Axolotl Tank Size Questions

2024.06.01 06:11 swors0 Axolotl Tank Size Questions

Hey everyone! My future dorm roommate was planning on getting an axolotl for our dorm this fall, it would be considered an emotional support animal because our dorms only allow 5 gal tanks. She got the doctors note and everything but I feel like a 10 gal tank is too small. Ive started researching and some say the minimum is 10 gals others say they need a lot more. I just would like some advice/input as to what to do or if this is even a good idea. The dorm is already a small enough but I dont want a small tank that would make for an unhappy axolotl.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated so I could bring this up to her! Thank you!!

User Interface

I found the user interface at DuckyLuck very easy to use. There are tabs at the top of the page that allow players to quickly switch between sections such as casino games, promotions, and banking.
The game section is also easy to navigate as games are separated into specific sections like slots and table games. You can even conveniently sort games by their popularity and jackpot options.
DuckyLuck prioritizes functionality over showmanship. I did not have any issues using the site, but I did not find it memorable, either. The deeper you go into the site, the harder it is to identify a theme.

DuckyLuck Casino Games

DuckyLuck offers a decent amount of slots games, jackpots, and video poker options. Really the only area that was a bit lacking was the table games section, but the core options were not too bad.
More specifically, there are 433 slot games available, many of which can be played for free. It offers a good selection of video poker and specialty games. There is even a live dealer game section with blackjack, roulette, and baccarat available.
Each game at DuckyLuck has a helpful information section that describes the game. Players can also rate the game and share comments about their playing experience.
One area that DuckyLuck could improve is its table games section. It lacks video baccarat, craps, and other popular games.
Casino Game Providers:
I really enjoyed the fact that DuckyLuck Casino uses a variety of reputable and trusted online casino game providers. Here are some of the big names that this online casino uses to provide its customers with good, quality gaming:
  • Rival Gaming
  • Betsoft Gaming
  • Spinomenal
  • Saucify
  • Arrow’s Edge
  • Fugaso
  • Felix Gaming
  • Tom Horn Gaming
  • Dragon Gaming
  • Fresh Deck Studios
  • Qora Gaming

Slot Games

DuckyLuck had 433 slot games available at the time of my review. I liked that I could sort games by developer, jackpots, and popularity.
There are 39 slot games that feature progressive jackpots. DuckyLuck has slot games from eight different developers including Rival Gaming and BetSoft.

Table Games

DuckyLuck’s table game section only includes nine games. Of those nine games, seven of them are either roulette or blackjack games. Most of the table games available were developed by Rival Gaming.

Video Poker

I found 14 video poker games during my review of DuckyLuck Casino. Games from developer Rival Gaming once again dominate this section.
There single and multi-hand versions of most games. You are even able to test the games in demo modes before committing any money to them.

Specialty Games

I was impressed by DuckyLuck’s selection of specialty games. There are 19 games available in the “Casual Games” section, which is more than you normally see at online casinos. El Royale Casino, for instance, only has three games in its specialty games section.
The selection of games is varied as well. DuckyLuck offers keno, bingo, and Teen Patti. Teen Patti is a three-card poker game that is popular in South Asia. There are also seven different options for scratch cards available.

Live Dealer

One of the few areas of DuckyLuck that you cannot access without an account is the live dealer casino. This area is provided through Fresh Deck studios. At the time of review, there were 14 live tables available, although this may increase during peak hours. Only paid games are available in this part of the site. Betting limits range from as low as $0.50 to as high as $12,500. There are three categories of games including:
  • Roulette
  • Blackjack
  • Baccarat

Mobile Experience

I was able to access DuckyLuck from my Android phone without having to download any software. The site is also accessible from iOS and Windows devices as well. You can access every game, including live dealer options, from your mobile device.
DuckyLuck.ag does not have an app. All you need to do to get started is open the site in your mobile browser with a stable internet connection.
I did not experience many issues when playing from my phone. Some games took longer to load, but that was the only negative I noticed. The rest of the site worked as well on my phone as it did on my computer.

DuckyLuck Bonuses & Promotions

DuckyLuck does not offer much in the way of typical casino bonuses. There is only one welcome bonus option. Other top sites, like Las Atlantis Casino, have multiple welcome offers for new members to choose from.
The bonuses that DuckyLuck does offer are good. Both the welcome bonuses and the cryptocurrency deposit match offer 500% or more in bonus funds. I did not like that the bonuses had 30x and 40x rollover requirements, respectively.
DuckyLuck also has a rewards program. Existing players need to use the rewards program if they want to earn extra rewards. Otherwise, your opportunities to gain extra funds will be few and far between.

500% Welcome Bonus + 150 Free Spins

This is the welcome bonus that is available to all new players. New players must make an initial deposit of at least $25 to be eligible for this bonus.
  • 500% Deposit Match up to $2,500

  • Minimum Deposit:$25

  • Maximum Cashout:10x Deposit

600% Match Bonus: Crypto Payment Methods

Bettors using crypto to make their deposit can get an exclusive bonus. This welcome bonus offers players a higher deposit match percentage. I was disappointed to see that it does not offer players free spins, though.
  • 600% Deposit Match:Preferred Payment Methods, ONLY Deposits
  • Eligible Games:Casino games (No Live Dealer,Craps or Progressives)
  • Minimum Deposit:$25
  • Maximum Deposit:$500
  • Rollover Requirements: 40X Deposit + Bonus
  • Maximum Cashout:10x Deposit

Not only can players earn cash by referring friends to DuckyLuck, but they can also get some free chips in the process as well. Both you and the person you refer will get a bonus with this promotional offer.
  • Earn $100 once referral makes an initial deposit of $25 or more
  • Referral deposit of $25 – $50:$25 free chip

  • Max Cashout:5X the bonus
  • Bonus amount of $25:maximum withdrawal amount of $250
  • Bonus amount is $50:maximum withdrawal amount of $500
  • Bonus amount is $100:maximum withdrawal amount of $500
  • Rollover Requirements:30X

Rewards Program

Players are automatically enrolled in the DuckyBucks Rewards program. Players earn a Level Point for every $20 they deposit. Crypto players get a few more perks. You receive 10% daily cashback on all your crypot deposits, along with faster payouts, lower rates and fees.
Progressing through the DuckyBucks Rewards levels will unlock improved rewards. For instance, everyone has access to the 5% Daily Cashback bonus. But, only Golden Goose level members can get a 395% Daily Reloading bonus.
Below are the various levels of DuckyLuck’s rewards program.

DuckyLuck Social Contests

DuckyLuck offers social contests which isn’t something we see at many other online casinos. By following them on social media, you’ll be first to know when the contests go live. They are usually set to a certain day of the week, and rely on you pausing a video on a specific image. If you pause the video on the winning image and post a screenshot in the comments, you’ll win 25 free spins for the given slot. You’ll find these contests across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, so it’s worth giving this casino a follow!

Banking Options at DuckyLuck Casino

I was happy to see that DuckyLuck offers 13 different deposit methods. This allows players plenty of options to choose from when making a deposit. I was less pleased to discover that DuckyLuck only has five withdrawal options.
Upon closer inspection, I found that only three methods are available for US players. Bettors in Maryland and Washington only have one withdrawal method, Bitcoin, available.
The minimum withdrawal amount for most methods is $25. Most options also have a maximum withdrawal amount between $150 and $2,500.

DuckyLuck Deposit Methods

The strength of DuckyLuck’s banking methods lies in its deposit options. There are 13 methods to choose from, but some are only available in specific regions.

DuckyLuck Payout Methods
The payout methods at DuckyLuck are more limited compared to the depositing options. This is one area where I feel this casino misses the mark. Increasing the withdrawal options would make it easier for players to enjoy their winnings.
I was also disappointed to see that withdrawal times depend on your VIP level. Standard players may have to way up to 120 hours to receive funds. VIP Crypto high rollers on the other hand can receive their funds within 48 hours.

DuckyLuck Customer Support

DuckyLuck only offers two options for contacting customer support. Players can use the live chat feature to speak to a representative. Or you can send an email to customer support.
  • Live Chat. This option is available 24/7 and there is a small speech bubble icon at the bottom right corner on every page of this online casino. Simply click on the icon and get in touch with a customer service representative.
  • On-Site Contact Form. This option is in lieu of an email address. The generic contact form allows customers to write out any sort of questions, comments, or concerns and send them directly to DuckyLuck’s customer service. Customers can expect a response within 24 hours or less using this method.
  • FAQ Page. The FAQ page can be accessed at the bottom of every page under the “More Info” section. DuckyLuck’s FAQ page addressed a wide range of topics including banking methods, game rules, and the casino’s terms and conditions.

Safety & Security

DuckyLuck Casino requires players to verify their identity before making a withdrawal. This ensures that you are the only person taking money out of your account.
This casino is licensed by the Curacao eGaming Commission. DuckyLuck uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption software to protect players’ personal information.

Final Verdict: 4/5

DuckyLuck casino has a lot to offer. Their game variety is one of their top selling points, with a good selection of slots, video poker, speciality games and a robust live dealer section.
For those who love online slot games, their library of over 400 titles from 8 different developers is a big bonus. They also offer a range of exciting bonuses and competitions ranging from social contests to rewards programmes.
DuckyLuck accepts cryptocurrency, which is a huge plus in my book. They offer a ton of rewards for crypto bettors, too, including exclusive bonuses and faster payout speeds.
I was a little disappointed by the limited payout options offered by DuckyLuck. Also, I would have liked to see more than just nine options in the table games section.
Overall, DuckyLuck provides the entertainment I’d expect from a good online casino. I give DuckyLuck four out of five stars.

2024.05.31 14:06 iceboundselkie Saw a man peering into my window Advice needed

F16 For context I live on the second floor and my window is facing the street, you can look inside, but only if you’re stood at a bit of an angle by the fence. That’s where I saw the old man. He was leaning so damned confidently on the fence, facing the house and to me it definitely seemed like he was peering into the windows.
The fence is further away from the street too, so he had to have walked down into the grass to lean on it.
At the time, I know I’m stupid, I was looking at myself in the mirror and since it’s really hot - I was in a tanktop and underwear. I didn’t even notice him at first until I looked behind me and out the window.
I sat down on my bed to feel less exposed before eventually just straight up ducking to the floor. I waited for a few minutes before peeking out the window again and he was still there. A few other old men were there as well at that point. I ended up sat on the floor for a good while, too frightened to look. Eventually they left though and what I’m left with is - what the hell?
Maybe I’m just paranoid or thinking too deep into it but I can’t help but worry. What if he was genuinely staring? What if the guy took pictures or something? Is there anything I should do at this point?

2024.05.31 07:41 muffincookiebiscuit Should I ask volunteers for a wellness check on my mom?

First time redditor here. I watch the show and have been having conflicting feelings on some recent events that concern me about my mother. I saw something about a want for a long post, so this one is for you.
Background: I have been no contact with my parents for nearly a year, due to my deteriorating mental health while in contact with them. I have been diagnosed with severe/moderate anxiety and depression for awhile now, as well as PTSD and with a history of occasional panic attacks. My father has been abusive to me (all ways except sexually) throughout the years and my mother caters to him a lot. She has a history of abusive partners. Since I was a small child, my parents started isolating themselves from family/friends. My father suffers from a slew of physical illnesses and is not able to cope well on his own, whether it is with daily tasks or dealing with interpersonal relationships.
A big point of contention between my father and I has been the revelation of the existence of my half sister when I was about of legal drinking age. I never knew. I had my first boyfriend during this time. One day, my father went into a fit of rage when he feared I would get pregnant and become a young parent like he was, to which he spilled the beans. It was very traumatic for me. Ever since, I have an irrational fear of pregnancy, despite being on reliable birth control, and desired to contact my sister. I have a half brother who I grew up with all my life, so the news shook me and I want to form another similar sibling bond because I have the best big brother, who I always brag about since childhood.
A couple years later, my sister reached out to me during a shift of my first post-college job. However, it quickly turned ugly. My sister and our father got on bad terms and he no longer wanted me to be in contact with her. I was adamant to know my sister and my nephews, especially since I felt I didn't have much other family I was involved with anymore. I only had bittersweet memories of them and desired to make more good ones. I was so young, I could no longer remember their names in order to contact them and felt scared to ask. At the time, I was living with my parents during the heated arguments about my sister, which spanned over the course of several days. One morning before work, my father burst into my room while I was dead asleep in yet another fit of rage and he pursued a physical altercation towards me and damaged my wall with his fist. I snuck out after he left since I had work. My mother updated me he implied he was suicidal, to which she was skeptical of the validity of this since he apparently threatened this before. I soon left the family home to live on my own after much tension in the household. I lost contact with my sister.
Fast forward to the year of the height of the pandemic, my sister reached out to contact me again and we've been in touch ever since. Then a year ago, a disgruntled abusive ex of mine spilled the beans to my father about our contact to hurt me, despite my ex agreeing with me to not include my father about this information yet. I was in the process of making plans with the help of a therapist with a particularly helpful specialty in this specific situation (medical illness management, family therapy, etc) to tell my parents about the relationship between my sister and I. My father is convinced she is out to get me because he believes she is like her mother, who he does not have a good relationship with. I did not feel like my parents were in a good place to be receptive to the news, due to getting over the fear of the pandemic and my father's poor health. He does not handle stress well at all and has had countless near death experiences with his health alone due to stress, among other triggers, so I was concerned and wanted to be very cautious. I feel this is an important note; his emotions are greatly affected by his physical well being. To name a few, he has general neuralgia, Graves disease, chron's disease, ulcerative cholitis, stiff man's syndrome, lupus, arthritis, etc. It is very difficult to live with all this, so I do try my best to be understanding while also making healthy boundaries.
Over the course of the next year or so, I have tried to work on the relationship between my parents and I. It was miserable. My sister and I felt manipulated to organize a meetup, only to be gaslighted by accusing us to have ill intentions, on and off. It was a lot of emotional abuse. Texting rants would be sent to my phone during work or late into the night; of legal threats, threats of serious mortal harm to my sister, to her mother, to estrange me from my mother and brother, to cut me out of his life too many times, etc. I would cry at work. My boyfriend at the time (current fiance) grew concerned whenever I would visit because he didn't know if I was going to make the 2 hour trek home crying inconsolably or not. I had moved closer to my parents to try to be with them more, especially during the scary, uncertain times of the pandemic at its height, which concerned me for their health.
Eventually, it was too much to bear. I kept being lied to about my father's seriousness of cutting me out of his life. He was trying to manipulate me to not see my sister, despite trying to make us all work on a relationship as a family versus keeping our relationships with each other separate when it was clear it wasn't working out. I attempted to seriously talk about this awful repetitive behavior with him (we've had many prior talks before about his behavior), and he ended up exploding on me during our phone call. I hung up, explaining I won't entertain him speaking to me like that. He expected me to visit him ASAP to work it out, but I was no longer comfortable doing so because this cyclical behavior was not changing despite trying to be understanding. I blocked him so he wouldn't be able to harass me into the night as well as at my early shift at work in the morning. So, I was only communicating with my mother and the main phone line at this point, until I felt like he talked to me more appropriately.
One day while talking to my mother, I found out my father never told her about the physical abuse I experienced (she was never around when he got physical with me). I was under the impression he had, and this discovery upset her. She talked to my father about it, who apparently denied remembering this and she confronted me about it. I explained and she tried to deny my experience, which I had a visceral, angry reaction to after she stated she had to protect my father. I angrily yelled a few choice words to her, said my goodbyes and blocked all their numbers. My father attempted to reach out via a letter and a birthday present. The letter was 62 pages. Single spaced. Small font. Two or less paragraphs to each page. It was a terrible letter. It only confirmed my feelings of how bad my father talks to me when upset, since I usually try to block out the memory of the awful verbal abuse. I returned the present because in the letter it explained how selfish I was, falsely took advantage financially of them and others. It was a bizarre, twisted delusion of prior events that took place of them trying to forcibly fund particular things in my life (college from their inheritance while I denied their money but I was a part of their jount account so they paid off my loans while calling me stupid for trying not to take it, various gifts they sent me that I did not ask for, more emotional blackmail towards me with millions of inheritance money that I do not want, etc). I returned the gift back to their residence along with a much shorter response letter, requesting family therapy or the cessation of our contact. I haven't gotten another letter since.
This brings me to today. While I felt bad about my reaction towards my mother, I could no longer cope with the abuse. I was getting not only mentally sick, but also physically. I experienced horrible panic attacks, debilitating migraines, which I do not have a history of, and intestinal issues. I called out of work numerous times, it got that bad. My relationship with my parents was starting to affect my quality of life. Now that I no longer am involved with them, I surprisingly do feel a lot better. I no longer feel so depressed, haven't been experiencing panic attacks nor those physical symptoms. I can finally work on studying for certifications pertaining to my job, whereas before I had so much trauma involving studying growing up that it was hard for me. I still battle with my demons, although I do feel significantly better. I am getting married this year to my wonderful fiance, who I love dearly and not only by how great he treats me. I have a lovely house, pets, a good job, and planning for a good future retirement by my own hands. Life is great.
Now, circling back to my question: Should I initiate a wellness check on my mom? My brother knows everything and has been a great support thus far. However, my father stated very recently he nor our mother will be contacting him anymore. It turns out, my brother is facing similar abuse I went through and the relationship has turned sour. My father accused my brother's wife of stealing his narcotics and she fell out with them over this, understandably. My parents attempted to conspire with my brother against his wife, by demanding to feed them information. My father has history of paranoia about other people stealing his medications, as well as pressuring my brother and I to illegally ship them to him while traveling (I refused). My brother supported his wife (she is a good woman) and has been at odds ever since last year. His support towards my parents are diminishing.
I did not expect this to happen. I was initially ok cutting off contact, knowing they will be ok on their own. Now I am starting to question that. I see the isolation my mother feels like she's forced into. She is a bubbly, sociable woman normally. More and more, she is becoming a recluse due to my father's demands and I see this as a really bad sign. I am concerned for my mother now that my brother is no longer involved. I know she does not want this, as she's told me as such, but she feels it is easier to give into my father. My brother is going to go into residency next year and he questions the mental stability of my father. After talking about it, I suggested perhaps to do a wellness check on my mother through a domestic abuse institution she used to volunteer for. I feel she will be more likely to open up to them, since she has expressed her desire to volunteer there again (my father convinced, or perhaps coerced, her to quit to take care of the household more). It just doesn't sit right with me how this situation played out.
I confided in the close people in my life and they expressed concern this will result in a backlash on me, or I may sever my relationship with my parents forever. I have the clarity to know for myself I do not want to go back to the same old relationship I had with my parents, if they do not seek help just like I did with therapy. On the other hand, I cannot deny I do desire to have a healthy relationship with my parents, if one day they feel ready to explore family therapy. All I want is familial love without any more than that. It burdens my heart not to feel like I get that from my parents, without strings attached. All the while, without me, I want to know they are at least ok because I still care about them, despite everything. While it is true my mom is an adult, at the same time I have great concern for her well being and it would devastate me to know I could have done something to help her, if she happened to be in a situation she feels she is negatively spiraling down into with no support at all. I am unsure exactly what to do.

2024.05.31 06:37 maallyn Question for Clearness of TPU film vs PVC film

Folks:
For hobby, I make clear plastic raincoats for myself and some friends.
I have been making these using PVC until I foune a clear TPU and am using that now since it is better for the environment and stays flexible in cold weather where PVC gets stiff. also PVS yellows while TPU seems to hold it clear color longer (my oldes TPU raincoat is about 11 years old.
However, I notice that the TPU film is not a glass clear as PVC. I wonder if this is a characteristic of TPU and I would have to accept it. It is a tiny bit milky. Yes, you can read print through it, but it is not as crystal clear as the clearest PVC's.
I would like to send a small sample to someone here who could tell me whether or not the material that I have is the most clear that is commonly available.
Is this an appropriate reddit sub to ask this question?
Thank you

2024.05.31 06:03 ShutUpSystems Started a new job but could still use investors

Hi, I recently started a new job, so I can save up money and eventually pump out season 2 of our cartoon. But that doesn't mean we couldn't still use investors. As I've stated before, we don't know how to make money from the show, due to it being free to watch. The only thing we're banking on is that a distributor snatches it up and says "here's some money!" So, we've attempted kickstarters to try to get investors that are looking for recognition and perks rather than a portion of our current debt (eventually earnings). However, due to not having the funds to advertise massively, our kickstarters hardly started. The very first one fell short only 500 dollars, which was awesome, but would have been more awesome if we had that additional 500.
We've worked with so many awesome artists (voice and visual and musical) and it's a shame we can't pump out our content quicker. The best way to describe it is the way my friend put it... "it's kind of like AdultSwim but a step worse." I take that as a compliment. All our projects past books, current cartoons, and future cartoons and movies, all take place within one simple complex universe... which, of course, leads to many crossovers and a hell of a cannon map... Season 2's writing is nearly complete, and it's even more insane than the last. And most of the voices have already been recorded, so it's pretty much ready to move to animation. Anway, I am exhausted from just starting work today, so I'm just going to show you a few photos from season 1, as well as an awesome poster for the first season and the link to the full season.
Thanks for your time and just let me know if you'd like to know more! We're not looking for much, compared to other studios. We're just talking 50k to 100k for the season, which many cartoons cost that per episode. Eventually, I'd like to increase our budget big time so all the awesome artists can wear top hats and sing sea shanties while peddling a unicycle under a waterfall, as a rich person often does, but for now, I'd settle with throwing a nice bonus thank you to everyone who worked on the first or second season. Oh, and we'd love to just have an investor to essentially cover the costs of season one, that way I can be made whole and re-budget that out to cover the animation costs of season 2.

2024.05.31 03:55 NolaNeNe69 Friend got way messed over on his accident settlement by lawyer.

Ok so my 39f friend 24m has been having issues with his vehicle since we met; I’m talkin like he’s get it out the shop and the next day it’s be back in that MF. Come to find out the auction ppl sold him a flooded vehicle 😡Last August he finally decided to get a new vehicle and my homie went and got himself a very sexy BMW 5 series; not new at all it was a 2010 I believe but man that car was sexy and boy did he look sexy in that bih too 🫦🫦 anyhow. He was on the on-ramp merging onto the interstate but the traffic was stopped, we have the dumbest interstate bc you have a total of two car lengths to merge b4 you’re on the shoulder. Traffic was backed up so he was stopped in the merging lane/ on-ramp the lane was also an “Up” lane when he looked in his rear view mirror and noticed an 18 wheeler coming up mighty fast and be fore he could even fully from the thought of “please don’t hit me” BAM that 18 wheeler SLAMMED into the back of him so hard the truck stopped RIGHT AT THE BACK OF HIS DRIVER SEAT. Luckily he was not injured at all beyond your normal body soreness and stiff neck. Now here’s where everything gets shady so the cop who comes to make the report tells my friend that he’s gonna need to get the car towed that he can’t leave it there, I’ve NEVER had the police NOT CALL a tow company have all vehicles towed. I mean hell one time I had to call the police station to find where a vehicle was that I had totaled anyways back to my friend so my friend calls a tow truck and these MFs brought it to his house and dropped it in his driveway 🤦🏽‍♀️🤔😡 WTF SERIOUSLY 😳 but ok i asked him if he had spoke to any lawyers bc he had a really good lawsuit that by all means was almost a blessing of sorts. I mean to get slammed into by a big rig truck and be unharmed, not to mention the amount of money he was about to get should’ve been enough to payoff his new car and buy an even newer one completely out right and still have funds leftover. We it’s not May 30th and he is JUST NOW receiving his settlement check but his lawyer settled with the truckers insurance and accepted a payout amount without ever contacting him to discuss anything at all. Throughout this whole ordeal I have asked him several times what was going on but he never knew anything bc the lawyer never would call him back but yet they continued to send him to physical therapy twice a week for 8 months running up that bill b4 I finally got serious with him and was like wtf is going on with this bc my son was in an at fault accident on November 1 and by December 6 he already had a check from insurance. That’s when I found out that this lawyer somehow contacted him the following day I believe and my friend signed paperwork so he thought he had no option other than to stick it out. Now I don’t kno exactly how much his settlement is but I’m thinking it’s way smaller than it should be that’s for certain. So my question is what is a sorta average or going rate for a payout involving an at fault 18 wheeler and if he did in fact get completely screwed over by this lawyer lady is there anything he can do?

2024.05.31 02:49 packawesome Corporate Video Editing / Video Production as a Career in Toronto, is it worth it?

Hey askTO,
I'm a fresh university graduate and am now making a little less than $50k a year no benefits as a junior video editor in Toronto. I know it's not much but I enjoy my work and frankly it's the only thing I'm good at doing. It seems salaries for video jobs tend to be around $50K-60K a year on Indeed which I heard is not very high for Toronto standards. I've heard people making upwards of $100k but that's mostly in the US and if you have more experience. I think there are higher paying positions in Canada too but I can't seem to find them on Indeed or LinkedIn.
I have aspirations outside of work, such as one day owning a Tesla and buying a house. Is corporate video editing / production a good career both salary and work-life balance wise in this city? Should I plan to switch to a more higher paying field (and which one) down the line?
Thanks!

2024.05.30 23:55 Zeddblidd The Doctor Takes a Wife (1940)

2024-212 / Zedd MAP: 81.35 / MLZ MAP: 86.53 / Score Gap: 5.18
Wikipedia / IMDb / Official Trailer / Our Collection
Ok - you caught us! It’s the simple truth of the matter, no wiggling out of it, what can a pair of movie cartographers do? Face the music, take it on the chin, don’t make it any worse, just accept the fate. Here we go…
From IMDb: A best-selling author of women's issues and a medical academic find it is to their mutual advantage to falsely claim that they are married.
Forces, some we have influence on, others we don’t, have had impact. Here at Casa de Zedd, our hall of plenty is our media room. In a typical 500 Movies series, I like to keep the line up varied, 80s mixed tape style: you might check in and find we watched an 70s drama, a tried and true screwball comedy from the 40s, a 90s-era neo-noir. Our media room is well stocked with motion pictures great and small - 1922 through 2024, over a hundred years of film history from around the world. My mixing game is strong. This year’s series has been… less so.
First and foremost, we returned with a different intent (our control) - making 500 Movies a fun, safe place on Reddit during a hard year (not in our control). A sane act of friendly care in a world filled with insane, dreadful headlines. ((Yikes)) Mrs. Lady Zedd also asked me about focusing more on new movies, well - more than we have previously.
I’m also doing my damndest to get the new Movie Collection Catalog up and run to full capacity. Inputting particulars, pulling the digital codes for processing, incoming new films… my plate is very full. The end result this year has been fewer older films, more new ones. A focus on film eras we feel the most comfortable watching (the most bang for our buck, emotionally), but also a bit easier for the two of us to write up. We’re 5 months in, ahead of schedule, but our movie make up is more straight line than 80s mixed tape:
On the one hand, it’s good to see our goals manifested, on the other ((shrug)) I’m feeling we’re neglecting early to mid-20th century titles. Only 11 flicks from 1900 to 1959 this time around. Well, what can I say - someone dropped a comment on a write up on a 40s film written nearly two years ago this week and it got me thinking… we can do a little better than this.
So, here we are: Loretta Young and Ray Milland in a romantic/screwball(ish) comedy, very common cinema fare in 1940. Sharped-tongued lady, bumbling over-thinking guy, impossible situation turns to a love connection. Opposites attract because at the end of the day there’s a fine line between love and hate.
Ray Milland is a bit of a success story around here - I hadn’t a clue who he was 20 years ago but his drunken wink promotional picture was so recognizable on IMDb, he became an early “Them” candidate. He’s uptight but droll - you’ll enjoy his performances but I always think James Stewart could have done everything a bit better.
As my awareness of Milland grew, I started realizing he was a regular on TV and movies of dubious quality (??) in the 70s and early 80s. His appearance and voice had changed considerably over the years - I knew this older, gruff Ray Milland but the young, dapper Milland felt like a stranger. The more our collection grew, the better able I was to reconcile the two versions. He graduated from “Them” to leading man.
Mrs. Lady Zedd opines Loretta Young - an actress we haven’t any experience with - was rather attractive and well suited to this part. We’ve been aware of her but it was nice to see her in action. Sparks certainly flew as Young and Milland clash in every conceivable way and then fly again as they make the love connection - she said (and I agree), they had solid on-screen chemistry.
Funny thing about having a sizable collection, when you haven’t visited a genre or era in a while and then throw it in the machine, it’s like opening a window in Spring - a breath of fresh air. You simply can’t hope for those sorts of self-guided explorations if you’re depending on streaming services to play nice. Who knows what some programing algorithm will “decide” to make available… maybe you’ll find what you’re looking for, maybe you won’t. No thanks, I’ll just keep my discs and host myself. I always seem to have what I’m looking for ((wink-wink)). Consider doing the same.
Movie On.

2024.05.30 23:48 Opposite_Rooster_148 Does he want a relationship?

So for a little context I’m 23 and the guy is 24. I have been kinda seeing this guy for 6 months now. We go out and have fun but the two times I brought up “what do you want out of this” he changes the subject. I kinda feel like I’m wasting my time if he doesn’t want a relationship but I really like him and it’s kinda getting harder to distance myself but I can’t continue like this. We go out a lot but only ever kissed and nothing more. I know he likes me but I’m scared to bring the whole conversation up now because I have before and didn’t get an answer.
I have never had a boyfriend before and don’t really know what’s normal but 6 months seem like a long time to get to know each other. Or maybe it’s normal but I don’t know.
Any tips from the guys on how to approach this with him?

2024.05.30 20:52 roshi-roshi I Was Off and On for years. Totally quit now.

I know it was hurting my marriage. Then again, my wife played a role too. We are divorcing. She hasn’t mentioned porn being the I ssue, just in passing. However, I feel like I ruined my life, my wife’s life, my children’s because of porn use.
Always felt totally ashamed since I was a teen. I’d watch, feel ashamed and quit for months only to do it again. Sometimes I’d quit for years and not even think about it. I know it had an affect on the bedroom.
I’ve quit for good. Will never look again. The shame is debilitating.
I know there’s nothing I can do but keep from committing suicide each day. That’s where I’m at. The pain is unbearable.
No one can help. We take this misery to hell with us.
PS-I can’t get into see the meetings. Any suggestions?
Thank you

2024.05.30 18:28 feauxpa Babystylist needing advice!! I feel very stuck and don’t know what to do.

Apologies for the long post! I’m just stuck. I’ve had my license for about a year now. I’ve been apprenticing at an amazing salon, with very talented stylists who have been in the industry for a very long time. With that being said, I feel like I’m not able to get clients in my chair and I believe it’s due to what I am being told to charge.
While my boss is trying to set me up for success, I feel what I’m required to charge is too much for my skill set, and time in the industry. I understand I deserve to be paid for my work, I just don’t know if I’ve earned these prices just yet. They tell me they don’t want me to go through what they did, but they’ve also been in the industry for almost 20 years. Along with this, I have friends and family who want to come see me, but I charge too high so it deters them. It hurts because they WANT me to do their hair, I’m just not able to adjust my price to make that happen. Eventually I know I will have to raise my prices, but I don’t think I should be charging $70 for haircuts, $90 for color, and $200 for highlights just yet. I’ve done a few model days, but even then we are charging the clients a discounted rate of $50 off the normal price. It’s affecting my income, as I’m making MAYBE $450 every two weeks being hourly, but I genuinely want to be here and learn from these women. It’s not just about my income, it’s about the amount of clients I am seeing on my own and that’s due to my prices. You can only learn so much on a Debra.
Am I being dramatic about this? Is this normal? Does anyone have advice on what a stylist 1 year in the industry should charge to still make an income? Or does anyone have advice on how to approach this subject? My boss will be receptive, however I’m also scared! Thank you for taking the time to read this if you did. :)

2024.05.30 16:59 adam1691 Where do I learn everything???

So I just passed my CBT yesterday and I’m 17. I don’t have anyone around me who knows anything about bikes and I’m fresh into the scene.
I live just off of London and when I checked for insurance on a gsxr125 it was like 2.2k when the bikes literally worth 4k so I’m considering changing the starter bike.
Anyways I’m wondering where all you guys get all your knowledge, like how do I know if a bikes a total lemon, what’s a good price for a used bike, when to buy a bike? Where to get it? How to do maintenance, all of that stuff.
I know I got google and Reddit, but after lots of searching I still somehow can’t seem to gain the knowledge that some guys here have. Like any question you ask they’ll know the answer to.
Is there forums or any YouTubers/content creators that you’d recommend for me to check out?
And also if there’s any tips on lowering insurance/good bikes to have fun on at my age too pls lmk!
Thanks in advance btw

2024.05.30 09:12 Latter-Recipe7650 Worst interview experience from illegal questions

Went to a interview for a job. I assumed was gonna be okay cause they were loose with dress code and said “we care about thinking not what you dressed”. Fine and dandy until the interview arrived. Interviewer was in a meeting before the interview where I was early to attend. Started off normal with generic questions until they went personal/illegal asking questions about my ethnicity and family. I didn’t share my ethnicity. The crap sauce to finish it was asking about my gap. I tried to keep a straight face but was feeling pissed cause I searched for 5 months now. Being asked about a gap is a smack to the face over something I can’t control. A reminder of myself looking like a failure in life. I then asked them questions and did a stupid personality test I couldn’t really care about (neither did they as they admitted). The interview finished with a last minute question with salary expectations (they forgot to ask) and getting personal again with “how I got here”.
The major red flags to me was the way he was critical of my resume. Trivialising my experience. Saying the company is like “family”. Being personal and straight up asking illegal questions. Should I even work for them, let alone attend if I do get the chance of a second interview?
I’m just depressed and unmotivated for being unemployed for 5 months. People blaming me for things I can’t control and born with (being poc). Being unable to get work early on has already made me suicidal. Seeing others get jobs before me. In addition to seeing content on social media of people my age game end themselves. Can’t employees let alone recruiters understand basic economics of how bad the economy is and be more forgiving of people who come from unfortunate circumstances? Understand some people can’t get jobs within three months on a false benchmark? Guess that’s too much to ask from apathetic people. I’ve done tons of unpaid work and this is how I get treated.

🔗Lee Precision 3-Die Set for 45-70 Government Reloading

https://preview.redd.it/xgom4zisei3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=66ad6185347a6ac2e1683f0ed5d8ebd364b0e5a3
When I first got my hands on the Lee Precision 3 Die Steel Set, I was impressed with the sturdy construction. This set has everything you need for handloading your. 45-70 Government rounds, without any need for additional accessories. I appreciated the inclusion of the Lee Precision Steel Full Length Sizer die, which allowed for easy sizing without having to buy that separately.
One thing that stood out was the versatility of this product. With its included powder dipper and shell holder, it was a breeze to charge and seat my bullets, making handloading as simple as can be. Add that to the reliable crimping process and it was hard to find any faults.
However, like any product, it wasn't without its quirks. I found that the included Lee Precision Steel Full Length Sizer die required careful lubrication before use and needed the cases to be cleaned before charging. It also didn't come with a factory crimp die, which added an extra step to the process.
All in all, the Lee Precision 3 Die Steel Set was a reliable addition to my reloading kit. With its robust construction, versatile capabilities, and reasonable price, it's a product that any serious handloader should consider. Just remember that with any reloading equipment, patience, and attention to detail are key to ensuring a seamless process.

The Lee Precision 3 Die Carbide Set is a must-have for anyone looking to reload 25 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) ammunition with ease. The carbide full-length sizing die helps in resizing cases for multiple firearms, making it a versatile option. The bullet seating die is smooth in action and ensures the bullet sits perfectly, while the powder through expanding die provides effective function without the need for case lube.
The set comes with a universal shell holder, making it compatible with a wide range of handguns. The powder dipper is a nice bonus, allowing for precise powder dispensing without any added hassle. Instructions and load data are also included, offering valuable guidance for first-time reloaders or those new to the. 25 ACP cartridge.
However, there are a few drawbacks to note. Some reviewers mention that the powder dispensing method could be improved, and that the small powder amount makes it a bit challenging to achieve consistency. Additionally, the shell holder might not fit perfectly on all handguns if the model isn't specified.
Overall, the Lee Precision 3 Die Carbide Set is a reliable and efficient option for reloading 25 ACP ammunition. Its compatibility with multiple handguns and the addition of useful tools make it a worthwhile investment for those looking to save costs on ammunition while enjoying time at the shooting range.

🔗Lee Precision 4-Die Carbide Set for .38 Special and .357 Magnum Reloading

https://preview.redd.it/eiudz17tei3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b84c43e5fd5453a8fa76f7a4b903542acb28a150
When I decided to take up reloading my own ammunition, I knew I needed a reliable and efficient set of dies. That's when I stumbled upon the Lee Precision Carbide 4 Die Set. I was immediately attracted to its four-die set, which included a carbide sizing die, a bullet seating die, a powder thru expanding die, and a carbide factory crimp die. The set is perfect for effectively and efficiently reusing my ammunition.
One of the things that stood out to me was the air-tight, low profile box that the dies come in. It keeps the dies organized and preserved, so they're always ready to use. The dies themselves are high quality and easy to set up, ensuring a smooth and efficient reloading process.
However, there were a few drawbacks. The instructions could be clearer at times, and I found that I needed to thoroughly clean the dies with lacquer thinner to ensure accurate adjustments and prevent any issues with powder flow. The locking rings also took some getting used to, but after a little practice, I was able to easily switch between calibers on my Lee turret press.
Overall, the Lee Precision Carbide 4 Die Set has been a reliable and efficient addition to my reloading setup. It's a great value for the price and has lived up to my expectations. I would definitely recommend it to fellow reloaders looking for a high-quality and cost-effective set of dies.

I recently got my hands on the Lee Precision Carbide 3 Die Set 10mm, and let me tell you, it's been quite the experience. First off, the packaging was quite impressive - the dies were neatly arranged in a small, sturdy box. The manual and load data sheet were a nice touch too.
One of the features that stood out to me was the universal shell holder, which made it a breeze to start reloading my ammo. It took me back to the old days when people had to go through the hassle of finding the right components and assembling them by hand. The powder dipper was a real game-changer; it's like a whole new level of precision in reloading.
As for the dies themselves, they were durable and easy to use. The carbide full length sizing die was really impressive - no more issues with stripped lock screws! The powder through expanding die bullet seating die worked like a charm, ensuring accurate and consistent crimping. The universal shell holder was a bit fiddly at first, but once I got the hang of it, it was a smooth operation.
That's not to say there weren't a few cons. The instruction manual could have been more detailed, particularly when it came to adjusting the die. And the seating/crimping die took some fiddling around before I achieved consistent results, especially when I tried to do both at the same time.
Overall, though, it's been a positive experience. The Lee Precision Carbide 3 Die Set 10mm does a great job of making reloading more efficient and reliable. I'd definitely consider investing in more sets for the future. A five out of five for me!

The Lee Precision Carbide 3 Die Set for 9mm Luger has been an excellent addition to my reloading routine. One of the standout features of this set is its universal shell holder and powder dipper, which has made the process of loading rounds much smoother and efficient. The durable design of the dies also adds peace of mind, knowing that they can withstand regular use without breaking down.
However, I must admit that I've faced a few minor inconveniences while using this set. The most notable issue has been the occasional difficulty in crimping the bullets correctly, which resulted in a few misfires. Additionally, the provided case holder seemed less than ideal, leading me to explore alternative options. Overall, I believe the pros outweigh the cons, and I would recommend the Lee Precision Carbide 3 Die Set for anyone looking to reload their 9mm Luger ammo.

As a reloader, I've tried various die sets, but Hornady's Match-Grade Die Set has proven to be one of the most reliable and user-friendly options for precise and consistent reloading results. Its full-length sizer and seater dies eliminate the need for multiple die sets, and the interchangeable self-centering neck size bushings (sold separately) prevent over-diesing. When it comes to bullet seating, the microJust in-line bullet-seating die delivers easy and consistent adjustments down to. 001".
Additionally, the die locking rings ensure a secure fit, resulting in a high-quality product. While the storage box is a nice feature, the one downside is the lack of a shellholder, which may be an inconvenience for some users. Overall, Hornady's Match-Grade Die Set provides excellent reloading performance and is well-worth its value as a precision die set.

I recently had the chance to try out the Lee Precision Carbide 3 Die Set 10 mm in my daily reloading routine. The set includes powder through expanding die, bullet seating die, and a carbide full-length sizing die, making it perfect for reusing ammunition efficiently.
What really stood out to me was the universal shell holder and powder dipper. It made the entire process much more streamlined and convenient. The durable design was also a standout feature, as it allowed me to reload ammo without worrying about the equipment breaking down or wearing down over time.
However, I did notice that the instruction manual and load data sheet could have been a bit clearer and more detailed. As a beginner, I found myself struggling a bit to understand some of the more complex steps. Additionally, the set screw on the die adjustment seemed a bit less secure than some other options available.
Overall, I think the Lee Precision Carbide 3 Die Set 10 mm is a solid choice for anyone looking to get into reloading their ammo. The universal shell holder and powder dipper make the process incredibly easy, and the durable design ensures that the equipment will last for years to come. Just be prepared to be a bit patient with the instruction manual and adjusting to the set screws on the dies.

The Lee PaceSetter 3-Die Set has become an indispensable part of my reloading toolkit. Despite being a beginner, I found the set incredibly user-friendly, with the Full Length Sizing Die and the Easy Adjust Dead Length Bullet Seater working smoothly and precisely.
One die in particular stood out - the Factory Crimp Die. Its machine-honed finish offered a perfect crimp, which significantly improved the accuracy of my ammunition. Another favorite was the built-in Stuck Case Remover. Its functionality was impressive, allowing me to tackle any sticking issues in a seamless manner.
However, I must mention a minor inconvenience - the long guided expander took a while to get used to. It was a bit tricky to adjust at first, but once I got the hang of it, I found it to be efficient and accurate.
The Lee PaceSetter 3-Die Set offers a delightful balance of quality and affordability. Its versatility and the variety of tools provided make it an excellent investment for both beginners and seasoned reloaders like myself.

As a frequent reloader, I've had the pleasure of using the Lee Precision Pacesetter Dies for. 223. These dies have been an essential part of my reloading process, offering a great balance between affordability and performance.
Upon first use, the quality of these dies became apparent. The crimp die and roll crimper allowed me to achieve consistent ammunition with ease. However, one area where these dies excel is with full-length sizing. By performing this step in a Lee single stage press followed by a turret press, I've been able to achieve optimal accuracy for a reasonable price.
The storage box is another highlight, designed to keep the dies safe and organized. The fact that Lee includes a powder dipper and load data also adds value to the product.
However, there is one potential downside to consider: the depriming arm can sometimes come loose during use. This issue may cause inconvenience for those looking for a smoother reloading experience. Despite this minor drawback, I would still highly recommend the Lee Precision Pacesetter Dies to any reloader looking for affordability without sacrificing quality.

I recently got my hands on the Lee Precision 338 Lapua 2 die set and let me tell you, it's been a game changer. This set includes all the essentials - a sizer and bullet seater die, as well as a powder dipper and the correct shell holder. The best part? It's half the price of its competitors, without sacrificing on quality.
One of the features that really stood out to me is the built-in roll crimp. It ensures my cartridges are secure and ready for some serious shooting. The storage box is a thoughtful addition, keeping everything neat and organized when it's not in use.
However, there are a couple of downsides too. I noticed that it doesn't come with a factory crimp die, which could be a deal-breaker for some. Also, it's missing load data which isn't ideal for those unfamiliar with odd or obsolete calibers.
Overall, the Lee Precision 338 Lapua 2 die set is a solid choice for anyone looking for an affordable and reliable way to reload their ammo. With its accurate sizing and seating, it's definitely worth considering.

Ever since I started using Lee Precision's 270 Win Breech Lock Pacesetter 3 Die Set, I can confidently say it's been a game changer in my daily life. As an avid hunter and reloader, I appreciate the high precision and affordability Lee Precision offers with their products.
One thing that stood out was their colored spline drive breech bushings. It allowed me to easily identify my dies, which not only made the process more efficient but also prevented any confusion when switching back and forth between different calibers.
The Full Length Sizing Die was another feature that caught my attention. It provided a cleaner finish and ensured consistent sizing, leading to more accurate shots. The Easy Adjust Dead Length Bullet Seating Die was perfect for my hunting needs and the Factory Crimp Die gave a perfect crimp, maintaining accuracy and ensuring my bullets stayed intact.
Though it might take a bit longer to get used to the various sizing and crimping techniques, I found it to be a small price to pay for the level of precision I got. Also, the included Powder Dipper and Universal Shell Holder made the whole process more convenient, especially during the busy hunting season.
The only downside I experienced was the need to invest in a separate scale for more accurate weight measurements, but this was easily rectified with a small additional purchase.
Overall, Lee Precision's 270 Win Breech Lock Pacesetter 3 Die Set is a reliable and efficient reloading solution for any avid hunter or shooter.

As a seasoned cast bullet shooter, I've been on the lookout for ways to enhance the performance of my homemade rounds. Enter Hornady Gas Checks in 270 caliber, a game-changer in the world of cast bullet reloading. These little copper gems have made a significant difference in my hunting adventures and shooting practice sessions.
The Gas Checks, as their name suggests, effectively protect cast bullets from exposure to hot gases and prevent deformation. This results in a more accurate and consistent shot, which is evident during target practice. On top of this, they help minimize barrel fouling, making cleaning a breeze.
However, I must mention that the crimping process can be a bit finicky, but with practice, it becomes second nature. It's a small drawback compared to the numerous benefits these gas checks provide.
Overall, I'd say the Hornady Gas Checks, available at SKU - 31484012345, have proven to be a reliable and valuable addition to my reloading process. Their versatility – suitable for both pistol and rifle bullets – makes them an essential tool for any cast bullet enthusiast.

As a dedicated reloader, I found the RCBS Small Base Die Set for. 270 Winchester to be incredibly useful in ensuring smooth loading for my semi-automatic, pump action, and lever action rifles. The precision craftsmanship of the dies shines through in their ability to size brass to minimum specifications and maintain proper chambering every time.
However, one aspect I had to be mindful of was the sufficient use of high-quality lubricant to prevent stuck cases. As someone who has faced issues with regular dies in the past, I now rely on these short base dies to provide an efficient and hassle-free reloading experience.
The overall quality of the product is impeccable, as expected from the reputable RCBS brand. I highly recommend this Small Base Die Set for any reloader looking to ensure reliable feeding and functionality for their non-bolt action rifles.

2024.05.30 07:19 Mission_Selection465 Crush on coworker….decided not to confess

[honestly kind of irrelevant backstory]

Highly doubt he’s on reddit at all but I will be changing/leaving out some details anyways.
Started a new job awhile back, co worker caught my eye. First few days I was just trying to learn the lay of the land and be generally comfortable, but I walked past him a few times. I summed it up to the fact that he was the one of two of the only guys around my age (give or take 5 years) so of course I thought he was attractive in comparison to everyone else. And then my second week there we made eye contact while walking past one another and he smiled at me…and my heart dropped … in a good way.
So then I’m like “damn…I have a crush. Okay. It’s been a while…” so it was fun at first. I didn’t really know anything about my coworkers personal lives, so I didn’t know who was married or who was single..I just knew he was cute.
We continued to always walk past each other and flash a quick smile if convenient. Also attended some meetings together, one of them was where I found out he would be leaving the company in a month or so. And I was like “damn…”
Of course I looked up his Instagram. Private, but his picture was just of him alone. I’m not saying every single person I know has their significant other in their profile pic, but a majority do. So that led me to believe he was possibly single …
We literally did not talk at all this was a fully one sided crush lmao. Had probably 2 conversations and they were about work logistics. And some random small interactions like almost running into each other when turning a corner or general printecopy talk. We ate lunch at different times so I never saw him then either. The crush started getting annoying because I would always notice him or be on the lookout for him it was just causing me anxiety.
One day I noticed the company we work at posted short bios on each staff member. They were submitted 7 months before I looked at them. Many staff members put a photo of them w their significant other and children. Of course I scrolled to his and there’s a really pretty girl posed next to him! The sigh of relief I let out like okay has a girlfriend/wife thank god I can just admire him in peace.
But then I thought back to his insta profile picture..alone…what if they broke up? Then I was like ok this is insane.
Eventually as the crush grew I had it in my head that I should casually confess to him before he leaves work, through a note or something (lame ik …) but it wasn’t a real thought just the beginning of one. I’ve never told a crush I’ve liked them before, and the circumstances made this one feel pretty low stakes. Like who cares if you don’t like me back, we’re not gonna see each other on a daily basis anymore.
[TODAY]
Anyways his last day of work was today. And we talked more than we have had since I started working here….it was work related but more personal leaning. Turns out he’s moving out of state. It felt nice to talk to him, have his undivided attention on me…but then I realized that’s all I wanted. For him to look at me, talk to me, I just wanted to feel desired. So I did not confess, and left work feeling fulfilled due to that realization. Like … your crush is really JUST a person….don’t forget that.
God forbid I form a new crush though… they drive me insane.

2024.05.30 07:05 multipotentialite- 22M who cannot stop stressing about the future.

Hi all this may be a longer post so I will create a TL:DR for anyone not wanting to read it all.
(Apologies in advance for any formatting flaws, I’m using mobile)
TL:DR - Have 2 college degrees and got a job as an electrician, but want to go into med school to become a physician. Worrying about losing the opportunity to become an electrician, how to schedule classes and work, and how I will afford life the next few years.
For anyone wanting the details here it goes. I just graduated with masters in business management after getting my bachelor’s in psychology. I have also been working trade-like jobs since I was 16 so I know my way around blue-collar work, but have credentials for white-collar work. Ever since I started college I kept tossing the idea of medical school around but never pursued it (which I regret).
Just recently I got a job with the IBEW, an electricians union where I start my apprenticeship in July. I have also decided to pursue med school on top of the apprenticeship. Now I know I cannot do both at once, but my dilemma lies with my salary and the time I have to fit things into my schedule.
The salary I get will be low, almost too low to live on my own which sucks. The other issue is I need to take my chemistry pre requisites before I take the MCATS and apply for medical school, which would take me 2-3 years if I slacked a bit. The issue is, with trades your work isn’t very flexible and I worry that the chem classes I need will not be available at times that I need them, or I won’t be able to rearrange my schedule for work to fit my class schedule.
I have found a few jobs that pay more and are affiliated with the university that I will most likely be taking classes at, but this means I will give up the opportunity to be a part of a highly sought after apprenticeship program. It’s an option but I’m not sure if it’s the right one.
Lastly, I am 22 turning 23 soon and if I were to grind out pre rec classes I could technically apply to med school by 2025 or 2026 meaning I would start med school at 25 years old (if accepted) and be done with everything by my early 30s, WHICH IS IDEAL. But what is eating at me, is I will have to give up the opportunity to become an electrician.
Now looking at this post it’s easy to just say, “choose one or the other you can’t do both” and you are right, but WHAT IF I could be educated for a few years as an electrician and then go to med school starting early enough that I would become a physician by my early 30s.
So I guess to try and make things easier to understand, I’m worried about these things:
  1. How can I fit in classes with my work schedule at 40hrs a week?
  2. Do I stick with the Union and try to make both work until I need to solely focus on medicine? Or do I get a less stressful job to supplement pay for the next couple years?
  3. I really like the opportunity to become an electrician and learn a trade but I don’t want to start med school too late.
I really hope this all makes sense, and it’s not incoherent rambling. I would really appreciate your thoughts, and thank you for reading (if you did).

2024.05.30 06:35 frenchgirl770 need ideas for revenge on my little sisters bully

Hi I am F (27) posting on behalf of my sister F (13) she is in 7th grade and has been brutally bullied by the ring leader of her friend group who has been known to tear down anybody in her path and turn all the kids against you if she is threatened by you. This girl will throw drinks in her hair, took her backpack and dipped it in the toilet, make fun of people’s bodies to their faces, manipulate her friends to bully people on her behalf, blackmails people, etc. She also sends videos of herself fingering herself to kids her age and is just a dangerous type of mean girl at this age. My sister does not want to continue to take this issue to the head of the school because each time it just makes it worse and she only doubles down. Point blank- we want to try to prank her or get some kind of subtle revenge. Toilet papering is off the table- and she doesn’t want it to be too obvious it’s coming back on her. Any ideas?

2024.05.30 06:26 MCATSelfPrep Why it’s Important to Apply to Medical School Early

Why it’s Important to Apply to Medical School Early

Written and edited by the MCAT Self Prep Tutoring Team
Home of the Free MCAT Prep Course
Current applicants, medical students, and medical admission consultation companies often talk about the importance of applying early to medical school. However, it can be confusing if you are hearing that for the first time. Are they saying I should apply at a younger age? Should I apply as a junior instead of a senior in college? Should I apply early in the application cycle? Why should I be doing this? And, if I were to do this, how would I apply early? While you may not have asked yourself all of these questions, you may still be wondering why it is important and how to apply early. In this post, I will go over the importance of applying early, explain what it means to apply early, explain the medical school application timeline, and what the timeline of an early applicant looks like. If you need extra guidance, lots of students choose to prepare for and organize the medical school admissions process using our customized Medical School Admissions Consulting.

1. Why Is It Important to Apply Early?

Most medical schools are on a rolling admissions timeline. Imagine musical chairs, but the music starts as soon as the first people show up and stops before everyone gets there. The people that get to this imaginary game of musical chairs first have a better chance of making it to a chair. Schools start sending out acceptances to applicants before they have even interviewed everyone they will interview. They will typically have more accepted applicants come from earlier in the interview season than from later in the season. For example, the medical school will interview from October to February. Each week they interview 30 applicants. They will start accepting students in December. They will send out half of their acceptances in December, 30% in January, then 10% in February, and then the final 10% in March. Those that interview in October will typically be looked at for each successive wave, increasing their chances of acceptance, while those interviewing in February will only have the opportunity to be accepted in March. So, even though they interview the same number of applicants each week, they are not accepting the same number of applicants each week. They accept more applicants earlier on in the process. This is why it is crucial to apply early in the application process so that you can likely get an earlier interview and increase your chances of acceptance.

2. Understanding the Application Timeline

If you are applying to MD granting medical schools, you will use AMCAS (American Medical College Application Service). DO schools use AACOMAS. And schools in Texas use TMDSAS. While each application service has its own individual timeline, I will focus on AMCAS, and the same principles will apply to the other services just with slightly different dates. The AMCAS application will be open so that you can start filling it out on May 3, 2021. The application cannot be submitted until May 27, 2021. This month allows you to fill in the application, get your letters of recommendation submitted, submit official transcripts, and proofread the application. After the application is submitted, AAMC, the Association of American Medical Colleges who makes the MCAT and is in charge of AMCAS, needs to process the application. Processing the application can take up to six weeks, though it typically takes less time if the application is submitted within the first week that one can submit, and it also is processed faster if submitted later on in the year, such as in September or October. On June 25, 2021, AAMC will send processed applications to medical schools. Once medical schools get the application, they will request a secondary application. After the secondary application has been submitted, schools will review the applications and start sending out interviews. The earlier the medical schools get your application and secondary application, the sooner you will be able to get an interview, and the higher chance you will get accepted.

3. An Early Applicant’s Timeline

Now that I have explained what the overall timeline is for applying, I will explain how you as an applicant can apply early and what is considered “early.” I first want to give a disclaimer that you should not apply earlier than you are ready! If you don’t feel like your application is ready by these dates, then it might be wise to consider taking a gap year so that you can still apply early the next cycle but with a prepared application. To be prepared to apply early, you will want to start thinking about who can write you good letters of recommendation and make sure to keep a good relationship with them 4-12 months before the application opens in May. You will also need to start working on the personal statement in January. By beginning on the personal statement in January and working on it for only 1-2 hours a week, your personal statement will have an excellent start come April. That way, when you ask mentors for a letter of recommendation, you can give them a relatively-polished personal statement for them to review. When I gave my personal statement to my letter of recommendation writers in March, they were all impressed with the progress I had made in my personal statement, and they all said that it helped them when writing my letters. In March, you will want to ask for letters of recommendation. By asking this early, you will give the letter writer time to write you a good letter and time for you to remind them if they are behind at writing the letter. During April you will spend much more time working on the personal statement and writing descriptions for the activities you decide to include in your application.
When May 3rd comes, you will want to start filling in the information for your application, while continuing to edit and revise your personal statement and activities description. The week of May 3rd you will want to make sure that all of your letters of recommendation are done, or that they are at least very close to being done. Remember, if your school does not have a committee letter, you only need to have your letters of recommendation submitted before your application is sent to schools on June 25th, 2021, not by the time you first submit your application. You will also want to make sure that you know where to order your transcripts and if they can be sent online or if they have to be mailed in. If the transcripts can only be sent in the mail, they will need to be sent as early as possible because those can take longer to process than electronic transcripts. You will need transcripts for every college and university you have taken classes from, so know the procedure for each school’s transcript system.
A week before May 27, 2021, you should be making sure that everything in your application is spotless, with your recommendations in so that you can submit on the 27th (you can also add letters of recommendation later if needed). You will want to have your MCAT score back before June 25th, so that you can know what schools will be in your range. However, you can apply and submit your application without an MCAT score. Theoretically, you could take the MCAT on May 24th, apply to one school on May 27th to get your application verified, receive your MCAT score and add all your other schools on June 24th, and on June 25th when your application is sent to medical schools, the schools that you added later will think that you added them on day 1.
The final step to being an early applicant is submitting your secondary applications within two weeks of receiving them, but it is better to submit within one week. This can be stressful because so many secondary applications from different schools are sent all at the same time, so prewriting secondary prompts is a good idea during the month of June while you are waiting for your application to be sent to schools. I pre-wrote about 80% of my secondary application essays and even though some of the prompts changed, it really saved my life. I was able to submit my secondaries within one week for most of my secondary applications and wasn’t stressed when they all came at once. Once your secondaries are submitted, you just need to wait and prepare for interviews!
In conclusion, you want to submit within the first week of the application opening, which is May 27th this year. Then make sure to have the secondary applications submitted within one to two weeks of receiving them. If you are feeling overwhelmed, don’t hesitate to reach out to me or another tutor for a FREE phone consultation. MCAT Self Prep also has an amazing Medical School Application course to help you get on the right track, and our admission consultants can help you meet these deadlines with ease and help with any aspect of your primary or secondary applications. We’ve seen massive success with the applicants that we work with. You want to do this right the first time! Good luck applying!
Warm Regards,

2024.05.30 06:22 rubygrey2021 50% Off All Readings On My Etsy!

Hi there! You can call me Ruby, I've been reading for under a year but found tarot as I was going through my own spiritual journey and picked it up rather quickly. My readings center around self reflection and a tool for insight rather then a way to predict the future. I never sugarcoat my readings and I'll always tell you how I see it in the cards. I love using tarot as a tool to help people, to show them areas they need to work on or giving advice or using it to help understand a person or situation better and giving guidance. It does occasionally take me a few days to get the reading out but I work two other jobs so I'm very busy and want to take my time with my readings because I like to go in depth! Right now I'm offering a special where you can purchase any in depth reading for 10 dollars 5 dollars!
I have other readings available as well and all my other prices are listed below in CAD so if you're american the prices will be lower then what I have listed (including the 10 dollar 5 dollar special). <3 If you don't see anything that suits your needs feel free to message me and we can work something out! Thank you for checking me out and I look forward to hopefully reading for you!
