2024.05.20 03:47 Funny-Tension2020 Not sure where to start, want a Honda CB cafe racer
Like the title said, looking to get a cafe racer. This would be my first motorcycle, so a lower cc is probably fine for me. I’m just curious on things I should look out for, the best online resources for finding used ones near me etc… I love the shape of the two I’ve shown here, and the first one looks like a lower cc which is good with me. I’ve been checking out Facebook marketplace but the options are thin in San Diego on there. Budget I’m happy spending around $5,500. Let me know if this is the wrong place to post and I’ll delete, but I appreciate any help I can get! Thank you! submitted by Funny-Tension2020 to CafeRacers [link] [comments]

2024.05.19 14:51 TheWalterWhite_ Getting started
I posted this in the
motorcycles already and would also like some help here. I am a bigger guy at 6' 300lbs and want to get into riding. How many CCs should I start off at? I want to be able to ride on the highway safely and cruise around. I have been looking at buying a 1981 Honda CB 750, a 1980 Kawasaki LTD 650, or a 1984 Kawasaki KZ 550 LTD from people on the FB marketplace (not sure if these count as cafe racer bikes). I know these are bigger bikes for a beginner, but I do not want to start smaller and then have to upgrade. I acknowledge that it could be a safety concern to ride too big of a bike as a beginner. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you!

2024.05.18 12:41 ashiru_1978 NFSUG1 vs NFSUG2 vs NFSMW05 vs NFSCarbon
I am interested in hearing people's opinion about which of those games do they like the most and why.
My first NFS game was Porsche 2000 and I don't remember really liking it, only played it for several months at the internet cafe only because that's what all the other kids were playing, then we played NFS Hot Pursit 2002 briefly because it was the new thing, again did not impress me that much.
But for some reason after I played NFS Underground 1 around the time it came out, I was completely enthralled by that game, it would be all I would think about, and I would spend all my pocket money on the internet cafe to play it and progress my career. It was when I got my first computer in 2005, NFSUG1 came pre-installed and for me it was a dream come true - I could play my favorite game as much as I wanted. At that time I completed the game several times.
My PC had a weak iGPU so it could barely run NFSMW and Carbon did not launch at all, so I could only experience those in internet cafes. I tried NFSUG2, but to me that game always felt like the lesser Underground game. I hear a lot of arguments about the Free Roam and the car customization, the Dyno, but for me the most important aspects were the tracks and the overall gameplay and for some reason UG2 felt like everything was slower and the car controls were more stiff.
I recently reinstalled all 3 - UG2, MW05 and Carbon to see if I can get into them again (I have completed them all, just want to like one for on-and-off Quck Races when I want to unwind and don't have more than 15-30 minutes for gaming).
And after trying all 3, my deductions are the following:
- all 3 in terms of feeling of speed, feel slower than Underground 1, Carbon feels IMO the worst - even top tier, fully upgraded cars feel slower than lowest tear cars with zero upgrades from UG1, like the Honda Civic, Peugeot 206 and so forth
- the tracks in all 3 seem too weird for me to get used to, too many sharp corners that break your speed or cause you to crash until you learn the tracks, in NFSUG1, I can complete at least 50% of the tracks without pressing the break, just let go of accelerate and drive on inertia to take a corner
- the car handling feels super weird, with UG2 the least, because I'm inclined to believe it was build straight on top of UG1, whereas MW and Carbon feel like they were built from scratch
This is my personal bias so it's not facts, I just personally see UG1 as superior in the gameplay/sense of speed, which for me are one of the most pivotal aspects of a racing game. Where UG1 falls short is the city feels kinda dead and lonely, the lack of traffic really becomes apparent when you play the other games, even UG2 feels like it has more traffic and the city feels livelier, even more so in MW05 and Carbon.
I really am trying to get into MW or Carbon, but they honestly feel out of whack for me. What do you think?

2024.05.17 19:41 hirthquake ‘81 Honda CB750 or ‘81 Suzuki GS450
Hey folks, I’m looking at buying my first restoration bike that I want to turn into a cafe racer. I found the two mentioned in the title for about the same price (~$400) and am curious about people’s thoughts/opinions on both. Assuming the same things are right and wrong with both, which would you choose?
A little background, I’m an experienced rider and have a little bit of experience wrenching bikes but want to learn more on a bike that’s not my main. I currently have a 2018 Tiger 800 and want a cafe style bike to mess around on as my secondary.
I like the Honda because of the bigger engine and Honda reliability. I like the Suzuki because I work at my local MSF site and just love riding the little TU125s around. Both seem to be in similarly decent shape, though not running.

2024.05.16 17:26 -Asgrove- Turn signals
Hello just got my first bike 1982 Honda silver wing gl500 and have been doing some modifications, the guy I got it from threw in some after market led turn signals that I’d like to use. I’m not to familiar with wiring, the leds only have a single wire while the front and back on the bike are two or three wire. Do I need to get different ones or is there a way to make it work? Any and all help appreciated

2024.05.15 22:04 jonledcb Honda Trail 125 or CSC SG250 Cafe Racer
Hey everyone,
I plan on getting a motorcycle that I can use to supplement my truck. I would use it to commute about 30 miles total to and from work. It would also be my first motorcycle.
I live in a fairly mountainous area with a lot of hills on the highway. There's a slower side road that parallels the highway all the way to the office that doesn't have as many steep inclines/declines. Highway traffic averages 65-75mph. The parallel side road a averages 40-45mph.
I also would like to take the motorcycle out on the trails and forest roads around here.
I have my eyes on the Honda Trail 125 but the low powetop speed has me worried since it will basically exclude me from safely riding on the highway. The Cafe Racer would allow me to potentially take the highway on top of being more affordable but I don't know about its off-pavement performance.
What are your recommendations? Thanks!
Edit: I am 5'8" ~225 pounds

2024.05.13 22:49 MotoDreams1103V4 My girlfriend made me sell it! Losing that bike was more heartbreaking than our eventual breakup! It was a Suzuki 250.
In 2017 I bought a 2011 Suzuki 250, with less than 2000 miles on it, that some moto-hipster turned into a beautiful café racer! The leather seat was imported from Australia, the handle bars, the pipes, and tank were all replaced, chromed-out, repainted. I was in graduate school at the time and had a sweet scholarship that paid me a $2000/month living stipend. I took that month’s rent/food/utilities monies and bought that motorcycle! I ate Ramen noodles and rice for a month and it was worth it. My plan was to teach my girlfriend how to ride; I picked this motorcycle because of it’s low seat height (she’s 5’3”), because it was practically brand new/barely used, and because it was such a beauty. You’d never know that it was a plain, dorky little Suzuki 250cc!! I gotta give those moto-hipsters some credit, they do have style! Plus, you can’t beat that price! I was smiling all the way home looking in my rearview mirror at that gorgeous bike! Tragically, a few weeks later my girlfriend dropped the bike on her leg while trying to do a U-turn in front of our house and got scared and gave up on motorcycle riding! Forever! That was a tragedy in itself. I mean what motorcyclist doesn’t want their girlfriend to ride alongside them!? Shortly after that she demanded I sell the bike and use the money to pay off my credit card debt! Ugh, boring! To make the sale less painful for myself, I sold the bike to my best friend’s brother who wanted to learn how to ride. At least I’d get to see this bike around and would be able to ride it and perhaps even buy it back off of him later on. Nope! Big mistake! Three months later he was driving home a little drunk after leaving the bar at 2am when a car drifted into his lane. He got scared and overcorrected because he’s a newbie rider, and he drove himself into a light post at 40 mph! The bike hit that pole dead on and was wrecked, and he fortunately only injured 1/2 of his body, but he was also wrecked! He broke his femur and his arm and a bunch of bones in his hand and was laid out for several months. I still grieve this motorcycle to this day and so does he! That crumpled up cafe racer with imported leather seats from Australia sat in his garage for the next 6 years. He had a hard time letting that bike go as well. I’m telling ya, there was something special about that bike. My girlfriend broke up with me last November, just before Thanksgiving holiday, and my first fucking thought was, “I should’ve never sold the bike! Ahhhhhhhh!!” 😂 It wasn’t “why are you breaking up with me? How can I fix this? Don’t leave me! I love you, plz don’t go!!” I totally said those things later on, don’t get me wrong, I was an emotional wreck and a total crybaby about her leaving me! But noooooooo, the first, chest-gripping pang in my heart was for that tiny, chromed-out, moto-hipstered, heartthrob of a bike —the motherfucking Suzuki 250!!! 🤣😆🥹😭😩 I’ve bought and sold so many motorcycles in my life; way cooler bikes, too! I didn’t blink twice when I sold my special edition GSXR 1000 with gold forks and gold accents (I called it my lucky bike because some guy won it in Las Vegas on a slot machine and because I never once got pulled over on that bike even though I frequently topped it out at 182 mph on the rule desert roads of New Mexico). My heart didn’t hurt when I sold my legendary 1992 Honda VFR 750 —the bike that I got into a high-speed motorcycle chase with 11 cop cars no less! you’d think there be some kind of sentimental value attached to that bike! But for some reason that 250 was the one that got away! Hilarious! Has your girlfriend ever made you sell a motorcycle that you still mourn? What was the bike? Any plans to get it back? Motorcycles can be so nostalgic. Some motorcycles carry the dream of the glory days. And as I age into my 40’s, I find myself scrolling through Cycle Trader looking for the one that got away… submitted by MotoDreams1103V4 to motorcycles [link] [comments]

2024.05.09 06:15 Longjumping_Ad_3946 Is 750,000PKR enough for a vacation for two?
Hey Reddit! So, my friend and I are gearing up for a trip to Pakistan in January 2025, and I could use some local insight on budgeting. It's been nine years since I left Islamabad for the US, and this journey is all about creating unforgettable memories with for me and my friend, who's experiencing Pakistan for the first time.
We've mapped out a dream itinerary: starting in Karachi, then onto Lahore, and finally back to Islamabad. Each city gets a week.
Now, onto the nitty-gritty – the budget. We've crunched the numbers and come up with a daily allowance of 27,000 PKR for the two of us. But here's where we could really use help: rental cars. We're looking for something comfortable (think Honda or Toyota, 2017 or newer) to navigate our way around each city. However, finding reliable pricing information for rentals in Pakistan has proven to be a bit of a challenge. Any local insights or recommendations would be a game-changer. And just a heads up, we are staying with family, so we aren’t accounting for accommodations/hotels or flights. Those things are NOT a part of the $750K. The budget in question is for the things listed below.
To break it down, here's what we're budgeting for: 1. Food: Eating out nearly every single day, twice a day at least. 2. Shopping: Desi clothes, ready-made and stitched, to take back to the US. 3. Entertainment: From bowling and movie theaters to visits to spots like Monal, museums, cafes, and more. 4. Small gifts for family members living in Pakistan. 5. Rental cars: Comfortable rides for three weeks, with one in Karachi for a week, and another for Lahore and Islamabad for two weeks.
I get it – throwing around figures like 750,000 PKR might sound excessive, but for us, this trip has been a long time coming and we’ve saved for a long time so we can make the most of it. So, what do you think? Are we on the right track with our budgeting, or should we brace ourselves for a reality check? Your feedback and tips would mean the world to us as we countdown the days to our travels!

2024.05.09 02:52 Simply_Gradual 5w-30 on 10th gen Accord?
I have a 2021 Honda Accord 2.0 with a stage 3 Phearable tune, .20 gap Ruthiuem Spark plugs and PRL intercooler and made the switch over to a higher oil viscosity.
I wanted to see what everyone’s opinion is on the change in oil good or bad. I was reading around and everyone is saying that the 20 oil is because of the CAFE standards and that overseas they’re using 5w-30 just fine. Was this a good decision with such an aggressive tune or should I switch back to 20. Car has been running fine and quieter since change about 1k miles.

I’m picking up a 1981 Honda GL500 Silverwing tomorrow. I listed the pictures of the bike i’m picking up and what the bike I’m basing the end product on. I’ve always loved the Cafe Racer style and have the vision for my build. Right now my idea is 1. New Ignition switch (there is no key right now) 2. Gut the back half of the bike. Taking off the saddlebag, seats, air box and battery. 3. New Seat. 4. Take off H box exhaust. 5. Replace the battery where the H box was to hide it. 6. Add new exhaust. 7. Put in air filter pods to replace air box 8. Change out handlebars 9. Change out odometer If anyone has suggestions on the order or what I might be missing I would greatly appreciate it. submitted by bennyrusso13 to CafeRacers [link] [comments]
