It is clear that the only thing that arabs consider a loss is loss of land. Loss of life’s is glorified and used as currency by the Palestinians.
It is already in the opinion of most arabs and their supporters that Israel is a colonial state, and the only day they view as loss is Naqba, and the war of 67’ both of which resulted in land loss.
The hate runs deep among the older as well as the newer generations, and re education won’t go far in a place where radical principals have traditionally been stronger than modern worldviews.
Israels best course of action to truly establish it self as middle eastern super power and keep the power on the side of the West instead of giving it up to Iran, is to settle Gaza and turn into a militarized zone, similar to West Bank.
I don’t think Israelis want this, but I also don’t think Gazens want the PLO to govern them unless forced to in designated areas inside the big cities, with Israel controlling movement throughout.
This will ensure the rockets aren’t fired, and that events like October 7th will be impossible to execute.
Let’s face it, Israel has no way to win in the popularity contest, it’s classic Jewish history, and the 1.3 Billion muslims will shut down streets world wide and protest no matter the outcome.

Date [Standardized Human Time]: March 29, 2142
Why the hell couldn’t I get rid of Gillab? I wanted him gone, he was ruining everything, and he is even technically trespassing in my house. I could easily get him removed with a simple nine-one-one call, so why couldn’t I just do it? Is there something else wrong with my head? Another problem I needed to deal with?
I wish I had some alcohol. Something to take my mind off of this. The memories were starting to come back more and more as well, last night was the worst sleep I have had in a while. The night terrors I once kept away with liquor had returned, something that scared Gillab half to death. He said that I was screaming bloody murder in my sleep, but just like every other time I’ve had a night terror, I couldn’t even remember a single detail.
But that didn’t matter now, what did was trying to give a decent first impression. I don’t know why, it’s not like I care, but I found myself wanting to look halfway presentable for the veterans’ meetup. Maybe I didn’t want others to waste their time worrying about me. Yeah, that was it. They shouldn’t need to worry about dirt like me. Still, I promised to ‘go through the motions,’ so here I was.
I didn’t really know how to describe the building, it almost looked like a warehouse. Short and wide, from the outside one would assume it was just another warehouse, but the inside had been turned into a community center. It was probably just another one of the overbuilt buildings that had been repurposed. There were tones of those around as architects and city planners would miscalculate how many of a certain type of building were needed. Many places were repurposed, this was just another.
I stopped at the door and looked over to Gillab. “This isn’t going to do anything. I’m just wasting time here.”
“No, you aren’t. Even if you don’t realize it, you are healing. Even just walking around outside of your house and eating a half-decent meal has helped, I can see that. You aren’t nearly as angry today as you were yesterday. Now go on, while you are doing this I’m going to run some errands for you. You need real food in your house.”
“Don’t bother, I don’t know how to cook.”
“Then we will learn. I don’t know how to cook Human food either. Kirala is the chef of the house.”
I thought to ask who Kirala was, but bit my tongue. I’m not supposed to care. “Whatever, I’m going in now.”
“See you soon Billy.”
I shut the door behind me and took stock of the room around me. It was a waiting area complete with inoffensive paintings and beige seats. At the opposite end of the room was a woman sitting behind a counter, typing away on a computer. Taking a deep breath, I walked up to talk to her.
“Hello, uhm, I’m here for the veterans’ group therapy session.”
“Oh course, that’ll be down that hall. Room number three, it should be on your left.”
I tried to stop bouncing my leg. “Thank you.”
I didn’t wait for a response and started down the hall, feeling a pit grow more and more in my stomach. What if this goes wrong? What if I just cause more problems? What if I ruin more people’s lives? What if I just make it worse?
I stopped in front of the door, my leg bouncing constantly. This was wrong, I shouldn’t be here. I’m unhelpable, I should just leave. Gillab said he was running errands, he wouldn’t even know that I skipped it.
The pit in my stomach began clearing as I turned away, but I couldn’t even take a single step before I stopped.
No, that’s wrong. I made a promise to Gillab, so I have to do this. Not for me, but for him. Even if I’m useless, I should still respect others.
But I could just lie, he wouldn’t know any better.
But what if he finds out?
Getting chewed out later is much easier than going through with this.
Isn’t this supposed to help though?

Because of what I’ve done. Who I've hurt. Who I have killed. The lives I have ruined trying to help them. If I was anything other than dirt, I could have saved so many more and ruined so few. Now stop stalling, and walk-
“Do you need help, sir?”
My heart plummeted and the bouncing immediately started. I turned around nervously, trying to form a single cohesive thought. A man was standing halfway in the doorway.
Don’t bother him, just say that I’m in the wrong spot.
“Uhh… N-”
My voice caught in my throat, almost causing me to cough.
“Y-yes. Is this the v-veterans’ therapy thing?”
Why did I say that?
The man stepped out of the doorway, a small smile now on his face. “Yep, this is it. You must be Billy, right? Charlotte told me that you were going to start showing up. I’m Richard, and yes, my friends call me Dick.”
Richard stuck out his hand. I stared at it for a split second before realizing I needed to shake it. As I did, I realized that it felt wrong. It was too tough to be a normal Human hand, it was almost like metal.
I looked up from the hand. “Y-you’re an amputee too?”
Richard smiled widely. “Sure am. Lost it on Sillis to an Arxur. I can see - feel - that you lost an arm as well.”
“Yeah… I’d prefer n-not to talk about it.”
Richard lost his smile, but not his courtesy. “I understand. I wasn’t able to even look at mine for a long time. Quite a few were just as unfortunate as us, a number of them come to these sessions as well. Would you like to step in? I was only going to leave to grab some refreshments.”
“S-sure. Yeah. I’ll find a seat.”
“Great, I’ll be right back.”
Richard departed for the end of the hall, leaving me standing awkwardly in front of the door. I could feel the pit begin to grow again and my leg started to bounce furiously.
Why did I say yes? Why did I say yes? Why did I say yes? Why did I say yes?
I’m in too deep now to back out, all I can do is go through the motions. It’s just motions. Just another step. One more breath. That’s all I have to do.
I stepped into the room, keeping my head lowered the entire time. There were three other people in the room, chatting idly with one another. Two Humans were chatting together, only briefly pausing to glance at me before starting right back up. The Venlil looked up from his phone and patted the seat next to himself, inviting me to sit next to him.
I sighed internally and made my way over, not wanting to set myself apart as the outcast. The Venlil watched me sit and only started talking when I was settled in. “Hi, I’m Tunek.”
I gave him a short nod, looked away, and realized I was supposed to give my own name. “I-I’m Billy.”
Tunek watched my hand for a moment, before leaning back in his chair. “So, is this your first time being at one of these?”
I nodded quickly. “Yes. I’m only here because of a friend.”
Tunek nodded. “Hey, as long as it gets you here. Just taking the first step is all it takes to start the journey. I stole that from Dick, but don’t tell him I said that.”
I nodded. “Sure.”
Tunek tilted his head in concern and moved to respond, but Richard returned just before he could speak. “Alright, I’m back with the waters and the snacks, why don’t we all grab one before we start?”
Everyone but me left their spot to grab something from the cooler that Richard brought back. The two Humans returned to their seats with some water and a cereal bar each, but Tunek hesitated when he started to return. He took a step, paused when he saw me, and turned back to grab another water and snack bar. He must have been hungry.
I looked down at myself as he walked back. Even if I was hungry, I didn’t deserve something to eat. My suffering was my punishment for what I had done and what I had failed to do. I don’t know why I’m here, I don’t deserve to get better. I’m just dirt, I should just-
“Here you go.”
I looked up to see Tunek handing me a bottle of water and a piece of fruit leather. Tentatively, I reached out and grabbed them. “How’d you know I was hungry?”
Tunek shrugged. “A hunch. It’s a little early for dinner and a bit after lunch and I figured I would be peckish around this time so you might be as well.”
I set the water bottle to the side and peeled open the fruit leather. “Thanks…”
“No problem.”
Richard took a sip of his water as I took my first bite, setting the bottle aside as he began to speak. “Alighty, now that everyone has something to keep them awake, I can start talking. As you might have noticed, we have a new member joining us today. So why don’t we all introduce ourselves? John, do you want to start with a name and a little about yourself?”
The man with short, brown-blonde hair sat up straight. “Sure, I’ll get this started. I’m John, I served the UN for four years before we made first contact, but only served for one after. I’m an only father, but I like to think that my wife is looking down from heaven trying to guide me. However, with how old Rachel is, it feels less like guiding and more strength-giving. Oh, and I hate the taste of lemons. I think that’s about it.”
The mention of lemons caused my stomach to tie itself in a knot. James always hated the taste of lemons. Just another reminder of how useless I am.
The man to the left of John smiled. “I guess it’s my turn. My name is Carter. I served the UN for three years until I was discharged for repeated disorderly conduct. I was in a bad spot for a while, but with the help of Dick here I got out of it. Well, start getting out of it. I still have some… flare-ups, but that’s why I’m here.”
Carter smiled, but it was sad. Tunek let him have his moment of silence, encouraging the veteran to be with his emotions for a moment, before starting his own introduction. “Well, I guess you already know my name, but for the sake of completion, I’ll say it again. I’m Tunek. I served the Venlil Space Force for around one Earth year before first contact, where I served with the UN until the conflict with the Yulpa on Grenelka. I… well… after that I couldn’t serve anymore. Something else… I’ve always wanted to learn how to play an instrument properly, but never had the drive to do it. That’s about it for me. Dick, since you were so kind to leave yourself for last, I think it’s your turn.”
Richard chuckled. “Yeah, I guess it is. Well, like I said earlier, my name is Richard, but don’t be afraid to call me Dick. I come from a military family and have always known the dangers of signing up, but that didn’t stop me. I didn’t realize that the war was affecting me until Milieu. Then and there I knew what needed to be done. Once the war was over, I went straight to work creating this.”
Richard paused for a moment to catch his breath. ”I knew that therapists were going to be swamped and many veterans were going to be left behind, so I took what little experience and knowledge I had with my military family and used it to help as many as I could. So now I meet with tons of veterans throughout the week to help them adjust to civilian life and overcome their internal struggles. I’m glad that you have joined us today and hope that we give a good first impression.”
I wasn’t ready for him to stop talking and scrambled to get my words out. “Y-yeah. So far everyone seems nice.”
“Well, if it’s good for you then it’s good for me. With that all out of the way, why don’t we jump right in? I’m not the type to beat around the bush. Let’s start with a simple recap of the week. How have you all been this last week? Any wins, losses, jumps, or setbacks? Remember, there’s no judgment here. We are all suffering together, but we heal together as well.”
The room was silent for a moment, everyone looking for someone else to start the chain, before Carter spoke up. “I guess I’ll go first, if you’ll let me.”
Richard sat down. “Of course Carter, whenever you are ready.”
Carter nodded and propped himself up on his elbows. “I, uh… I had another meltdown, on Wednesday. It came out of nowhere. Happened in the middle of the supermarket, I thought I was… I managed to make it home in time before it really started, but just barely. I was hardly in my room before I started bawling. I… I feel so alone sometimes. I can be in the middle of the supermarket and feel like I’ve been stranded on an island alone f-for years. I m-miss them so much. Y-you all have made it easier, but sometimes… Sometimes it’s too much.”
John placed a hand on Carter’s back and Richard offered a concerned look. “If you ever feel like that, feel free to call me.”
Carter sniffled and wiped away a forming tear. “I know, I know. You’ve told me before, and I almost did, but I thought that you wouldn’t need me bothering you in the middle of the day.”
“Carter, you know I would drop anything to come to your help. Only me dying could stop me.”
Carter leaned back in his chair and laughed even as he wiped away another tear. “Thank you, Dick, but please don’t go dying. You’re too nice for that.”
Richard smiled. “I don’t plan on it anytime soon, Carter. I still have so many more people to help.”
After a moment of silence, John took the initiative and started his own story. “I had a pretty big win this last week. I finally made it through a whole week without having suicidal thoughts.”
Richard smiled widely. “That's wonderful! I told you that you were making progress.”
“I know, but sometimes I feel like I have no purpose anymore. It’s overwhelming. My daughter is old enough to care for herself, I’m only working a menial labor job, I can’t find any hobbies to enjoy… I feel like nothing.”
“But you aren’t ‘nothing,’ you are you. And there is only one of you. I can’t go out and find another John, or another Carter, or Tunek, or Billy. You are all unique, and losing you would be a tragedy.”
Before I could stop myself, I spoke. “Am I really worth saving?”
Everyone went silent for a moment, caught off guard by my words. After Richard deciphered the sudden question, he gave a response with absolute certainty. “Absolutely. There is nothing in this world that can’t be forgiven or overcome.”
“Are you sure? After the things I’ve done… forget I said anything.”
Richard shook his head. “I can’t do that, Billy. I can’t willingly ignore someone in need.”
“I don’t need help. I’m getting exactly what I deserve for what I have done.”
“And what have you done?”
“I… I don’t want to talk about it.”
Richard sighed. “That’s okay, for now. Eventually, you will have to come to terms with it, but for now, you can just listen if you want to.”
“Yeah. I think I’m just going to listen.”
I leaned back and crossed my arms, letting Tunek speak his mind. “I think I know what you are going through. Not the specifics, but I think I can get a general idea.”
“No, I don’t think you do.”
Tunek was silent for a moment, before looking away from me and speaking. “I was on the Cradle when it fell, and on Sillis when the Arxur raided it, and on Milieu fighting off the Kolshians. I tried to save as many people as I could, but in the end, I could only make their passing less painful. I couldn’t even save my partner. I froze in the moment. I could have saved him. But I was frozen in fear. His death is entirely on my shoulders. I’m still fighting that to this day.”
I stared at Tunek for a second, before turning away and sighing. They didn’t know what I was going through, no one could. They didn’t know my crimes, if they did they would kick me out. Their problems, no matter how real, were nothing compared to mine. They still could be helped, I couldn’t.
Could I? If all these people could heal, why couldn’t I?
Because my crimes are too severe.

Then and there I knew what needed to be done. Once the war was over, I went straight to work creating this.”
Richard paused for a moment to catch his breath. ”I knew that therapists were going to be swamped and many veterans were going to be left behind, so I took what little experience and knowledge I had with my military family and used it to help as many as I could. So now I meet with tons of veterans throughout the week to help them adjust to civilian life and overcome their internal struggles. I’m glad that you have joined us today and hope that we give a good first impression.”
I wasn’t ready for him to stop talking and scrambled to get my words out. “Y-yeah. So far everyone seems nice.”
“Well, if it’s good for you then it’s good for me. With that all out of the way, why don’t we jump right in? I’m not the type to beat around the bush. Let’s start with a simple recap of the week. How have you all been this last week? Any wins, losses, jumps, or setbacks? Remember, there’s no judgment here. We are all suffering together, but we heal together as well.”
The room was silent for a moment, everyone looking for someone else to start the chain, before Carter spoke up. “I guess I’ll go first, if you’ll let me.”
Richard sat down. “Of course Carter, whenever you are ready.”
Carter nodded and propped himself up on his elbows. “I, uh… I had another meltdown, on Wednesday. It came out of nowhere. Happened in the middle of the supermarket, I thought I was… I managed to make it home in time before it really started, but just barely. I was hardly in my room before I started bawling. I… I feel so alone sometimes. I can be in the middle of the supermarket and feel like I’ve been stranded on an island alone f-for years. I m-miss them so much. Y-you all have made it easier, but sometimes… Sometimes it’s too much.”
John placed a hand on Carter’s back and Richard offered a concerned look. “If you ever feel like that, feel free to call me.”
Carter sniffled and wiped away a forming tear. “I know, I know. You’ve told me before, and I almost did, but I thought that you wouldn’t need me bothering you in the middle of the day.”
“Carter, you know I would drop anything to come to your help. Only me dying could stop me.”
Carter leaned back in his chair and laughed even as he wiped away another tear. “Thank you, Dick, but please don’t go dying. You’re too nice for that.”
Richard smiled. “I don’t plan on it anytime soon, Carter. I still have so many more people to help.”
After a moment of silence, John took the initiative and started his own story. “I had a pretty big win this last week. I finally made it through a whole week without having suicidal thoughts.”
Richard smiled widely. “That's wonderful! I told you that you were making progress.”
“I know, but sometimes I feel like I have no purpose anymore. It’s overwhelming. My daughter is old enough to care for herself, I’m only working a menial labor job, I can’t find any hobbies to enjoy… I feel like nothing.”
“But you aren’t ‘nothing,’ you are you. And there is only one of you. I can’t go out and find another John, or another Carter, or Tunek, or Billy. You are all unique, and losing you would be a tragedy.”
Before I could stop myself, I spoke. “Am I really worth saving?”
Everyone went silent for a moment, caught off guard by my words. After Richard deciphered the sudden question, he gave a response with absolute certainty. “Absolutely. There is nothing in this world that can’t be forgiven or overcome.”
“Are you sure? After the things I’ve done… forget I said anything.”
Richard shook his head. “I can’t do that, Billy. I can’t willingly ignore someone in need.”
“I don’t need help. I’m getting exactly what I deserve for what I have done.”
“And what have you done?”
“I… I don’t want to talk about it.”
Richard sighed. “That’s okay, for now. Eventually, you will have to come to terms with it, but for now, you can just listen if you want to.”

I leaned back and crossed my arms, letting Tunek speak his mind. “I think I know what you are going through. Not the specifics, but I think I can get a general idea.”
“No, I don’t think you do.”
Tunek was silent for a moment, before looking away from me and speaking. “I was on the Cradle when it fell, and on Sillis when the Arxur raided it, and on Milieu fighting off the Kolshians. I tried to save as many people as I could, but in the end, I could only make their passing less painful. I couldn’t even save my partner. I froze in the moment. I could have saved him. But I was frozen in fear. His death is entirely on my shoulders. I’m still fighting that to this day.”
I stared at Tunek for a second, before turning away and sighing. They didn’t know what I was going through, no one could. They didn’t know my crimes, if they did they would kick me out. Their problems, no matter how real, were nothing compared to mine. They still could be helped, I couldn’t.

This is my first ever post on Reddit so I’m a novice when it comes to what information to include and structuring so please bear with me. I included a TL;DR at the bottom for those who may want a quick summary.
I want to first apologize for my lack of knowledge on what to do in my circumstances. I also want to apologize for making it seem like my situation is the end of the world because I know there are people who are so much more hardworking and in even harder situations. However, I would appreciate any recommendations from those who end up reading my post.
The main reason I’m making this post is because I’m struggling to sleep and study for my MCAT since I worry that I’m wasting my time.
I’m about to enter my 4th year of undergrad doing health science at UWO and have a cGPA of 3.94 (although I took mostly 2nd-year courses in 3rd year to meet the prereqs for my degree). I only recently realized how much I've been half-assing my pursuit of medicine because it is an arduous journey and an opportunity that people dream about. Due to some personal events that occurred in my life, I wanted to work harder towards this path but I feel like I have no ECs that can reflect that. I am an exec in 2 clubs (nothing "pre-med" or "impactful" on others but clubs that I am passionate about and enjoy) and joined my school’s paddling and orientation team this year. I have 0 research or volunteering (besides in high school) hours under me. The only real "work" experience I have is that I've helped out my relatives with their businesses for the last 2 summers (one in Canada and one in the US). I have read a lot of people say “It’s how you frame your ABS and essays” but I feel like I have nothing to talk about. This situation is 100% my fault and I feel so stupid and remorseful for wasting 3 years of undergrad because I was so ingenuous and lost sight of my goals in life.
I’ve been talking with other premed/med friends who have suggested that I use 4th year to continue my current ECs and to start on both research (only continue if I like it) and volunteering then take a gap year to improve in both these sections. I understand that I should only do something if I enjoy it and not actively “check off” a box but I feel like no matter what I do now, I am filling out a checklist. I apologize if it seems like I don't care about medicine or the hardships that doctors face because of my lack of experience and my naive thinking up until this point.
My biggest issue is that throughout the last 2 weeks, I’ve read about so many amazing people on this subreddit as well as my friends get rejected that my self-confidence has diminished. I had to tell my parents about my situation and that I stood no chance of getting in next year which was heartbreaking. Everyone around me seems to have done so much more and I feel so fraudulent saying "I want to pursue medicine". I feel so lost right now but I’m so grateful and appreciative for my friends who are helping me through my quarter-life crisis and constantly offering me advice but I think I need an objective point of view (and also because I feel like I’m annoying them).
Here are a few questions that I would like some opinions on:

I’m also into movies and tv, some sports, pro wrestling. Collecting action figures and retro games is one of hobbies as well. I miss the good old days where we went to arcades and italian sunday dinners at the grandparents and where the world just wasn’t as nutso as it is today lol.
My kids are everything to me and I do love talking about them. Love being silly with them and spending time with them (when they aren’t driving me crazy 🤪 lol)..I would prefer you be around my age and have kids as well just so we have that stuff in common off the bat! I’m socially awkward most times but very easy to get along with. I’m definitely considered an introvert. But once you get to know me I break out of that awkward shell.  | Hello AC fans, this is ImmortalThundergod79 back with another historical analysis for Assassin’s Creed Shadows where I will analyze the history, culture, great battles, weapons and tactics of Japanese history and the game’s portrayal of them. submitted by ImmortalThunderGod79 to assassinscreed [link] [comments] Today I will be analyzing the most famous great unifier of the Sengoku Jidai himself - Oda Nobunaga. So without further ado let's do a brief rundown of who he is and what makes me cautiously excited to see how he is portrayed in AC Shadows. He endured through many hardships and seen as a failure since his childhood For most of Nobunaga's childhood and youth. He experienced a great deal of hardships as he was once perceived to be a “failure” in the eyes of many of his Oda clan members and peers around due to his eccentric and aloof behavior such as taking a liking to wearing women’s clothing, rebellious attitude to regularly playing games with children regardless of their social classes. Complete opposite of his younger brother - Oda Nobuyuki who was described to be much more dignified whom most of the Oda clan members and peers at the time favored more in being the head ruler of the Oda clan. His relationships with both of his parents are often strained and being considered a “problem child”. His relationship with his father had gotten so bad that it was said when his father had died suddenly, Nobunaga had shown up at his father’s funeral being inappropriately dressed as he threw his ashes across the floor. Leading to one of his mentor figures to commit seppuku. This led him to be named the “Fool of Owari”, being deemed an “embarrassment” to the family name and considered “stupid”. Yet in spite of all this we would continue persevering and proven himself worthy as the leader of the Oda clan at the Battle of Okehazama despite being heavily outnumbered by the forces of Imagawa Yoshimoto. He was known to be cunning, pragmatic and ruthless, but kind, fair, polite and even surprisingly forgiving Nobunaga’s reputation as a cunning and brutal daimyo often stem from his ruthless exploits such as the assassination of his younger brother - Nobuyuki and violent campaigns against the Ikko-Ikki faction like the Sieges of Nagashima Castle and Mt Hiei](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Mount_Hiei). While it’s true that he was far from a saint, that goes for just about every other daimyo lord of his time and some of these were completely missing context and overlooking some of the nuances which some people had taken to face value, implying as if Nobunaga was carrying out these acts of violence indiscriminately. For example him assassinating his own younger brother. He DID NOT just kill him out of cruelty to “secure his position of power”, those that said that often overlook the fact that Nobuyuki tried to rebel against Nobunaga and attempted to kill him twice in order to take his position as leader of the Oda clan all of which Nobunaga forgave him on until his patience and trust were tested. What DID YOU think was gonna happen? In addition there is a misunderstanding that Nobunaga was “slaughtering ‘peaceful’ monks at Nagashima and Mt Hiei” as well as other misconceptions surrounding such events. Take Mt Hiei for instance. We were once told in that event, massive amounts of temples were burned down and had a death toll of 20,000 casualties at the Siege of Mt Hiei, but recent proper evaluation academic scholars have found these were widely exaggerated because most of the temples were remained in good condition and in the actual primary source, the number of casualties was much smaller which was between 1,500 - 4,000 especially thanks to the lack of mass graves further proof that the 20,000 death toll was widely blown out of proportion. Second in these events these “peaceful” monks were farrrr from peaceful as these were Sohei monks specifically who hold military power as some were either former samurai or were samurai who became monks, but didn’t give up their power. They were especially part of the Ikko-Ikki which was a fanatical separatist militia consisting of peasants, merchants, priests, commoners and jizamurai (country samurai) that rose up against the upper class daimyos, shoguns and samurais having grown restless from all the constant fighting and civil wars between them, hoping of succeeding and creating their own independent state and government similar to the South in the American Civil War (might not be the best analogy, but closest I can think of for you to get an idea). These peasant militia often violently attacked any daimyo and samurai on sight even if the two were of no threat to them, making it especially dangerous foreign travelers of the time. The Ikko-Ikki even attacked other states in Japan that they consider to be a “threat” which made them extremely problematic to many daimyo, samurai and imperial government across the country and in addition these same extremist groups callously took the lives of Nobunaga’s two half brothers, one cousin and one nephew leading him to hold a grudge against them which is why. So was he justified in what he did to the Ikko-Ikki? Depends on who you ask, but if these groups of fanatics were the ones who basically killed half of your beloved family members whom you trusted, can you really blame Nobunaga for feeling that way towards the Ikko-Ikki? What is most surprising however is that despite Nobunaga’s merciless reputation as a warlord. There are also documented accounts written down about his kindness, understanding and forgiving nature. He was said to address all of his followers from the highest retainers to lowest servants with respect and courtesy. Has even gone as far as to donate money and goods to the villagers, imperial court and temples/churches to help improve the lives and stability of the peasants, commoners, nobles and priests (both Japanese and European). Along with that, he was known to be quite forgiving towards others even if they had made a mistake or were being treacherous such as when Nobuyuki attempted to rebel against and kill him twice or the fact that his long time retainer - Shibata Katsuie once sided with his brother in plotting to assassinate him yet despite discovering what he planned to do originally, Nobunaga instead pardoned Katsuie and chose to spare him if he swore allegiance to him instead which Katsuie would accept. All this paints us a nuanced picture of whom Nobunaga was a person and character. A warlord who is as brutal as he is honorable which is so fascinating to study about. He was open-minded and loved learning of new things Of course we can’t talk about Oda Nobunaga without his deep fascination for Western culture and love for learning new things. Nobunaga was highly known for appreciating European cultures, clothing, technology and goods. He was a learner and always hungry for knowledge and because of this would lead to him coming across the matchlock firearms introduced to him by the Portuguese which he liked so much that he began to order them to be mass produced, seeing just how useful and effective which they would become staple weapons of his samurai army which allowed him to rise to power. His interest and desires of learning the ins and outs of cultures from across the world outside of Japan is especially evident in his close friendships with the likes of Luis Frois - the Portuguese missionary and Yasuke - the African servant of the Jesuit missionaries. The circumstances surrounding his death continues to remain as one of the biggest mysteries in Japanese history There continues to be many mysteries surrounding Nobunaga’s untimely death and why one of his retainers - Akechi Mitsuhide had betrayed him as many theories had often surfaced throughout the years and no scholars were able to definitively figure out what exactly was Mitsuhide whole motive for backstabbing Nobunaga just when he was so close to unifying the whole country. Some said Mitsuhide had a personal grudge against Nobunaga, others said he did it to gain more power and influence. Some have even said he may have been manipulated by an outside party into carrying out the treacherous act (such as Toyotomi Hideoyoshi, Tokugawa Ieyasu and a few others who had been suspected). Why I look forward to Assassin’s Creed’s take on the iconic Japanese historical figure As you can see, all that I have written here. Oda Nobunaga is quite a rich character and figure to study about it. There is so much nuance and dimensions of his character. Assassin’s Creed at its best is more than capable of being able to find the right balance between doing a creative spin on iconic historical figures throughout history, but still preserving elements of historical accuracy on what made these figures what they are. Nobunaga as we know is a cunning, pragmatic and ruthless warlord, but he was a charismatic, kind and fair leader altogether. Was he perfect? No, but he is human and flawed as we are. Just a man doing his best to unify a country that was torn apart by decades of civil war and to survive a tumultuous period in Japanese history where friends and allies can betray you and become your foes in one night. so I am very curious to see how Assassin’s Creed Shadows will present all that aspects of him into the game as they done for many other historical figures they done before. If done right and written well, AC's portrayal of Nobunaga becoming just as beloved as the likes of AC’s takes on Leonardo Da Vinci, George Washington and Blackbeard.
