So since people were asking for an update. Here we go.
We did not end up having a following date. She got tired from paragliding the next day(yesterday) I even went and nag relax sa beach malapit sa resort n'ya para if ever na mag reply s'ya na gusto n'yang lumabas eh malapit na'ko hahah. So when I asked her to hangout today she declined dahil she's done going outside. And she's leaving tomorrow morning na ren. She's introverted autistic so understandable. I respect it. But I tried asking for one more night kahit na sa hotel lang at mag usap just like the first night. I was gonna get flowers otw pa naman and give her my bracelet that I'm wearing during the time na I was with her and one of our photo booth picture na may hand written letter ko sa likod. But oh well š¤·āāļø. Am I upset? A lil bit but I came in terms with it. She was probably overwhelmed den dahil sa bagong experience at talagang I did my best talaga.
Now, were just chatting online na lang pero not like fast replying talking stage type shit.
Honestly, I wasn't expecting anything naman talaga after she leaves dahil considering every circumstances I know na di kame mag wowork as an ldr. Pero I love to think na what made it special between us was the underlying bittersweet part nga na we know there's an ending and have an idea about it. Just like a movie, may umpisa at may katapusan. Yes, it was like a movie(pinanood ko yung Before Sunset na sinabe nung unang comment sa first part ng post ko) so yeah for the most part it was really like that.
So now, from what I'm seeing between us we would just keep in touch through discord pero that's about it. I didn't ask her to get connected sa socmed na ren. Because it would make me keep my memory of her from those nights. This beautiful, interesting, mysterious, and weirdly fun woman I met.
I even told her to my friends. I told them the story and what happened. I told them what I'm telling you guys rn.
I honestly just wish she had an amazing time with me. Like something she'll remember for good amount of time. I really hope the best for her. I hope I've set the standard for her and she won't settle for less than me if she ever starts dating.
As for me? She changed me. Remember how I said I'm not the ideal guy sa first post ko? Yeah. I would frequently hookup. Had fwb/fubus. Would to multiple girls at the same time. I was like that.
But after meeting her and finally experiencing something like that and romanticizing everything about us, I liked it.
I long for something like that again but not right now. In the future sure.
So I deleted all my dating apps. Kinausap ko mga current girls na kinakausap ko and told them what happened which is unusual for me dahil almost everytime when I'm done talking with a girl I would just ghost them because it's easier for me. Stuffs like that, talagang binago n'ya ako. One of my friends is even proud of me. Kaya I even gave them the condoms that I'm supposed to use pa. Some of them aren't fond den sa lifestyle ko e hahah
But yeah, I'm done chasing girls and being sexually motivated. I would rather instead romanticize my own life. Make my own adventure and connect with people I meet along the way.
I even had my friend help me to make a bucket list for me. After namen mag usap kanina I submitted my leave request. I'm planning on going to a vacation on a different place na ren. Who knows? I might find someone who I'll go out with on wherever I go. I'm not gonna actively chase it but that does sounds fun naman haha parang sa perspective n'ya.
It might be not the kind of ending that you guys were hoping(me too) but it's an ending. So yeah, I hope she'll have a good life. I told myself na babatiin ko s'ya ng happy birthday ever.

I woke up to seagulls this morning, I really like the sound of them. I mean they donāt make pretty sounds, nor is it relaxing, but it feels like a comforting noise I guess? I think because I like being by the sea. Iām not sure. It was nice though. I love living by the sea, like I hear ship horns and seagulls and all of that. It makes me forever paranoid of tsunamis though. I think Iād like to live in a little seaside town with my honey, but I also donāt because then I couldnāt have the garden of my dreams nor would I have the countryside lifestyle I want. I donāt really know what I want. I donāt think I have enough money to be all that picky anyway.
I kind of woke up with that pit in my stomach feeling today. I donāt like how our calls were last night, either one of them. The first I felt like he didnāt want to talk to me and the second it was me being like that to him. I didnāt mean to make it come across that way, but I think he just caught me out when I was mid-deep sleep? I couldnāt wake up or focus and idk. Normally Iām fine to wake up though? And I love his night time calls, to know heās thinking about me makes me feel so warm inside. It feels weird to think I ever cross his mind when we arenāt in an active conversation, I guess that comes back to the self esteem thing and feeling unworthy of being a thought in his mind, not feeling important enough, or something. But in that second call, I guess I didnāt like that he got me off the phone earlier because he was so sleepy, but then it turned out he was still up and about two hours later? It made me feel like he lied about being tired to get rid of me. I donāt think that was the case, but itās how it made me feel in the moment. Anyway I woke up feeling uneasy, I felt okay but a little uneasy so I made sure to apologise. I think as well because I fell asleep feeling a little uneasy, it felt like he rushed me off the phone or like I was boring him to death or something. But it made me think about how itās only 9pm where he is, and that he could quite easily have someone come over around that time. I donāt believe he would do that, but it scares me all the same. The way in which he could crush me into nothing is a little frightening sometimes, it really feels like Iāve just laid out my sad little heart out there for him to stomp all over if he so wishes to do so. I know if he did end things I would be okay, I think, but I canāt say I donāt worry about how it would affect my mental health and ārecoveryā - how far would it set me back? But also thatās not on him at all, and Iām never ever going to imply as such to him. He ought to make decisions based on what he wants and is best for him. Anyway itās fine and we talked this morning and nothing has changed for him either, we both still want each other and this so it doesnāt even matter. I still feel bad about how I made him feel. Iām really glad, even though I made him feel bad which I wish I hadnāt, but sometimes it really helps to have him say he still wants this. I know his actions speak louder than words, but sometimes I need the words too. And so him saying āIām still the sameā was really reassuring and made me feel so lovey.
Iāve made a hair appointment, for end of June. I kind of wanted it early June as my hair is annoying the f out of me now, but her first available slot is end of June sooo I guess it still works out well. It gives me five weeks to continue growing out my layers so that we can start afresh. Iām going to get my face framies cut shorter this time as they grow out so quickly. I think otherwise Iāll get very subtle layering, enough to add some movement and help it air dry nicely, but I want the ends as thick as possible too. Iāll get a general root touch up to darken them up a little, and then a tonegloss for the lengths to cool down the warmth a little and darken it up ever so slightly. And then Iāve booked in for a full on olaplex treatment, so that will be nice. I am all about my hair health this year. I always have been but now even more so.
Itās so autumnal today. I really want to watch my favourite cosy romcoms, their autumn scenes are always my most absolute favourite. And winter I suppose. Basically Meg Ryan in autumn is my favourite thing and comforts me to no end.
I think I assume that if I know something then everyone else must know it too, so when they donāt I find it baffling that they donāt know. I guess because I consider myself thicker than a brick and everyone else smarter than I am, so Iād say in the team quiz no one knows the answer I start thinking how do you not know this, but thatās unfair of me and Iām making an assumption based on my low self esteem. But also I am as dumb as a rock so I mean thereās low self esteem and then thereās self awareness. But I just assume that if I know something, then it therefore must be as widely known as 2+2=4.
Iām wearing my Mon Guerlain perfume today, I quite like it, I guess I liked it a fair but considering I seem to have both a bottle of the edp and edt? I think this was during lockdown. Anyway I never wear it but I am today as itās quite a warm scent, itās like a warm vanilla but with a touch of lavender? Barely any lavender though, just a teeny tiny little bit. I just googled and thatās exactly what it is so yay me! Except itās blatantly obvious so perhaps Iāll calm down on the self celebrations. Anyway itās not one Iād replace but I do like it I suppose. It feels a little mature, not in an older woman way but in a mid-40s way. I read a comment and it said that it gives wife-and-adoring-mother with a wealthy husband, whoās just kissed her children goodnight before sweeping off in her furs to dinner and the opera. Itās classy and elegant, but with something warm and motherly to it and I get that too. Like the mama in Peter Pan! Anyway Iām a little ways off that stage of my life. But itās a nice wfh scent I suppose. Most of my perfumes are just wfh/chill at home ones now. I wear perfume everyday, Iād say thatās silly but a) Andy tends to too and anything he does that I do makes me feel more assured itās okay, b) I have a lottttt to get through and c) even if I didnāt have a lottttt to get through I still would because I just like to feel pretty. I may be as ugly as a troll but I will still be presentable enough. Not nicely, but perfume, groomed brows, glowy skin/skincare, my cutie lil diamond studs, brushed hair etc. Except I like a lived in look, I donāt like to look super prim and proper I prefer more bedheady hair and to look like I donāt care an awful lot, but in a nonchalant Kate Moss way not a get wrecked Adam Sandler way. Except I think Adam Sandler is the better of the two - I read he still has a regular-ish house? Then again it was the internet and Iām as gullible asā¦ idk something gullible. Thatās what I adore about Andy, he will do his own research and not believe anything outright, heāll question it and all of that. Whereas I can just be like woowwwww crazy and then move on. There are many ways Iād like to be more like him, I donāt want to be like him but I just want to be better and heās better so idk. He seems a little paranoid Iāll be like his ex who basically tried to become the tweedle dum to his tweedle dee, but I mean thatās never going to happen? I like to try things he likes, for example snacks and drinks and things. And if he says he enjoys using something and recommends it, ie his mouse, then I take his recommendations seriously. But Iām never going to dress or act like him, I mean I adore him but I donāt want to be a manā¦? I like being girly and different from him! But I just mean I like how he approaches things, I like how he handles disagreements or thinks about new information - theyāre things I want to kind of learn from him. Not in a way where Iād ask because that makes it weirder. Idk. This whole thing is weird. I just admire him. Now I sound like some kinda single white femaleā¦ which I amā¦ oh god.
Todays been fine overall. I did something new workwise, getting into LOEs for H&S speeding stuff, I had a call with a manager about one of his direct reports this morning and he was like I mean is it that bad and I had to tell a 40 something grown man that it is indeed bad to speed 28km over the speed limit. For any reason. And in a branded vehicle at that. Anyway so then I had to do the letter which was fine but itās such a confusing template so I suggested some alterations to the Head of and she said they were excellent and she would change the template letter to include my suggestions, so that made me feel good. I enjoy that part of my work, I think I like processes and policies and all of that stuff. Idk why someone with social anxiety thought it would be smart to get into PEOPLE advisory. But like I said, as thick as a brick.
I had such a fun chat with him this evening, he makes me all giggly and silly and I hate myself for saying that. The word giggle is so bleh. I mean itās a cute word but it feels wrong to say for whatever reason. Itās like when people say āheheā in texts or whatever, it makes me feel gross even though I donāt even mind it. I think in the right context from the right person itās fine, but Iāve never experienced that so idk. Now Iām thinking ofā¦ something. Something we watched. And the subtitles had it as āheh hehā and Iām thinking sopranos. Anyway newsflash to no one: I love him a hellllllll of a lot.
I wish I didnāt have to go to the office tomorrow. Itās so annoying. I know itās good for me and also my manager has outright asked me to, so I kind of have to regardless, but also Iāll just focus on the fact itās good for me to be properly out of the house and stuff. And it has perks I guess, I can have sushi for lunch, peruse the bookshop nearby and I also donāt snack when Iām at the office, I take nuts with me but I donāt eat them because I get all anxy about if people can hear me chewing or if they think Iām some kind of insatiable ogre who canāt wait til lunch or dinner. But so I just have a few bits of sushi for lunch. Although I really want to try this Vietnamese place, they have a salad that looks so bloody good, but Iāve never been and it looks like the kind you line up for like subway and that sends a barrage of anxiety through me so maybe sometime in the future. But I also tend to get more done and idk. Itās good for me. Iāll just keep telling myself that while I hate life two days a week for the foreseeable. Itās not even that bad, it is bad anxiety wise - like yesterday I didnāt go to the bathroom for over an hour from when I needed to pee because of my anxiety, I also didnāt fill up my drink bottle or get another coffee at all for the whole day. So my anxiety is bad, but maybe over time itāll get better, Iām sure it will, I just have to suck it up in the interim.
I think Iāll stop now because I have 10 mins exactly til 8 and I need to get entirely ready for bed and post this. I needed to blowdry my hair but I spent too long in the shower and now I donāt have time so oh well. Tbh I look like utter shite anyway lately so whatās a bad hair day to go with it? I like to try things he likes, for example snacks and drinks and things. And if he says he enjoys using something and recommends it, ie his mouse, then I take his recommendations seriously. But Iām never going to dress or act like him, I mean I adore him but I donāt want to be a manā¦? I like being girly and different from him! For any reason. And in a branded vehicle at that. Anyway so then I had to do the letter which was fine but itās such a confusing template so I suggested some alterations to the Head of and she said they were excellent and she would change the template letter to include my suggestions, so that made me feel good. I enjoy that part of my work, I think I like processes and policies and all of that stuff. Idk why someone with social anxiety thought it would be smart to get into PEOPLE advisory. But like I said, as thick as a brick.
I had such a fun chat with him this evening, he makes me all giggly and silly and I hate myself for saying that. The word giggle is so bleh. I mean itās a cute word but it feels wrong to say for whatever reason. Itās like when people say āheheā in texts or whatever, it makes me feel gross even though I donāt even mind it. I think in the right context from the right person itās fine, but Iāve never experienced that so idk. Now Iām thinking ofā¦ something. Something we watched. And the subtitles had it as āheh hehā and Iām thinking sopranos. Anyway newsflash to no one: I love him a hellllllll of a lot.
I wish I didnāt have to go to the office tomorrow. Itās so annoying. I know itās good for me and also my manager has outright asked me to, so I kind of have to regardless, but also Iāll just focus on the fact itās good for me to be properly out of the house and stuff. And it has perks I guess, I can have sushi for lunch, peruse the bookshop nearby and I also donāt snack when Iām at the office, I take nuts with me but I donāt eat them because I get all anxy about if people can hear me chewing or if they think Iām some kind of insatiable ogre who canāt wait til lunch or dinner. But so I just have a few bits of sushi for lunch. Although I really want to try this Vietnamese place, they have a salad that looks so bloody good, but Iāve never been and it looks like the kind you line up for like subway and that sends a barrage of anxiety through me so maybe sometime in the future. But I also tend to get more done and idk. Itās good for me. Iāll just keep telling myself that while I hate life two days a week for the foreseeable. Itās not even that bad, it is bad anxiety wise - like yesterday I didnāt go to the bathroom for over an hour from when I needed to pee because of my anxiety, I also didnāt fill up my drink bottle or get another coffee at all for the whole day. So my anxiety is bad, but maybe over time itāll get better, Iām sure it will, I just have to suck it up in the interim.

I have recently bought some short dungarees from Lucy and Yak which I was very excited about due to their companies ethos.
I looked at the measurements and there was no height include (important in dungarees) so naturally ordered the size up to allow for height (Iām pretty tall) before purchasing I checked the refund/exchange policy and it states as long as I return the item within 30 days, item is clean, unwashed and with the tags still on itās fine. (Excludes rights, underwear etc) Purchased this as it would allow me to try on the item and return for exchange if was the incorrect fit (like the majority of shops)
Item delivered and was wayyyy too big like felt like 10 sizes too but not just one. Tried it on so opened the plastic bag it was delivered in - if I did not do this I wouldnāt have been able to try it on. Included in the bag is a return slip with the option of āitem wrong sizeā followed all the delivery options - clean, tags still on, not washed etc literally had it on for 30 seconds over clothes and returned within the time allowed.
Anyway just received an email from Lucy & Yak and they have said my exchange request had been decline and original item will be returned to me. The reason for the exchange being declined was because āthe plastic bag had been openedā

And the normal kids seemed not to even be trying to better themselves.
Then I learned about the Sephora girls and how they are straight up menaces to other people and demand skincare that isnāt designed for their age group and can damage them(instead of getting age appropriate skincare). I learned about the horrible Sephora moms enabling this with instagrams
Then I learned about young boys(like 6-9 year olds) accessing extremely sexist streamers and a pretty notorious rapist and trafficker named āquagmireā Tate who was just arrested for sex trafficking influencing young minds to regress regarding equality and no means no etc. I then saw more teachers saying how toxic kids are becoming and they seem to have no real life goals other than being influencers. And then quitting because of such flagrant behavior.
I was confused by all of this like it seemed like the parents werenāt even trying to teach the kids basics like how letters are pronounced, how to tie shoes, not to steal the cookie, etc. this continued to be hard to understand like it didnāt make sense. Like these problems used to be a very small minority like not everyone is like this but now it seemed that not āeveryones kids are badā while still a fair amount seemed even smaller compared to to it seems like the kids who were never taught seemed to increase.
Then when I saw one video which talked about the Sephora kids she brought up a TikTok talking about why gen alpha ended up so bad and the video brought up the accessory baby trend of the 2010s that really blew up around that time. I then watched the TikTok and thatās when it clicked. The kids who were born then are the same that are gen alpha. I remembered that on YouTube and other sites was filled with teens who were excited about having a baby and belly progressions etc.
it made total sense why gen alpha is horribly underprepared because many of these kids were(and are) the accessory babies born in the 2010s that were born to a large minority of(a lot of) teenagers who wanted to showcase their cute baby as if they were a furby accessory trying to copy the celebrity (spesficially the kardashians and Kyle Jenner) accessory baby trend which resulted in the aesthetic of parenting and having a cute baby without any of the actual work needed to raise a baby to a functioning human being with good literacy skills, a reasonable education and basically becoming a functioning person.
Oh and teen mom the tv show(which despite showing some of the darker sides and contributing to a decline in teen pregnancyās some dumb kids still took inspiration) . Itās made even worse because now TikTok and instagram reels glorifying pregnancy at young(like teenage) ages for aesthetics even if said person was not ready or willing to handle responsibly raising a future adult and showing none of the true consequences and sorrow that comes with ruining your and a future humans life, instead being filled with instagram photos of cute mommy and baby in matching outfits on highly staged photos with no hint on how difficult it is to raise a human being.
Anyway The baby was never supposed to grow up as a person and become a functioning human being but to be a silent being with no thoughts of itās own to dress up and show off to instagram and Pinterest. Essentially a doll. However when that baby started to grow up into their own person and becoming a human being because as it turns out babyās grow up to be a functioning adult. The parents has no desire to be a parent and does not know how to raise a functioning human so they dumped them in front of iPads in order to get them out of the way and basically negelect them. The consequence is that now we have an entire generation of kids who have not been taught basic lessons and how to be a functioning person.
It even affects the kids who werenāt accessory babies and are being raised by people who actually want to see their child succeed in life , because the peer pressure to act more mature than before has ramped up significantly as the moms of the accessory babies shunned kid appropriate outfits and acting their age and stuff because they wanted the babies to be dressed up in adult fashions for instagram photo ops and have engrained that acting like a kid is stupid and that they go from accessory Baby to hot young adult with no inbetween in their minds which warps them to act like an āadultā when way too young. Itās essentially the traditional 10 year old wants to act older but warped far beyond what it used to be and if a kid simply acts like their age group they are often picked on by accessory baby bullies which means that a lot of kids are now under peer pressure to grow up way too fast because the accessory kids that dominate the school and act like monsters towards everyone else.

And for the girls being brainwashed into acting like adults and buying skincare that burns their skin instead of age appropate skin care.
This is scary because they are our next doctors, artists, writers, musicians, librarians, mechanic, firefighters, plumbers, etc. and they end up with social media addicitions and have shockingly short attention spans thanks to overstimulating YouTube shorts and they were never taught how to be a successful person who thrives in society all because they were treated as disposable photo props to get more IG likes.
To be clear not every parent is like this and there are many parents trying to raise their kids good and teaching them to be a good person but it is concearning how the accessory babies are now being turned into monsters at shockingly young ages. I really hope people wake up and realize that this is a problem and how we need to educate kids and prevent toxic Tate influences on boys And toxic trends on girls. We need to let kids learn positive values and teach the, about diversity and how to be a good person and helping other people and doing good things and working hard to achieve whatever goals they want.
We need to fix this and help prepare kids to be a functioning good adults so that they can succeed. Then it went a little deeper when I saw videos of teachers talking about how their regular kids(like kids without disabilities) are struggling below grade level and this is like 6th grade students having almost no attention spans and having reading levels and learning levels far below like 3rd grade levels, and not knowing certain basics There was even a video that mentioned how even sped kids despite their disadvantage had higher reading levels than normal kids. And the normal kids seemed not to even be trying to better themselves.
Then I learned about the Sephora girls and how they are straight up menaces to other people and demand skincare that isnāt designed for their age group and can damage them(instead of getting age appropriate skincare). I learned about the horrible Sephora moms enabling this with instagrams
Then I learned about young boys(like 6-9 year olds) accessing extremely sexist streamers and a pretty notorious rapist and trafficker named āquagmireā Tate who was just arrested for sex trafficking influencing young minds to regress regarding equality and no means no etc. I then saw more teachers saying how toxic kids are becoming and they seem to have no real life goals other than being influencers. And then quitting because of such flagrant behavior.
I was confused by all of this like it seemed like the parents werenāt even trying to teach the kids basics like how letters are pronounced, how to tie shoes, not to steal the cookie, etc. this continued to be hard to understand like it didnāt make sense. Like these problems used to be a very small minority like not everyone is like this but now it seemed that not āeveryones kids are badā while still a fair amount seemed even smaller compared to to it seems like the kids who were never taught seemed to increase.
Then when I saw one video which talked about the Sephora kids she brought up a TikTok talking about why gen alpha ended up so bad and the video brought up the accessory baby trend of the 2010s that really blew up around that time. I then watched the TikTok and thatās when it clicked. The kids who were born then are the same that are gen alpha. I remembered that on YouTube and other sites was filled with teens who were excited about having a baby and belly progressions etc.
it made total sense why gen alpha is horribly underprepared because many of these kids were(and are) the accessory babies born in the 2010s that were born to a large minority of(a lot of) teenagers who wanted to showcase their cute baby as if they were a furby accessory trying to copy the celebrity (spesficially the kardashians and Kyle Jenner) accessory baby trend which resulted in the aesthetic of parenting and having a cute baby without any of the actual work needed to raise a baby to a functioning human being with good literacy skills, a reasonable education and basically becoming a functioning person.
Oh and teen mom the tv show(which despite showing some of the darker sides and contributing to a decline in teen pregnancyās some dumb kids still took inspiration) . Itās made even worse because now TikTok and instagram reels glorifying pregnancy at young(like teenage) ages for aesthetics even if said person was not ready or willing to handle responsibly raising a future adult and showing none of the true consequences and sorrow that comes with ruining your and a future humans life, instead being filled with instagram photos of cute mommy and baby in matching outfits on highly staged photos with no hint on how difficult it is to raise a human being.
Anyway The baby was never supposed to grow up as a person and become a functioning human being but to be a silent being with no thoughts of itās own to dress up and show off to instagram and Pinterest. Essentially a doll. However when that baby started to grow up into their own person and becoming a human being because as it turns out babyās grow up to be a functioning adult. The parents has no desire to be a parent and does not know how to raise a functioning human so they dumped them in front of iPads in order to get them out of the way and basically negelect them. The consequence is that now we have an entire generation of kids who have not been taught basic lessons and how to be a functioning person.
It even affects the kids who werenāt accessory babies and are being raised by people who actually want to see their child succeed in life , because the peer pressure to act more mature than before has ramped up significantly as the moms of the accessory babies shunned kid appropriate outfits and acting their age and stuff because they wanted the babies to be dressed up in adult fashions for instagram photo ops and have engrained that acting like a kid is stupid and that they go from accessory Baby to hot young adult with no inbetween in their minds which warps them to act like an āadultā when way too young. Itās essentially the traditional 10 year old wants to act older but warped far beyond what it used to be and if a kid simply acts like their age group they are often picked on by accessory baby bullies which means that a lot of kids are now under peer pressure to grow up way too fast because the accessory kids that dominate the school and act like monsters towards everyone else.

It will show me both my phone number and email, the number which I think is leftover cruft from when they tried to combine my wireless account with FIOS. If you select the phone number, it wonāt work and you have to start over. They want you to select your email.
If you select your email, it will then punt you through another couple screens.

Because it took a month, I emailed grad admissions about my application status. The department that recommended me then emailed me separately saying that grad admissions is denying my admission due to ānot meeting minimum overall GPA requirement (which is 2.5)ā
My overall GPA is a 3.4, Iāve never scored anything less than a 3.0 on any semester. I emailed grad admissions and told them that information is incorrect. Grad admissions got back to me and said that my application has not been reviewed by their committee and that it is still with the department.
I even called admissions office and told them my situation, they told me that they havenāt gotten my recommendation and they donāt know why the department is saying that, they have not made a decision yet.
I emailed the department and they told me that did recommend me for admission and grad admissions still stated I do not meet the GPA requirement. They even asked them to double check and still concluded I do not meet the GPA requirement.
The department itself stated that they review applications more strictly than grad admissions. If I was recommended for admission and declined by the grad admissions, how is that even possible? But they asked it they could retract the bid and if I could list it and they would send an offer they would accept which I did, they paid and seemed happy.
I said I would post first thing in the morning, bubble wrap, wrote their address and sent them an image of the box ready to go. They Said thanks, but less than 5 minutes later they said they want it immediately cancelled and it was a mistake.
So if I cancel the order now after packaging it up and paying for bubble wrap and protection etc waiting to post. Do I have to pay the seller fee or does the money just get refunded to the person or do I just complete the order? I don't want to be out sellers fees for them which would be about Ā£40

Calling Barclays for an explanation, the rep was very nonchalant..."we reduced your limit based on [random factors], and you'll get a letter from us explaining by the end of next week." (ie this weekend). The letter arrived in today's mail.
I am really put off by the fact that Barclays thinks that a 2 - 3 week notice timeline for such a drastic decrease (>50%) was remotely acceptable. And I've been on the fence about this card for a bit anyway...but this is really the final straw for me, so I'm looking for a new card that will earn airmiles, but I don't need it to be airline specific. I do have status with American, but am not committed to maintaining it going forward.
I know of AMEX Platinum, but I'm concerned the amount of churn with inquiries (am also gearing up for ~$100k in renovations) and balances over the past 12 months will make me appear to be poor candidate. And of course, closing my oldest open line will likely torpedo my score.
Probably I'll have to end up taking the "L," so to speak, and probably pay off the balance and stuff it in a drawer. Or just accept that I had shit usage recently, and stuff like this is my comeuppance.

To start off, I understand it's a bad time to be a buyer: interest rates are high compared to the past few years, supply is low (because of the previously low rates), rents are rising.
My search has been focused around 2+ bed condos in the north side of town, along the Red/Brown/Blue lines due to proximity to family and need to commute into the Loop. Focused on walkups, due to lower HOAs. I'm looking at listings in the range of $275k-$325k to allow for leeway for bidding higher. My vision is to live in the place for 4-5 years to build equity and then either roll that equity into another property or rent out.
I have submitted a number of what I considered to be competitive offers: 5-10% over asking price, with 20-33% down and all have been declined. Since I started the process, I've kept track of places I liked and bid on to see how much they closed for and how long it took (to suss out cash offers).
Here are a few of the "highlights":
All of this makes me super weary about my plan. Even though I fully expect the monthly mortgage payment (+HOA/taxes) to be higher than my current rent, all of this bidding makes it almost prohibitively so. Even if a refinance was feasible down the line, the higher base price would still be keeping the monthly payment above what the going price for rentals would be.
I wanted to hear from others who are currently looking or who recently closed on a place (lucky you!) to gain a sense of what you've seen and what worked for you. I was expecting this to be an uphill battle but I clearly need to recalibrate and adjust what I do going forward.

Here are a few of the "highlights":
- 1bd+den condo listed for $299k in Ravenswood Gardens just closed for $370k (23.7% over asking!)
- Andersonville 1bd loft listed for $350k closed for $405k (15.7% over asking!)
- 2bd condo in Logan Square going under contract within 6hrs of the listing going live
- So many all-cash offers over asking price
All of this makes me super weary about my plan. Even though I fully expect the monthly mortgage payment (+HOA/taxes) to be higher than my current rent, all of this bidding makes it almost prohibitively so. Even if a refinance was feasible down the line, the higher base price would still be keeping the monthly payment above what the going price for rentals would be.
I wanted to hear from others who are currently looking or who recently closed on a place (lucky you!) to gain a sense of what you've seen and what worked for you. I was expecting this to be an uphill battle but I clearly need to recalibrate and adjust what I do going forward.
So if you're also going through this, how are you feeling? How long have you been in the market? What's your plan?
