Hello all,
I'm having an issue with reading tags on a compactlogix 5380 using InGear drivers.
I have written code that works when the cell is in manual, and when it's in semi-auto (completing one station then repeating). However when I run the code in full auto my c# code fails silently and locks up.
I'm triggering my c# code using a message from the plc. Manually triggering the message is highly reliable (I watched it run about 500 times). The issue only exists when the cell is in full auto.
Im fairly new to C# and reading tags from the plc, so any advice in fixing this is much appreciated. It seems like a really bizarre issue and I'm at my wits end troubleshooting.
The error happens whenever I try and read or write any tag
What I have tried:
Try/catch and printing the exception - the code throws no exception.
Debugger - halting on the line that causes my fault and watching it run. This produces the same silent closure of the code as before.
Rewriting my plc code so that the tags are only read when they are not being written to - seemed to improve reliability slightly but that could be placebo.
Writing my c# code to reconnect to the plc every time I read a tag - no change in behavior. In general, I'm skeptical that my connection to the plc wholesale is the issue. I could be wrong, though.
An interesting behavior I've seen is that once the code crashes the event which handles the message no longer runs, as if the event has been disabled. This is not an issue in circumstances where it does successfully run.
