2024.05.22 05:02 bladiee Finally going to face my collections, need advice on how to move forward.

I 21m have about 11500 in collections, and have had them in collections for the past 1.5 years. I gave up making payments. I recently scored a job paying 47600 yearly plus overtime as needed, and want to move out as soon as possible, but as youd assume, thats nearly impossible. I am either considering bankruptcy, debt settlement or debt management options. id like to pay this off by january 1st. my bills go as the following, and i cant really cut them down. i pay for my girlfriends phone and my mom isnt willing to make any exceptions on rent. montly income is about 3300-3500 after taxes
Bills
Phone - $262
Rent - $545
The rest is disposable income, which i am very irresponsible with unless there is an obligation (like a recurring bill). Need advice. Trying to move out into an apartment with my girlfriend by next year (6/2025).

2024.05.22 04:38 PyroIsSpai A reminder of who Colonel Karl Nell is, who his real boss is, and his "chain of command". He's more connected than you realized.

A quick note about Karl Nell's SALT Conference audience today

There is zero possibility that Karl Nell gave his talk without express authorization of the United States Pentagon and White House, especially with the audience that attends the SALT Conference.
Why? Read this post and his resume. You'll understand why.
Karl Nell, today, has four (4) bosses over him.
What do you reckon the average net worth of a SALT guest in the crowd is? Eight figures? Nine?
  1. We were not the audience for Karl Nell tonight.
  2. American industry and Congress were the audience.
A number of the cell phones in the crowd for Nell will have personal phone numbers of United States Senators and House members. Guaranteed.

Karl Nell endorsed two figures in "UFO" history tonight

Karl Nell is a step removed from the National Security Council. These people don't speak out of turn, and certainly not to tell the leaders of American industry that "aliens are real, NHI is real, and yeah, they've been here a long time," and... then name drop two foreign officials who flat out argued that we're covering up diplomatic relations with a "Galactic Federation".
But Karl Nell did exactly that in New York City today.
That would be Paul Hellyer and Haim Eshed. My jaw dropped how instantly and full-throated he was with the latter two as people to look toward:
Again:
  1. Karl Nell is an active Pentagon official four (4) steps removed from the United States PRESIDENT.
  2. Nell just told the world to look to a Canadian minister of defense and the found of Israel's space program.
  3. Who both say the world is secretly in contact with a Federation of outer space cultures.
A military leader four steps from Joe Biden said to look to Hellyer and Eshed.

What did Karl Nell have to say about David Grusch in 2023?

Source:
Quotes about Nell:
Karl E. Nell, a recently retired Army Colonel and current aerospace executive who was the Army’s liaison for the UAP Task Force from 2021 to 2022 and worked with Grusch there, characterizes Grusch as “beyond reproach.”
In a 2022 performance evaluation, Laura A. Potter, Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, Headquarters, Department of the Army, described Nell as “an officer with the strongest possible moral compass.”
Karl Nell on David Grusch:
“His assertion concerning the existence of a terrestrial arms race occurring sub-rosa over the past eighty years focused on reverse engineering technologies of unknown origin is fundamentally correct, as is the indisputable realization that at least some of these technologies of unknown origin derive from non-human intelligence,” said Karl Nell, the retired Army Colonel who worked with Grusch on the UAP Task Force.

Who is Karl Nell?

He works here today:
This is Karl Nell's boss:
The AFC reports directly to the Army Chief of Staff and the Secretary of the Army:
Who do they report to?
United States Secretary of the Army reports to:
Which only reports to:
So the chain of command for Nell today is:
  1. Joe Biden
  2. Lloyd Austin
  3. Christine Wormuth
  4. James Rainey
  5. Karl Nell

Biden touts PACT Act milestone as he focuses his pitch on veterans
President Joe Biden kicked off a series of events Tuesday that will focus on members of the military by highlighting a bipartisan law he signed two years ago to help veterans who’ve been exposed to burn pits or other poisons more easily receive care.
Biden, in his second trip to New Hampshire this election year, marked a milestone for the PACT Act: Veterans Affairs’ approval of the 1 millionth claim under the law. He pointed to the data as evidence that he is following through with the country’s “sacred obligation” to take care of America’s veterans.
Biden plans to continue highlighting veterans’ issues in the coming weeks with events at home and abroad.
He’s scheduled to participate in Memorial Day services at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia on Monday, days before his family is expected to privately mark the ninth anniversary of Beau Biden’s death.
A week later, Biden will travel to Normandy, France, to participate in ceremonies marking the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion. In France, Biden is expected to give a major speech about the heroism of Allied forces in World War II and the continued threats to democracy today.

AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE/GETTY IMAGES

TD;LR my (25f) partner (29m) has been unemployed for nine months and relies on me financially but has given no indication of marriage or leveling himself up.
my partner and i have been together for almost four years (four years in june). our relationship this past year has been horrible. bad fights, him leaving etc. he’s been laid off three times since we’ve been together and for the past nine months i’ve paid 100% of all living expenses.
in the beginning of our relationship he definitely paid for most things but i always helped with groceries dates smaller bills etc. so it’s never been completely on him. i’m at my breaking point right now. i’m very serious about money and i also want to be someone’s wife. he has a gambling problem (used to be casinos, then sports betting, now it’s trading memecoins) where he can and has lost thousands of dollars at a time. he’s also made thousands of dollars at a time. that said, in NINE months he hasn’t paid a dollar towards any of our shared living expenses. i’ve sent him so many job recs, offered to make intros with my network, etc and he hasn’t done any of it. i work at a startup so sometimes im literally working 12 hour days; ive brought up how it feels like i have no support and that it could also just be him cleaning or cooking because i do all of that too (and honestly i would prefer me doing this if he had a literal job :/) and he gets angry and says he’s carried the load for so long…. i genuinely feel like it’s sexist and he refuses to see the effort and the monetary constraints im under. when he’s left i feel like he’s only come back because he’s broke. he’s asked me to pay for his vapes and i even paid off his overdraft on top of our regular living expenses this matters because well he made 10k last night and hasn’t expressed how he intends to help at all. i feel taken advantage of and like i can’t bring up money without him redirecting to another time i got upset or overreacted about something in the past or he’ll make jokes about bankruptcy etc which i find frustrating. he doesn’t come on to me either and is literally just on the computer 24/7.
how do i approach this??? am i wasting my time??? he literally never talks about the future and i just feel sick giving my literal dollars and effort to someone im not married to and like im a placeholder being taken advantage of by an adult child. what do you recommend? am i not being supportive which he’s said?

2024.05.22 02:12 Puzzleheaded_Fix7560 How to (safely) find out what I currently owe on an old medical debt?

I'm in a state of rebuilding financially after some serious health issues over these past few years. I had surgery a few years ago (out-of-state and out-of-network) and my post-op surgical bill was massive-- like, $300k massive, despite everything having been approved and green-stamped by my health insurance company beforehand. I got boned by my health insurance in like 8 different ways, but most notably by the Maximum Allowable Fee-- so instead of owing $10,000 (my OON out-of-pocket max) I was billed $300,000 while my insurance only paid a few thousand toward the debt. I was billed $300,000 by my doctors while my insurance's out-of-network out-of-pocket max was not even considered "met" yet. :/ And I did everything I knew to do at the time to make sure everything was cleared with my insurance beforehand (hours on the phone making sure the hospital was in-network, making sure all the surgical codes were approved, getting estimates, etc etc), so now I feel a little ill-equipped in my ability to protect myself against future debt.
Anyway.
After the surgery, I was profoundly disabled for a couple years, stopped paying on any medical bills, totally destroyed my finances, and lost track of the status of the various insurance appeals I had submitted at that time. So I have no idea what I currently owe my former medical providers (vs the $300K I was billed 4 years ago), and I would like to know the best way to find out what I actually owe them without potentially resetting any debt clocks or putting new activity on an account that might otherwise be written off by my doctor-- the debt is nearly 5 years old now, so it's possible it might be getting close to that point.
Has anyone ever dealt with anything like this before, or have any resources they can point me to on how to protect myself? Without knowing how much I actually owe my surgeon and his team, the decision of medical bankruptcy vs negotiating the debt down (settling for less) is kind of an impossible one.
Many thanks!

An Egyptian spy single-handedly ruined the Israel-Hamas cease-fire: CNN
An Egyptian spy torpedoed a potential cease-fire deal between Israel and Hamas earlier this month by secretly changing its terms before handing it between the warring sides, CNN reports.
The intelligence official, Ahmed Abdel Khalek, changed the deal after Israel had already agreed to it by adding in more of Hamas' demands to the framework to clinch their approval, according to the report.
Abdel Khalek works for Abbas Kamel, according to CNN, who is the head of Egypt's general intelligence service.
If it had been passed, the deal could have seen the release of some Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners and temporarily paused combat. US officials have pushed for a temporary cease-fire in the hopes that a stop to the fighting could open the possibility to a more lasting peace.
Officials involved in the talks from Qatar, the US, and Israel were blindsided and angered by the spy's secret changes, according to CNN.
Neither the CIA nor the State Department immediately responded to Business Insider's requests for comment.
Hamas announced it had agreed to the deal on May 6, which Qatar and Egypt helped negotiate. At the time, an anonymous Israeli official told Reuters the announcement was a "ruse intended to make Israel look like the side refusing a deal."
Mediators had hoped the deal would stave off Israel's incursion into Rafah, which is now expanding.
The scuttled cease-fire also dashes a priority for US President Joe Biden. Biden is locked in a tight race with rival Donald Trump, but the Democrat is facing a revolt from left-wing voters who accuse him of supporting the killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza by sending Israel weaponry.
