2024.05.18 21:52 alexkon3 2024 Dungeons & Dragons first look and interview & The Art Of The New Dungeons & Dragons by Game informer

Tho I saw the link posted here because of the Aasimar reveal I thought we might discuss the two articles from game informer about "one DnD":
https://gameinformer.mydigitalpublication.com/publication/?i=821673
tldr of the article posted by u/Juls7243 over at /onednd
TLDR (pages 11-17)
Intro:
  • DnD developers are preparing a revision that is "fully compatible" with 5e.
Changing Times:
  • Tumultous period - licensing issues, challenges to get enough print copies, departure of division president Cynthia William.
  • These were juxtaposed against the success of Baldur's Gate 3, success of the 2023 movie release, and an evergrowing landscape of podcasts
  • New books are "far more than a window dressing" and do represent the team addressing all the lessons they've learned and heard from fan's over the last 10 years
New Approaches
  • First time that the lead designers of the new edition, were the lead designers of the previous one.
    • This enables the designers to flesh things out in a way that has never been done before
    • Designers know the detailed nuances of what they did/why a decade ago; they know what to preserve and what to change
  • Value Proposition: Better Organized, New Content, reworks of classes/backgrounds, addition of bastions, weapon masteries, and more
A Picture's Worth
  • A new intent to "help players contextualize and understand the content they're reading..."
  • The PHB includes 12 pictures (1 of each class) and 48 pictures of each subclass hoping to inspire players to pick one that inspires them
For the Players
  • Unlike previous edition that jumped right into character creation, the opening chapter is about playing the game and is filled with footnotes
  • The new version contains a RULES GLOSSARY (YES!!)
  • Bulk of book focuses on character creation
    • 75 feats (including origin creation ones)
    • 16 backgrounds (Hermit, Merchant, Noble... etc)
    • Species now replaces Race - (design team had to explain many time that race was not referring to human races, thus changed term for clarity). Aasimar, Goliath, and Orcs are present.
  • Equipment now contains weapons with weapon mastieries (Vex, Nick, etc).
  • Expanded tool list, and more details on crafting things like potions and scrolls
  • Spell list comes from 2014 PHB AND spells from other books.
    • Tasha's Bubbling Caldron will be in the PHB
  • Book is not written around the pretense of being in the Forgotten Realms, and is more realm agnostic and embraces Planescape, Spelljammer, Greyhawk etc.
Behind The Screen
  • Goal for DMG - make it an "indispensable resource in and out of play". The new DMG will "show not tell"
    • Will contain half page first draft adventure design for DMs to springboard off of
  • Book is a "tool box for ideas" and not only has magic items in it, but sample maps, and guidelines on encounter design
  • Bastion System will be an optional set of rules in the DMG - it has the goal of "give the players something at home they care about"
  • Full LORE GLOSSARY explaining key players across DnDs history
  • Details the world of Greyhawk (OG gameworld by Garry Gygax) as a template world for DMs to utilize
Monstrous Option
  • Biggest ever - 500 monsters - 75 brand new ones
  • Every single stat block has been changed
  • Monsters have the same CR as 5e - for backwards compatibility
  • Monster have "expanded families" to help the building out of ecosystems
  • Added a high CR vampire called "the Nightbringer" so that vampires can be used in higher level campaigns allowing for "clearer narratives"
  • Addition of "epic titan level" monsters that are on-par with the tarrasque
    • New monster: "Blob of annihilation" - a gelatinous cube that can eat an entire town (SO cool)
  • Large addition of NPCs of given themes - Bandits, Pirates, Mage etc that can be dropped in with no prep-work and a large spread of power levels.
The Monster Manual looks especially juicy. 500 Monsters compared to the 300 in 5th edition is amazing. The new ones look fun especially the giant Gelatinous cube. Wonder what all the 75 are going to be. I guess they will throw a lot of the monsters from previous publications in there like for example the gem dragons?
The other Article posted by Game Informer was about the Art of "One DnD"
https://www.gameinformer.com/2024/05/14/the-art-of-the-new-dungeons-dragons
Somethin thats also very exciting to me personally is again the talk about the new Monster Manual.
The 10 original Chromatic and Metallic Dragons were redesigned to better portray their biome and character. The designs for the Red and imo especially the Bronze Dragon look phenomenal in my opinion.
The art in the new core books has a chief goal of helping to further an understanding of the game. Spells are often shown being cast. Art for character backgrounds shows a possible place your hero could have come from. It even extends to the visuals of creatures in the Monster Manual. “There's a lot of mindfulness about the mixture; to pick the monster design accurately to the stat block,” says art director Emi Tanji. “If it's a creature that does slashing damage or something like you want to make sure we see claws. And you want to make sure if the art has shows something that's like a stinger, but there's nothing in the stat block – that would be weird, right?”
I wonder if that means that they made new art for all 500 monsters.
What are your thoughts. I actually think most of this stuff sounds quite exciting for a change tbh.

2024.05.18 20:30 roseohseven Long first time trip report 5/13-5/18!

LOOOONG first time trip report! 5/13-5/18, stayed at Beach Club, visited all four parks, bought Genie+ every day, had the standard DDP. Family of 4, two girls 5 and 9. I learned so much from this group over the past year and especially loved trip reports, so hopefully this post will be helpful to someone!
💲BUDGET💲
-- I booked the trip a year out so I could break it up into 12 manageable payments. I opened the no fee Disney VISA, which gives you several months of no interest on charges made towards Disney travel packages, rewards dollars to use at Disney, and a couple other perks like character meet and greets and discounts.
-- I signed up for Disney Movie Insiders. This is what you're supposed to do with all those little codes that come in Disney DVDs/Blurays. You enter the codes in exchange for points, and at 1000 points, you can redeem for a $10 Disney gift card. You also get points for being subscribed to Disney+, seeing Disney movies in the theater, their social media accounts, and a whole bunch of other things. I got $50 in gift cards from this alone.
-- If you want Disney-themed luggage, try thinking outside the box to save money! I got plain luggage in Mickey colors--red and black--and Mickey luggage tags to make them Disney themed.
-- I tried to budget for souvenirs via gift cards... but I failed, lol. Everything is so expensive, $100 is gone in a second. Plushes are like $40, coffee cups are $20, etc. Whatever you're planning to spend, double it! I get what people say about most shops having the same stuff, but it's definitely not all of them, most of the ones post-ride have unique stuff. And honestly it's kind of nice most of them have the same stuff, if you want to get whatever your kid was asking for earlier, you don't have to walk all the way back to the one shop you saw it at.
-- We paid for Memory Maker and I'm on the fence about it. On the one hand, it's really nice to get all the ride photos and meet and greet photos and magic shots. It's also really nice for the whole family to be in a lot of pictures and not have to swap with the other adult or find someone willing to take your picture. On the other, we definitely didn't utilize it as much as I wanted to because a lot of the photographers had pretty long lines and I just didn't want to spend time waiting for a picture I could take myself. If we came across someone with a shortish or no line, we made sure to get it, but for anyone with a long line, we just stood around the same spot and took our own.
🗓️PLANNING🗓️
-- If you have kids and live within easy driving distance of another amusement park, highly recommend making a visit BEFORE going to Disney to get an idea of how they handle that kind of day/environment, especially if they have never been. I quickly discovered we would absolutely need a stroller and I would need to be militant with the kids about staying hydrated. Also to avoid face paint, as heat + tears + paint + eyes = bad day! I felt so much better making these discoveries beforehand and being able to prepare accordingly, rather than making them at Disney.
-- USE AN AGENT! An agent is free to you, so why not have the help? Ours was amazing, she gave us quotes, booked the package, rebooked as needed later when a better deal came out, made all the payments, dining and extra reservations, and was just all-around awesome to work with. It was such a load off to know I wasn't on my own with all this stuff.
-- Watch everything Ear Scouts. No one explains Genie+ better, and Rob and Erick's videos are just so positive and beautiful and well done.
-- I also enjoyed reading Disney Tourist Blog--lovingly snarky but super informative!--and Disney Food Blog for fun tips and news.
-- I didn't find any park to be a half day park, we filled our whole day in every one and still didn't see everything!
-- My kids did really well, whenever they were on the verge of cranky, we had one ride in the stroller for a while, bought a snack (usually ice cream or popcorn), and used the bubble wand, and/or gave them some ibuprofen, and everyone felt better pretty quick. We never tried to do fireworks, we were all done by 8 so always left after dinner. The only park we closed down was EPCOT because we didn't get out of dinner until after close, and that was a really cool experience, the park was so quiet and empty and beautiful!
-- You don't NEED a Magic Band... but man, was it convenient. We just had 1.0 Magic Bands though, we didn't bother with the 2.0s.
-- I guess moving through security fast is important to people rope dropping... but as someone who didn't, it added like maybe 30 seconds to a minute to the experience the couple times my bag got flagged, it's really not a big deal.
-- I'm not saying anyone's lying about bad experiences or exaggerating or anything, but try to remember that far more people go on the Internet to complain than they do to praise. I got so stressed about all the things that could go wrong, and we had a pretty much perfect trip. The only attraction that broke down on us was Muppetvision, of all things. The only "bad behavior" we witnessed was the morning we were leaving, we could hear a dad across the hall yelling at his family, I think they overslept and were going to miss their flight or something? We just turned the TV on so we didn't have to hear him. A couple times we forgot to take our stuff with us when we parked our stroller or forgot some food in it, and neither people nor animals bothered it. The only dicey thing that happened to us was me dropping my phone into the Dumbo moat, the cast members fished it out and it still worked, I sent them a cast compliment for all their help! All the cast members were great, I'm not really sure what people expect but IMO they all do amazing for having to be peppy and helpful all day in absolutely blazing heat, walking a ride conveyer belt nonstop, repeating the same spiels over and over, meeting person after person, etc. I wouldn't last a 2 hour shift let alone 8. Cast members, you rock!!!
✈️TRAVEL✈️
-- We flew Delta, flight there was flawless, flight home was delayed by an hour waiting for crew and was a little bumpy (which is not great for a nervous flyer like me) but otherwise fine.
-- Get TSA PreCheck! Good for a few years, if the adults have it the kids have it too. It made the whole experience so much easier. That said, even PreCheck still moves kind of slow at MCO, so definitely get there at least 2 hours early for your flight. Use curbside check-in for bags, way faster than the long line inside!
-- On our agent's recommendation, we used Away We Go for ground transport in Orlando. They communicate really well, both ways were flawless, no complaints!
-- We used Minnie Vans to get to Animal Kingdom + Sanaa and Magic Kingdom, what a wonderful service! Definitely pricey, but they had cartoons on in the car, booster seats they set up for you, and the drivers were so nice and friendly and had fun trivia to share. I never had any problem requesting one when I needed it.
⛱️BEACH CLUB⛱️
-- We knew we wanted an onsite hotel where you could walk to at least one park. This pretty much limits you to a handful of Deluxe hotels or the Swan and Dolphin. Beach Club won for us because it's "in the Disney bubble" and you can walk to 2/4 parks. Note that while you can technically walk to Hollywood Studios, it is a LOOOONG walk. The boat is a nice not crowded alternative! We did not make use of Early Entry or Extended Hours, we're just not built for either. Beach Club was lovely, we booked a resort view but I think we ended up with a water view, we were right by the quiet pool and could see the water beyond from our room. Stormalong Bay was a little crazy for us but we loved the quiet pool. Best thing about Beach Club though is the location, EPCOT is literally steps away!
🌳ANIMAL KINGDOM🌳
-- We had read that there's really no bad day to do AK, so we started there. We rode: Navi River Journey, Flight of Passage, Kali River Rapids, Everest, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Triceratops Spin, and Dinosaur--so pretty much everything! With Genie+ we walked onto all of them. We also met Moana, Pocahontas, and Russell! The only thing we didn't do here that we wanted to was the Gorilla Falls trail, but we just ran out of time before the park closed.
🌐EPCOT🌐
-- We had read to avoid EPCOT on Fridays and Saturdays, so we went on Wednesday. We rode: Grand Fiesta Tour, Living with the Land, Nemo, Spaceship Earth, Imagination with Figment, Frozen, Remy, Journey of Water, and Guardians--everything we wanted! Again, with Genie+, we walked right onto everything! We also met Anna and Elsa! Tried a couple of Flower and Garden snacks: chicken and waffles, fruit and cheese strudel, and potato pancakes, all were delicious! Everyone had a different favorite day, but EPCOT was personally my favorite day, it felt like we were firing on all cylinders and the day just went really smoothly!
🏰MAGIC KINGDOM🏰
-- We had read that Wednesdays were the quietest days at MK, so we were originally going to try to do it that day, but we could only get a reservation for Cinderella's Royal Table on Thursday, so we switched it up. Definitely the most crowded of all the parks we visited, but I think that's just the norm for MK, everyone wants to go to the castle park with the most rides. We rode: Regal Carousel, Tomorrowland Speedway, Barnstormer, Magic Carpets, Mad Tea Party, People Mover, Dumbo, Small World, Little Mermaid, Pirates, Space Ranger Spin, Jungle Cruise, TRON, and Peter Pan. Again, with Genie+, we walked right onto everything! The only ride we missed at this park that we wanted to do was Pooh, I couldn't manage to get a return time that was earlier than we planned on leaving. Outside of our character meals (more on those in the dining section!) we also met Mirabel, Tiana, and Rapunzel! We had both the Rapunzel and Aurora ice creams, both so good and cute!
🎬HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS🎬
-- We had read that, like MK, it's better to do HS later in the week, so we went Friday. We rode: Slinky, Alien Saucers, Toy Story Mania, Rise, Smuggler's Run, Runaway Railway. Again, with Genie+, we walked right onto everything! The only ride we missed was Tower of Terror, again I couldn't manage to get a return time that was earlier than we planned on leaving. We also met Olaf, be aware Olaf doesn't sign stuff, they just give you a signature card. This park needs more shade IMO, especially Toy Story Land, I know it's supposed to be Andy's backyard, but I don't see why that means we can't have some shade from trees or something. 🤪 Blue milk from Galaxy's Edge was really good, the family was all fighting over it!
🍽️DINING🍽️
-- We almost certainly lost some money on the DDP, but I'm still glad we got it because it allowed us to do more table service meals and have less stress overall about expenses. We easily used up everything but child quick service credits, we had a few of those left over near the end.
Here's where we ate!
BOARDWALK DELI/PIZZA WINDOW: Pizza for the kids, sandwiches for the adults. Tasty and satisfying after our day of travel!
BEACHES AND CREAM: Got the kitchen sink for the experience, but honestly it's not great, all the ice cream and toppings melt together quick and you just end up with weird ice cream soup.
SAT'ULI CANTEEN: LOVED this place, everything was so yummy! Best quick service we had!
SANAA: Since Animal Kingdom closes so early, we thought we'd try to extend the experience by eating at Sanaa. What a great idea, we got seated right by a window and saw so many animals! The food was great too.
AKERSHUS: Our favorite princess meal! We met Aurora, Tiana, Snow White, Ariel, and Belle. They were all lovely, and the breakfast was really good too. Only 1 credit on the DDP!
GARDEN GRILL: Our kids really enjoyed getting to look down over Living with the Land and the fact that the restaurant spins. We met Farmer Mickey, Pluto, and Chip and Dale. They were fun and even came to our table more than once. Food was good!
SPACE 220: Not on the DDP, but wow, what a cool restaurant! Almost like a ride with the theming and the elevator up. Food was really good.
CINDERELLA'S ROYAL TABLE: You gotta eat in the castle! We paid for it OOP because we didn't want to use up 2 DDP credits here. You're really going for the location and the princesses, the food is kinda meh, not bad but not as good as other places. The restaurant is small and they have to turn tables quick, so it's very understandable to me that the princesses have to move fast. It's not that they rush you, they'll take all the pictures you ask for and sign whatever and answer your questions, but if you don't have much you need, they try to keep moving. Akershus is much bigger so they are able to be more relaxed there. The only small bummer is that we didn't see Merida (maybe she was on vacation too!) We did meet Cinderella, Ariel, Jasmine, and Aurora though!
CRYSTAL PALACE: We are not big on buffets but we enjoyed meeting Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore and Tigger!
TOPOLINO'S: Maybe the best food of the trip, steak and eggs were so good! The character artist costumes are so cute too. It was fun to have an excuse to ride the Skyliner to get here from Beach Club too.
DOCKING BAY 7: The theming is great, but the food wasn't as good as Satuli Canteen IMO.
THE MARKET AT ALE & COMPASS: We had quick service credits we wanted to use up on the last day and we didn't want to leave the resort again, otherwise I would have gone somewhere else, food was meh.
✨EXTRAS✨
-- I originally wanted to book Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for my kids, but it's so expensive/competitive that I decided to didn't want the stress. Instead I booked Have Wand, Will Travel to come to our room and bought dresses from Presley Couture and Only Little Once. I chose Have Wand, Will Travel because they keep character throughout. Fairy Godmother Elyse was amazing and so much fun, my kids loved it and kept talking about it all day!
-- That same morning I ordered a Sammicakes breakfast box with beignets for us to eat. I also ordered a pretend letter from Tiana on Etsy to make it seem like the breakfast came from Tiana. My kids also loved this and had fun telling Tiana about it both times we met her. Sammicakes was good but a LOT of food, sadly we didn't end up eating half of it. It can last you at least 3 days!
-- Matching shirts and ear hats, all from Etsy! So many cool designs there, hardest part is choosing!
-- Got my kids a pin trading lanyard with some pins, they loooooved pin trading! It was like free souvenirs.
🧳PACKING🧳
-- Things the Internet Told Me to Pack That I Needed: Scissors, ziploc bags, ibuprofen (kids and adults), garbage bags.
-- Things the Internet Told Me to Pack that I Didn't Need: stainless steel straws (the paper straws are more like cardboard, they really don't break down unless your kid is gnawing on them or something), ponchos (it did rain some most days, but wearing a poncho was almost more miserable than not wearing one, it's so hot and humid to be walking around in a plastic bag! We did better taking shelter and using umbrellas.), wipes (obv you need them if your kid is younger, but mine were older and just never got messy enough to need them.), glow sticks (we never stayed anywhere long enough to use them.) Basically, the less you can get away carrying in the parks, the better. It's annoying to lug stuff around you don't end up needing or using!
🛞STROLLER🛞
-- I know it seems insane that your 5 year old and 9 year old will need a stroller, but mine definitely did. Once I accepted that I was going to have to get one, I tried to make the best of it, and actually got really into decorating it so we could always easily spot it in the sea (the decorations also later made nice wall decor for a gallery of our trip!) The Magic Spotter flag was the best investment, hardly anyone had them so it was easy to instantly spot our stroller anywhere we left it, even if it got moved. That said, I definitely didn't want to spend a lot on a stroller we were really only buying for this one trip, so I got a used Joovy Caboose on Facebook Marketplace for $50. It was very hard to handle with two older kids in it, and even with one it was hard to handle unless the kid was in the back seat. So we basically used it like a single stroller, glad I didn't spend a lot on it since it was so hard to drive!
☔WEATHER☔
-- We had mostly great weather, it rained some every day except Magic Kingdom day but it passed within an hour each time. We wore socks with Crocs so that if/when it rained, we could just take our wet socks off and walk in our Crocs, this worked great! Don't trust the weather reports though, two days it wasn't supposed to rain. One day it actually didn't, the other day it did and we had to walk in wet shoes because we didn't wear the Crocs that day. Just figure it might rain any day and be prepared! See above note RE: ponchos being not great and shelter + umbrellas being better. When it didn't rain, It. Was. Hot. 🥵 In the 90s but definitely felt hotter with the humidity making it so sticky. We felt there was plenty of shade at Animal Kingdom and EPCOT, but hardly any at Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, which I would say slightly affected how much fun we had on those days comparatively.

2024.05.18 20:09 satietygel Death Note RP [M/M]!

Hi! Thank you for reading my ad. :) I may or may not be pushing my luck with this one, but I'm looking for a semi-literate/literate RP partner in the Death Note fandom.
I do not write CC x OC. I'm most experienced in writing for Matt or Near, and would love to find someone who could write Mello against either of them. I'd also be down to give Matt x Near or try. I know it's picky, but I'm not really interested in picking up any other characters because the Wammy's House dynamics are so close to my heart. Pairing aside, there's potential for good plots regardless of the ship we decide on. I have some ideas, but love to discuss back and forth so please be willing to work with me. I'm excited, so I want you to be excited too.
I primarily use Discord to roleplay, but would like to discuss on here first to see if what we want aligns. If you want a writing sample, I'd be happy to give you on. If you're interested and 21+ (I will not respond to you if you're younger, even if you're turning 21 in two days), please message me with a little bit about you and what kind of roleplays you'd like to try (au, canon, tropes, ship, etc.) Fingers crossed, I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Wore My First LV Purchase(s) When Graduating Yesterday!
I had been gifted my first LV items prior to my big day (Monogram Chain Necklace, Monogram Chain Bracelet, and Monogram Signet Ring, only the two latter of which I wore, seeing as I opted for a tie instead of the necklace), but as a graduation gift to myself, I added the Micro Damier Tie, Monogram Bold Tie Pin, and Initiales 40mm Reversible Belt to my collection! Oh, and I also wore Rhapsody, as I had been given a sample of it--definitely adding that scent to my collection when I get the chance! If you look closely in the second pic, you can see my bracelet peaking from under the sleeve of my gown... Now to put this degree to work, so I can get my first LV bag! Question is, crossbody, or backpack? 👀

2024.05.18 19:19 MobyDaDack Why are high levels becoming more and more elitists?

I loved this community in the start. Ppl fuckin up, laughing together and failing together. Trying out new weapons, seeing stuff go boom and feeling euphoria. Showing strategems and sharing support weapons.
At the start this community was such a fresh breath of air in a gaming enviroment in which games are usually meta focused and toxic.
Before I continue, yes I play 9 mostly and with randoms. Mostly with irl friends but also with randoms which I added after having awesome games together. And yes, I play off meta weapons (200 hrs logged in, have only failed like 3 lvl 9 missions in total that I can remember off)
But slowly Im seeing the meta take over in high level players. I see more and more ppl tellin others what to pick in Preparation, flaming already before the mission started. Tellin ppl this armour sucks and if he doesnt swap he will leave lobby. There are also other examples Ive seen in the past weeks even more childish ones. My Recoilless Rifle, me and a buddy of mine combine, was a dread for many.
I get it, wasting time and samples isnt a nice feeling when you fail missions because someone sucks. After the buffs to enemies its even more frustrating.
But YOU decided to play a COOP shooter on the hardest diffuculty and only with randoms. YOU decided to turn that pc/ps on to play in a grp with 3 randoms on highest diffuculty.
Instead of trying to add ppl so you can get a nice 4 man squad going in which you can organise loadouts for a level 9 mission, you complain on reddit about "noobs making my life harder"
We get it, its frustrating, noobs + nerf makes it harder. But YOU decided to play on hardest, diffuculty with 3 randoms. People complaining that AH should make level limits etc. are just absurd introverts never adding anyone and then wondering why a HARD COOP SHOOTER is suddenly too hard for them.
Add ppl and communicate, easy as it is.

2024.05.18 18:41 CubilasDotCom Korg Triton Extreme MPC Expansion

Korg Triton Extreme MPC Expansion
Hey friends!
I just finished putting together 1,344 patches comprising all of the factory banks A-D & H-N from the Korg Triton Extreme into MPC format. It’s a huge collection and I’m offering it for $75 this week. Each patch was sampled raw, then I added MPC effects, filters and envelopes to make each instrument play and sound like the original patch on the Triton.
It’s also available preinstalled on SD Card or USB Stick for a few more bucks.
You can also find each individual bank of 128 instruments here.
I’ve put a lot of time and effort into this huge collection of quality instruments and hope you enjoy them!
Keep Making Great Music 😎👍

2024.05.18 18:02 Dirly 1 month into Early Access Postmortem solo dev.

Hey all, so I'm just gonna get this outa the way... my grammar is atrocious so please excuse any stuff.

About Me:

I've been doing prototypes and working with unity for the past 7 years(off and on), never released anything prior to this so before I turned 41 I wanted to get something out there. I spent 1.25 year (hobbyist approach) on this title. Got laid off in the last 5 months of development so was able to put a little bit more time to polish prior to release (but the honey due list really sidetracked what I thought I could allocate to it).

Numbers:

  • Out of pocket costs: $800
  • Units sold: ~4500
  • Reviews: 96% positive 117 user reviews (not counting keys)
  • Wishlists into EA: 4.5k
  • Wishlists Outstanding 1 month into EA release: 14k
  • Conversion 10.9%
  • Return rate: 7.9%

Development

I saw a trend in games which were taking retro mechanics and pairing them with modern roguelites, such as dome keeper (digdug and missle command), peglin, and of course the survivor likes. So I decided to mash up a Brickbreaker, Galaga, Roguelite, called Against Great Darkness.
I picked a minimalistic pixel art style to cater to rapid development, and avoid my weakness (shading). I also made strict art guidelines to follow a duotone color pallet so everything was much simpler to develop and looked consistent. The art was probably the most positive feedback I got, though the simplified pallet had caused a need for me to make accessibility changes once people started to play the demo.
Coding was pretty straightforward but I will admit I absolutely over engineered some systems that I shouldn't have. Granted its easier for me to make content now that its where it is... I really could have just banged it out much quicker. My original thought was this would only take me a handful of months and here we are 1.2 years later.
Sound was probably the hardest for me. I found out that duelysts went opensource and scraped through their SFX files. Majority of the audio within my game is modified from there. For the music I luckily stumbled upon a fantastic composer that really helped out. I offered minimal direction and some samples, and he just made something that fit it perfectly.

Marketing

Steam page was up pretty early, launched without a trailer which I think took a lot away from it. From the get go I was only gaining roughly 5 wishlists a day.
First break came from getting a demo up and running on itch.io. I was able to get to the front page of itch for a little bit, which helped get noticed by alpha beta gamer, who wrote a small article about the game. That gained a few hundred wishlists. Itch absolutely helped refine the game more as well.
I streamed development on twitch. This was a major dumb luck thing which helped. I only had a handful of people watching but one day Piratesoftware just showed up in my stream and kind of took me in under his wings. He would occasionally raid my channel, netting in a couple hundred wishlists each time. He also offered for me to bundle my game with his on Steam which has helped out tremendously. He also helped during launch by streaming the game, and getting AdmiralBahroo to stream it as well.
Twitter helped quite a bit as well not for large likes but I was able to gain interest in my title with content creators. So wanderbots picked up on it. He actually played the demo prior to nextfest and gave a pretty good vid on the game, which made me really fix up my accessibility. He also did a vid just prior to launch. Esty8nine also helped and saw the game through twitter he provided some valuable takeaways that helped me refine my game much more. ClemmyGames also picked it up and listed it in the top ten for shmup fest as well as during my launch week as the hidden indie gem of the week. I did pay for one promotional tweet @SteamGamesPC after the game launched I think it netted a few hundred in sales. Was very cheap only like $10 and a steam key.
Reddit... oh boy did a bunch of reddit posts here and there. probably in total netted 1k wishlists. I focused on indiegaming, webgames, pixelart, and the sunday post at games. None of them really took off to much was on gaming at the top for like 2 hours then got permabanned.
Festivals these were big. Nextfest I did in october and that gained me probably 1k wishlists. I somehow got featured in steams promo reel for that nextrfest but it didn't really help that much. It did cause a few gaming news outlets to list my game in the upcoming nextfest articles but all it was a link. It did get some of the more prominent indiedev content creators to take a look and promote my game however. Outside of Nextfest was Shmupfest which also gained some interest with content creators in that genre. Gaining about 800 wishlists. There were 2 other festivals but they didn't provide a lot of traction.
I sent out keys roughly 40, got a handful of videos made from them so seemed like a success. Retromantic was probably the biggest one.
Other things I tried:
  • Tried tiktok... game wasn't tiktokable.
  • imgur did a few posts dont think it netted me much.
  • Also made posts in forums which focused on SHMUPs, don't think that gained me much.
  • Did the usual discord its fairly small but has decent participation.
  • Prologue, the game was too short for this in hindsight.
Overall I think I could have done more.

Publishers

I was courted by a bunch of publishers roughly 9. I didn't actively seek them out, was just through emails and them joining my discord. Ultimately since I didn't need funding I decided against it. In hindsight I may have been better off with taking up one of them.

Conclusion

I think for a first time game a lot of things went my way that I don't feel most get. It did make me realize how hard it is to get stuff noticed on steam even with all the things going my way. But I feel like for an EA title it is doing pretty well. I sell roughly 20 to 30 units a day now, and gain roughly 100 wishlists per day after releasing into EA. I don't want to be in EA for a long time, I feel like a lot of those wishlists will be converted once I release into 1.0. So I feel like just adding content and getting it to a larger content pool for a roguelite is what I really need to focus on. The median play time isn't to fantastic and would like to fix that. As well as spend some of the earnings on localization. In the meantime though I do need to find an actual job as the pocket change it is making isn't enough for me and my family to justify it being a full time gig for myself. But I will continue the hustle on the side, as its always been my dream to make games.

2024.05.18 17:51 Sa_Dagon What to do with slips / samples when maxed?

Hello reddit, SES Prophet of Integrity here.
Level 35, playing the game a bit every now and then. I just bought my last stratagem, so AFAIK I won't be able to use/spend slips anymore? I think I also lack just a few stratagem upgrades and I'll be maxed out there as well. I could only assume many of you are already in that spot :)
Is there any information already about potential options / sinks / investments? I have myself heard/read a few good ideas. Of course I am aware that there are things / bugs that need to be attended to with the highest priority. But at some point I think we should get some options to spend money/samples/whatever, so that we are still motivated to clear whole maps, etc. and just be happy with these small reward loops.
Don't get me wrong - I love the gameplay itself and I will be happy diving/clearing sub objectives even if I am not rewarded for that. The sole gameplay is fun enough for me.
BUT
The option to spend money/currency lategame is one of the multiple options that might make this game live long and prosper (together with a lot of other stuff, of course), as well as adding yet another layer of satisfaction/customisation/being engaged in the game, world, and the community.
So:
  1. Is there anything confirmed around spending currency late game when maxed out you guys might know of?
  2. If not, I am curious -> how important is this matter to you? How motivated you are to collect currency/do side quests in the game, even if you're capped/maxxed out? How happy would you be with additional options (see the list below for some inspiration)?
  3. What are some good ideas for money spending options / sinks (though some other redditors pointed out that "money sinks" have some negative associations, so feel free to call it any other way)? I remember some examples for the late game money sinks were:
1) Ability to buy / exchange currencies (buy samples/warbonds for slips, "upgrade" samples to a better rarity, etc) - already posted on Reddit, please ping we if you're the author so I can add your name 2) Have a community target - you could donate your currencies for the greater good - for Super Earth! - and we can get bonuses or unlocks for that. You could even dress it as a some kind of political lobbying mini-game, where depending on which side wins (or is winning), we're going more in one or another direction in the Galactic SuperWar / SE politics - already posted on Reddit, please ping we if you're the author so I can add your name 3) Be able to buy powerful, x-time use stratagems or upgrades - already posted on Reddit, please ping we if you're the author so I can add your name 4) Again, as a community donation - be able to increase budgets of other missions, such as giving lower level/difficulties ability to unlock stratagems or increase reinforcement budget etc. for a single operation 5) My personal favourite is personalization of our Super Destroyers. I know it's not easy from the development point of view, but just having a few static areas (lobby, engineering crew room, ammo rooms, comms room) which we could pimp up with cosmetics so that we can tour our friends and brag about it? Maybe create a small "museum"/achievement area where we could display something? Or having a lab for Super Earth Science Department to research/study all these things we have collected during the missions? The sky is the limit, we could literally add 2-d propaganda (err... I mean reality) posters or other decorations anywhere! 6) Be able to write dedications on the bombs etc. that Eagles are dropping like "Automatons Rot in Hell" or "Bye Bye Bugs" that would display while being dropped (of course picking only from the ones pre-approved by the Ministry of Truth). 7) Be able to rent out equipment that we don't own yet - like parts of different warbonds. This would also serve as a way to try out things (as we don't have shooting range or anything like that) 8) Be able to send gifts - either to friends, or maybe even to randoms that we just played with and had a good time? Send them a thank you card or a "Democracy is the best Dad" mug? 9) For the cosmetics part - I covered the one with Super Destroyers, individual ones. But what about being able to donate to different cosmetics/projects on the Super Earth as well (as real patriots would)? We could maybe then have an option to take a look at a high level hologram of Super Earth and see all the good things we donated to, such as highest building in the world (local headquarters of Ministry of Truth), SEAF schools, High-tech radio towers - on a some kind of a global/planetary holomap?
Last four ideas I just came up with while writing this list so I do believe that sky is the limit and introducing some of these could help us - the players - stay more vigilant and motivated :)
I'll probably EDIT the post with more ideas of my own, but please feel free to comment yours, so I can collect them under this list - even if only just for wondering "what could have been..."
Thank you for your service Helldivers, I hope you will be satisfied with my measle attempts to enable us donate more of our hard-earned currencies for the glory of the Super Earth!!
EDIT: edited the post to make it, hopefully, a bit more coherent

2024.05.18 17:42 signsfromhamaliel Looking for flexible desktop companion to Take 5

I’m finally ready to start looking for a companion synth to expand my setup! I’ve had the Sequential Take 5 for a little while now and am super excited about adding another piece of hardware to my setup to take my sound design options to the next level. I also have an SP404 MKII for sample management/live triggering during performance.
Right now, I’m looking very seriously at adding one of these pieces of equipment to my desktop;
For reference, I make ambient and experimental music for theatre and performance work, my solo projects, and with a band as well. I highly covet playability, flexibility, overall value, and versatility in the equipment I add to my setup.
I understand all the options I’ve presented offer pretty wildly different purposes and applications. I’ve watched the comparison videos, lusted over patches and sound design demos, and done a fair bit of research on each device and am just looking for subjective opinions on which device would take my setup to the next level/compliment the gear I already have.
Right now, I’m leaning toward the Peak because I love the form factor, hybrid architecture, and effects.
TLDR: Looking for a companion device/synth for a Take 5 and SP404 MK2 with a budget of ~$1000.

Mini haul including the Rare Beauty GWP (with swatches)
Long story short, I had previously bought the recently-released prada paradoxe set of travel spray + a miniscule perfume bottle modeled after the regular sized bottle. It's a great deal since both these bottles are in a set that cost the same price of the lone spray bottle that I was gonna buy before this release. However, my cat knocked over the travel spray from the top of my dresser and it broke. Considering that the spray was the only reason I bought this set to begin with, I was willing to buy it again. But of course, with my luck, the set was already sold out🫠 Hence, I ended up buying the travel spray alone and decided to FINALLY try the Rare Beauty tinted lip oil while I'm at it. I chose the shade Hope because I wanted a MLBB shade for daily use. I also saw the RB GWP and suddenly, the pain of having to pay the same price for the travel spray alone as the travel spray set, gradually subsided. I added two perfume samples to the mix and voila, this mini haul was born.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk 🫡

Hair and Fragrance Sale Haul (with Nancy)
I've been super sick with my seasonal allergies, so I appreciated getting my latest Sephora package for Nancy to review with me!
I bought one more Nest candle before the fragrance point multiplier event ended on Sunday. Nest candles are definitely my favorite, but the Sephoras near me don't have too many in-store. When I was at Bloomingdale's a few weeks ago, I smelled the testers they had that I could purchase from Sephora. Bamboo is one of my new favorites! I love the natural, fresh, clean smell. Unfortunately Nancy wasn't as into it lol.
I decided to get a refill of the Fable and Mane scalp scrub while it was 50% off. This is one of my haircare HGs! I love how it removes all the gross stuff on my scalp without being harsh. And the scent and packaging are added bonuses! Nancy actually didn't mind the smell of this, which is great too.
Nancy definitely had more fun with my samples than I did lol. She loves rubbing her face on the corners and sometimes bites them. 😹
  • Nest Mini Bamboo Candle
  • Fable and Mane SahaScalp Wild Ginger Purifying Scrub
  • Shani Darden Body Reform Treatment Serum GWP
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation sample
  • Eadem Cloud Cushion Airy Brightening Moisturizer sample

2024.05.18 16:09 gnalon Top NCAA returnees for 2025 Draft?

Most years there are 10-15 college non-freshmen chosen in the 1st round. A lot of those players will have been combine invitees from a previous year, but some come from further off the radar. Who are your top upperclassmen to watch going into next year, and who are some players who haven't shown up in any 2024 mock drafts for a while but you think might have a chance to break out and be picked in 2025? Some of mine:
Tamin Lipsey: I would've had him in the late 1st this draft. Jose Alvarado with more offensive juice would be the elevator pitch; Iowa State had the #1 defense in the country last year despite having no traditional shot-blocking big, and I think his offense is slept on where he should shift quite well into a complementary role alongside a wing/big who can handle in the NBA after being Iowa State's primary facilitator.
Myles Colvin: 6'5 2 guard for Purdue who shot 41.4% from 3 (3.6-8.7 per 40) in a limited role as a freshman, is decently athletic, and doesn't turn 19 until August.
Xavier Booker: About a year ago he was being talked about as a potential top 5 pick in 2024 because he had a good AAU weekend. His freshman year he didn't get much run, partly because he is in fact raw and partly because Tom Izzo typically doesn't play freshmen very much, but he's got a 7'5 wingspan, can run the floor, and has decent looking outside jumper for a young big (he wasn't shy about getting up 3s with 7.7 attempts per 40) he could blow up with added strength.
Carey Booth: Similar boat as Booker where he wasn't quite as productive in his minutes at Notre Dame (he's since transferred to Illinois) but is still 18 for another 2 months.
Kevin Patton Jr.: More of a wild card, he was freshman all-conference in the WCC for San Diego and is now in the transfer portal and attracting attention from schools such as Duke. He is listed at 6'8 and looks to have plus length, which manifested in stuffing the stat sheet to the tune of 6.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks per 40. Just needs to add strength and improve his outside shot (which is not in a horrible place for a freshman with 33.8% from 3 and 71.8% from the line) to be an NBA player.
JoJo Tugler: All defense and no offense, but he was the only freshman who earned PT for Houston and him breaking his foot in early March was definitely a blow to their title hopes. 10.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals, and 2.7 blocks per 40, and he'll be at the top of any draft class he appears in in wingspan differential.
Money Williams: Another young freshman who was still 18 during the season. His sample size is limited due to an injury, but as a 6'4 combo guard he averaged 25.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per 40. He finished the year just a shade under 30% from 3, but he shot 88% on free throws and got to the line at a super high rate for a freshman (8.2 attempts per 40), so there's definitely some dribble/pass/shoot to work with.

2024.05.18 16:06 JiggleMyHandle FR: Allow Combining Device+Protocol Combinations into Rooms

note: I also posted this over on the Roon forums: https://community.roonlabs.com/t/allow-combining-device-protocol-combinations-into-rooms/273649

Roon "Tiered Zones" (Rooms)

Many devices now have multiple protocols compatible with Roon (Wiim, Sonos, many others). Not all are compatible with each other. But enabling all protocols for all devices in order to have multi-room playback available in all permutations leaves a list of 20-30 devices in order to cover 8 or so rooms for me.
To me, it seems like a good solution would be to have priority based device/protocol selection within a zone/room. Then Roon just chooses the best protocol for the rooms currently being played to.

More details than are reasonable:

Layers:
Protocol (RAAT, Chromecast, Sonos, Airplay, etc)
Device (Wiim Pro, Google Home Hub, Sonos Roam, HomePod mini, etc)
Room (Kitchen, Office, Bedroom, etc) - this concept does not currently exist in Roon, but I'm suggesting that it should be.
Group (Upstairs, Downstairs, Outside) - this concept does not currently exist in Roon, but I think it would also make a nice addition on top of what I'm actually suggesting here.
Currently, all Roon Audio Zones are explicitly combinations of Device+Protocol. This is not ideal from the user end of things.

A sampling of device+protocol combos for some of my devices:

Wiim Pro (Plus)
  1. RAAT
  2. Chromecast
  3. Airplay 2
Sonos Roams
  1. Sonos Protocol
  2. Airplay 2
Google Home Hub
  1. Chromecast
Ropieee
  1. RAAT
  2. Airplay 2
Roon ROCK
  1. RAAT

Somewhat rambling details:

The problem, as I see it

Roon can currently play to any of these devices and protocols and that is great. But this means that if I want to be able to group my devices together, I need to enable all of the above protocols, multiple per device in many cases. So in my "zone chooser", I would wind up with roughly 3x the number of zones that I actually need. I've chosen not to do this and then just keep one device/zone per room (I've tried enabling all and labelling well and it's just too much). This leads to a strange calculations of which combinations of protocols and devices I am most likely to use together and there winds up not ever being the combinations that I want available.

This seems like a good solution

**I think that most people are looking to quickly pick what room or rooms they want to play to rather than what device+protocol they would like to play to. So it seems to me that a logical solution would be to allow users to setup "rooms" (or whatever label makes sense) where multiple device+protocol combinations are preselected to exist in a room. Then when a room is selected, the most appropriate device+protocol is selected by Roon, based on what other rooms are already grouped. **

How it might work

So if a single room is selected for playback, then the highest priority device+protocol is selected. If multiple zones are being selected, then the highest ranked protocol that is compatible with all of the rooms is selected automatically by Roon. If I'm playing via RAAT in my office (Wiim Pro), but then I want to group to my Kitchen where I've only got a Home Hub or HomePod Mini available, then Roon would allow this grouping, but would switch the Wiim over to Chromecast and would add in the Home Hub via Chromecast (because Chromecast gets higher priority than Airplay). One downside here is that playback would likely need to stop rather than have a smooth transition to adding the additional zone, but to me this is well worth it.

How it might be setup

For setup, I think this would make most sense to have the device+protocol-as-a-zone (as exists now) stay put as the default behavior. Just have each of these enabled zones default to being a single room. Then allow advanced options for users to start grouping device+protocols into rooms as they see fit. It's a more complicated setup process, but the end user experience will be so much LESS complicated. That's a big win for me. It also seems like it could be made a completely optional setup step for people with more homogenous setups (e.g. Sonos only households).

Can't cover what isn't there

When grouping rooms, any room that is not compatible with ANY of the protocols supported by the sum total of all currently grouped rooms would still need to be greyed out and unavailable. e.g. My Sonos speakers would never be able to be grouped with my Google Home Hub (though in my case, Roon could fall back to the HomePod mini that I have in the same room as the Home Hub).

Also, groups would be cool too (but seems very much like a second, separate step to me)

This would also feed in well to a "groups" feature as an additional layer on top of rooms. Upstairs = bedroom 1, bedroom 2 and bathroom. Downstairs = kitchen and family room. Outside = Patio and garage.

2024.05.18 14:28 JustJoyousForNothing TTC for ~3 years now, multiple FETs and fresh transfers - failure. Feeling totally lost. Need help/suggestions/advice.

Hi everyone,
Me (F, 33) and husband (M, 33) have been TTC for ~3 years now, 1.5 years with IVF treatment. Never conceived/got pregnant yet. I have been quietly lurking in the subs here and some of your posts/comments have been helpful in many ways. This is my first post here.
History/tests done and results for me so far: Normal TSH, DHEA-S 294.8 ug/dl, AMH 1.21 ng/mL (low for my age?!). Have PCOS. No abnormal gene carrier, normal karyotyping results, no Lupus, no Anticardiolipin Ab, no HBSAg, no autoimmune diseases. HyCosy/HSG/MRI revealed left fallopian tubes was blocked and had adhesions along with the left ovary. Also learnt through the IVF cycles that my left ovary doesn't do much - barely any eggs retrieved from the left ovary, most eggs are coming from my right ovary. I also had surgery to remove polyps and uterus septum before any IVF cycles. I also had low Vit D for ~3 years, at normal levels now with taking regular supplements. Now I am actively trying to lose some weight to see if it helps (??!!) - weight in March 2024 was 196 lbs., current weight is 182 lbs. (height is 5'3"). Trying to lose more weight - walking 10K steps a day, focusing more on protein intake, low carb, clean eating no junk.
History/tests done and results for husband so far: 1 out 3 tests showed slightly abnormal sperm morphology. Sperm DNA Fragmentation Assay (SDFA) score 19 (borderline between 'normal odds' and 'reduced odds' of success). No abnormal gene carrier. Normal karyotyping results. No autoimmune diseases.
Supplements/medications I am taking: Prenatal, Vit D, Vit C, CoQ10, Omega3, Alpha lipoleic acid, Seed probiotics, Metformin.
Supplements/medications husband is taking: Multi-vitamin, Vit D, CoQ10, Omega3
IVF retrieval and transfer history/timeline:
1st retrieval in May 2023: Used GonalF 375 IU, MenoPur 150 IU, Cetrotide 0.25 mg. Trigger with 10,000 IU HCG. Retrieved 10 eggs, only 1 of those could be frozen after PGT-A. Used ICSI for this cycle.
FET in July 2023: Used oral Medrol, oral and vaginal estradiol, crinone progesterone vaginal gel once a day and PIO every 3 days. Transferred 1 PGT-A tested Day 5 embryo (4BB) - ended in chemical pregnancy.
2nd retrieval in end of Sept 2023: Used Clomid flare, GonalF 450 IU, MenoPur 150 IU, Cetrotide 0.25 mg. Trigger with 10,000 IU HCG. Retrieved 10 eggs, only 3 of those could be frozen after PGT-A. Used ICSI, Zymot for this cycle.
Fresh transfer in Oct 2023: Used only Crinone progesterone vaginal gel once a day. Transferred 1 untested Day 5 embryo - No implantation.
FET again in Nov 2023: Used oral Medrol, oral and vaginal estradiol, crinone progesterone vaginal gel once a day and PIO every 3 days. Transferred the remaining 2 PGT-A tested Day 5 embryos (4AB and 5AA), also used embryo glue - No implantation.
Doc suggested removing my blocked left fallopian tube -- had laparoscopic salpingectomy surgery in Feb 2024. Took uterine tissue biopsy samples during surgery - normal results, Doc mentioned no endometriosis.
3rd retrieval in April 2024: Used Lupron 10 IU, GonalF 300 IU, MenoPur 300 IU. Trigger with 10,000 IU HCG. Retrieved 8 eggs, 2 of these made it to blasts, none frozen. Used PICSI for this cycle. I was also on Dexamethasone.
Fresh transfer in May 2024: Used only Crinone progesterone vaginal gel once a day. I was also on Medrol, baby Aspirin and Doxycycline. On top of this, I added Pepcid, Claritin, Benadryl. Transferred 2 untested Day 3 embryos - No implantation (got beta result yesterday, also got my periods right after the blood draw in the morning, was devastated).
I have also tried eating pineapple core, beet+pomogrenate juice, McD fries, sex the night before transfer - all of it.
I am at a loss, I do not know what to do now. I am sitting and sobbing here as I am writing this. Thankfully, my insurance covers most testing and procedures, except PGT-A and my medication has copays. But this process is so emotionally draining. My husband is super supportive and tries to keep a positive vibe all the time, but I feel bad for us. Also, it is so hard to keep a nice face at work - no one (family, friends, colleagues) knows we are TTC with IVF.
What are we missing here? I feel like I have implantation issues? Any more testing? What else can I do?
Please let me know what worked for you, what more can be done in my case to have a successful pregnancy. ANY help is appreciated. TIA.

2024.05.18 13:49 Shaskais Interesting bits from the 10th Chaos Space Marine codex

The bits:
-Not only does the flesh of Chaos marines fuse with their armor, but their minds also fuse with the machine spirits of their wargear. A Chaos Marine's armor will mutate and be reshaped by the Warp taint to reflect his obsessions and their affinity/allegiance to the gods of Chaos.
-Following the Scouring and the exile to the Eye of Terror, none of the Traitor Primarchs were interested in unifying the Traitor Legions. Mortarion and Lorgar mostly shunned Real Space. Mortarion busied himself in reshaping his Daemon world into an image of his destroyed homeworld Barbarus. Lorgar self-exiled himself to the Daemon world of Sicarus. Magnus focused his attention on curing his legion from their curse of mutation. Fulgrim lost himself in a spiral of excess and pleasure. Perturabo fixated on pursuing his vendetta with the Imperial Fists rather than the pursuit of grand conquest. And so with no unifying leader, the traitor legions were fragmented by infighting and the cruel whims of the Chaos Gods.
-When Abaddon rose as Warmaster, he resolved to learn from the mistakes of his genesire. He swore to never bend the knee to the gods of Chaos, and to never sell his soul to them no matter how tempting their offers of powers. Abaddon refused to surrender his morality for immortal power and guarded it well.
-The 13th Black Crusade hasn't ended. It's reaching its peak in the Indomintus Era. Though Cadia had fallen, the war for the Cadian Gate continues. Furthermore, Abaddon is expanding his warfront elsewhere such as the Nachmund Gauntlet. These are but a few of the schemes Abaddon seeks to enact to topple the Imperium. Should Abaddon succeed in them then the power of Chaos will be unleashed from the Warp toward Terra itself.
-With each conquest, Abaddon paved a path toward Terra. However, what was unknown for the rest of the galaxy was his plan to unpick the veil between the Materium and the Warp. For thousands of years under the cover of false objectives and even entire Black Crusades Abaddon sought out and destroyed the Pylons wherever he found them. Sometimes he did so personally, other times via his agents, or by using the Planet Killer and the Blackstone Fortresses.
-The Fall of Cadia was the culmination of Abaddon's millennia-spanning grand plan, a plan that tied together the events of Pandorax, the Siege of Fenris, and others. The Great Rift was born, flooding the galaxy with the stuff of the Warp. Acting as his vanguard the traitor legions and renegade warbands smashed their way through the Cadian Gate and emerged on the other side. The traitor forces brought destruction and bloodshed to world after world empowering the Warp and causing the daemonic legions to follow in their wake. Invasion after invasion, the Crimson Path expands toward Terra.
-The Chaos Gods and their legions believe that the fall of Terra and the destruction of the Emperor would be the ultimate prize, the conclusion of the war between the Materium and the Immaterium. Yet, Terra's fall is one part of Abaddon's plan for vengeance, not the end. Abaddon is aware that the ultimate victory of the Chaos Gods would be bad for his mortal self so he has no intention of depending on the Chaos Gods in achieving the victory he seeks. For now, Abaddon is all too content to have the forces of Chaos carve a path toward Terra.
-In the Age of the Great Rift, the forces of Chaos are prowling the stars in numbers not seen since the HH. Not even the Imperium Sanctus is safe from their wrath. However, it's in the Imperium Nihilus where they are at their strongest. Isolated from each other and shorn from the guiding light of Terra, the isolated bastions of the Imperium are being beset by the forces of Chaos from within and without. The overstretched defenders of the Imperium still valiantly attempt to stem the overwhelming tides of Chaos, chief among them are Dante and the returned Primarch the Lion who rage against the encircling darkness. Yet their efforts are nothing but futile gestures. Candles of hope set before a raging inferno of hate.
-Roboute launched the Indomintus Crusade to save the Imperium from collapse yet even this colossal assemblage of Imperial might cannot hope to repel every Chaos incursion. Conflicts are flaring up in every Segmentum of the Imperium and in each the influence of the Despoiler can be felt.
-Though Chaos is ascendant gutted on conquest and slaughter, Abaddon knows that he must maintain the momentum of his Black Crusade by feeding it constant conquests and victories or else risk his forces fragmenting before he could topple the Imperium.
-Abaddon and the Black Legion value value renegades from the Space Marine chapters who join their ranks. These turncoats bring them an abundance of information about the Imperium and its defenders allowing Abaddon's formidable intellect to fashion accurate and complex plans that inflict the maximum damage to the Imperium. In the past it allowed the Black Legion to deceive sector fleets, steal geneseed from loyalist chapter strongholds, and strike at key industrial zones.
-Lord Iordax Quan is one of the most singularly dedicated Black Legion commanders to the cause of destroying the Imperium. His focus on the Long War resulted in him rejecting the blessings of the Dark Gods and surrounding himself with fellow true veterans of the Long War whose thirst for vengeance remains undimmed. His focus, his dedication, has led to Abaddon deploying him to crucial warzones. He is currently serving in the Cadian system purging the last Imperial holdouts.
-Solomon Akurra the character from Mike Brooks' novel "Harrowmaster" is mentioned in the codex. Akurra had seized control of the Serpent Teeth's warband and now commands the mobile Star Fort the Unseen. He gathered around him a loose alliance of Alpha Legion warbands that he dubbed the Ghost Legion. In his burning desire to take the fight to the Imperium, he is exploiting the sorry state of the Imperium to add to its misery. Using his strategic mind and the sinister skills of the Alpha Legion, Akurra had deceived entire systems to swear allegiance to the Ghost Legion further destabilizing the Imperium. The majority of the Psyphos subsector is now under his rule. Yet this is merely the start of the seeds of anarchy he will plant in Segmentum Pacificus.
-When the Great Rift opened, the three stars of a system close to the galactic core and bordering the territories of the Greater Thurian League were swallowed up by the expanding Warpstorm known to the Kin as Orgvayr. The surging Warp energy resulted in the trio of stars going supernova at the same time creating a nebula of tainted clouds of astral debris riddled with Warp rifts which acted as refuge for many Chaos warbands including the Iron Warrior warband known as Abrial's Claw. The determined Iron Warriors took to besieging the mighty strongholds of the Kin and several fell before them.
-The short story "The Traitor's Tarot" from the 9th ED CSM codex is again here in the 10th Ed codex. They added four images to accompany the paragraphs that described the heretical artwork. I appreciate rereading the short, it's a good story but I would have very much liked a new story to come with the new codex. You get me?
-Traitor fleets have no fear of the raging tides of the Warp. They sail through and from even the hearts of Warpstorms. The remarkable ease with which the heretics are navigating the turbulent Warp makes it seem that the hands of the Chaos Gods protect them as they emerge over their prey worlds. Within the darkness of the Imperium Nihilus, the traitors have enacted butchery and atrocity of epic proportions on the isolated worlds of the Imperium. The luckiest of their victims are those who meet quick ends. Those who survive face a fate worse than death at the hands of the heretics.
-Worse still for humanity, within Nihilus many of the traitors' unnatural abilities and blessings are being empowered. Their wargear swell and blaze with the power of the Chaos Gods and their sorcery are reaching new levels of dark majesty and potency.
-The isolation of Imperial territories in the Imperium Nihilus made many Imperial worlds and systems believe that they are the last of humanity. Some broke off from Imperial rule and transformed into their own kingdoms and nations. The decline of Imperial faith soon saw these independent realms and worlds rot from the inside out as the insidious whispers of daemons spread to the populace and Chaos cults flourished.
-Traitor empires are rising in the Imperium Nihilus. Worlds that had once served the Imperium now fuel the warbands and legions of Chaos with their resources and industry. Abaddon has a hand in the creation and location of some of these heretical empires. It's unknown whether these empires are part of some scheme of his or are merely a vision of a galaxy under his rule.
-Vashhtorr's origins are unknown, forgotten by history. It's possible he was created by the technological and scientific advancements of the DAoT, spawned by the galaxy-shaping technology of the Old Ones, or came to being when primitives first mastered fire and created sharp tools.
-Vashtorr and Perturabo enjoy a beneficial but less than friendly relationship with each other. They cooperated in many nightmarish projects. The Daemon Primarch has regularly allied his Iron Warrior warbands with the Arkifane.
-Wyrmwood is a perversion of the tunneling devices used by the Old Ones to create the Webway. It's the Key for the Lock of a vault that contains a godly weapon capable of altering the fate of the galaxy. In search for the lock, Wyrmwood carves its way through the Webway and Real Space in an insane pattern known only to Vashtorr. Wyrmwood is unrestrained by the laws of time and space. The Imperial agents are struggling to catch up to Wyrmwood as it emerges into sectors across the breadth of the galaxy. The daemon world is crossing vast tracks of space in mere hours, that would have taken Imperial fleets months to sail through. By the time Imperial fleet heeded distress calls and arrived at Wyrmwood's reported location, the daemonic world engine would have long departed having left behind nothing but ruined worlds and tears in reality.
-Even the Asuryani, who are enraged at the corruption of the Webway technology and fearful of the damage Wyrmwood will inflict on the Webway tunnels, are struggling to track down Wyrmwood. Their seers are unable to crack the code of Vashtorr's insane search pattern. Only Craftworld Altansar, due to their bitter experience with the Warp and its mutilation of reality, are making progress in tracking Wyrmwood. However, thus far, the Asuryani's efforts to draw Vashtorr into battle were met with dismal failure.
-Reports hint that Wyrmwood is about to appear in the Pariah Nexus. Other reports hint that it will appear in the Ghoul Stars. What is certain is that nowhere is safe from Vashtorr's wrath.
-Vashtorr is a timeless being. Linear time is of no consequence to him. While the efforts of his foes might delay his search, he will have his prize sooner or later.
-Vashtorr has near limitless control over technology. The nature and origin of the technology do not matter to Vashtorr, his understanding is without limit. Vashtorr can unmake or take control of any device created by mortal hands with a mere gesture.
-Within the superstructures of the Soul Forges nests the daemon engines known as the Venomcrawlers. They hunt and down devour daemonic entities that get discarded by Warpsmith and Masters of Possessions. The raging essences of these consumed entities power the daemon engines' weapons. When daemonic prey becomes lacking Venomcrawlers start hunting the Soul Forges' heretic marine masters to keep themselves fed.
-The Dark Mech provides the hosts of Chaos with armor, weapons, daemon engines, and even battle fleets. Without the Dark Mech the armies of Chaos might grind to a halt.
-While the physical shells of captured Imperial war machines are desecrated and reshaped into horrific forms, their machine spirits are sent to the Soul Forges within the Warp to be driven to madness.
-Some Soul Forges are rumored to predate mankind, that they are eternal and ruled over by unknowable entities.
-The captive daemons are dragged screaming by ropes fashioned from the hair of murderers and chains of bones into the Soul Forges where Warpsmiths bind them into daemon engines and then bludgeon them to submission with runic wards and rituals.
-Abaddon is not only feared by the High Lords of Terra. Within the halls of the greatest Xenos Empires, the Warmaster's name invokes fear.
-So mighty has Abaddon become after 10K years that only the Daemon Primarchs could challenge his position. Yet these figures are too focused on their pursuits to risk war with the Despoiler and his vast legion.
-Only Abaddon can unite the forces of Chaos. To do so is a continuous fight for the Warmaster especially when marshaling allied forces whose allegiance belongs to their gods alone. Getting these opposing servants of the Chaos Gods to set aside their rivalries not only for a short period of time but for years is proof of his supreme willpower and the high regard and fear felt toward him by the traitors even by those who hate him and wish him to fail.
-Haarken was once a Night Lord. His ruthlessness saw him rise to the command of the Night Lord warband known as the Gloomtalons. Haarken would lead his warband into raids on the worlds of the Imperium. He would always proclaim his coming victory and a world's doom on the vox broadcasts before leading his formation of raptors through the night sky to butcher any who foolishly resists and make examples of them. Haarken would kidnap the leaders of Imperial worlds and give them the choice of swearing fealty to him or suffering a prolonged agonizing death. Through a network of spies, Haarken ensured the Imperial leaders who bowed before him were kept in line. Thus Haarken grew rich in wealth and plunder. However, despite his successes as a pirate and raider, he found no satisfaction. He felt empty. His black heart yearned to strike a lasting blow against the Imperium.
-Haarken prayers were answered when Abaddon's attention fell on him. During the muster for the fifth Black Crusade, Abaddon offered the Haarken the honor of fighting alongside his Black Legion. Abaddon was straightforward with Haarken. He did not promise Haarken riches and plunder but the chance to strike a telling blow against the hated Imperium. And if he served well Abaddon would grant him further chances to bleed the Imperium. It was as if Abaddon peered through Haarken's soul and fulfilled his deepest desires. Haarken then and there knew he was standing before greatness, a warlord with the strength, charisma, and vision to bring the Imperium crashing down.
-During the battle for the city of Kasyr Lutein, Haarken and his Gloomtalons flew ahead of Abaddon and his Black Legion. Haarken unleashed unspeakable acts of violence and terror on the defenders of the city. The demoralized Imperials were annihilated by the combined might of the Black Legion and the Night Lords.
-Ultimately, the Fifth Black Crusade came to an end and the traitors were forced back to the Eye of Terror. However, the Imperials paid a terrible price to do so and the Elysian sector was ravaged. Having witnessed firsthand the supreme might and leadership of Abaddon, Haarken bent the knee to the Despoiler and donned the black and gold of the Black Legion. Since then Haarken carved a place for himself among the vanguard of the Black Legion eventually earning himself the title of the Worldclaimer for the countless worlds he conquered in the name of Abaddon.
-Abaddon acknowledged the loyalty and good service of Haarken by bestowing upon him the title of the "Herald of the Apocalypse" and the Helspear, a weapon that befits his new position as Abaddon's mouthpiece.
-Haarken is wholly devoted to Abaddon and his cause. From the Nachmund Gauntlet, he is committed to tearing a path toward the Sol system. He yearns for the day when he would drive his spear into Terra's surface and proclaim the end of the rule of the False Emperor.
-The Iron Warriors honor the Chaos Gods as a pantheon, though few among their number are truly devoted. Their true loyalty belongs to their Daemon Primarch whom they believe saved them from being sacrificed by the Emperor.
-Many Chaos warlords look down on the methods of Alpha Legion, but Abaddon does not. Abaddon appreciates their skills and makes good use of them. More than once the Warmaster employed the Alpha Legion to sow discord and anarchy before his invading fleets. However, Abaddon knows that the Alpha Legion are dangerous allies for their goals and true motivations are closely guarded secrets.
-Despite the revulsion and mistrust Abaddon feels toward the Word Bearers for reminding him of the shameful depths Horus fell into in his worship of the Chaos Gods. he had made common cause with them on many occasions. The effectiveness of the Word Bearers as warriors, both possessed or not, is something the Warmaster cannot deny. It's a source of strength he cannot afford to discard. Lorgar for his part sees Abaddon as a tool to spread the Word of the Ruinous Powers to the very heart of the Imperium.
-Most Night Lords do not seem to worship the Chaos Gods in the same degree as the other traitor Legions. They fight only for material gain and personal pleasure. They look down on fanatical marines, be they worshipers of Dark Gods or the False Emperor. They place their respect not in faith but in strength, strength and terror.
-The Night Lords will fight for any cause as long as the plunder is good and they have ample opportunity to inflict as much bloodshed and anguish as they can. This made some Night Lords warbands pledge their service to alien warlords.
-After the birth of the Great Rift, the Red Corsairs have become experts in navigating the border regions between Warpstorms and Real Space. They established secret bases in the liminal zones. One of them is a significantly large base called the Tyrant's Gate in the Imperium Nihilus. Every sin and vice is indulged on that world. The world is orbited by weapon shops, docks, and defense platforms. Within the Warp, a sorcerous anchorage allows the battleships of Chaos to translate directly from and to the planet's orbit swiftly.
-Imperial reports that Huron Blackheart was spotted in two Segmentums at once seem to all but confirm that he struck some sort of bargain with the Chaos Gods.
-In exchange for his skill, Fabius had struck bargains with Chaos warlords, including the Daemon Primarch. He favours no client over the other, not even his gene-father.
-In recent years, Fabius has acquired samples from the Primaris marines and the Custodes. What he intends to do with them is unknown.
-The daemon Q'o'ak the Boundless is said to have drawn the ire of his master Tzeentch by meddling in his plans. To rid himself of Q'o'ak's ceaseless meddling, Tzeentch bound him to a weapon. Each time the weapon clashes with an enemy blade, the enemy falls victim to Q'o'ak temporal tampering. How Q'o'ak traverses time while imprisoned within the weapon remains unknown but with each soul he pulls from the web of fate a fresh plume manifests from the weapon's hilt.
Emeys Varran, the Apostle of Discordance, is unusually zealous in his devotion to Dark Gods for a trusted lieutenant of Abaddon. Despite his zealous faith in the Chaos Gods, Varran's true loyalty lies with Abaddon and the Black Legion. He is one of the Warhamer's few trusted confidants. Varran holds an intense and violent hatred toward the Sisters of Battle after losing his left eye to a neural wipe during the siege of the Chaos Knight World of Dharrovar. Abaddon dispatched Varran to aid Haarkin in seizing control of the Nachmund Gauntlet.
The Vashtorr and Black Legion vs T'au short story:
The world that Vashtorr manifested upon had a half-destroyed ancient city. Within the city was a temple whose structure was etched with daemonic scripture. This was Vashtorr's target. The T'au presence on the world was an unexpected complication. The T'au were giving the traitor and heretic forces stiff resistance and barring their way to the temple. The T'au in their determination to cling to the world had littered the battlefield with the Black Legion dead. Yet Vashtorr knew that the mortals' resistance was futile. Wyrmwood was entering into alignment over the world and it would seal their doom.
As Wyrmwood completed its alignment, the planet's surface quaked and monolithic structures erupted from the earth. This disordered the T'au lines and forced them into a fighting retreat. The Black Legion and Vashtorr's tech cultists pressed the attack.
Vashtorr could sense the call of the Warp-tainted relic, how it begged for release. He made his way to the temple but found T'au stubbornly standing between him and it. The Black Legionaries, daemonic engines empowered by Vashtorrr and his servants, and a horde of cultists fell on the T'au. Vashtorr himself joined the fray. With a gesture, he turned the energy of a force field that protected a squad of fire warriors against them. The fire warriors screamed as their armor melted and their skin was seared. The Black Legion marines finished off the reeling survivors with their chainaxes and bolter stocks.
T'au reinforcements sent from their orbiting fleet joined the battle. Battlesuits, tanks, hovering barricades, and aircraft plunged from the skies. The firepower of the T'au scythed through cultists and marines alike.
Vashtorr waded into the T'au lines with his hammer, pulping and smashing the Xenos aside. With a gesture, he unmade a T'au skimmer from within causing it to crash into a trio of battlesuits and explode. Through the flames, he strode toward the temple's entrance only to find his way barred again.
A T'au suit descended down in front of Vashtorr. Its pilot uttered a warcry before shooting Vashtorr. The shots impacted Vashtorr causing him to stagger back slightly. Vashtorr examined his form where the shots were hitting him. His daemon flesh was being burned away revealing the cogs beneath and his form was flickering.
Vashtorr extended his wings and was carried toward his Xenos foe by unholy energies. As he fell upon the battlesuit he projected his voice into its communication system telling the pilot that he was being so proud of the ingenuity of his technology, he was so reliant on the mechanical.
Vashttorr smashed down the battlesuit with his hammer and hit it again and again until he cracked its armor. Then pinned it down with his hoof. From his form tentacles emerged and wormed their way into the suit. Vashtorr poured a fragment of his power into the battlesuit and willed it to be unmade. Even though the pilot's soul was weak and small, he could still feel their fear.
Vashtorr stepped away from the battlesuit's wreckage and strode again toward the temple. As ever mortal resistance was nothing more than obstacles to be overcome by a being of infinite patience such as he. He will find the Lock and then reality itself will tremble before him.

2024.05.18 12:50 LastKardax Reflecting on Novelty and Design in TFT Sets: Insights and Thoughts on the Past and Future.

Hey everyone! I'm a TFT streamer and Competitive player, hit challenger every set since 4 (not this set! I'll tell you why). I've never posted on Reddit, but I felt like I had too many things I wanted to break down and have a conversation about. These thoughts were just too much for a Twitter post, and I'm really curious to hear how everyone else in the community feels :)! (PS. I posted this on TFT Reddit, but was told to post it here too since it's rooted in competitive TFT)
Disclaimer: I love everyone at the TFT team, and have immense respect for everyone on it, and I know for a fact they all strive to make a product they are proud of. This post is out of love for the game.
  1. Novelty in TFT / Set Mechanics: Regarding Novelty in TFT / Set Mechanics: In recent sets, it's clear that the TFT team is determined to create unique and memorable moments for players, which I appreciate. However, in their pursuit of these moments, they seem to have lost sight of the essence that made TFT so magical from the start.
We can all agree that Set 10 was a huge breath of fresh air coming off the turbo-boring set that was 9.5 where everyone equipped URF legend and popped tome 2-1 and prayed. Set 10 is, in my opinion, one of the greatest sets ever designed. Everything aligned perfectly and harmoniously (music pun!), the unit and trait design was near flawless, the set mechanic was a huge upgrade to Set 4/4.5's Chosen mechanic, and the 5 Costs really did feel like premium units. It was a homerun for TFT. (The numbers show that too for all you numbers people)
Moving on from 10 and coming into 11. It was glaring to me that in an attempt to reach the destination of creating novel moments in TFT they took the wrong road. Encounters might just be one of the worst types of game mechanics to ever exist (second only to shadow items). It's a disaster lottery draw every single time it shows up that you dread won't destroy the path that you calculated was the most optimal path based on what you've gotten so far in terms of units, items, augments, etc... The main reason why Encounters are bad game design is because they take away player agency in an unhealthy way. That doesn't mean that there can't be potential encounter type mechanics that borrow player agency that are healthy. It just means this one is bad. It's a lot of quantity over quality and it leaves the player in this weird middle-ground where they're not too impactful to create a sense of excitement and awe when they pop up, but they're just useful enough to be extremely annoying when they don't benefit you at all, and accelerate other people's boards. (Obviously this isn't ALL encounters, but definitely most)
  1. Unit and Trait design: Set 11 brings some of the most lackluster / boring feeling units and traits I've ever had the un-pleasure of playing. If you named all your favorite TFT units / Traits of all time do you think any of set 11's Units / Traits would make it into your S-Tier category? (Maybe Lissandra, but she's just a worse Set 6 Tahm Kench lets be real) and apart from the idea behind Exalted (It needs more work, but can be an amazing way of introducing infinite comps) not much in Set 11 stands out to me on that front. I'll delve deeper into a few things I don't want to bloat this post, but just know there's a lot more. Kayle is one of, if not the worst summon unit we've ever had in TFT.
  2. The idea behind build your own summon unit is fantastic and I genuinely hope they give this another go, but the execution was suboptimal at best. Sets 3 / 4 / 6 / 10 All had extremely life-like and memorable summons Giant Mech Garen that thrusts down sword into the arena, Giant Galio slamming into the arena and punching units to death, Bears and dragons to buff your team and fight alongside you, and even a Hecarim that gallops onto your board and buffs your team and slashes enemies. Summoned units SHOULD feel, sound, and look impactful, and not act like any unit I could buy from the store. Or else they just end up being a glorified 2 cost. Stats aside (I love stats, but this post isn't about them), my primary aim is to ensure a fun game before delving into statistical analysis. Kayle feels like a filler unit that you mostly just plop in the back and forget about, doesn't do much unless you hit the crazy (mostly unobtainable) 10 Piece trait. Speaking of unobtainable traits. It seems to me the TFT team has come up with this bandage solution of gatekeeping a lot of really fun and exciting moments behind these extremely hard-to-obtain 9-10 Piece traits. We've never had this issue in TFT; why are we now gatekeeping a lot of the exciting moments behind 100+ hours of playtime. You can tone down a lot of the exciting moments, and still keep them accessible, but challenging to obtain. You've done this for the longest time; why fix something that isn't broken. Personally, I think there needs to be a revaluation of what makes a Set engaging and fun, and what players really want to see and play around with for hundreds of hours way before you start delving into the mindset of "How do we add as much divergence, nuance, and novelty". Those roads can meet and intertwine, but they aren't the same road.
Items, Augments, and Orbs!: Items - Here's a little brain exercise for everyone, what would happen in TFT if we removed all item components, and strictly dropped only Ornn anvils all game? (Take a minute to think before you click the spoiler!) >! If you guessed it would ensue chaos, bugs, and a balancing nightmare. OR be a hell of a lot of fun! you'd be correct both ways! (New portal idea!/s) !<
Luckily for us, that isn't the case. However, I do think we've reached a point with items where we're too comfortable with what they wish to achieve on units, and this creates a dynamic where TFT units are always being designed with items in mind, and how the items would make the unit work. Rather than creating fun and engaging units in a vacuum and worrying about the items later. It's a scary prospect to experiment with the tried and true (Think back to Set 7 when they made Rage-wing trait experimenting with units that had a different fuel source than mana, but it was a total miss or when they created the dreaded Shadow items), but it's just food for thought. Just because you didn't get it right once, doesn't mean the idea is flawed, just means you didn't get it right that one time. A time where you definitely did get it right however, is Radiant items Look how those turned out! Some of the most beloved items of all time. This is sort of what they wanted to achieve with the new expansion to the Ornn anvil items, and support items. It's definitely a step in the right direction, but can definitely be explored more.
Augments - Augments really was a happy little accidental shift in TFT's life cycle. They created the perfect concoction of how to add an almost infinite amount of variability to a game that was missing just that. (Which also adds to why Encounters are redundant and frustrating) Since then they've time and time again created really fun and engaging augments each set, that without I'm almost certain TFT wouldn't be as popular as it is. Please keep doing this, this is really good. Another little thought exercise before we continue. What would happen if most of the Encounters were just turned into Augments instead? (Think a little before you click spoiler!) >! If You guessed it would just create a healthier way of interacting with said encounters. You'd be correct! !<
If you're trying to create a new set mechanic (encounters) it shouldn't overlap with something that already exists that's just better than the new thing you're trying to create (augments). However, getting back on track. It does feel like things have gotten a little too comfortable in the Augment space, and feels like there hasn't been much room for innovative change. There's an untapped reservoir right in front of you of infinite variability at your disposal. Why aren't you experimenting harder, instead of looking for other means of adding variability that will always be suboptimal to the one you've already created almost 6 Sets ago...?
Soft Sample Examples: A new type of Augment called Radiant Augments that provide a wide range of very strong / borderline insane combinations of items and stats, but the catch is after every player combat if you lose you can choose if you want to swap your Radiant augment with the player you just faced. (Like multiple random hexes of strong stats, or 3 tailored Orrn items / Support items, or given 3 zephyrs and knowing who you're fighting next or given a 2Star-dragon that adopts your top-most trait?!) (The design space is infinite)
Orbs - Lastly, I'd like to talk about Orbs! Orbs are a lot better, good job! That's all I have to say :)!
Thank you for reading this far into my post if you have. Again, this comes from an immense love for the game and the people creating it. I have nothing but positive interactions with Mortdog on Twitter / Discord and would appreciate if you guys keep it civil and friendly :)! I really do have a lot more thoughts, and things I'd love to share, but I feel like I've already bloated this post a lot! (Assassins, Higher Cost units than 5, Midsets, system changes, loot management, meta knowledge, Portals etc..)
I've just been really bored playing this set, and that's the reason I've retired from seriously competing or climbing for this one set, and I'm very keen to read what other people have to say about my thoughts, and looking forward to discussing it thank you!
