2024.05.22 03:00 Zealousideal_Tie3820 ADHD and struggling to schedule clients

Hi folks! I'm really feeling a lot of shame about some scheduling mishaps and would love 1) support, 2) reminders that it's okay to not be perfect, and/or 3) advice.
I really struggle with managing a calendar. I generally don't take on clients who don't have a consistent schedule. I know this sucks for people who work service jobs, but it works out better for me and my clients to have consistency. Recently, one of my clients got a new job and their shift changes week to week. I have messed up their session times 3-4 times in the last two months. I accidentally double booked them with another client this Friday and keep avoiding changing their appointment 😭 this is the only client this happens with bc their appointment time isn't consistent.
For context, I work in CMH in a hybrid position where I have 10-12 client hours a week (including group) and the rest of my work week is admin stuff for my site. We schedule in a program called Avatar (it's so bad). I'm not sure why I didn't pull Avatar up when scheduling our next appointment. I looked at my outlook calendar when scheduling them, which I guess I forgot to update.
I feel embarrassed that I keep messing our session times up. I had to text them to ask when we scheduled our appointment for last week 🫠🫠🫠 they're always very understanding, but I worry they're annoyed and won't tell me bc they don't want to upset me. Part of me wants to transfer the client to someone who won't mess up variable scheduling, but that feels dramatic lol.
What tips do you have for scheduling a client who can't do a consistent time? Do I need to address this with the client in session? If so, how can I bring it up to benefit the client and not make it about reassuring myself? I invite even the most basic "check avatar when scheduling" bc sometimes with ADHD I genuinely don't think if the most obvious shit lol

2024.05.22 02:59 Particular-Bird-4331 Struggling with Non-Open-Source Software on NixOS – Advice Needed!

Hi everyone,
I've been using NixOS for a while now and absolutely love the declarative nature of the package management. The ability to manage my environment with home-manager is fantastic, and I really appreciate the reproducibility and isolation that Nix offers.
However, I'm running into some significant challenges when it comes to installing non-open-source software that isn't available in the Nix store. It's becoming quite frustrating and is impacting my ability to get things done efficiently. I don't have the time to figure out the Nix way for every piece of software I need, especially when it involves complex installations.
I'm considering a few options and would love to hear your advice:
  1. Staying with NixOS: Is there a more streamlined way to handle non-open-source software on NixOS that I might be missing? How do you manage these kinds of packages? Are there any tools or workflows that could make this easier?
  2. Moving to another Linux distribution: I'm contemplating switching to a more traditional Linux distribution (like Ubuntu, Fedora, or Arch) and using Nix as my package manager for everything I can. This way, I could still benefit from Nix's declarative management for most of my environment while using the distro's package manager for more complicated, non-open-source software. Has anyone here done this? What has your experience been like?
  3. Gradual Transition: Another approach I'm considering is moving to a different distro but gradually transitioning more software to be managed by Nix as I learn more about how to package things the Nix way. Is this a reasonable strategy?
Any insights, experiences, or tips you could share would be immensely helpful. I want to stick with Linux and ideally continue using Nix's powerful package management, but I need to find a way that fits my workflow better.
Thanks in advance for your help!

2024.05.22 02:57 Imaginary_Feature741 Bleach soul reaper oc idea thingy

So this is just his zanpakto, shikai and banki, I would love some criticism or ideas for it!
Zanpakutō: 灰 Hai (Ashes) Sealed Form: In its sealed state, Hai takes the form of an elegant Chinese smoking pipe made of dark wood and inlaid with intricate silver designs. When used, it emits a fragrant, smoke that changes in effect depending on what incense is being burned in it
Shikai (Initial Release): 燃え殻 Moegara (Cinders) Release Command: "Engulf, Moegara" Then blowing into the pipe and being encased in smoke
Appearance: Upon activation, Moegara transforms into a Chinese curved sword (dao) with a flat tip. The blade constantly gives off thin wisps of gray smoke, and its surface has an ashen, burnt appearance.
Abilities: 1. Enmu no Ken (煙霧の剣, "Blade of Smoke"): The sword can release concentrated bursts of smoke that obscure the user's movements, allowing them to attack unseen. This smoke can be manipulated to create illusions, making it difficult for opponents to discern real attacks from false ones. 2. Shounetsu Kaen (焼熱火炎, "Scorching Flame"): The blade can ignite with intense, cinder-like flames that burn at extremely high temperatures. Striking an opponent leaves burning cinders embedded in their wounds, causing continuous damage. 3. Kemuri no Dōka (煙の導火, "Smoke Command"): The user can command the smoke to form various shapes and structures, such as barriers, weapons, or tendrils, allowing for both offensive and defensive maneuvers.
Bankai (Final Release): すべてを飲み込む深淵 Subete o Nomikomu Shin'en (All Consuming Abyss)
Activation: dropping the tip of the Shikai blade into the ground, billowing smoke encircles the user and the target in a 100-meter space.
Appearance: In its Bankai form, the Zanpakutō becomes a long chokutō with a blade as black as pitch, constantly giving off a fragrant, black smoke that seems to absorb light and make ally’s feel more awake and able to proses things faster, and makes enemy’s dizzy and experience vertigo
Abilities: 1. Mugen Enmu (無限煙霧, "Infinite Smoke Haze"): The smoke within the 100-meter area becomes incredibly dense and impenetrable, making it impossible to see. This smoke also has a hallucinogenic effect, causing enemies to see and hear illusions, making it difficult to trust their senses. 2. Kaji no Kokkai (火事の黒灰, "Inferno of Black Ash"): The user can create vast clouds or small pinprick sized balls (any shape and size really) of black ash that, upon contact with a surface or enemy, ignite into intense, all-consuming flames. These flames are black and smokey, capable of incinerating anything they touch. The ash can be scattered at will, creating a devastating, large-scale area attack. 3. Enryū Enkai (煙竜炎界, "Smoke Dragon's Flame Realm"): The user can summon a massive dragon made entirely of black smoke and cinders. This dragon can breathe the all consuming black flames and sweep across the battlefield, creating trails of fire and ash wherever it goes. The dragon can also act as an extension of the user’s will, attacking enemies, defending the user, and manipulating the battlefield. 4. Shōnetsujigoku (焦熱地獄, "Scorching Hell"): The ground within the smoke-filled area heats up, turning into a landscape of burning cinders and ash. This makes the terrain hazardous, burning anyone who steps on it except the user. 5. Kemuri no Kyōka (煙の教化, "Smoke Creation"): The user can create constructs from the smoke, such as weapons, creatures, or even structures. These constructs are solid and can be used for various purposes, including attacking, defending, or trapping opponents. 6. Yami no Shihai (闇の支配, "Command of Darkness"): The user can command the smoke to bind and control opponents, restricting their movements and sapping their strength. This ability allows the user to dominate the battlefield, manipulating both the environment and their enemies.
Special Techniques: 1. "Shin'en no Saisei" (深淵の再生, "Abyssal Rebirth"): * By channeling their spiritual energy, the user can create a massive wave of black smoke and cinders that engulfs the entire battlefield. This wave purifies everything in its path, erasing injuries, poisons, and negative effects for the user and their allies, while devastating enemies caught within it. After the wave passes, the battlefield is left in a serene, ash-covered state, with the fragrant smoke lingering in the air as a sign of the user's dominance. 2. "Enmu no Kyokō" (煙霧の虚構, "Illusory Haze of Smoke"): * This technique creates a reality-distorting effect within the 100-meter smoke-filled area. The user can manipulate the perception of space and time within this zone, causing enemies to experience distorted reality. Distances become deceptive, making it appear as if objects and attacks are closer or farther than they actually are. Time can seem to slow down or speed up for the opponents, disorienting them and making coordinated responses difficult. This distortion of reality is enhanced by the hallucinogenic properties of the smoke, making it nearly impossible for enemies to discern truth from illusion. The user remains unaffected, allowing them to navigate and strike with precision amidst the chaos.

2024.05.22 02:55 Gallifreyan98724 Tips for potty training a puppy?

We’ve had a 5-month-old, puppy for almost a month at this point. I found her starving on my aunts property while I was feeding her dogs one day. After finding out she had no microchip and taking her to the vet for many x-rays because her leg was bleeding and we thought it was broken/had a bite from something, our new puppy, Freya, is living her best life with all the tennis balls her mind can handle.
We’ve also been training her as often as we can, so far, she knows “sit”, down”, and “drop it” but the one we’re still struggling with is potty training. We’ve tried everything we think we can do. We’ve tried praising her when she goes potty on the patch of grass we have in the backyard, taking her outside every 30 min to an hour, making sure she goes potty before we let her inside, but every time we do that, she’s inside for 2 minutes before she squats down and pees in the middle of the living room.
I know we’ve only had her for a few weeks, and I don’t know how long it usually takes to potty train a puppy, but does anyone have any tips we can try?

2024.05.22 02:54 BenQ_Lion 【Knowledge】Maximize Your Coding Efficiency with the Right Monitor 🙌

Hi, BenQ Family!✌️
Remember last week we shared the information about the World's First Monitors for Programming? I know this has already caught your attention, but you might still be wondering which monitor to pick among the three models.💡 This time, I'm going to share with you how to choose your ideal monitor from the RD series.
Here are some tips for you—let's take a look. 👀
🔎 Monitor Size and Setup
To create an efficient coding workspace, having the right screen size is essential. Notably, there are two new aspect ratios available: 3:2 for 28 inches and 16:10 for 24 inches. These ratios allow programmers to see more lines of code without the need to scroll. A 32 or 28-inch monitor is ideal for those who prefer a single monitor setup. Alternatively, if you prefer a multiple monitor setup or have limited desktop space, a 24-inch monitor would be a good choice.
🔎 Resolution and Contrast Ratio
Resolution and contrast ratio are crucial for ensuring sharp text and vivid visuals during coding sessions. Some find that 2K resolution meets their needs, while others may prefer the clarity of 4K. For contrast ratio, programmers who like to work in dark environments often find that a higher contrast ratio enhances visibility.
Aspect Ratio
🔎 Specialized Coding Mode
When it comes to reading coding lines clearly, high resolution and contrast ratio are essential, but they’re not the only factors. BenQ’s coding modes, tailored specifically for programmers, prioritize crystal-clear fonts and adapt seamlessly to light or dark themes, ensuring optimal visibility and comfort. These modes enhance readability and reduce visual strain by clearly identifying characters such as Il1, 0oO, and q9g, especially when paired with the dark theme of IDE software, offering an unparalleled coding experience.
Coding Mode: Dark Theme vs Light Theme
🔎Eye-Care Technology
Programming and software development often involve extended hours of focusing on code in front of a monitor, so taking care of your eye health is crucial. Key features to consider include low blue light, which filters harmful radiation to reduce eye damage, and a fine-coated panel that eliminates glare and reflection. Additionally, the backlight feature “MoonHalo,” available in the RD280UA and RD320UA, can minimize contrast glare and reduce ambient light interference.
🔎 Ergonomic Design
Spending long periods in front of a monitor can lead to various discomforts. Therefore, comfort is a high priority for coding work. The RD series comes with an ergonomic HAS (Height Adjustable Stand) to meet your preferences. For unparalleled flexibility, the RD280UA and RD320UA are your ultimate choices, featuring an Ergo Arm.
Ergo Arm for RD series
🔎 Intuitive Settings for Multi-Tasking
Many programmers spend long hours concentrating on their coding and often multitask simultaneously. Having intuitive and user-friendly settings can greatly enhance the working experience. In addition to the common "USB Type-C with USB Hub" features, the RD series supports special features such as the Function Bar and the bundled software, “Display Pilot 2,” which provide quick and intuitive access to essential functions and shortcuts to enhance productivity.

2024.05.22 02:51 ImA_Stock_Wrangler Gold79 Completes Acquisition of the Tip Top Gold Project

Gold79 Completes Acquisition of the Tip Top Gold Project
May 21, 2024 – Gold79 Mines Ltd. (TSX-V: AUU) (OTCQB: AUSVF) (“Gold79” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it has made the final acquisition payment of US$25,000 to the vendor of the Tip Top project. Gold79 now owns 100% of the Tip Top Project in Nevada.
Derek Macpherson, President and CEO stated, “When I joined Gold79 three years ago, my view was that any one of our projects could justify our market capitalization at that time. This included the Tip Top project where the 154 historical drill holes included results of 4.57m at 16.31 g/t Au (T98-12) and 9.14m at 14.42 g/t Au (T98-14) within a plus 5-kilometre gold-in-soil anomaly.” Mr. Macpherson continued, “While work has been limited over the last three years, we continue to believe that Tip Top is a prospective project and Gold79 continues to look at ways to maximize its value for shareholders, as we focus our current resources on the Gold Chain project.
Tip Top Project, Nevada
The Tip Top project is located in Esmeralda County, Nevada at the north end of the White Mountains, five miles south of Montgomery Pass, which is on U.S. Highway 6 between Bishop, CA and Tonopah, NV. The project is approximately 60 km south-south east of the past producing Borealis Mine (approximately 500,000 ounces of gold produced), now operated by Borealis Mining; the past producing Aurora Mine (approximately 1.9M ounces of gold produced), owned by Hecla; and, Headwater Gold’s Spring Peak project, where Headwater is partnered with Newmont Gold.
The project contains several low-sulfidation oxide gold-silver epithermal veins that are peripheral to an altered rhyodacite intrusion emplaced into Jurassic-Cretaceous intrusive and a bimodal package of volcanic rocks. Two of the veins historically produced a total of 6,900 ounces of gold and some silver. Since 1980, the property has been drilled by five companies, with 154 drill holes totaling 7,315 metres.
Selected historical high-grade drill hole intercepts from the Tip Top Gold project include the following:
  • TTD-02 returned 2.44m of 19.82 g/t Au from 20.20m (Hecla 2001)
  • TTD-04 returned 2.59m of 7.89 g/t Au from 32.00m (Hecla 2001)
  • T98-12 returned 4.57m of 16.31 g/t Au from 28.97m (Dos Amigos 1998)
  • T98-14 returned 9.14m of 14.42 g/t Au from 21.34m (Dos Amigos 1998)
Gold bearing intercepts above are drilled intervals and true width cannot be determined at this time. Historical drilling along the Tip Top vein, and particularly around the Tip Top adit, has identified gold-bearing veins and there is a good possibility of expanding the known mineralization along strike and to depth.
In 2020, Gold79 completed an extensive mapping and sampling program at Tip Top. Soil sampling revealed multi-kilometre gold-in-soil (Figure 1) and mercury-in-soil (Figure 2) anomalies trending Northeast from where most of the drilling has been completed. Mapping helped identify structural controls of the gold mineralization (Figure 3). Sampling across the known veins in the area of the Tip Top vein returned 6.7m of 11.8 g/t Au and 4.37m of 10.3 g/t Au (Figure 1).

Tip Top Agreement
With the final payment of US$25,000 on May 9, 2024, Gold79 has completed its acquisition of the Tip Top project. The Vendor retains a 1% net smelter return royalty on the property and the Company is obligated to pay the vendor a cash payment of US$200,000 within 30 days of completion of a bankable feasibility study. The Company may purchase the NSR royalty at any time prior to commercial production for US$1,000,000.
Qualified Person / Quality Control and Quality Assurance
Robert Johansing, M.Sc. Econ. Geol., P. Geo., the Company’s Vice President, Exploration is a qualified person (“QP”) as defined by NI 43-101 and has reviewed and approved the technical content of this press release. The QP has not completed sufficient work to verify the historical information on the property, particularly in regards to historical drill results. However, the QP believes that prior drilling and analytical results were completed to industry standard practices.

2024.05.22 02:50 AllusionSoleil Dumb blonde buys miata

Please help lol, I have a 1997 Mazda Miata I bought for $7500. The owner was very upfront that everything was new and stock, but the engine had never been replaced. About a month after I bought it the engine started knocking. I know nothing about cars so I have a few questions.
  1. I kind of want a cool engine tbh, I’m not even interested in going very fast but it would be nice to hear a cool sound and maybe pull up to some car meets. Definitely under 10k what are my best bets?
  2. Can I sell my old engine and if so, how do I know what it’s worth?
  3. Any tips on miata maintenance or driving skill would be appreciated!

2024.05.22 02:50 adulting4kids Rejected

It's essential to focus on continual improvement and resilience. Many successful authors faced rejection before achieving success. J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series, received numerous rejections initially. Stephen King's first novel was rejected dozens of times. Agatha Christie, Dr. Seuss, and Margaret Mitchell all encountered rejection before finding success. Remember, rejection is a part of the journey, and perseverance in honing your craft is key. Focus on refining your writing, seeking feedback, and staying persistent in your pursuit.
Here are a few strategies to help navigate the journey as a writer:
  1. Persistency: Keep writing and submitting your work. Each rejection can provide valuable lessons and insights into improving your writing. Don't let setbacks deter you from continuing to create.
  2. Feedback and Improvement: Seek feedback from peers, writing groups, or mentors. Constructive criticism can help identify areas for improvement and guide your growth as a writer.
  3. Diversify Submissions: Consider submitting your work to various publishers, agents, or literary magazines. Sometimes, a rejection from one might not reflect the response you'll receive from another.
  4. Stay Motivated: Surround yourself with inspiration. Read books, attend writing workshops, or engage with other creatives to stay motivated and connected within the writing community.
  5. Self-Care: Take care of your mental and emotional well-being. Rejections can be tough, so it's crucial to practice self-compassion and maintain a healthy perspective on your writing journey.
Remember, many renowned authors faced rejection before achieving success. Your persistence, dedication to improvement, and belief in your craft are vital elements that can lead you toward success as a writer.
6Here are a few more tips to help maintain motivation and progress as a writer:
  1. Set Realistic Goals: Establish achievable writing goals. Whether it's a daily word count, finishing a chapter, or completing a manuscript by a specific deadline, setting realistic targets can keep you focused and motivated.
  2. Embrace Revisions: Recognize that writing is rewriting. Embrace the revision process as an opportunity to polish your work. Revisions often lead to stronger storytelling and better-crafted prose.
  3. Connect with the Writing Community: Engage with other writers through social media, forums, or local writing groups. Networking can provide support, encouragement, and valuable insights into the publishing industry.
  4. Learn from Rejections: Instead of viewing rejections as failures, consider them as stepping stones toward success. Analyze feedback, if available, and use it constructively to refine your writing.
  5. Believe in Your Voice: Each writer has a unique voice. Embrace your style and perspective. Authenticity in storytelling often resonates with readers.
Lastly, remember that every successful author faced challenges and setbacks along their journey. It's the perseverance, commitment to improvement, and belief in their work that helped them overcome rejection and achieve success. Keep writing, stay resilient, and believe in your potential as a writer.
Here are quotes from some well-known authors who faced rejection before finding success:
  1. J.K. Rowling (Author of Harry Potter series):
"Failure meant a stripping away of the inessential. I stopped pretending to myself that I was anything other than what I was, and began to direct all my energy into finishing the only work that mattered to me."
  2. Stephen King (Author of numerous bestsellers):
"By the time I was fourteen the nail in my wall would no longer support the weight of the rejection slips impaled upon it. I replaced the nail with a spike and kept on writing."
  3. Agatha Christie (Renowned mystery novelist):
"I don't think necessity is the mother of invention. Invention, in my opinion, arises directly from idleness, possibly also from laziness - to save oneself trouble."
  4. Dr. Seuss (Author of beloved children's books):
"I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living. It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope."
  5. Margaret Mitchell (Author of "Gone with the Wind"):
"Life's under no obligation to give us what we expect. We take what we get and are thankful it's no worse than it is."
These authors encountered rejection and setbacks on their paths to success but persisted in their writing endeavors, ultimately achieving acclaim for their work. Their quotes reflect their resilience, determination, and belief in their craft despite facing initial rejection.
Here are a few more quotes from authors who experienced rejection before achieving success:
  1. Louisa May Alcott (Author of "Little Women"):
"I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship."
  2. George Orwell (Author of "1984" and "Animal Farm"):
"Writing a book is a horrible, exhausting struggle, like a long bout of some painful illness. One would never undertake such a thing if one were not driven on by some demon whom one can neither resist nor understand."
  3. John Grisham (Bestselling author of legal thrillers):
"I faced rejection and constant criticism, but I never let up. I continued to persevere and pursued my writing passion."
  4. Madeleine L'Engle (Author of "A Wrinkle in Time"):
"You have to write the book that wants to be written. And if the book will be too difficult for grown-ups, then you write it for children."
  5. Ray Bradbury (Author of "Fahrenheit 451"):
"You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you."
These authors persisted through rejection, adversity, and doubts, yet remained dedicated to their writing. Their words reflect the perseverance, passion, and determination that ultimately led them to success in the literary world.
💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫🐔🐔🐔🐔 So in handling rejection as a writer and finding inspiration from authors who faced rejection before achieving success, this article has provided:
  1. Strategies to stay motivated and improve as a writer, including persistence, seeking feedback, diversifying submissions, staying motivated, and practicing self-care.
  2. Additional tips like setting goals, embracing revisions, connecting with the writing community, learning from rejections, and embracing your unique voice.
  3. Quotes from various renowned authors such as J.K. Rowling, Stephen King, Agatha Christie, Dr. Seuss, Margaret Mitchell, Louisa May Alcott, George Orwell, John Grisham, Madeleine L'Engle, and Ray Bradbury. 2024.05.22 02:50 Unhappy-Minute1650 FW16 suddenly restarting on game boot-up

Hey all,
My FW16 has been randomly restarting when booting up Baldur's Gate 3. It seems like the external graphics card sometimes fails to activate, but I am not sure why. I didn't experience this issue until around 2-3 weeks ago - managed to play tens of hours up to that point with no problem. Now, it will often work perfectly on reboot with no issue. I am running it on Windows 11 and have updated the BIOS and drivers. I am wondering if others have experienced similar issues and have any tips for how to get around this problem! Thanks so much.

After years of avoiding findom, I started following a domme and sending. It's small, just a few hundred over a couple weeks. But it makes me feel good in a way that I can't describe. I don't get super hard from it, but I feel satisfied, like it's what I was supposed to do, like a job well done.
I've been in chastity on and off for forever, currently locked for about 2 months. Well, I let loose, and now with post nut clarity, I'm sitting here thinking, why? All the submissive feelings were ejected from my body, I feel like my alpha work self, and can't understand why I did this in the first place.
Then she messaged me something special, and I felt I should tip her for it. Then I locked myself back up. What do I like about this?

2024.05.22 02:47 Ring-Shank Best 2 Man Scramble Score

Best 2 Man Scramble Score
One of my coworkers and I recently discovered we can 2 man scramble and play the local 9 hole course in about an hour for our lunch break. We’ve both been golfing for close to 2 years, him slightly longer and me not quite a full 2 years. On good days it’s a pretty close 50/50 split on which shot we use. To date this is the best score we’ve had and it was the first time playing from the tips. Hole 3 though we used my drive, my approach and my putt for the eagle and it felt amazing. I should’ve kept the ball but I then proceeded to whack it OB on the next hole into a pond.

2024.05.22 02:44 IceePirate1 Europa-Park Planning Questions

Hello all, I am flying from the USA to Zurich and am planning to take a train up to Europa-Park. I'll be there from June 9-11 where I have to fly from Zurich to Venice the evening of the 11th. As such, I'll have 2-2.5 days to enjoy the park. I have yet to book any hotels/tickets as my flight was just confirmed yesterday. None of the park hotels are available currently, so looks like I'll have to unfortunately miss out on the early entry.
What would be some general tips for an enthusiast like myself? I'm a single guy in my 20s who can speak a little German. I intentionally am trying to learn very little about the park to try to give myself as fresh of an experience as possible, but general tips such as what rides to do first or maybe food places to look at would be appreciated (no spoilers please).
My other question would be on bookings, do you guys have any hotel recommendations? I'm also wondering if it would be worth it to visit Rulantica on the first/last day or spend all my time in Europa-Park. Price is, of course, a concern, but not a major one if I'd get a much better experience/value for spending a bit more. I would 100% buy a fast pass (or equivalent) for example if they had one for sale.

Hamster Enclosure Set Up?
My son got a Syrian for his birthday on Saturday from his Auntie and in the last couple days I have learned that PetSmart and Petco give absolutely 🗑️ advice and don’t sell hardly any proper products. We just ordered the NiteAngel Bigger World enclosure (size 47.2 x 19.7 x 23.6). Any tips on actually putting it together? I plan to add 100% silicone to the corners for extra stability. I’m also looking for everyone’s favorite items to add to his enclosure when we get to set it up? Budget items or tips?

2024.05.22 02:41 No_Definition3829 AITA Done with Family drama

AITA, my boyfriend and I have been together for 12 years; we went to buy a bar together, gave the woman an offer. She took a month to get back to us; (I have severe ADHD and decided to tell him I was over it and found another business venture) That week he got a call back from the women saying she’d accept our offer. He never once told me she accepted. His father asked him about it and he explained what happened, his dad said he’d buy it with him. The next time I heard about it was after they made the deal and was settling paperwork with the lawyer. I was very upset to say the least. The liquor license took them 6 months to try to figure out the paperwork; I stepped in and decided to help them and got them to close within 2 weeks of helping them. They bought it with the intentions on his father’s ex girlfriend to run it since she managed a bar before. Fast forward to the week of closing- she never showed up. I stepped up to the plate and learned the ins & outs of running a full baresturant. Neither of them have been of no help at all when it comes to this place especially his father (to the point where my boyfriend told him- one of them had to buy the other out and they were done with all business together they were also suppose to buy a trailer park together after they did the bar) I do the accounting, the accounts payable, the orders, the hiring, everything you can imagine. (I also work there 72 hours a week @ $10 an hour; and I keep my tips from bartending .) my boyfriend helped more than his dad ever did. His dad claims most things are “not his problem”. My boyfriend sprung it upon me today that he’s buying a trailer park with his father now and put $15,000 down today on it without me knowing. I’m ready to walk away completely from his 2 businesses and him. AITA?

2024.05.22 02:39 sciencesciences How does natural selection work at the genetic level?

TL; DR: natural selection is a known logical event where animals that have clear phenotypic advantages (long neck giraffe vs short neck giraffe) will pass on that advantage. This makes sense. But I find this event has been highly misconstrued into an actual fundamental force (I've seen people compare it to gravity) that acts at the genetic/molecular level. So much so that scientists will give natural selection credit for the arrival of a new enzyme, that gives the organism a 0.5% advantage over other organisms, but not anywhere to the level that dictates whether the organism will be able to survive and reproduce. How would this enzyme (and other non-phenotypic traits) come into existence via natural selection, when it in no way tips the balance between survival/reproduction and death/no reproduction. Where did people get this idea that natural selection is this powerful?
The long version: Natural selection is alternatively known as 'survival of the fittest'. An example of this would be birds with small beaks outcompeting those with big beaks in an environment where the food source is trapped in small places that big beaks cannot access.
So small beak birds survive and big beaks don't. What happens now? The small beak birds pass on their small beak genes, and the big beak genes are weeded out of the gene pool.
I have some issues to raise:
1 - all genes exist with a spectrum of variation anyway. There is no inherent gene for just small beaks. In fact it is much smarter to have genes exist with a spectrum of variation, so that if the environment changes to favour big beaks, all gene regulation has to do is grow the beak a bit more than usual. People think natural selection is responsible for "selecting" the genes associated with small beaks, but there is usually no single gene associated with a small beak, and usually the presence of other "unsuspecting" genes contributes. Natural selection would have to ensure all collaborating genes that contribute to one trait are inherited. And one gene involved in beak size could also play a role in bone density. We don't know. So natural selection is a risky game. (We know from selective breeding that you can increase the frequency of a favourable trait, but because of the mysterious action of genes, end up with unintended genetic consequences)
2 - there is no actual power driving natural selection, it's just the observation that those who have traits that provide a survival/reproductive advantage at that time will pass those traits on, and those without will die. So how do people explain how natural selection is acting on traits that actually aren't on the border between successful and unsuccessful reproduction/survival. Traits aren't black and white. Most singular traits don't provide such a large advantage that they will enable one animal to survive and reproduce, and the rest without that trait just die without passing on their genes.
Scientists claim that new enzymes that provide a 0.5% benefit to an animal are there because of natural selection. Natural selection isn't actually wafting around the genome looking for beneficial mutations, it is just a law of nature that those that have an obvious phenotypic advantage (on a scale much larger than the moleculagenetic one) for survival or reproduction will be more likely to pass that advantage on.

2024.05.22 02:38 Tzimiscelord Newbie killer here, in need of some tips

Im a killer 18 hours into the game.
At the very beginning i used to win a lot, survivors played uncoordinately and they were easy to pick off one by one.
But now, as soon as i start chasing one, generators fly extremely fast (it doesn't help that my presitge 1 ass is facing survivors filled to the brim with purple perks from 3-4 different survivors either).
Soemtimes 3 generator fly in 5 minutes, wich i admit is tough on me because i usually spent the first minute and a half looking for someone to begin with.
Does somebody have some tips that i can use to
1 Locate survivors a bit more easily
2 Make my chases a bit shorter
3 Good killer tips in general?
