for who i am. We finally communicated after all this time and found steps to work things out. We agreed, her friend spent a few days at her house and 3 days later she says she changed her mind and wants to break up. She suddenly thinks our solution will only prolong the inevitable and she wont even budge on trying. We wont know until we try and she suddenly just refuses to try. I'm her first relationship and I feel like she doesn't fully understand what compromise really means and that it does not mean your changing someone when they do, so im trying to convince her to give us another try. Might be for nothing though. Is it not appealing to have a partner who wants to try and compromise some things for you? Or is it better to simply coincide with you because it comes naturally? Is it better for somethings to simply be done and not asked for? I'm wondering what the general consensus on this could be. tl;dr: Gf doesn't like that I don't seem to share the same priorities as her naturally, they've only become priorities because of her influence. Is something like this generally not a good dynamic in relationships??

We've been through several cleaning companies now and quite frankly, they're all rubbish. It's like they don't actually know what 'clean' means. They miss obvious spots, don't know how to clean a shower properly and some refuse to tidy up i.e push chairs in, arrange cushions, empty bins etc. The best lady I had worked for herself and was an older mum. She used her common sense and initiative. Unfortunately, she moved away. I guess being domesticated and knowing how to clean a house is getting lost on younger generations. So here I am, reaching out to Reddit. If anyone knows a good cleaner, please send them my way. Would be more than willing to pay above market average if they can do a good job. Thanks.

My boyfriend and I have been dating for 6 months now. We were friends before and it was good - relaxed, fun, and felt we could share anything with each other. I had just gotten out of a bad relationship when we started dating - it was unhealthy, and when I broke it off he took it badly and hurt me. Sometime after, my friend and I realized we had feelings for each other and decided to go for it. He had a couple of hard and fast boundaries though, which I would learn over time. At first, I used to talk to my guy friends without letting him know each time I was, which upset him. If my guy friends flirted with me, I would brush it off instead of telling them to stop. And because we were long distance, he wanted to be updated on everything, all the time. He wants to know when I was leaving the house, where I was going, what my plans were, who I was with, etc. before I even left. I kind of understand - I don’t live in a very safe place and at first it seemed like he was just concerned about my safety. But it grew to seem like he was suspicious I was hiding something. Now he wants updates on everything I’m doing. When I have doctors appointments, when I talk to my apartment manager (a guy), basically when I do anything. He wants little updates, too, so he can be included in my life. My ex still controls my phone plan (long story) and though I don’t talk to him, I set up an automatic payment each month. My boyfriend became upset that I did this without telling him after we spoke about it and he said I should send it a few days before it’s due so I don’t have to worry about my ex contacting me when it is due. Idk, it feels off to me but I also have PTSD from other stuff in my past and can’t tell if this is normal behavior. He said it’s been the same with his past relationships and that he never even had to ask them to do any of it, they just did. But he’s also been cheated on in all of his past relationships and a lot of his insecurity comes from that. The updates started to stress me out. I’m not used to doing this sort of thing, or maybe I’m not used to someone caring so much (and maybe it’s a good thing he does). So when I do something and forget to update him, I start panicking. I don’t want to hurt or upset him and I don’t want it to lead to a fight. I know how important this is to him and I know he feels like I don’t care about it when I forget. I don’t know how I keep forgetting. When I forgot about the phone thing, he said “it’s okay, it’s only been six months” and I could tell what he meant by that. But he has also adjusted his boundaries for me. He now doesn’t mind if I talk to my guy friends, as long as I let him know when I do (but I haven’t due to the anxiety with it). He knows the updates stress me out and tries to just let it go when I forget. He has given me so much leeway lately, which I’m grateful for, but also feel bad about. I know he hasn’t been very open as much lately because of my reaction. I tend to get overly defensive and try to over explain myself, not coming up with excuses but trying to explain my reasoning instead of just admitting I was wrong and apologizing. I’m working on this as well as calming my emotions in the moment so I don’t overreact. But do you guys think this is problematic behavior? I want a girl’s perspective. My mom and I are estranged and my boyfriend doesn’t like me talking about my relationship to my girl friends, who I’ve barely spoken to anyway and feel bad about just dumping this on them. I also may delete this later as it’s kind of breaking that rule too. I’m going to go visit him tomorrow and want to talk about this stuff but want to make sure I’m not coming from a bad place when I do. Thanks guys. Edit: forgot to mention we got into a fight recently because the top button of my shirt kept popping open at work and was a bit revealing. I told him about it because he would want to know. He was upset I didn’t change my shirt (I realized it was a problem before I left for work but didn’t feel I had time to pick out a whole new outfit) and claimed I did it to get male attention, which is completely out of character. But he doesn’t want to talk about it because I was very hurt and didn’t handle it well.
