not like im rich myself… my family is still under the poverty line. but we’re frugal and make ends meet for everyone in the family. my girlfriends family is a headache and a half; her dad is a truck driver and will buy 60-70 dollar dinners on the road and blow his money at the casino, but not make repairs to his house with bad wiring and a pipe leak which is causing their power and water bills to be OVER ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS. My girlfriend has not owned a car in over a year because she works a minimum wage job and has to buy groceries for herself and gas and pitch in for bills. We don’t go on dates and if we try to she complains about gas or money. I ask for a drink from a vending machine not even a mile away and she’ll scream at me because she’s that concerned about gas. Well now she has no car because her dads car got repoed (he’s also going to have to file for bankruptcy for the 5th time) and the beater she’s been driving for the past 2 months or so shit out. This is on me but I have no way to see her because my parents don’t trust me to drive my own car at all, and don’t have an interest to teach me to where they’ll be confident enough to let me drive alone. Overall it’s not fun. I love her. But I made a post earlier in a different subreddit about how im just at my last straw. I’m always giving her my money from family and when I have a job just dumping my paycheck on her. I bought her 300 dollar headlights for a truck she ruined the engine of bc she forgot to put oil in it. I just feel so shallow that THIS is what might do me in.
