2024.05.21 17:43 BlueFishcake Sexy Steampunk Babes: Chapter Twenty Seven

William was just about to scoop another mouthful of porridge and berries into his mouth when someone scooted into the seat next to him.
“Marline.” He inclined his head before returning to breakfast.
A breakfast that, prior to his teammate’s arrival, had been blissfully free of noise or interruption.
Which made sense given that the ‘rise and shine’ bell wasn’t going to ring for another thirty minutes or so. To that end, the cafeteria was near empty, but for a few servants flitting around the place as they set tables or partook of their own breakfasts.
Breakfasts that were something of a step down from what was normally served at these tables, given that the usual heaped piles of hot sausages, crisp bacon and hearty eggs were still being prepared in the kitchens.
Still, on this occasion, that was fine by William. Sure, the main reason he’d told his team to rise a little earlier than normal was to allow them to dine in peace without being harassed by the rest of the rumour hungry student body, but it was also useful in that it somewhat limited some of his more… difficult teammate’s breakfast options.
“William,” the dark elf hissed as she leaned down. “We have a problem.”
Despite his early morning lethargy, those words managed to send something akin to a shiver up his spine.
“What!? What’s the problem?” he asked as he whirled around, remembering only at the last minute to keep his voice down.
Sure, the cafeteria was relatively empty of both staff and students, but it hadn’t escaped his notice that pretty much all of them had had their eyes on him since he sat down.
“What do you mean, ‘what’s the problem?’” Marline whispered furiously into his ear. “The fucking alchemy lab blew up last night.”
“Oh, that.” She’d gotten him all worked up for nothing. “Someone’s enchantment probably went awry after being kept in storage too long.”
That was a lie and they both knew it. He’d explained to Marline in great detail why trying to gain access to his storage room was a poor idea without him present. To that end, it was obvious that someone had attempted just that.
As such, the old alchemy building was now a smouldering ruin, with dozens of academy guards and at least one member of the palace guard sifting through the rubble when he walked past.
Or at least, they’d been watching over a dozen menial servants as they sifted through the rubble.
Still, no one had been too alarmed by it. It was hardly the first time the building had been destroyed after all.
Alchemy was by its nature a fairly dangerous art.
A form of homeopathic magic that attempted to imbue objects with magical abilities by combining them with conceptually similar items, it tended to both be prohibitively expensive and notoriously unreliable.
Left eyes from forty-year-old salamanders didn’t grow on trees after all. Nor testicles from albino bulls in heat. And that was the kind of specificity one needed to create a half-decent stamina potion.
There was a reason that alchemy was gradually being phased out in favour of the slower but more reliable art of enchanting.
“Yes, very unfortunate,” Marline said through gritted teeth. “But what about ‘our’ ingredients that were being kept in the building. It might be… dangerous of someone stumbled across them in the rubble.”
Dangerous? Gunpower couldn’t explode more than…
“Oh, you’re talking about the gift we were holding for your family?” He realized.
“Yes!”
“Why didn’t you check last night?” he asked.
“...I tend to wear earplugs when I sleep,” Marline admitted reluctantly. “Given… Verity.”
William glanced towards the young woman’s long elven ears and thought about their orcish teammate’s tendency to snore like she was trying to wake the dead. The inner walls of their dorm weren’t particularly thick and Marline’s room was right next to the other girl’s.
Yeah, he could see why she might have invested in some hearing protection.
A decent set of earplugs wouldn’t drown out the noise of the morning bell, but they’d be more than capable of drowning out the distant whumph of an alchemy lab going up on the opposite side of the campus.
He momentarily wondered if the noise had caused any of his other teammates to get up, before dismissing the idea.
Strange noises in the middle of the night were far from unusual in a military academy and usually best ignored unless you had a very good reason to think they might involve you.
“Well, it’s not a problem,” he whispered. “I moved it last night before heading back to the dorm.”
The look of relief on the dark elf’s face was palpable, before it gave way to confusion. “Why?”
He shrugged. “For the same reason I booby-trapped the storage room in the first place. Once it got out that I had a mithril core – and might have had something to do with Al’Hundra’s death, well it seemed like there was a decent chance someone might go snooping around places I might want to hide something.”
And the alchemy lab was just about the first place someone would think of right after their team’s dorm room.
Fortunately for him, there were a few places that were quite impractical for hiding something long-term, but pretty ideal in the short term.
And just so long as Marline’s aunts arrived before next Welday, the mithril core would be safe.
Though as he gazed down at the bowl of porridge in front of him, he found his appetite wasn’t quite what it had been just a few moments ago.
“So where’d you hide it?” Marline asked excitedly, clearly relieved that her family’s future wasn’t currently buried in rubble.
William paused as he considered how to answer that question. Something his teammate was quick to notice.
“William,” she prompted. “Where’s my family’s core?”
He gazed down at his bowl, still thinking.
“William!” she shouted as best she could while still whispering.
“The safest place I could think of. Somewhere it’d be covered completely and no one would voluntarily look.”
“Voluntarily?” Marline said. “Covered?”
Credit where credit was due, no one had ever accused his teammate of being slow on the uptake. At least, where politics wasn’t concerned. So it was that it wasn’t long before he witnessed her expression morph from confusion to horror… to rage.
“You buried my family’s mithril core in the latrines?!” she hissed.
William scratched his chin awkwardly as he avoided her furious gaze. “More like dropped. I didn’t need to bury it because it sank on its own. Which is good given I wasn’t quite sure of the relative buoyancy of mithril in… well… you know.”
In his defence, it had seemed like a good idea at the time. Indeed, if one were to be purely objective about the whole thing, it still was. The core was safely hidden at the bottom of one of the lesser used latrine pits. The bottom mounted… storage vats of which were pulled out and emptied into the bay once a week.
It was a fairly old fashioned system, given the existence of indoor plumbing across the rest of the academy. Indeed, he suspected the latrines were only kept around to serve as a form of punishment duty for any cadets that happened to royally piss off their instructors.
“They’ll be safe there until Welday,” William argued weakly. “At which point your aunts can collect them without anyone being the wiser.”
“Collect them from the latrine’s storage vats!” Marline hissed, slamming her head into the table. “Ancestors, the future of our house is now literally swimming in shit.”
Gingerly, William moved to pat the dark elf on the back. “Ah, but at least it’s safe.”
Once more he glanced away as two silver eyes peeked out angrily from between the girl’s arms.
Needless to say, he was rather glad for the eventual arrival of the rest of their team – even if Bonnlyn chose to complain at length about the fact that she was going to be forced to dine on ‘twigs and berries’ – as opposed to the gut busting pile of vaguely food shaped grease she normally chose to partake of in a morning.
Still, at least Marline had stopped glaring at him by the time they’d all finished eating – escaping just before the first of their fellow cadets piled noisily into the cafeteria.

It was actually rather amusing, that for all that the coming match had obvious implications for the country as a whole, in theory it was simply another practice match between two groups of cadets.
To that end, there was no great ceremony as the members of Team Seven made their way through the double doors leading to the Floats. There, as per usual, stood the members of the opposing team along with an Instructor from a ‘neutral’ house.
Never mind that the great bleachers to each side of the faux-ships were filled with eager spectators when they were normally all-but bare. Or that not one of the viewing orbs bolted to the gantries overhead was bereft of the ambient glow that signified they were in use.
Half the noble houses in the country were likely watching the events that were about to unfold through those crystalline orbs. Though William had to wonder if the Queen was one of them or if she was present in person, simply hidden behind whatever magic she used to render herself and her guards invisible.
Still, as he gazed upon the spectacle around them, William couldn’t help but be reminded of just how impressive a construction the Floats were, the stadium sized building hosting not just the ships that made up the field, but room for spectators, viewing orbs, staff and a myriad other smaller facilities that each worked to allow the practice matches to occur.
With that in mind, one notable absence from the building’s usual occupants was hard to miss.
“Where are all the sailors and marines?” Olzenya asked.
“I don’t know,” William said as they continued walking towards Tala and her team. “Maybe they’re already onboard?”
He doubted it though. He’d have been able to see people moving about inside the great vessels or marching across the deck.
No, something was amiss here.
Still, he’d known there was a possibility of House Blackstone attempting something. And the absence of the Float’s usual staff was likely to be related.
Nothing for it now, he thought. Whatever they’ve done can’t be too overt.
The Principal of the Academy might have been in New Haven’s pocket – which made her an ally of House Blackstone – but even her power had limits with the Crown and half the country watching.
“Ma’am,” William said as he came to a stop before the Instructor from House Summerfield. “Team Seven reporting.”
Instructor Halfin, ironically the woman who’d first introduced his team to the floats glowered at him.
“I don’t like this,” she said without preamble, her voice raised loudly enough that it was clear she was aiming her words not just at him, but Tala and the rest of the world besides. “The Academy and the Floats are supposed to be a training environment for the future leadership of the nation as a whole. Not a pissing ground for idiotic adolescents.”
“I didn’t choose the venue, ma’am.” Even as she spoke, Tala’s gaze stayed on William.
“And I didn’t ask your opinion, cadet.” Halfin’s words were biting as she turned towards the third-year. “The only opinion that matters here is mine. Not yours. Not his. Not your mummy’s. And not the rest of these upjumped cretins.”
Her hand flew out to encompass the veritable circus that were the stands. “So, with that in mind you can believe me when I say that my only concern is getting through this farce as efficiently and as fairly as possible. I don’t give a shit about what’s on the line or who doesn’t want to marry who. All that matters to me is whether or not you have wax or paint on your breastplate or enough harpy-venom in your system to put you down for the count.”
Both Tala’s and William’s eyes widened a little at that.
“Wax, ma’am? Paint?” Tala said.
The older woman grunted. “You heard me, and that’s all I’ll say on the matter. Let it be known I’m not happy about it. Nor about the fact that half the sailors on base have apparently come down with the shits.”
Ah, so that was why the float’s usual crew was missing. Clearly the work of House Blackstone, though to what end William was yet unsure.
Are they trying to delay the match? He thought.
That wouldn’t be ideal for a number of reasons – most of which centred around it giving House Blackstone more time to sabotage him and his team. There’d been a damn good reason he chose to have their match literally a day after he challenged her.
“This has naturally affected my ability to run a normal Float match. Normally that would be grounds for delaying this whole farce,” Halfin continued, tone darkening as she spoke the next few words. “But it has been ‘suggested’ to me by a number of parties that doing so would be impractical. So, we shall instead be making use of one of the scenarios available to us that does not require the use of regular crewmembers.”
She gestured towards the area between the two faux ships, the football field sized stretch of land normally empty but for a few overhead nets designed to catch falling cadets.
That wasn’t the case today. Instead, the area had been filled with a tangled mess of pre-fabricated structures and various other bits of paraphernalia.
“Airship down,” the Instructor said, and after a moment’s observation, William realized that the stretch of land really did look like what you might have seen if an airship crashed into it.
Assuming said airship crashed with enough force to scatter its component parts around rather than remain as a fairly battered single object. Which, given the heights said ships could drop from, wasn’t beyond the realm of possibility.
“Our third year cadets will be familiar with this scenario, but I will explain it briefly for our first years.” Again, there was no mistaking just how unhappy Halfin was with all of this. “In short, an allied or enemy airship has crashed in neutral territory. Both sides of the conflict have dispatched a mage strike team to search the wreckage for the ship’s core so as to deny it to the enemy. Unfortunately, neither side can effectively search said wreckage until the other strike team has been completely eliminated.”
Halfin’s gaze turned towards his team. “To clarify, do not let the flavor text of this scenario fool you. There is no core within the wreckage in this scenario. The only way to win is to completely eliminate the opposing team.”
Over the woman’s shoulder, William didn’t miss the small smile that flitted across his fiancee’s features.
Ah, so that’s her game, he thought.
Oh, he didn’t doubt she would have preferred this whole engagement be delayed so as to allow her more time to stack the deck, but on short notice simply changing the scenario to this still helped her.
Theoretically.
It reduced the number of ‘wild card’ factors that might benefit him or his team. No crew members. No orbs to collect. Just a straight up fight between the two teams.
Sure, said wild cards could have just as easily worked in Tala’s favour, but given the skill disparity between the two groups, it benefited her to reduce the number of random vectors present in the coming fight.
Plus, it also had his team attempting to navigate an unfamiliar scenario.
Well played, he thought.
“Any issue with that, cadets?” Halfin said as she finished her explanation.
“None at all,” William said before the rest of his team could interrupt, noting the small pout of disappointment that flitted across Tala’s face.
She’d probably wanted him to kick up a fuss and force the match to be delayed for the reasons he’d thought of before.
Alas, she wasn’t that lucky.
No, for better or for worse this was happening here and now.
Sure, it wasn’t an ideal scenario, but he could make it work for him. It simply required him to pull out another trick that he’d been hoping to hold onto for just a little while longer.
Amusingly, Halfin also looked a little disappointed. The woman had probably wanted the match delayed on principle. It was clear both his new weapon and Tala’s interference rubbed her the wrong way.
Though as he had the thought, he was pleasantly surprised to see there was at least one woman in the academy who placed her duty as an educator and impartial judge above politics.
Indeed, if she had a reputation for such, that was likely part of the reason why she’d been selected for this match as a compromise between the Crown and the Blackstones.
“Well, if that’s all, then you’ve got ten minutes to check out your weapons and get to your starting positions.” Halfin grunted, before she seemed to remember something. “And I suppose I’ll take possession of the ‘bet’ now.”
There was no missing the disdain in the woman’s voice, which actually made William feel a bit better as he gestured over to Verity.
Unslinging the backpack she’d carried all the way over, the girl still looked more than a little awed as she unveiled the glowing metal orb. It was actually a little amusing, the mixture of relief and reluctance that crossed her features as she handed it over to the Instructor.
An instructor who was apparently not entirely carved from stone, as she somewhat reverently accepted the object.
Even the distant stands hushed down a bit as the bowling ball sized core changed hands.
Of course, it was barely a second before the moment was interrupted.
“Of course you’d have the orc carry it,” Tala grunted, her tone resigned.
Verity flinched back at the words and every other member of his team – including Olzenya leaned forward to argue – but William forestalled them all with a simple raised hand.
“Of course I did,” he said simply. “She’s a valuable member of my team and I trust her. Far more than certain other individuals present.”
A core could also be deceptively heavy despite its ability to produce lighter than air aether and he had no real desire to carry it all the way across campus. It also went unsaid that Verity was best equipped to intercept any… opportunistic thieves.
Indeed, he’d have paid to see some enterprising moron attempt to wrestle the bag holding the core off his orcish teammate on the walk over here.
It hadn’t happened of course, the possibility had always been an outlier at best, but given the stakes it had seemed better to err on the side of caution.
…It had also been amusing to see the myriad emotions that had flashed across the faces of most of the team when he quite casually tossed the bag holding the core to the orc. One would almost think he’d just thrown a baby at her.
Indeed, the only one who’d not been affected had been Marline, who’d just looked quietly resigned.
Which was still fun in its own way.
It was a little childish perhaps coming from a man ‘his age’, but that same age was what gave him the experience to know that sometimes life was about being a little silly and enjoying the small things.
And what better silly fun was there than teasing a bunch of far too serious kids by throwing around a basically indestructible ball of magical space metal?
Of course, given the flash of irritation that shot across Tala’s face, it was clear she thought his smile was an accompaniment to his taunt.
However, before she could say anything, Halfin scooped up the core. “Well, I’ll be holding onto this until the match is over. At which point I shall hand it to whomever I deem to be the victor.” For just a moment, her expression softened. “You can rest assured, both of you, that I shan’t let it out of my sight or off my person for the duration of the match. This I swear – even if I’m irritated at this whole situation.”
William and Tala both nodded, accepting the solemness of the woman’s impromptu oath.
“Alright,” she said, slinging the thing under her arm as she returned to her previous acerbic personality. “You’ve got ten minutes to collect your weapons and be at your designated spots for the beginning of the match. Anyone not in the correct place at the correct time will be considered eliminated for the purposes of this match. Dismissed.”
With her bit said, she strode away, no doubt up to the judges tower - which had an eagle’s eye view of the entire arena.
Leaving two teams of rather combative cadets behind.
Ten minutes was more than enough time to collect their gear, so William allowed himself a few seconds to simply gaze at Tala’s team.
“Finally realizing how outclassed you are, William?” Tala sneered.
It was funny, normally that kind of open disdain was beneath her. Sure, she’d yelled at him before, but to his mind that was more of an expression of frustration than animosity.
Here and now though?
She hated him.
And he revelled in it.
Not because he hated her. He didn’t. Even if they were enemies. At worst he’d say he pitied her for her ignorance and worldview.
Much like him and his otherworldly views, she was a product of her environment.
She wasn’t evil. At least not in an intentional sense. Indeed, by the standards of this world she was actually a good person.
Loyal. Dutiful. Hardworking.
Simply in service to an institution that he abhorred.
With that in mind, the reason why he relished in her disdain was simple.
It meant that he was now worthy of it in her mind. No longer an irritating non-factor that refused to play along, his actions now had consequences.
He’d earned her animosity honestly.
He was a factor. A person.
It felt good.
“Just counting the numbers,” he said. “Some part of me wondered if you might be a team member or two short.”
Indeed, the fact that he’d hoped for the murder of a young man or woman last night was something he counted amongst the least of his sins. There’d be a great many more of those to come.
Still, ignorant of his thoughts, the girl stiffened, all but confirming his suspicions as her mind no doubt turned towards last night’s explosion.
It had been her people who’d tried to raid his alchemy storage room – though it seemed she’d not been so foolish as to send anyone on her team to accomplish the job. In all likelihood the unfortunate fools who’d run afoul of his trap had likely been little more than paid off servants or some other kind of catspaw.
Irrelevant in the scheme of things ultimately and chosen for that very reason. Unfortunate, but hoping that his enemy would be a teammate or two down had ever been a long shot.
“I’ve no idea what you’re talking about,” Tala said. “My teammates are all ready and eager to serve not only me, but to honour their family names as well through that service. Though I know that’s a concept most alien to you.”
Around her, four other members of the girls team stood up a little straight, animosity burning in their gaze as they silently regarded his team with disdain.
Disdain his own team was quite happy to level back – if only out of loyalty to him.
Still, it was funny; Tala was more right than she knew. The values of this world were in many ways alien to him despite having lived here for nearly two decades.
“I suppose you’re right,” he chuckled. “To that end, I’ll see you in the arena.”
He took a moment to enjoy the look of puzzlement on his foe’s face at his placid rejoinder, before he strode away, his team falling in behind him.
Though as he walked, he made sure to turn to each of them. “Make sure to double check all of our equipment. If Tala was able to give half the Float staff food poisoning last night, I wouldn’t put it past her to be able to tamper with our equipment.”
Each of the girls nodded seriously at his words, no doubt leery of discovering a razor blade or some other such implement in one of their boots. Or that their bolt-bow had a faulty intake valve.
Indeed, the only piece of equipment William could theoretically have been sure of was that which he was currently wearing and the spell-bolts that would have been delivered clandestinely at the last minute by either Griffith or a palace guard.
And even then, what the fuck is this about wax and paint rather than rubber? He thought.

2024.05.21 17:03 lostgloves Sneaky Snacking Question

I tried googling this but couldn’t phrase it right to find it in this sub but I’m sure it’s been answered so sorry if it’s an obvious question
But I was wondering how the skill procs work with leaving berry mons to sneaky snack, basically do you still get skill procs if you haven’t picked up any of the berries?
I have been alternating between leaving them completely and seeing if they trigger when I tap and don’t pick up anything and sometimes I will tap them and just get a couple to see if that triggers anything, and sometimes I just wanna clear out a stray ingredient they picked up.
I feel like I have seen some people say that they only tap their berry mons at the end of the day and would like some clarification on the benefits of doing it at the end of the day and not the morning, I usually get the best sneaky snacking numbers overnight.

2024.05.21 04:30 VelocityRaptor22 Anybody else disappointed with the performance of the legendary beasts?

I really, really like the overall design of the legendaries so far. The overall concept of having one as a support for an all-fire, all-electric, or all-water team is just cool and heavily inspires creativity. I think the problem with them is, running a team that synergizes with their skill just isn't worth it, espexially considering their rarity and cost on their own.
With how low they've set raikou and entei's skill proc rate, it seems running 3 good typhlosions will always be better than running a typhlosion, a ninetales, and an entei despite the second team working to synergize with entei pretty well. Additionally, any team that really wants to get the most out of entei's skill is gonna have to suffer in the meal synergy department, as you are really gonna be mainly producing bean sausage, ginger, and herbs which the only meals with over base 5000 power that contain at least 2 of those ingredients are 2 curry options, 1 salad, and a whopping 0 desserts.
Raikou suffers even more since skills mons don't benefit from raikou's skill even close to as much as berry or ingredient mons, and there is only one non-skill electric type in raichu (I'm ignoring the Halloween pika since it's unlikely that many people have a good one for raikou, as well as running preevolutions since running it fully evolved will probably get you far more output than the bonus from the skill). On top of that, electric types rely on having a fast speed to produce power, instead of a strong berry. Their skill triggers a set number of helps, not a set amount of time of production, so raikou is almost never gonna see mainline usage unless someone has one with the most phenomenal stats.
I just feel like with their extreme rarity, high amount of biscuits it takes to catch them, the restriction of only 1 legendary per team, absurd XP curve to level them, and just the title of "legendary", these things shouldn't be so... meh for all that investment. They certainly aren't terrible, but they are nowhere near the hassle to get a good one and invest into it. They should have a much higher skill proc rate. It's a single player non-competitive game with no trading. There is no reason why they can't be at least a little OP.
Tl;DR-the legendary beasts are cool in theory, but in practice, they have such a low skill trigger rate that they are outclassed by easier options like multiple raichus or typhlosions.
EDIT: after reviewing many of the comments this post has gotten, my opinions have changed a little. Maybe the legends shouldn't be even a little OP like I said in this post. Teams shouldn't necessarily be forced to use a legend for meta relevance, although I do think they should be usable. Perhaps, with time, as more options within mono-types arise, they will get a bit more usable from their current state, so maybe they don't need a buff at all. However, their XP curve and difficulty to catch is still atrocious for the value they bring. If they don't receive any kind of buff, they should at the very least take less biscuits so that after these events, players don't have to fish for so many encounters with such a rare and high level spawn requirement. I think 18 or 21 would be more reasonable (I know, this would make it take less than most fully evolved mons, but they are already harder to see than most, if not all, fully evolved mons--adding a high biscuit requirement makes them exponentially more difficult to actually catch). Also, if most options are going to have roughly the same power level, they should all take the same amount of XP to level up, even if in the base games they are legendary or pseudo legendary. If there is no obvious reward for investing more time into a legend, it shouldn't take more time.

2024.05.20 20:35 umpteenthgeneric On the Virtues of Pokeweed

On the Virtues of Pokeweed
Virginia pokeweed gets a bad rap, but one happened to volunteer in the foundation garden the same year the two giant boxwoods were removed -- taking with it, all the shade!
This thing faces due west, so after double-checking that yes, it's native, and will have year-round benefits to wildlife, I let it grow to serve as a shade source. And it has not disappointed!!!
Pic 1: May 3rd
Pic 2: May 20th
It's like that pokeweed knew why it wasn't uprooted, and was ready to prove itself. Jeesh!
The ways it can help the wildlife and pollinators this year, apart from the shade:
  • small native flies and sweat bees that pollinator the flowers
  • Red throated hummingbirds can enjoy the flowers' nectar
  • Giant leopard moths that use it as a host plant
  • Innumerable songbirds and small mammals that will eat its berries!
(And yes, I've already told my neighbor that this plant will probably branch out, and that I will be pruning any part that reaches over into their area! They said I won't need to bother, but they would have a different tune if I wound up letting the berries and bird droppings go wild on their stoop...)

🔗Cirqul 22oz Water Bottle Starter Kit with Flavor Cartridges

https://preview.redd.it/zm6ozw4xgk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fa572ef0b206ab212d131ba8b23df3906d333d89
Sure thing, I recently got my hands on a Cirkul WMT_SKBUNDL_22PB2C 22oz White Stainless Steel Water Bottle Starter Kit, and boy am I glad I did! The concept of this water bottle is genuinely innovative. It comes with this sleek, stainless steel bottle and a blue lid, along with two single pack flavor cartridges – Fruit Punch and Mixed Berry.
The idea here is to make hydration more fun and personalized. The Cirkul Flavor Cartridges are designed to give you zero sugar, zero calories, and zero artificial flavors or colors. But the best part is that each cartridge can flavor the equivalent of six 20oz fully flavored bottled beverages. That's a lot of flavored water without all the sugar!
I loved the Flavor Dial feature. It gives you full control of your delicious flavors; you can dial up or down as per your preference.
While the innovative design did bring some issues, like being slightly difficult to drink from, it was relatively manageable. A few tips and tricks from reviews helped me get around it. For instance, pushing the flap top down under the lip and changing the bottle orientation to have the lip facing you made it easier to drink from.
Also, the craftsmanship and visual appeal of the bottle were quite remarkable. It's well insulated, doesn't leak, and is effortless to clean. The stainless steel material makes it durable and keeps my water icy cold for a long time, which is a huge plus during these scorching summer months!
However, there were a few downsides as well. Some users, including me, found that the flavored cartridges didn't last as long as advertised. It seems like the cartridges need to be set to the lowest setting to last the claimed duration, which isn't ideal if you want strong flavors.
Moreover, the design of the bottle is such that it can't really be used for anything else once the cartridge is empty. This might not be a deal-breaker, but it's worth keeping in mind.
All in all, the Cirkul Starter Kit has helped me increase my water intake significantly. It's affordable, reusable, and offers a fun twist to hydration. Despite some minor flaws, I would definitely recommend it to those looking to make their hydration journey a little more tasty and enjoyable!
Remember, drinking water is essential for good health, and the Cirkul Starter Kit has made that chore so much more enjoyable!

🔗Owala 32 oz. FreeSip Stainless Steel Water Bottle

https://preview.redd.it/2dm4xayxgk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f4d2f30849d810e1999f531407e780c16c76003
I recently purchased the Owala FreeSip Stainless Steel Water Bottle, and I must say, I'm quite impressed. This bottle has made staying hydrated more enjoyable and stylish than ever before. The double-wall vacuum insulation does an excellent job of keeping my beverages cold for hours on end, making it perfect for hot summer days. The stainless steel construction provides durability, ensuring that my bottle will last for years to come.
One feature that I absolutely love is the FreeSip lid, which allows me to easily drink through a built-in straw or chug directly from the bottle – no need to switch lids! The wide mouth opening makes it a breeze to add ice or clean the bottle thoroughly. The leak-proof design means I can confidently toss it in my bag without worrying about any unwanted messes.
However, there are a few cons to consider. First, hot liquids cannot be poured into this bottle, as it is designed specifically for cold beverages. Additionally, while I appreciate the vibrant colors available, some may prefer more neutral shades to match their style. Lastly, the bottle's weight may be a concern for those looking for a lightweight option.
Overall, I highly recommend the Owala FreeSip Stainless Steel Water Bottle to anyone in search of a well-insulated, fashionable, and functional beverage container. It's perfect for daily use, whether at the office, gym, or hiking trails.

🔗Versatile 40 oz. Vacuum Insulated Growler with Spill-Proof Straw Lid

https://preview.redd.it/j51rlr7ygk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0fbc0f9852bef801307b3eafbfa616b9bfbdf933
Imagine you're about to embark on a long road trip. You want to stay hydrated along the way and keep your water ice-cold. The Corkcicle Cruiser is your perfect companion for such voyages.
I recently got my hands on this 40oz behemoth of a straw cup, and it's been my go-to hydration tool ever since. It features a dual-function sip+straw lid that's not only spill-proof but also ensures a hassle-free drinking experience. The comfy soft-grip handle and stay-put silicone bottom make it super comfortable and easy to carry around.
But the real ace up its sleeve? The Corkcicle Cruiser boasts triple-insulated stainless steel, which keeps my drinks cold for hours on end. It's like having your own personal icebox by your side! Whether I'm lounging by the pool, sipping on some refreshments at the office, or cruising down the highway, this cup never disappoints.
However, there's one minor issue - the plastic straw. While it doesn't affect the quality of the cup itself, I wish it were made of metal like the straw in the XL Cold Cup. I feel like it might not hold up as well over time.
All in all, the Corkcicle Cruiser is a game-changer when it comes to staying hydrated in style. Its vibrant colors and sleek design make it a stylish addition to your daily routine. And even though its straw could use an upgrade, it's still a solid choice for anyone looking for a reliable and fashionable way to quench their thirst.

🔗Premium Cherry Fruit Water Cartridge

https://preview.redd.it/4m2bugoygk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f312cfa28a1e74a2d66536e3304d7d2993eb7be6
As a fitness enthusiast, I'm always on the lookout for ways to keep myself hydrated and energized. That's why when I came across Cirkul's Fitsip White Cherry Water Flavor Cartridge, I had to give it a try.
I must say, the first thing that stood out to me was how easy it was to use. With just a twist of the dial, I could adjust the flavor intensity to my liking. This feature not only allowed me to control the taste of my water but also helped me consume more water throughout the day.
The flavor itself is a perfect blend of fruity and refreshing. It's subtle enough that it doesn't overpower my palate but still manages to give my water that extra kick that keeps me wanting more. And the best part? No artificial flavors, zero calories, and zero sugar!
However, one downside I noticed was the cartridge's capacity. While it's designed to flavor the equivalent of six 20-ounce bottles, I found myself needing to refill it more often than I would have liked.
All in all, Cirkul's Fitsip White Cherry Water Flavor Cartridge is a game-changer for anyone looking for a convenient and delicious way to stay hydrated during their daily activities. Its adjustable flavor control and satisfying taste make it a must-have addition to any active lifestyle. But be prepared to refill it more frequently than you might expect.

🔗Corkcicle 20oz Garden Party Canteen

https://preview.redd.it/6gjkia4zgk1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7da8c644bff79927624331a8e27ccb2a1a52e537
The Corkcicle Sport Canteen is a must-have for all outdoor enthusiasts and party-goers. Living in Florida, where temperatures can soar, Corkcicle's collaboration with Rifle Paper Co. resulted in a colorful collection that truly delights. This 20oz canteen not only keeps your beverages ice cold for up to 25 hours, but also hot for up to 12 hours - perfect for those long nature hikes or late-night parties.
One of the features that genuinely impressed me was the wide mouth, which lets you store large ice cubes, making your drink extra chilly. Plus, the leak-proof straw cap ensures that no drop is wasted, even when you're on the go. My favorite part is the loop on the cap, which allows me to attach it to my backpack or belt loop, ensuring my hands are free for other tasks. The silicone bottom adds an extra layer of stability, preventing unwanted spills.
Although it has an insulation rating that's hard to beat, the Corkcicle Sport Canteen is not without its flaws. One con that's worth mentioning is that the lid can sometimes be challenging to remove, especially after filling it up to the brim. Furthermore, some users have reported that the design tends to scratch easily, potentially affecting the bottle's visual appeal.
In conclusion, the Corkcicle Sport Canteen is a stylish and practical companion that keeps your beverages at the perfect temperature. While it's not perfect, the pros certainly outweigh the cons, making it a solid choice for anyone in search of a reliable water bottle.

The electrolyte and flavor cartridges included with Cirkul water bottles are designed to offer up to 40 servings of flavored water. The actual number of servings may vary depending on personal preference and usage, but a 16 oz bottle should last around a month with daily use. I recently had the pleasure of adding the Kyocera Revolution 5.5" Ceramic Santoku Knife in a stunning blue hue to my kitchen arsenal, and it has completely changed the game for me. The first thing I noticed was how perfectly balanced it felt in my hand, making it easy to maneuver and reducing fatigue during those endless chopping sessions.
One of the features that truly stood out to me was the ceramic blade, which reportedly stays sharp 10 times longer than steel blades. I've certainly noticed a difference – not only in the effortless slicing, dicing, and mincing of fruits and vegetables, but also in the seamless transition from chopping meats to finely chopping herbs.
The ergonomic handle offers a comfortable grip, adding to the overall ease of use, and the vivid color options provide a visual appeal that makes it stand out amongst my other kitchen tools. There's no denying that the Kyocera Revolution 5.5" Ceramic Santoku Knife is more than just a kitchen tool – it's an essential and beautiful addition to my daily culinary routine.

I've had the pleasure of using Kyocera's Ceramic Outdoor Camp Kitchen Knife and Sheath Set, and let me tell you, it has been quite the experience. The knife is perfect for my outdoor adventures, as it's durable, rust-proof, and resistant to germs and acids.
One of the most impressive features of this knife is its ultra-sharp, pure advanced ceramic blade. It's incredibly lightweight and easy to clean, which is exactly what I need when I'm out in the wild. And the ergonomic soft grip handle? It provides a comfortable, highly controlled grip, making it a pleasure to use.
The heavy nylon sheath with the Velcro strap is a nice addition, too. It keeps the knife safe and secure, and the belt loop makes it easy for me to access it whenever I need it. The fact that this product is made from Kyocera's proprietary zirconia material is an extra bonus, as it guarantees exceptional quality and beauty.
While this knife is ideal for camping, fishing, hiking, and picnics, I would avoid using it on hard foods or objects. But overall, I've been really happy with this set and would definitely recommend it to those who love spending time in the great outdoors.

While I'm a big fan of this pocket knife, there were a couple of drawbacks. The first thing I noticed was how easily the blade would snap shut. It happened a few times when I accidentally pressed it against something hard. Furthermore, the fact that it's made in China makes me a bit skeptical about its long-term durability.
Overall, the SHOCFR Shomer-Tec Ceramic Folding Razor Knife was a handy tool to have with me. Its compact size and sharp blade made it perfect for everyday use. However, its low-quality materials and tendency to snap shut may be a deal-breaker for some potential buyers.

I recently started using the Rapala Ceramic Utility Knife, and let me tell you, it's impressive. The blade is incredibly sharp right out of the box - twice as sharp as a steel blade, as advertised! And not only that, it stays sharp for much longer, thanks to its fantastic edge retention - 15 times better than steel.
As someone who frequently spends time outdoors, I love the lightweight and non-porous construction; it doesn't rust or corrode. Plus, the handle is a game-changer. The molded soft-grip design feels comfortable in my hand, even during long fishing trips.
The Open-Design Compression Sheath is a thoughtful addition too, ensuring safe storage and transport. The only downside I've noticed so far is that, while the knife itself is fantastic, the sheath that comes with it could use some improvement. Thankfully, it hasn't been a dealbreaker for me.
Overall, I highly recommend this Rapala Ceramic Utility Knife. Its features make it an excellent choice for cutting chores and fishing trips alike.

The Kyocera Revolution 4.5" Ceramic Utility Knife is a game-changer for those seeking precision in the kitchen. With a ceramic blade that's 50% harder than metal and 10 times sharper than average knives, this knife makes quick work of slicing through fruits, veggies, and boneless meats.
The slip-resistant, ergonomic handle is comfortable and reduces fatigue during extended cutting tasks. Best of all, the ceramic blade doesn't absorb food elements, requiring only a quick rinse for easy cleanup.
This knife truly earns its place in any kitchen, becoming a trusted go-to tool for home cooks and seasoned chefs alike.

🔗Premium Ceramic Utility Knife with Pakka Wood Handle

https://preview.redd.it/nih4f22qli1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=75b65cf7f2b77fd9d9164f8799da05551b7f6568
As someone who's tried the Kyocera LTD Ceramic Utility Knife, I can say it's a game-changer in the world of cutting tools. When you finally hold this ceramic beauty in your hand, you can't help but admire its sleek, hand-crafted pakka wood handle and the exquisite blade it comes with.
During my daily food prep, I found this knife to be incredibly versatile, cutting through fruits, vegetables, and boneless meats like butter. The ceramic blade really does last significantly longer than steel blades and stays sharp for ages. Plus, it prevents any metallic taste or unwanted reactions with my food.
The pakkawood handle fits perfectly in my hand, making cuts effortless and ergonomic. The knife is surprisingly lightweight compared to steel models, reducing strain during long cutting activities. However, it's always wise to avoid hard surfaces like marble when using the knife.
It's important to remember to hand wash it after use and to keep it away from the dishwasher. Overall, the Kyocera LTD Ceramic Utility Knife has easily become a go-to tool in my kitchen, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable, long-lasting cutting utensil.

🔗Lightweight and Durable Ceramic Pocket Knife for Comfortable Cutting

I recently tried the Kyocera Revolution Ceramic Utility Knife Red, and I must say, it's a game-changer in the kitchen. While the box only contains one item, the knife itself is an impressive piece of engineering. The ergonomics are top-notch, with a comfortable grip that makes the slicing process more controlled and enjoyable.
One key feature that stood out to me is the blade's incredible edge retention. It retains its sharpness ten times longer than steel knives, which is a massive plus for anyone who values the lasting quality of their tools. Moreover, I appreciate how the ceramic material provides a pure and healthy alternative to steel knives, as it doesn't transfer metal ions to food or corrode due to acids or oils. It also never rusts, which is a great bonus.
The Kyocera knife is incredibly lightweight, reducing fatigue when in use, especially during long cutting tasks. While the blade may be half the weight of an equivalent steel knife, it feels like an extension of your hand.
However, there's one downside to this knife—handle with care. The ceramic blade is prone to chipping if not handled correctly. Also, it might be a bit delicate to use for cutting large items or anything that requires a lot of force.
Overall, the Kyocera Revolution Ceramic Utility Knife Red is a well-made, easy-to-use tool that boasts impressive edge retention, a comfortable grip, and a visually appealing design. It's a worthy addition to any kitchen, and I can't wait to showcase its capabilities to my friends and family.

🔗Premium Ceramic Paring and Santoku Knife Set

https://preview.redd.it/jrmw75brli1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c5160d217ea13119cf90d1c61344d551e857e79a
Last week, I decided to try out Kyocera's ceramic knife set for a weekend of cooking and entertaining. I was immediately drawn to the sleek and elegant design of the dual ABS handles in black. The contrast against the gleaming ceramic blades made this set stand out in my utensil drawer. As I pulled them out for the first time, I couldn't help but feel a mixture of excitement and apprehension. How would these knives perform compared to my trusty stainless steel counterparts?
The next step was putting these knives through their paces. I used the Santoku knife to slice through fresh fruits and vegetables, and the smaller paring knife proved invaluable when it came to peeling and seeding the berries and cucumbers. I was thrilled to discover that their razor-sharp edge made chopping and mincing effortless, and it held up remarkably well when I tested it on harder produce.
One of the most notable features of these knives is their exceptional sharpness and long-lasting edge retention. In fact, I found myself reaching for these ceramic knives more often than my usual set over the weekend. Their lightweight design also made tasks like stirring soups and cutting meats a lot easier on my hands.
However, there was a minor downside that I encountered during the weekend. While these knives are remarkably sturdy, I did manage to chip one of the blades accidently when I used the Santoku for deboning a whole chicken. While this wasn't a deal-breaker for me, I realized that it could be a concern for users who might be more sensitive to such issues in their kitchenware.
Overall, this Kyocera ceramic knife set has become an essential component of my cooking routine. Though some may view the brand's design as somewhat understated, the practicality and exceptional sharpness more than compensate. If you're looking to elevate your culinary experiences, I can't recommend these knives enough. Just remember, they're sharper than they look!

🔗Farberware ColorWorks 5-Inch Ceramic Utility Knife - Red

https://preview.redd.it/lhn2qpsrli1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2e3e72c47bb36de3b14307e047a6523ac0c50343
As someone who's used this Farberware Ceramic Utility Knife in my daily life, I can attest to its vibrant red handle and its practicality in the kitchen. The ceramic blade is a game-changer, proving itself to be more durable than stainless steel and maintaining its razor-sharpness for much longer. The ergonomic handle, made from a soft touch material, is comfortable in hand during long cutting sessions.
I'd like to mention that the blade cover ensures safe storage, a feature that's often overlooked but truly appreciated. One downside, however, is that this knife, while lovely, is not suitable for all cutting tasks, such as frozen foods or hard cheeses, and requires careful handling when cleaning or storing. Overall, it's a colorful, functional addition to any kitchen.

🔗Ergonomic Ceramic Folding Knife for Effortless Cutting

https://preview.redd.it/ubzuu33sli1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d68c7daedcf6cad0e8aae9f4ee125ebf5d939c49
I've been using this Ceramic Knife with the soft red handle for a while now, and the first thing that stood out to me was how effortlessly it cuts through fruits and veggies. The ceramic blade is seriously sharp and stays that way for an impressive amount of time, which is a game-changer compared to traditional metal knives.
The handle feels incredible in my hand - it's lightweight, ergonomically designed, and provides a perfect balance for a comfortable cutting experience. I also appreciate the added safety feature of the knife coming with a protective sheath.
On the downside, while the ceramic blade is stainless, odorless, and won't rust or corrode, the protective sheath might not stay on as securely as I'd like it to. But overall, this knife has made my daily cutting tasks so much easier and more enjoyable. Plus, it's a great addition to anyone's kitchen who wants to promote healthy living.

Buyer's Guide

A ceramic folding knife is a versatile and practical tool for any outdoor enthusiast or kitchen chef. These knives offer a combination of durability, sharpness, and portability that makes them a great addition to your collection. In this buyer's guide, we will discuss the essential features to consider when purchasing a ceramic folding knife and provide general advice to help you make an informed decision.

Material

https://preview.redd.it/x438flrvli1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=777be7dc208d0b0fde4c939b6d5544b49ccd13c1
Ceramic is a popular material for folding knives due to its hardness, sharpness, and resistance to corrosion. Look for a ceramic blade that is made from high-quality zirconium oxide, which is known for its durability and edge retention. The handle can be made of various materials like stainless steel, G10, or titanium-carbon, so choose one that is comfortable to hold and offers a good grip.

Blade Shape and Size

Ceramic folding knives come in various blade shapes and sizes, such as drop-point, clip-point, spear-point, and more. Choose a shape that suits your purposes, whether it's for slicing, piercing, or chopping. The size of the blade also matters; larger blades are better for heavy-duty tasks, while smaller ones are more suitable for everyday use and portability.

Locking Mechanism

A secure locking mechanism is crucial for the safety and functionality of a folding knife. Look for a knife with a reliable locking system, such as liner locks, frame locks, or locking bolts. Ensure the locking mechanism is easy to use, yet strong enough to prevent the blade from accidentally opening or closing while in use.

https://preview.redd.it/4fu0ji7wli1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=458511a6afe4555387b7603026f14341fcf58a2c

Maintenance

Proper maintenance is essential to prolong the life of your ceramic folding knife. Regularly clean the blade and handle, and apply a blade protector to prevent oxidation. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as they can damage the ceramic and handles. Store your knife in a protective sheath or case to keep it safe when not in use.

Additional Features

Consider additional features that can enhance your overall experience with a ceramic folding knife. Some options include blade designs with an serrated or partially serrated edge for greater versatility, a pocket clip for easy carrying, or a built-in belt loop for added convenience. Research various models to find a knife that best suits your specific needs and preferences.

Durability and Warranty

https://preview.redd.it/kic2j2mwli1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e209900bb586d8a8ab3b26201d1a1774e38af0f3
Durability is a vital factor when selecting a ceramic folding knife. Look for a knife with a track record of long-lasting performance and solid construction. A reputable brand typically offers a warranty to ensure customer satisfaction, so consider a brand's warranty terms and customer support before making your purchase.

Budget

Determine your budget before shopping for a ceramic folding knife. High-quality knives can be quite expensive, but they may offer better value in the long run with their durability and performance. Consider the features and brand reputation when setting your budget to ensure you get the best knife for your money.
A ceramic folding knife is an excellent investment for anyone who values durability, sharpness, and versatility in their cutting tools. By considering the features and aspects outlined in this buyer's guide, you can find a ceramic folding knife that suits your needs and preferences, ensuring you make a purchase that is both practical and long-lasting.

🔗Organize your CDs with style - Snap-N-Store CD Storage Box

https://preview.redd.it/qwndx28vci1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f3f4c8527fe71bac1d1b37cc6612080ef784ea4
I recently tried out the Snap-N-Store CD Storage Box for my music collection, and I must say it exceeded my expectations. The sturdy industrial snaps made it a breeze to assemble and secured it perfectly for long-term use. The card holder was a great addition, as it allowed me to easily label each section with the name of the music artist.
The leather-like PVC laminate exterior gave it a sophisticated, stylish appearance, complementing any room decor. However, one minor drawback was that the boxes slightly overlapped when placed next to each other, creating a stacking issue. Overall, I'm happy with this product and highly recommend it for anyone looking for an organized, attractive solution to managing their CD collection.

🔗Double-Wide CD/DVD Storage Box for Organized Media

https://preview.redd.it/4vgbdpfvci1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=31060decac43d1c40d1fe243579bc2ce465ee10d
The Snap-N-Store storage box in the eye-catching Berry color is a fantastic addition to any home or office for organizing your music and movies. I love how sturdy it is - the reinforced corners and heavy-duty panels with industrial-sized snaps really hold everything in place. It's such a simple yet effective solution for keeping CDs and DVDs neat and tidy.
The box can hold up to 60 full jewel cases, 120 slim cases, or 330 CDs/DVDs in sleeves. The chrome card holder on the front is a nice touch for easy labeling. And, with 50% post-consumer recycled content, there's a positive environmental impact to boot.
However, one thing that bugged me was that the center divider is slightly slanted or crooked, making it difficult to hold two rows of CDs properly. Despite this minor flaw, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. Overall, a great find that I can highly recommend for those looking to keep their music and movies organized.

🔗Clear CD Storage Tote with Movable Dividers

https://preview.redd.it/5bly8bvvci1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4fe96f31d88986a3127caa4d4e7b075c2c6197dd
I recently needed a reliable storage solution for my extensive music collection and stumbled upon the Iris Large Media Storage Box. I was thrilled to see that it could accommodate up to 120 CDs, giving me ample space to organize my favorite tunes. The tote's clear design allowed me to easily identify the contents without needing to open it, which was a game-changer for my music storage needs.
One of the standout features was the snap-tight lid, which kept my precious CDs secure and protected from dust and potential damage. The clear lid and body were also perfect for quick identification, while the movable dividers made it simple to customize the container box to fit my storage preferences.
However, I did encounter a minor inconvenience when trying to organize the CDs. The plastic sleeves were challenging to remove without causing scratches on the disc itself. This required extra care and attention during the organization process.
Overall, the Iris Large Media Storage Box has been a fantastic addition to my music storage routine. Its sleek design, ample space, and protective features make it a top choice for anyone looking to keep their CDs organized and secure.

🔗Birchwood CD Storage Cabinet with Vintage Details

I recently had the chance to try out this beautiful media storage cabinet in my own home, and I must say I'm quite impressed. The walnut finish adds a touch of warmth and elegance, while the library-style drawers remind you of a bygone era.
One of the things that stood out to me was the sturdy construction. The 24 deep drawers hold 19 discs each, which is perfect for my CD collection. The assembly-free delivery was a bonus too—no need to spend hours piecing it together myself.
However, the finger pull hardware on the drawers could have been better. While the label slots are a nice touch, some of the hardware felt a bit flimsy. I also noticed that the slides in a few drawers didn't seem as smooth as I would have liked.
All in all, this storage cabinet is a great addition to my home. It looks fantastic, keeps my discs dust-free, and offers plenty of room for my growing collection. The minor issues with the hardware and slides were easy to overlook considering the benefits.

🔗Versatile CD Storage Box Set for Optimal Organization

I recently came across this amazing CD Storage Box set of 3, and I must say, it's been a game-changer for me. I used to have a mess of CDs scattered all over the place, but this set solved my storage woes in a jiffy. The large capacity is seriously impressive - it can hold up to 165 discs! The non-woven fabric material is sturdy and durable, making it the perfect long-term storage solution for my CDs.
One of the best features of this set is the lidded design that keeps my discs away from dust. It's also collapseable, which is great because it saves space when I'm not using it. And the best part? It's not just limited to storing CDs – I've found it to be a versatile organizer for all sorts of things, from books to passports to toys.
Of course, no product is perfect. I wish the handles were a bit stronger, but overall, this CD Storage Box set has been a lifesaver for my ever-growing CD collection. If you're in the market for a reliable and spacious storage solution, give this set a try – I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Embracing the world of technology and organization, I found myself in need of a reliable and sturdy disc storage solution for my growing collection of CDs and DVDs. Enter the Hongwa CD/DVD Hard Case, a sleek and shiny addition to my media room.
Setting up the hard case was a breeze; its quarter round shape and robust aluminum construct make it a solid and durable storage solution. I was particularly impressed with the chrome metal corner and extra strip reinforcements, ensuring that my discs remained safe and secure. The case came with two hinges and two chrome locks, providing a secure and stylish enclosure for my treasured media.
As I filled the Hongwa Hard Case with my vast collection of CDs and DVDs, I marveled at the spaciousness it offered. The ability to store up to 1000 discs made me wonder how I had ever managed without it. The sleek aluminum exterior not only looked fantastic, but it also provided my discs with an extra layer of protection, keeping them free from scratches and fingerprints.
Despite its impressive features, the Hongwa CD/DVD Hard Case did have a couple of downsides. The price point might be a bit higher than some competing products, but when compared to their durability and capacity, it was well worth the investment. Shipping times were also a little longer than I would have preferred, but considering the care and attention to detail invested in the product, I was willing to be patient.
In conclusion, the Hongwa CD/DVD Hard Case is an excellent addition to any media enthusiast's setup, offering a stylish and sturdy solution for disc storage. While there might be a few minor issues with the shipping times and price point, the overall quality and functionality of the case far outweigh these shortcomings, making it a worthy investment for anyone looking to organize and protect their valuable media collection.

🔗Organize Your CDs with Style: Snap-N-Store CD Storage Box Set (Set of 2, Black)

Set up was a breeze - just snap the sides together and your music organizer is ready to use. The sturdy construction and reinforced corners made these CD boxes a reliable choice, and the chrome card holder on the front was a convenient touch for labeling different genres.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks that I noticed. Firstly, the snaps on some of the boxes didn't seem as tight as I would have preferred, causing them to pop open occasionally. Secondly, the label on the card holder seemed a bit small, making it difficult to read the genre from a distance. Despite these minor issues, the Snap-N-Store CD Storage Boxes did a great job of keeping my CDs organized and within easy reach.

What stood out most was the complete enclosure made by the side and lid, ensuring the protection and security of your discs and other valuable items. Each box comes with 12 sheets installed, capable of holding up to 48 discs. The patented 3-ring rivet even allows for expansion with other Bellagio-Italia Insert Sheets for a more extensive collection.
The only drawback I found was its limited capacity, but given the small luxurious footprint it occupies, it's well worth it. Overall, this CD/DVD Storage Binder Set by Bellagio-Italia is a fantastic addition to your home, providing both style and functionality, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Its open design makes finding the specific disc I need a breeze. Plus, the unique floating and invisible effects make it look like a piece of art, not a mere storage box.
What truly sets this CD holder apart from others is its high-quality acrylic construction. Unlike those made of artificial leather or plastic, this media storage box has proven to be very durable. No more worrying about damaging my CDs or having to deal with unsightly storage solutions.
However, one downside of this product is the price point. It may seem a bit steep compared to other CD storage options, but the durability and elegant design it offers certainly make it worth the investment. Overall, I highly recommend this AUXPhome Clear Acrylic DVD/CD Storage Box for anyone looking to smartly organize their CD collection while upgrading their kitchen countertop's aesthetic.

As someone who constantly deals with stacks of CDs and DVDs, I was thrilled to find the SimpTronic Tech New Megadisc 300. This sleek silver case provides a safe and convenient home for up to 300 discs, with a velvet lining and solid chrome metal corners to keep them secure. The aluminum frame, along with the ABS panel, gives the case a sturdy feel, while the chrome handle makes it easy to transport.
However, I did notice that the quality of the hanging sleeves could be improved. Sometimes, the material felt a bit cheap, and the fit was a bit tight, which could make removing the discs a bit difficult. Overall, though, I'm impressed with the product's durability and capacity, and I'm confident it will last a long time in my collection.

I recently had the chance to try out the Nettia CD/BD/DVD Storage Box with Moisture Protection, Lockable - a handy little gadget that's perfect for keeping my music and movie collection organized, secure and easily accessible. This bad boy can hold a whopping 50 CDs, which is ideal for both my personal and office use.
The first thing I noticed about the Nettia box was its sturdy build. It's crafted from a high-impact ABS material, ensuring that my discs are well protected and the box lasts a long time. I also appreciated the transparent AS lid that not only allows me to show off my collection but also helps me easily locate the disc I'm looking for without having to open the lid.
However, there was one thing that bothered me - the anti-theft lock. While it's great for providing added security, it sometimes felt a bit tricky to operate. But overall, the Nettia CD/BD/DVD Storage Box with Moisture Protection, Lockable has been a game-changer in keeping my music and movie collection neatly organized. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and stylish storage solution for their CDs, BDs, and DVDs.

2024.05.20 05:44 Steffy_Cookies I managed to write part of the lore of my world, its 14 pages and I'm only like 50% done 😔

Evergreen, a rather welcoming name. Perfect for a land full of calm, peace and beauty. Evergreen in this case is the name of a vast kingdom. This kingdom is an incredibly complicated but majestic land and its people as well. Now sit back, relax and enjoy as I tell you about Evergreen.
First of all, where did Evergreen come from? Well the most early evidence of anyone living here was over 8000 years ago though if you truly think about it it could be as far back as 50 000 years. You see, the oldest trace of civilization in the kingdom is a large ancient hotel in the center of Heatherlea. No other building outdated this and that record is still held up to this day. The actual date of foundation of the kingdom is completely unknown and absolutely no one can tell when it could ever be because of the incredibly vague amount of information on anything before the recorded history of Evergreen. Though not everyone is so clueless, one person may know the answer on the timeline and that is The One Hundred.
You may be asking who this One Hundred person is. He is the oldest person in Evergreen and supposedly some sort of God. Very little is known about him but all that is known is whoever this person is, they are the most powerful in the kingdom.
Now I think you’ve heard enough about the kingdom itself and the basics on it now why don’t we get to work on actually unraveling this massive mystery. But with so many things to explain, how can this ever have an order? Well that’s very easy to do, this is a catalog of everything to know on the topic of Evergreen. Let’s begin.
Cities of Evergreen
Evergreen is the main city of the kingdom, it is used as a capital as well as the largest megalopolis of the city. Though in Scriptorium, the language of Evergreen, they don’t have terms for city, megalopolis or metropolis. So to them everything is a settlement, village or town. In this kingdom the size of a village does not matter only its population and Evergreen having over 1 000 000 people living in it, it’s considered the largest village in the kingdom. Which is quite a fitting label for the capital of such a large kingdom. Though not only Heatherlea contains an important building. Evergreen has the Main Hall and Steffy’s Mansion, both constructions are very important because they contain Aletine. Aletine is a rare gem that will be explained later on but for now all you need to know on Aletine is that it is very rare and very precious. The buildings each have an arch constructed fully of this material.
The whispers of Evergreen
Not everyone in Evergreen is happy with what they know about the kingdom. Certain things are very secretive and though on the outside it seems like a perfect place it is shrouded in mystery and entangled in a web of unknown like a huge tapestry of mystery. The people of the villages are mostly happy with how everything is going except for one thing. They want to know more about the village’s origin. You see, Steffy, The One Hundred, Heathotel and Aletinian do not want too much information to escape into the public’s hands. A disquiet hums beneath the seemingly idyllic surface of Evergreen. Whispers flit through bustling marketplaces, hinting at an enigmatic past shrouded in secrecy. Kept under lock and key by Steffy and the other main powers of Evergreen, the population never ceases to speculate what they could be hiding. Is it a secret civilization before us? Or could it be that Aletine is the secret to the lost time? No matter what the citizens say not one word has been spoken by anyone in control. And there is a good reason behind all of that which will be explained later on.
Architecture and style of Evergreen and it’s settlements
A warped image of Evergreen is fabricated when you dig deeper than what’s on the idyllic surface of Evergreen. But the kingdom is still a majestic land. Its architecture is primarily biomimicry as the villagers are very connected to their surroundings and the flora that they share the world with. The respect for nature in Evergreen is reflected everywhere, in the architecture, in the culture, celebrations and many more subtle depictions. The style that the land has adopted over the millenia is a very calming one, they believe in living life to its fullest so the architects try to make things as pleasant to live in as possible in almost every way possible. You will never find any hostile architecture in the city as its capital status means that it must show a good example for the other settlements to follow. However, the pervasive calmness of Evergreen's architecture raises questions. Could this serene aesthetic be a deliberate ploy? Is biomimicry a way to mask the secrets hidden beneath the tranquil surface? The One Hundred, with their knowledge of the lost civilization and the interdimensional threat, may have a vested interest in maintaining this facade of idyllic peace. Steffy, with his atmosphirec gem of unknown origin, might also find solace in the calming influence of these biomimicry structures. No one can know for sure but until more is learned why not enjoy centuries of perfected design and let the peacefulness wash over you as you stroll through the markets and quiet neighborhoods of the town.
The rest of the settlements
Evergreen does not have that many large towns, only about 4 main ones, Evergreen, Azalea, Heatherlea and Islafield. Those main towns are surrounded by much smaller ones but the main focus is on the four towns above.
Islafield
Islafield is, as the name suggests, mostly for farming hence the ‘field” in its name. The town is near a lake also named Isla The lake is used for fishing as well as a way to water the crops of the town. This majestic town is the main source of nourishment for the entire kingdom with 60% of its land consisting of fields and crops. The kingdom contains 5.6 million inhabitants which is a vast amount of mouths to feed and according to the way Steffy wants to run the kingdom, everyone should have the same chance with life per se he just doesn’t want anyone to starve or die before their time that is the primary reason why he allowed Islafield to become such a large producer of food. He would usually want people to get their produce from the same town in which they live in though since he has 5.6 million people to feed he made the exception that Islafield can export its harvest to the other towns. Other than the beautiful fields of flowers and crops Islafield doesn’t really hold much interest in the eye of the population of Evergreen. Though it is considered the most naturally beautiful town in the kingdom, its beauty does not help it much with population, it has been on a decline ever since the vault of Aletine became public knowledge. Perhaps the Aletinians, a secretive cult entrusted with crafting tools made of Aletine, might hold knowledge about this strange and sudden decline. Despite the dwindling population, Islafield remains a vital part of Evergreen. However, its idyllic facade now masks a layer of intrigue, begging the question: is Islafield truly just a farming town, or is it a cornerstone in a larger, undisclosed operation of the Aletinians?
Heatherlea, a town of beauty and intrigue
Heatherlea, nestled in Evergreen's north, throbs with a unique energy. This bustling town transforms into the kingdom's prime tourist destination during warmer months, welcoming an influx of 700,000 visitors. The undeniable allure? The enigmatic Ancient Hotel, an 8000-year-old structure, the oldest human-made wonder in Evergreen. However, Heatherlea's charm extends beyond the Ancient Hotel.,underneath the ancient hotel hides a vault. The most secure place in the entire kingdom. Inside of that vault is a supply of Aletine. Since Aletine is only found in that singular spot underneath the hotel a vault was built around the mine to keep everyone out of there given how precious Aletine is.Other than its main attractions, its marketplace features the kingdom's tallest stand, showcasing the rare blue and orange Heatherberry. Yet, the exclusivity of these berries in Heatherlea raises questions. Found primarily in the south, their presence here seems curiously deliberate. Is it simply a marketing ploy, or could it be part of a larger scheme? Heatherlea's vibrancy and tourist appeal are undeniable, but a disquieting question lingers: is it a genuine haven, or a meticulously crafted facade designed to distract from the secrets buried beneath the surface?
Azalea, a town shrouded in floral mystery
Azalea is known for one reason, if you look closely at its name you will notice that it contains the name of a flower. Azalea is named after the rhododendron by the same name, Azalea. This specific flower only grows in the town for unknown reasons and once again the reason for the flower's appearance in this one part of the kingdom is gatekeeped by the main powers The One Hundred, Steffy with his atmosphirec gem, and the Aletinians, each with their vested interests in the mysteries of Evergreen, all seem particularly invested in keeping the reason for the Azalea's exclusivity under wraps. Intriguingly, Azalea attracts a disproportionate number of Aletine sellers, who use the flower's beauty to showcase their wares. Why this specific town, rather than a more prominent location? Could there be a connection between the Azalea's unique properties and the Aletine gem? The motives of the sellers remain shrouded in secrecy, adding another layer to the mysteries swirling around Azalea and deepen the mystery of Evergreen.
Shadows in Evergreen: Unveiling the Kingdom's Cults
Evergreen's power structure extends beyond the readily apparent figures like Steffy and The One Hundred. Shrouded in secrecy, a network of cults weaves its influence through the kingdom. While some, like the Aletinians, maintain a relatively benign presence, crafting tools from the enigmatic Aletine, others operate with a more veiled agenda. The Heathotels, shrouded in mystery themselves, stand out for their potential hostility. Their enigmatic purpose and unknown connection to the Aletinians, an exclusive society rumored to possess knowledge on the craftsmanship of Aletine weapons, fuel speculation about their true motives. Do they cover the Aletine's power for their own gain, or are they safeguarding Evergreen from a yet-unknown threat? The secrecy surrounding these cults casts a long shadow, leaving the question unanswered: are they guardians or hidden dangers lurking within the kingdom's idyllic facade? The Heathotels: Enigmatic guardians of the ancient stone The heathotels are a mostly harmless cult. They are in charge of the protection of the Ancient Hotel and are the only ones who have full access to the vault containing all the Aletine. They seem to worship the hotel itself and treat Aletine adorned objects with the same respect as they would do to Steffy himself. They are highly secretive with the reasons on why they respect the precious stone so much and what connection they seem to have with the ancient hotel. While the other power players, like The One Hundred and Steffy himself, strive to keep the Heathotels' activities shrouded, their efforts only heighten the intrigue. This raises the question, if the Heathotels are truly a benign force, why such a concerted effort to conceal their practices? The Heathotels' enigmatic presence throws a long shadow, leaving the question unanswered: are they protectors of the Aletine and the Ancient Hotel, or are they guardians of a far deeper secret? The Aletinians: Sworn Crafters of Aletine Wonders Among Evergreen's enigmatic factions, the Aletinians occupy a distinct position. Eschewing the rigid structure of traditional cults, they follow a oath instead of a set of rules. The specifics of this oath remain a closely guarded secret, fueling endless whispers and speculation. The Aletinians, as their name suggests, possess a unique bond with Aletine. Interestingly they do not worship the Aletine but instead they treat it with reverence, viewing it less as an object and more as a potent material. The true purpose of the Aletinians is to forge everything that is created out of Aletine. They are hand picked, allegedly to safeguard the kingdom's precious Aletine supply, to ensure the safety of the kingdom’s supply of this majestic gem they can only be of a certain sanity. Once again the villagers have their own theories, whispers abound about an Aletine-infused substance used in the selection process, a method to ensure only the "worthy" wield the gem's power.Though to be granted the incredible privilege of handling Aletine directly is very prestigious as only 30 people have the privilege of handling the precious Aletine. But many things are still unclear with them as well. Why do these artisans operate outside the Ancient Hotel, traveling all the way to Azalea to practice their craft? And why, despite their seemingly benign nature, does Steffy strive to keep them hidden from the public eye? The Aletinians remain a captivating enigma, their purpose and connection to Azalea hinting at a deeper role within Evergreen's veiled secrets. The Nevergreen: Shadows Reaching for Forbidden Power In stark contrast to the Aletinians, who utilize Aletine for crafting, stands the enigmatic Nevergreen cult. Driven by a sinister agenda, they seek to weaponize the gem's power, a truth known only to Steffy and The One Hundred. Whispers abound of their attempts to breach the Aletine mine's containment, a reckless act that some speculate triggered a deadly conflict, the War Of Gods, shrouded in secrecy. Steffy himself, it seems, remains unaware of the Nevergreen's potential role in this ancient war. He and The One Hundred instead attribute it to a nebulous embodiment of darkness. The Nevergreen also strive to make the deepest secrets of Evergreen public knowledge. They are the reason why the Aletine vault became known to the villagers of Evergreen. The One Hundred and Steffy tried to cover it up by saying that the villagers deserved to know the truth of where the Aletine came from. But in reality it was an elaborate plan birthed by the leader of the Nevergreen. The identity of the Nevergreen's leader is a captivating mystery. Villagers whisper of a connection to Steffy's ancient enemy, this enigmatic embodiment of darkness. They are also rumored to have connections to the mysterious interdimensional threat looming over the kingdom, a danger only The One Hundred seems fully aware of. This raises the question, if The One Hundred knows everything about Evergreen, why do they still remain passive? Are they truly guardians, or are they somehow entangled within the complex web woven by the Nevergreen?
Gleams of Forbidden light and beauty Aletine, gem of untold power Aletine, a captivating gem shrouded in mystery, sits at the heart of Evergreen's enigmatic power structure. Its existence fuels whispers, speculation, and a fierce struggle for control amongst the kingdom's secretive factions. Here, we delve into the mystery concerning this precious stone. First of all, what are the origins of Aletine? Evergreen's bustling streets are rife with speculation regarding Aletine's origins. Villagers, known for their colorful theories, theorize that it is a form of interdimensional material, arrived here at the mysterious cataclysmic event that destroyed everything. Rumors abound of a ripped veil between dimensions, spewing Aletine into Evergreen while leaving devastation in its wake. While most of these village tales are dismissed as mere flights of fancy, the recent revelation of the Aletine vault beneath the Ancient Hotel has given some credence to the notion of an extraordinary origin. However, the truth remains shrouded in secrecy. Only Steffy and the other powerful factions possess any concrete knowledge about Aletine's arrival in Evergreen. Unveiling Aletine: Myth and Reality Clash The truth behind Aletine shatters some village myths while confirming others. While not interdimensional as some theorized, the gem undeniably originates from beyond Evergreen's reality. Its arrival coincided with the cataclysmic event that reshaped the kingdom, a truth only The One Hundred truly understands. This revelation validates a part of the villagers' extravagant theories, a devastating event did occur. However, it disproves the notion of a dimensional tear bringing Aletine here. The gem's origins remain shrouded in secrecy, fueling speculation about the civilization it hailed from. Unveiling the Secrets of Aletine Aletine is the most precious and most protected thing in all of the kingdom. The amount of secrecy surrounding Aletine is almost enough to rival the secrecy surrounding The One Hundred. With so much secrecy surrounding the gem you might be wondering why it is such a big secret. Well as explained before Aletine is hidden under the ancient hotel, the oldest building in Evergreen. Located beneath the ancient hotel, the oldest structure in the kingdom, Aletine predates all other known resources. The exact date of its arrival remains locked away in the archives of The One Hundred, who possess the sole understanding of its properties. Historically, they reveal information only in dire circumstances to safeguard the kingdom. Steffy's mansion and the main hall boast massive Aletine arches, a testament to the gem's power: repelling dark energy and matter. Steffy had the arch built in his mansion after the battle with The Embodiment of Darkness. The gem releases an aura around it stopping anything that contains darkness from passing through whatever it is built in. The shape of the arch is also a key detail to securing the room at the maximum. The arch shape lets the aura bounce off of it and spread to the rest of the mansion but in smaller quantities. Steffy and The One Hundred are the only two who possess this key information about Aletine. Aletine's potential extends beyond this defensive ability. Could it hold further, untapped properties? The possibility of weaponizing this powerful gem remains a question with potentially far-reaching consequences. Aletine’s connections Aletine is not only known to Steffy and The One Hundred. The public knows about this gem as well but so do all the cults in Evergreen. The Heathotels’s archives contain the largest collection of knowledge on Aletine other than what Steffy and The One Hundred know. A single, crucial truth about Aletine's connection to an interdimensional entity eludes even Steffy. Only The One Hundred and the enigmatic leader of the Heathotels are privy to this knowledge. Aletine is connected to some other worldly being. Since its roots can be traced to outside of Evergreen’s world, there must be some other civilisation that made contact with the gem before the Great End. Another thing to take into perspective is that Aletine is one of the oldest substances in the world. Its age could suggest a lost civilization predating the cataclysmic "Great End." Could this civilization have been the first to harness Aletine's power? The gem's connection to another world fuels this speculation. Aletine has undoubtedly passed through countless hands over millennia. Are the Aletinians, with their oath of secrecy, truly in control? Or is Steffy merely a pawn in a larger game? Perhaps a hidden organization, like a rogue faction within The One Hundred or a descendant of the lost civilization, manipulates events from the shadows. The question of who truly controls Aletine lies at the heart of Evergreen's mysteries. Aletine’s potentials Aletine reigns supreme as Evergreen's most potent gem, rivaled only by the enigmatic atmospheric gem. It has many magical properties,Its most celebrated property being the fact that it can repel dark energy and dark matter which came in handy during the War Of Gods. It can also be used for a multitude of different things. One of the most outstanding creations with Aletine is the arches in the Main hall and Steffy’s mansion. They are guarding the archives which contain precious and secretive documents on Evergreen as well as artifacts that have not been exposed to the public. With so many possible uses for Aletine only a select few are actually used. The Aletinians have been told only 6 times in the last century to forge weapons out of Aletine. With those orders coming straight from Steffy himself. With the looming interdimensional threat it is highly likely that a war will start in the next millennium. Who will be the 2 sides is still a mystery. Steffy is also worried about a rebellion, Aletine has caused unrest in the villages which have caused small riots and raids of the libraries and archives yet all of them end in failure. It is another very likely possibility that a civil war will start in the next few hundred years. The main powers may be aware of this and are preparing to defend themselves if this possibility becomes a reality. Yet, the question lingers: with Aletine's apparent defensive capabilities and no documented harm to Evergreen, why such secrecy? Are the powers hiding something more sinister? Could they be preparing for a threat far greater than a civil war, a threat hinted at by the whispers of an interdimensional entity connected to Aletine? Lempty, a gem of mysterious beauty Lempty gems, with their captivating light blue hue and characteristically rough, quadrilateral edges, are a ubiquitous presence in Evergreen. Lempty is not much of a very interesting gem. It is mostly used for decorative purposes and not very much in weapon smithing.Though it has a lack of properties, It has very famous use, Steffy himself has a 5000 year old Lempty encrusted egg. It is originally made out of the bedrock of Evergreen, Eslud, with a few pieces of Lempty embedded in it’s surface. Even with such a useless facade with no redeeming qualities, it is still widely used in architecture especially in the northern villages to portray the cold and the snow that those villages usually experience. Lempty can be found in almost every mine in Evergreen, since it is very widespread it has a very small value. Compared to Aletine it is 7 000 000x less valuable. Since it is so cheap it can be found in almost every piece of jewelry and almost every building contains even a bit of Lempty. Rumors of Lempty's untapped potential for healing pique curiosity. Though currently as mere folklore, such mystery raises intriguing questions. Is Lempty truly just a decorative gem, or is there more to its story? Perhaps Steffy's undying devotion to the Lempty egg holds the key to unlocking its secrets. The parasitic presence of Lempty throughout Evergreen hints at a potential significance waiting to be discovered. Eslud, the foundation of Evergreen Eslud reigns supreme as the most common stone in Evergreen. It literally forms the foundation of the world, as the very mines themselves are carved from this versatile material. Eslud is used most commonly in construction since it can resist high temperatures and immense amounts of pressure. The only interesting property of Eslud is that no matter how much pressure is on it, it stays flexible allowing for buildings made out of it to withstand high winds and earth-shattering quakes. It is also the stone of choice when making heirlooms since it can withstand so much damage keeping the heirloom good as new for generations. The most famous example of this is the 3000 year old Eslud box that has been passed down as the Retule family heirloom. More than just a common stone, Eslud embodies the resilience and unwavering spirit that lies at the heart of Evergreen itself. Atmospheric gem, a power of nature The atmospheric gem is the true rarest gem in Evergreen as it is only found in one place, on the tip of Steffy’s magical staff. It has the power to control the atmosphere hence the name atmospheric gem, thanks to its power to control the atmosphere, Steffy chose this gem as his crystal of choice to harness its magical properties. Though Steffy never found this gem in nature since it is a mix between Aletine, Lempty and Celusi. The exact process of how the Atmospheric gem came into existence is still a closely guarded secret with only Steffy and The One Hundred knowing how the gem was fabricated. The exact origins of the Atmospheric Gem remain a closely guarded secret. While Steffy acknowledges the possibility of finding such a gem naturally in a faraway corner of the universe, he downplays the chances of it existing on Evergreen. It takes intense heat and pressure to let it form correctly and there were many failed attempts to create Atmopsheric with the failures themselves playing a crucial role in the final product. It is quite obvious what Atmospheric does, however, how it achieves this control remains a mystery. Steffy and The One Hundred keep the details shrouded in secrecy. This secrecy fuels speculation: what truly powers the gem, and what drove Steffy to dedicate over a century to crafting it for a seemingly limited ability to control the weather? Could there be a grander purpose behind its creation, a power yet to be revealed? Celusi, the geriatric gem of Tyrlosuh Celusi is one of the rarest gems in the kingdom rivaled only by Aletine. It can only be found in Heatherlea, usually near a patch of heatherberry; studies have shown that the heatherberry benefits from the light residue that emanates from the Celusi. The major families of Evergreen usually have a reserve of Celusi to pay the more hefty fines as well as create new heirlooms for each generation. Unlike the highly sought-after Aletine, Celusi possesses no outwardly magical properties, at least to the casual observer. Steffy and the other major powers seem largely uninterested in the gem. Yet, a single, magnificent purple Celusi, a rarity in its own right, resides with the Tyrlosuh family, one of Evergreen's wealthiest and most prominent lineages, containing almost 250 current living descendants and over 10 generations are currently in the lineage which means they’re are 140 year old people in the family. Botinelosi, is the oldest person in the family standing at 164 years old and is the first person to ever use Celusi in the art of crafting. He stumbled across it while mining in the outskirts of Heatherlea near the village where the family originated, affectionately also named Tyrlosuh. Steffy originally seized control of the mine where Botinelosi found it. The quick seizure of the mine raised suspicion on the properties of Celusi. Steffy eventually allowed Botinelosi to have full control over the mine. Rumors spread through the kingdom like a wildfire, Botinelosi's silence on the matter, coupled with the Tyrlosuh family's secrecy, fuels the rumors. What truth are they hiding? Could Celusi's beauty mask a more significant purpose, a power that rivals even Aletine's? Polompty, a concoction of nature Polompty, a breathtaking gem with an allure unlike any other, shimmers with the colors of Lempty, accented by veins of Eslud embedded deep within its interior. It also comes from the same location as Celusi, near the Tyrlosuh village. By taking its location into consideration it may lead you to believe that Polompty is simply an underdeveloped version of Celusi, which is what Botinelosi originally believed when first discovering it in the abandoned Reveras mine right near the Tyrlosuh mine. Polompty was originally put under extensive studies to discover more information on it, all the studies ended up coming with one answer: Polompty is a marvel of nature, a harmonious blend of 6 different stones and gems. Which explains the presence of Eslud in its core as well as the colors of Lempty. Since it has such a strange yet intriguing beauty it captivated crafters's curiosity which caused an influx of its use to fabricate jewelry. However when Lomi, daughter of Botinelosi, became head of the family the mine was closed off to the public and all sales of Polompty stopped causing shockwaves in the gem market, sparking the infamous Polompty rush. The Polompty rush, a desperate search After Lomi shut down the mine, the supply of Polompty slowly trickled to a stop. Lomi's aged father, Botinelosi, allowed his son Bisel to sell the remaining stones stored in the Tyrlosuh archives. With the Polompty market back on its feet, the family had satiated the market’s hunger. However, Lomi had a different vision for the family's future. She declared her son, Utigo, as her heir, bypassing Bisel's claim. Bisel sadly accepted to avoid being ostracized by the family ending the power struggle for the leadership of the Tyrlosuh lineage. The gem market, unable to sway Lomi, eventually turned its attention elsewhere. It wasn't long before the Retule family, sworn rivals of the Tyrlosuh family, discovered a small grove of Polompty near their Heatherberry fields. With the supply restored, markets everywhere flourished and the Polompty rush ended. This new source rekindled the market for three years, until this supply dwindled as well. Now, with both sources depleted and demand still high, a question lingers: Why did Lomi close the mine, causing economic turmoil? Does she possess knowledge of a hidden danger associated with Polompty, or is there a deeper secret to this extraordinary gem's origin? Families of Evergreen, cults in disguise Tyrlosuh family, from gemstone guardians to fallen shadows The Tyrlosuh family is the largest and wealthiest family in the entire history of the kingdom, they originate from Heatherlea and their family founder is Botinesoli and his loving wife Temorla Tyrlosuh who had 2 children, Lomi Tyrlosuh and Bisel Tyrlosuh. Bisel was originally the next heir for the head of the Tyrlosuh family but after Lomi took power as the first heir she decided to declare her son Ugito as the next heir. Bisel accepted his fate to never be head of the family to avoid being exiled by Lomi. With her decision she completely bypassed Bisel’s bloodline from the lineage, completely extinguishing any chance for any of his descendants to ever ascend to the title of head of family. Though this has never been done in the family, Lomi received backlash from both family members as well as the public as this was seen as an unforgivable act of treason to her own blood. With her destructive decision she removed over 30 descendants from having the last name Tyrlosuh. Bisel’s new family line, the Bisenoty, decided to declare a familial war against the Tyrlosuh. Sparking the Biserlosuh familial war. The Biserlosuh Familial war After Bisel declared a familial war against the Lomi, the population of Azalea and the, affectionately named, Tyrlosuh town, started to pick sides. At the time Bisel had the most support by the villagers considering Lomi was the cause of the Polompty rush. Which brought both fortune and misfortune, and had threatened to burn villager’s houses unless they followed her orders as their new leader, which sowed distrust between the populace. The war was not particularly disastrous since it was between 2 armies of around 400 people. Though the amount of lives lost caused an impact in the surrounding area and sent a shockwave in the gem trade market since the Tyrlosuh family were the largest exporters of stones and gems. Both families ended up losing a combined 86 members, 21 from the Bisenoty family leaving only 13 people left and the rest were from the Tyrlosuh family. This disaster would leave over 1300 civilians injured and over 700 dead, it also caused the partial destruction of the town of Tyrlosuh and the complete destruction of the Bisenoty town. Though not only the family’s town were left in ruin, entire neighborhoods of Azalea were utterly ravaged thanks to the supporters of the 2 families. With Evergreen on the brink of a civil war, Steffy himself had to step in and end the war. Though his attempts failed and the war continued for another 2 years before Lomi and Bisel decided to end the battle for the safety of the kingdom as more and more supporters began to sprout and begin fighting in the other towns. With Evergreen on the brink of absolute and utter chaos, Evergreen’s main entrances were shut down and the capital went into lockdown as protests arose, those protests leading into more chaos with the 2 sides arguing and fighting right outside the Main Hall. The Tyrlosuh archives were burned, the Tyrlosuh and the Reveras mines caved in in certain parts and the majority of the Tyrlosuh made jewelry was either sold to another crafter or destroyed entirely sending hundreds of thousands of objects into the Gray Realm causing a widespread jewelry shortage as well as worries on the safety of the Gray realm. After the war ended the Tyrlosuh family was fined 400 pieces of Celusi and their entire Polompty fortune was seized by the Heathotels. Downfall of the Tyrlosuh After the end of the Biserlosuh war, the Tyrlosuh family lost control over the Polompty mine, the majority of their Celusi hoard, their archive was burned to the ground and their hometown was partially in ruins. With Lomi’s dictatorship over the family and her undying hate for the Bisenoty family as well as the Retule family, she forced the Bisenoty family, which was ravaged by the war, to merge back into the Tyrlosuh family name, unifying the rivals and stopping any further familial civil wars from happening. Bisel decided to step down from the lineage and instead become the first person in the history of Evergreen to not be part of a family, whether it is big or small. With Bisel now gone Lomi had no one to challenge her in her dictatorship of the Tyrlosuh family. Until Botinelosi, founder of the family, decided that the lineage had embarrassed itself enough and removed Lomi as ruler. But Lomi refused and since Botinelosi was in his early 160s he couldn’t fight back against her and allowed her to continue her rule. The public had already lost interest in the family and was now fully against it destroying any hope of any new ruler to repair the damage caused by Lomi’s reckless decisions. The Tyrlosuh family, once revered, now exists as a cautionary tale. Their fall from grace serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of unchecked ambition and the devastating consequences of family discord. However, whispers still linger. Is Lomi truly broken, or is she biding her time, waiting for the opportunity to reclaim her lost glory? And what secrets lie buried beneath the ashes of the Tyrlosuh archives? The answers to these questions may hold the key to the Tyrlosuh family's redemption or their complete downfall. Retule family, fruit fanatics or fantasy fighters? The Retule family stands as a beacon of peace in the often-turbulent world of Evergreen. Unlike their gem-obsessed counterparts, the Tyrlosuh, the Retules view conflict with a deep aversion. Witnessing the devastation of the Biserlosuh War solidified their pacifistic stance. They famously disarmed themselves, donating all their Aletine weaponry to the Aletinians. But they still needed to make a profit, so their founder, Ruservi, created the Reveras mine right near the future area for the Tyrlosuh mine. Ruservi was the first person to explore and exploit that part of the kingdom since it was usually used as a tourist attraction for the rest of the towns to visit the lovely northern flora. He eventually discovered a cave which led into a large cluster of Celusi, which eventually led him to create the Reveras mine to mine out this new source of gems for the kingdom. After extensive testing his scholars noticed that Celusi had positive benefits to Heatherberry and enhanced its growth which led Ruservi to found the largest Heatherberry farm in the history of the kingdom. He led the family into a fruit empire for 140 years until he grew too old to lead the family anymore, at his 178th cycle he decided that his son Rymo would become the new leader of the Retule family. This decision came after the end of the Biserlosuh war which started a large change of ruler in many sections of the kingdom, families were giving way to new rulers and the cults were discussing the leaderships. Steffy decided to join in the massive leadership change adding new managers into the departments and a new Head Librarian into the archives. By the end of the leadership changing era Ruservi had already been ruler of the Retule family for a few months, during those few months he had commissioned the construction of a new town for the Retule family and everyone else who wanted to live there. Though this new project was a cover up for a more devious plot, he was in fact commissioning the Aletinians to forge Lempty weapons for his descendants, which caused distrust in the family after news of this plan came into the light. This revelation cast a shadow over the family's pacifistic ideals. Was Ruservi preparing for a war he alone foresaw? Or was there another, undisclosed reason for the clandestine weapon production? These questions continue to plague the Retules, a family caught between their commitment to peace and the shadows of a hidden agenda. Gatosi family, shadows of the kingdom Hidden within the bustling kingdom of Evergreen lies the Gatosi family, shrouded in secrecy and wielding a power unseen. The Gatosi are in charge of the safety of the archives which explains their secrecy and low popularity amongst the populace of Evergreen. They do not have any famous appearance nor have they ever participated in a war since their founding 3000 years ago. Their founder, Guvn, created the family after he noticed the amount of hate that the concealed archives would get from the public. Forever haunted by the everlasting threat of misuse in the archives. He decided to found a new family that would be in charge of protecting these archives and maintaining their secrecy. But considering the fact that Guvn founded the family over 3000 years ago it means he is long dead, he was 343 at the time of his death which leaves him as the longest serving Head Of Family in the history of the kingdom. They originally were treated with hate because the archives were seen as a threat thousands of years ago. But nowadays the archives are a staple in the culture of Evergreen. Captivating the public’s knowledge on what could be hiding in those labyrinth-like buildings. Now, nestled away in the secluded neighborhoods of Islafield, the Gatosi cultivate their unique Yoern vegetables, rumored to enhance mental clarity, a necessity for navigating the labyrinthine archives. While whispers of their reclusive nature follow them, the Gatosis family silently fulfills their role, the shadows of the kingdom their only companions. Fruits of Evergreen, source of nourishment and mystery Heatherberry The humble heatherberry is a ubiquitous presence in Evergreen's northern villages, especially Heatherlea, its namesake. This incredibly common fruit harbors a rare variant, the purple and orange heatherberry found only in one singular farm in Heatherlea. The farm’s owner has kept their identity to protect this incredibly rare variant of heatherberry. The whispers of Evergreen have always condensed into a wide array of conspiracy theories, in this case they believe that the heatherberry is a mystical edible stone that was brought to the kingdom from the forgotten civilization before Evergreen. Despite repeated debunking. A plethora of people still believe that this outlandish theory is true. The purple and orange heatherberry has been widely known for its rarity but also for its properties. The purple and orange heatherberry has been subject to multiple tests, including Eshwar Mestec’s famous 7676AGE experiments. Controversy and mystery cling to the heatherberry, yet it remains the kingdom's beloved snack, a daily indulgence for an impressive 96% of the population.

2024.05.20 02:02 22knocks pineward reviews!

pineward reviews!
Hello, hello! I ordered 10 Pineward samples on April 12th, and they arrived on April 20th with a free sample, Juniperus! I’ve been looking forward to trying this house, as I’m trying to try out green/forest scents which I otherwise wouldn’t opt for, and I was very impressed by everything I tried. I have broken free of the "Forest Perfume to Christmas Candle" Curse!
10 Pineward samples + a freebie mini sample at the bottom
First of all…the colors of all the samples are so gorgeous! I would say these lasted a decent amount of time, around 4 hours in the Personal Space around me, and many more hours on the skin itself. Many of them did wear a bit closer to the skin. I did struggle with the atomizers at times (sometimes they would just Spurt Liquid in a stream), but no horrific accidents as of yet.
I also want to preface these reviews by saying that I am not the best at attributing which green scents correspond to which notes. A nose in progress…I do think it would be really cool if Pineward ever sold solinotes but for tree components – like fir balsam vs. black hemlock vs. cypress etc. Know that...I made an attempt lol. Anyways, onto the reviews!
Apple Tabac - (fresh red apple, tobacco, fir balsam, rum resin, dried fruits)
This is a dry (not juicy, not sweet) apple with a smoky tobacco lingering alongside it. There’s something almost bitter or waxy here (to me it reads like the skin of the apple) + something alcoholic. The bitterness fluctuates with wear, the tobacco changing its mind on whether it wants to be sweet or harsh. There’s more of that “tingling” from the fir (fresh, green notes tend to present like that to me). The drydown is a bit like a caramel apple, nothing tart, but a hint of that opening apple that never quite fades away, enveloped in an almost chewy caramel! The caramel aspect is definitely from the dried fruits, but somehow on me it can smell a bit BO-like — savory and almost spiced? Something similar happens with Gristmill. Smell faded in about 3 hours. Not my favorite, but I think I will need to retry this in autumn. 2/5
Brokilän - (black hemlock needles, larch cones, sandarac resin, momi, sandalwood, Vietnamese oud.)
Wow I love this one! Fresh light greens with a creamy sandalwood drydown, almost incenselike. It’s resinous and smells like coke when it first goes on. Like a very mentholy, almost sharp green-brown, as if it were fizzy. I normally am not the biggest fan of herbal scents but this balances it in a way to offer a more refreshing, less stale vision of Herbs. After a bit, I get more of the bark of the tree itself, woody and still prickly. Eventually, a sweet, creamy sandalwood comes wafting through, first noticeable from a distance. It takes me by surprise at first, and when I lean closer to my wrist to sniff, I lose the scent. Over time, it melds more with the other prickly woods in the scent, smoothing them out, presenting more cohesively. It was okay in terms of projection, and I found I often caught whiffs as I moved around. The dry down is sandalwood with an almost textural element from the other woody/resinous elements, and a touch of green remaining. Lost projection at around 2-3 hours in but 8 hours later I could still smell it on my skin, I think this is the most long lasting Pineward scent I’ve tried. 5/5
Caravansary - (fir balsam, deer musk, vanilla, black tea, lavender, blue spruce, blue chamomile, treemoss, incense, pinecone mulch, campfire smoke.)*
My partner says this one “smells like a forest garden”. I get a Blue Green vibe from this for sure! It definitely changes a lot with rest. There is something light in the background here, I think it’s the herbs (particularly the chamomile). The musk isn’t overwhelming but it is present and warm. After some wear, I get wafts of this sweet, herbal smell that I find very intriguing! I’m not sure what it is exactly but I was continuously sniffing my wrist in an attempt to smell it again. Maybe it’s the vanilla + chamomile, it seems to only really be present from a distance, making me wonder if it’s being buried under the heavier scents from a closer sniffing distance. It’s a cool, smooth vanilla, in contrast to everything else being warm and a bit prickly! The drydown is a sweet vanilla tea for me. It’s a startlingly bright and punchy scent somehow… the lingering scent of the greens and blues on my clothes feels invigorating, even when on my skin it has dried down to a cozy, gentle scent. Overall, this is a dark, dry, cozy scent, with blue green fispruce bearing the brunt of the work, as deer musk hangs out in the background. It does evoke the feeling of being bundled up in a cozy blanket with a campfire in the background and dark, looming forest around you. It shares some of that tannic smokiness with Murkwood, I would say, but the smoke is less present here, though it does gradually come out more with wear. 5/5
Fanghorn II - (silver fir, moss, lichen, pine needles, wet soil, damp vegetation.)
Damp dirt here, very similar to Murkwood to my nose. I had a hard time distinguishing the various facets of this one, but in comparison to Murkwood, I would say it’s more dark green leaves with dirt and no incense/smoke. It doesn’t change much with rest, or morph much with wear. Very refined tbh, for a forest fragrance, in terms of not being as wild/”in the dirt” as I was expecting. I like this, but I think I prefer Murkwood, as this one is a bit more plain and I can’t smell it as much after a few hours. 3/5
Gristmill - (Cedar planks, sawdust, smoldering logs, edelwood oil, amber, black walnut, mahogany, labdanum.)
So here’s where body chemistry played an interesting role…All of these I tested on myself, but I had my partner try this one as well. On my partner's first application, it smelled like cedar planks with a touch of sweetness that made the perfume very captivating. It was almost like a creamy sandalwood, and the cedar was not very funky at all! I was enjoying this a lot. But then I tried it on myself…this time I got more of the richness of the cedar, but in a way that’s not very fresh…it reminded me more of a storage chest/polished wood. I get a slight motor oil / bbq quality to it as well. After some time, it veers towards a fun and prickly sandalwood, but then immediately I smell like Indian food. I’m not sure how, but even on my clothes, I smelled savory spices. I think my skin can make some scents smell a touch “spiced” or savory but this was one of the extremes! Unfortunately, not a huge fan of how it wears on me but I will be pushing this more onto my partner haha. 2/5 due to body chemistry :(
Hayloft - (hay, lavender honey, crocus, sweet vernalgrass, bison grass, toasted almond, hazelnut, oats, dusty wheat.)
Nutty, sweet, bright, light! Doesn’t change much with rest. This reminds me a bit of an oat-scented body wash, or honey bunches of oats. The honey is really light here, somewhat floral. It’s quite sweet and I can definitely see this as being cloying after some time but it’s a very cozy scent and I will try wearing this more once the weather gets colder. Maybe just not the most "me" scent. 2/5
Icefall - (white grapefruit, blue cypress, maritime pine, juniper, nootka, cedar, sandalwood, seaweed.)
Oooh this one is kind of like a smoky, bitter grapefruit on top of a subtle aquatic base. My partner says it smells like “seaweed, or like a sushi incense, but in a good way”. It is surprisingly more woody than I expected. Occasionally I get a bright whiff of juniper, from a distance. After some wear, there’s a hint of sandalwood (this shy sandalwood pops up in quite a few other Pineward scents!) that comes out to smooth things over, but the grapefruit is still there, though less overtly aquatic. More of those forest greens come through as well, and it compliments the grapefruit quite well, remaining bright and refreshing as a general couple throughout weartime. The drydown is mostly light wood with a touch of grapefruit and a very subtle seaweed smell. If you are afraid of the seaweed note, as I was – don’t be! It’s very approachable here. 4/5
Murkwood - (fir balsam, black hemlock, lapsang suchong, moss, incense, bitter myrrh.)
A very resinous incense, with a touch of sweetness. The incense is dirt-like and smoky (likely the lapsang suchong). There are some very subtle dark bitter greens, and it’s very interesting to smell this layered on top of the deep smoky body, as if a slight relief from the incense. After a bit, the tea flavor strengthens and it gets a bit sweeter, as the prickly fir scent dissipates. The incense is not the most clear smelling (it doesn’t outright read as an incense perfume to me, because there is so much going on), but I really adore all the layers in this and find it fun to wear. 4/5
Noki - (lychee, mango, mint, rhubarb, cassis, sandalwood, ambergris.)*
I found this one really benefits from some rest! When I first tried it on, it was a very watery, sweet mango, and I found the mint was kind of muddling it? The combo of lychee and mango was not very apparent but it was juicy and bright in a general sense. After resting, it was less watered down. It became more of an almost unripe mango + bright lychee, tempered by mint, with a touch of tartness and green from rhubarb and cassis, not overwhelmingly sweet but with a fun tart poppiness. Something (I suspect the mint, still) is keeping this from reaching its full Juicy Sweet potential, but as an avoider of the Cloying, i find this works in the perfume’s favor. The drydown is a sweet mango + creamy sandalwood, it doesn’t morph much. I can smell the sandalwood better from further away, as it’s a bit subtle. Very intriguing, will be wearing this a ton in the summer! 4/5
Velvetine - (ambergris, cypress, vanilla, clove, labdanum, fir.)*
Thank god the clove isn’t overly strong here! (Not the biggest clove fan). On first sniff, I get something akin to deep, dried red fruits, something a bit herbal. It reminds me a bit of dried fruit leather, with maybe a touch of honey. I’m not sure whether I think of it more as “fruit leather” (like the snack) or “fruit Leather” (like leather which is kinda fruity) because both can apply here. More of the forest aspect of the scent reveals itself as the perfume dries, and it seems very subtly smoky to me? I’m wondering if that’s the cypress. It’s cuddly, not smothering, but there’s an intriguing “cool” aspect to this, which I definitely did not see before resting. After a bit, the overtly fruity leather combo gives way to a more vanilla backing, and it becomes this cuddly, clear vanilla with some of the lightly smoky greens. There’s a slight tartness from the opening but it’s much smoother and…velvetine now! The dry down is a warm vanilla. Simple and comforting, I’m not huge into the opening but really like the drydown. 4/5
Juniperus - (Juniper Berry, Lemon Peel Absolute, Rosemary, Juniper Scale, Lavender, Juniper Wood, Sandalwood, Patchouli)
The free sample that came with my order! I was a bit scared as I am not the Biggest fan of lemon notes especially. When I first applied it, it was certainly a bright lemon, on the base of something light and almost cucumbery. Luckily for me, the lemon soon faded and gave way to a creamy green scent. It’s a bit of a light, simple scent but I enjoyed it and found it refreshing on these warm spring days. That said, it didn’t change that much with rest, and I found it to be the least long lived out of everything I tried. 3/5
Overall, I had a good experience with Pineward! It was interesting to see that common thread connecting many of these fragrances. In particular, Brokilän, Caravansary, Fanghorn II, and Murkwood all had those shared resinous + green components that required me to think about how to describe them in relation to each other, otherwise the descriptions would all sound the same coming from me! I would say if I had to pick a favorite, it would be Brokilän, but I also find myself reaching towards Caravansary, Noki, and Murkwood! Perhaps the weather is also the reason for that…I’m really looking forward to trying other Pineward scents in the future, and seeing what else they come up with.
Thanks for reading! Now time to work on some DSH reviews...

2024.05.20 01:13 PelicanFrostyNips Is it possible for society to have a truly “guiltless” diet on a large scale?

I have recently decided to become vegan and have been doing a bit of research on how it would benefit humanity on a large scale, not only to help reinforce my decision but also to provide information for anyone I know asking me about it.
So obviously, vegan is the best choice we have available to us (such as an Oxford University article that says global veganism would require 76% less farmland for our diets https://www.ox.ac.uk/news/2018-06-01-new-estimates-environmental-cost-food) but can it be THE PERFECT choice? Is perfect even possible?
The World Wildlife Foundation’s latest report https://files.worldwildlife.org/wwfcmsprod/files/Publication/file/6wlbsmxokc_PlowprintReport_2023_final.pdf?_ga=2.94664216.569166089.1699454468-1491340674.1698673236 that follows the US “plowprint” states that since 2012, 32 million acres have been plowed - not grazed, plowed - for row crops: wheat, corn and soy.
This is habitat loss for all animals that call the grasslands home. Aubudon states that since 1966, total grassland bird populations have declined 40%. Pollinators and rodents/small mammals suffer decline and displacement too, thanks to humans destroying natural habitats to plant food.
Thinking about it, the best I can come up with for a diet that does not harm a single animal is gathering. Collecting natural berries and veggies. But that’s not fit for large scale. Farmland is too harmful.
So vegan is the best we can do so far, but can a society eat without habitat destruction and harm to animals? With this WWF research, I would hate to tell people I tried so hard to change my diet and yet, as a vegan I STILL contribute to animal suffering.

2024.05.19 16:02 brogflea Boyerstree update 2, year 25

Boyerstree update 2, year 25
Hello everyone, once again welcome to Boyerstree, update 2. 10 years is a long time, even in Banished, yet not that much has changed. Let me give you a quick tour.
Towncentre
First up is the towncentre. When I say not much has changed, I mean it, but it's hard to spot under all those trees. Why are there so many trees you wonder? Well, the town is called BoyersTREE after all ;) Jokes aside, since the very beginning I had the idea to fill the space between the two roads up with something. 3 tiles of streets should be enough to stop any potential fire from spreading, but having such huge highways through the village isn't really that nice to look at. In my opinion, at least. So I wanted to fill that empty space with trees because of the random name the village got. That's why I build a forester in the centre, to plant these trees. I still plan to build houses in the (previously) empty spots. Now it might take a bit longer to build them, but that should be allright. Next to the forester I build a Herbalist, because I thought that might be of some use. Also, one comment mentioned to have a Herbalist in the centre prevents the villagers from walking all the way into the forest if they are sick, so there's that benefit as well.
What's also new is the cemetery up top. I planned to make one as big as possible, but realized I didn't have the stone to spare. So instead, I split it up into quarters and will build a new quarter if one is necessary. Right now, I have about 20 graves filles out of 40 possible. So while there is still enough space, it showed me that it was about high time I built one. Further up North you can see the newest addition to the village, a Pasteur with 3 whole sheep in it! Trading is starting to pay off, Wool production can officially start soon! I'm looking forward to having warm coats, I think with the conditions on harsh that will be a huge benefit. The final addition is a little harder to spot, just below the cemetery I built additional barns. I've decided to up the production limits of all necessary resources considerably, especially food. As a result, I started to run out of space. These new barns are built just on the edge of the influence area of the Forester as to not reduce it's productivity too much. At the same time, the main culprit why I'm running out of space are these Foresters Hubs, so the barns are quite close to the source, which is nice.
The most effort during these 10 years was spent on building up the Traiding-Hub.
Trading-Hub
Since not that many Traders showed up and they also did not have the resources I required, I decided to improve my chances by adding more Tradingposts. 2 more have been added and I started to add the buildings which actually benefit from the imported goods, mainly the Blacksmith. Fun story here, I wondered why the Traders have not been delivering my custom orders. I later found out that while I have placed custom orders, I had left the slider of when to place custom orders on "Never" instead of "Every visit"... I'm an idiot. Anyway, one of my biggest gripes with the game since Time Immemorial has been that the Blacksmith needs coal for Steel Tools, while the villagers use Coal to heat their homes and there is nothing you can do to give the blacksmith higher priority. And I imagine even if you could, that would not help much because there are many times more houses than Blacksmiths. The only thing you can do is see to it that the Blacksmith gets to the coal first, which is what I'm planig to do here. Ideally that would mean the Trading Hub is far away from the village, but that would not work too since the people need to walk to their working station. And if I place their houses at the Trading Hub, we're back on square one, so I might as well build some houses nearby. As you can see, I plan to expand the village in that area as well, I've even started on a market. While that contradicts my strategy with the Coal delivery, I hope that the impact will not be that severe. Time will tell, as this part of the village won't be settled until I run out of space at the top. All three Tradingposts are stocked with resources, mainly Firewood, Cloth and Herbs, and ready to go. Up until this screenshot I have imported a grand total of 30 iron, but I'm expecting a sharp increase soon. Also I'm impressed how much I was able to build with the provided Stone and Iron alone. And I was afraid of running out of material at the year 15 update...
Next up I really want to start the alcohol export going. But for that I need to import the resources first, namely apple. While that might not be the best method mecanically speaking, storywise this is my goal: To establish an export of branded Boyerstree Mountain Cider (it's a valley, but shush). Until I have enough apples, I might substitute in berries. I have plenty of them, but they are a food source and I'd rather not turn food into alcohol. But at small numbers, that might be possible. Also, from just one keg I could by 15 apples, so that is tempting... Eh, we'll see. That might be depending on which Merchant arrives next time.
To the South of the Trading Hub I've planned to add a second Pasteur. This is mainly a safety precaution, since herds can get infected with diseases. And if that happens, well you can't do much beside slaughter all livestock and start over. This second Pasteur is my safety measure so I can quickly split the herd and start over right away. Also, yes, I've planed another Forester Hub. Look, you can never have enough, OK? Also as mentioned above, my plan as of now is to expand the village along the river for easy access to trading.
More shepp and Foresters because why not?
Finally, I'll show you some stats from the Townhall. This is more a detail for those interested, but since I'm posting another long post might as well. The production tab is slightly skewed because I traded some resources away, hence the consumption isn't exactly accurate.

To be honest, I never look to closely at the overview tab. I know some people base their expansion plans on how many kids/students there are or how many homes there are relative to the number of families. I personally tend to just look at the population time range, mostly 5 years, and base my plan on that. As well as if there is a new home built, I have a quick look at who is moving in. If both future parents are in their 30s, I know I have to build more houses. As you can see in the population graph, there was a time when the population actually declined. I realized that, and in a fit of panic, built too many new houses, hence the increase later on. Fun fact, that is also why you saw many paused houses mid construction in the previous screenshots. Right now I want to have a stable population with only a slight increase. There aren't that many new jobs I want to fill and the food/fuel production as of now is just balanced. While I have the tools to increase both productions further, I'd rather not. The reserve is a safety net which should not have to be implemented yet. At the start of graph 3 you can see that we had a rocky start with only a few survivors after a food shortage, and I'm surprised how many years it took (4 to 5) to build back the number of people which you start with. That really was a close call.
Graph 4 shows the impact of not having a school at the beginning. I was very surprised to see that in only about 5 to 6 years, the percentage of educated people dropped from 100% to below 25%. I've checked on the internet to see if my gut feeling about the productivity difference was correct and, uh, yeah the impact is definitely noticeable. That school might have saved my village, especially considering how long it took to get back to 90% again.

Lastly, an overview over some resources. Nothing special to see here, except maybe you can see the year I decided to massive overproduce food and firewood. Food mainly for reserve, firewood to get trading started. Iron and Stone is only from gathered resourced, except 30 imported Iron. As I said, I'm surprised how long these last. I've still not collected every node I could, but the paths are now very long and the collection is very slow. I think I might have found a trick to speed things up, and that is to place a storage pile in the woods close to the Stone/Iron nodes. The Labours will deposit the resources there, shortening their paths as they now only have to return home to eat and warm up again. That means they can spend more time collecting stuff. Of course, building is a bit slowed down because of the longer paths, but I haven't noticed that big of a difference. Also, once all recourses are gathered up, I destroy the storage pile and let the resources be transported back to the village. Is this efficient? I don't know but it feels as if the gathering goes quicker. Heavy emphasize on FEELS.
Well, that's all I got for now. Quick glance into the future, I really need to strengthen my disaster resilience, meaning Hospitals and Wells. That needs stone, which should be arriving shortly. Hopefully. And yeah, Trading needs to be strengthened as well. Maybe I'll add more Trading Posts. As we are entering the 'lategame', something I always do once I feel like the village is turning into a well running town is to build an unnecessary long, yet somehow useful tunnel or bridge. I haven't found a place to do this here yet, so I might go search a spot. The next update will probably be more then 10 years in the future since I feel like not much interesting stuff is going to happen now. Time will tell, if something noteworthy happens I'll be sure to post it here.
If you made it this far, thanks for reading :)

2024.05.19 06:47 ScherzicScherzo 33 Luck @ Full Health might be more attainable than originally thought.

After seeing Angry Turtle's video on utilizing Herbivore Serums to suppress the negative downsides for the namesake mutation, I noticed that for some reason Seared Venison with Berries benefits somehow from Herbivore Mutation - but only when its negatives are suppressed. My best guess is that Seared Venison has both the Meat and Vegetable flags, so when Herbivore's negatives aren't suppressed, the game sees the "Meat" flag and rightfully excludes its buffs. But when that negative is suppressed, it sees the "Vegetable" flag and doubles its bonus.
This means that with Strange In Numbers active, it gives 8 LCK - or 11 with Live & Love 3/Backwoodsman 6. Getting 25 LCK as a non-Unyielding player is actually pretty easy, relatively - 15 LCK to start, then an additional 5 from Legendary Luck. Add in Herd Mentality + Strange In Numbers - that's +3. Now put on a Shielded Vault Jumpsuit, that's another +2. You're now sitting at 25 LCK - and with Herbivore's negative suppressed, you can eat a Seared Venision w/ Berries for that 8 additional LCK.
15 + 5 + 3 + 2 + 8 = 33.
Is it the most economical avenue? Nnnnooo, not really. There's the cost of buying the Serum Recipe itself (17,500 caps with maxed CHA), the Serum costing Stable Fluorescent Flux, and then Seared Venison itself requires 3 Radstag Meat and 3 Starlight Berries on top of the 2 each of Pepper and Purified Water. But - it is achievable. You can even skip the Shielded Vault Lining if you want to just rely on the 30 minute buffs from either the Fortune Teller, Slot Machine, or Bowling Ball Arcade.
TL;DR Full Health can reach 33 Luck due to Seared Venison somehow both benefiting and not benefiting from Herbivore, but it's a big investment.
