2024.05.21 19:37 Jdawg_mck1996 Completely lost with my TDI

Bought a Pre Owned Jetta TDI last year. love the thing to death. Great mileage, comfortable, etc. just didn't realize how much maintenance goes into a diesel.
Over the last 5 weeks, I've had the engine flushed, Oil/fuel/air filters replaced, and the emissions system and DPF cooked out. Whole thing ran me a little over $3k and I was still throwing code for soot levels and a manifold runner. Mechanic told me it was probably the O2 sensor and that they'd order new parts and call me when they came in.
Well yesterday coming home the fucker died on me. Started with a rattling under the chassis and the engine started to lose power. Then I blew smoke from the exhaust. Started white, turned jet black, then cleared. Immediately followed by the engine redlining above 8k RPMS and the vehicle wanting to take off on me even if my foot wasn't on the gas.
We rolled a little less than a quarter mile before she stopped, turned off, and then refused to start back up.
I have absolutely zero clue what the hell is going on and the dealership won't have a spot to even look at it for 8 weeks. Local guy won't touch it anymore.

2024.05.21 19:28 Tasty_Clerk5945 “Where the filters at?!”

Air filters? Water filters? Refrigerator filters? I got a cigarette butt in my pocket, ya want the filter out of that? There’s business cards all around this place if you want me to roll you a joint filter. Are you looking for an oil filter? What kind of fuckin filter do you need? I’m not professor Charles fuckin Xavier, I can’t read your mind. Please be specific. Thank you, asshole.

2024.05.21 18:58 NeverKnowinG 2010 Mazda 6 2.5L manual. Help with a misfire I'm struggling with

I was periodically having the car throw a misfire code on start ups, maybe happened once a month at most but I never felt or heard anything. A few days ago it become constant, and sounds more like a putting sound than a typical knock but the engine is shaking pretty strong. Says misfire in Cylinder 4. I changed the spark plugs, which I had found oil on 3/4 of them with only cylinder 1 being the dry one, and swapped positions of the coil packs in case those were the issue and it stayed the same. Fresh oil, coolant is also fresh, and air filter is good. My assumption at this point is it is losing compression from something but I don't have a way to test it and all the local shops were jammed up and unable to test for me. Any ideas of what I can do? Car is at 215k miles and beat to hell but I cant afford to replace the thing. It also weirdly seems to stop misfiring at highway speeds. I cannot feel or hear anything once I'm at 55mph.

2024.05.21 18:57 primarist Calculate filtered measure based on lookup value

Okay, here's one I've been banging my head on the wall about for a few hours. I have an order level drill though page where most of the charts show data for a single order placed by a customer. However, there are two charts that need to show that customer's full order history by date, regardless of the order number drill filter. The tricky thing is that the only context this page receives is the order number filter as I have the "Keep all filters" option turned off.

So in short, I need to get the customer ID based on the order number that is passed into the drill through, and then calculate some quantity that the level of that customer ID. Here is a mock example of the data and intended output:
ORDER_NUM CUSTOMER QUANTITY DATE
1 A 10 1/1/2020
2 A 15 1/2/2020
3 A 20 1/3/2020
4 B 3 1/1/2020
5 B 6 1/2/2020
6 B 9 1/3/2020

With a drill through filter of ORDER_NUM = 2, all other measures on this page will output the following data, as they are subject to the drill filter:
ORDER_NUM CUSTOMER QUANTITY DATE
2 A 15 1/2/2020

However, this measure would remove the filter on ORDER_NUM and add a filter on CUSTOMER A, outputting the following data, broken out by date (in this case in a line chart):
ORDER_NUM CUSTOMER QUANTITY DATE
1 A 10 1/1/2020
2 A 15 1/2/2020
3 A 20 1/3/2020

Here is some of the DAX I've tried that unfortunately doesn't work:
MEASURE = VAR lookup = LOOKUPVALUE(Transactions[CustomerID], Transactions[Order Number], SELECTEDVALUE(Transactions[Order Number],1)) VAR filtered_output = CALCULATE(SUM(Quantity), REMOVEFILTERS(Transactions[Order Number]), FILTER(Transactions, Transactions[CustomerID] = lookup)) RETURN filtered_output

Any ideas here? I'm actually not certain why that DAX doesn't work because it seems to correctly select the lookup value, but there are issues with it.

2024.05.21 17:34 oudphase Honda Concerto 1991 1.5i loses revs in low gear when engine is warm

Hey! I recently purchased the car listed above. Everything is running elegantly except for the fact that after some time the car as it warms up stops holding the revs and they gradually drop until it comes to the point of coughing, shaking the car once or twice and everything goes back to normal for a while. I've replaced the spark plugs for the moment, noticed that the ignition dome has had enough so I've also ordered a new one, new filters are on their way, oil change also coming soon. What else should I look at? Where to look for the fault?

2024.05.21 17:25 Hitman2504 Oil change questions

Hello fellow VB owners. I know a lot of people post about oil changes but there were a few things I couldn’t seem to find. I’m in the process of gathering stuff I’ll need to do my oil changes and had a few questions. Firstly I see a lot of people jack the car up and put it on stands.. is this necessary? Does anyone just change the oil with the car on the ground parked? I plan to get the Fumoto quick drain valve does it come with the hose. Lastly what type of oil and filters do people prefer. Lastly any other random bits of info that would be helpful?

2024.05.21 17:22 Intelligent_Storm120 99 Ducati SuperSport 900ie

99 Ducati SuperSport 900ie
Photo for attention.
So I might be grasping at straws here but I have an issue that is super intermittent and leaves me stranded every time I go on a ride longer than around my house/ neighborhood. Bike runs great when it does but then outta no where I loose all throttle response. At idle rpm it’s perfectly fine but as soon as I blip the throttle it wants to die out. But if I let go of the throttle and return it to idle it will stay running. Around 1100-1500 rpm. Anything above that I dies out. A little background it’s a 1999 SS 900ie fuel injected 9100 miles. Replaced the fuel pump and connector because the pins kept pushing out, spark plugs air filter, oil change when I bought it about a month ago. It drove great for the first day and after that it went to shit.
Now I just went to start the bike and move it outta the garage and I turned the key on, the pump primed, I leaned up and the kick stand has a really strong spring on it it slammed into the frame into the up position and when it did that I heard the pump prime again and again and again as I kept dropping the kick stand.
My question here is that normal for that to happen when I let the kick stand go or is there a lose connecting shaking or relay going out causing it to happen? The bike doesn’t have a kick stand switch on it.
Or is there something else I need to look at? My next replacement parts was gonna be fuel pressure regulator, injectors and coils/wires. And it’s due for timing belts and valve adjustment at 10k miles. Before I spend the money on belts and valve adjustment I’d like to get this thing reliable enough to drive 20 minutes and not have to worry about needing a tow home. Any input would be appreciated and thank you in advance

2024.05.21 17:03 stefan2207 Advice on first time Scirocco

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202403278018421
I am looking at getting this 62 plate 1.4 DSG Petrol (160) Scirocco. It has 3 month warranty and they say 40k oil and filter service was done. No mention about timing chain (is that an issue here still?). It is imported from Japan.
My questions:
  1. It has no MOT history past the initial MOT I'm assuming was completed here? Is this bad that they may have done a MOT with full pass themselves, and should I get it checked elsewhere and use that as my 3 month warranty.
  2. Is the 98 RON petrol absolutely required for this model as I believe it's an R? Or would 95 RON have any effect past "lower" performance.
Let me know if this looks worth it?

2024.05.21 16:59 p5ychopa7h '99 honda civic occasionally chokes

recently i bought a '99 honda civic 1.4 iS (D14Z2). the only thing I had done with it was changing the air filter and motor oil. 2 days ago it occasionally stopped reacting to gas, for example: if I go at a constant speed, sometimes engine reacts as if I let go of the gas, (the gas pedal is in the same position) only if I let go of the gas and step on it again it helps. Sometimes it also chokes: reacts to gas for half a second and stops reacting, reacts, stops etc. Sometimes it's so bad it stalls and then there is a problem with starting it. Day before this problem I measured the compression and it was 14 bar at every cylinder. The car was running excellent before that, and there weren't any problems with it. I think that there is no pattern to when it chokes and it happens randomly, but I'm not 100% sure. Any suggestions what could be the problem or where should I start searching?

2024.05.21 16:33 achyutpdl Trying to do engine swap or fix the issue by myself

Hello All,
I am a newbie and have done basic jobs like changing oil, filters etc before. I have never changed an engine before. Recently my step truck which is 1991 Chevy P30 with 350 TBI v5.7 v8 engine started to acting up. The engine doesnot start easy and stops when I put it in drive or reverse. I have to drive the truck with 2 feet so that it doesnot stop in the signals etc. I feel like the engine has to be changed as I did the compression test which shows low compression in one cylinder. I cheked in my area and there are not many shop which work on a big step van. The ones who do are asking crazy amount. I was planning on buying a new engine or a used one and swap the engine by myself.
  1. How big of the job is it? What should I know before doing jobs like this? Where do I learn from?
  2. Where do I get the engine from? New and old?
  3. What are the tools needed?
  4. Is this a good forum where I can post pictures if I am confused of anything?
  5. Any tips/tricks ideas?

2024.05.21 16:33 Beneficial-Yogurt-81 2024 maintenance and fuel

So I am a big toyota fan, and I am getting my money together to buy the 2024 TRD off-road. And I want some thoughts and opinions on the maintenance and fuel octane level. I have come to realize thru research that a turbo vehicle needs oil changes and air filters more frequently than NA vehicles. And that pre ignition is a big problem when using low octane fuel. The truck calls for 87 to be used, can I trust that this won't eventually kill. The engine? And how often would you change the oil and filter to be safe. Also if there are other maintenance details that need to be discussed, please add.

18k mile service cost for 2023 Forrester Limited?
What should the average cost be for this service? Seems like a normal oil change and tire rotation. I called the dealer and they told me over $250!
This is my wife’s car. I called the mechanic use for my car and he said it will be under $100 (usually $60-80) which has always been the case for when I service my car with him.

2024.05.21 16:25 Useful-Resident78 2012 Honda CRV - ATF drain and fill?

Hi, I had the dealer do a full flush of the ATF @ 80k, they flushed and replaced 12qts of DW-1. I'm close to 145K miles now. Non Honda Mechanic says to only do a drain and flush.
Thoughts on this? Is this something that I can do without ruining the transmission? I change my own oil (I know, I know, it's not terribly difficult) and filter.... Or should I have the shop do it?

I was wondering what everyone was running as far as oil filters go. Since we're on the topic, what brand of oil too. I've been seeing and reading these Mazda filters are the way to go so I ordered a couple. I'll be running Motul 5w 30 when I change the oil. 2024.05.21 14:47 cloutboicade_ 10 Foods You Should Never Eat

  1. Corn - Almost all corn, specifically in the US and Canada is produced by Monsanto seed. This is a man-made corn, which has been genetically modified and/or is a hybrid corn. It’s been processed. This corn was specifically developed by Monsanto to be fed to cows for them to put on fat quickly and grow fast. The more corn you eat, the fatter you get. It’s not the original, as nature intended it to be food. It causes allergic reactions to all degrees. Avoid anything with the word corn in it “Corn syrup solids”, “high fructose corn syrup”, “cornflower”, “corn starch”, “cornflakes”, etc. Look at the ingredients, if it has the word corn then avoid it. Monsanto is an American agricultural biotechnology and agrochemical company that was founded in 1901 by John Francis Queeny in St. Louis, Missouri. The company's products include glyphosate herbicides, crop seeds, and vegetables. Monsanto is best known for its herbicide Roundup, which is based on glyphosate. The company also produces genetically modified seeds, such as those that can tolerate glyphosate, which kills weeds without affecting the crop. What happened to Monsanto? Ethical Consumer
  2. Artificial Sweeteners - 2 main ones: Aspartame(nutrasweet) & Sucralose. Stay away from these two. These are found in diet sodas. These fall into a category called exito-toxins. They are chemically addictive. It’s the “new crack”. It affects the neuro-transmitter activity and the serotonin levels in your brain. This means these artificial sweeteners make you anxious, stressed, and depressed. They are in any diet product. If you see “no sugar”, it may be a marketing ploy - they want to convince you it has lower calories and some type of artificial sweetener. You find these. The actual foods or drinks taste horrible, but the aspartame and sucralose make it taste better. Fast food study
  3. Pork - A pig will eat anything. Scientists now know that whatever the pig eats turns to meat on its bones. The meat you eat puts toxicity in your body.
  4. Shellfish - More people get sick and/or die from eating “bad” shellfish than any other food group. Many people are also allergic to it more than any other food group. Shellfish isn't just a fish that comes in a shell like a scallop, mussel, lobster, clam, crab. It’s any fish in water that does not have scales and fins. Stay away from anything that comes out of the water with no scales and fins. Catfish has fins but no scales, stay away. Squid/Octopus stay away from. These non-scale/fin animals are called “filters”. They absorb whatever toxins that are in the water and they keep that in their flesh, which is eaten. This is also the law of kashra, the kosher laws - pork and shellfish fall into the kosher law category. It states that you can eat anything on the ground that has a split hoof and chews to cut. Which is why you don’t eat pork. Also, don’t eat anything that doesn’t have a split hoof and chews to cut like a bear(has a paw). States you should eat fish with fins and scales. The Kashrut Laws
  5. Hydrogenated Oils (Trans fats) - Look on the label. It says hydrogenated oil. These scar your arteries and lead to heart attack. It messes with hormones and affects sleep. Makes you hungrier and fatter. Affects immune system.
  6. Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) - Buy foods that say no GMO’s. The majority of the ingredients have not been modified. With GMO, foods are modified.
  7. Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) - Falls into the same category as artificial sweeteners, it is an exito-toxin. Messes with neuro-transmitter activity, makes you hungrier, makes you thirsty, makes the body store extra fluid in fat cells making you gain weight, bloady, and fat. It increases fat cells and makes them bigger. KFC, Taco Bell, etc all have this.
  8. Wheat - If you live in Italy, this doesn't apply. Youdon’t want wheat that's come from Canada or USA because it's only been fermented for 48 hours. This is tough because how can you determine that? Duran-wheat means it's from Italy. This is trustworthy. If you can reduce the amount of wheat you consume, you’ll be better off because the majority of wheat hasn't been fermented for 48 hours. Its high gluten wheat, causes types of gas, bloating, allergic reactions, weight gain, etc. Make sure all your pasta comes from Italy (Organic product of Italy). If you make your own pasta, buy flour from italy. Same goes for bread in USA.
  9. Soy - All over the world. Almost all soy now comes from Monsanto seed. It’s been genetically modified and causes all types of intestinal problems and reduces testosterone. Same with corn, soy is everywhere - “soybean oil”. Soy-bean oil is very cheap. Even if it’s organic,it can still be genetically modified.
  10. Corn-fed beef & anything dairy that doesn't come from grass fed cows - Stay away from homogenized dairy. Cows eat grass. But in the industry, cows are fed Monsanto genetically altered corn to make them fat and get them to the supermarket quicker. Cows don't eat grain in real life, they eat grass. When a cat is fed corn and grain it will get fatter faster. In the commercial feed that's fed to cows, there is ground up dead cows, horses, other animals that were so diseased they couldn't be put into the food chain. But they'll feed it to a cow which is supposed to be a vegetarian only eating grass. This cow gets diseased as well. Those animals were injected with bovine growth hormones and massive amounts of antibiotics. When you eat beef, your testost. score goes down, you put your body in toxic shock, because of the growth hormone, which makes you fatter. These beefs don't have much CLA which is the acid in the beef that increases testosterone. Buy 100% organic grass fed beef and dairy. Buy raw cheese that comes from France or switzerland.

2024.05.21 14:45 EldonAXe Extremely Itchy skin after showers!

I'm at a loss here. I'm trying to figure out what to do about my itchy skin following showers. First off, I have sensitive skin. I used to breakout very easily and had a skin allergy, over the years that allergy has lessened and in some cases doesn't bother me at all. I continue to use gentler products on my skin, I lotion everyday especially after showers or baths. But lately, nothing works when it comes to the itchiness my skin experiences after a shower or bath. The itching could last for an hour to all day.
I recently moved to the Tacoma area in Washington and I'm 32 weeks pregnant with my first child. Ever since moving here I have experience extreme itching all over my legs and some parts of my upper body. First, I tried Cera Ve Extreme Itch Relief and even put it in the fridge for a cooking affect on my skin. That didn't help. I'd even put ice packs on my skin to stop myself from itching. It was only a temporary relief solution. I looked up at home solutions and if my pregnancy could be a factor. Online suggested it could be the humidity in the air (or lack thereof) so I got a humidifer that I run every night. It also said pregnancy could trigger eczema. At my OB, appointment, I spoke to my physician who thought it could be an allergy and gave me medicine. She also suggested using Aveeno's Oatmeal bath packets followed by their lotion. Despite having taken those pills for several weeks and using the Aveeno products, I'm still severely itchy. I looked again online and saw that the hard water from my home could be a factor. The landlord will not allow me to add a water softener system to the home so I purchased a shower head filter which I installed. However, after showering again, I was still itchy all over and it feels like bugs biting me. It's not a type of itch that I can simply ignore. It's almost painful and I'm forced to scratch.
Does anyone have any help? Any other ideas?
Products I use: ALL Free and Clear washing detergent, Dove Shea butter soap bar, Aveeno Oatmeal Lotion, Passion and Beyond Deep Clean Cooling Shampoo and Conditioner, and Palmers Cocoa Butter lotion and oil for my growing belly.
TIA!
