VANCOUVER, British Columbia, May 21, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Brixton Metals Corporation (TSX-V: BBB, OTCQB: BBBXF) (the “ Company ” or “ Brixton ”) is pleased to announce that its Thorn exploration camp is now open for the season and drilling has commenced. Brixton is fully funded for the 2024 exploration program with plans to drill test several new copper porphyry targets, including the Trifecta, Cirque, and North Copper Targets, in addition to further drilling at the Camp Creek Porphyry Target. The Thorn Project is situated within the traditional territory of the Tahltan and Taku River Tlingit First Nations.
2024 Thorn Exploration Plan Highlights:
  • The 2024 exploration plan consists of 12,000-17,000 meters of drilling across several target areas, collecting 2500 rock and soil samples, as well as a ~90 sq km ground MT Geophysics survey.
  • Drilling has begun at the Camp Creek Copper Porphyry Target to test for a high-grade copper core to the Camp Creek porphyry. This first hole THN24-286 is being drilled from the same pad as the 2023 hole, THN23-277, where copper abundance as chalcopyrite and quartz vein density are increasing downhole. The bottom 84 meters of hole 277 (957-1041m) returned 0.25% Copper, 0.09 g/t Gold, 3.78 g/t Silver and 142 g/t molybdenum, including 2m of 0.66% copper, 0.24 g/t gold, 12.0 g/t silver from 1032.88m. Hole 277 did not reach its target depth due to poor ground conditions.
  • The second Camp Creek hole is planned as a northwest step out from holes 184 and 201. Hole 184 ended at 1198m in strong copper mineralization with the bottom of the hole returning 318m of 0.42% copper, 0.17 g/t gold, 3.87 g/t silver, and 294 g/t molybdenum, and hole 201 intersected 150m of 0.60% copper, 0.19 g/t gold, 5.12 g/t silver and 391 g/t molybdenum. The objective is to test for a high-grade copper core to the Camp Creek porphyry.
  • The Trifecta Copper Target is located 1.5km southeast of Camp Creek and may be drill tested based on recent surface copper-in-rock and soil results and historical drilling, which returned encouraging copper-molybdenum results. The objective of this work is to search for a new porphyry copper center.
  • The Cirque Copper-Molybdenum Target is located 3km east of Camp Creek where drilling will test for a potential new porphyry center.
  • The North Copper Target area is located 15km northwest of Camp Creek, centered on a large surface copper anomaly. Drilling is planned upon completion of the MT survey and additional mapping and sampling with the objective of confirming a new copper porphyry center.
Watch Chairman and CEO, Gary Thompson, provide a summary of the 2024 drill program.
Chairman and CEO Gary R. Thompson stated: “ The Brixton team is excited to kick off the 2024 season. The Company has $12.5 million budgeted for the Thorn Project in exploration expenditures with the focus on new copper-gold porphyry mineralization. The scale of surface copper-gold mineralization is remarkable and Brixton is well positioned to generate new discoveries.”

About Camp Creek Porphyry Target
The original discovery of the Camp Creek Corridor was made by Cominco geologists in 1952 who identified the intense acid sulphate alteration in the area. However, it was not until 2019 when chalcopyrite-molybdenum veined clasts were observed below 400m depth within drill hole 150 on the Oban diatreme breccia which cut 554.70m of 0.57 g/t Au, 0.24% Cu, 43.18 g/t Ag, 0.55% Zn, and 0.28% Pb from 97.00m depth, providing evidence for a porphyry at depth. In addition, A-type porphyry veins were identified from relogging hole 121. Drill hole THN13-121 at the Glenfiddich Zone (located one kilometer west from hole 150) cut 2.21m of 10.62% copper, 583.05 g/t silver, and 2.55 g/t gold from a massive enargite-tetrahedrite-pyrite vein. The copper porphyry at Camp Creek was a blind discovery confirmed in 2021 when holes 183 and 184 were drilled below 1000m. The Camp Creek porphyry-style mineralization generally starts 300-400 meters below the surface level and remains open in all directions including at depth. Hole THN23-261 ended in mineralization at 1650m depth.

Figure 3. Hole THN23-277 photograph of mineralized core at 1032.88m depth from a 2.00m Interval that assayed 0.66% Cu, 112 ppm Mo, 12.0 g/t Ag, 0.24 g/t Au.

About the Trifecta Target
The Trifecta Target lies between the Camp Creek porphyry target, the Outlaw Sediment-hosted Gold Target, and the Chivas Porphyry Target. Surface mineralization is expressed as structurally controlled narrow quartz veining with pyrite and chalcopyrite. A massive magnetite-pyrite-chalcopyrite vein in outcrop with a sericitic halo surrounded by strong silicification was found during the 2023 field program that returned 2.46% Cu, 71.4 g/t Ag, and 0.36 g/t Au. The mineralization style at the Trifecta Target is thought to be related to a copper porphyry at depth.
About the Cirque Target
The Cirque Target area, located 3km northeast from the main Camp Creek drilling, was revisited in 2023, which identified a 1km by 2km northwest trending area of pyrite-chalcopyrite mineralization. Historic drilling in the Cirque area by Julian Mining in 1965 intercepted sporadic copper mineralization throughout thirteen holes. The best hole from the 1965 program returned 0.19% Cu and 710 ppm Mo over 10.67m. Quartz-chalcopyrite veins were sampled in the area to the northwest of this historic drilling returned 1.6% copper. Mineralization is hosted primarily in Windy-Table volcanics and associated intrusions. Silica-sericite-pyrite alteration throughout the target area and the widespread pyrite-chalcopyrite mineralization in conjunction with favorable magnetic signatures and anomalous porphyry-index indicators suggest that a potential Cu-Mo porphyry system at Cirque remains untested.
About the North Copper Target Area
In the northwest corner of the Thorn Project, the Copper Target comprises a 15km by 5km area located 15km northwest of Camp Creek. Mineralization consists of broad, pervasive zones of disseminated and vein-hosted pyrite with localized areas of chalcopyrite and molybdenite that may represent the periphery of a porphyry system, as well as higher-grade narrow polymetallic vein zones and skarn-style mineralization that are more representative of distal environments.
Widespread mineralization at the main gossan consists of a large area with abundant pyrite, locally up to 15%, and smaller areas of increased chalcopyrite, molybdenite, and magnetite coincident with a quartz-biotite-feldspar porphyry of undetermined age. Copper-molybdenite mineralization is found in quartz veins and as fracture-fill with samples in 2023 returning up to 0.7% Cu and 2,290 ppm Mo. The north gossan is comprised of extensive pyrite with lesser chalcopyrite and distal galena with up to 5% pyrite and trace molybdenite in a hornblende granodiorite directly east of the area. Mineralization at the south gossan is predominantly associated with trace pyrite, chalcopyrite, and magnetite mineralization within a potassium feldspar megacrystic porphyry.
Higher-grade polymetallic mineralization is generally concentrated along the margins of Late Cretaceous dykes with silicified vein breccias extending 5-10 meters into the surrounding Laberge Group country rocks. The breccias are composed of sandstone and conglomerate of the Jurassic Laberge Group with quartz-pyrite-galena-sphalerite and trace sulfosalt and chalcopyrite filling the matrix.
A ground magnetotelluric (MT) geophysical survey of approximately 90 square kilometer in area is planned prior to drilling the King Copper Target.
2024 Gold Targets
While the dominant focus for 2024 at the Thorn Project is to drill test copper porphyry targets for new discovery, the Company continues to review gold targets for drill testing in 2024. These may include selective drilling at the Trapper Epithermal Gold Target (best intercept to date: 64m of 5.7 g/t Au), the Outlaw Sediment-hosted Gold Target (best intercept to date: THN-14-128 returned 59.65 meters of 1.15 g/t Au and 5.64 g/t Ag from a depth of 76 meters) and/or the Metla Target where surface rock grab samples to date returned up to 62.7 g/t Au.
MDRU Collaboration
Brixton Metals is collaborating with the University of British Columbia’s Mineral Deposit Research Unit as part of the BC Porphyry Study. An M.Sc. research project has commenced on the Camp Creek Porphyry Target with the goal of establishing geochemical and alteration vectors towards blind porphyry mineralization. In addition, an alteration mapping project is underway to characterize and map the large 4.1km x 3.9km alteration footprint centered around Camp Creek. With porphyry deposits frequently found in clusters, the use of petrographic, geochemical, and mineral spectrometer analyses will aid with vectoring outside of the currently drilled areas in order to identify additional potential porphyry centers.

2024.05.21 16:42 Linkinator7510 I hate chemistry.

It's true, I hate it, I used to love it back at GCSE, but now? Now I despise it, it's my biggest regret in life, taking a level chemistry, it's honestly ruined me. All of my chemistry grades are E's and U's. I have one singular C. On an end of topic test for enthalpy, where I revised for two weeks straight. And I barely got a C. The fuck am I supposed to do for my end of year mock? It's the 10th of June! I did a resit for my mock back in march, and I improved by 1 fucking mark! What will I do!? I can do nothing, I can start revising now but at most I'll probably get an E again. I fucking hate this subject. I should have taken sociology or history or something at least I would have enjoyed those. Sorry for the rant.

2024.05.21 16:32 kaibuprofen What would you do if you were me?

Hi everyone. I'm seeking some advice on kind of a complex situation. Law students would be really good to answer this but ofc anyone can answer.
I'm 21NB. I got pretty good GCSEs and went on to do A Levels. I always had a passion in Law so I picked that alongside Maths and Physics. My grades were - A in Law, B in Maths, and D in Physics. I also did an Extended Project Qualification (worth half an A Level) on the topic of North Korean law. I got a B.
Without getting into it too much, I have suffered with bad mental health issues most of my life but always tried not to let that hold me back. I have pretty much always been getting professional help at any given time.
Once I finished in 2021 I decided I wanted to do a degree in Law with the hope of becoming a criminal barrister. I got into a university that was quite far from home and moved into halls. Everything was fine at first, but my mental health got really bad and it would have been unsafe to stay. Very hard decision but I dropped out a few months into the first year (2022).
I moved back home and spent the next year and a bit really working on myself. I got a job in a shop (upper part time, sometimes full time) to get some income and help me keep occupied. I decided I was well enough to go back to university and try again, starting September 2023 (in Law again). I intentionally chose a university much nearer to home, but opted to move into halls again for the experience of that.
Unfortunately the same thing happened again, actually much worse this time because of certain things that happened. I left even earlier; November 2023. Again, an even harder decision to leave. I also quit my retail job. I originally interrupted my studies rather than withdrew, unlike the first time, with the intention of coming back in September 2024. It would be my 3rd time.
I contacted the university recently asking if I could change my status to withdrawn. I did this because:
  1. I'm still very unwell and am not optimistic that I could get through the degree safely. I also think even if I got through I wouldn't do very well.
  2. My mum, who I live with, is moving far so I'm planning to move to my dad's so that I'm closer to family down here. But, he's kinda far from the uni and I don't have a car yet.
  3. Withdrawing means I have full flexibility to go back anytime in my life if I wanted to. Meaning I don't have to put a date on my recovery (which you can't really do).
  4. I am beginning to realise maybe university is just not for me and I should try alternative routes like apprenticeships.
  5. I am questioning whether the Law profession in general is really suited to me, even though I am passionate about it. There are other things I would consider doing.
  6. I already have £16,000 in student loan debt.
Among other things.
I'm really embarrassed to say but I've been out of work or anything since November (I have been really ill but still feel guilty). One of the reasons I want to move to my dad's is so I can get a retail job down there (because if I was going to get a job here I would have to leave it in a few months so it feels like there is no point.) The move is happening in a week. While I'm working I also want to pass my driving test because I haven't done that yet.
I have been thinking a lot about what I could do going forward. I have been looking at solicitor degree apprenticeships but they're very competitive and all require A Levels Grade A-C... but I have a A, B, D. Goddammit Physics. Same with paralegal level 3 apprenticeships (which would give me a much better chance getting onto a solicitor one).
I have been looking at degree apprenticeships in general and they pretty much all have these A Level requirements.
Obviously these options are not exhaustive but if you were me, would you:
  1. Eventually go back to university and do Law again.
  2. Eventually go back to university but do a degree in another subject.
(Of course these two options would give me more student loan debt.)
  1. Try and get another A Level so that I can do these legal apprenticeships (because I can, but it's like £1,000. Plus that's two years of my life.)
  2. Completely change my career path and possibly do a level 3 apprenticeship (for example in hairdressing.)
I'm just very stressed about the future. I really want to succeed and not let this hold me back anymore.
Some examples of other things I would consider doing is nursing, something in music, hair & beauty, administration. To be honest I'd do anything except retail.
Thank you so much in advance.
TL;DR - I have dropped out of university twice because of mental health, want to pursue a career in Law yet at the same time wondering if it is even the right thing, reluctant to go back to university for a lot of reasons but can't get onto the legal apprenticeships with my A Level grades.

2024.05.21 16:30 Dry_Performer_7694 Internet Addiction

Hello everybody. I know the title sounds like a joke compare to many other addictions that exists in the world (nicotine cocaine crack etc) but i know i have an ddiction with my internet habits and I want to to stop. I've used it heavily since was like maybe 10/11. Now im 21 and I hope there's still time. I'm in college and I can do my day to day fine but the problem is that i have too much free time and whem im not with my friends(which is many times) or at college(it's a large chunck but negligible compare to internet time) I basically spend it on youtube insta twittter (mainly youtube). It reached a point where i cannot try new things: i tried gym a couple months startted strong and then basically stop going a couple of weeks ago. I tried to read books or meditate or do some exercise at home and obviously those things failed since it's so fucking boring. Like the fun hobbies are all far away from my home and even then i would be there for a very short time, for being out of shape for so long and having such a sedentery lifestyle. This addiction has also led to poor accademic performance. I've been struggling to move on to the next year to the point where i might get kicked out if I repeat a grade (look im sorry if the english is a bit weird... it's my best atttept to translate to english what im trying to say). So there's that... how do I breakout from this situation? I just want to try new things in life and be happy and successfull but i love the internet. Don't get the impression I spend all day watching shorts normally it's really good videos from topics i like and i feel at least i learned something new you know. I also play some games watch some movies/series you know normal stuff, the problem is filling all those free hours with that, which at this point cannot be changed to anything else. It's like my brain telling me: " you need to be on the fucking computer from X hour to Y hour everyday". To me that sounds like an addiction. One more thing: please don't suggest for me to go to a therapist or psychologist or any of those people. I went to a few ones in the past and I didn't like it. They didn't help me at all. They did nothing basically. They were just there the entire time silent and then in the end they suggested bullshit like "Have you tried meditation?". And also i wanna solve this by my own like I think of myself of someone capable of solving their own problems. That's just my mentality. So yeah if anyone made it to the end of this incoherent mess, I appreciate you and if you have any suggestions plz share in the comments. I'm very grateful of you if you could help my situation. Thank you!

2024.05.21 16:07 WeakWatercress5479 What score on Digital SAT would be enough for me?

If I wait around for someone who actually has knowledge about this topic, I'll prob get a reply by the time I'm graduating from uni so don't hesitate to answer my question after you read and get a general picture of my situation, whoever you are.
I got a score of 1260 out of 1600, in May D-SAT (640 from the Reading and Writing Section and 620 from the Math Section). I'm taking it again in the 1st of July. Unlike pretty much everyone else, I'm not taking the SAT for applying to a Uni/College in the US. I'm gonna use it to apply to a school in Istanbul, Turkey.
I'm Turkish, I live in Turkey and in our country we have a national university exam. It's the kinda exam that consumes students' joy of life throughout 12th grade and in terms of level of difficulty, SAT is nothing compared to it. It's the product of a corrupt system anyway; on average, turkish students who take the test are able to answer only 7 questions of math out of 40. It's literally designed for failure; the questions are meant to be unperceived. And if you wanna study in Turkey (which I do) or if you, financially, don't have a chance to study abroad, you gotta study hard and take it. But I learned that those of us who have another citizenship, other than the Turkish one, have alternatives. I was born in the US therefore have a USA citizenship. I'm a dual citizen. The alternative way for me is renouncing my Turkish citizenship, becoming American only, taking the SAT and applying with the score I get from it, as if I'm a foreigner who wishes to study here. Anyone who has such chance would jump on it and that's what I'm doing. But since this is a procedure that's done so rarely, what I must achieve to guarantee acceptance isn't so clear. This kinda leaves me in an uncertainty. I was able to find the minimum scores some universities I'm considering, require for applying: A uni requires min. 1200 (min. 650 from Maths), another one requires min. 1100 (min. 550 from Maths), another requires min. 1300 (min. 680 from Maths). The reason why they also have requirements specifically for the Math section of the SAT is bcuz the major I want to study is Architecture, that's why. Anyway, a college I'm also considering requires 1000 (min. 600 from the Maths) for application. I have two other colleges in mind but I just can't find the base points they necessitate. I know that my worries probably seem unnecessary when you look at these numbers cuz my performance seems fine but there are some important points that must be taken into consideration, as well: The Turkish Ministry of Education has established a certain quota for studying Architecture as a foreign student. And as if that quota isn't limitating enough, schools themselves are given the freedom to reduce that quota as they wish, so they do! Consequently, the quotas of the Architecture programs of these schools I'm looking into, range from 3 to 40, in a country with a population of 85 million lol (One of these published quotas is 3 students, another is 4, another's 15, another's 30 and another one's 40). But that's not all; also, they're not obligated to fill that quota they determine, to the brim, so they don't! Additionally, there's the fact that these are only the D-SAT scores that are required for applying (u need a score higher than the established minimums so that they don't immediately throw ur application in the trash can). It's not like u can start packing once your SAT score exceeds those published min.s. The way I see it, there's no guarantee of anything unless you get a score as high as 1400, 1500 or a perfect 1600. But obvi I'm not sure if "the way I see it" is accurate. So I wanted to ask you redditors about your thoughts. What do you think??
Approx. what score would be ideal for me, in ur opinion?
Thank you in advance :)

2024.05.21 16:01 Responsible_Rub4516 9th Anniversary EZA Vegito/Buutenks

So as most of you know, global got MBS Vegito and Buutenks early compared to JP. They got the EZAs during their 9th anniversary celebration. So for Globals, I was thinking they will be replaced by someone else. I was originally think LR Int 17 (TU7) and LR Phy 17 and Frieza (to keep inline with all the Tournament of Power EZAs). Then I thought vegito and buutenks were random and unrelated to the TOP so maybe their replacements will be too. So here are my top choices...
  1. LR Teq Goku (Angel) & Vegeta (Angel) + LR Phy Janemba
  2. LR Int Android #17 (Team Universe 7) and LR Phy Golden Frieza (Angel) & Android #17
  3. LR Teq Super Saiyan Broly + UR Int Legendary Super Saiyan Broly
  4. LR Teq Jiren (Full Power) + UR Phy Frieza (Angel)
I think the top one is self explanatory. They mirror vegito and buutenks but actually fit the theme of the 9th anniversary and the leader skills perfectly (being Movie Heroes and Transformation Boost+Exploding Rage/Movie Bosses)
Second choice, as I said before, continues the LR TOP EZA trend.
The third is just me finding an excuse for them to finally awaken TEQ Broly. Units the oldest unit that is either a DFE or LR that doesn't have an EZA. The int broky would be a welcome addition as I think movie bosses would be broken with him on it.
The fourth option is similar to the 1st and 3rd choices where Jiren needs an EZA and shouldve got one when Toppo had his DFE on JP and he is also TOP. Frieza fits too but I couldn't give 2 shits about him. (I wouldn't even mind Teq Broly and Teq Jiren getting theirs EZAs together).
Anyways, enough of my late night thoughts. Let me know if these ideas are dumb or not. I think a poll would be cool to see. I actually want to know what people think about this topic.

Pyridoxamine-5'-phosphate oxidase (PNPO) deficiency is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by impaired metabolism of pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP), a crucial form of vitamin B6 essential for the function of various enzymes in the body. This deficiency manifests as a pyridoxal 5'-phosphate-responsive epileptic encephalopathy, with refractory seizures emerging typically within the first year of life. Prematurity, fetal distress, and neonatal seizures are commonly associated features. The phenotype of PNPO deficiency encompasses a spectrum of seizure types, with approximately 90% of affected individuals experiencing "classic" onset, marked by seizures in the neonatal period, and the remaining 10% exhibiting "late onset" seizures. Seizures, including status epilepticus, often commence within the first day of life in classic cases and before two weeks of age in the majority of instances. Despite variations in onset time, seizures typically exhibit resistance to conventional antiepileptic medications. Lifelong treatment with B6 vitamers, primarily pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP) in 60% of cases and pyridoxine (PN) in 40%, yields partial seizure control. Developmental impairment, affecting speech, cognition, and behavior, is present in around 60% of individuals with PNPO deficiency. Some may also exhibit neurological deficits such as muscular hypotonia or dystonia. Severe neurodevelopmental impairment is more prevalent in cases with delayed diagnosis and prolonged periods of uncontrolled seizures. Pharmacological management involves oral administration of PLP or PN, with PLP typically divided into 4-6 daily doses and PN into 3-4 doses. Careful titration is essential to avoid potential liver toxicity with PLP and sensory or motor neuropathy with PN, which is usually reversible upon dose reduction.

2024.05.21 15:56 WeakWatercress5479 What score is ideal for a student in this situation? (admins read P.S. pls)

If I wait around for someone who actually has knowledge about this topic, I'll prob get a reply by the time I'm graduating from uni so don't hesitate to answer my question after you read and get a general picture of the situation I'm in, whoever you are.

I know that my worries probably seem unnecessary when you look at these numbers cuz they're not too exaggerated but there are some important points that must be taken into consideration, as well: The Turkish Ministry of Education has established a certain quota for studying Architecture as a foreign student. And as if that quota isn't limitating enough, schools themselves are given the freedom to reduce that quota as they wish, so they do! (P.S. this doesn't count as a question that's asking smth like "is my score good?". Look, ik that this is a very rare situation but it's not technically 'personal'. Therefore, it obeys the no. 5 rule of this community and shouldn't be getting taken down.)
(P.P.S. This is a question from which's answers, any Turkish student planning to apply to uni/college through the foreigners quota with their SAT score, can benefit from. That's because all of the aforementioned problems, such as the quotas of schools being too small, apply to all the other majors that aren't Archi., as well.)

2024.05.21 15:42 Emotional-Effect-374 Why I Think Sleeping on WhatsApp Marketing Is a Mistake - Part 2

In this post, I will address the issues raised by readers in the previous post and discuss a cost-effective and ethical approach to growing your WhatsApp contact list for marketing purposes.
One commenter mentioned, “Nope. Never used WhatsApp and never will. I don't need another app or service to text and call people...that's what my phone does! My clientele doesn't use it, why should I?”
Here are some facts: Over 50 million companies globally use WhatsApp Business for marketing, and 54% of users prefer to receive marketing communications and order updates via WhatsApp.
Sources: Cooby , Statista. There is extensive information available on Google as well.
Another comment stated, “You're forgetting that I simply don't want you messaging me on WhatsApp unless I give you my number.”
Facts: Similar to SMS and email, nobody likes spam. WhatsApp is no different. You should block and report any number that sends unsolicited messages to you.
This brings us to today's topic: How can businesses obtain opt-ins for WhatsApp marketing?
Option 1: Create Click-to-WhatsApp Ads
If you use social media to promote products or run marketing campaigns, it’s an ideal opportunity to encourage customers to connect with your business on WhatsApp. Offering a click-to-chat option in your ads provides an easy entry point for customers to start a conversation, ensuring you have their consent to interact and know how they found your business.
Here’s how to create such an ad: [Create Ads That Click to WhatsApp]
Option 2: Obtain Customer Opt-Ins During Support Interactions
Add a WhatsApp Chat widget on your website using Clickiny.com. After resolving a customer’s issue, ask if they’d like to receive future notifications and updates. If they agree, send a message outlining the type of notifications they can expect and ask them to confirm their opt-in.
Option 3: Use Pop-Ups
You can collect opt-ins on your website using pop-ups, banners, or CTA snippets in locations that catch your customers’ attention. Clearly communicate the value and benefits of receiving notifications via WhatsApp, such as inspirations, new arrivals, and the latest discounts.
Tools like OptinMonster.com or Popupsmart can help you create these pop-ups.
Option 4: Ask for an Opt-In at Checkout
Since customers can use WhatsApp to receive crucial notifications like order confirmations, boarding passes, and delivery updates, they are more likely to opt-in during the purchase process. This is particularly effective for retailers, airlines, and logistics companies. Include a checkbox for opt-in at various touchpoints, such as when entering billing or delivery information.
Best Practices to Boost Your WhatsApp Opt-In Rate
To effectively increase your WhatsApp opt-in rate, consider the following strategies:
1. Highlight the Benefits: Clearly convey the advantages of receiving notifications and updates via WhatsApp. Make it evident how it adds value to the customer experience.
2. Respect Frequency: Avoid overloading customers with messages. Find a balance that keeps them informed without being intrusive.
3. Simplify the Opt-In Process: Ensure that the process to opt-in is straightforward and user-friendly. Minimize steps and make it easy for customers to sign up.
4. Integrate Seamlessly: Choose an opt-in method that fits naturally into your existing communication channels and business processes. This will make the transition smooth for both your business and your customers.
5. Provide Clear Opt-Out Instructions: Make sure customers know how to opt-out if they choose to, and promptly respect their requests. Transparency builds trust and reduces the likelihood of complaints.
By implementing these best practices, you can effectively grow your WhatsApp contact list while maintaining a positive relationship with your customers.

2024.05.21 15:10 Training_Fuel_3094 I’m paranoid that I don’t deserve my grades because of accommodations.

I know this is always a hot-button topic in this sub which is why I think I’ve become overly anxious about it.
I have ADHD & have been trying to figure out medication (I was diagnosed in college) but have been on some form of stimulants since starting law school (I've switched between about 4 or 5 as we try to figure out what works and what doesn't).
Coming into law school, I also went through the whole process and got approved for 1.5x time on my final exams as well as a "lower distraction environment."
The thing is, I've gotten all As, in my doctrinal and my legal research and writing courses (where I don't have any accommodations because we don't have a final exam, just a big writing assignment). I think largely because of online discourse (and because I've never gotten straight As before) I've gotten very paranoid that using my accommodations is tantamount to cheating. My boyfriend and my therapist have both reminded me that I worked my ass off for these grades and the accommodations also account for all the difficulty I deal with while preparing for exams, and it's not like I ever finish the exams with any time to spare, but I can't help wondering if using my extra time is wrong.
Has anyone else experienced this or something similar? Should I talk to the school about getting my time reduced or not using it?
I'm not quite sure what I'm asking for, just hoping some people have had similar thoughts and would be willing to share their input. Thank you :)

2024.05.21 15:01 FelicitySmoak_ Tuesday, May 21, 2013 - Jackson v. AEG Live Day 15

Tuesday, May 21, 2013 - Jackson v. AEG Live Day 15
Trial Day 15
Katherine, Rebbie and Trent Jackson are at court.
LA Times reported that the Jacksons offered a settlement.
Kevin Boyle , a lawyer for Katherine Jackson and Michael's kids , said they offered to settle the lawsuit against AEG, but that they never got an answer. Kevin Boyle said the family made the offers in January & March. Boyle would not provide details but said AEG's insurance would have paid, which means they could have settled the case without them paying a dime of their money. He said AEG has never offered to settle & they haven't apologized.
Marvin Putnam, an attorney for AEG, said it was inappropriate to discuss settlement discussions:
"We don't settle matters that are utterly baseless. We believe that is the case in this matter. I can't see why we would consider a settlement as anything other than a shakedown"
CNN Reports there was a snack controversy during trial: AEG lawyers gave a bag of peppermint candy to the bailiff to hand out to the jury this week. Even Katherine Jackson enjoyed the treat but Jackson's lawyer raised an objection, suggesting jurors might be influenced if they realized the source of the sweets. A compromise was reached. Each side can provide snacks for jurors, but they'll be placed at the bailiff's desk before jurors enter court so they have no clue who brought it.
Shawn Trell Testimony
Jackson direct
AEG Live General Counsel, Shawn Trell, told jurors that he had forgotten that Kenny Ortega was working under a signed contract.
Trell said he met with his attorneys last night and reviewed one doc -- Kenny Ortega's contract.
"He had a written contract," Trell said. "I remember the email dynamic. I'm not too proud to admit that I didn't recall the cover contract," Trell said he was changing his previous testimony to add that Ortega had a written contract, not only emails between him and AEG
Next topic was Insurance: Cancellation/Non-Appearance/Sickness. Trell said he started working on insurance for the tour in November of 2008. Panish showed several chains of emails where the parties talked about the insurance for the tour
Email from Bob Taylor insurance broker to Trell on 1/7/09:
"Prior to speaking with carriers we ask the artist to attend medical with a doctor...A full medical with both blood/urine tests. The doctor also wants to review the medical records over the last 5 years to ensure full disclosure. Insurers require further medical examination to be carried out by their nominated doctor. They may restrict illness coverage or death from illness coverage until this examination has taken place"
Email from 4/30/09 - Wooley to Trell :
"We have no coverage against Michael sickness unless and until he submits to another medical in London
Email from 5/28/09 - Trell to Taylor:
"We really need to get that medical done"
Email from 6/23/09 - Trell to Taylor :
"Any update on the availability of Term insurance?" (life insurance)
Trell said if they secured life insurance, they would get money if Michael died.
"We would get the money owed to us, yes," Trell testified.
Trell also said he continued discussions with an insurance broker about additional coverage to recoup AEG Live's investment if the tour had to be canceled.
Email from 6/24/09 -Taylor to Trell :
"Insurers have refused to move on this. Huge amount of speculation in the media regarding artist's health. They feel if they're to consider providing illness to cover this particular artist, they must have very through medical report"
Email from 6/25/09 - Gongaware to Taylor :
"If we don't get sickness coverage, we are dropping this policy"
Email from 6/25/09 - Taylor to Gongaware :
"The consultation in London is critical. The doctor is holding the afternoon of the 6th July open at Harley St. But keep in mind the visit could take 2 hours plus"
Next topic: Budget/Costs. Panish showed an email from AEG's Rick Webking to Michael's estate with 1st report of artist advances/expenses. This was a letter sent to the estate containing the expenses incurred, Trell said.
"It seems to me we submitted this report for their review, I don't see any request for payment," Trell said.
Trell said he spoke with Randy Phillips and Paul Gongaware about Michael's physical condition prior to coming to testify.
"I had heard about rehearsals in which Mr. Jackson was fantastic," Trell said
Trell said he's aware of email from Ortega saying doctor was not allowing Michael to attend rehearsal on June 14, 2009.
"I was aware of the doctor not allowing him to attend rehearsal," Trell said
Email from 6/17/09 from Phillips:
"...Ortega, Gongaware, Dileo, and his doctor Conrad from Vegas and I have an intervention with him to get him to focus and come to rehearsal"
Email from 6/17/09 from Gongaware to Phillip's assistant:
"We need a physical therapist and a nutritionist"
Email from Production Manager - Gongaware/Phillips on 6/19/09 :
"Paul/Randy I'm not bring a drama queen here. Kenny asked me to notify you both Michael was sent home without stepping foot on stage. He was a basket case and Kenny was concerned he would embarrass himself on stage, or worse yet, be hurt. The company is rehearsing right now, but the DOUBT is pervasive"
Email from Randy Phillips to Tim Leiweke on 6/19/09 :
"We have a huge problem here."
"I think he recognized there was a problem on the 19th," Trell said. "I would take it seriously, as I believe Mr. Phillips did."
Trell agreed with a statement by plaintiff's attorney, Brian Panish, that company executives knew by then there was a "deep issue" with Jackson
Does Trell consider that exchange a "red flag" that AEG Live should have noticed, Panish asked.
"I would take it seriously, as I believe Mr. Phillips did," Trell answered. "I don't know I would use the word 'red flag'
One of the emails shown to the jury was from Jackson estate co-executor John Branca, sent 5 days before Jackson's death & marked 'confidential':
"I have the right therapist/spiritual advisosubstance abuse counselor who could help (recently helped Mike Tyson get sober and paroled) Do we know whether there is a substance issue involved (perhaps better discussed on the phone)
The email was sent the same day that a meeting was held at Jackson's home with Murray. No further info given to jury.
Trell said Mr. Phillips never told him about this email
Email from Ortega to Randy Phillips on 6/20/09: (chain of emails)
"I honestly don't think he is ready for this based on his continued physical weakening and deepening emotional state"
Trell said he didn't see these emails. He said he spoke with Randy Phillips about Phillips' perception of Michael, in order to prepare for testifying, but not about specific emails. Trell has been designated as the most qualified person to speak on behalf of AEG
Email from Phillips to Gongaware on 6/20/09 at 1:52 am :
"Tim and I are going to see him tomorrow, however, I'm not sure what the problem is Chemical or Physiological?"
From Gongaware to Phillips, on 6/20/09 at 5:59 am :
"Take the doctor with you. Why wasn't he there last night?"
From Phillips to Gongaware, on 6/20/09 at 2:01 pm :
"He is not a psychiatrist so I'm not sure how effective he can be at this point obviously, getting him there is not the issue. It is much deeper"
Trell said Randy Phillips went to a handful of rehearsals, three at the Forum and two at Staples Center. The head of the marketing department attended rehearsal on June 23, 2009.
"She was blown away by it," Trell testified.
He said he was unaware of issues with Jackson at rehearsals.
"I knew of no problems with Michael Jackson at all",Trell testified.
Trell said he never saw the emails from Phillips directing people to exclude images from This Is It of Michael looking "skeletal" while rehearsing.
"What were his observations of Michael's physical condition during rehearsal," Trell said. "I asked for his (Phillips) personal opinion."
Next line of questioning is about human resources and background checks. Trell said they can be valuable and useful tools when hiring. Background check costs around $40 to $125. Trell said AEG Live could afford this fee. "We don't do background checks on independent contractors," Trell said. Trell said he was involved in the hiring by AEG Live for the This Is It tour. His department was responsible for retaining independent contractors. Trell said he is not familiar with background check process for hiring.
"I am not familiar with the process of doing background checks," Trell said. "No training."

Panish: "There was no hiring criteria for the This Is It tour, correct?"
Trell: "Not to my knowledge"
Trell testified that when it comes to independent contractors, they have either worked with the artists, AEG or known in the industry. Trell agreed that no background check was done on anyone working on the This Is It tour. AEG Live General Counsel Shawn Trell told jurors that no legal or financial checks were done involving Conrad Murray or anyone else who worked as an independent contractor on the This Is It shows.
Depending on the nature of the position, a background could be done, Trell said, like for potential employees in the financial area. Trell said he thought a background check would be appropriate for people working in financial roles, but not tour personnel who weren't employees of AEG
As to independent contractors, Trell said there's no supervision and monitoring like there's for employees
Panish: "You don't do anything to check into background, supervise or protect the artist?"
Trell: "No, safety is a concern"
Trell said that AEG did not hire Murray, that the doctor was like many independent contractors,
"When they leave the environment, what they do on their own time is their own business"
Trell testified he doesn't believe the artist is more at risk because AEG Live doesn't do background checks
"We did nothing to monitor Dr. Murray," Trell said. "We did not monitor whatever it was that he was doing, no."
"It called for Michael Jackson being able to terminate Dr. Murray at will," Trell said about the contract. "If the concerts didn't go forward, and he was terminated under this provision, Dr. Murray would not be paid going forward," Trell explained
As to Dr Murray being under dire financial straits, Trell said that he doesn't know if he agrees with it, everyone's perception is different
Trell: "I certainly wasn't aware of it at the time"
Panish: "Because you didn't check, right?"
Trell: "That's right"
"I don't think conflict of interests are a good thing, and we would want to prevent it," Trell said
Email from Kathy Jorie to Shawn Trell on 6/24/09 at 12:54 am:
Subject: Revised agreement with GCA Holdings/Dr. MurrayIt had two attachments Attachments: Revised Michael Jackson -AEG GCA Holdings Murray Agreement 6-18-09 Final MJ -- AEG GCA Holdings Agreement (Dr. Murray) 6-23-09
Email chain from 6/23/09, 5:39pm from Jorrie to Wooley, Murray
Subject: RE: Michael Jackson - Revised Agreement with GCA Holdings/Dr. Murray Email:
"I have redlined the Word version so that you can see all of the revisions. In addition, I've attached clean PDF version for execution" (The email says that if Dr. Murray approved it, he was to print it, sign and send it back to Jorrie)

Panish: "Did Ms. Jorrie call this contract a draft?"
Trell: "She called it a Final Version"
"Every document is a draft until it is executed," Trell said.
Panish showed emails exchanged among AEG executives that contained drafts of Murray's contract. Although Murray had signed a contract with the company, neither Jackson nor anyone from AEG had added their signatures. Trell testified that a copy of the contract had never been sent to Jackson
With Trell on the stand, Panish played part of an interview that AEG Live President Randy Phillips gave to Sky News television soon after Michael's death.
"This guy was willing to leave his practice for a very large sum of money, so we hired him," Phillips said.
Panish also showed jurors an e-mail between AEG lawyers suggesting that Phillips told other interviewers AEG Live "hired" Murray.
Panish: "Isn't it true that Randy Phillips made numerous comments that AEG Live hired Dr. Murray?"
Trell: "I know he has made that statement"
Panish said AEG higher-ups became concerned after Phillips made such admission. Trell said he didn't know if that was true. Bruce Black is the General Counsel for parent company of AEG and AEG Live. Michael Roth is AEG's media relations
Email from Kathy Jorrie to Bruce Black and Michael Roth on 8/25/09:
Subject: AEG Live president says AEG Live hired Dr. Conrad Murray
Panish shows Trell a deposition, under oath, given by insurance broker Bob Taylor on another case. Trell said he has never seen or read it. Trell denied having a telephone conversation with Mr. Taylor where Trell asked him if a doctor's compensation was covered in the insurance.
Panish: "Does that refresh your recollection that AEG was employing Dr. Murray?"
Trell: "Mr. Taylor has this completely wrong"
After lunch break, Brian Panish asked if Shawn Trell wanted to change anything else in his testimony, to which he said "No"
Bruce Black, attorney for Anschutz, was present in the meeting with LAPD. Trell met with the police on 1/12/10. Trell told the police that day that Dr. Murray would receive $150,000 compensation per month. Trell also said that Dr. Murray requested and AEG would provide necessary medical equipment and a nurse. More than five months after Jackson's death, Trell said, he informed LAPD detectives that Murray initially requested $5 million to join the tour but eventually agreed to a salary of $150,000 a month for 10 months.
Panish: "As far as you know, all the agreements written for TII tour was done under AEG Live Productions, right?"
Trell: "Yes"
Panish: "Was Dr. Murray trying to help AEG get insurance?"
Trell: "The policy was in both names, so he was helping both parties"
Trell said Dennis Hawk, who represented Michael, was in touch with Taylor regarding the insurance
Panish: "As of June 2009, you don't even know whether Mr. Jackson had a personal manager
working for him, right?"
Trell: "Well, my understanding at the time there were a couple of people acting in that capacity"
Email on 6/2/09 from Randy Phillips to Jeff Wald:
"Jeff, remember getting Michael to focus is not the easiest thing in the world and we still have no lawyer, business manager, or, even real manager in place. It is a nightmare!"
Trell said the only time he saw an artist's signature required to retain an independent contractor was for Dr. Murray. Trell said his understanding was that Dr. Murray worked for Michael for 3 years; didn't know how many times MJ saw Dr. Murray.
"I've never spoken with Dr. Murray ever. And I met/spoke with Mr. Jackson once," Trell said.

"He was a significant expense," Trell testified about Dr. Murray.
Trell said AEG Live didn't do anything to check Dr. Murray's competency as doctor, other than checking his physician license. Trell said AEG didn't do anything to determine Dr. Murray's financial conditions in 2009.
Jury was shown an email that Phillips sent to Kenny Ortega on night of June 20, 2009. It was email urging Ortega to stand down.
Email on 6/20/09 Phillips to Ortega :
"Kenny it's critical that neither you, me, anyone around this show become amateur psychiatrist/physicians. I had a lengthy conversation with Dr. Murray, who I am gaining immense respect for as I get to deal with him more. He said that Michael is not only physically equipped to perform & discouraging him to will hasten his decline instead of stopping it. Dr. Murray also reiterated that he is mentally able to and was speaking to me from the house where he had spent the morning with Michael. This doctor is extremely successful (we check everyone out) and does not need this gig so he is totally unbiased and ethical"
Panish asked Trell whether Phillips "characterization to Ortega, given no background check was done, was a lie". Trell responded that he didn't know what Phillips knew or was thinking when he wrote that email to Ortega. Trell also said he expected Randy Phillips to testify at some point during the trial, so he could address the email himself
Panish then asked Trell, "Sir, you never checked out one single thing about Dr. Murray -- you've already told me that, correct?"
"As of the date of the email, that would've been correct",Trell said.
When pressed by Panish, Trell said that Phillips' statement that Murray had been checked out, along with the executive's claim that the doctor 'does not need this gig' were inaccurate.
"I don't know where Randy's understanding or impression comes from", Trell said.
Trell testified that Phillips might have been "misinformed" or simply was stating his impression of the Las Vegas cardiologist
Panish: "But no one at AEG checked Dr. Murray to see if he was successful or not, isn't that true?"
Trell: "Yes"
Panish then asked several pointed questions about whether Shawn Trell agreed with Phillips telling Ortega they'd checked Murray out. One of Panish's questions was whether Trell thought Phillips' email was 'acceptable conduct'
Panish called Phillips' statement "a flat out lie" and asked Trell whether he agreed with it or if it signified how AEG did business. Trell said he didn't know what Phillips thought he knew when he wrote the message.
"I know this statement is not accurate, but you'd have to speak with Mr. Phillips about what he thought or meant in saying it," Trell said.

Panish: "That's a flat out lie, isn't it sir?"
Trell: "I don't know what Mr. Phillips intended to say, this should be a question to him"
Panish: "You don't know if he was successful or facing bankruptcy, did you?"
Trell: "No"
Trell: "I know the statement is not accurate. You have to speak with Mr. Phillips about what he meant to say"
Panish: "Do you agree with the CEO of your company making untrue statements?"
Trell: "I don't know that he didn't know it wasn't true when he said it"
Trell said Phillips never told him that he checked Dr. Murray out. As to reference in Phillips' email about Dr. Murray being unbiased, ethical, not needing this gig, Trell said it was Phillips' impressions. He said AEG typically only runs background checks on candidates applying for full-time jobs with AEG, not independent contractors.
Panish: "Isn't it true AEG Live does not do background check on independent contractors?"
Trell: "That's true"
Trell said that no one from AEG interviewed Dr. Murray because he was an independent contractor.
"Did anyone from AEG ever at any time interview Dr. Murray", asked Brian Panish
"No", Trell replied.
Panish showed a document used by AEG entitled "Disclosure and Authorization to Conduct Background Check". Doc is used for employment, promotion, retention, contingent or the rate staffing, consulting, sub-contract work, or volunteer work. Panish asked if there was any reason why Dr. Murray was not given a background check.
"He wasn't an employee, he wasn't applying for a full time position with the company," Trell explained.
Trell said theoretically they could've asked to check Dr. Murray's background and credit.
AEG Cross
Jessica Bina began her examination by showing the letter submitted by AEG's CFO to the Estate of Michael Jackson for their review. She asked Shawn Trell about the estimate presented to Jackson's estate that included Murray's $300k fees. She asked why it was prepared. Shawn Trell said it was done at the request of the estate. He said Jackson's estate wanted to know state of tour finances when Jackson died. Trell said the report was requested by the Estate after a series of meetings after Michael's death.
"The purpose of the meeting was to wind up the business affairs of the tour due to Michael's death", Trell said. "It was my understating in June Tohme was back in the picture in some capacity. I'm not sure which, Mr. DiLeo was in it too," Trell said
Bina: "Is there any request for payment?"
Trell: "No, there's no demand for payment, it's for review"
Stebbins Bina asked about the inclusion of Murray's fee in the document. Bina showed the report that was attached to the letter. Murray's fee on the document had a footnote. Trell read what that footnote said, and explained why estate wasn't asked for Murray's fee. Next to "Management Medical" there's a reference to footnote 3.
Note 3: 'Contract is not signed by Michael Jackson and such signature was condition precedent to any payment obligation' - Footnote on Murray fee.
Trell testified Webking, the CFO for AEG, did not ask Michael's Estate for payment of Dr. Murray's salary
"You testified you were somewhat confused (by the inclusion of the $300,000)?", Bina asked Trell as she projected the list, dated July 17, 2009, on a screen for jurors.
"Do you see there's something in parentheses?', Stebbins Bina asked, zooming in to blow up a footnote from AEG CFO Frederick Webking that stated Michael Jackson never signed Murray's contract, so its terms were not enforceable.
"Is Mr. Webking asking the estate to pay?", Stebbins Bina asked Trell. "No", he replied, explaining that upon reflection he believed Mr. Webking was just being 'thorough' by including the $300,000 as a budgeted cost.
"Did Mr. Webking make a mistake as you thought yesterday?",she asked.
"No, he did not", Trell answered
Second report made to the Estate on 9/18/09, there was no amount next to management medical. Stebbins Bina then showed a Sept. 2009 report of This Is It's finances to Michael Jackson's estate. Murray's fee is not listed in that document
Trell went through his job description with AEG. He said he has five lawyers in his department and has worked on thousands of agreements. Trell explained what PMK is -- Person Most Knowledgeable, identified by the company to testify on its behalf. Trell said he didn't know about all the topics he was designated, so he had to do some studying and interviews with people
As to Ortega's contract, Trell said he was aware of a string of emails being at least a part of the original agreement with Kenny.
"When we were done here yesterday, I looked at Kenny Ortega's original agreement," Trell said.
Trell noted he hadn't looked at Ortega's agreement since it was entered into in 2009. Before the afternoon break, Trell and jury were shown Kenny Ortega's tour agreement. It was signed in April 2009. The agreement was three pages of legalese, with several pages of emails attached that confirmed the terms. The first three pages included some paragraphs that described who owned the rights to This Is It content. A large number of emails are part of the agreement as exhibits. Trell said he recalled the emails exchange and admitted again not being proud of forgetting the cover contract portion. Bina showed Ortega's executed contract with everyone's signature on it. Trell said Kenny Ortega was paid after his contract was signed.
Trell, Phillips and Kathy Jorrie were involved in drafting and negotiating the contract with Michael Jackson. For MJ, Trell said Dr. Tohme Tohme and attorneys Dennis Hawk and Peter Lopez represented him. He said there were multiple drafts.
"It's my understanding they were talking to, or at least receiving offers from, a competitive of ours, Live Nation," Trell said.
Trell also said that before signing an agreement with AEG, Jackson had been considering a tour offer from its main competitor, Live Nation.
Bina showed the jury the final tour agreement. Trell said he went to MJ's home at Carolwood to sign it. Upon arrival, Trell said Mr. Jackson got up from where he was seated, and said 'Hi, welcome, I'm Michael." Trell said it was pretty funny, since he was a very distinct person. Trell said they shook hands, he had a good firm handshake and his voice was not what people think
"He popped up, came over, introduced himself, was very cordial, there was a real positive energy, good vibe in the room," Trell said. "He seemed genuinely enthused," Trell added. "He had the contract in front of him, said he read every page, seemed very enthused." Trell said they all signed it and Mr. Jackson was really keen on the 3-D stuff, that he was already down the road in his mind. "I was probably there just a little less than an hour. And that was the only time I met him," Trell recalled.
Bina discussed the contract for the tour agreement:
A first class performance by Artist at each show on each of the approved itineraries. Contract:
Artist shall perform no less than 80 minutes at each show, and the maximum show length for each show shall be 3.5 hours. Artist shall approve a sufficient number of shows on itineraries proposed by promoter or producer as to recoup the advances made.
Trell said compensation was agreed on 90-10 split. Artist received 90% of what's defined contingent compensation.
Trell explained to jury how concerts get paid for. One scenario is artist pays for production up front. A second scenario is that the promoter gives artist an advance, and then they use the money to put together the show. The third option, Trell said, is the artist pays someone like AEG Live to produce and promote the show, with costs to come out of their pay. Trell called the second and third option like an interest-free loan. In Jackson's case, AEG agreed to a 90/10 split of show's proceeds. Jackson would have received the 90% portion, Trell said. Jackson was also on the hook for a 5% production fee
AEG Live was promoter & producer.
"We advanced the money necessary to mount the tour," Trell explained. "It's interest free money".
Trell testified that Jackson's advance, which covered his $100,000-a-month rent on his mansion and a $3-million payment to settle a lawsuit that would free up his performance rights, was considered a loan to be paid back to AEG.
Part of the advance was to pay off the settlement agreement of $3 million in London court. The underlying dispute was that a company owned the rights for Jackson's live performance.
"The rights needed to be freed up," Trell said.
The advances were to be paid back to AEG Live before the split of revenue. Production Advances were capped to $7.5 million. Contract:
Artist was responsible for all the production costs in excess of the cap and had to reimburse promoter.
"Michael Jackson was known to have very elaborate productions," Trell said. "Production values can get significant, for lack of a better word, it really depends on how many bells and whistles they want," Trell said.
Trell said AEG would not advance money without the artist requesting it.
Trell said it's not only typical and customary, but standard and artist needs to secure either non-appearance or cancellation insurance. Their interest in the policy, Trell said, was to cover the advances and production costs incurred with the production of the show.
"If the were no obligations to AEG, the payout would go back to the artist", Trell explained, "It just recoups our loan made to the artist."
Trell was also asked about elements of tour insurance policies and an agreement with former manager Tohme Tohme. Jackson's contract called for him to represent to AEG that he didn't have any health conditions that would keep him from performing.
Contract:
Artistco hereby represents and warrants that artist does not possess any known health conditions, injuries or ailments that would reasonable be expected to interfere with Artist's first class performance at each of the shows during the term
Oh Tohme's $100k per month agreement, Trell was shown a January contract that Jackson signed to pay that amount. However, Trell said Tohme's agreement was predicated on Jackson getting tour cancellation insurance by a certain date. Deadline passed and by that point Tohme was no longer Jackson's manager, so he wasn't entitled to be paid his monthly fee.
January 24, 2009 -- agreement entered with Dr. Tohme Tohme. Trell said Michael was involved and signed this agreement. "This agreement was entered into January 26, Trell testified.
"There are conditions that needed to be met before any payment could be made."
One of the the conditions was placement of non-appearance insurance, Trell said. That placement was done in late April, early May. In May, AEG received letter from MJ saying Tohme didn't rep him anymore.
"No payments were ever made under this agreement," Trell explained.

House System in US Schools
Good morning to you all, wherever you are! It's a lovely morning here in North Carolina. I wanted to give some extra information on the first topic of the episode about the house systems in schools. For context I am a fourth grade math teacher in a public school. There are actually many schools in the United States who have a house system similar to the one in Harry Potter. The idea behind having school-wide houses is to celebrate students for their efforts in school, foster school spirit, allow for relationship-building across grade levels, and to give students a sense of belonging in their school "family."
The school that is typically credited with starting this house movement is the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia, which was founded and began using this system in 2007. Since then their success as a school has inspired others to follow their approach. Ron Clark has actually developed a curriculum and implementation process for other schools to adopt if they wanted to use the system in their school. They also host professional development for teachers and administration staff to see their school in action. Check out their website here!
My school has implemented a house system this year (we call them "Coves" since our mascot is a pirate) and it has been a great success. We host meetings monthly with our coves to give lessons on good character, relationship building, conflict resolution, and other important life skills. Students can also earn cove points for stand-out behavior or other accomplishment and every quarter we host a pep rally to play games and reveal who wins the Cove Cup Trophy for that quarter.
Below is our crest with each of the cove names and animal symbols. Each of our cove names are written in a language representative of cultures of students in our school. Check out the caption to learn what each cove name means and what its origin is!
Amoroso: Hispanic origin, means loving. Jasiri: African origin, means courageous. Anbisye: Hatian origin, means ambitious. Waohola: Native American origin, means respect. Sisu: Finnish origin, means determination. Mamum: Asian/Pacific Islander origin, means trustworthy.

2024.05.21 14:52 Odd_Serve_3974 Visible Tattoos/Dress Code

Hello!
Ive looked through some posts regarding this topic but hoping to get a little more specific clarity.
I work as an 18 contracted via a non-profit(still get the lovely benefits, working on getting permanent atm)
Never external facing, any communicating with the outside world is strictly email and phone due to the nature of our work.
My coworkers and supervisors have seen my forearm tattoos, but generally speaking I do not show much above that, maybe an occasional short sleeve.
I have a high/boat neck top that’s long but sleeveless, it would show my shoulder tattoos and the backs of my biceps.(flowers, nothing offensive by any standard)
Has anyone had experience as a lady wearing this kind of top? I occasionally see it in the higher ups, but I never know. Feel weird about asking my supervisors but also that would be the route I should probably go lol
Anyway thanks for the help!
Edit: I also have been working here for over 2 years, have good report with everyone including higher ups.

2024.05.21 14:51 NicoleRichie666 How did you find your next job after being fired in retaliation?

Hi guys
I was wondering if anyone who has been fired for reporting something discrimination-related has any advice on finding their next job?
For context, I was working in a marketing-related role in the video game industry, and was fired a few months ago when I raised concerns about pay inequity and harassment. Like I was literally sent home within a few hours, forced to take 1 week involuntary leave, immediately had network access revoked, and was fired at the end of that week. I know that marketing isn’t a “tech” role (and I’m not claiming to be a “woman in tech”) but I really need guidance on how you find another job after this. These are the main things I’m struggling with:
  1. Who do you guys list as references when job searching? I don’t think I can use anyone from this company as a reference, but not giving a reference will look suspicious.
  2. What do you say in interviews if they ask why you left your previous company?
  3. How do you account for the lack of career progression that goes with being a woman in a male-dominated space? I feel really behind in my career from doing work way above my pay grade while being refused actual recognition or visible career progression. I was never promoted (while the men around me were) and I’m anxious competing for jobs against people who had normal career opportunities. Maybe my question is, is there a way I can handle this without taking a job that is way below my skill/experience level?
  4. Does anyone have advice for coming across as competent when you are so used to being undermined, micromanaged, refused opportunities etc? My psychologist said that I have internalised this experience as my personal failure, and that I need to internalise a different narrative. I understand this in theory, but it’s really hard in practice. I feel like one of those dogs that was abused by its previous owner and now acts skittish around men and gets scared during thunderstorms*. Like I feel like I can’t go to a normal workplace because I might “give it away” somehow, and people will think I’m weird and damaged. At my previous company, I wasn’t allowed into the office without a designated male chaperone, and I wasn’t allowed to make basic decisions by myself (every tiny detail had to be approved by a male coworker). I know these things aren’t normal, but I'm so used to having to be deferential that I don't know what is normal.
  5. I'm currently thinking I'll do a postgrad degree so that I have something on my CV that is more recent than this job. Has anyone done this (either after being fired, or in general), and did it help?
Thank you all for reading, I really appreciate any and all guidance. Also thank you for your time :)
*I've never owned a dog, maybe all dogs are scared of thunderstorms. I hope this metaphor makes sense.
