Hi guys, I got this Blackberry as a gift to my birthday. I assume it's a Blackberry Bold 9900 and I wanna know how much of it still works and what can I do with it.
I won't expect it to work completely, but I wanna know If I can read e-mails, read ebooks maybe? and download some social media and such in it.
(It's a Brazilian version)
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.21 13:11 AlexTrocky Am i in trouble? Please help.

Today i got this e-mail.
Greetings!
I have to share bad news with you. Approximately a few months ago, I gained access to your devices, which you use for internet browsing. After that, I have started tracking your internet activities.
Here is the sequence of events:
Some time ago, I purchased access to email accounts from hackers (nowadays, it is quite simple to buy it online). I have easily managed to log in to your email account One week later, I have already installed the Cobalt Strike "Beacon" on the Operating Systems of all the devices you use to access your email. It was not hard at all (since you were following the links from your inbox emails). All ingenious is simple. :).
This software provides me with access to all your devices controllers (e.g., your microphone, video camera, and keyboard). I have downloaded all your information, data, photos, videos, documents, files, web browsing history to my servers. I have access to all your messengers, social networks, emails, chat history, and contacts list.
My virus continuously refreshes the signatures (it is driver-based) and hence remains invisible for antivirus software. Likewise, I guess by now you understand why I have stayed undetected until this letter.
While gathering information about you, i have discovered that you are a big fan of adult websites. You love visiting porn websites and watching exciting videos while enduring an enormous amount of pleasure. Well, i have managed to record a number of your dirty scenes and montaged a few videos, which show how you **** and reach orgasms.
If you have doubts, I can make a few clicks of my mouse, and all your videos will be shared with your friends, colleagues, and relatives. Considering the specificity of the videos you like to watch (you perfectly know what I mean), it will cause a real catastrophe for you.
I also have no issue at all with making them available for public access (leaked and exposed all data). General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): Under the rules of the law, you face a heavy fine or arrest. I guess you don't want that to happen.
Let's settle it this way:
You transfer 2.4 Bitcoin to me and once the transfer is received, I will delete all this dirty stuff right away. After that, we will forget about each other. I also promise to deactivate and delete all the harmful software from your devices. Trust me. I keep my word.
That is a fair deal, and the price is relatively low, considering that I have been checking out your profile and traffic for some time by now. If you don't know how to purchase and transfer Bitcoin - you can use any modern search engine.
You need to send that amount here Bitcoin wallet: bc1qh5aex028jj339vdjkj5u3k37a72rkr33kqkars
(The price is not negotiable). You have 5 days in order to make the payment from the moment you opened this email.
Do not try to find and destroy my virus! (All your data is already uploaded to a remote server). Do not try to contact me. Various security services will not help you; formatting a disk or destroying a device will not help either, since your data is already on a remote server.
This is an APT Hacking Group. Don't be mad at me, everyone has their own work. I will monitor your every move until I get paid. If you keep your end of the agreement, you won't hear from me ever again.
Everything will be done fairly! One more thing. Don't get caught in similar kinds of situations anymore in the future! My advice: keep changing all your passwords frequently.

I knew it was a scam, but I wanted to make sure and check it on the Internet. so I copied the entire e-mail and pasted it into the browser, thinking that I would learn something, but only after a while I realized that this was how I could have left my data and been hacked. and now the question is whether I should go to the police or leave it because I'm exaggerating too much.

2024.05.21 08:01 usrdef For anyone who is a greek

For anyone who is a greek
Was doing some downloading today and I glanced down at my network icon in Windows 11, and it suddenly hit me what was missing.
Back in Windows 98 / 2000 (and possibly Windows ME, I forget), you could actually see your network activity when your machine was sending / receiving data.
After browsing around the internet, someone had come up with a solution. And just seeing this hits me with a flood of early Windows nostalgia.
Just this little addition started bringing back the days of Napster, MSN Messenger, ICQ, Myspace, IRC, and so many things. All from a blinking icon.

2024.05.20 22:34 prawnofthedead We allowed the romance scam on my disabled mom for too long and it ended up costing us a lot more than money. Heed my warning, and some advice needed as well.

My mother is old, lonely, and very prone to scams. About one month ago, she fell for the Fake Celebrity Romance Scam.
These scammers would message her on facebook pretending to be a famous Turkish soap opera actor. They had her download telegram and on Telegram did the classic "please go to the store to get me gift cards" thing.
Now luckily my mom can't drive, so she asked my dad to get them and lied about what they were. She is a bad liar and my whole family knows about her past with lying and addiction and stuff.
My dad (absolute saint, best person I know, stuck with my horribly verbally abusive and now scammed mother) went out and got a $300 gift card just to make my mom happy. He knew it was a scam, but in his words "it was just to make her stop bitching and moaning" and I totally understood what he meant.
If he had gotten me involved earlier, I obviously wouldn't have let them send a single red cent. But it is what it is. The shouting match that ensued was ugly. My mom ruined yet another holiday for my family (Passover).
But here is the word of warning.
Me and my dad agreed that because my mom is so lonely and just not a pleasant person to talk to, we would allow her to keep her facebook messenger account. Just so she could talk to the actor and keep up the delusion. We were absolutely positive she had no access to any money, any credit cards, or any possible way to fulfill the gift card scam requests. I assumed the scammers would tire themselves out.
Well this turned out to be a huge mistake
We allowed her to continue believing it was the actor. Not that I didn't say 50x a day over the last few weeks "its a nigerian scammer, you are making me lose respect for you if you believe its really him" and she is doing the classic "I am absolutely sure this is him, you just don't want me having friends."
Anyway, she has been messaging these scammers for the past few weeks from about a million different facebook messenger accounts. All of them, without fail, asks her to move to telegram. I have disabled her ability to download new apps so she cant do it. This made her CALL MY SISTER FOR HELP and this opened the floodgates. We tried not to involve my sister because her and my mom already have a strained relationship. We intentionally kept her in the dark.
My sister now knows and is fuming mad at my mother. Fuming being an understatement. Things were said. Family ruining things. And now my whole family is now basically emotionally ruined because we let the delusion continue well past the money.
So here is where I need advice. how do I get these fake turkish actor accounts to stop messaging my mom. Short of deleting her whole facebook account, which I don't want to do because it will make an already lonely old woman even lonelier. I wish facebook had a setting that blocked messages from anyone that is not a friend. But yet they still would send her friend requests so it wouldn't solve it.
My real question is, how do we break the delusion. No matter how much logic we use, and she even agrees with, about how it couldn't really be the actor, she is somehow convinced. My family is basically broken and the damage is done, but I am trying to save what is left of it all. Thanks if you've read this all and I'm sorry it's very scatterbrained this whole mess has me sort of in a tizzy

OnePlus 12 receives but cannot send MMS
I just got the OnePlus 12, upgraded from 6t, and everything was working fine for the first 1 day. I was able to send and receive SMS and MMS without issues using the standard Google Messages app.
Then on day 2 (yesterday) a regular SMS failed to send to a friend. I only noticed this today (day 3). The message says "Trouble sending. Retrying. Check options."
Tapping "Check option" gives: "resend now" or "Stop sending and delete".
Resend now fails immediately. Stop sending and delete, then trying a new message, fails immediately.
SMS seems to be working during testing today with several family members on the same and different carriers. I'm with Public Mobile in Canada. MMS are coming in from family on the same and other carriers, but nobody is receiving my MMS.
All my WhatsApp, Signal, Messenger messages are working as usual. Browsing, YouTube, etc all work on 5G data. I'm nowhere near my monthly data limit.
I have two SIM cards in use and this problem occurs on both. Using my 6t with the same two SIMs never had any issues.
I have tried:
General settings: - Clearing Google Messages cache several times - Restarting phone many times before and after clearing cache - Turning off RCS chats
Settings on both SIMs: - Switching the group message setting from MMS to individual SMS - Turning on/off auto download MMS when roaming (I am not roaming though) - Turning off get SMS delivery reports - Turning off show iPhone reactions as emoji
Restarted phone many times before, during, after changing these settings. Also tried resetting my APN settings although I checked and the automatic APN settings are the same as listed by my carrier Public Mobile Canada.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be very grateful to hear them. My last resort will be a factory reset. Thanks!

2024.05.20 19:25 david_prorok How to Download Audio Files from Facebook Messenger

How to Download Audio Messages from Facebook Messenger

If you're trying to save an audio message from Fb Messenger and can't find a direct download option, you can use your web browser's Developer Tools to capture the audio file. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it:

Step 1: Clear Browser Cache

Clearing your browser's cache ensures that the audio file will appear in the Network tab when played. This is crucial for capturing the file, as if you loaded it previously, it won't show up in the Network tab.

Step 2: Open Developer Tools

You can access Developer Tools in most browsers with a keyboard shortcut or through the menu.

Step 3: Navigate to the Network Tab

Once you have the Developer Tools open, find the Network tab at the top of the panel.
Click on it to view all network requests.

Step 4: Filter by "Media"

In the Network tab, use the filter option to select "Media".
This will narrow down the results to only media files, making it easier to spot the audio file.

Step 5: Play the Audio

Go back to Facebook Messenger and play the audio message you want to download.
You should see new entries appear in the Network tab.

Step 6: Copy the Audio File URL

Look for a file that appears as a Blob URL, typically starting with blob:https://www.messenger.com/....
Right-click on it and select "Copy Link Address" or "Copy URL".

Step 7: Download the File Using the Console

Switch to the Console tab within your Developer Tools:
  1. Type allow pasting and then hit Enter to enable pasting into the console.
  2. Paste the following JavaScript code, replacing YOUR_BLOB_URL_HERE with the URL you just copied:
var a = document.createElement('a'); a.href = 'YOUR_BLOB_URL_HERE'; a.download = 'downloaded_audio.wav'; // You can rename your file here document.body.appendChild(a); a.click(); document.body.removeChild(a);

Final Step: Check Your Downloads

The file should now be downloaded to your computer.
Check your default downloads directory to find the audio file.
Enjoy!!

2024.05.20 18:58 Desus70 Videos glitching/corrupting?

Hello, I've been having an issue with videos sent to me through Messenger, Whatsapp or even Gmail recently. When I receive a video, the thumbnail of it looks fine, but when I play it, the audio works but the video glitches out and there's a black screen and some small colored pixels. This happens even if I open the videos directly in the app without even downloading them. The same videos that don't work on my phone, do work on my pc and no matter how I get them to my phone, the second they're there, the same thing happens. I've tried emailing the video from pc to myself, I've tried sending it on discord and downloading it from there (at that point the video doesn't work on my phone on discord either), I've tried connecting my phone and directly copying it from my pc to my phone's storage and it doesn't work, but when I open the video from the phone's storage on my pc, it works normally. I'm at a loss and I'm really confused. I have a Samsung Galaxy A54. I appreciate any and all tips on what to do. Thank you.

2024.05.20 04:18 Kierates End to End is a pain in my rear end.

My Messenger was bugging whenever I'd download .pdfs from chats so I uninstalled and reinstalled. Now I've lost all my chat history from the last few months and it's asking me to "sync now".
Here's the thing. I never set up a pin. But it won't let me sync without it. I want to reset the pin but that requires a deletion step and I don't want to risk losing my history.
Has anyone else encounter this BS and what did you do? Advice appreciated.

2024.05.19 21:27 NewtProof1863 I caught my fiance messaging strippers

My fiance and I have been together for 4 years now. We are planning to get married this year. We've booked some of our suppliers already and have made downpayments. However, just recently, I secretly opened his phone and saw that he has this app tantan. He has been chatting a lot of girls inquiring about their walk services. I confronted him and he kept saying sorry and said that he won't do it again. I don't trust him fully but I accepted his apology. He even said he will do his best to earn my trust again. I believed (sort of). Weeks after, I opened his messenger out of curiosity and saw his message to another girl. He sent a wave emoticon to this woman. I searched the name online and found out she is a stripper. He got no reply from that person as far as I know. I confronted him again. This time I cried alot as I feel so disrespected for the second time. He asked apology and I still accepted him. This time, I already have doubts. I wanted to rethink my decisions. I wanted to end our relationship but i dont know where to start. I am afraid of changes. I am so used to our daily life. Another reason why I can't just end the relationship easily is because we have kids. Yes, we have two boys, a 2 year old and a 9month old. I grew up without a father. I don't want them to grow up the same way as I did. I want them to have a complete family.
Going back to the main topic, I let it slide. I tried to forget about it. A week after, I woke up early and he was still asleep. I wanted to check the time as I am still really sleepy but i couldn't go back to sleep as my baby is already awake as well. I saw his phone and checked the time. There I saw a notification from this app telegram. I saw a lot! He just sent a message to a group asking if there's someone near our subdivision as he is looking for "walk". No one replied to this message. I looked up other conversations. I read those direct messages. He has sent money to people for dirty contents. I also saw a thread of him meeting someone. All i can remember is that the girl said she is wearing pink. I couldn't read the whole conversation anymore so I woke him up. He was shocked and said he didn't go anywhere the other day. He deleted the app. He said that those were old messages when we were not still together. He even said that the message I saw in a group chat where he asked if there's someone nearby was sent a long time ago. I didn't argue anymore. I kept quite as I couldn't believe him anymore. I didn't even cry this time. I just asked him what did I do to deserve it. He kept saying sorry. Same words as before. Imagine , it's not even a month since the last incident and there he is. I felt betrayed, disrespected. I felt disgusted by just looking at him. I didn't ask for a breakup but I don't trust him anymore. I installed telegram to look for his message in the groupchat. Yes i can still remember the chat name. There I saw his message with his profile. The date shows May 19. Just yesterday. He is even proud with his face as he uploaded it as his display picture. Gross! Disgusting.
I haven't broken up with him. Still it doesn't change the fact that I don't think I should continue the wedding this December. Tomorrow we are planning to pay for the food and venue supplier but I think I am going to postpone that for now. However, I don't plan to break up with him yet as I need to create a plan. I need to enroll to a driving course first so when we breakup, I don't need to sell my car. We bought a car but it's under my name so it's mine. I also need to see if I can manage all the monthly bills when he is gone. I earn almost twice as his income so i think i can manage but I wanted to make sure as I have 2 kids. But to be honest, i am not sure what I should do
Any advice please?
Ps. Sorry for the long rant. I just wanted to get this out of my chest. I have no one to share this problem to.

2024.05.19 20:27 ky420 Having issues with site... Works on my other computer just not the one i need. Have tried dif browsers. Loads some or non and and just stops

when I open a new tab it just stops loading stays blank.. I really don't understand it. I cleared the cache and offline website data as well as site settings and it didn't help. Using the latest firefox. Help would be appreciated as I do most torrenting on this old pc. It has win 7 on it but I wouldn't think that would be causing the issue. The other works fine on 8.1 and its worked for years just recently started doing this consistently.
Anyone else have this happen? I go to try and open trending or a particular movie and it doesn't even finish loading anything at times and other times it loads some and others all but its worse now than ever and I cannot even browse.
I have also tried the alternatives listed at the top of this sub.. Some work better than others but they all seem to be doing the same thing. Like I can click it sometimes or open a new tab and it wont even put the web address in the adress bar. I do it manually and it still wont load. Its like something is stopping the connection.
https://imgur.com/a/8MeGF94
i can still search and it will load for whatever reason but when i try to click something to download it that page usually wont load so i cant grab the magnets. I am having to send them from the other pc through fb messenger and its really frustrating

2024.05.19 09:04 Charmed264 My first time getting scammed

I posted my resume on Craigslist trying to get some sort of work from home job.
A woman emailed me: “I am currently looking for a business personal assistant just for you to know the position is an home based job, I live in Toronto Ontario but currently out of the Country for roadshows, that's why I need someone reliable to help me with my tight schedule. Do you have a Laptop/PC you can be working on?”
I said yes, and asked about the schedule and pay. She replied and said: “Ok good. So we operate a custom home building company, android developer and into buying and selling of antiques and artifacts. I'm an extremely busy person just online here looking for a personal assistant who will be willing to reduce me from a multi-task I go through all day online. Your duties just entails sending and receiving emails from my clients, taking orders and making enquires, I’d instruct you on how to go through with them as time goes on.You'd be working for 3-4hrs daily; 10am-1pm or 4pm-7pm and the hours can be flexible. So about the pay, the payment is dependent it could be a direct deposit or a Cheque and the pay is $580 weekly. Which bank do you operate with?”
I then told her what bank I use and that my schedule is wide open. She then said: “Ok good, so you'd be having an online interview via text just Q&A processing. It would be performed on a telegram platform. I believe you have a telegram messenger app?”
Looking back that was a red flag but I was desperate.
She then said let’s chat on WhatsApp (which I didn’t have but I downloaded it to chat with her). Also a red flag🤦‍♀️
I emailed about five “clients” about various things that were consistent with the work she said she does. They discussed certain items, dates, payments, prices etc.
Well the job was a scam. She asked I get 2 $100 gift cards as a thank you for her clients. I emailed a bunch of her clients, she had a website and all this info to corroborate her story. So I stupidly believed her. She sent me two cheques each for $100 for the gift cards. I deposited them, went out and got the gift cards and sent pictures of them to each of her clients. Anyways everything seemed normal, then she asked I get another gift card for a different client I emailed with, again with a cheque. I finally said no and asked she send the money by e-transfer or direct deposit. She said she couldn’t for whatever reason. She said the cheques were good and they’ll go through. After I expressed fear that they wouldn’t.
Because they were Apple gift cards and they have codes you just scan. I checked and both of the cards are drained. I called my bank and they said because I deposited the cheques there’s nothing they can do. And when the cheques inevitably bounce/come up as fraud a hold will be put on my account and I’ll need to pay the $200. Money I don’t have. It seemed genuine at the time, I feel so stupid and disappointed in humanity honestly.
I was already scraping change together just to buy food and I’m many months behind on rent; now it’s been made so much worse. Ultimately I’m just tired of all of this. I’m only 20 years old, yet I fell for it because of my desperation for money. My desperation made me blind to the obvious red flags.
My friends and family comforted me and said I’m not stupid, it was just an elaborate scam. I don’t really believe them, I mean looking back it was so obvious!! But they made me feel like a dumb kid and that’s something I already deal with in my day to day (why is a long story). I figured at least at this job I’d have people take me seriously. But instead I was made a fool.
Sorry for the novel!

2024.05.19 07:53 scidsg Principles of a Tip Line Platform: A research-based way to evaluate whistleblower systems

Principles of a Tip Line Platform: A research-based way to evaluate whistleblower systems
Article Cover Showing List of Principles and Names of Researchers
Thanks to the good work of academic researchers across the globe, we have a data-driven way to evaluate the quality of whistleblower software. The papers we’ve looked to for this article include:
The authors lists the characteristics of a whistleblower submission system. They include:
  1. Usability of the Software
  2. Authenticity of the Receiver
  3. Plausible Deniability of the Whistleblower
  4. Availability of the System
  5. Anonymity of the Whistleblower
  6. Confidentiality and Integrity of the Disclosures

1. Usability of the Software

Managed Service
Usability is the linchpin of any good software system. No matter what your value proposition is — the most private, secure, or whatever — if your targeted audience cannot use the software, no amount of engineering genius will make a difference. As researcher Joakim Uddholm puts it:
“The system must be usable for both whistleblowers and journalists. Whistleblowers must be able to use the system without the protection features getting too much in the way, and journalists must be able to use the system without it interfering too much with their work routines.”
A key differentiator for Hush Line is that we’re a managed service, meaning you don’t have to host core infrastructure, operate dedicated networks, or hire specialists to start using the service. All a user needs to do to have an anonymous tip line is register an account.
UI for Hush Line Registration page
By providing a centralized service, we significantly reduce the risk of user error, making the service more consistent, predictable, and trustworthy.

Email Delivery

Hush Line can deliver messages directly to your email inbox. Users may enter their preferred SMTP information from Gmail or Riseup, for example, and any message submitted to their tip line will be delivered to their email account. Enabling users to set it and forget it makes using Hush Line effortless and integrates into the systems they’re already using.
SMTP Hush Line Settings

Clearnet and Tor Addresses

Hush Line is also available on both Clearnet and Tor Onion addresses. This approach is critical for users where Tor might be blocked or having anonymizing software on their device could be incriminating, like in the case of Ola Bini in Ecuador.
Screenshot of Ola Bini’s tweet about his conviction.
Since Hush Line can be accessed over a Clearnet address with the default browser already on your phone, your fingerprint will be the same as everyone else who just bought a new phone.

Making PGP Easy

Before, using PGP meant adopting cumbersome workflows that even stumped journalists at the heart of the Snowden disclosures. Journalist Glenn Greenwald didn’t have PGP set up, and didn’t have the time to learn how to do it, resulting in Snowden not being able to securely contact him. Even Snowden forgot to send his PGP key to journalists when initially contacting them.
Inbox view with Mailvelope browser extension.
Hush Line attempts to solve this problem through our integration of Mailvelope, a powerful open-source browser extension for Chrome and Firefox that enables users to create keys, decrypt and encrypt message directly in their browser, and export their public PGP key. For tip line owners, once adding their PGP key to Hush Line, all messages are end-to-end encrypted by default and when a tip comes in, they can read it within the Hush Line app. For whistleblowers, this means they don’t need to do anything to send a secure, anonymous message.

2. Authenticity of the Receiver

Verification System

Hush Line has a verification system for journalists, organizations, activists, or other public figures. Verified accounts receive a special badge on their message submission page so that people submitting messages know they’re contacting the right person. To be verified, users must submit proper information to prove their identity or approval to represent a company.
Submit Message page with a “Verified Account” badge.

Opt-In User Directory

Users may opt-in to a public directory where others can find their address. The default tab is prioritized to make it easy to find verified users. The directory is searchable, and a whistleblower can have confidence of the validity of an address.
Hush Line User Directory page

Account Reporting

The verification system and user directories are two ways to help ensure the authenticity of the receiver, but to help ensure the platform’s health, we enable users who have logged in to report spam or abuse accounts. We will address reported accounts immediately to determine the best next steps, whether deleting the account, sending a warning message, or other appropriate methods.

3. Plausible Deniability of the Whistleblower

No Downloads

Hush Line is accessible over a Clearnet address, so a user doesn’t have to download any new software to send an anonymous message. If someone wants to use a Tor-only tip line service on their mobile device, they must sign in to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. To download Tor Browser, you need to provide a valid email address or phone number and possibly payment information, all considered personally identifiable information. Now that you’ve downloaded new software on your phone, your “fingerprint” has become unique to who you are. If you only have Robinhood, Tor Browser, Mastodon, Chrome, and Slack on your phone, the likelihood of someone else having only those same apps becomes less likely. If you have even 50 apps, your fingerprint will be more associated with you, possibly entirely unique. The more unique your fingerprint is, the less realistic a plausible deniability claim is.

One-Way Messaging

Most people fail to report information because they fear retaliation and the significant risks of whistleblowing. Hush Line is a one-way messenger explicitly designed to protect the individual submitting the message. If the person submitting a message feels comfortable enough to leave a contact method, they may or can submit a message without any further involvement.

Account-Free for Whistleblowers

Someone submitting a message does not need to create an account to use the app. This crucial feature allows a whistleblower to reduce the trail of information they leave behind. No credentials can be found if you have no username or password to save. And since Hush Line requires no special software, a message can be submitted from any phone or computer, from a pubic library or internet cafe, for example.

4. Availability of the System

Centralized Services

By providing a centralized service, Hush Line is more reliably available by only requiring a single system to be maintained and secured. Centralizing our services protects users by removing the responsibility of managing specialized infrastructure and following complex workflows, which, if done incorrectly, could have real-world implications.
Decentralized systems help with censorship resistance (and Hush Line can also be self-hosted), but when there are tens, hundreds, or thousands of separate instances all disconnected from each other, there is no way to ensure the quality of those systems. What other software is on the server? Is it updated? Are any ports open? Who currently has or has had access? What hardware are they using? It’s impossible and foolhardy to assume that everyone will follow best practices consistently.
An analogous example of the inherent risks of decentralization is from the Mastodon network — a decentralized version of Twitter where anyone can run an instance. The database for Kolektiva.social, a service tailored to anarchist users, was compromised. In 2023, the home of its admin was raided for an unrelated event, and the FBI seized an unencrypted database backup.

5. Anonymity of the Whistleblower

Leaking IP Addresses

To make Hush Line accessible to as many people as possible, the app is available on a publicly accessible URL, which is what you might expect from any web service. However, when using a Clearnet URL, leaking a user’s IP address is a real possibility.
To help defend against this, we scrub IP addresses from our access logs to minimize the risk of this happening when you use our app. To remove the possibility of IP leaks in high-threat scenarios, we deploy Hush Line as a Tor Onion service.

Tor Support

Tor is a network that anonymizes your internet browsing activity. It acts as a proxy by randomly routing your request through its network of relays, hiding who is making the request. Tor also has a feature called Onion Services. An Onion service makes a website or application accessible through a special .onion address that is only available through the Tor Browser.
Message submission onion site.
When using a regular browser like Chrome or Firefox, when you enter an address like hushline.app the browser needs to know the server address for that URL. A long chain of services helps make it possible, from your ISP to DNS services, the server running the app, and more to make it possible to type something memorable like hushline.app instead of remembering and entering 64.23.155.36. Just as the browser needs to know the IP address of the target web server, your IP address is also necessary to know where to send the information.
Your IP address is essentially your customer ID for your internet service provider. All someone with the necessary authority needs to do is request the information of the owner of that IP, and your real identity is exposed.
Onion services defeat this kind of threat because they don’t operate using the same DNS and IP protocols. Tor Browser is connected to the Tor anonymizing network, and so are the Onion services that exist within it. When someone uses a .onion address, the request from the browser to the server and back never leaves the Tor network, completely sidestepping IP leakage.
To access Hush Line’s information site using our Onion address, enter `http://w25rxxn62dgix7qdbw4ot37m2y4ty7kxfrinspw4ce7jzse7pb6rhaqd.onion/\`, or to access the app’s Onion site, enter `http://ghj4vviaoccj4tj2r3ss52arbnchkfvs7uft4sgtrkuvdha5zjgo6yqd.onion\` in Tor Browser.

Timing Correlation

To know that two people are talking to each other, you don’t need to know the contents of their messages if you have enough metadata about the conversation. One such way to reveal important context about who might be talking to each other is to learn when the messages were sent. If there’s a flurry of activity from two accounts — one after the other, repeatedly, pausing at similar times, being active at similar times— someone analyzing the logs might assume those accounts are talking to each other.
To address this, we do not timestamp messages or relate accounts in any way. An attacker with access to the server cannot relate two messages on the platform, which is largely irrelevant as Hush Line is designed as a one-way messenger.

6. Confidentiality and Integrity of the Disclosures

Message Encryption

Hush Line uses PGP for message encryption, making the key owner the only one technically able to read the decrypted messages. Messages are end-to-end encrypted using OpenPGP.js, meaning our server will never see the decrypted contents.
Hush Line Inbox with an encrypted message.
We’re proactive about communicating with senders and receivers about the importance of the tip line owner adding their public PGP key, and we discourage sharing sensitive information if the receiver doesn’t encrypt their messages.
Unencrypted warning on a message submission page.

HTTPS

We use Let’s Encrypt for HTTPS certificates. When a site uses HTTPS, requests use the TLS protocol to encrypt data in transit from the browser to the server and back. This protects your activity from being monitored or tampered with while using the app.
For an attacker who can monitor network connections, instead of seeing which page you’re on or who you’re submitting a message to, the primary URL is only visible. So if a message submitter is on https://hushline.app/submit_message/artvandelay the recipient remains unobservable, and the only thing visible to a network snoop is https://hushline.app/.

Conclusion

There are many tip-line solutions on the market, and it can be intimidating to choose the right one for you. We hope this article gives you a data-driven way to evaluate the software that fits your needs.

2024.05.18 17:28 Traditional-Bit-4320 Recovery request

I just found this reddit page so i will try -
Hi all and hi support my name is Adam Valkossak
I want to request recovery here also since people can see it and decide if your work is competent enough to do this or you are useless same as the bot answers in emails and ingame support.
UID: 5124102300
Nicknames: YourDickSmells, PropanBhutanOf, ×ASAP×Ferg×, kokotikmalinky, KrucifixX
Linked facebook contacts: lubomirbily, petervalkossak, KristiXx
Recent players nicknames: £BetA£ (Not my friend)
Currently in wrong hands used nicknames: Prostezmrd11, Prost3zmrdlif3
The most progress email sounded like this:
  1. The reason it being stolen is that my passwords were leaked when i sold my old device on Facebook marketplace. The first account stolen was Twitter and my ingame login was Twitter.
  2. I tried to contact him via ingame chat where he told me he bought my account from someone else called Taurus or Tauros (i have chat screenshot in Slovak and Czech language and if you translate it you can verify it yourself) photos will be added to this email. He then didnt wanted to talk so i got my friend to ask him about it where he told him his name on Facebook Stefan Krikava which i checked the email and it was correct.
3.When i contacted Krikava he told me okay he will give the account back to me but he wanted from me over 1000€ so he wanted to sell me back my account ( there are resellers which do that in CZ/SK pubg mobile scene and multiple abroad resellers ). So he has given the account to me and waited for me to send him money, after 2 weeks he did a claim because he had all the recent informations and UC receipts. (I have our whole conversation saved in Facebook Messenger as a proof). I got back my account for 2 weeks via his Facebook and i linked my own email address. I dont remember which one it was now but iam sure i can check that if needed.
Right now he doesnt contact me even when i told him i reported this to police.
All i want is back my account where i have memories of over 4 years with manny friends and my brother. I can show and tell you anything just work with me please.
If you translate the Messenger chat he was making fun of me and 24.09.2023 he said that i didnt give him 1024€ so he did claim and doesnt want to give back my account anymore.
Thank you again for response iam documenting the whole proccess over 2 years and hopefuly the outcome will be good.
Best regards,
Valkoššák Adam
I have also put payments, conversations, twitter proofs of email being changed 3 times.
I put info of devices used, dates of changes, simply everything what i had i put there.
Their response was that it has been more than one year so they dont know. I have lately checked how long you have to store those payment informations and changes informations and it was always atleast 5 years.
Since i have shown him laughing at me and he admited in chat it was mine and he will sell it to me you have proof of my ownership.
To this day i dont understand where is problem when i showed you proofs from 2018 to 2022 may and then i showed you clear proof of chat ingame that he bought the account from Tauros which isnt allowed so i sugest you give it back and blackmail his info or something. Also tauros since he is known scammer in cz/sk. I will try to add as much proofs also here.
The whole situation - playing from 2018 to 2022 may when it was stolen via Twitter login because of stolen Twitter account, 2 years of unsuccessful requests on not working support pages because i didnt use ciaomi redmi 9 but new iphone 13 and other devices, i got in contact with him he wanted to sell it for 1024€ which i didnt pay but played for 2 weeks from his Facebook login and had linked my own email, he did claim since i didnt pay him with recent info and device, tried to recover it back to me with my old info and also his payments but unsuccessful since i have different device, he blocked me but iam thinking of driving to him and visit him in person.
I have - proofs as payments, names, photos of gameplay and conversations with friends and brother to may 2022 then i have proofs of chat conversation with him ingame and on facebook where he clearly states he got it for free or bought it from Tauros and he doesnt want to give it back for free, i have proofs of email changes on Twitter account from log i downloaded and email i got from Twitter of me recovering my twitter account.
If you need something more as proof feel free to ask, i will add as much photos as i can if i can. Probably photos will be added in comments or somewhere because i use web on iphone and i dont see /add photos\ button.
