Stuck in making decisions (Clara Color vs Kindle 11th gen BW or Other BW

2024.05.21 13:45 theexcellentguy Stuck in making decisions (Clara Color vs Kindle 11th gen BW or Other BW

Hi folks Hope you all are having a great day.
I’m new to e-ink e-readers. Now I am in confusion just like most of you.
I really like kobo Clara colour because of the device size and colourful e e-ink display, but also I do not want to compromise the brightness of regular BW e-ink display because normal books and fonts look sharp and crisp on BW screen where the colour e-ink has the darker matte type of finish because of the kaleido filter as you all know.
Now Amazon is selling kindle 11th gen BW (used) for CAD$97.49+tax here where Clara colour is $179.99+tax. with taxes the price difference is nearly 92 bucks (which is the price of another BW kindle)
I’m a university student. So, saving money is always the most preference. (in the long run)
I have a lot of docs and pdf to read as well so I will need to sideload a lot.
I have Libby too so this might help to borrow books but there is an option “send to kindle” which can be used for kindles too.
Now should I get a Clara colour or Kindle 11th gen?
(Used market such as fb marketplace etc. here in my town sucks because people asking CAD$80-90 bucks for older generation of basic kindles with lower storage. So, that’s not a reliable option here.)

  • Full Car Wraps: This comprehensive option covers the entire vehicle, transforming it into a complete branded canvas. It's ideal for maximum brand visibility.
  • Partial Car Wraps: For a more subtle approach, consider partial wraps that cover specific sections like the hood, doors, or trunk. This allows for targeted messaging and cost savings.
  • Spot Wraps: Perfect for highlighting logos, slogans, or contact information, spot wraps target smaller areas like bumpers, windows, or mirrors.
Beyond these, consider options like clear wraps for a subtle protective layer or color-change wraps for a complete aesthetic makeover.

Demystifying Materials: Choosing the Right Vinyl for Your Wrap

The quality and durability of your vinyl car wrap depend on the chosen material. Here are some common options:
  • Monomeric Vinyl: This budget-friendly option is ideal for short-term wraps or vehicles with minimal exposure to the elements.
  • Polymeric Vinyl: Offering superior durability and flexibility compared to monomeric vinyl, polymeric vinyl is perfect for long-term wraps and vehicles exposed to harsh weather conditions.
  • Cast Vinyl: The top-tier choice for high-performance wraps, cast vinyl offers exceptional conformability, making it ideal for wrapping complex curves and contours of a vehicle.
Consult with a professional vinyl wrap installer to determine the best material for your specific needs and budget.

2024.05.21 11:27 Confident-Welcome-74 The Ashlands is anti-player

Okay, here we go. Big rant incoming. This post is going to be extremely long and a bit whiny, but I would only write something like this because I really do love this game, and I am passionate about the decisions that go into game design & player experience. Feel free to skip to the TLDR. Obviously: SPOILERS
I'll start this off by saying that I have like 1000 hours in Valheim and I absolutely love the core aspects of the game. I also like to think of myself as a pretty skilled player compared to the average/target audience. I've done many Valheim playthroughs over the past few years, including a hardcore playthrough through Yagluth with no deaths, and a no-map/compass only playthrough. Even so, while the Ashlands as a biome felt "off" from even before the release, I generally blamed this on "skill issue", and figured progression would ameliorate some of the issues. After doing basically everything there is to do in the biome, I've come to the conclusion that it does not get better: the Ashlands gameplay loop is fundamentally anti-player experience. Here' why:
Mob density and lava is anti-exploration: Valheim, at its core, is an adventure & exploration game. If you take out the exploration, you're left with a resource collection simulator with awkward movement and basic combat. Like the Mistlands before it, the Ashlands presents immediate barriers to exploration. To even set foot into the biome you need top tier gear from the previous biome and an industrial grade multi-biome farm producing all of the best foods and meads.
However, while the Mistlands progression allows you to eventually overcome its barriers to exploration with the introduction of magic and new mechanical items (like the feather cape), the Ashlands never gets any less hostile. There are no lava-immunity boots, no anti-spawning beacons, no nothing. You just get a pretty okay gear upgrade, and a big fuck you. In fact, because of the unrelenting charred hordes, Valkyries, and marathon-running Asksvins, you're actually punished for exploring too far from your steadfast.
The only reasonable way to map the biome is by sprinting in Fenris armor with an Asksvin cape and Moder, which fundamentally destroys the immersion of the exploration anyways. After all this time in the biome, I've explored less than a half of a single of the Ashlands continents in my world. And why should I? What do I even gain from it? This leads me into my next big problem:
The Ashlands is unrewarding: To invest such tremendous effort into a biome there needs to be an equally tremendous reward. Spoiler: there isn't! You can expect to die a LOT in the biome, meaning your hard-earned skills are going to wither away, making you substantially weaker overall. What are you offered in return for this? Not much! The new heavy armor is the standard upgrade, extremely expensive, and generally slow. The Asksvin hide and magic armor sets are definitely not worse than the previous armor sets, but they don't really feel that much better. A couple of the weapons were interesting... but again, not enough to offset the pain.
The Ashlands really doesn't reward players for dealing with all of its bullshit. It's totally isolated, not very visually appealing, hostile from start to finish, and doesn't really introduce or accelerate any of the out-of-biome mechanics like previous biomes do (farming, sailing, new cooking stations, new crafting stations, fall damage negation, etc). By far the most interesting thing you acquire in the Ashlands is a staff that sacrifices half your health to spawn a charred troll, and they aren't even allowed to be on your team!!!
The whole war-zone aesthetic would be tolerable if the biome just didn't take so damn long to finish. Like seriously, because all of the limited visibility and constant mob clearing it's extremely slow to even locate the things you need to do, never-the-less even do them! At this point, I kind of think of the Ashlands as a chore you must complete to progress beyond it. That is fundamentally not a fun thing to do, and I believe the vast majority of players will not make it to the deep north for this exact reason. Which brings me to the biggest problem.
The Ashlands does not understand what makes difficulty fun: According to the devs, the biome is hard. Really hard, actually. They seemed extremely proud of making a biome that would really give the players a true run for their money! Naturally, I was extremely excited! Unfortunately, the Ashlands is not hard because of new strategic or mechanical learning curves, it is hard because it is clumsy.
Flametal mining is contrived and hostile. The pillars are a pain to climb with the game's terrible collision. Have you ever been crushed between the underside of a sinking flametal vein and your basalt bomb platform? 'Cus I have! Even worse, every time I actually whack a Flametal pillar (which by the way, wants to kill me even more than the monsters do) I'm personally inviting every entity in a 10 mile radius to form a mosh pit right below me.
Grapevine harvesting and planting is too slow. They take forever to find, even longer to grow, and cant even be planted in their natural biome without a shield generator? (What's up with that by the way?) I will admit that I love the way they look and depending on where you land you might get lucky and find them early, in which case this point is pretty moot. In my case, I had fully upgraded gear and had already cleared a fortress before I even found my first Vineberry.
Fortress "sieging", as the devs would like to call it, is kind of... useless? The siege weapons are clumsy and ineffective, and are immediately secondary to the brute force method of building a wooden staircase and bombarding the inside with fireballs until everything in it is dead. By the time you even reach a fortress, the relentless mob clearing just to get there has sucked all the fun out of the would-be battle anyway. (By the way, who though that it would be a good idea to make the only unique fortress mob a necromancer that summons even more of the most annoying mob in the entire biome?? Hurray, yet another swarm of reskinned, stat-boosted greydwarves!)
Honestly, I wouldn't even call the biome "hard". I would just call it painful. Things that are hard are generally things you can get better at. I don't think it particularly fits this category.
Lingering questions: While there are many things I like about the biome as a concept, I don't know if there is a single mechanic in the Ashlands that I actually think is well-designed. Now that I'm basically done with the biome, I look back and ask myself a number of questions about things I encountered. Were these really fun? or were they just tedious. I'll let you decide:
TLDR: After finishing the Ashlands I struggle to see why so many design decisions were made that make the biome so relentless, tedious, and anti-exploration. It's like they took all of the experiences and mechanics that people love about the game and replaced them with all of the ones people find painful and annoying. It is extremely disappointing, and will prevent most players from finishing the game, or even the biome itself.

2024.05.21 11:25 Simpilicious Moveset suggestions and inconsistencies in Crystal Legacy: A comprehensive list for discussion

Hi all,
So with the talks about upcoming adjustments to Crystal Legacy in the wake of the Yellow Legacy release I'd figure I would contribute with some of the moves, stats and misc changes I've noticed (and wished for) when playing the game. This is a lot of suggestions from my own personal taste but I have noticed a few inconsistencies as well that I've listed below. Maybe this could be of help to the developers now that they look at changes done in Yellow or as a base of discussion on this forum. Hopefully others can chime in with suggestions or themes that I've missed or argue why the additions below are good/bad.
It is mostly about increasing HM availability to smoothen out the gameplay experience (I love the Cut buffs but no matter what I do I always find myself with a bit of a conundrum when team building fitting a Cut user in. Never really liked wasting a move slot on a 50 BP move). I love how Legacy made it so that more than like 6 Water Pokémon could use Waterfall for example, or that Rock Smash is actually a good move. This is building on that. I've also noticed that there where massive learnset buffs in Gen 3 and I feel like loads of these would work well here without ruining the experience or balance.
Also, the change/addition I would like the most is a MOVE TUTOR for all the Gen 1 TM's. A lot of Pokémon would benefit massively from Substitute, Swords Dance, Explosion, Rock Slide etc etc and it would also make it so that you can skip a lot of complicated and time consuming breeding.
Anyways, here is the list. I've put the change in the middle column so that is a move that I feel would make sense if the Pokémon would learn, or maybe it is a move it did learn a generation or two later but did not in Gen 2.
Pokémon Change Motivation
Aerodactyl HM04 Strength Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Aipom Mega Punch/Dizzy Punch/Comet punch Makes sense to get at least one punch by level-up when the tail is a giant fist and it gets all possible punches by TM.
Alakazam Mind Reader Makes sense thematically even though the move is kinda meh.
Arcanine HM04 Strength Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Ariados HM01 Cut Makes sense with the Fangs doesn't it? Would also buff it's useability in a normal playthrough and benefit a lot from the Cut changes. As mentioned in the comments, Bite would also make a lot of sense with the Fangs.
Azumarill Belly Drum by level-up With that high HP, decent defense and happy smile and big belly it would both be a buff to get it more easily than breeding and kinda make sense.
Corsola HM07 Waterfall Should probably get all the Water-based HMs
Dewgong Megahorn Would maybe help it to differentiate from Lapras? Gets it in Gen 8.
Dewgong HM04 Strength Did learn it in Gen 1 but never again. Maybe add it back?
Dodrio Jump/Double Kick To be synchronized with Yellow legacy it should probably get 1 fighting move (Double Kick, Jump Kick or Hi Jump Kick). Also gets it in later gens.
Dragonite HM01 Cut Learns Fury Cutter but not Cut. Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Dragonite Earthquake Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards. Could see it being extremely strong though.
Dugtrio +10 ATT Got its attack buffed in Yellow Legacy, but perhaps not needed here?
Dunsparce Shadow Ball Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Dunsparce Earthquake Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Espeon Mind Reader Makes sense thematically even though the move is kinda meh.
Espeon Sun Stone evolution Gets Morning Sun as a move. Would make evolution easier. Would be more aligned with other eeveelutions.
Farfetch'd MANY Needs a lot. Maybe get +10 to all stats as in Yellow Legacy or Attack buffed to 90 as in Gen 7. Maybe learn moves such as Wing Attack and Rock Smash? Buff the item held rate of Stick so it is more easily accessible? Move to an earlier route so it can be used early game at least?
Fearow Sky Attack Should probably learn the best flying move by either level-up or breeding.
Flareon HM04 Strength Aligned with learnsets from GEN 4 and onwards
Forretress Earthquake Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Girafarig HM05 Flash Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Golbat HM02 Fly Synched with Yellow Legacy and aligned with learnsets from GEN 4 and onwards
Golduck HM01 Cut Learns Fury Cutter but not Cut.
Golem HM01 Cut Learns Fury Cutter but not Cut.
Granbull Earthquake Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Gyarados Earthquake Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Hitmonchan Earthquake Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards (IMO this doesn't really make sense to me but added it anyways)
Hitmonlee Earthquake Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards (IMO this doesn't really make sense to me but added it anyways)
Hitmontop Earthquake Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards (IMO this doesn't really make sense to me but added it anyways)
Hypno Dream Eater Should really learn Dream Eater as a level up move (it is the Dream Eater Pokémon after all).
Jolteon HM04 Strength Aligned with learnsets from GEN 4 and onwards
Jynx HM05 Flash Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Kabutops Dig Gets Dig as an egg move but not as a TM?
Kangaskhan HM01 Cut Learns Fury Cutter but not Cut. Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Kingler Dig Gets Dig as an egg move but not as a TM?
Lapras Earthquake Gets it in Gen 9 (IMO this doesn't really make sense to me but added it anyways)
Ledian HM04 Strength Aligned with learnsets from GEN 4 and onwards
Lugia HM05 Flash Aligned with learnsets from GEN 4 and onwards and Ho-oh gets it.
Magcargo HM05 Imo it really makes sense that a Pokémon with a flame on it should be able to light a cave.
Magneton Spike Cannon Maybe a stretch but let's pretend the Spikes are Screws? Would give it an extra STAB-move which could be interesting against Rock/Ground types that try to counter it?
Mantine +10 HP Got +20 HP in Gen 7 but +10 ATT in Crystal Legacy. Feel like a +10 HP alongside the attack buff would make it a bit more tempting to use as a special defensive sponge.
Muk HM04 Strength Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Muk Rock Smash Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Murkrow Thief by level-up Being a crow I feel like this makes sense thematically.
Nidoking HM01 Cut Learns Fury Cutter but not Cut. Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Nidoking Megahorn Perhaps very strong but makes sense thematically and aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Nidoqueen HM01 Cut Learns Fury Cutter but not Cut. Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Octillery HM07 Waterfall Should probably get all the Water-based HMs
Persian HM01 Cut Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards and Yellow Legacy changes.
Persian Thief / Fury Cutter / Attack buff (?) Thief makes sense thematically as a level-up move. Maybe should get Fury Cutter too. Great speed but feels kinda lackluster in Attack when the crit-mechanic changed in Gen 2.
Pinsir Earthquake Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Porygon2 Shadow Ball Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Primeape Earthquake Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards (IMO this doesn't really make sense to me but added it anyways)
Qwilfish Shadow Ball Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Rapidash HM04 Strength Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Rapidash Megahorn / Double/Jump Kick Ponyta gets Double Kick but Rapidash should probably too, or a more powerful version. Megahorn would make sense as a late-game power move and it is aligned with later gens.
Rhydon HM01 Cut Learns Fury Cutter but not Cut. Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Rhydon Megahorn Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards and makes sense thematically.
Seel Encounter when surfing in Goldenrod? Like seels outside bigger cities, could be a surf encounter to the west of Goldenrod? Would make it less of a "out of the way"-option than only being in Whirl Islands. A bit more tempting with the Dewgong buffs too.
Slowbro HM01 Cut Learns Fury Cutter but not Cut.
Slowbro HM06 Whirlpool Should probably get all the Water-based HMs (especially since Slowking does)
Slowking HM01 Cut Learns Fury Cutter but not Cut.
Slowking Mind Reader Makes sense thematically even though the move is kinda meh.
Stantler Megahorn/Double Kick/Shadow Ball It gets Megahorn in Gen 4. Double Kick in Gen 4. Shadow Ball in Gen 3. All make perfect sense thematically as well.
Togetic Screens / Softboiled Reflect + Light Screen would greatly improve on it's role as more of a utility/support-Pokémon. Softboiled because it is an egg.
Umbreon Moon Stone evolution Gets Moonlight as a move. Would make evolution easier. Would be more aligned with other eeveelutions.
Vaporeon HM04 Strength Aligned with learnsets from GEN 4 and onwards
Venasaur HM04 Strength Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Venasaur Earthquake Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Venomoth Sleep Powder Venonat get it at 36, but the evolution is at 31. I guess this is intentional but I'd rater see Venomoth get Sleep Powder as well without holding of the evolution.
Weezing HM05 Flash Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Xatu Shadow Ball Aligned with learnsets from GEN 3 and onwards
Yanma Steel Wing / Pursuit / Shadow Ball Gets Steel Wing and Shadow Ball in Gen 3 and Pursuit in Gen 4. Pursuit especially makes a lot of sense as it is a Dragonfly which are excellent hunters and flyers. Would make it slightly more useable as its buffed attack is a bit wasted on its moves.

The Blending of Luo Shen Fu with Modern Design: Exploring the Art and Craftsmanship of the Varmilo Goddess Luo Keyboard
The Goddess Luo keyboard is a unique masterpiece that blends classical Chinese literature with cutting-edge keyboard technology. Drawing inspiration from "Luo Shen Fu(Ode to the Goddess of the Luo River)," a poem composed over 1,800 years ago during China’s turbulent Three Kingdoms era by the poet Cao Zhi(Cao Cao's third son), this keyboard pays homage to Goddess Luo—identified as Zhen Ji, celebrated for her beauty and enigmatic presence. To aid Western consumers in appreciating this deep historical and cultural context, we've integrated symbols and text from the poem, reinterpreted through contemporary technology.

Goddess Luo
Excerpt from Ode to the Goddess of the Luo River
Historical Context and Intrigue
Zhen Ji was historically the daughter-in-law of Yuan Shao, an adversary of Cao Cao(the King of Wei Kingdom), and married Cao Pi(Cao Cao's eldest son), Cao Zhi's brother, after Yuan Shao's defeat. Goddess Luo is one of the most beautiful goddesses in ancient Chinese mythology. Cao Zhi compared Zhen Ji to her to praise Zhen Ji’s beauty and purity. Though "Ode to the Goddess of the Luo River" is Cao Zhi's lyrical tribute to Zhen Ji's beauty, the poet and Zhen Ji were never united, weaving a tale of unrequited love into the poem’s narrative
Keycap Design and Scroll-Style
· Overall Color and Material: Inspired by Jin Dynasty aesthetics of "purity" and "simplicity," the Goddess Luo Keyboard employs a pale aqua reminiscent of light bamboo leaves, symbolizing tranquility and depth, in line with the serene and mystical aura of the Goddess Luo. The keycaps are made from durable PBT material to ensure the longevity of text and designs.
Jin Dynasty: Han Fu
· Scroll-Style: The keyboard is crafted to emulate the form of ancient Chinese scrolls, unfolding from right to left, linearly presenting the story and poetic imagery of "Ode to the Goddess of the Luo River." This layout aligns with traditional Chinese writing and reading directions and allows users to progressively engage with the poem's narrative and aesthetics.

Keycap Details:
· Right Enter Key: Features a mounted scholar symbolizing Cao Zhi's journey and return, linked to the line "Leaving the capital, to return to my fief in the east" expressing the poet's departure from the bustling city back to his roots.
· 2U '0' Key: Depicts distant mountains and rivers, representing the hardships of travel and longing for the distant, associated with "The sun sets in the west, the journey tires the horses," reflecting the weariness of travel and the solitude of dusk.
Keycap Detail 1
· Directional Keys: Embody various natural and poetic themes from the poem.
Keycap Detail 2
· Up Key (Morning Glow): Represents the dawn of a new day and hope, symbolizing Goddess Luo's beauty and vitality akin to the morning sun.
· Down Key (Lotus): The lotus emerging from the water, commonly symbolizing the purity and beauty of women in China, resonates with the noble image of Goddess Luo.
· Left Key (Spring Pine): The pine tree in spring, symbolizing resilience and vitality, reflects the youthful vigor of Goddess Luo.
· Right Key (Autumn Chrysanthemum): The chrysanthemum in autumn, representing noble and solitary beauty, aligns with Goddess Luo's independent and pure character.
· Enter and Shift with Enamel Piece: Correspond to the iconic lines "As elegant like a swan, as graceful as a swimming loong" Here, "loong" refers to the mythical Chinese dragon, distinct from the Western dragon archetype. In Chinese culture, the loong is revered as a symbol of power, strength, and good luck, embodying regality and grace—attributes perfectly mirroring Goddess Luo's portrayed beauty.

Integration of Chinese and English Characters
The letter area combines Chinese and English characters, where each Chinese character originates from "Ode to the Goddess of the Luo River," and their initials correspond to the respective English letters, such as "其" (qí) for "Q". Additionally, these characters are styled in semi-cursive and regular script, popular during the Wei and Jin dynasties. Regular script was the preferred choice for official documents and scholarly works due to its orderly appearance, while semi-cursive was favored in personal correspondence and informal documents for its speed and artistic flair.

To develop a custom WordPress website, plan your site structure and design. Next, install WordPress on your hosting server and choose a suitable theme or create a custom one. Customize the design and functionality using HTML, CSS, and PHP coding as needed. Add content, including pages, posts, and media, to populate your site. Finally, test your site thoroughly across different browsers and devices to ensure it functions correctly before launching it to the public.
What are the initial steps to create a personalized WordPress site?
  1. Define your goals and objectives for the website.
  2. Choose a suitable domain name for your WordPress site.
  3. Select a reliable web hosting provider that meets your needs.
  4. Install WordPress on your hosting server.
  5. Choose a theme that aligns with your brand and design preferences.
  6. Customize the theme settings and appearance to match your desired look and feel.
  7. Create essential pages such as Home, About, Contact, and Services.
  8. Install and configure necessary plugins for added functionality.
  9. Set up user roles and permissions as per your requirements.
  10. Develop a content strategy and plan for creating and organizing your website content.

Step-by-Step Guideline Develop a Custom WordPress Website

Step 1: Choose a Domain Name and Hosting
Your domain name is your website's address on the internet, like www.yoursite.com. Choose a domain name that's easy to remember, relevant to your brand, and not too long. Next, you'll need hosting, which is like renting space on the internet to store your website files. Look for a hosting provider that offers reliable service, good customer support, and enough storage and bandwidth for your needs.
Step 2: Install WordPress
WordPress is a popular platform for building websites because it's easy to use and highly customizable. Many hosting providers offer a one-click WordPress installation, which makes getting started a breeze. Simply log in to your hosting account, find the WordPress installer, and follow the prompts to set up your site. Once WordPress is installed, you can log in to your site's dashboard and start customizing it to your liking.
Step 3: Select a Theme
A WordPress theme determines the overall look and layout of your website. There are thousands of free and premium themes available, so take your time to find one that fits your style and the goals of your site. Look for a theme that's responsive (meaning it looks good on all devices), easy to customize, and well-supported by its developers. Once you've chosen a theme, you can install it on your WordPress site with just a few clicks.
Step 4: Customize Your Theme
Once you've installed your theme, it's time to customize it to make it your own. Most WordPress themes come with built-in customization options that allow you to change things like colors, fonts, and layouts without needing to know any code. Use the theme customizer in your WordPress dashboard to tweak your site's appearance until it looks just the way you want it to. Don't be afraid to experiment until you find the perfect look for your website.
Step 5: Add Content
With your theme customized, it's time to start adding content to your website. Create pages for important information like your Home page, About page, Services page, and Contact page. Use the WordPress editor to add text, images, videos, and other media to your pages. Write clear, engaging copy that tells visitors what your website is about and encourages them to explore further. Remember to proofread your content carefully before publishing to ensure it's free of errors.
Step 6: Install Plugins
WordPress plugins are like apps that add extra features and functionality to your website. There are thousands of plugins available for everything from contact forms to social media integration to search engine optimization. Think about the goals of your website and choose plugins that will help you achieve them. Be selective about the plugins you install, as too many can slow down your site and cause conflicts. Install and activate your chosen plugins from the WordPress plugin directory, then configure them to suit your needs.
Step 7: Optimize for SEO
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving your website's visibility in search engine results. A well-optimized website is more likely to rank higher in search results, driving more traffic to your site. Install an SEO plugin like Yoast SEO or All in One SEO Pack to help you optimize your content for relevant keywords, add meta tags and descriptions, and improve your site's overall SEO performance. Take the time to research keywords relevant to your niche and incorporate them naturally into your content for the best results.
Step 8: Test and Launch
Before you launch your website, it's important to test it thoroughly to ensure everything is working correctly. Check your site on different devices and browsers to make sure it looks good and functions properly. Test all links, forms, and interactive elements to make sure they work as expected. Once you're confident that everything is working as it should, it's time to launch your website and share it with the world. Celebrate your hard work and take pride in your new custom WordPress website!
Step 9: Maintain and Update
Building a website is just the beginning – maintaining it is an ongoing process. Regularly update your content to keep it fresh and relevant, and update your plugins and themes to ensure your site stays secure and performs well. Monitor your site's performance using tools like Google Analytics, and make adjustments as needed to improve usability and user experience. Listen to feedback from your visitors and make changes accordingly to keep your website running smoothly and meeting the needs of your audience.
What do you consider to select hosting and a domain name for your WordPress site?
Firstly, you'll want to choose a hosting provider that offers good speed and reliability. Look for one that has a solid reputation and good customer support in case you run into any issues. Consider your budget too, as hosting costs can vary.
As for the domain name, it's important to choose something that's easy to remember and relevant to your site's content. Avoid using complicated or obscure words that might be hard for people to spell or remember. It's also a good idea to check if your desired domain name is available on social media platforms to maintain consistency across your online presence. Lastly, think about whether you want to use a .com, .net, or other domain extension, keeping in mind what best suits your site's purpose and audience.
How do you evaluate and choose a theme that suits your brand and design preferences?
Firstly, consider your brand identity and the message you want to convey to your audience. Look for a theme that aligns with the style, colors, and overall feel of your brand.
Next, think about the functionality you need. Do you want a theme that's highly customizable or one that's more straightforward? Consider features like layout options, customization options, and compatibility with plugins you might want to use.
It's also important to check the responsiveness of the theme. Make sure it looks good and functions well on various devices, including smartphones and tablets.
Lastly, take some time to browse through different themes and read reviews from other users. This can give you a better idea of what to expect and help you make an informed decision that suits your brand and design preferences.
What essential pages should you create first?
How do you decide which plugins to install?
  1. Identify Needs: Determine the specific functionality you require for your site.
  2. Research: Look for plugins that offer the features you need.
  3. Ratings and Reviews: Check plugin ratings and read user reviews to gauge reliability and performance.
  4. Compatibility: Ensure the plugin is compatible with your WordPress version and other installed plugins.
  5. Active Installations: Choose plugins with a high number of active installations for reliability and community support.
Example:
How do you integrate custom features and functionalities into your WordPress site?
Integrating custom features and functionalities into your WordPress site involves adding extra capabilities beyond what comes with the standard installation. One way to do this is by using plugins. These are like apps for your website, and they can add all sorts of new features, from contact forms to e-commerce shops.
For example, let's say you want to add a feature for visitors to book appointments on your site. You could search for a booking plugin like "Bookly" or "Appointment Booking Calendar." After installing and activating the plugin, you'd typically set it up by following the provided instructions, which might involve configuring settings, creating booking forms, and placing them on your site where you want them to appear.
Another way to integrate custom features is by adding code directly to your site. This could involve writing your own custom functions or modifying existing ones. For instance, if you wanted to add a custom sidebar widget displaying your latest Instagram photos, you might need to write some PHP code to fetch the photos from Instagram's API and display them on your site.
In summary, integrating custom features and functionalities into your WordPress site can be done through plugins or by adding custom code, allowing you to tailor your site to your specific needs and preferences.
How do you manage user roles and permissions?
RoleCapabilitiesHow to Manage AdministratorCan do everything, including managing other users, installing plugins, and changing themes.Go to Users > All Users in the dashboard, find the user, and change their role to Administrator. EditorCan publish and manage posts, including those of other users.Go to Users > Add New, fill in user details, and assign the role of Editor. AuthorCan publish and manage their own posts only.In Users > All Users, select a user and change their role to Author. ContributorCan write and manage their own posts but cannot publish them.Add or edit a user and assign the role of Contributor. SubscriberCan only manage their own profile and read content.Change the user role to Subscriber in the Users section.
What security measures should you implement to protect your custom WordPress website?
To protect your custom WordPress website, you need to implement several security measures. Here are some specific steps:
  1. Install a Security Plugin: Use plugins like Wordfence or Sucuri. They offer features like malware scanning and firewall protection.
  2. Use Strong Passwords: Make sure all users have strong, unique passwords. A good password includes letters, numbers, and symbols.
  3. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): This adds an extra layer of security. Users will need to enter a code from their phone in addition to their password.
  4. Keep WordPress Updated: Always update WordPress to the latest version. Updates fix security vulnerabilities.
  5. Limit Login Attempts: Use a plugin like Limit Login Attempts Reloaded to prevent brute-force attacks.
  6. Change the Default "admin" Username: Don’t use "admin" as your username. Choose something unique to make it harder for hackers to guess.
  7. Use HTTPS: Get an SSL certificate to encrypt data between your website and visitors. Most hosting providers offer this for free.
  8. Backup Your Site Regularly: Use plugins like UpdraftPlus to create regular backups. If your site gets hacked, you can restore it.
How do you ensure responsiveness and mobile-friendliness in a custom WordPress site?
To ensure your custom WordPress site is responsive and mobile-friendly, follow these steps:
  1. Pick a Responsive Theme: Start with a theme known for being responsive, such as Astra or GeneratePress.
  2. Use a Mobile-Friendly Plugin: Install plugins like WP Touch, which help make your site mobile-friendly.
  3. Apply Media Queries: Add CSS media queries to adjust your layout for different screen sizes. For example:
(Css code)@media (max-width: 768px) {
.sidebar { display: none; }
.content { width: 100%; }
}
  1. Flexible Images and Videos: Ensure images and videos resize properly with:
(Css code)img, video { max-width: 100%; height: auto; }
  1. Mobile Menu: Use a plugin like Responsive Menu to create a user-friendly mobile menu.
  2. Optimize for Speed: Compress images using a plugin like Smush and enable caching with a plugin like W3 Total Cache.
  3. Testing: Regularly test your site on different devices and browsers. Tools like Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test and BrowserStack can help.
How do you troubleshoot and debug issues that arise during the development of a custom WordPress site?
Troubleshooting and debugging issues during the development of a custom WordPress site involves several steps. Here are some real-world challenges and specific issues you might encounter:
  1. White Screen of Death (WSOD): This issue often occurs due to PHP errors, plugin conflicts, or exhausted memory limits. Solution: Enable WordPress debugging by adding define('WP_DEBUG', true); to your wp-config.php file to display error messages. Check the error log for specific issues.
  2. Plugin Conflicts: Plugins can conflict with each other or with the theme, causing functionality problems.Solution: Deactivate all plugins and reactivate them one by one to identify the conflicting plugin. Check for updates or consider alternative plugins.
  3. Theme Issues: Custom themes might have coding errors or compatibility issues with WordPress updates. Solution: Use a child theme for customizations to avoid losing changes during updates. Validate your theme code using tools like Theme Check.
  4. Database Errors: Corrupt or misconfigured databases can lead to errors or data loss. Solution: Use phpMyAdmin to check and repair database tables. Ensure regular backups are in place to restore data if needed.
  5. Broken Links and 404 Errors: Incorrect URLs or deleted pages can lead to 404 errors, affecting user experience and SEO. Solution: Use a plugin like Redirection to manage and fix broken links. Regularly check for 404 errors using tools like Google Search Console.
  6. Slow Performance: Poor performance can result from unoptimized images, bulky plugins, or inefficient code. Solution: Optimize images, use caching plugins like W3 Total Cache, and minimize CSS and JavaScript files. Profile your site using tools like Query Monitor to identify slow queries.
  7. JavaScript Errors: JavaScript errors can break site functionality, especially interactive features. Solution: Use the browser’s developer tools (F12) to inspect the console for JavaScript errors. Fix issues by debugging the scripts or checking for library conflicts.
  8. Security Vulnerabilities: Sites can be vulnerable to attacks if not properly secured. Solution: Regularly update WordPress, themes, and plugins. Use security plugins like Wordfence, and implement strong passwords and two-factor authentication.
  9. Responsive Design Issues: Ensuring the site looks good on all devices can be challenging. Solution: Use responsive design techniques and test the site on various devices and screen sizes. Tools like BrowserStack can help simulate different environments.
  10. User Role and Permission Problems: Incorrect configuration of user roles and permissions can lead to security and functionality issues. Solution: Use the User Role Editor plugin to manage and troubleshoot roles and capabilities. Ensure that users have appropriate access levels.
How do you create a seamless user experience (UX) in a custom WordPress site?
To create a seamless user experience (UX) in a custom WordPress site, start by choosing a clean, responsive theme that looks good on all devices. Ensure your site loads quickly by optimizing images and using caching plugins like W3 Total Cache. Simplify navigation with clear menus and breadcrumbs, making it easy for users to find what they need. Use readable fonts and sufficient white space to make content easy to read. Add a search bar so visitors can quickly locate information. Implement intuitive forms with clear labels and error messages. Regularly test your site on different devices and browsers to ensure everything works smoothly. By focusing on these details, you can make your WordPress site user-friendly and enjoyable to navigate.
How do you implement e-commerce functionality in a custom WordPress site?
To implement e-commerce functionality in a custom WordPress site, start by installing a reliable e-commerce plugin like WooCommerce. Set up your store by adding products with detailed descriptions, prices, and images. Configure payment gateways such as PayPal or Stripe to accept online payments securely. Customize the appearance of your store using built-in themes or by modifying CSS styles. Create user-friendly navigation with categories and filters to help customers easily browse products. Implement shopping cart functionality to allow users to add items and proceed to checkout seamlessly. Set up shipping options and rates based on location and weight. Test the entire purchasing process to ensure it works smoothly for users. Regularly update plugins and monitor sales to optimize your e-commerce site for success.
Conclusion
Creating a custom WordPress website involves several key steps. You start by deciding on your site's goals and picking a domain name and hosting provider. Then, you install WordPress, choose a theme, and customize it to match your brand. Next, you add content, like pages and posts, and install plugins for extra features, such as contact forms or SEO optimization. You'll want to make sure your site is responsive and works well on mobile devices. Lastly, you test everything thoroughly before launching your site to ensure it's ready for visitors. And don't forget to keep it updated and secure over time!

2024.05.21 07:06 mallikmallu How to Build a Winning Mobile App for Your Company

How to Build a Winning Mobile App for Your Company
In the ever-evolving digital landscape, a mobile app can be a game-changer for your business. It can enhance customer engagement, streamline operations, and open new revenue streams. However, building a winning mobile app requires careful planning and execution. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to build a successful mobile app for your company, with insights from Dalvkot Infotech, the best mobile app development company in Bangalore.
  1. Define Your Goals and Objectives
Before diving into development, it's crucial to define the purpose of your app. What problems will it solve for your customers? How will it add value to your business? Clear objectives will guide your development process and help you measure success. Whether you aim to improve customer service, increase sales, or boost brand loyalty, having well-defined goals is the first step toward building a successful app.
  1. Research Your Target Audience
Understanding your target audience is key to developing an app that meets their needs and preferences. Conduct market research to gather insights into your potential users’ demographics, behaviors, and pain points. This information will help you create a user-friendly app that resonates with your audience and encourages engagement.
  1. Choose the Right Development Partner
Selecting the right development partner is critical to the success of your mobile app. Dalvkot Infotech, an esteemed app development agency in Whitefield, stands out with its expertise and track record in delivering high-quality mobile apps. With a team of skilled developers and designers, Dalvkot Infotech can turn your vision into reality, ensuring your app meets the highest standards of performance and usability.
  1. Focus on User Experience (UX)
User experience is a decisive factor in the success of your app. An intuitive, easy-to-navigate interface keeps users engaged and encourages them to return. Pay attention to design elements such as layout, colors, and fonts, and ensure the app’s functionality is smooth and responsive. Conduct usability testing to identify and fix any issues that could hinder the user experience.
  1. Select the Right Platform
Deciding whether to build a native app for iOS or Android, or a cross-platform app that works on both, depends on your target audience and budget. Native apps offer better performance and a more tailored user experience, but they require separate development efforts for each platform. Cross-platform apps, on the other hand, allow you to reach a broader audience with a single codebase, saving time and resources. Dalvkot Infotech can help you choose the best approach based on your specific needs and goals.
  1. Integrate Essential Features
The features you integrate into your app should align with your business objectives and enhance user experience. Some essential features include:
  • User Registration and Login:** Simplify the registration process with options like social media login.
  • Push Notifications: Keep users engaged with timely updates and offers.
  • In-App Purchases: Monetize your app by offering premium features or content.
  • Analytics: Track user behavior to gain insights and improve your app.
Dalvkot Infotech’s expertise ensures these features are seamlessly integrated, providing a robust and engaging app experience.
  1. Ensure Security and Compliance
With increasing concerns about data privacy, ensuring your app’s security is paramount. Implement strong encryption, secure authentication, and regular security audits to protect user data. Additionally, ensure your app complies with relevant regulations, such as GDPR for users in the European Union. Dalvkot Infotech prioritizes security, ensuring your app meets all necessary standards and safeguards user information.
  1. Test Thoroughly
Testing is a critical phase in the app development process. Conduct comprehensive testing to identify and fix bugs, ensure compatibility across devices and platforms, and verify that all features work as intended. Both manual and automated testing should be employed to ensure the highest quality. Dalvkot Infotech employs rigorous testing protocols to deliver a flawless app.
  1. Plan for Launch and Marketing
A successful app launch requires a well-thought-out marketing strategy. Utilize social media, email marketing, and other channels to generate buzz and attract users. Consider offering incentives such as discounts or exclusive content to encourage downloads. Additionally, optimize your app store listing with compelling descriptions and screenshots to attract potential users.
  1. Gather Feedback and Iterate
Post-launch, gather feedback from users to identify areas for improvement. Use analytics tools to track app performance and user behavior. Regularly update your app to fix bugs, add new features, and improve performance based on user feedback. Dalvkot Infotech provides ongoing support and maintenance to ensure your app remains relevant and effective.
Conclusion
Building a winning mobile app requires a strategic approach, a focus on user experience, and collaboration with a skilled development partner. As the best mobile app development company in Bangalore, Dalvkot Infotech offers the expertise and dedication needed to turn your app idea into a success. Partner with Dalvkot Infotech, the leading app development agency in Whitefield, and take the first step towards creating an impactful mobile app for your business.

2024.05.21 05:38 funnyoperator Why was Cricinfo better than ESPNCricinfo?

I was going to comment on u/TheOceanWalker post about Women statistics on ESPNCricinfo, but it's become really long, so a new post.
I may be wrong, but let me give a product development perspective.
Features are driven by the revenue it generates. Revenue is probably generated through ads. For a huge product like EspnCricinfo, it must take a lot of money to run the application and website. I would guess the product team to be about 100 people. The OG Cricinfo followers will remember the aesthetics of the website to be terrible, but the content was top class. It was primarily because there were a lot of sports writers working with them full-time, and since ESPN took over, the goal was to make more money, and the full-time writers lost their jobs, and write part time. There's a lot of good content on Cricket monthly, but I would assume they don't get as many clicks.
From the competitor's perspective, companies like Cricbuzz and Cricviz grew exponentially. Cricinfo unfortunately suffered because of their success. Cricbuzz made a great app, and then made a huge jump into Digital commentary using Harsha Bhogle on Youtube, which was a huge success. All the big names want to go there. Cricviz went into the deep analysis category, and hence had major teams as their clients, thus making a lot of money.
What do Cricinfo do?
Unfortunately they do everything, and that is because they are the real OG. They have a great analytics team, they came up with the impact scores for players. They have a win probability. They started the StatsGuru. They have now AskEspnCricinfo. They're all so good.
Cricbuzz has live score. and a great app. Cricinfo has an app. Cricbuzz doesn't even properly show all the teams a player has played for.
The articles on Cricbuzz is crap. Cricbuzz has a great lineup for commentary and analysis, who don't really care much about real analysis. Just basic stats, that Deepu sends them. Not analysis like real strike rate of Virat Kohli. It is all based on the intuition of their guests, like Harsha, Vaughan or Joy (Actually I like Joy). EspnCricinfo is far superior in that regard. Sehwag mentioned in a podcast that he charges around 10k pounds a day for commentary, and he's a regular for Cricbuzz. So Cricbuzz is not interested in paying real analysts or sports writers. Now they have also gotten into the broadcasting business. The regular at Cricinfo commentary is Wasim Jaffer and Mitch McClenaghan. No offense to them, but pretty sure they are not as expensive as a Sehwag or Vaughan.
Cricviz probably has something far greater than StatsGuru and AskCricinfo, and they only give that to their clients directly.
It pains me, but I don't see Cricinfo getting any better in terms of revenue. They will have to give up on certain things to make sure they start making more money.
Writers like Bharat Sundaresan, Jarrod Kimber, Sharda Ugra, etc are now often seen more on Youtube than writing stuff. I follow Jarrod, and his analytics is so far superior to Cricbuzz and Cricinfo, but probably has like 10% of the subscribers and views. Its unfortunate that many of the commentators don't criticize the way Cricket is run by the admins, but they get paid for it, so okay. But these freelance journalists should at least speak up.
There is no real analysis by the analysts on Cricbuzz or The Pavilion or The Grade Cricketer, they're fun, but there analysis is very different from what goes on in the teams really. The difference you'll see when Tom Moody speaks about SRH, Joy about KKR, Eoin Morgan about England cricket, etc. They know what they are talking about. Everyone else is only interested in entertainment analysis and not cricket analysis.
I can go on and on. But let's see if the post is approved, and I'll continue in the comments section. Many users on this subreddit may not even know what OG Cricinfo was like.

2024.05.21 05:29 Original_Exercise968 Bright Ideas for Non-illuminated to Stand Out

While digital signs are currently quite popular, non-illuminated signs can be just as noticeable and effective with the right design choices. On top of this, non-illuminated signage will cost less, you won’t have to fiddle with complicated LED boards, there’s no need for electricity, and there are fewer restrictions governing their installation.
Non-illuminated signs come in many forms, but unlike digital signs, they will not have an internal light source.

Types of Non-Illuminated Signage

Reasons to Use Non-Illuminated Signs

Where Are Non-Illuminated Signs Found or Used?

Since non-illuminated signs are known for being versatile and cost-effective, you will find them used in dozens of ways. The most popular places you will see non-illuminated signage includes:
Really, there is no limit to what you can do with non-illuminated signage. Making effective signage, however, comes down to a few key practices that will be discussed in the following section.

Tips for Making Non-Illuminated Signs Stand Out

1. Consider the Material
Non-illuminated signs can be made from a wide variety of materials depending on the placement and purpose. Here are some of the more popular options to consider.
2. Sign Placement
Consider the height and angle of your sign. Signs should be placed so as to align with customer viewing angles, which are typically around 45 degrees above or below average eye level.
If you’re mounting a sign outdoors, you’ll want to choose a spot that gets plenty of sunlight during the day. Without an interior light source on the sign itself, you will need to consider the available light sources in and around your business. If well-lit areas do not exist around your building, consider adding additional spot lighting for the sign.
3. 3-Dimensional Signs
Creating a sign with dimension will help it pop. Our eyes are drawn to depth and contrast, and a well-designed dimensional signage can be as effective as an illuminated sign.
Dimensional signs are useful on storefronts, as well as any other indoor or outdoor locations. There are many three dimensional options, but the main types include
4. High Contrast
High contrast in sign design is always important, but especially so with non-illuminated signage. Contrasting colors are more likely to be seen at a distance or on a cloudy day. A sign’s readability owes a lot to the contrast of the text color against the background. Choose light or bright colors on a dark background or dark text against a white or light background.
You should also consider the building itself where the sign will hang. It needs to be in contrast with its surroundings. When hanging a storefront sign on a black building, a black or dark-colored sign is never going to be noticed.
5. Font Choice
Choice of font will also affect a sign’s readability, particularly when it comes to non-illuminated signs. You may wish to choose a unique and stylish complicated font to set your business apart, but simple fonts are the easiest to read. A swirly cursive font may not be legible to potential customers walking by.
Quality signage does the job of bringing attention to your business, attracting customers, and sharing helpful information and directions. If you decide to go with non-illuminated signs, keep these tips in mind to make sure your signs shine just as bright as illuminated options.

2024.05.21 04:06 raysiuuuu Hot Take: Hela isn't THE problem, but the power creeping releases

I've been playing since global release, primarily all sort of discard decks, and heavily with Hela in last 6+ months.
Every now and then people raise the notion that Hela is a problem and she has to nerf to ground. I truly love her card and perhaps biased, yet hear me out: the RNG of her ability balance off both the win rate and cube rate.
Blade's ability change back then buffed her slightly, and that was it. Supergaint was a nice inclusion, but not really getting the deck off the mark.
The whole issue is around the fact that all new cards incline to provide premium "Series 5" experience!
Hela is getting more apparent mostly because her ability is like hiding all cards until the last big revelation, and to those haters of her would neglect the entire buildup until "Heyyy why I lose". Her play is telegraphed as hell -- if you look. It's a glass cannon build JUST as Mr Negative, Wong-Panther, Tribunal, or even like the classic Sera.
However, in recent months, because new cards are power creeping, people are getting unhappy the flashy power creeping cards / strategy can't steamroll Hela if not enough attention.
Also, because of the new stat lines: e.g. 3-costs now have 5 power generally, those 4-10, and 5-7 with crazy abilities, all these make Hela a good play no matter what she resurrects. Actually, Magneto has been much more powerful as well, because of the same power creep, whatever he pulls becomes a big swing.
All in all, I do NOT think Leech is any solution. His current ability isn't a big factor for Hela decks, but instead he just makes the entire game less fun. He is purely a big enabler for Blink.
Edit: As a side note, I ran this deck to Infinite this season day 1 at ease. I'm by no means any particular skillful player, I just casually play the game as I love Marvel.
This deck is extremely powerful, not because of Hela, but the randomly generated 6-costs & the ramp/discount. It's the major reason I made this post, as I anecdotally found the power creeping results in a high win & cube rate even I don't need Hela in so many games.
Edit 2: Many of my following comments got downvoted, but I still want a healthy discussion, or even sharing of my own experience. I understand this is a hot take.

2024.05.21 03:58 dusttobones17 A Brief Vent About Cult Ambush

I made seven Cult Ambush rolls in my game tonight. Most of them needed 3+. I passed two. I proceeded to lose the game largely because I just didn't have the bodies to hold objectives in the latter half, because our cheapest GSC infantry are 9ppm for stats barely better than a Guardsman.
I'm using MSU. I'm using almost entirely Battleline units. I'm successfully taking out or tarpitting most of the opponent's army, and certainly all of their heavy hitters. But they can hit me back hard even indirectly, and at nearly necron prices for basic infantry, I just can't hold the board when our Army Rule does barely anything because of sheer bad luck. Because as the faction of plans generations in the making, our core mechanic is winning or losing over a half dozen 50/50 die rolls.
I've played about a dozen games with GSC now. I think I've passed maybe 5 or 6 Cult Ambush rolls, total. Across twice as many games. In over half of my matches, I effectively didn't have an Army Rule at all.
I know our Army Rule is so weak and unpredictable that it has to be mostly ignored when strategizing. I don't count on it. But it would be really nice if it worked.
I understand that, statistically, this is an anomaly. But even with all the dice rolls in 40k, it feels like no other faction is quite so RNG dependent. Plans generations in the making indeed.
They said they aren't giving us a different Army Rule in the Codex. I don't mind that. I like the endless horde trope. I just wish it was even mildly consistent. Make it better by 1 so it's 4+ before modifiers, at least. Even better, make it a currency or something so I can at least always get what I statistically should be getting now. I know GSC has a high skill floor, and I signed up for that, but I signed up for hypertactical guerilla shenanigans, not praying to RNG that I can use my main rules. It's hard to have any hype for the Codex when I know our overall Army Rule is going to continue to be more frustrating than fun.
I really want to stick with the cult, but Emperor is it hard sometimes. Thanks for reading.

2024.05.21 02:24 Shundo_Ray100 Community Days Past Present and Future (2024 update)

Hey guys, this is an updated post mapping all the community days, past, present and future. I've seen you guys referencing last post in todays annoucement, gave me motivation to keep the material up to date! Will update this every 6 months or so. So we always know what is ahead and what is behind!
Comments on the last 6 months: Rowlet and Litten were perfectly predicted. As the pattern holds, starters always are the stars ofcommunity days. Bellsprout got in, I even whished for a fast move! Got my wish, great day. Also bounsweet! Should've had a better move! Chansey is the one that I didn't predict at all. Thought it was too insane to include. Well, got surprised. But my patterns still held pretty nicely. It's a 3 Stage with a Baby. They gave it a suicidal move to help the opponent kill her faster, so all is okay.
We are on the eve of the June/Cd! Everyone thinks it will be Goomy. I bet it's Goomy. Curiosity: of the past 6 years of events, 4 years had Pseudo-legendaries in the June CD (I consider Haxorus a pseudo legendary on this game, nothing will convince me otherwise!). One year had Slaking, who in theory is the strongest non legendary pokemon in the game. In practice, he can't do much with those moves. And in strongest part of the pandemic, we got a June/CD of Weedle. We voted for that... The voting was suuuper biased, but okay!
Will we get the fifth pseudo legend in the june cd this year? We pray so. Till december for the next update!
Part 0 - Introduction
Every month is the same. The community day is the most expected event and we always wildly speculate which mon will the be our hero of the month. Will the next gen starters finally be featured? Cmon, my boy Decidueye needs that Frenzy Plant goodness. Or maybe the next dragon in line to hyped to the moon (looking at you Goomy). Or maybe they will simply give us Pikipek while laughing with at our frustrated faces. Make it awesome, give it something like Astonish! Just Kidding. I wanna try something different today, let’s try to stablish some patters of every past CD and from that, extrapolate to every possible future one! Every single one so far followed some very limited patterns. There was never a legendary CD, never a single evolution CD, never a plain 2 stage family CD (with 50 candy or without alternate forms). I will list every single one, ignoring Classic days and December days.

Part 2 - The Patterns
So there you have it, 6 years and a half worthy of fun with friends and pokémon adventures while you hopefully don’t melt in the blazing midday sun. Or in the insane rain while you try to convince people to check n on campfire. So far we got a few patterns:
1– 3 Stage. The most common pattern, most CDs use this one. A three stage family is the basic form of the CD, evolve the first for 25 candy and the second for 100 (maybe with an item) for a legacy move. 28/72 are these.
2 – 3 Stage Starter. Basically the same as the 3 Stage pattern, but these are guarateed to happen and we know the moves ( the OP ones, Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, Hydro Cannon). So far we got 21/72 of these (6 generations of 3, 2 from Alola and charmander again for some reason). Poplio is next in Line.
3 – 3 Stage Pseudo. The cream of the crop, always the most hyped ones. We got 7/72 so far and every single one had deep impacts on the meta (PVE oand PVP). Wil we get 8 next month?
4 – 3 Stage with baby. The twist is that the middle form is the featured mon and maybe you can get the baby in eggs. 6/72 of these so far.
5– 400 candy 2 stage. Some two stage families do get featured, but they are never simple. This variation had 4/72 events so far. Gotta get a lotta candy for these fellas.
6 – Regional Form 2 Stage. Niantic tried to put these up a couple of time in votes but the community never voted for them. We already got 3/72, so this pattern is in the table.
7 – Eevee. Yeah, eevee is pretty unique. And we got 2/72.
Part 3 - Future CDs
Nowthat we have the patterns properly described, lets map every pokemon family that could fit in to one of those and didn’t already had an event, all the way to Paldea! I will try to be exhaustive as possible, which Niantic will have to be if they want this game to last forever.
1 – Caterpie. 3 Stage. Was up to vote one day. Will probably happen, but we will hate it.
2 – Pidgey. 3 Stage. Even got a GBL day with a legacy move. Will probably happen (please no!).
3 – Rattata. Regional Form 2 Stage. - This is the day the game die.
4– Nidoran F/M. 3 Stage. - Got an a research day already. Maybe will happen with some interesting move.
5– Clefable. 3 Stage with baby. - The charmer that has Meteor Mash. I don’t think it needs more. Had a recent eggs day.
6 – Vulpix. Regional Form 2 Stage. - Niantic gave it the move it would get in the votes, so I doubt.
7 - Jigglypuff. 3 Stage with baby. - This will happen, jiggly is pretty popular.
8- Zubat. 3 Stage. C’mon, don’t do it.
9– Oddish. 3 Stage. 2 evos, could be even be fun with some PVP moves.
10– Digglet. Regional Form 2 Stage. - Nothing would save Dugtrio, this would be a waste.
11– Meowth. Double Regional Form 2 Stage! - A unique case of double regional form. Even had a research day!. This will happen, that Perrserker shiny is still very valuable.
12 – Growlithe. Regional Form 2 Stage. - Can happen, the hisuian form is cool. Arca9 needs some PVE love.
13 – Mankey. 3 Stage. This would be a joke a year ago. But now, with the third stage being that awesome? Make it happen!
14 – Ponyta. Regional Form 2 Stage. - Almost guaranteed, the galarian one is beloved.
15 – Magnemite. 3 Stage. I don’t understand why this didn’t happen yet. Give this thing Thunder Shock and Discharge!
16 – Grimer. Regional Form 2 Stage. - They tried the vote, people prefered Charmander again. Muk is good, he doesn’t need more moves.
17– Voltorb. Regional Form 2 Stage. - The kantonian is lame, but the hisuian has potential. Can happen with the might Choroblast!
18– Horsea. 3 Stage. - Kingdra has potential, just need better moves. We know this will eventually happen.
19– Mr. Mime. 3 Stage with Baby. The baby is regional, they can release it for everyone. Mr Rime needs better moves. Did you pay 8 bucks for one?
20 – Marill. 3 Stage with Baby. The less we mess with “The Azu” the best. Already got a research day and a eggs day.
21– Sneasel. Regional Form 2 Stage. - With the new Hisuian form, this one can rock. Will probably happen and will be awesome.
22– Wurmple 3 Stage. C’mon, no, just no.
23– Lotad. Already got a research day, but a CD is possible. Seedot got one...
24– Whismur. 3 Stage. As lame as this is, Exploud could get some new moves, it has potential.
25– Aron. 3 Stage. The fated one. Aron CD is always next month, hope next month never comes. But sincerely, it could get a new Steel move. For the raiding community that loves him.
26– Wailmer. 400 Candy 2 Stage. - The big one! But not on hype. Wailord could use new moves and the XP will flow (easiest excellent ever!) but the community will hate.
27– Lillipup. 3 Stage. - It’s lame, but okay, could be a filler day with some fun pvp move.
28– Pidove. 3 Stage. With the recent Starly and Fletchling, this could happen. Please, no.
29– Darumaka. Regional Form 2 Stage. Very strong fire type and very strong ice type. Can be a PVE bonanza in a day!
30– Tympole. 3 Stage. Could be a fun one with a strong/efficient water charged move to pair with the Mud Shot. This has never gone wrong before, ever.
31– Sewaddle. 3 Stage. Kinda rare, lot’s of unused potential. Not the coolest. But fun nonetheless.
32 – Venipede. 3 Stage. He is very stylish. Give him some powerfull Poison charged move and we are game.
33 – Sandile. 3 Stage. This will happen, he deserves. Most players don’t even know he is in the game yet!
34 – Yamask. Regional Form 2 Stage. - Could be a future Halloween one. Heard the galarian form owns on pvp.
35 – Zorua. Regional Form 2 Stage. This event, including the hisuian form, would be awesome.
36 – Gothita. 3 Stage. - Yeah, not the worst, not the best.
37– Solosis. 3 Stage. A tankier psychic type. Could be made a force in pvp, given proper moves.
38– Vanillite. 3 Stage. This is 100% happening and I’m 100% hyped. Gotta play this one on the top ice cream parlor in town.
39 – Klink. 3 Stage. Raid exclusive and terrible moves. Should’ve already happened.
40 – Tynamo. 3 Stage. The mon without weaknesses. Give him better moves and we are cool.
41 – Pawniard. 3 Stage. New super strong evo for gen 9. This will happen.
42 – Larvesta. 400 Candy 2 Stage. The rarest pokemon in the game? Most people arealready waiting for the CD. This event will own.
43 – Scatterbug. 3 Stage. An event exploring many forms and the secret ones, could be fun for collectors.
44– Flabebe. 3 Stage. 100% happening. Kicked a lot of butt with this monster on GBL, could be even stronger. Also five different colours!
45 – Honedge. 3 Stage. The GBL killer which isn’t even released yet. This looks like a faraway dream, hope we survive this long.
46 – Popplio. 3 Stage Starter. Will be incredible with Hydro Cannon. People already use Primarina today, imagine after this? The other two starters from Alolan are already in, he is confirmed in 2024. July perhaps?
47 – Pikipek. 3 Stage. I see this happening. Please, don’t.
48– Wimpod. 400 candy 2 stage. Give him decent moves, for Arceus sake!
49– Jangmo-o. 3 Stage Pseudo. This will amazing, make him an even stronger fighter and we are so game.
50 – Grookey. 3 Stage Starter. Only a matter of time. They need to release Galar first btw.
51– Scorbunny. 3 Stage Starter. Only a matter of time.
52 – Sobble. 3 Stage Starter. Only a matter of time.
53– Rookidee. 3 Stage. The first bird that I actually want. Make it a stronger Skarmory!
54 – Blipbug. 3 Stage. Looks cool, people don’t know him. Makes for an exotic event.
55 – Rolycoly. 3 Stage. Can kick all kinds of but on pvp with move and stats. Will be fun.
56– Applin. 400 Candy 2 Stage. That typing is awfull, but could be a fun one with the three (four) evos.
57– Hatterene. 3 Stage. Another waifu full of Charm. Can be a fun one, not that unique.
58 – Impidimp. 3 Stage. Far more interesing with that unique typing. This one will be hype!
59 – Dreepy. 3 Stage Pseudo. A mini Giratina for Master Premier? That’s what myheart desires. Got Hype.
60– Sprigatito. 3 Stage Starter. The gen 9 grass starter, guranteed event. Will be the top grass type.
61– Fuecoco. 3 Stage starter. The gen 9 fire starter, guarateed event.
62– Quaxly. 3 Stage starter. The gen 9 water starter, guaranteed event.
63– Pawmi. 3 Stage. A beloved pikaclone. Hope they take the 25 km requirement for the event.
64– Smoliv. 3 Stage. A 3 stage grass type with more of a support role. Can be a good event.
65– Nacli. 3 Stage. The salt rock pokemon. A better Golem or Gigalith. This is happening.
66– Tinkatink. 3 Stage. By far the most hyped non starter mon in the gen. Make Gigaton Hammer happen!
67– Frigibax. 3 Stage Pseudo. The star of the gen, the pseudo legendary dragon/ice. This will be awesome, no doubt.
So there it is. 6 years and 1 months worth of CDs all the way to gen 9! Some awful ones, some very cool ones. They will absolutely release more until we exhaut this list. New regional forms! Some of these will probably never happen, but they are all on the table! So, what do you think? Did I forgot anyone? Leave a comment!

2024.05.21 02:05 E_Barriick I wish there were passives on the basic skill tree

So I personally really like to make builds that don't use basic skills. I find it fun to solve the resource generation in other ways. The new tempering system makes it even more fun.
It is always a bit of a bummer though to just need to waste two points on nothing.
It would be really nice if there was just some very basic passives on the first part of the tree. My thought was just core stat, armor, or all res. Not a lot but maybe just a few points. This would be useful for AA builds top, since they are often looking for a way to dump points into passives.
Am I being greedy or would others like this too?

[Update] New Age Freedom 70 (NAF) ETF - +2.36%
How's it hangin', McSwangin's?
Today was another beautiful day, at least we hope. We didn't see what the sun looked like today so we're just speculating. Not that the sun is missing! By thy' powers of deduction since there is sunlight pouring through the windows, the Earth has successfully rotated enough on its axis for the side we reside on to finally be facing the sun for about 12-14 hours before it's rotated enough to be facing it's inverse direction; the sun has not exploded. We are alive and that reason alone is reason enough for today to be beautiful.
What happened last Friday? -- Severe storm
Friday, we had to sit through a severe storm that knocked out the power for a couple of days so we weren't able to update you all on the progress of the New Age Freedom 70 (NAF). Everyone is okay and we are safe, none of us were harmed but 3 people in the city did lose their lives – may the live a sex filled after life.
Due to the power outages we were unable to receive position updates until today.
We have some exciting news to share. We are on track to outpace the SPY by nearly 3% monthly. After 1 week the New Age Freedom 70 (NAF) fund boasts the below stats:

What does this chart mean?
The green line is the amount of growth on the underlying capital (blue line). The blue line (underlying capital) serves as our base benchmark or principal capital. In order to succeed, we want to grow the green line beyond the blue line, which would demonstrate the fund is returning capital on capital invested.
We're still waiting for todays market closing data to populate before we can report the next chart.
We aim to provide these at the end of the week every Friday so that you can keep up with the performance of the beta fund. We also launched a Bitcoin ETF for generating monthly income. We'll touch more on that one in another post.

We created a bootstrap "flavors" generator out of feedback from many users. We now made it public and free to use for everyone.
I think I can share it here since it's a free product, you can browse the flavours without even be a user and you can even generate new ones. You only need to sign up (for free anyway) in case you want to save your palette.
We'de love some feedback since soon we will allow users to also customize fonts and other variables.

2024.05.21 01:09 MeasurementWest8568 Echoes of Eternity, a Homebrew D&D 5e Campaign! [Online][$15/session][Mondays][8PM CST][Session 0 TONIGHT]

In a realm where time is fractured, the fabric of reality has been torn asunder by a cataclysmic event. The campaign begins in a world where echoes of different eras coexist, overlapping and intertwining.
The players are thrust into this fractured reality as unwitting adventurers who discover they possess the ability to navigate the temporal rifts. Their quest begins when they are approached by a mysterious figure—a scholar from a distant epoch—who implores them to restore the timeline and mend the shattered continuum.
Their journey will take them across ages and civilizations, from ancient ruins overrun by primordial beasts to futuristic cities ruled by arcane technology. Along the way, they'll encounter factions vying for control over the fractured timeline, ancient guardians tasked with preserving the balance, and temporal anomalies that threaten to unravel reality itself.
As they delve deeper into the mysteries of the fractured timeline, the players will uncover the true cause of the cataclysm and confront the enigmatic forces behind it. Ultimately, they must make a choice: restore the timeline to its original state, allowing history to unfold as it should, or forge a new destiny for the world, free from the constraints of time.
In This Campaign there will be:
Temporal Nexus Points: Scattered across the realm are ancient sites known as Temporal Nexus Points. These locations serve as hubs of temporal energy, allowing the players to traverse between different eras. Each Nexus Point is guarded by powerful guardians or infused with potent magic, requiring the players to solve puzzles or overcome challenges to unlock its full potential.
Temporal Factions: Throughout history, various factions have emerged to exploit the fractured timeline for their own gain. Some seek to preserve the natural order of time, while others seek to rewrite history to suit their desires. The players will encounter these factions as they journey through different eras, forging alliances or facing off against enemies who will stop at nothing to control the timeline.
Temporal Anomalies: As the players travel through time, they'll encounter temporal anomalies—ripples in the fabric of reality that threaten to unravel the timeline further. These anomalies could take the form of paradoxes, alternate timelines bleeding into the present, or distortions that warp the laws of nature. Resolving these anomalies will require clever thinking and careful planning, as well as the players' ability to adapt to ever-changing circumstances.
The Enigmatic Adversary: At the heart of the temporal crisis lies an enigmatic adversary—a being of immense power who seeks to harness the fractured timeline for their own nefarious purposes. Their true identity and motives remain shrouded in mystery, but their influence can be felt across all eras. As the players uncover clues and gather allies, they'll inch closer to confronting this ultimate threat and preventing the unraveling of reality.
Epic Quests and Legendary Artifacts: To restore the timeline, the players will embark on epic quests spanning across time and space. Along the way, they'll discover legendary artifacts imbued with temporal magic—relics from lost civilizations, forgotten by the passage of time. These artifacts will grant the players new abilities, unlock hidden knowledge, and serve as key tools in their quest to mend the fractured continuum.
Moral Dilemmas and Consequences: As the players navigate the complexities of time travel, they'll face moral dilemmas and ethical quandaries that challenge their beliefs and convictions. Should they preserve the timeline at all costs, even if it means sacrificing their own desires? Or should they embrace the chaos of the fractured continuum and forge a new destiny for the world? The choices they make will have far-reaching consequences, shaping the course of history for generations to come.
By weaving together these elements, "Echoes of Eternity" offers players a rich and immersive Dungeons and Dragons campaign experience that transcends the boundaries of time itself. With its blend of epic quests, intricate puzzles, and moral complexity, it promises to be an unforgettable journey through the annals of history.
We will have a Lines and Veils document linked in the Discord.
X, N, & O cards may be messaged or spoken aloud.
We will discuss how the game went and how everyone is feeling about the game so far after every session. I also ask everyone to give a compliment and a critique about the game after every session. This can be about another player's roleplay/charactemechanics, as well as my own DMing style/roleplay/mechanics.
I offer a Virtual Tabletop in Roll20. I do not have ALL the books, but I will share with you what books I do have. Cost of the Campaign goes into purchasing more books, maps, and other resources for the Campaigns I run.
I do character voices, and I am a Rule of Cool DM. Ask me about Homebrew!
Character Creation will happen during our first session, Session 0 in other words.
Characters MUST be created either on DnDBeyond, with the Beyond20 Chrome/Firefox Extension, OR on Roll20 itself with the charactermancer. I can help with any character creation.
Character Rules:
Starting Level is 3.
You may only Multiclass ONCE.
You may start with your Starting equipment, 100 Gold (you may buy things with that gold, ask me about prices), and 2 Common Magical Items.
I'm fine with any Official Races/Classes/Subclasses/Items. Ask me if you would like to incorporate Homebrew.
There will be homebrew Items later on.
For Stat-rolling, I'd like you to use this macro: [[4d6k3r1]] [[4d6k3r1]] [[4d6k3r1]] [[4d6k3r1]] [[4d6k3r1]] [[4d6k3r1]] simply copy and paste this into the roll20 chatbox
