Death is almost unheard of for most people like yourself and really only happens through war (specifically the non-vitrual kind or ones that aren't entirely fought by drones against drones). You live in a typical solar system that is utopian and pacifist but will fight with drones if necessary, though your system is part of a cloud of systems around an inner sphere of truly pacifist societies incapable of even offending someone. Your fellow sophonts and the great superintelligences will protect you. You'll probably live for trillions of years and possibly to heat death if you're lucky. This is by far the most common lifestyle and has an immense degree of variety. High-tech zones are by far the majority of the civilized galaxy. The odds of being born any other way are at most 1 in a quintillion.
CULTIST
You were born in a low-tech religious commune onboard a generation ship traveling 30 lightyears from its home system, though that initial system was already on the outer edge of human colonization at around 457,000,000 lightyears from Earth. Your ideology is definitely a cult. Hence, everyone is being encouraged to cram into a tin can for a few centuries without being able to turn back. Life is pretty good, though. Thankfully, your cult accepts all modern medical technology and life extensions so long as it doesn't alter your human form or mind. Your cult splintered off from another larger one that allowed limited genetic modification to make people stronger, smarter, and more beautiful, which your relatively small minority despised enough to pack up and leave the large icy moon you'd been living on. You need to work a job to support the community, and virtual reality is frowned upon. However, poverty is unheard of, and everyone has access to the public vacuum train from one end of the ship to the other as well as phones, healthcare, free food, and a 5 story house. It's a very tiny community of around 5 million and is little more than a rounding error compared to even the most deserted backwater planets. You work as a drone operator who specializes in repairing the hull of the ship from collisions with interstellar dust particles. You're about to get married to a high priestess, which means you'll be moving to the front of the ship with the massive kilometer tall skyscrapers that reach so close to the center of the ship that the gravity at the top is actually lower. A series of self-replicating drones were sent ahead of your ship to begin building the Halo Ring you'll be living on. The Grand Matriarch of Faith, leader of the high priestesses, recently gave an intense sermon on how you must all breed like rabbits once you get there so the followers of the Truth can outnumber anyone else who dares to try and take your promised land. Once you get there in another 80 years, you plan to become an asteroid miner, which would be great since you already have immense experience with drone piloting and that's basically all mining really is these days.
HIVE-WORLDER
You live in a run-down region of a planet-wide city that is otherwise fairly utopian despite its lower tech level. You are part of a very unlucky minority and charity groups around the world are working to improve your situation. But that's if you don't die first. You spend your days foraging for glowing mushrooms amongst the garbage of a slum as wide as Texas and reaching into the upper atmosphere, though the artificial planet you're on has thousands of times the surface area of Earth. You are one of tens of trillions still sticking around this neighborhood while drones work to repair the area from the radioactive ruins of a series of major terrorist attacks that happened within mere centuries of each other, slowly turning the place into the most dangerous district on your planet. If you had access to the news, you'd hear about how millions are being evacuated from the area each day and how the ruins are constantly shrinking as more of it gets repaired. You don't realize this, but you're actively heading into the territory of a decent sized street gang with a few dozen million members. They will surely capture you and alter your biology into a helpless cube of still conscious flesh to torment you for trespassing on their territory, and even if they don't, you'll die soon anyway. You're starving, sick, probably being tracked by mutant rats made by the gang, are about to step on a sharp, rusty piece of metal, and the lifespan in this place is generally just a few years. The sky is a metallic ceiling that rains rotting debris on you, and the only laughter here is cruel and sadistic in nature. Even the members of the gang live rough lives subsisting off of massive nutrient vaults of seas of liquid fat. Their roles in the gang are chosen for them, and if they step out of line, they will be publicly executed for insubordination. They do their jobs in the gang using rusty cybernetic implants that will probably kill them sooner or later. Thankfully though that's only in the under-hive, most hivers only have to contend with living in molds perfectly shaped for their body and getting nutrients injected while they push buttons in VR to perform various tasks for their corporate overlords who've been purposely delaying the restoration of the area so they can feed off people's desperation.

There is no hope for you. You were just living your peaceful life as an ordinary biological being in a low-tech zone when a rogue digital empire captured you and put you into a simulation of hell. Your personality has been splintered into innumerable identities, all going through every conceivable torturous scenario. This will go on for centuries before outside forces can save you, but "save" means kill since the simulation is encrypted and defended by so many nanobots it wouldn'tbe worth the extra time suffering to remove them and directly rewire you. Death is your only hope, but of course, your psychology has been modified to be incapable of hope. You have been given every possible mental illness to add to your agony. Your nervous system has been expanded for maximum suffering. Entirely new negative sensations have been invented specifically for your torment. Not only are you constantly experiencing new torture, but you can never forget or stop reliving your previous torture. You've also been modified to be incapable of ever getting used to the pain or coping with the tragedy of it all. This truly is Hell as Dante intended it.
PAIN SPREADER
Pain isn't pain anymore, not for you, not for anyone (so you think). Pain is pleasure, pleasure is pain, you've been psychologically modified this way for reasons lost to time, and now you don't even realize you've been lobotomized. Go, spread joy into the world! Giggle as you dissect some aliens (they love it!), remove your skin, everybody deserves to be happy:)
POWER CORRUPTS
You recently ascended to the throne of the largest low-tech region in Traingulum (let's both agree not to talk about what happened to your immortal father). You can't wait to get started with your new job! The first of your new changes is to give yourself an entire solar system as your palace (as you do), and build a dyson shell filled with pointless luxuries, cloned servants, and technology that toootally fits with the regulations of your particular low-tech zone. You order a nebula to be sculpted into a replica of your face (naturally), you prepare an ultra-relativistic trip to the Milky Way in your gas giant starship, and you make sure the lowly filth back home stays in their place by giving them the Wall-E treatment so hard they fuse into their mechanical chairs and become one single organism with no arms or sensory organs, just mindlessly wheeling around like bumper cars (totally normal).
TOO HUMAN
Your group of human primitivists had the bright idea of attacking literally everything that wasn't human, and that went about as well as you'd expect. Unfortunately the faction that captured you doesn't like humans very much, and they don't have the same moral inhibitions that most factions these days do. And so quintillions of you were herded into a vast megastructure with two different sections. Section one consists of a futuristic city populated by various posthuman beings, with a vast wilderness full of humans stripped of their ability to create technologies and societies, serving as a food and entertainment source for the city's inhabitants. The second section, the one you've been assigned to consists of a rotting city where people are grown from fleshy, womb-like growths that drop them in a random location. There is no food in the city except for other humans, nobody ever truly dies, and everyone gets respawned in a random location making any cooperation beyond loose tribes impossible. Morals don't exist, true human nature is on desplay as people commit atrocities just to survive. In a way humanity isn't even being attacked by anyone else, we are our own punishment.
BLOOD
You can't remember how long it's been since the human's Imperium first announced that your world was their new holy land, eons ago perhaps, as only eons could explain the biological material embedded into the geological layers of your world. The humans didn't even fight, they just fell, fell from orbit unarmed by the quintillions. The land, the sea, the air, all of it is made up of human components by now. An unending wave of corpses sinking ever deeper into the crust of a once lush garden world. The sheer heat from the orbital reentry and compression of the human hoards is now enough to melt lead. IMMORTAL
Back in the late 21st century when aging was first cured you made a promise to yourself that you'd live until the end of the universe. That turned out to be harder than you anticipated due to the frailty of biology. However, mind uploading gave you an opportunity. As a digital mind running on lightspeed signals you could spread your mind across countless nodes throughout the galaxy at the price of thinking slower, though that actually helps since it means you're using your fusion fuel more efficiently. Each node as countless backups, active clones, and military defenses. After a few eons you began to worry that you'd eventually get bored or depressed, so you edited out your capacity to feel those emotions and made any act of harm towards yourself impossible. But then you behan to lament your limited fuel supply and how everyone else also had fuel that you weren't using. So you made an instinct to crave more fuel, like starvation forcing you to eat entire civilizations. After eons of murder and conquest in the great Entropy Wars you aren't so sure about your decisions, but the code deep inside you won't let you leave. You WILL live until the end of time itself.

Hi, please sorry for the long post but its my real story.
I was born in 1999 and hosh sambhala in around 2007. So my mother gathered her savings bought a simple house far from my dada house ( where my biological father used to live ) aur baad main ye sunany main aya kay dada nay wo ghar bech diya aur ab shayad mera biological baap shyad rent par rehta he idk, aur dada nay deen kay usoulon kay khilaf sab main uneven distribution ki, yet 5 waqat kay namzi aur har mahinay 3 din tableegi jamay main lagany walay.
What do you think guyz is this normal for anyone ??? I wanna know.
Note: this is my real story. I you guys what to know more about what happened after 2015 i will share that also. Thanks for reading.

This is going to be a long one, if anything I hope it's a good read. I really need help and if someone points out things I cant figure out. I 34M has been interested in a 27F for a while. 2 years ago I went to my uncle’s friend’s house for a dinner a saw this girl. She was very beautiful and made some great dinner and was very polite and down to earth girl. I was having thoughts to talk about her with my mom because I liked her but I came to know she was engaged. Thought it about a missed opportunity because our family know about my uncles friend but never saw the girl. After 3 months we came to know her broken engagement and my mom contacted my uncle if they are interested we can talk with them about rishta. Because she has this personality of a very good home maker and she was very beautiful and our families know each other for a long time so it looked like a very good match for us. I wasn’t earning much and my careers wasn’t stable so my uncle said that they are interested in my elder brother who is abroad and they like our family very much. We went twice to their home after her broken engagement and she was shy all the time. Only spoken a few words. Looked like a very simple down to the earth ghareelo girl. My sister asked her insta and they added each other. Three days after that she started following me on insta and we talked with each other for few days. After few days she said she liked me very much and she is not interested for my brother as he was way older than her. My brother has to come back to Pakistan after an year so my mom told her dad that if he can wait in order for my brother to come back and see the girl. Even though my brother wasn’t interested much in marriage my Mother told her father that they should keep searching for other rihtas. I had no chance since her father wants to have a very well settled guy.
She started talking with me much and use to call me every morning to wake me up and send good morning messages and call me frequently and really showed me that she is on love with me. She asked me to get a job so that her father can consider me as my brothers position was uncertain. I really liked this fact that she is liking me at my worse as I was not good financially and physically ( story of my own why I was like that). But I was confused because of two reasons as I wasn’t sure that bat meray bahi ke chal rahi rishtay ke aur it is not appropriate to talk with her in that manner and the other reason was that I have been through so much hardships in my life that I needed a break from everything and wants to enjoy single life which I didn’t because of finances and once I ll start earning money I can do things always wanted to do. Though I had this thing is that such people hardly came across who do not care for money in a guy. Still was extremely confuse.
Meanwhile she was obsessed with me and call and text me everyday. Slowly I started ignoring her and tried to stay away from her. Use to see her msg and dnt reply but she never mind that and never show any ego or anger. So within few months we just had normal contact as my brother arrival was coming near and things were moving towards bat paki for my brother if he okays her. So my brother came and we families met and my brother didn’t liked her in that way and my mom apologized to her father as she already told him that my brother is very specific when it comes to rishtas. After that me and she talked normal but few weeks after that she said she is still interested in me as she likes me and my family very much and something can still happen between us. So I started talking with her in that sense but still confused as either to approach that path or try to earn and live a life I always wanted. After few months we really kicked in and started talking in a romantic way and things went a bit far and after few weeks started kind of sexting. I have not dated or sexted in my life ever and that was the first time I did sexting. After few days she sent me videos of her showering and I didn’t even asked for it. When she sent me this I didn’t say anything her that this was too much but I thought cant marry that girl now as this is morally wrong and the way she sent it with ease is that it is common for her to do that. After few weeks we decided that we will never sext again and no more nudes and it is wrong and we were fearing that we are getting too attached. If something dnt happen between us it will be hard to move on.
Fast fwd after few months she told me that her iphone is locked and her brother is not buying her a new one and she use to msg me from laptop but she use to come online once or twice a days for few mins. I was busy with my own life trying to find work and was busy in my house construction. She started telling me that her father is looking for rishtas and he is very serious about her being married. There was no way her father was going to accept our proposal of mine because of my financial situation. She told me to do something about my job and stuff and that I am very precious to her and she dnt want to lose me. But she said that she cant go against her fathers wish and cant inkar for that rishta as she had no reason to tell her father why she is rejecting it.
After that something triggered in me and I couldn’t imagine her with some one else and I realized that how much I want her. Probably it was physical attraction too but the thoughts that she is not a gold digger kind of girl and she liked me when I was at my worse. I became desperate and severe anxiety attacks started that what can I do to have a good job and what I was thinking all that time not to pursue a good job. I was desperate because I know that even I get a good job her father will still not consider me. And deep in my heart I knew it is impossible now. Things started getting worse and panic attacks and anexity and regrets went parabolic. My appetite was gone completely and I was having breathing issues when I was trying to sleep at night. After years I cried in prayer and asked Allah to help me in this impossible situation and there is no other way. The last time I fell in love with someone was a long time ago appx 12 years. And she is now love of my live kind of thing. I met her in her uni as there was limited mode of communication between us. Her body language was a bit changed and I realized that she is not interested in me anymore that much.
After few days I told her I ll buy her a mobile and she will use it secretly as her father will not allow anything like that.for few days she said no its too risky. After few days she said okay. I made an insta account for her and gave her mobile. I made that account on my mobile and logged in the new mobile I gave to her. After one day I open my insta and I noticed that account is still there and I logged in that account. I went to Dms and my world stopped ….
I was shocked literally shocked may be didn’t blink for 5 min. I have never experienced that in my 34 years. The thing is that everyone knows that she is down to earth simple girl and had that persona for everyone who knows her . even though she told me she has 2-3 male best friends but I didn’t notice and ignored that thing. What I saw in dm was the moment she got access to insta she messaged her neighbor and told him that her father and brother are not at home and he can come. It was 9 in the evening I ll never ever forget those words. ‘’ apni side dekh lo meray ghar main koi nahi ‘’ . I was completely shocked to the core. The first thought that will come to anyone’s mind is that she was having physical relationship with him. I thought I cried in prayers for a miracle to happen and Allah has revealed me this. I was stunned
After two days she told me to there is some problem in the phone and I took it and get it fixed. She was suspicious and next day she changed the password and I didn’t have access to her account anymore. More anxiety kicked in as I thought may be I am thinking too much and it might just be a friendship.
Anyway I had email of that account and I got access to the account again. She was talking normally with him and few other guys. She told me during that time that one of her male friends are so important to her that she will leave her husband if he says to leave his male best friend. I was monitoring her dm just because to make sure that what I was thinking is not true and I was overthinking other wise I know it is not morally good to see someone’s private stuff. Meanwhile I was trying to get a good job and desperation was still there I still wanted her as there was no confirmation that her character is good or not. She was talking with 9-10 guys but no sexting or nudes. But I came to know that she has only ever hand shaked with her neighbor and there was nothing between them. Even though he was asking for nudes and kiss when they will meet whenever but she refused.
Finally, I got a job at my other uncles frim but I would not be considered a well settled guy. I was more and more anxious by each passing day as I was confused and shocked and I didn’t know what was happening to me and what I want. But was just monitoring her chats in feahope to find the worse and leave from this whole situation as I couldn’t take it anymore. I will be very hard to move on from love of ur life I thought but I had to find a closure. After few days say told me that she got rejected by that promising rishta and her father is still looking more options. During all this she realized that she is really really imp to me and I am very rare because of the effort I am putting in to be financially stable just to get her. She made up her mind that now she is gonna marry me now. 3-4 more rishtas got rejected and now she was hell bent to marry me no matter what. We were constantly talking about my progress and financial situation and she was asking to make things perfect so that her father dnt reject me and I was also trying to get a gov job as the job I am already doing is work from home and doesn’t need much hours in a day and I was being paid in pounds. I had my first proper salary of my life. Meanwhile I was reading her chats everyday with everyone. She didn’t know about the ‘’ devices you are logged in ‘’ thing and since she is not well read and have not enough exposure of tech there was less chance she would find out.
After 1 month a big incident happened. But just a week before that she started proper sexting with a male friend with whom she was talking normally ( during all this she said to her that why u are not talking with me meri zindghi main bas itni dair he ana tha ? y ignoring me and he told her that if her father finds out about the phone I dnt want to get caught. He was a married guy) . they had a call on insta and she probably assured him that she will not get caught. She started sending him nudes and my anxiety levels went extreme. Felt like soul leaving my body and I couldn’t do any thing. Though I wasn’t planning to confront her and a part of me still wanted her badly. As after what happened during last 3 months I went to reddit and read stories of people and came to know how common is this. I was confused and shocked and I didn’t know what to do. After 2 days she started talking with her male best friend with whom she had barely any conversation and they started a video call and she told him she will show him she got thin. After the call they kept talking and she was talking that his dick size is good and started giving him sex tips about how to approach girls and fuck them. Again I was in complete silence. The next day she sent his male best friend nudes while showering and told him that when her father will not be at her home for a long time and he can come and she wants to fulfill her fantasy about giving bj and etc.And told him to watch porn together. I was just numb. Breathing problems started again and I was so done with everything.
To be noted her mother passed away 10 years ago and she was running a kindergarten school teacher in their homes ground floor. All of the hers male friendship started there. And she call his male best friend when her father and brother were not at home. There were so many cameras in her home because of her fathers strictness but she still managed to do all this. I cant say how many times she had meet her friend in school and what kind of relationship they had. Or were they just sexting. But she asked him to send his pic to show me her male best friend. As few months ago I told her to show me his friend. When he sent her his pic she told him that his lips are so black she is not gonna kiss him and she will kiss him on his dick now L . again my mind starting to ignore the reality and I started acting normal
Three days after this conversation one afternoon I received a message from her that she has been caught and her father and brother knows everything now she sent me password of her account and told me to delete her insta. After few hours I received a call from her from ptcl no and she was just crying and crying. This was the first time I heard her cry and my heart melted. Anyway she said to take the mobile back asap and she denied to her father that she has any mobile. Her brother was observing her and he told her father about her friendships and secret mobile and relationship with me I dnt know how he did that but her brother almost knew everything. Her brother somehow got a picture of her taking a selfie with her male best friend in school downstairs in dark with her clothes questionable. Her father slapped her and she said he is my friend. Her father was in same shock as I was because as I said any body who knows her knew that she is a very good girl with a good character and she is a simple girl.
Next day she msgd me on insta from an account of one of the teachers from school and she told me that her father said that if I am interested in her why I am not sending rishta as she told everything about me that I have intention of marrying her and I am doing a lot of hard work just to get her. Since her father is best friend of my uncle I was extremely worried kay kahain bat leak na ho jaye pori khandan main and it will be a great embarrassment for me and my family. For next few days she kept me saying to send rishta and she cant live without me. She was suspicious that I have read her dms and she asked me that if I have problem with her male friends she will leave them forever and she just dnt want to live in her house anymore. And then I did the most stupidest thing and I sent rishta -_- . her father told my mom that my uncle will decide that. Probably her father was shocked and also confused so he put his responsibilities on my uncle. My uncle contacted my chachu with whom I was doing my job. My chachu told him that I am doing great and I will be good financially. I asked my uncle not to give the green signal because I ll be confident of my earning abilities after 3-4 months. But he okayed and bat pakki kind of thing happened.
Why I sent rishta is that first I was in shock because of her character and I wasn’t thinking straight. Secondly I am kind of person who easily get moved my emotions or to help others and her crying melted my heart as I was thinking from hers point of view how terrible her life was because of restrictions and her mother died when she was young and she had no mentor and now she get caught etc. But I had this in mind that my uncle is not goona green signal anytime soon because he told me that I ll be earning properly after 3-4 months so meanwhile I ll think about how to deal with the situation
Now the thing is an engagement kind of thing has happened and elders are saying to have a marriage ceremony in august even though I asked everyone not to have an engagement ceremony or even asked my uncle to green signal to them after 2-3 months. Again I didn’t know what was happening and things just happened. Now whenever I talk with her or see her pic I dnt feel a thing like zero emotions zero excitement instead I get this weird feeling and my heart says that I am doing wrong and my 6th sense says this is wrong it should not happen. I dnt even get 1% soul mate vibe and whenever I see her pic my mind say she goona be my wife ????? like I am numb. But if I think from a logical perspective I am going to get a girl who is crazy for me who is a great home maker which she is because apart from her character she is very good at these things. I am going to get best sex ever and going to get anything a man dream of about sex by anything I mean anything a man can dream of. Since when I ll get good financially to marry to a good middle class girl I dnt know and now a days its really hard to find rishtas and match she is fine with any kind of financial situation as I told her again and again to think about her decision and she told me she is fine with everything as she just wants me and she knows I am capable to do impossible stuff If I make up my mind and I ll make it. Since I have not dated and have physical relationship in my life my sexual urge is getting out of control. So on paper I ll be having a good job sex and a girl who is crazy for me and I dnt know about future what may come because I always wanted a certain kind of life which I never lived because of finances so all looks good. But again my 6th sense is telling me constantly to get out of this whole situation.
But if I summaries when she wasn’t that imp for me I didn’t choose her because I have been living in a cage for last 15 years, it’s a long story but in short I haven’t enjoyed a single day of my life and I have lived a miserable and terrible life with no success and just disappointments and I have been bombarded with responsibilities and trials and I have sacrificed lot of my years to help my family and people around me. So I was always pursuing to get well financially and enjoy and experience stuff I always wanted to do without any responsibilities. Plus I have anxiety of having kids of my own (responsibility ) as I am done with responsibilities and I want a break from life. But when she became my top priority I was willing to sacrifice all those things. Now what ever happened for past 4 months she is no more that imp for me although I still consider her a good prospect as nudes and sexting and physical relationships are very common and probability is high that u ll get that kind of person and she has promised me to leave all her friends and she will try to be a good faithful wife ( which she means it probably). Because I still has her insta and her friends are messing her ‘’hi’’ and ‘’there?’’ which means she has not contacted them. But now I am at a point where I just want to be alone even though I am extremely sex deprived but I am not getting 1 % excitement about it. I feel like I dnt want to get marry forever and if I get financial in dependency I ll just enjoy my life as I have lot of hobbies and interests. But still sometimes get confused that may be I should marry and what I had my dream life will never happen. But still overall I just want to get out of this situation.
I can easily get of of this situation by just telling her that I have read everything in her dms but the thing is i am that kind of person who always think about good of other people by sacrificing my own peace so whenever I think to pull out that card of telling her about her dms I think that she will be devastated aur jeetay jee mar jaye ge as few days ago she said that I am her only thing left in her life as she has no true friend and her relationship with her father and brother is no more. Even now she is rejecting good rishtas for very well settled guys. It is probably true that I am her only thing now and she will live with me in any situation. So that is the only thing which is stopping me. There will be anger from boomers about this whole situation as she has a broken engagement before but if if I tell her about dms its her headache to tell her father why I have broken this engagement. So a part of just wants to get out of this situation and take a breather from whatever happened for last 4 months and all my life and part of me is not doing it just to think that it might end her life.
Kidnly gudie me what to do I am extremely confused. Is ur own mental peace important than thinking about others ? as I dnt think I have done anything wrong in all this and I owe her anything. But since I have no feelings for her kia tars ke base par shadi chal sakti hai ? . Even I am confused that should I marry a well read girl who has exposure or a home maker is fine or not marry at all. I am extremely extremely confused what to do. One thing I want to say is that I am very good looking and extremely humorous and I have been approached by girls and even married women all my life. I have seen them going ga ga over me and I can easily get female attention when ever I want. But because of my morals I have not dated or have physical relationship ever and this wasn’t a rare person in my life so all along I wasnt thinking from the D. Or may be I dnt have much excitement because while monitoring her dms I know her too much before marriage. I indirectly asked her that if she had any physical relationship and she denied. There might be two reasons one is she dnt want to bring the past and embarrass. her self or second is she is unfaithful Cant say . If I tell her that I was reading her chats will it be unfair for her? . Plus I got a rare chance how women keep their options open because when she wasnt sexting or sending nudes she was trying to have conversation with 2-3 guys about getting married
But over all I am messed up and have no idea what to do. I will be grateful if someone tells me something new about how to approach or what to do thanku.

What are everyone’s favourite stories of Dublin. Old or new?
I am talking about things like the legend of Lugs Branigans. Johnny Forty Coats. Brendan Behan being banned from most of the pubs in the city centre. That sort of stuff.
I would especially love to hear are there any stories that have made it into Dublin City Lore from more modern times.

Unifrance

After her marriage ended, Sophie focused on work and got a position at TDF (French Television) in 1981 and later with Unifrance in 1986. Unifrance is a state company with a mission to promote French film abroad. This is how she entered the world of French cinema and met Daniel Toscan du Plantier.
At the time she met Daniel, work was not going well. Sophie had had a dispute with her manager and was going to be fired, according to one account. It was her relationship with the boss that saved her.
Journalist Lara Marlowe described how their relationship began:
During the 1989 Cannes film festival, Daniel Toscan du Plantier invited Sophie Bouniol to a dinner hosted in a chateau by Le Monde newspaper. She refused initially, saying she didn't want to mix her work and social life. But since she was responsible for relations with the press, he insisted. When they arrived, the first thing she did was to tear up the place card saying "Toscan du Plantier, Escort". The French cabinet minister seated next to Sophie mistook her for Daniel's former companion, Isabelle Huppert. "He started complimenting her on her performance in (the film) Violette Noziere . She turned bright red and left the table," he recalls. "When she didn't return, I went out to the courtyard and found her, furious. I can still hear her saying, ‘I am not the clone of your mistresses’. She wanted to walk back to Cannes, but I persuaded her to finish dinner. Later, she insisted that I drop her on the outskirts of Cannes so I wouldn't know where she was staying." That was how their courtship started. Back in Paris, Toscan du Plantier went to the building where Sophie worked on the Champs-Elysees and telephoned from the cafe downstairs. "She said she didn't have time to see me. I insisted and she said, ‘All right, but only three minutes’. She remained standing. I said, ‘What can I do to see you?’ I was getting divorced from Francesca Comencini. Sophie said she wouldn't go out with a married man and asked me to send proof to her mother that I was no longer married. I photocopied the lawyer's file. Her mother wrote back saying I had a bad reputation, but that her daughter was old enough to make her own decisions. Then I received a telegram. It said, ‘Sophie B.’ and her phone number."
It’s clear Sophie was determined to have things on her own terms. She wasn’t going to be anyone’s mistress.
Journalist Michael Sheridan also spoke with Daniel before he died in 2003.
I met Sophie shortly after I was elected chairman of Unifrance in 1988. She had been working in the press relations department and she had a problem with a manager and I had a talk with her how to resolve the problem. I quickly found out she had no intention of following my advice. She could not work with this person and that was final. Without prejudice I told Sophie that despite the excellence of her work she would be better off leaving Unifrance to pursue an independent career. At first she interpreted my opinion as a way to get rid of her and favour the other person who would remain in the organization, and was angry. But I had other ideas and genuinely believed that Sophie had the ability to become an independent producer. We worked together in Cannes and I think that possibly she was still angry with me about the other matter, but we did attend functions together.[...] I think Sophie was still furious about the Unifrance situation but the basic fact was the manager did not like her and she hated him. There was no possibility of them continuing and that she had to make her choice.
A month after this she was visiting his chateau in Ambax. They got married.
She was quite possessive and wanted any ties I had left to Francesca completely cut, which is something that I was not used to, but understood. When I think of it we got married quite quickly
Between this and Lara Marlowe's account, we see that Sophie set our her stall what she wanted before letting Daniel into her life. One wonders what became of the manager that Sophie hated. Was he fired, did he hold a grudge? This episode certainly shows Sophie vigorously defended her interests. Every one of her friends was asked if she had any enemies and each one said they did not know of any, but this story shows that Sophie did not get on smoothly with everyone.

Writing

Although Sophie did not stand out in school, she was bookish, and she was particularly drawn to Irish literature. Her house in Ireland had various books by Irish authors, including Sean O’Casey, Yeats and Behan. Despite this, her grasp of English was middling. She read these authors in translation. On the day before she died, she spoke of Irish literature to Tomi Ungerer
“She was saying how great Ireland was for literature and education compared to France, how France had thousands of books published every year but that there was no good Authors there, how Ireland was vibrant as a centre of literature for a small country”
She was also something of a writer in her own right, keeping a diary, travelogues and short stories.
In 1989 she travelled to India and this trip seems to have made a big impression on her. The house in Dunmanus had several Indian artifacts, candle holders and the like, and a she kept photo of herself on the wall. She wrote a charming travel journal in flowing handwriting. For the curious, this is available for download on the Assoph website. The style is very flowery and metaphorical

“Bombay boasts in its wealth as a demi-mondaine, a little filthy and very vulgar, a sort of creature with too much makeup, addicted to the spectacle it gives, that it presents itself. Its beaches are festering, its buildings far too high mounted in the manner of crimped hair buns stuffed with hairpieces.”
This is the place where Sophie wrote about Kali.
“Calcutta often displays the life of idolatry, adorned with the memory of widows immolated by fire who become goddesses, one gazes at the thousands of altars celebrating Kali.
But Calcutta takes stock and throws all the effigies in the water of the Ganges. And Kali drowns every year, in the middle of the night, in the river. They take revenge on her violently, with rage, pleasure and aggressiveness. The statues take some time before sinking... and we see hands or feet for a long time sinking slowly into the warm and bleeding water of the Ganges.”

Ireland

Sophie’s view of Ireland was no less romantic.
She wrote about walking in the thick fog:
“Everything stopped, even noises and birdsong. You would have thought the air was solid . . . A little fog and you feel you are in the clouds and closer to the sky . . . in the sky. With all this water which one is breathing in suspension.”
Sophie found a sheep’s body in the fields. “A devoured cadaver with its skeleton and skin spread out a little further away. Raw wool, white and animal, dirty and smelling; in fact the whole scalp of a body . . . an empty envelope mixed with dirt and blood. What remains of the jawbone is still flexed, almost open. You die in the wind, in the sea, on the land here; the rottenness is spread out in daylight, perfectly naturally.”
One of her short stories is available online – Marthe. This is a well-developed story, about a woman in rural France who refuses to conform. It is set in Sophie’s ancestral home, the Lozere. Interestingly, although Sophie is drawn to the countryside, she is rather critical of the rural mindset. She describes a village of distrustful farmers, where nobody has any friends. Marthe herself is a shut-in who avoids people. She lives at night and goes walking the fields in darkness and in winter simply to avoid people. The villagers can’t stand her nocturnal wandering and deliberately hobble her, cutting her achilles tendon. In particular, the weather is a malevolent force throughout.
At over 10,000 words, it is rather long and wordy, full of description, and it needs an editor. But it shows Sophie’s passion for rural isolation. It portrays a woman who shuns society and roams the hills, perhaps reminiscent of how Sophie liked to go for long lonely walks. But was she, like Marthe, a woman who liked wandering around in the dark?

Daniel

All the biographies of Daniel Toscan du Plantier include words like flamboyant, energetic, charismatic. He was born on 7 April 1941 to father Jacques Toscan du Plantier & Françoise de Ganay. His father was a registrar of mortgages and lived in the South of France. Jacques was still alive in 1996, and Sophie’s diary shows she helped prepare his 84th birthday.
He began his career advertising executive and moved into cinema rising to become managing director of Gaumont, one of the most reknowned French film studios. He produced dozens of films during his career at Gaumont and later at Unifrance. Daniel had a hand in some classic movies of European cinema, such as Fellini’s City of Women. Allegedly he rescued the production of Kurosawa’s Ran. If true, then I can forgive all his faults. But he consistently lost money, quite a lot of money. This was studio money, of course, not his own. He himself became wealthy and lived between a mansion in Paris and a chateau in the South of France at Ambax.
He was somewhat snobby and was proud of his aristocratic sounding name, and claimed to have descended from the Chevalier Bayard, the 16th century knight famed as being “without fear and beyond reproach”. He was a personal friend of Presidents Jacques Chirac and François Mitterand. The French accounts describe him as being a “grand seducteur” which is something between a “ladies man” and, perhaps less charitably, a womanizer. Apart from Sophie, his other partners were actresses. His first wife was Marie Christine Barrault, divorcing her in 1979. They had two children, David and Ariane. He then married Francesca Comencini in 1982 and had a son, Carlo. Sometime in the 1980s he had a ten year long live-in relationship with actress Isabelle Huppert and in 1986 he dated Isabella Rosselini. He finalized his divorced Comencini in 1993.
In 1988 he was appointed director of Unifrance, the state company charged with promoting French cinema on the world stage. Daniel saw his role as one of fighting for European cinema against the dominance of Hollywood.
It was at Unifrance where he met Sophie. At this time he was married to his second wife Francesca Comencini and already had three children but the marriage was already broken down. In 1991 he finalized the divorce with Comencini and married Sophie. Michel Larousse wrote that Daniel was a sort of social “weather vane” (“toupie mondaine”) who treated Sophie differently depending to the company he was in. If they liked Sophie, he was considerate to her, if they didn’t, he could be obnoxious.
He had many extra-marital affairs, according to several who knew him, including from his personal chauffeur. Sophie knew about these affairs, according to her best friend Agnes Thomas.
Some people described it as an open-marriage, saying their “open marriage was an open secret”. However, if so, it was more open from Daniel’s perspective than Sophie’s.
Daniel’s life was packed full of parties, receptions and festivals. Sophie found this social effort exhausting and her house in Dunmanus was one of her places of refuge from this limelight. Daniel bought the house for her back in 1991 as a present just before they got married. It had always been a dream of hers to own a house in Ireland but it wasn’t to Daniel’s taste. According to her mother, he suggested she buy a house in Brittany instead, because “it rains just as much and it’s not as far to travel.” He visited Dunmanus only once, sometime in 1991 or 1992.
Daniel’s account of her personality:
"Sophie was very dynamic. She was a young impulsive woman, sometimes to the point of being aggressive and would not be in the habit of letting herself being walked on. In effect she was more than a tough character, with a strict moral code, who feared nothing. She rather avoided the world of society and gossip and preferred the chic and popular quarters where she felt more at ease."
"I have to say, that like all couples, disputes arose, Sophie was not an easy person to live with, in those moments she would not hesitate to leave our home and go to her close confidante, her cousin Alexandra, who lives in Geneva. She was equally very close to Agnes Thomas, who was indeed a confidante. If our life as a couple was sometimes not without hitches, she still decided to have a child and had ceased to use any form of contraceptive."
"In the case of an altercation, Sophie had such a temperament that she could fly into a rage and was not the type to offer no resistance. Equally and in the same vein, I’m saying, that because of her character, my wife would not hide from any noise outside, but would rather go out to investigate. I had been able to verify that several times. Equally, because of a certain philosophy and moral code, above the usual standards, I believe her to be completely incapable of having had an affair within the marriage. To my knowledge, she did not have any other particular relationship in Ireland."
Note that Daniel is being economical with the truth here. She may indeed have had a moral code, but she did have an affair with Bruno Carbonnet, and Daniel was aware of this. But it wasn’t a secretive sort of affair, the marriage had broken down.
Daniel suffered a heart attack and died at the 2003 Berlin film festival aged 61. He literally lived and died at the cinema.

Striking out on her own

Barely a year after her marriage to Daniel, there was a crisis in the relationship and Sophie left, moving back into to her apartment on Rue Rambuteau. At this time her character seemed to be changing, she was becoming more assertive, dominant even “pugnacious” according to some. She no longer wanted to be an employee, a secretary or an assistant but set up on her own. She founded her own production company “Les Champs Blancs” (trans: The White Fields) working out of her appartment. She started to produce her own documentary films projects, working with a talented director, Guy Girard and an experienced producer, Vincent Roget. Roget was drafted in to help Sophie when she was working on a documentary on African Art for the ARTE channel. He commented that although she was a beginner at production and no idea how to run a company, but was determined, and was learning quickly. With his help she completed the documentary on African Art in 1995 and it was well received. She offered her house in Ireland to Roget; he and his family stayed there in August 1996.
At the time of her death she was working with director Guy Girard on an artsy documentary variously entitled “The Fold”, “He sees folds everywhere”, or “Look for the fold!” This production drew a connection between “folds” of all kinds, in paper, in cloth, in skin, even life. In the weeks leading up to her death, this project had kept her busy, such that Vincent Roget, had a minor row with her, insisting she had to finish her work in France before taking off to Ireland. He said she finished work on “The Fold” on December 8/9. The project was completed after she died. It premiered in November 1998, though the reviews I have read found it bizarre and confusing. According to her brother Bertrand, she was researching her next project, which was to be themed on human bodily fluid, blood, sweat, milk, semen, bile. So it would have been very much an art-house type of production.
She certainly had the connections to succeed. Apart from her celebrity producer husband, her diary is chock full of the phone numbers of famous people in the cinema, actors, producers, musicians. Not just connections but also lunch and dinner meetings.

Living for Art & Artists

Pierre-Louis described his mother as “not an artist, but living for artists and artistic manner”. But what kind of art? The house in Dunmanus had a couple of small paintings but not much. Her aunt Marie-Madeleine Opalka was married to the artist Roman Opalka. This artist was known for painting sequential numbers 1 to infinity on a large 2mx1m panels and selling them. He started out with a black canvas filling it with tiny digits in white paint - each successive canvas was slightly lighter that the previous one. He got up to number 5 million or so before he died, but unfortunately never reached his stated goal of painting white on white, which he estimated would happen at 7 million. That’s it, and he made a good living painting tiny numbers in white paint. Conceptual art is what I believe this is called.
Bruno Carbonnet’s art is slightly more interesting, and at least he used colors. His work is visual and abstract, some mixed media and with a lot of detail.
Her husband was also fond of art, but of entirely different kind. His office was stuffed with fake old masters, props which had been commissioned for his films. Daniel’s movies were rather arty too, if much more classical. He produced several classical operas on film. Madame Butterfly was the last, losing tens of millions of dollars.
Despite this, there was strangely very little art in the cottage in 1996. There was a small painting of the Fastnet light house on the fireplace, quite dark, stormy and somewhat abstract. Apart from this, there was a very dark head portrait in the guest bedroom and that is all. The photos of the interior of her cottage show a very simple, minimalist decor of her cottage. But this was a holiday home, and it was unfinished.

Bruno

In Spring of 1992 Sophie met with Bruno Carbonnet, an artist-painter based in Brittany and began a two year affair with him. Daniel knew of this relationship. They were introduced by Sophie’s aunt Madame Marie Opalka and Sophie visited his studio and bought a painting from him. Here is Bruno’s account of the relationship
“It was during a workshop meeting that I had with her aunt and uncle Madame Marie-Madeleine Opalka and Roman Opalka. I had known these people for four or even five years before. These are people who work in art, he is a painter and she helps her husband. I got to know them because we had an exhibition together at Sao Paulo in Brazil where I exhibited my paintings during the Sao Paulo Biennial. Afterwards, we ran into each other from time to time thanks to a common friend. This is how they introduced their niece Sophie. This meeting was not planned. It was noon, I went to pick them up from their hotel and on the way to my workshop Marie-Madeleine asked me to go and fetch her niece Sophie. We went to pick her up from her home where she was waiting for us in front of her building. We all went to the studio and looked at my paintings. Sophie left for an appointment then joined us in a nearby restaurant. She asked me to come back to the studio the next day to look at the paintings again. So she came back the next day and bought a painting from me. She had indeed noticed this painting the day before and I had given her an idea for the price. So like I told you, she came back the next day to buy it from me at the price of 11,000.00 or 12,000.00 Francs. It is a dark painting representing a face that appears as in an opening. After buying it, I know she took it to her home because she told me that her husband did not like it.
A month and a half or two months later and after several visits relating to Art because she was interested in painting, our relations became intimate. She came one day around 2:30 p.m. to drop a letter at my home. It was a little ruse to make an appointment. When I heard her drop this letter I opened the door. We kissed each other. “Things" were pretty clear between us, but it couldn't have gone any further at that moment. I left because I had an important meeting at the Ministry of Culture. Before we left, we made a date at my home for the next day and that was the day I had sex with her.
Our relationship lasted with ups and downs for almost two years. For a year to a year and a half, these relationships were only episodic, they were dates or trips of two or three days. These meetings took place either at my place or at her place, not at her marital home on rue Taitebout but at her "bachelor pad" on rue Rambuteau which was a three-room apartment which also served as an office. It was during this period that I went with her to IRELAND. I have been there three times. The first time was during the February holidays or Easter 1993, during school holidays. It was a good week's stay. We did some work there. We were there to go in her father's car and by car ferry from Le Havre with return by Roscoff. The second time, it was by plane, a month and a half or two months later and the third time it was in July 1993 during the summer vacation period. We went there with my car from Le HAVRE and back via LE HAVRE. Each time we did some DIY there.
Our relationship deteriorated on the last trip to IRELAND because she wanted to have a child, moreover she already had chose the first name: Thérèse. Since there was no child, she did not have to choose a first name and I found this behavior narcissistic and only narcissistic. I learned that she had entrusted her child Pierre-Louis from birth to her mother. Besides, I was not ready to have a child. For me, it was out of the question given our relationship.
Faced with my refusal, there was then an attempt on her part to prove her commitment to me, to install me more comfortably and more precisely in the apartment on the rue de Rambuteau. At that time, I therefore helped her move her things from her marital home. It was a few paintings, her son's belongings, some of her personal effects. It all fit in a van. So I went to the marital home because she had taken advantage of her husband's absence to move out. As for me, afterwards, I went to get my things to move to rue Rambuteau. It was assumed between us that this situation was only temporary because I had told her that I would look for something in LE HAVRE because on the one hand I had a job there and that I was no longer going to have my painting studio and that on the other hand I wanted to leave PARIS
This situation lasted for two to three months. It was during this cohabitation that I realized that it was not going to work. So we came to a rupture. Our relations then became more and more strained, sometimes even leading to an exchange of words. For example, I no longer accepted looking after her son when sometimes she was away one night but gave me no justification.
One day at the end of December 1993, we had words because I had told her once again that I could not stand this situation any longer. I had informed her that I wanted to go. She then said to me in an almost contemptuous tone “what are you going to do, where are you going to go, etc.” as if she had some power over my freedom of decision. This attitude irritated me. I then told her that I could live anywhere and that was not a problem. The next day maybe, I went to work and when I returned, she was away from the apartment and she had left me a letter in which she said to me: “I left there where you have never been, there where you'll never go”. I never knew what that meant. I took this letter and at her express request, in February or March 1994, I returned all her correspondence, including this letter, and she then returned my belongings from Ireland (a computer, my paintings, etc...). Returning her letters was the condition for me to get my things back .
Going back to December, after finding the letter, I waited for her because I wanted to say goodbye to her son. I had even bought Christmas presents, a bicycle for her son; it was the thing he wanted the most but his mother would not allow him to have one because he had been hit by a car and she was very apprehensive about it. I spent more than two weeks alone in this apartment. I did see her again during this period. At the beginning of January 1994, I went to give my lessons at Le Havre, she called me and said "you must understand that it is over". I returned Le Harve, the apartment locks had been changed, the majority of my belongings were on the landing. When my exhibition was hung in January 1994, she came to meet me at the gallery and we made love at the hotel. This was the last time we were intimate. It was she who wanted this meeting and I never knew why.”
Sophies friend and confidente, Alexandra Lewy said that Bruno did not take the break-up well. He violently damaged his own paintings in a gallery and one time waited for her in her apartment building. When she came back and put the light on he pushed her up against the wall and she couldn’t breathe. She got a fright but that was all. Lewy also claimed he sent a large screw to her in the post and a roll of his own paintings cut into pieces.
Sophie’s uncle Frederick Gazeau met Bruno and commented that he found him a timid, introverted person but also quite likeable. Gazeau said that they broke up immediately after moving into an aparment together. He said Sophie found him too depressing to live and was afraid of him following the incident outside her apartment.
Six weeks before the murder, Bruno contacted Sophie for the first time since they broke up. He asked Sophie for a loan of one of his paintings for an exhibition. Sophie readily agreed.
Bruno gave a statement on 28th December 1996 to French police, and two further statements on 16 January 1997 when he was arrested and detained him until the next morning. His flat was searched and he provided multiple pieces of evidence as proof of alibi, including a receipt for the installation of a telephone and ATM transactions.

Back to Daniel

After she left Bruno she went back to Daniel and the marriage resumed under an atmosphere of conflict. However they seem to have made an attempt to patch things over. Sophie still wanted another child and resumed her plan, trying again with Daniel. There is good evidence for this. She told several of her friends and Daniel himself wrote this in his statement. Her year planner for 1996 shows she was monitoring her daily body temperature during June and July, a common technique to predict fertility, especially for women having difficulty to conceive. Her plan was a rather astonishing in its ambition. Just as with Bruno, she declared she was going to have a daughter, named Therèse and she planned to give birth at the same time as her brother Bertrand’s wife so the cousins could grow up the same age. Of course this plan failed, but it is an interesting insight into her character for two reasons. Firstly it is strange to think she thought could control such matters as pregnancy and sex of the child. Secondly, it is odd that she told everyone about it. Most people keep such matters to themselves. Sophie was a rather private person in many respects, so for her to tell so many of her friends and family seems odd. As to why she didn’t succeed, was it just bad luck or age, or was it that she didn’t have a willing partner? We don’t know.
Daniel may have been the stumbling block. Writing about her trip to Ireland at Christmas 1996 and quoting Agnès Thomas, Michel Larousse wrote:
“At that time Sophie had confided to Agnès that she was extremely anxious, tired and psychologically weakened because she had a feeling that Daniel was cheating on her and slipping away from her. He constantly refused to have a child that Sophie greatly desired.”
Quoting another friend of Sophie’s, Fatima Zandouche, Larousse wrote:
“Seriously, she was not looking for men despite the nonsense of her husband Daniel, whom she suspected of cheating on her in particular in 1996 before leaving for Christmas in Ireland. On this date she had confided to Fatima that she wanted to have a little girl to name her "Thérèse" but that her husband refused her. She wanted Fatima to accompany her for these few days that she wanted to spend at Schull.”
There are conflicting reports on whether Daniel was in another relationship at the time of Sophie’s death. But it seems plausible, even likely given Daniel’s almost continuous history of womanising. In a cruel irony, in March 1998, a little over a year after Sophie’s death, Daniel had a child with his secretary Melita Nikolic, a baby girl, which they named Tosca. Daniel simply said “one must respond with life to death”. He married Nikolic few months later, rather carelessly choosing the same day Sophie’s parents travelled to Ireland to dedicate a stone cross to her memory in Dunmanus on the spot where she fell. Melita Nikolic was born in 1968 in Le Harve. Her parents were Serbian immigrants. Her father had been violently abusive to her and her mother. At age seven she found her mother stabbed to death, her father was suspected but never charged. She was fostered in a family in Paris where she grew up. In 1995 she joined Unifrance as a press attache where she met Daniel. They were married in 1998 and had two children, Tosca and Maxime.
Even if Daniel and Melita were not in a relationship at the time of Sophie's death it shows he was prepared, time and again, to have intimate relations with colleagues at work. Many well run organizations explicitly forbid relations in the workplace, precisely because of the problems of jealousy and favoritism that can arise. After all, when Sophie hit a problem with her manager at work, she resolved it by becoming the wife of the boss, giving him an ultimatum, forcing him choose her or her manager.
It is not at all inconceivable that Sophie made enemies.

Sophie - I the early years
So much effort has been put into understanding her murder, but all the inquiries, reviews, analyses have focused on have been focused on one thing: The Suspect, her presumed killer, the “Devil in the Hills” as her husband Daniel called him. But virtually nothing has been done to examine her life. There are some articles, bios, but they are all maudlin hagiographies, sometimes focusing on someone uncommonly beautiful "She was light - she walked on the tip of her feet, as if she were dancing," according to her extravagant aunt Madame Marie Opalka. Lara Marlowe lamented the untimely loss of "a promising woman of letters". According to Lara Marlowe people "ought to know that she read Rimbaud and Proust and Brendan Behan"
The devil is dead now and after 27 years of digging no evidence has been found to justify a charge. I don’t believe in angels or devils but if there are any clues left to understanding her shocking death,I believe we should look at her life.
Sophie Bouniol was a private person. She shunned the limelight, ducked out of photos, skipped celebrity parties and in Ireland she used her maiden name Bouniol, instead of that of her celebrity husband. She never wanted to be famous.
Unfortunately her tragic and mysterious death has meant she has become in some ways more famous than her celebrity husband and she would have hated that. But if we are ever to make sense of Sophie’s life and her brutal end, we need to see her as a real person, including her quirks and idiosyncracies. Her life was so much more than the tragedy that happened in 1996.
There are limits to how much can you know about someone merely through reading about their life, especially someone you have never met. But you can read their writings, what others have written, ask their friends, family & confidantes and you can form a picture of that person, composed of points in time, imagination has to fill in the rest. I am going to present several different and sometimes conflicting views about Sophie, from various people who knew her. But some of them knew her better than others, or knew her from a different aspect. Some people naturally edit their memories to present Sophie in an idealized light. This is only natural.
And even if you are close to someone, how well do you know them really?
Her first husband Pierre-Jean Baudey said “Sophie had many facets to her personality”. Her second husband Daniel Toscan described Sophie as fiercely independent and had "an obsessive sense of mystery. She liked to have lots of secret gardens - even after we married, I'm not sure I knew everything about her." After a row or when she was annoyed, Sophie would suddenly walk out without or telling her husband Daniel where she would go, leaving him to search all over Paris for her. It was only after her death, that he found out she was visiting her cousin Alexandra in Geneva.
Her ex-lover Bruno Carbonnet also noted she was a woman of many different aspects. He said “she was an instinctive person in many facets which could not be realized in only one life, it is thus that she compartmentalized in a watertight manner the different roles of each person and also of her life. She could go alone to Ireland, she could disappear without anyone knowing where she was.”
The material I have used here is the sworn statements from the Garda investigation & the French investigation, a report on her personality conducted by French psychologist Michel Larousse which was presented at the trial in Paris in 2019, and various news articles, books and documentaries. .
It is not so much that people keep secrets, indeed they do, sometimes even from those closest to them, but it is more that some people are private.

Physique

Physically, Sophie was average. It has been often been reported she was “very small”, “petite”, only five foot in height (1m52), but this is incorrect. Her passport and her post-mortem both record her height as 1m65 or 5 foot 5 inches. This is exactly average for an adult woman. Her weight was not recorded in the post-mortem but she was neither over nor underweight it can be estimated about 55kg or 120lbs. She has been also been described as very beautiful. Indeed this is subjective so is hard to say otherwise. But this narrative that Sophie was uncommonly attractive is partly derived from the widespread belief that her murder was a sexual assault, but there is no evidence for any sexual dimension to the crime. The most common photos used, show her in much earlier times, in her teens and twenties.
She was certainly not unattractive, and we can see on the last images of her from Cork airport CCTV a well dressed slim woman with blonde hair. But we can also see she appears visibly tired, her eyes a little sunken.
This was confirmed by the first woman at the Avis desk said in her statement that “she looked more drawn in reality than the published photos”. The second woman commented that she had a thin face and that she estimated her age as early forties, a few years older that her age at the time (38). Perhaps this is because she was tired having just completing a work project.
But much more than physical beauty, many found Sophie attractive as a person. A little unusual, intelligent, sometimes bookish and a person who had no interest in smalltalk. She was described as “intelligent, energetic and passionate”, and she was certainly attractive in the sense that she was an interesting, serious person.
Nobody is on record saying that they disliked her although some commented that she could be difficult and uncompromising. I mention this only to say that in my search for someone who might have hated Sophie, I have come up blank, but she might have had the ability to drive someone mad. [UPDATE: In 1988 Sophie had a very serious disagreement with a manager at Unifrance, such that Daniel indicated she would do better to leave the organization if she could not resolve her differences. He said she "hated him"]

Early Years

Sophie’s parents, George Buniol and Marguerite Gazeau met in Paris. Although they lived almost their whole lives in Paris, they were both from Lozère in the South of France. This region is rural, mountainous and remote and Sophie’s family maintained their links to the area. Sophie herself wrote a short story, Marthe about a spinster woman living Combret, the village where her mother grew up.
Sophie Andrée Jacqueline Bouniol was born on July 28 1957. Her parents were middle class, well off but not wealthy. Although they met Paris but their families both came from Lozere.
They worked hard during their lives to give a good standard of living for Sophie and her two younger brothers Bertrand (1959-) and Stephan (1972-). Her father George (1926-) was a dentist and her mother Marguerite (1931-) worked as a bureaucrat.
Her schooling was average, she changed school a number of times as her parents moved around. She went to well-regarded high schools, such as Lycée "Victor Hugo", then Sainte Marie des Invalides. In the Summers of 1971 & 1972 She came to Ireland to improve her English language skills. She stayed with a family in Sutton, Co Dublin, the MacKiernans. The MacKiernans were a big welcoming Irish family with ten children. They took Sophie around the country in a caravan. It was only for two summer visits, a few weeks in total. She is often described has having a life long passion for Ireland after this, but I don’t really believe this was anything more than a fascination with of the picture postcard views and the literary history of writers like Joyce and Yeats who died decades ago. There is no record that she had anything to do with Ireland for the 18 years between 1972 and 1990. She didn’t seem to maintain any Irish friends. There are no Irish friends listed in her agenda book for 1995 and 1996.
Ireland was terribly fashionable in France at the time in the 1970s and 1980s. Not Ireland as a real country, Irish culture or Irish people as they were at the time but more a vision of Ireland you get from listening to the smash hit "Les Lacs du Connemara" or watching movies such as The Purple Taxi.
This movie tells the story of a troubled French philosopher who buys a tiny cottage in Ireland to escape personal trauma and moves in circles with other troubled expatriates living in self-imposed isolation. Does this sound familiar? It’s tempting to conclude Sophie got the idea of buying a cottage in Ireland directly from this movie. The cinematographer Tonino Delli Colli was an absolute master and he captured the raw beauty of the West of Ireland like few have done before. With Charlotte Rampling, Peter Ustinov, Fred Astaire and others, the whole movie is ravishing eye candy. The actual plot of is confusing and rambling, perhaps Michel Deon’s book makes more sense. Remarkably, when Sophie was looking to buy a house in Ireland, Daniel telephoned Michel Deon and asked him for his opinion.
Her parents described her as fairly headstrong, “intelligent but not very well-behaved” according to her father. In 1973 they sent her to a strict Dominican convent school in Rome so she could finish her baccaulaureat.
In 1976 she went to law school in Paris but dropped out after two years. It was around this time she met her first husband, Pierre-Jean Baudey.

First Marriage

Sophie met Pierre-Jean in 1975, She was 17, he was 19. They lived together for 3 years while they ran a video equipment shop belonging to Pierre-Jean’s father. Then Pierre-Jean went to Africa to do a two year national military service which was compulsory in France at the time. When he returned in 1980 they got married. Soon after this Sophie got pregnant and her son Pierre-Louis was born on March 26 1981. The marriage fell apart within months. Her friends and family gave differing reasons why it failed. Pierre-Jean said Sophie had post-natal depression, but others put it down to the couple having different priorities. Sophie wanted a traditional family, while Pierre-Jean focused his energies on his work and hobbies. Their son, Pierre-Louis put it down to different personalities, “she lived for art, while he was a pragmatic businessman” (West Cork Podcast). The crisis came at Christmas 1981, when Sophie abruptly left home leaving her infant son behind with his father. Initially she went to her parents, and then she stayed with a man called Jean Senet, with whom she had a brief intimate relationship. She got her son Pierre-Louis back a month later via a ruse. One of her aunts came on the pretext to check up on the baby and while there, took him back to Sophie. This story suggests there must have been some tension regarding the care of the infant. Why couldn’t Sophie fetch him for herself? Did she leave her child behind willingly?
If there was some dispute over custody, they did sort out a shared custody agreement and finalized the divorce in 1983. She started another job selling valuable collectable editions of the Bible and Koran. Sophie rented an apartment on Rue Rambuteau and moved into there with her son. According to Pierre Louis, they were relatively poor at this time, but had enough to get by. She kept this apartment until her death in 1996.
Shortly after her murder, Josie Hellen, her housekeeper in Cork, told several newspapers and the Gardai that sometime before her murder Sophie had confided in her that she was getting closer to her first husband again. In her first statement (taken on the day Sophie’s body was discovered) she said
Last year she re-united with her original husband and they came for a two or three day break in the house and Pierre was with them.
Josephine repeated this to several different newspapers, and referred to him as Pierre, so we can have no doubt that this is what she said and she was not misinterpreted. There is also evidence that Sophie told Bill Hogan the same thing, that she was thinking of leaving Daniel and returning to her first husband. However, Josephine’s account is at odds with Pierre-Jean who said he never visited the house before her death. Sophie’s year-planner for that time just records travel details that she took the ferry from St-Malo and that Carlo arrive by air a few days later on the 23rd April. There are no clues in the agenda as to whether there was a man with her at this time and if so who that might have been. There are references to Pierre-Jean, but only in connection with their son Pierre-Louis, e.g. “PL with his father until 19th August”
As to whether there was a rapprochement between them, there is no other source for this and Michel Larousse’s report denied this, saying “At no time did Sophie take steps to see her ex-husband again and get closer to him.” By 1996 Sophie and Pierre Jean had been separated for 15 years. Perhaps Josephine misinterpreted Sophie, or mistook Pierre-Jean for someone else. Sophie did travel to the house twice in the company of another man, Jean Marc Peyron, once together with her son Pierre-Louis and once alone with him. He was a work colleague and was known as a friend of hers. I have found no evidence they were intimate.
Her brother Bertrand said she had a number of relationships after her breakdown of her marriage but her focus remained her son, her career, family & friends.

February 17. On this date in 1956, a letter written on behalf of Shoghi Effendi to an individual believer stated that "all the Bahá'ís everywhere have been urged to give up their old affiliations and withdraw from membership in the Masonic and other secret Societies."

1388. Bahá'ís Requested to Withdraw from Masonic and Other Secret Societies
"As regards your question about Masonry, the Bahá'ís, the Guardian feels very strongly, must learn at the present time to think internationally and not locally. Although each believer realizes that he is a member of one great spiritual family, a member of the New World Order of Bahá'u'lláh, he does not often carry this thought through to its logical conclusion: which is that if the Bahá'ís all over the world each belong to some different kind of society or church or political party, the unity of the Faith will be destroyed, because inevitably they will become involved in doctrines and policies that are in some way against our Teachings, and often against another group of people in another part of the world, or another race, or another religious block.
"Therefore, all the Bahá'ís everywhere have been urged to give up their old affiliations and withdraw from membership in the Masonic and other secret Societies in order to be entirely free to serve the Faith of Bahá'u'lláh as a united body. Such groups as Masonry, however high the local standard may be, are in other countries gradually being influenced by the issues sundering the nations at present.
"The Guardian wants the Bahá'ís to disentangle themselves from anything that may in any way, now or in the future, compromise their independent status as Bahá'ís and the supra-national nature of their Faith."

On February 12, 1956, Shoghi Effendi addressed a letter to an individual believer addressing "Why Bahá'ís Are Requested to Withdraw from Membership in the Church, Synagogue, etc." explaining "that we are the building blocks of Bahá'u'lláh's New World Order ... the Bahá'ís should be absolutely independent, and stand identified only with their own teachings. That is why they are requested to withdraw from membership in the church, the synagogue, or whatever other previous religious organization they may have been affiliated with, to have nothing whatsoever to do with secret societies, or with political movements, etc. It protects the Cause, it reinforces the Cause, and it asserts before all the world its independent character."

1389. Why Bahá'ís Are Requested to Withdraw from Membership in the Church, Synagogue, etc.
"The point is not that there is something intrinsically wrong with Masonry, which no doubt has many very high ideals and principles, and has had a very good influence in the past.
"The reasons why the Guardian feels that it is imperative for the Bahá'ís to be dissociated from masonry at this time, and I might add, other secret associations, is that we are the building blocks of Bahá'u'lláh's New World Order ... the Bahá'ís should be absolutely independent, and stand identified only with their own teachings. That is why they are requested to withdraw from membership in the church, the synagogue, or whatever other previous religious organization they may have been affiliated with, to have nothing whatsoever to do with secret societies, or with political movements, etc. It protects the Cause, it reinforces the Cause, and it asserts before all the world its independent character.
"Another reason is that unfortunately the tremendous political influences in the world today are seeping deeper and deeper into men's minds; and movements which in the past were absolutely uninfluenced by any political tinge of thought now in many places are becoming infiltrated with political side-taking and political issues; and it becomes all the more important for the Bahá'ís to withdraw from them in order to protect the Faith.
"The Guardian believes that you, as an intelligent man, a Bahá'í, will see the need for this. It is only by all living according to general principles that we can knit the fabric of the Faith all over the world into a closer unity.
"He is fully aware that certain individuals are struck much more forcibly by such requests than others. This has been the case with some of the old Bahá'ís in England, who have been Masons from their boyhood on; but, as it is his duty to protect the Faith, he can only appeal to the Bahá'ís to assist him in doing so; and to consider the general good, rather than their personal feelings, however deep they may be, in such matters."

'Abdu'l-Bahá had previously permitted membership in freemason lodges and non-Bahá’í religious organizations.
During his visit to London in 1911, 'Abdu’l-Bahá had the following interaction with a Christian...

A student of the modern methods of the higher criticism asked ‘Abdu’l-Bahá if he would do well to continue in the church with which he had been associated all his life, and whose language was full of meaning to him. ‘Abdu’l-Bahá answered: “You must not dissociate yourself from it. Know this; the Kingdom of God is not in any Society; some seekers go through many Societies as a traveller goes through many cities till he reach his destination. If you belong to a Society already do not forsake your brothers. You can be a Bahá’í-Christian, a Bahá’í-Freemason, a Bahá’í-Jew, a Bahá’í-Muḥammadán. The number nine contains eight, and seven, and all the other numbers, and does not deny any of them. Do not distress or deny anyone by saying ‘He is not a Bahá’í!’

During his tour of North America in 1912, coverage in news stories would report this comment.
For example, on February 18, 1912, an article in "The Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Press" featured an article stating "In some respects the Bahá’í movement is the most remarkable of modern times. It isn’t a religion, in the sense that Christianity and Mohammedism and other faiths are religions. Its followers belong to many diverse sects, remaining Christian or Mohammedan or Brahmin as the case may be, and still being thorough going Bahis." During his visit to London in 1911, 'Abdu’l-Bahá had stated that "You can be a Bahá’í-Christian, a Bahá’í-Freemason, a Bahá’í-Jew, a Bahá’í-Muḥammadán."
And on February 28, 1912, the "SFO Daily News" of San Francisco featured an article stating "In some respects the Bahá’í movement is the most remarkable of modern times. Similarly, on September 1, 1912, "The Oregonian" of Portland, Oregon carried an article about ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, introducing him as the "Leader of Religions Movement Which Claims Three Million Followers" and quoting his statement "When in London he was approached by a student of higher criticism who asked ‘Abdu’l-Bahá if he should continue in the church. ‘Abdu’l-Bahá replied: “Yes, you must not dissociate yourself from it. Know this: the Kingdom of God is not in any society. If you belong to a society already do not forsake your brothers. You can be a Bahá’í-Christian, a Bahá’í-Freemason, a Bahá’í-Jew, Bahá’í-Mohammedan.”
In fact, 'Abdu'l-Bahá had encouraged the Bahá’ís of Manchester to emulate the freemasons...

October 1921
In the Name of God! O Sincere Servant of the Blessed Beauty!
Your detailed letter has been received, and has been the cause of the utmost joy and gladness. Praise be to God! The loved ones are all astir and active, but prudence is necessary. You have rent the veil too widely asunder. Explain to the loved ones that the rending of the veil to such an extent will be the cause of great agitation, and the harm thereof will reach to the Holy Land. Great caution is necessary. Discourses in churches and great public gatherings are in no wise permitted as in this place enemies, within and without, are lying in wait and are bent on aggression. Prudence requires that activity should, for the present, be concealed and carried on with the utmost moderation. Convey to the loved ones, one and all, on my behalf, the greatest longing, love and kindness. Give a spiritual message from me to Mr. Healds and say unto him: “Peruse the Gospel, how His Holiness Christ – may my life be a sacrifice to Him – says, ‘Conceal it, that the Pharisees may not be informed thereof.’ Now the same condition prevails.”
This matter is of the greatest importance. On no account let them contribute articles to the newspapers, and so long as they are not sure of any soul, let them breath no word to him. Consider how the Freemasons have for two hundred years carried on their work, and unto this day they have not openly declared it to any soul. Not until they find a hearing ear will they speak. The loved ones too must proceed with the greatest prudence, lest serious difficulties be created. If any one should travel to the Holy Land, he must on no account declare to anyone by the way that his purpose is to visit us. The loved ones must, in the presence of strangers, speak forth simply the teachings of the Blessed Beauty and mention no word of the belief concerning Him. Should anyone inquire, “What is your belief regarding the Blessed Beauty?” let them answer: “We regard Him as the foremost teacher and educator of these later ages and Abdu’l-Baha as the Centre of His Covenant.”

Numerous statements by Shoghi Effendi and the Universal House of Justice would later contradict these statements, with Bahá’ís being explicity prohibited from associating with any other faiths.
On July 24, 1953, a letter written on behalf of Shoghi Effendi to the Spiritual Assembly of Japan stated that "So far as non-Bahá'ís affiliating with the Bahá'í Faith is concerned, either a person becomes a Bahá'í and accepts Bahá'u'lláh as the divine Manifestation for this day, or he does not...they can only become Bahá'ís on the basis of accepting Bahá'u'lláh as a divine Manifestation, and of course, with this goes the acceptance of the Bab as the Forerunner, and Abdu'l-Bahá as the Center of the Covenant, and the present Administrative Order. When a person has reached the sea of immortality, it is idle to keep seeking elsewhere."

1384. Affiliation with Faith Alone is Insufficient
"So far as non-Bahá'ís affiliating with the Bahá'í Faith is concerned, either a person becomes a Bahá'í and accepts Bahá'u'lláh as the divine Manifestation for this day, or he does not. The tenets of the Bahá'í Faith are simple as outlined by the Guardian, but they do not permit of any variations. In other words, if any members of the ... Movement wish to become Bahá'ís, they will be most welcome; but they can only become Bahá'ís on the basis of accepting Bahá'u'lláh as a divine Manifestation, and of course, with this goes the acceptance of the Bab as the Forerunner, and Abdu'l-Bahá as the Center of the Covenant, and the present Administrative Order.

1387. Bahá'ís Belonging to Churches, Synagogues, Freemasonry and the Like
"As regards the question of Bahá'ís belonging to churches, synagogues, Freemasonry, etc., the friends must realize that now that the Faith is over 100 years old, and its own institutions arising, so to speak, rapidly above-ground, the distinctions are becoming ever sharper, and the necessity for them to support whole-heartedly their own institutions and cut themselves off entirely from those of the past, is now clearer than ever before. The eyes of the people of the world are beginning to be focused on us; and, as humanity's plight goes from bad to worse, we will be watched ever more intently by non-Bahá'ís, to see whether we do uphold our own institutions wholeheartedly; whether we are the people of the new creation or not; whether we live up to our beliefs, principles and laws in deed as well as word. We cannot be too careful. We cannot be too exemplary.
"There is another aspect to this question which the friends should seriously ponder, and that is that, whereas organizations such as Freemasonry may have been in the past entirely free from any political taint, in the state of flux the world is in at present, and the extraordinary way in which things become corrupted and tainted by political thought and influences, there is no guarantee that such an association might not gradually or suddenly become a political instrument. The less Bahá'ís have to do, therefore, with such things, the better."

On November 21, 1968, a letter of the Universal House of Justice to the National Spiritual Assembly of Switzerland stated that "If a person is registered as a member of a church or similar religious organization he should withdraw from it on becoming a Bahá'í...one cannot be a Bahá'í and also a member of another religious organization...For a Bahá'í to be a member of a community which holds such beliefs is disloyalty to Christ and hypocrisy towards the Christians."

532. On Becoming a Bahá'í Should Withdraw from Church
"If a person is registered as a member of a church or similar religious organization he should withdraw from it on becoming a Bahá'í.
"In the case of new believers, it should be made clear to them in the course of teaching them the Faith that one cannot be a Bahá'í and also a member of another religious organization. This is simply a matter of straight-forwardness and honesty. A great part of the teaching of Jesus Christ concerned His Second Coming and the preparation of His followers to be ready for it. The Bahá'ís believe He has come. No Christian Church believes this; on the contrary, they either look for Him still, or have ceased to believe that He will come. For a Bahá'í to be a member of a community which holds such beliefs is disloyalty to Christ and hypocrisy towards the Christians.
"You should not formalize the method by which the withdrawal from the church is to be made, and certainly nothing should be added to a declaration form, if you use one. It should be left to the Local Spiritual Assembly which is accepting the declaration to satisfy itself, as it deems best in each case, that the new believer has already resigned from the church, or does so within a reasonable time of his declaration.
"In regard to the old believers, your Assembly should tactfully, and in a kindly way, make the Bahá'í position clear to them and gently persuade them to resign from their former churches. This is a matter for great tact and discretion. If such a believer remains adamant you will have to consider depriving him of his voting rights."

“In the city of Dreams Mumbai, Karishma (name changed to stay anonymous for safety reasons) came with aspiratrion. she started her journey in world of modelling & film industry. At the age of 22, Karishma's career was beginning to explore Lokhandwala strugglers community to seize every opportunity that came her way.
One such opportunity came after 8 months of doing small projects around the city when Karishma was approached by Mr. Poet from an Insurance Company looking for fresh talent for modelling. She got excited by the prospect of working with a big company.
This is the story in her own words with actual recounts of her traumatized experience with above company.
I threw myself into this work, and not so later met the person in charge, I don’t want to name him but we can call him Mr Poet, a charming yet manipulative gentleman in his fifties I guess like my father's age. At first, Mr. Poet seemed like a supportive mentor, offering guidance and praise for my talent. However, as time went on, his behaviour took a sinister turn.
Mr. Poet started sending messages to me like he had become a big fan of my modelling work. There was no communication filter any time he would send on WhatsApp from different numbers, He was smart to keep business conversation on one number and non professional on another.
Initial conversations were just praises how much he admired me and after a few weeks he told me that he has a secret to share with me. He told me that he knew me before I had started working for him.
He mentioned he used to watch me near Lokhandwala back road cafés and dreamed making me a big Model in the industry. This was his only dream he said. He eventually offered me many projects and limelight of media which I later believed he was actually paying to get closer to me . Mr. Poet was following me around the city. Surprised ?
He knew all my Bio-data, had influenced my Gym manager to share my personal details. He told me he had some kind of data base of women he wanted to make big stars, super models, female nutritionists, and female entrepreneurs on some backup drive. He was also following social media of my close friends, my sister and sister's friends her daughters and anyone close to me.
He was grooming me like a child, promising and insisting on how much he will improve my career ,manage my social media, portfolio shooting with his camera team, he often sent me very personalized gifts or for anyone around my friend circle. He always made payments for my work in cash keeping it secret separate from company. However he felt like he was always okay to support as a mentor or today if I feel he was a “crazy psycho pedophile”.
Social media account was mostly fake & paid money for follower’s likes and comments. His own company's social or corporate accounts didnt had any direction or awareness. Yet his promise to make me a star was a big or very bad dream to wonder about.

Few months of doing modeling and event projects for him he told me he has big plans for my career and will invest to make me a super model which at the end were lies and a pattern to stay close to him.
Suddenly told me that he was in love with me and I am like a goddess to him, He knew I was engaged. My fiancé lived in other city, in a 7-year-long relationship. Mr. Poet was married with kids seemed like a normal family, I thought he is joking & not serious about what he was writing so I kept on ignoring his behavior.
Gradually I started living is fear what if my fiancé or my family saw his WhatsApp messages. I used to delete or keep the phone on silent mode . One day my fiancé accidently read and he felt like I was cheating on him.
Once Mr. Poet asked me to visit Pune for some company’s event, he said he will book my hotel stay. I feel lucky today I didn’t go as I was busy with another project,
I remember we were sitting in a café and his staff (Mr. Jaanbaz name changed) called him about and he scolded him very much. When I asked what happened he said “ wo Mad**Ch*d 2 or 3 lac cash delay kara diya yummy mummy Ka, and koi sir saath me tha madamji ke” i heard this on phone.
Another incident he sent me to an event in Delhi and book my flights and hotel arrangements too. After the event he was drunk and started talking about his lonely boloney life and put his hand on my shoulder, he insisted to go to the hotel room to discuss more business opportunities. I got very scared and made an excuse to visit my family in Noida and left.
After this incident, i never went back to work for him. He kept apologizing and went on like old radio non-stop. Insisted that some media agency will deal with me. I have had enough by that time. The feeling of dependency on him had made me a weak person,scared and alone.
My career seemed to had ended with no hope and no one to talk to after years of persistent mental torture.
Because of my ambitious nature, he was able to take advantage of me, steal my happiness, my friends, and my family. I should have realized when I think back what happened. My friends had raised alarms to me what happens in media world and film industry but I never listened to them , I always though they are jesalous of my success.
I never said No to him, never asked him to stop sending very personal long texts in a professional relationship, it was always just Yes Sir.
I never dismissed it as it first seemed harmless, friendly praises in the struggler industry seem ok to come through. You Imagine that he has not physically touched you but he has touched me in his mind long before he tried to put his hands on my body, he has felt me or on my sister's daughter jerking-off in his filthy mind.
I know 2 models who have recounted the same story before covid 19 or even today he must be preying & fooling someone else with same lies and habitual targeting, verbal harresment pattern, how he molds your life choices, using his power of money and political connections to influence decision-making capability, cuts off your friends, follows you around kyu ki inki“ Life me bohat akelapan hai’’.
I behaved very naïvely. One can admit their mistake too but it is Mr. Poet to blame, Even before you had met him he already knew how to handle & and manipulate your actions and emotions. Everything looked real but it’s all fake glitter he makes one believe with some money.
I have heard him talking to his son in such vulgar language like a typical abusive person “Ma*, Behan* when he gets drunk”.
You may think my experience with Mr. Poet was not that horrid, like other women in #Metoo. He didn’t explicitly try and force sex on me. But, i realize that psychologically, he still mentally had his hands and mouth around me.
So, every time he made a “Yes I’m a fan or a flirt or just being a friendly joke, you’re just so stunning” comment was very unprofessional. I never shut it down. I would laugh it off… and hope for the best. Because the difference between saying “BACK THE FUCK OFF, Bhaiya.” and, “Ha ha, Yes sir’ !” is a matter of safety for women. We stay silent that is the big mistake
