2024.04.25 18:03 Danielle_Blume PSA: Next Gen Update Info

Updated 5/17/24

Let us see if Bugthesda can fix some of this mess or manage to make it worse. Hold onto your towel and don't panic. We will get thru this radstorm together. šŸ‘
----------ā€----------------------------------
Be aware the search function on xbox is extremely broken right now, half of the mods we use wont search. There has been some luck finding common mods by going to their section and using the most popular "weekly monthly all time" filters to trigger them showing in that area so you can try to download them. You can also go to Bethesda.net and login. All of your favorites, and a list of any mod you ever downloaded are there to reference. Simply remove then re-add a mod to your favorites and library to have it appear on your xbox dashboard favorites.
Be aware, just like in Skyrim, digital game owners and game pass users who do not directly own Fallout 4 on disc can no longer play offline with mods; going offline and booting the game will disable all of your mods. You must own the GOTY disc to be offline and your mods be enabled.
I will continue to update this post as more information is reported to me.
NOTE ON UPDATING:
If you update, be sure to click the manage games and addons and update and reinstall all of your DLC as well. Restart then check the manage game and addons once more prior to booting up Fo4 to see additional DLC updates that dont trigger until the first set is installed. This could be a vital difference between your mod list existing or not.

Operation Cannot be Completed When Tring to Download A Mod:

THANK YOU TO u/-FiveAclock- FOR THIS AMAZING WORKAROUND
Itā€™s not the mods being broken that make the ā€œcould not completeā€ (yes so many mods are still broken in game) but the mod menu is a issue with the thumbnails causing the menu to crash.
For me it usually glitches out when I scroll through my load order menu in the mods menu too quickly and the thumbnails stop showing up, and when I go back to the mods menu and scroll down all the mods thumbnails show up as a grey squareā€™s instead of the picture, (thatā€™s what you want) from there you should be able to click and download said mod, but usually Iā€™ll only get little over 60sec or so before the mod menu crashes to main menu.
You may have to exit to the main menu and reload the mod menu/load order a few times to get it to glitch but what youā€™re looking for is the mod menu thumbnails to be grey squares instead of the thumbnail pictures.
I found this by accident, then pretty consistently recreated it to download 5 ā€œcouldnā€™t completeā€ mods

Mod Menu Greyed Out Or Cannot Access Mod Section At All:

Thank you u/TheGoktor
For anyone still unable to access the greyed-out mod menu, here's what to do:
1) Go to https://account.xbox.com/en-us/Settings?rtc=1&activetab=main%3aprivacytab
(you'll probably be prompted to sign into your account, and jump through a couple of hoops to be able to access it).
2) Click on 'Privacy & online safety' in the left-hand sidebar.
3) Scroll down to the section that says, "You can see and upload community creations", and check the box for 'EVERYONE'.
4) Boot up Fallout 4 on your Xbox, and 'MODS' should now be accessible.
5) Re-download and enable all your mods.
Depending how many you're downloading, this may be a tedious and time-consuming process because you will notice that your favorites and download lists are randomly incomplete!
If after the above it is still greyed out, try checking in your Privacy & online safety settings, update the "You can see and upload community creations" setting to "Everyone". For whatever reason this has been turning itself off for some users post-update, which disables mods menu.
If you STILL cant access mods, make a new acct on your xbox and download mods via the new account. For whatever reason this works 100%. Mods are console shared across accounts so after downloading and arranging, simply log in to your main account to start a game with those mods.
You may also find you get a message to say "The action could not be completed", when trying to download a mod. You can either try to download it again, or quit FO4, do a hard restart of the console, then start the game, and try again.

Stutter Solutions, Known Working Mods & Bad Mods:

See this recent update on stutter.
Thank you doctor_schmoctor
Set your Xbox to these settings if on XSS or XSX to help remove the stutter:
turning off the 4K options in the xbox settings, and instead switching to 1440p and 120hz, while enabling 60 fps and quality mode in game, had the best results.
OFFICIAL cause of stutter
As we ultimately suspected, UF4OP was causing stutter, as well as all mods touching NPCs, as we also had already figured out. This confirms our community findings officially, and all players are recommended to avoid any and all mods that touch NPC records, including UF4OP, until Bethesda fixes the major bug causing this issue. If they don't fix this, then Bethesda has cut us off from a very wide selection of beloved mods.
By u/arckepplin :
Thanks to u/Normal-Most279 , I think I have resolved most if not all of my stuttering. Apparently, there is an issue with something Bethesda did behind the scenes in this update, that results in massive stuttering when using mods that affect NPCs in certain ways.
What those specifics are, I'm not certain, but it seems almost without a doubt anything changing their faces is a particular concern. I spent today testing a new save with ALL my mods that affect NPCs disabled (no matter how seemingly insignificant). That character was able to run around freely without stuttering. Then I enabled them one by one, testing to see if they caused stuttering.
Mods that I am able to run without any issue so far (until I go further in a playthrough, the jury's still out):
Mods that I cannot run without immediate repeatable stuttering:
I realize that LOs can vary wildly and these specific mods won't apply to everyone, but I hope it will at least give others a solid starting point for where to start looking.
And just a disclaimer here: I don't want anyone misinterpreting me and thinking I'm saying these mods are bad. In fact they are great mods that I'm disappointed I can't continue using for right now. I'm just saying that whatever changes Bethesda made directly affected them and caused them to be unable to work properly with the current version of the game.
ā€-----ā€-------------ā€-------
In addition to this avoid "fix mods", most are causing the problem they used to fix. This includes UF4OP.
We are getting reports not updated mods affecting game settings like godrays and lighting are not working as intended. This includes the beloved Nytras and any other mod entirely disabling godrays. GFXWL w/o Color Saturation is a good replacement and appears to be working currently, pair it with Reduced grass density medium for a complete replacement for Nytra's aio. It also replaces the need for "No more silver puddles" mod.
We can confirm most weather mods are working fine, including Calamity Weathers. True Storms is oddly performing great post update, as well as 76 weathers.
Also note many are reducing the stutter by using 512 shadows and some sort of aio texture pack replacer like u/St0vie vivid aio or u/mateusmr new 512 textures aio

Known Broken Mods:

Thank you u/munnwort
Broken = The mod can be installed but no longer works as intended/now causes new glitches/crashing.
"Project Megaton" - drmabuse1981
"Dead Sun Weather" - LunchboxGaming
"Hardcore Health Overhaul" - DreadedJake
"DEF_UI Core" - Neanka (and other mods that depend on it of course)
"TreyM's Film Looks - CFL Apocalypse (Requires LUT Framework)" - Trey-M
"The Pure"

Please post any mods you can confirm are broken, cause issues or that do work here so we can keep updating this list.

2024.04.16 17:42 JustAnotherGossipper What email service without giving phone number or other email address?

I am looking for recommendations of free email services where I can sign up for an email account without providing a phone number, or recovery email address, to create an email account that is not connected to any of my other contact information.
I do NOT need a recovery option for lost password and I do NOT want two factor validation. However, I would like a webmail interface to see my emails and want this to be more than a disposable email service that keeps incoming email for only a few minutes.
It is OK if storage space is limited or if I have to login occassionally to keep the account from being deleted for inactivity.
(mail.com used to fill this bill until they started requiring a phone number to sign up for an account.)
Thanks

2024.04.01 22:14 Yahoo-CustomerCare Frontier Migration Completed

The Frontier Migration is Complete!
Hello everyone, we'd again like to extend a special welcome to Frontier users whose emails have now finished migrating to Yahoo! We've appreciated your patience as we've worked diligently to onboard everyone.
We want to take a moment to share some additional information and address some common questions that we have seen over the last few days.
1) The migration of Frontier emails is now complete. Users should no longer log into their email at Frontier, and instead should now visit mail.yahoo.com, or login.yahoo.com
a) No further wait to access your account at Yahoo is expected or anticipated. Any issues encountered are not migration-completion delays, and should be treated as unique issues to be troubleshot on an individual account basis.
b) We've found that forgotten/invalid password issues are the most common concerns we've seen.
2) Frontier users should now be able to log into Yahoo Webmail at mail.yahoo.com with their pre-existing Frontier password. If you are receiving an Uh-Oh error when signing in, it's likely your password is incorrect, and there are no recovery options associated with your account to help reset your password online. Otherwise, you would be displayed these recovery options to help reset your password and regain access.
a) In this scenario, it is necessary to contact Yahoo Customer Care to attempt verification of account ownership, and then have an agent manually reset your password for you. If verification fails, we may not be able to assist as we must prioritize the security of accounts and user information, over ease of passing the verification process.
b) Calling multiple times in a short-span of time will not improve verification potential. (It may in fact hinder it.) That said, we are working on new ways to verify accounts presently; so if you're unable to verify today, we would suggest calling us back at a future time.
c) While Yahoo Customer Care is typically a paid premium service due to the free nature of our email accounts, we are currently supporting Frontier users for free during this transition window.
d) Please bear in mind, verification may or may not be successful depending on many factors, including any information associated with your account that may or may not have been passed to Yahoo. That said, we'll do our very best to provide all possible options to ensure accounts remain secure, and as many legitimate users as possible can regain access.
3) Verification is not required for all assistance. For example, if you need general guidance, (something outside of giving out sensitive account information or making changes to an account), our support team will be happy to lend a helping hand or word of advice to point you in the right direction.
4) We understand wait times have been a bit longer in the call center than we prefer with the volume of contacts we've received, and we thank you for your patience as our support team works to assist everyone we can.
5) We've been asked if ID-verification is a legitimate means of verification. We're proud to say that yes, it is! We launched this option in 2022 to help provide an additional avenue for our callers to potentially verify their accounts. More information is available here: https://help.yahoo.com/.../verification-privacy-policies...
6) App-passwords are not needed to establish or update your email within a third-party email client. Your pre-existing Frontier password should still be sufficient, so the only updates necessary are modifying IMAP/POP server settings to the Yahoo values below: (If these do not work, try to log into mail.yahoo.com to see if a password issue is the root cause.)
IMAP: https://help.yahoo.com/.../imap-server-settings-yahoo...
POP: https://help.yahoo.com/.../pop-access-settings...
Special note for Legacy Frontier users (Uncommon):
When logging into Yahoo for the first time, you may be asked for a verification code which will verify your ownership of your Frontier account. You can get this code by logging into your account at Frontier, collecting the code, and entering it in the Yahoo flow. You will then be asked to change your password, and this will complete your migration. You may use Yahoo webmail, apps, or a third party client of your choice thereafter.
Again, we understand that any time of change can be frustrating, but we'd like to extend our warmest welcome and appreciation for you once more. We hope you'll enjoy Yahoo products and services. If you need help, please explore available help options by reaching out to us at Help.Yahoo.com

2024.03.26 20:15 lindenb Tech Tip for Mac Users

As many of us are going through a transition to Yahoo as our email provider I want to offer some tips on what is needed to make Yahoo email work with the native Mail app on Mac. I spent 3 hours yesterday on this and found that very few Yahoo CSR's know anything at all about the Apple OS. So in the interest of saving others from that frustration, here is what I learned.
First a caveat--the transition for iphone is straightforward and Yahoo has tips as does Cox on their web site about the transition for iOS. Just add a new email account in settings as you normally would selecting the type as Yahoo. It is simple, easy and requires you do nothing except have your username and the new yahoo password you created--should work out of the box but consult the Cox notes which does have guidance for iPhone and Android mobile users (although they try to guide you into using the Yahoo app and the Yahoo web mail). I didn't want another app--I wanted to use the Apple supplied native app on my Mac so I tried --it did not work the same way and this is what I found.
These instructions are exclusively for Mail on the Mac OS.
  1. Do not, and I mean this strenuously, do not simply add a new account by selecting Yahoo as the email type. Instead, open system preferences--Internet Accounts and select the generic Mail Account. When presented with the dialog box, deselect 'automatic' so that you can manually enter the imap and smtp information. Yahoo's help page on their web site has a section devoted to the correct info. https://help.yahoo.com/kb/imap-server-settings-yahoo-mail-sln4075.html
  2. I have re-creacted the info here:
  3. Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server Server - imap.mail.yahoo.com Port - 993 Requires SSL - Yes Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server Server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com Port - 465 or 587 Requires SSL - Yes Requires authentication - Yes Your login info Email address - Your full email address (name@domain.com) Password - Generate App Password Requires authentication - Yes
  4. When it comes to the password, do not use the password you created for Yahoo email--that is fine to use on the phone but not here. Instead you must go up to the Yahoo web site--login with your new Yahoo password. Then select your account and you'll be prompted to login again (I know--you did that already to get into your webmail but that is how they do it), and then navigate to security just below the header, select that. Scroll down and on the right hand side you'll see an option to Generate an App Password. Select that and you'll be given the option to create and copy a unique password--and that is the password you want to paste into the password field on your mac. Double check that the smtp and imap accounts are the correct Yahoo (and not cox) accounts. Save it and you should be good to go--unless of course you need to finesse the port selection for outgoing email. Good idea to send and receive a test email to another account to be sure everything is working as it should.
  5. Cox --to my knowledge does not show these instructions anywhere in their notes, and in my experience many Yahoo CSR's don't know this either--they'll waste a lot of your time and won't solve the issue--so be warned. The Yahoo folks are very nice but it does not seem as if they were alerted to the idea that Mac users might be calling in with questions.
I hope this helps members of this community who are mac users. I do not believe Unix or Win users have to do this --I just wanted to get mai working again so did not take the time to explore further so if you are one just ignore this post. Cheers.

2024.03.05 10:32 heppuplays My mom is like the most infuriating person and it's just driving me insane.

First of all, she is SUPER OBSESSIVE about my school life, WAY more than a normal person would be. She refuses to understand that I as a 19-year-old, I do not constantly need help for everything I do. When I do ask for help, I ask for help with the SPECIFIC THINGS I need help with, and it is not an open invitation for her to basically become my manager and start dictating how much, how, or when I do my school work. Then when i Call her out that that's not what i want her to don't need help with literally everything in the assignment, She stars playing the victim, saying things like how I don't appreciate her help. Of course, I do appreciate it, I just don't appreciate that instead of helping me with the ONE or few things I asked for, she tries to take over.
Once I moved away for school, she threatened to stop helping me pay for food (I don't have much money left per month after rent, bills, etc., I barely scrape by every month) because I was sick and she was "worried" about how I would make up for lost time for taking ONE DAY OFF. She demanded that I call the school and reschedule my lesson so I wouldn't miss the class.
Secondly, she refuses to take responsibility for ANYTHING. She refuses to take a look in the mirror and admit when she is wrong. Every time someone in my family, whether it's me or my siblings, calls her out for being a HUGE hypocrite and clearly in the wrong, she just runs away, gets in the car, and leaves. Later she calls us the ones in the wrong and accuses us of having a rebellious episode (whatever that means) and claims that we don't appreciate everything she's done for us and that WE need to apologize to her. It's like she is one of those people who just believes the world revolves around her and that she can't be criticized in any way, just because "she gets results in the end and has helped us."
She also once threatened to take my cat (who is pretty much my only friend here because I have REALLY bad social anxiety and now live in another city) because she has the cat's official papers and thus legally owns it, ALL BECAUSE I don't give her regular daily updates on whether I've emptied the cat's litter box.
Sometimes she JUST REFUSES to remember anything we tell her, especially when it comes to me, since I'm the one who mostly calls her out. Just a couple of days ago, I snapped at her a bit because she just REFUSES to remember my email address, which really sucks because it was in regards to my therapy. LITERALLY everyone who I've ever given my email to remembers it, yet my mom is the only one who just refuses to remember or write it down. I have told her MULTIPLE TIMES what it is, yet for some reason, she just refuses to use it and gives out some RANDOM email my parents made for me WHEN I WAS A BABY on some OLD ASS webmail service that they are big fans of, THAT I DON'T USE and don't know the login info to.
It's just impossible to get ANYTHING through to her because she believes that EVERYTHING centers around her, like SHE is the boss and everything should be done the way SHE wants. The amount of times my dad, my siblings, or I have just kept repeating "NO, THAT IS NOT HOW THIS WORKS. YOU ARE WRONG. THERE ARE EASIER WAYS TO DO THIS." And she just refuses to consider a second opinion. She comes up with an idea and she just keeps pushing it until it gets results. In reality, I'm mostly guessing she's just being a Karen and refusing to let go until the poor person on the other side of the line caves in just to get off the phone with her.
She's been like this ALL my life, and sometimes I just don't know how to deal with that. The stress of dealing with her really takes a toll on my already bad mental health. I know this kinda turned into a rant, and I'm not really looking for solutions or anything, but I just REALLY needed to get this out somewhere

I am facing this issue that I have created my webmail in hostinger but when trying to login it says couldn't find your account. I saw alot of tutorial for this in internet but all showing the same exact results to send and receive mail by adding and importing the mail which not suitable for me because i wanted to login in multiple devices and i can't do this steps all over again in each device. Like we get separate company mail with company name on it instead of gmail.com just like that I wanted to login my company mail.

2024.02.26 21:12 AkaneR66 Dad died in 2022. Since 2023, things he selfhosted have slowly begun breaking. How can I keep them going?

Throwaway for privacy reasons. As I said, things he maintained have been going down since at least mid-2023. His death was very sudden, so we didn't exactly have things set up for others to take over. Before anyone asks, I don't think he posted here. I don't see any of his usual handles, and he'd been running these things longer than Reddit has existed.
The main thing I'm hoping to recover is the webmail (I think) service most of my family used. That went down in September, and we've lost access to a number of other accounts because of that. There's also a Plex server and a handful of websites he hosted that would be good to get up and running.
I'm computer literate, but not tech-savvy enough to even really know where to start. I'm sorry if this is basic or not much to go off of, but I'm kind of overwhelmed. I just need some starting steps. Here's what little I do know:
What I don't know:
It's entirely possible that successfully logging in will be enough to get things running, but I haven't been able to test that far. The servers are physically located across town, and getting there without a car is kind of a multi-hour process. Dad was able to use remote logins for most issues, but I don't know how to do that.
Even if that did work, though, I'll need to know some basic troubleshooting steps if I want to keep them running long term, even if it's only in maintenance mode. Again, I'm sorry if this seems basic or unhelpful, I am just really out of my element here.
Edit: Hello! Thank you all for the comments and messages, I am slowly picking through everything. I figured I should add some more info based on whatā€™s been mentioned.
I havenā€™t been able to check the hardware as of the evening after posting the thread due to a small miscommunication with the building owner, but we know the storage for the Plex server, at least, is on a Synology. Everything else, who knows. Iā€™ll hopefully know more tomorrow afternoon.
Several people have urged me to clone or backup everything before I mess around. I agree! Thatā€™s a very good idea. How do I do that? I think we do have actually have a drive cloner, but itā€™s for one drive at a time and I think exclusively SSDs, which Iā€™m not 100% sure the setup is using. Plus, Iā€™m not sure I want to be removing drives before knowing the state of everything.
Lastly, it genuinely didnā€™t occur to me that people would offer to help locally. I donā€™t want to publicly give the specific city, but if any of you are or know someone in the Colorado Front Range, feel free to message me.
Thank you all for the comments. Iā€™ll try and keep this post updated.

2024.02.12 15:09 Collosalreality MFA / 2FA security vulnerability

I'm worried about a vulnerability I've noticed with office365's MFA. I have had users who have forgotten their office365 password and do not have their authenticator app. I check if they are logged in on their webmail and if they are, I do the following procedure:
  1. go to their initials in the top right > my account > security info > add a new authenticator
  2. Once I add a new authenticator, they can reset their password using the authenticator
My worry is that if their computer gets hacked, they login on an unsecure device such as a home PC (and it's compromised), or a bad actor on premises gains temporary access to their PC when they walk away - They can add an additional authenticator with little effort, then reset the password.
Is there a way to combat this? Such as "require MFA to add additional MFA methods".
What are your thoughts? Thank you.

2024.02.07 17:27 SmoothSailing1111 Confused on Conditional Access licensing

I'm in the process of migrating from my onprem 2016 server to M365. Plan to keep AD onprem and sync to Entra for now.
Majority of my 200 mailboxes will be 365 Business Standard licenses. Some will be Business Basic (webmail only).
I need my hourly employees with email to only be able to login within our 4 walls (public IP addresses) and not use MFA. They don't have company phones.
I need my salaried employees to access their email remotely (Outlook/Web) but require MFA.
What licensing do I need? Entra AD P1 for all 200 users (yikes)? I was under the impression 365 Business Standard came with Conditional Access? Are all Conditional Access rules done on the Entra admin portal? If 365 Business Standard comes with it, then do I just need 1 AD P1 license for my Global Admin account?
Hope this is clear, as I'm still new to this 365 stuff. Still learning how it works and the lingo.
Thanx!

2024.01.31 17:44 SoccerFox586 CAC on Ubuntu

Please help, I want to make the full switch to Linux Ubuntu but the biggest thing preventing me is being able to use my CAC to login to .mil sites and MS Outlook webmail. I can run commands in terminal just fine I just donā€™t have enough technical knowledge yet to figure out all of the applications/programs I need to get it to work, I have tried reading the information provided on websites and google but I canā€™t grasp it, if someone could provide me with every command I need to get this to work I can do it, and Iā€™m talking like commands to install applications/software/files needed to install the other applications/software/files even. Iā€™m using a fresh install of Ubuntu Pro. Please help.
TLDR; need ALL commands to get CAC to work on Ubuntu for .mil sites so I can switch to Ubuntu and ditch Windows for good.

2024.01.30 21:33 gshukin Email Issues

Recently, I noticed a peculiar behaviour with Shaw's mail service. For reference, I have had an shaw.ca email account for ever and with the Roger's takeover, I am sure that I will have to migrate to something 'new'.

For now, here is the issue. For years, Shaw has done a decent job of handling SPAM email. They have employed Cisco's IronPort Email appliances and generally done a good and balanced job of preventing SPAM. Using the old Zimbra Email client at webmail.shaw.ca you have been able to access email and some basic calendaring services. You have also been able to control how the system handles Junk Email. I assume that Junk mail is email that is on the cusp of being labeled as SPAM but not quite enough to tip the scale. Using the preferences, you can control what happens to email that is considered to by Junk. Either leave in the Junk Folder or leave in the inbox. The act of retrieving email with a program like Outlook will only get the email in the inbox and not the Junk Folder.

My issue is that since the acquisition, more and more email are being labeled as Junk, and many of these emails are labeled in Error. While I wouldn't care if these emails came to my inbox labeled as Spam, these emails are being moved to the Junk folder no matter what I configure in the client. After an exhausting call with Tech Support where they told me that I have to whitelist all emails that might be addressed to multiple recipients in order to avoid this issue, I gave up and emailed the [spam@shaw.ca](mailto:spam@shaw.ca) email address detailing my concerns. Nothing has been received back from Shaw / Rogers on this issue.

To be clear, the issue is that emails are being erroneously labeled as Junk and not being forwarded along to email clients no matter what you do on the settings of the email client. I suspect that most folks will not login to the webmail client and check their Junk Folders and I am certain that there is an auto delete after xx days occurring to keep things under control.

I would love to see Shaw / Rogers address this issue and confirm that commitment to reliable email services for the foreseeable future.

2024.01.23 04:15 SmoothSailing1111 Going to attempt my first 365 migration....have 5 questions

Decided to attempt myself after reading a few articles after my last post.
Small on-prem single Exchange 2016 Standard server with 200 mailboxes. Should be easy peasy. lol. 2012 R2 domain, hope to upgrade it to 2019 in 2-6 months depending if we can move legacy 2003 servers to an isolated network. Use SpamTitan for our spam filtering currently, will not change for now.
Got AD Syncing working in my tenant. Using Azure AD Connect. Have an account setup with my VAR (Connection.com) to purchase the 365 licenses. Now ready to run the 365 Hybrid Configuration wizard.
I want to take my time to migrate all the mailboxes to 365, probably 2-4 months. Have a number of mailboxes at 50GB, which we will purchase the licenses to go up to 100GB.
Main reason for upgrade is security (get rid of on-prem Exchange server open to the world), upgrade Office from 2010/2013, and utilize Teams for half of our staff.
Questions:
1.) I am going with "Full Hybrid Configuration. Good idea?
2.) I'm not sure to use Classic or Modern. I do have /ActiveSync open to the Internet with a LetsEncrypt SSL cert. The /OWA, /RCP, and /ECP folders are open but limited by IIS IP whitelist (only remote offices allowed). I want to lock down 443 only to Microsoft's IPs soon. 25 is already limited to SpamTitan. Thoughts on to select Classic or Modern?
3.) We currently use Duo for local/RDP/OpenVPN authentication for staff that requires remote access. /OWA is not open to the Internet, requires VPN or to be in an office via IIS IP whitelist. If we want to give OWA access on 365 to hourly staff that don't have company phones, what's best way to do MFA on these Plan 1 (OWA only) accounts? I believe we can use IP whitelists in 365 to disable MFA at our offices? Thoughts on best way to do this?
4.) We have a number of shared computers that with a generic AD login that hourly employees log into webmail with their own account. What's best route to go for licensing? Do we buy Office Pro 2021 for these computers and purchase 365 Basic OWA only accounts for their email? Seems like a waste of money to buy Business Standard for each of these employees.
5.) Once all my mailboxes are migrated to 365, I'd like to get rid of Exchange on-prem if possible. I want to keep AD on-prem. My thoughts are to upgrade to 2019, which then will allow me to move the management to the Admin 365 portal? Or do I need a 3rd party to keep the management GUI? Trying to figure out best path to completely get rid of Exchange on-prem.

I think that's it for now. Thanks :)

2024.01.17 10:38 Warlord1981 Knownhost Blocks my IP

Hello Everyone.
I recently migrated my whole cPanel from Hostgator to Knownhost (professional shared plan). From the moment I switched the nameservers from Hostgator to Knownhost, my clients have issues receiving/sending emails as they cannot connect to server. I spoke with Knownhost and this is because Knownhost Firewall blocks their IPs due to continous failed authentication attempts by specific email accounts of their domains originating from the ir public IP. And so they advised me to check settings, configs, credentials. However my clients did not change ANYTHING. Credentials, configs, devices are exactly the same as before! When they login to webmail via browser, they can see the IP block and check the Captcha and temporarily get unblocked, and immediately download all emails on all their devices, which means their devices are fine. But after a while they get blocked again.
Knownhost support keeps telling me to check configs ans settings and credentials for 3 days now.
Has anyone else experienced this issue before and if yes what did you do to solve it? Thanks in advance!

2023.12.19 11:19 ensbuergernde Office manager sabotaging herself trying to set uo out of office notifications for the company

Just a short bit from my daily life.
I am a small self employed IT consultant and sometimes, I can't avoid doing the first level support stuff I dread.
This is about Ellie, she is the office manager of a real estate company I work with. Ellie has a doctorate in political science.
She struggles with technology sometimes, she struggles even more following the simplest instructions as her German angst often gets in the way.
Her mail:

Ellie: Hello Ens, I want to activate the out of office agent (she meant assistant, she likes to make up her own words sometimes) for everyone (those real estate people there can't be bothered to set up their own ooo) as we close the office for the holidays. Per my recordings, I need to enter my name and this password "$Of course she sent her password in an unencrypted mail" into this link: https://office.company.com/webmail but it tells me wrong username or password. Please help me.

Ens: Hello Ellie, your recordings seem to be incorrect. You don't have your own mailbox, you're using the [info@company.com](mailto:info@company.com) mailbox with ellie@ set as an alias. To login to your account, you need to enter the username "info". Cheers!

Ellie: Thanks, but when I enter https://www.office.company.com/webmail I get an error message.

Ens: Please try without the www.

Ellie: I have changed that. But I still can't login. I have tried with username "Ellie" and password "[info@company.com](mailto:info@company.com)". This doesn't work. Where is the error?
(she actually ditched her password and used the mail address as a password out of the blue. she must have voices in her head telling her those things.)

She ended up succeeding, and because of course she has a paper list with all the passwords of the other users (I advised everyone to change their passwords and set up their own ooo but they just don't care), she then proceeded to change everyone's ooo.

2023.11.29 05:35 ol-gormsby Bigpond refusing POP and IMAP logins

A customer of mine had HDD corruption that Windows reset couldn't/wouldn't fix, so I took it back to a factory reset. Re-installed Win10, ran all the updates, restored her files (she does regular backups, yay!), and re-installed her software (she kept the discs, yay!).
Now granted, it's Office 2010, but it was all working fine before the crash. Manually download and install the final service pack for Office 2010. Configure Outlook with user ID and password.
But bigpond rejects login via POP, and IMAP. The password is OK, because I can log into webmail (and what a dreadful piece of software that is). Autodiscover fails encrypted and unencrypted, manual setup fails no matter what - unsecure port 110, SSL port 995, SSL port 993, unsecure SMTP port 25, secure SSL/TLS 465 or 587, all of them reject the login - returning "authentication failure". Remember, the password works for webmail. I can however send on port 25 *without* authentication.
OK, so Outlook is obsolete. Let's make sure all TLS versions are active, still rejects the login.
Download and try Thunderbird - current, up-to-date, definitely-not-obsolete software. Same results.
Try Android - current, up-to-date, definitely-not-obsolete software on both a phone and a tablet. Same result.
Get onto chat support. "You need a password reset". Uh, no, it's a valid password, webmail works. If the password authenticates for webmail, then the problem lies with your POP/IMAP authentication serves.
So I resign myself to a call to tech support. I explain the problem and the response is "We only guarantee webmail, you need to take it up with the supplier" "But why do you supply configuration details for email clients? Server names, ports, etc?" "We only guarantee webmail"
TPG is actively moving customers' email to another company. Telstra is just being sneaky about it. So be it, I'll be recommending people move away from Telstra/Bigpond altogether. Transfer services to Aussie Broadband or Superloop. Or Starlink and register their own domains for email service.

2023.11.14 12:03 TattooedTortoise Tutanota's porting of [my Tutanota email] to Tuta failed. What do I do now?

I have a Free tutanota account. I logged into my Tutanota webmail (using PC, Win 10, Firefox browser) and received the pop-up that Tutanota is now Tuta and "click here to port to Tuta". I did my research and then clicked the link. "Please wait". I waited and waited. Firefox hanged "Please wait". I decided to crash out. I tried browsers which I have fewer security settings and blocker Add-ins on: Chrome, PaleMoon, Vivaldi. In all cases the logo "Tuta.com" appeared when I logged in under Tutanota.
So I tested by sending an email from my PC home account to [my account]@tuta.com. The email has bounced.
I have tried logging in to [my account name]@tuta.com in Firefox, Vivaldi, PaleMoon, and Chrome. In all cases I get the message "Invalid login credentials. Please try again. Lost Account Access".
I do not have a lost account access, because I can log in to Tutanota.
I have also gone into the email of 8 November " Wed, 8 Nov ā€¢ nn:22 Tutanota is now Tuta! / s.u. fĆ¼r deutsche Version" and followed the prompts and clicked the link to sign up to Tuta with a new account. But I use the Free option. IIRC if I have more than one Tutanota account, all my accounts can be deleted because this is outside the rules. I do not want my account deleted. Trying to create a new account I get a splash screen asking me to attest that I do not have more than one tutanota account. But if I create a [my account name]@tuta.com to go with [my account name]@tutanota.com, that is two accounts. So I stop there; I go no further.
I have a prized email address at tutanota which I want to be a tuta address. Porting has failed. Creating a new account risks deletion. What do I do?

2023.11.01 03:09 mrsir0517 Help identify a vulnerability

All right so I really don't know how this is going to go without a picture, but I run across web pages from time to time when I'm collecting URLs for further processing, and it's always a blog style web page, at the top will be a login box, and the page will have a title of some kind, sometimes it says webmail, sometimes virtual server administration system, sometimes other stuff.
The pages are usually always blue, like powder blue, and they've got what appear to be server messages mixed in among regular text in a big block with "my resource" at the top. It's basically a blog post but somehow it's gotten server messages mixed in I don't know what the fuck it is.
If you mouse over the embedded server bymessages they are links that lead you to other pages that look just like this that have more links in them.
If this sounds familiar to anybody, what is this vulnerability, what is it called? I've gotten LFI on it already I just want to know if there's anything else I can do with it.
I can try to describe it better if anyone needs a better description but I mean it's kind of hard not being able to post a picture.
Thanks in advance
