In October 2022, I signed a contract for a used 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer with a balance of 11,400. It was a horrible purchase, we had to get the transmission replaced within a month of having it. The dealership paid for it, we just had to pay the $100 deductible.
A few weeks later, I got a flat tire out of nowhere while on the way to work, and my coworker pointed out that my tires had patches all over them. Our brakes also started failing, but when we called the car lot, they said they didn’t cover wearable parts.
Unfortunately, I lost control of the steering wheel in December 2022 on an exit ramp and ended up “totaling” the car. My insurance said they would pay the value of the car ($2,638.88) and take it off my hands, or I could keep it and they would pay the car lot $1,796.00 of its value. It still ran and I didn’t want to be left without a car, plus I was under the impression that I would still have to pay off the contract if the insurance paid off the value of the car. It wasn’t until over a year later that the car lot told me that after the insurance paid it off, I wouldn’t owe the rest of the balance.
I feel like the only reason they let me keep the car was to keep getting money from me. They already knew it was a shitty car and they allowed me to keep making payments on it when they should’ve taken it back when it was totaled, despite knowing I was pregnant and having specifically asked for a family car when I bought it.
This decision left me with a car note I couldn’t afford, and car-less since no dealership would give me a car while still paying it off. The only reason why I kept paying the note was because I didn’t want a repo on my credit. I was giving them all my money while trying to take care of my son, from when he was a newborn until he was over a year old.
I kept paying off a car that didn’t work for over a year, until March 2024 when I finally decided to let it go as a voluntary repossession. The manager called me and said I would be sued and the case would be sent to the sheriffs department. I said “yall are stupid” and he said “no, you’re stupid”, and hung up the phone. When I left a review on google, the lot lied by saying that they never called me stupid, but that I had started with the insults.
I know I violated the contract, but could I at least try to get the judge to give me some leniency because of the emotional damage I’ve had while being pregnant/postpartum due to the incompetence of this used car dealership? They sold me a car that was essentially a death trap - barely functioning engine, patched-up tires, and low pedal brakes. WHILE PREGNANT.
Please help, I’m a 22 year old girl who knows absolutely nothing.

Hi all, earlier this year my son bought a car, the seller could not provide the logbook or new keeper slip, so a new one was applied for, I filled the v62 out for him and not knowing the exact date of purchase put new years eve down, as I knew this was definitely before actual date.. (A mistake? Irrelevant maybe??)
Throughout this time the car remained on our private drive, where it had been trailered to.

He is only marked as keeper from 14th March, and payed the duty ASAP to cover March, surely previous keeper has liability, seems they are trying to pin his unpaid tax on new keeper? No prior contact, so I don't believe it's escalated charges. Just a bit lost as to how to move forward, the more nominal fine it wouldn't be worth challenging, but at this rate instinct is to appeal it, or at least offer mitigatiin at a hearing as he had no means to tax or sorn until that v5 arrived, anybody been in this position, any advice appreciated

Without going into all the nitty gritty details:
I purchased a used car from an official dealership of a major car manufacturer in 2021, with the agreement that I'd be swapping it for a better deal on a brand new car in 2022 once it was delivered.
Come time for the new car to arrive, there was no mention of the exchange, and I have few bits in writing that lead to/indicate this but there is nothing that says straight up that it was meant to be an exchange per se, but I have costs written down by the dealership on things like transferring the dash cam, the price they'd pay for the used car in exchange, etc.
The dealership refused to respect the previous agreement due to management changes, they've gone through 2 management changes and all the original staff left.
I contacted the manufacturer about this and they said they have "dealership standards" (and listed some points from them), but refuse to enforce them.
I contacted the finance company which is part of the manufacturer group, and they tell me to contact the manufacturer or dealership.
The manufacturer tells me to contact the finance company or dealership.
The dealership refuses to correspond with me, tried reaching out to their head office too but they refuse to respond.
I also tried reaching out to The Motor Ombudsman a couple of months ago, but haven't heard anything back from them either.
I'm at my wits end here. I don't know who to contact or how to go about getting this resolved before my finance agreement ends in November.

I'm in my mid thirties, single, and have been in the office work force almost full-time since 2009, when I took my first full-time job after college. So far I'd say I've prioritized other things in life instead of investing and saving, and am a total investing/personal finance rookie, but I have been contributing pretty regularly to the 401Ks I've had with different employers. I feel I am doing OK overall in saving toward retirement through those accounts.
Where I feel quite behind is in accumulating savings that can be used toward one or more big-ticket items in the nearer term, specifically buying a decent house, which I'd like to be able to do in about 10 years' time and currently have almost no liquid savings toward. (I live in one of the most expensive cities in the U.S. now, might move somewhere *slightly* smaller if stars align personally and professionally, but probably won't be going anywhere that has real estate anyone would consider "cheap".) My goal is to have $200K in relatively liquid funds to make a down payment on a house in 10 years' time, which is the main purpose for the investment strategy that I'm posting below. I plan to start with a small investment of about $5K now into something like the fund below (that's the spare cash I have for this right now), which I will monitor for performance and keep contributing to each month afterward. I know, it's a heavy lift to get from here to there.
With this in mind, I'd love everyone's thoughts on the mix of stock and bond ETFs below. I'm targeting 70% stocks and 30% bonds now (see the fine print under "Goal 1" below for more on this) but could be persuaded that a different mix is right for my goal of buying a house (My 401K investments are a little more conservative than this in their allocation, about 60-40.) I've highlighted the ETF in each class below that seems like the best option to me based on the limited data I've gathered, using Fidelity (also the platform that generated the basis for this investment plan via its "ETF Portfolio Builder," and the platform I think I will use to purchase the ETFs). I'm all for your takes on which of these ETFs seem best, any others I'm missing, whole classes of investments that you think I should be considering, etc. For example, do you see an advantage to picking ETFs across sectors as I have below, vs. just setting up an even more automated target-date account?
I could also use everyone's thoughts on the idea of putting money into a stock-heavy mix of investments RIGHT NOW, with the stock market at historic highs (but probably not done climbing), conflicts underway around the world, a crazy presidential election coming up in November, etc. People say not to try to time the market, but... should I wait until the market cools off a bit or takes a dip before jumping in?

Hi All, recently went to a toyota dealer and purchased a new car. All up the car costed 36972.80, however I financed it and paid 5k as a deposit. After all fees and including the deposit the total cost of the car is 46,094.84. I am paying 637.93 a month for 36 months with a balloon payment of 18,767 at the end of the 3 years.

"That was the third violent weird guy I have killed today.. This day keeps getting better and more thrilling by the minute!"
Grabbing his phone and turning it on, The Badass Sheriff starts to scroll through random pictures that his best friend, Louie, sent him. All of them are normal and wholesome, which is nice. Clyde giggles happily while he looks at them. Then, he begins texting him, asking if there's anything exciting going on where he's at, his friend tells him no, nothing yet.. but the street vendors are giving their food away for free right now! 'Ah, neat..!', Clyde thinks, smiling cheerily. Before he gets to ask him to grab a hot dog for him, he hears a terrified player outside, screaming for help, they also sound like they're crying. The Badass Sheriff grins, it's time for more action! Not wanting to forget his shotgun again, he picks it up and then runs out of his office. He spots a violent weird guy chasing down a teenage boy in a distant, but not that far away. The poor kid trips and falls to the ground, then fearfully begs him not to kill him as he pulls his sign out. So, what does Clyde do? He takes a slightly big rock near him and then tosses it at the violent weird guy. It hits him right on the head, to which he immediately turns his head to look at The Badass Sheriff, growling angrily.
"HEY, GLITCH-FACED DITCH! Let's play..!"
Now that he's focused on Clyde instead of the horrified teen, the violent weird guy charges towards him, letting out a heavily distorted screech. The colorful badass adult waits and waits... and then instantly whacks him hard across the face with his shotgun, causing him to fall down to the ground. The violent weird guy attempts to get back up, but Clyde kicks him in the face and does the same to his right hand, making his sign fly off a few feet away. With a triumphant grin, The Badass Sheriff puts his left leg on his chest, keeping the violent weird guy down. Cocking his shotgun, he aims at his face.
"Say cheese, baby."
*BANG!*
The weird guy has been killed. The teary-eyed teenager approaches Clyde, and thanks him profusely for saving his life. Chuckling joyfully, he reassures the boy that no one would harm or kill anyone when he's around, then asks him if he wants to go to his office and chat with him. The teen's eyes light up. He says yes! Going back to the building, they start talking about things. Apparently, the boy accidentally bumped into the weird guy and thought he apologized to him, but realized he didn't, actually. The Badass Sheriff nods a little, thinking, 'Sadly, an extremely common mistake..'. A few more minutes of them simply chatting, the teen tells him that his friends are in the supermarket, waiting for him. Kind of awkwardly, he asks Clyde if he can take him there, he would love to! The boy thanks him again and they leave the office. Four minutes pass, they reach the supermarket, the teen gets out of the car, waving good-bye to The Badass Sheriff. He does the same, then drives off back to his office.
It's getting dark now, seems like a perfect time to go shopping! Clyde and Louie are heading to the largest mall in the game, StarDawn Mall. It was his friend's idea, so why not? After parking the car, the two sheriffs exit the vehicle and enter the massive building. As they walk around and talk, some players spot and greet them happily. A few approach The Badass Sheriff, asking for his autograph on their notebooks, completely ignoring Louie. The Cowardly Sheriff is sad... the poor guy. Clyde notices and comforts him, telling him that eventually, they will respect him too. But when? Who knows. Clyde then informs the players that he's not gonna do anything for them yet, as he's on a short break with his best pal at the moment. They understand and move aside for them to continue strolling. Going up to the second floor, some MORE players greet them cheerily. A little happy, Louie asks his friend if they can go and buy bracelets for the both of them, Clyde says of course, let's go there! The Cowardly Sheriff is excited!! Walking through a couple of hallways, they enter a shop. As he looks around, Louie finds a pair of matching star-shaped bracelets, he picks them up and goes to the counter, he then purchases them. He gives one of them to Clyde, who wears it on his right wrist. Louie also wears the other one, on his left wrist. The cashier joyfully thanks them for shopping as they leave the store.
They proceed to stroll through the floor, talking about stuff and sharing stories. ... Then, The Cowardly Sheriff notices something behind them, and pats Clyde on the shoulder twice, sweating nervously.
"Umm, Clyde..? There's a weird guy next to the glasses store, he's carrying a teenager. The kid looks distressed..!!"
Stopping in his tracks, The Badass Sheriff turns around to look at the weird guy, who notices him. The teen boy is struggling to set himself free. Clyde's smile turns to a frown.
"Put him down."
The weird guy doesn't do anything, he's starting to sweat.
"Put the kid down."
Still nothing. There's a broken bench leg lying next to Clyde's left leg, so he grabs it.
"I'm not asking again. Do it.. now."
The weird guy finally lets go of the teenager, his arms slightly raised, sweating profusely. The boy flees and runs to another hallway, thanking The Badass Sheriff in fear. Clyde smiles once more, and drops the bench leg. He nods once at the mute grey adult, who then walks away, trembling. Him and Louie continue to walk around the mall. Nothing much is happening right now, everything is just fine! A few hours later, they leave the building and enter Clyde's car. It's time to go back now...
They had tons of fun... and their break is over.
It's time to protect and save more players!

THERE IT IS, THE PROPER ENDING TO THIS INCIDENT!
EVEN THOUGH I DESPISE ONE OF THE SHERIFFS, THIS STORY WAS QUITE ENTERTAINING AND INTRIGUING, AND IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES.

After parking the car, the two sheriffs exit the vehicle and enter the massive building. As they walk around and talk, some players spot and greet them happily. A few approach The Badass Sheriff, asking for his autograph on their notebooks, completely ignoring Louie. The Cowardly Sheriff is sad... the poor guy. Clyde notices and comforts him, telling him that eventually, they will respect him too. But when? Who knows. Clyde then informs the players that he's not gonna do anything for them yet, as he's on a short break with his best pal at the moment. They understand and move aside for them to continue strolling. Going up to the second floor, some MORE players greet them cheerily. A little happy, Louie asks his friend if they can go and buy bracelets for the both of them, Clyde says of course, let's go there! The Cowardly Sheriff is excited!! Walking through a couple of hallways, they enter a shop. As he looks around, Louie finds a pair of matching star-shaped bracelets, he picks them up and goes to the counter, he then purchases them. He gives one of them to Clyde, who wears it on his right wrist. Louie also wears the other one, on his left wrist. The cashier joyfully thanks them for shopping as they leave the store.
They proceed to stroll through the floor, talking about stuff and sharing stories. ... Then, The Cowardly Sheriff notices something behind them, and pats Clyde on the shoulder twice, sweating nervously.
"Umm, Clyde..? There's a weird guy next to the glasses store, he's carrying a teenager. The kid looks distressed..!!"
Stopping in his tracks, The Badass Sheriff turns around to look at the weird guy, who notices him. The teen boy is struggling to set himself free. Clyde's smile turns to a frown.
"Put him down."
The weird guy doesn't do anything, he's starting to sweat.
"Put the kid down."
Still nothing. There's a broken bench leg lying next to Clyde's left leg, so he grabs it.
"I'm not asking again. Do it.. now."
The weird guy finally lets go of the teenager, his arms slightly raised, sweating profusely. The boy flees and runs to another hallway, thanking The Badass Sheriff in fear. Clyde smiles once more, and drops the bench leg. He nods once at the mute grey adult, who then walks away, trembling. Him and Louie continue to walk around the mall. Nothing much is happening right now, everything is just fine! A few hours later, they leave the building and enter Clyde's car. It's time to go back now...

I'm NOT negotiating anyone "down" below what they are asking. Mid xxx is the highest that I'm being asked* ... The other fools and I (61M) are sending DM's to each other to compare what is being asked. We are not exchanging negotiating techniques, nor trying to create a cartel for keeping prices low (as was suggested a couple days ago).
I don't live on a coast, but the cost of living is in my county is very similar to Scottsdale, Austin, Cherry Creek, Evanston, Barrington, Brentwood, Leawood, Edina, Ladue... so I don't think you can brush off my experiences as "just midwest bumpkins and hillbillies". (btw, yah I may have just named my home city, and the location of several of my new DM-friends. We're doing ok, even if aren't pretending to be on a coastal whaling expedition)
I am in process of trying to efficiently find a goldilocks scenario for a LTR and have been actively talking with 6 - 7 girls (4 from SD.com, 1 from WYP.com, 2 from freestyling at my favorite club). Texting multiple times a day/night getting sexier and sexier. She's a 32yo knockout that had heads swiveling at the restaurant, and is exactly "my type".
It genuinely seems to me that these women (ranging in age from 22 to 36) are all very happy with the financial side of the arrangement, and they are all completely aware of my intent to have this next chapter of my life be a "forever thing". Dating can be painful, and I'm not going to be making my choices based on "market price", I'll be moving forward with a few, and then make a decision.

I currently live at home and only pay about $150 a month for rent and Another $100 a month for school. Im only working part time right now but would be making $6-700 a week if I went full time. My allegedly drug addicted neighbor’s abusive, violent and shocking behavior has evolved from her controlling when, and if I am allowed to use my front door, to me rehoming my cat and harming, my own body in fear of using my toilet.
When my neighbor first moved in, she was yelling and screaming in the hallway that my door is too loud she yelled and screamed that I don’t know who I’m messing with that. I need to set my ass down bitch and shut the hell up this went on for hours I scaring not only me but my cat Littles, at the time. I called the police and then told the operator never mind because I was afraid that police would only make it worse. Because I no longer could bear her banging on my door, banging on my walls, telling me she’s going to kill me that I’m nothing that she is going to fuck me up for daring to use my front door because the noise is too loud. I decided to use my back door knowing that this woman is on drugs. I have seen her drug dealer come in and out of her apartment and banging on her door looking for payment. So needless to say I’m afraid of her and her capabilities. Using the back door calmed her down for about a week. Then she eventually started up with the abuse again banging on my door, banging on the walls for hours, yelling and screaming that she’s going to kill me and that I don’t know who I’m messing with. At this point I did call the police and I have called the police on her many times and none of these times the police have done anything helpful and have never helped me get her under control. So now I’m terrified to leave or enter my home at all. I no longer run to the store and back home. If I’m out of my home, I stay out for hours. I think long and hard before I open my doors if it’s worth another abusive outburst. Since she moved in back in January, I no longer run to my favorite coffee shop and back home. My entire life now only consists of only leaving my home for essentials like food and work. I no longer use an alarm clock as she can hear it and this has created chaos in the mornings and it’s just no longer worth it. I try to keep a window open and face the window when I sleep, so the sunrise can wake me up instead of a loud alarm clock. If I have an appointment that I really can’t be late for I just sleep in my car so I can use the my alarm on my phone.
I no longer wait for the buzzer on my microwave to go off as it infuriates her and sends her into a rage proclaiming that I need to sit my ass down and “stop making a hot plate! I know you ain’t making no hot plate! Sit down and shut up bitch!” I have had to give away my cat Littles because the sound of him scraping his litter in the litter box at night made her so dangerously rageful that I no longer felt that this was a safe environment for him. What has started as me being forced to no longer use my front door has devolved into countless nights of me being curled up on my bed, crying and terrified to move off my bed for fear the creeks on the floor will send her into another hours long rage where she bangs on my walls and on her ceiling yelling in the hallway, and at my doorstep that she is going to kill me that she’s going to make me homeless, screaming that I’m a bitch and I’m a hoe and that I don’t know who I’m messing with. So I remain on my bed causing me multiple bladder infections. On nights I can no longer hold it and muster the courage to carefully quietly and slowly tiptoe to the toilet I don’t flush it after the sun goes down as I am aware that this causes her to be furious with me. I wait until at least 7:30 AM as this is an acceptable time for which she allows me to use my toilet. This has resulted in my toilet clogging at least five times since she has moved in. If you are wondering if I shower at night, the answer is of course not. I no longer use plastic shopping bags for my groceries and have switched to cloth not solely because of the environment but because the noise draws her into a violent verbally abusive rage. I grew up with a father, very similar to her, someone who would fly into abusive, narcissistic rages screaming for hours in my and my mothers face while she and I held each other on the couch or he would scream for hours outside of a bathroom door that I looked myself into protect me from him. The rage fueled punishments were for things like putting, a mug in the “wrong” side of the sink or forgetting what asked for at the store.
Dealing with this lead me to feel like I am worthless my whole life, and caused a lifelong battle with depression and anxiety. When my father died two years ago, I thought I was finally free of the verbal abuse. I thought I could finally rest. I started to be happy and gain some confidence only to be met with the same abuse at a home of my own that I once loved. I wait until at least 7:30 AM as this is an acceptable time for which she allows me to use my toilet. This has resulted in my toilet clogging at least five times since she has moved in. If you are wondering if I shower at night, the answer is of course not. I no longer use plastic shopping bags for my groceries and have switched to cloth not solely because of the environment but because the noise draws her into a violent verbally abusive rage. I grew up with a father, very similar to her, someone who would fly into abusive, narcissistic rages screaming for hours in my and my mothers face while she and I held each other on the couch or he would scream for hours outside of a bathroom door that I looked myself into protect me from him. The rage flu punishments were for things like putting, a mug in the “wrong” side of the sink or forgetting what asked for at the store.
Dealing with this lead me to feel like I am worthless my whole life, and caused a lifelong battle with depression and anxiety. When my father died two years ago, I thought I was finally free of the verbal abuse. I thought I could finally rest. I started to be happy and gain some confidence only to be met with the same abuse at a home of my own that I once loved. Because of my neighbor I am the same scared daughter, shaking and crying in a corner, terrified of moving in fear of angering my abuser. And still no one is protecting me.

Although this guy isn’t as heavy as #1 it’s a bit heavier than you’d expect. Solid Blade, good Action, only thing was that this guy came coated in like the worst blue coating. It got scratchy if you looked at it funny. So I put some elbow grease into using a scotch-brite pad to take off that coating but left it in the grooves and in the switch track etc. I think it looks 1000% cooler this way but it has been rather heavily modified. Paid 40 plus Tax on Aliexpress, so save yourself 20 bucks and a four week wait.

Blurb: If you’ve spent any time on the Chinese knives Sub you’ve heard of this guy. It was one of those knives that did a few minor tweaks to the original to come up with something perhaps slightly better, like including both front and rear flipper in addition to the hole, and including a longer backspacer. Someone had one tested and I think the verdict is generally that it is M390. Anyway, I have purchased four of these for the purposes of testing various surface mods like polishing and or burnishing and anodizing, and I just never got around to messing with this one, it’s still 100% stock. These are retailing on Ail for 113 but I’ll save you 20 bucks and the four week-wait.

The 0.5 cm ones, not the oem .33 cm ones. As a result, the action on this guy is just glassy. At least as good as my OEM bugouts. The narrows I’m throwing in at substantial discount. This is the OK knives version, so it’s not the one that totally sucks, probably titanium scales even (they weren’t magnetic). The real score here is that you’re getting a bugout that definitely has that smooth glossy action which can be hard to find on even an OEM bugout sometimes. Still saving you at least 25 bucks over what I paid for these and no-four-week-wait.

Hello! I am back with an update for my fellow Aussies on my experience with Astrohuas as an Australian. My Freewrite Smart Typewrite Gen 3 Ink Edition arrived today, Tuesday 21st of May. It has been quite the saga, one that makes me all the more determined to share my experience on this sub.
The last time I left you, my Ink was winging it's way from the offices of shipping forwarder service US to Oz in Oregon to me in Australia courtesy of FedEx International Priority. Some time on Friday, I got what appeared to be a phishing scam text. The text was supposedly from 'FedEx-Exp' and contained my full name, FedEx delivery/order number, a link to a payment service called BPoint and two customer service phone numbers for FedEx. What was this payment link for, you may ask? It was my customs duties and taxes bill, for roughly $247 AUD. I clicked through the link, despite my initial reservations. But the field that contained my name was my first name only, and it was half in caps and half in lower case. Too uneasy to continue, I closed down the web page and deleted the text, sure that it was some sort of particularly sophisticated scam. On Sunday, I received a random called from a landline in Victoria. As I do not know the number (and get more scam calls and texts than I care to discuss) I let the call go.
To my surprise, they left a voicemail. It was a very soft (almost inaudible) female voice once again giving my FedEx order number, the exact contents of my order and the same amount owing for customs duties and taxes. I use Google to track down FedEx's customer support line in Australia (it's 13 26 10 BTW), but of course it's a Sunday and nobody is there to answer my call. I resolve to call FedEx myself after work on Monday.
Thankfully, US to Oz came to the rescue once more. In the early hours of Monday morning, I get an email from Justin at US to Oz, telling me he needs a confirmed phone number for me as Australian customs are trying to get a hold of me. He informed me that we had just a few days to resolve the duties & taxes issue before the charming (not) Australian Border Force/Customs charged him as the sender the full shipping fee for returning my order to the US if the fees and duties were not paid. I promptly confirmed my phone number and emailed Justin a screenshot of the second 'payment' text I had received on Sunday, and he confirmed it was legitimate and not a scam. I paid via credit card through the secure portal/web page in the text and emailed Justin to confirm that I had paid. It is worth noting that duties and taxes are calculated including the cost of shipping, not just the value of the items in the order. The rest of the process was fairly easy, but as I only paid my duties in the early hours of Monday morning my shipment was delayed by a day, finally arriving today on Tuesday afternoon.
Only one question remains -
What the ACTUAL FUCK FedEx? My tracking emails from FedEx contained no reference to or mention of the customs duties & taxes payment process. It looked so much like a scam I almost lost my order altogether. I knew I would have to pay them, but the scam-adjacent texts and anonymous voicemails from someone who is barely audible and does not even identify where the call is coming from (yes, really) is absolutely ridiculous.
Anyway - moving on. I had already ordered a set of 90's themed keycaps and a portable lap desk thingy for my Ink, which arrived ahead of the device itself. My first order of business was connecting the Ink to wifi, which was very easy after the Ink booted up for the first time. Setting up Postbox was easy enough (done from the device rather than online) and getting it to sync to my Google Drive was super easy. I did a test document, tested the shredding function from Postbox and all was working seamlessly. I then set about installing two firmware updates and one software update (easily done if you consult the start up manual). The firmware updates you can control from the device, but the software updates seem more random. I then set about changing the lettered keys in the centre of the keyboard for the 90's themed keycaps I purchased - this was done pretty easily with the puller included with keycap kit. I may restore the original black keycaps if I get to the point where I am confidently touch typing on the new keyboard, otherwise they are definitely hard to see in anything but absolutely ideal lighting conditions.
I am now leaving it to charge overnight as the battery was only half charged upon arrival. All in all I am extremely happy with my purchase so far (FedEx & customs drama aside). For those readers keeping score at home, the initial order from Astrohaus was $865USD/ $1373 AUD, shipping to Australia was $238 USD/ $362 AUD and customs duties and taxes was approx $250 AUD after credit card surcharges. That's a total of $1985 AUD for the Freewrite Smart Typewriter 3rd Gen (Ink Special Edition) plus the felt and leather sleeve and the 2 year extended warranty. Is it worth it? Only time will tell. I would also highly recommend Justin and his team at US to Oz for the excellent and speedy service and all the help he was able to offer throughout the purchasing process.

The rest of the process was fairly easy, but as I only paid my duties in the early hours of Monday morning my shipment was delayed by a day, finally arriving today on Tuesday afternoon.
Only one question remains -
What the ACTUAL FUCK FedEx? My tracking emails from FedEx contained no reference to or mention of the customs duties & taxes payment process. It looked so much like a scam I almost lost my order altogether. I knew I would have to pay them, but the scam-adjacent texts and anonymous voicemails from someone who is barely audible and does not even identify where the call is coming from (yes, really) is absolutely ridiculous.
Anyway - moving on. I had already ordered a set of 90's themed keycaps and a portable lap desk thingy for my Ink, which arrived ahead of the device itself. My first order of business was connecting the Ink to wifi, which was very easy after the Ink booted up for the first time. Setting up Postbox was easy enough (done from the device rather than online) and getting it to sync to my Google Drive was super easy. I did a test document, tested the shredding function from Postbox and all was working seamlessly. I then set about installing two firmware updates and one software update (easily done if you consult the start up manual). The firmware updates you can control from the device, but the software updates seem more random. I then set about changing the lettered keys in the centre of the keyboard for the 90's themed keycaps I purchased - this was done pretty easily with the puller included with keycap kit. I may restore the original black keycaps if I get to the point where I am confidently touch typing on the new keyboard, otherwise they are definitely hard to see in anything but absolutely ideal lighting conditions.
I am now leaving it to charge overnight as the battery was only half charged upon arrival. All in all I am extremely happy with my purchase so far (FedEx & customs drama aside). For those readers keeping score at home, the initial order from Astrohaus was $865USD/ $1373 AUD, shipping to Australia was $238 USD/ $362 AUD and customs duties and taxes was approx $250 AUD after credit card surcharges. That's a total of $1985 AUD for the Freewrite Smart Typewriter 3rd Gen (Ink Special Edition) plus the felt and leather sleeve and the 2 year extended warranty. Is it worth it? Only time will tell. I would also highly recommend Justin and his team at US to Oz for the excellent and speedy service and all the help he was able to offer throughout the purchasing process.

And I've found myself in a bit of a pickle. That pickle being is over $3000 in traffic offences that I did not commit.
Here's the timeline for ya.
Mid 2020- I'd moved to a place in the Melbourne inner suburbs 6 months earlier, a 20-minute walk from work. Things were looking a bit dicey with cash money, so I decided to scrap my crusty old car to save some dosh.
I have not driven a motor vehicle of any description since. That's an important, stone hard fact.
Skip to Jan 2022- And I was applying for a new job, and my probationary licence had expired, so I got vicroads to send me my full licence. (I needed it for the whole fit4work thing they're making us do now) But before I got my little mits on it, somebody decided to nick it out of my mailbox.
It's been nothing but a living nightmare since.
Whoever did that decided to rack up thousands of dollars in fines ever since. They did it by nominating me for those fines.
-I got a letter from an insurance company claiming I was responsible for a crash in Queensland.
-I also had VicPol at my door asking if I had stolen a car and gone on a cheeky little crime spree. (Luckily, that was cleared up pretty quickly.) -I tried to report my licence stolen, but because it was never physically in my possession, I was told I couldn't. -I also didn't get that job because I could provide 100 points of ID in time.
'But young reddit user, why didn't you just reject the nomination?' I hear you ask.
Well... I may have had some boogins in my brain at the time. Covid had done it's damage and I really wasn't well. For most of 2022, I was in and out of active psychosis and didn't have a lot of support. The shadow people don't give great legal advice. By the time I got it together, it was too late to reject them.
Skipping to now, I've set up a payment plan for $50 a fortnight to keep fines victoria from breaking down my front door, but I want to know if it's worth talking to lawyer and trying to fight this. My licence expires at the end of the year. (Do you get a new licence number when it renews?)
I truly did not commit any of those offences, I'm not a violent or crimey schizo. I just get paranoid and don't leave my apartment for weeks at a time. (I'm doing better now. 🙂)
Is there any better option than continuing with the payment plan?

Life threw me a curve ball, I got to visit several medical establishments in the past few days.
ER- not a single mask to be seen. Dr, nurse, registration, NO MASKS anywhere. One lone patient in a mask, not even the EMTs for transport in masks. Lab person, NO MASK. I was bold enough to walk around and get my own ice/water refills.
Pharmacy (both late night and daytime) no masks, different locations of the same company. NO masks anywhere
target pharmacy was giving 'free samples' i took a handful- the germ potential. imagine putting a box of samples out for anyone to take- all the hands that go in there! yes they are in plastic bags but still the RISK!!
Referral to specialist- NO MASKS anywhere, not on the dr, the staff, any patients, not in the lab/OT assessment. I needed a custom brace made on site, NO MASKS at the onsite lab.
this is radical risk taking behavior. you would think the ER is filled with plague rats. the specialist is swimming in tears of unknown disease (orthopedic). this is highly risky from every facility.
NO SIGNS in any of these places for masking. Not a single question about the clot shot, coof symptoms- everything was straight to the actual reason I was there.
I'll keep you informed as I have more specialists and more medical appointments. One could conclude this is what happens when you shut down for months and years and refuse basic medical care- people dont get routine treatment and well- eventually a small problem that was being maintained becomes a fucking crisis.

I (19M) was 18 at the time of this incident.
I went into my local Hyundai Dealership in an attempt to purchase a vehicle. They had a summer sales program going on in which you could get good and solid deals on all types of vehicles on their lot.
Now the problem was I walked into the dealership with a 690 credit score after close to a year of building my credit as solidly as possible. I never missed a credit card payment, Never had any types of loans or collections against me, and never anything that would negativly affect my credit.
However, The dealership had run my credit so many times that I left that day with a credit score of 350. Now, I understand a dealership will run your credit a couple of times and send it to as many banks as possible to try and get a deal, however after my CreditKarma account had informed of the 7th or 8th hard pull, I asked the dealership to stop running my credit as I didn’t want it destroyed to badly.
The sales person completly ignored me and went about saying “We’re just changing some numbers to see if we can get you aprroved, don’t worry about your credit” and they continued to run my credit for several more times, even after I had left.
The main problem I am having now is even though I have managed to rebuild my credit score back to a 490 as I still have nothing against my credit accept a car loan and a secured credit card both of which I pay off each month, I am unable to do anything actionable when it comes to credit checks.
I barely managed to keep my job as a security systems installer, I can’t get approved for any type of credit cards, secured or unsecured, and the reason I am posting today is I am unable to get an apartment.
Because of how the dealership blatently ignored my request to stop running my credit, I am unable to even qualifty on a house with 60% down on a First Time Homeowners Loan let alone an apartment I qualift in every other aspect for.
I have the letter from the apartment that says the reason my application was denied was due to my credit score being as low as it is with too many pulls reported against it.
By my current count on CreditKarma and Experian I had my credit hard-pulled 22 differnt times in the span of the hour and half I was there attempting to purcahse a vehicle.
Their rude and condecending attitudes about my credit has made it so I can’t even get an apartment, car, or credit cards outside of what I went into with that day or the car I purchased with a 15% down payment.
Is there any action I have?
And for those who will say “Dispute them on your credit report” I have attempted too, and even with stating that they were fraudulent pulls as I had asked them to stop running my credit, all I have gotten in response is “Due to these pulls being due to an attempt to finance a vehicle, these pulls are valid and cannot be disputed”
