2024.01.29 07:02 Dirk_Diggler788 Life/annuities companies in cool places

I have a couple years of experience working in CT area. I've lived in Northeast and midwest in my life before, and have to say that I am sick of the winter and am wanting to go somewhere down south. Unfortunately for life insurance, that is where most of the jobs seem to be (northeast/midwest). I'm trying to compile a list of companies in cooler places, which to me means mostly eastern sun belt or Texas, or Denver. Arizona would be cool but I haven't found much there. Charlotte would probably be my top choice. So far I have found the following:
NC:
-Equitable (Charlotte)
-Principal (Charlotte)
-SCOR (Charlotte)
-Martello Re (Charlotte)
-Brighthouse Financial (Charlotte)
-Lincoln Financial (Greensboro).
-USAA Life (Charlotte)

TN:
-Unum (Chattanooga)
-Fortitude Re (Nashville)

FL:
-Sagicor (Tampa)
-Transamerica (Saint Petersburg)
-Allstate Digital Life (Jacksonville)
-Hannover Re (Orlando)

SC:
-Unum/Colonial Life (Columbia)
-Companion Life (Columbia)

GA:
-Primerica (Alpharetta)
-Unum (Atlanta)
-Munich Re (Atlanta)

Texas:
-National Life Group (Dallas)
-Corebridge (Houston)
-National Western Life (Austin)
-NYL (Austin)
-American National (Galveston)
-Optimum Re (Dallas)
-USAA (San Antonio)

Denver:
-Great West Financial
-Oceanview Life and annuity

Arizona
-Sagicor (Scottsdale)

Does anyone know of other smaller companies with offices in these states?

2021.01.21 21:27 wade001 looking to get rid of DVR rental, what are my options?

hi everyone!
due to amount of DVR issues we have had and how often i had to take it back and get it replaced (at least 10 in the past few years). which meant lost recordings, and have to setup season series again.. then seems like all the channels we like to watch are skip and freeze all the time. it became more of a hassle than it was worth, and i went looking for other alternatives, now that i have found them, im looking to get rid of the DVR, but keep the basic cable we have
we live in north orlando, FL. used to be brighthouse, now we're spectrum. i should also mention we live in a condo. our cable TV is bought and paid for by our Home Owners Association. this HOA covers the "basic cable package". residents are responsible to pay for anything extra. so we pay for a DVR and an internet package. so, once i get rid of the DVR i'll just have access to a basic cable package, whatever package that may be.
we also have an android smart TV. i thought it had a digital tuner, but long story short.. it seems it doesnt. since my HOA includes a basic cable package, i'd like to use it.. but i dont want to pay any more fees for rental boxes and such (or very minimal fees). how can i use my existing TV (Hisense 55H8F) to receive the basic cable package that we are provided with?
what can i buy, from amazon (or wherever) that will let me tune this basic cable package that i have without renting something from spectrum? maybe i have to rent something from spectrum? a tuning adapter? is that what they are called?
i dont really want a box anymore, the TV hangs on the wall, i'd like the box to mount on the back of the TV (velcro/zip tie) and call it a day. if i could buy something once and done that would be great. if i have to rent a box then thats not ideal, but we'll see how expensive it is.
thanks everyone for your time.

2020.02.19 17:57 Strike_Gently "Future of WWE: The Story of FCW" documentary to air following Elimination Chamber

During today's live stream of WWE's The Bump, it was announced that the WWE Network will premiere a new documentary titled "Future of WWE: The Story of FCW" on Sunday 3/8 following the 2020 Elimination Chamber PPV..
FCW aka Florida Championship Wrestling was the final WWE developmental predeccesor before the NXT brand took on that distinction. Based in Tampa, Florida, FCW ran from From October 2007 until August 2012, operated by Steve Keirn with a weekly series on The Brighthouse Network in Florida. With Dusty Rhodes heavily involved, the idea was that FCW was continuing on the tradition of the former Eddie Graham territory in Florida with a number of WWE names starting out in the promotion, including Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and more.
FCW was shut down when WWE made the decision to move developmental to the Orlando area as part their relationship with Full Sail University.

2019.02.21 19:33 mak0t0san Still no IPv6 in 2019?!

Still no IPv6 in 2019?!
It's 2019 and Spectrum still doesn't have IPv6 in this area. In the Orlando area, it used to be Brighthouse which got merged with Spectrum. Other than a name change, I have not seen any changes or improvements in the service.
Any former Brighthouse customers here that do have IPv6?

2019.02.19 01:45 im_with_the_banned Anyone with CenturyLink Fiber?

I'm moving from one end of Orlando to another in a week and was about to transfer my Spectrum service to the new address when I thought about considering other options. I've been with Spectrum since the 90's (Adelphia -> Time Warner -> Brighthouse -> Spectrum) almost simply because they've been the only option where I've lived besides Dish.
However CenturyLink apparently has a fiber run in the area that I'm moving to ($65/mo. for 1,000 Mbps fiber vs. the current $90/mo. for 300 Mbps copper I'm paying for). Speeds aside, fiber is generally much more reliable and it's my understanding that the infrastructure for these installations is mostly brand new, opposite of the decaying copper hardware that's been sitting in some places even for decades, just getting bandaged every now and then. The last Spectrum tech I had out even advised downgrading from the 300 Mbps service because it's too unreliable and they're just pushing bandwidth through antiquated hardware that it was never designed to support in the first place.
The only reviews I've heard from those with CenturyLink are those with dish services, nothing with fiber. I'm also curious if they're just backpacking off of ATT's fiber they've been laying across CenFla for the last year or two (which is fine, I honestly wish ATT serviced our area. Customer service aside, I've heard nothing but great things about the consistency and reliability of their fiber, but that's just typical fiber vs copper things).
Edit: I wanted to add that I'd be purchasing my own modem and router and dealing with the local config myself, and not renting their equipment.
So, anyone out there with this service? Thoughts? Can anyone confirm if it's fiber to the prem, or is it just to the node? Figured I'd ask before calling tomorrow.

Disclaimer: I posted last night, but realized I didn't need as much money. I canceled that request, and I'm requesting less now.
I'm moving and thought I could just move electric and internet services to my new place. Unfortunately, Duke Energy and Brighthouse/Spectrum are making me pay deposits before I can start new service.
If necessary, I can provide license, pay stubs, etc. I will pay back $625 on September 6, 2017.
Thank you in advance.

2018.11.23 18:13 DAM091 Any ideas for lowering my bill?

I love in Orlando and am geographically stuck with Spectrum internet. When i first signed up, I got the old $35 100mbps deal from brighthouse. It would double after a year, but a phone call every year would get it right back to $35 ($39 on the bill). Then they changed to Spectrum, and they won't give me the deal anymore. I called and asked what they could do, and they said they could drop it to $70 for the same speed of I switch over to a Spectrum account and swap out my modem.
Does anybody know of a way to get a better deal? If not, should I make this change? Does anybody have any experience with changing from Brighthouse to Spectrum? I'm looking for internet only, around 100 mbps or more if the price is good, and for now, I stuck with Spectrum. Hopefully Verizon or AT&T start servicing my area soon. Until then, I have no other choice for high speed internet.

2018.07.23 16:29 MolTarfic L-BH Spectrum with TM1602G modem

I'm a legacy brighthouse customer in orlando area and was having trouble since Brigthouse installed using very old line that wasn't RG6. Spectrum tech came, installed new line, and swapped the modem to a TM1602G. It has been running significantly better (105 / 10 mb) consistently on the 100mg plan, however the ping does seem to spike randomly. When running the puma6 test on DSLreports the results are very red and problematic.
I noticed my modem still is on Firmware from 2016 when Spectrum supposedly already released the Jan 2018 firmware to these modems to help address the Puma6 problem. I tried resetting, calling brighthouse, etc to see if I could force the upgrade since it has been weeks now but no luck. Any idea if this is normal or how to fix it?
Brighthouse phone support said everytime the modem restarts it is automatically upgrades to latest firmware so that is not the issue (and supposedly that means 2016 firmware is all that is available for me). He said to just swap the modem at a Spectrum store. Is this worth trying? I'm worried since it is still significantly better than before so I don't want them to just give me a worse modem. From my understanding all spectrum modems are Puma6 except the 1gig users, which isn't even available here if I wanted it.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

2018.01.24 20:08 WestsideWalrus Any alternatives to Spectrum in College Park?

Hey Orlando, anyone here know of viable alternatives to Spectrum in the College Park (32804) area? I just found out the rate that I was grandfathered in via Brighthouse actually was promotional, and now my monthly bill is shooting up $20 a month to a brutal $69.99. Apparently they don't have cheaper plans. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated!

2017.12.14 14:12 accidentalmemory Spectrum's $29.99 Bundle?

I've been a Brighthouse/Spectrum customer since moving to Orlando 5 years ago and have always paid the full price because I view them as the best of the bad options I've had. Never really had any issues, never really had any reason or want to switch.
I just moved and I guess they "officially" switched me from Brighthouse to Spectrum and I've been getting fliers for the $29.99 Internet/TV/Phone bundle for the first year. Obviously, that's far less than I've been paying and it's tempting to talk to them about it but I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with it as it seems like a convenient way for them to screw me over somehow in a non-obvious way. Any small print shenanigans going on with it?
Thanks!

2017.11.21 01:29 Gladyspet Internet Provider

Hey everyone, I just moved to Orlando this morning. I was trying to figure out what internet provider to get. Comcast and AT&T are not in my area. I was offered 60 mbps for $45 a month with Brighthouse which doesn’t sound great. Any advice would be great. Thanks!

2017.11.03 21:12 noloc45 Any other internet providers other than Spectrum out there??

Ive been with Brighthouse for a few years now. Had 100 down for $45/month.
Now they jacked my price up to $80+ with Spectrum.
Whats out there that I can switch to? I live 1.5 miles west of downtown orlando.
This monopoly is kinda ridiculous. I asked if they had anything lower than 100 for less price and they told me no. What gives??

2016.04.06 03:07 kenendorf How to know if house is connected to Comcast or another provider?

Hello. I just moved to Orlando which has Comcast and Brighthouse. I want to sign up for one or the other and would like to opt for a self install but I want to verify my new rental house is connected. I was going to just plug my cable modem in and see if it gets a signal but how do I know if I'm getting a signal from Comcast or Brighthouse? Or maybe this is a dumb question and it doesn't work that way?

2016.02.02 00:56 Agentlongwood Brighthouse speed test vs other speed test websites

So I noticed today that using brighthouse's speedtest site, Speedtest.bhn.net, I get about 200-210 mbps download and 17mbps upload. However... if I use Speedtest.net I get about 150mbps down and 17mbps up. I tried a couple other speed tests but none had servers near Orlando. I got about 145mbps from one in Atlanta. Do other folks get the same type of results? I feel like I may be paranoid and skeptical but I just don't trust a companies own in house speed test. It feels like "Of course yours says 200mbps, your the ones running it. You could tell me it was whatever speed you want." What kind of results do other folks get?

2016.01.26 00:44 TommytheTitan Severe internet problems

Brighthouse is my internet provider, I live in a suburb of Orlando, Florida. Recently my internet goes out once every minute, It comes back on but it causes terrible problems with attempting to reconnect. Has anybody had this type of problem before? My dad said he will not spend any money on it. Does anybody know how I could fix this. It is an actual serious problem, when the internet goes out so does the phone system and the alarm system. Could somebody direct me to where I could get help.

2015.12.27 15:26 OvertGiraffe Why is my Brighthouse service awful?

I've been in Orlando for about 5 years. I've had Brighthouse for about 5 years. It has never worked well.
Currently it goes out, about every 10 minutes, through the night. The second I wake up long term I don't have any issues. Thought maybe it was a time of day thing. Nope, it's literally only when I'm asleep.
This wouldn't be an issue except, due to some outside forces at play, I need my Internet to not pull this. I can't sleep through the night without the white noise of people talking to drown out all the other noise. Every 10 minutes it stops. We don't have cable.
I want to say it my Xbox, but it doesn't happen during the day. I want to say it's Hulu, but even if I use the media player I get the same issue.
Why, Brighthouse?
Why, after so many technicians, after a new modem, after moving, will my Internet not stay connected?
Edit: During the day our service is great. Everything moves quickly, barely ever a drop. It's at night that we have issues. Between about 1 am and 10 am it's constantly dropping. Conveniently, we work afternoons/evenings, so 1-10 is usually when we're sleeping. Yay!

2015.12.24 18:31 CrazyPlato Just moved into a house in Winter Park, what ISP should I get?

I've never really had the ability to choose my own ISP before. I've alwys had to use Brighthouse in Orlando, and I'm hoping to find a better option. I'll be sharing the house with a roommate, but as far as I know his internet usage is pretty basic. Personally, I'm looking for a higher bandwidth for gaming and/or Netflix.
Can anyone recommend me a good price and a good company?
