2024.05.21 04:33 C39J Spice Club, Beach Road

Spice Club, Beach Road
As someone who has eaten many a butter chicken, including high rated places like Tiffin, I have to say, this is the best butter chicken and naan you can get in Auckland.
I'm usually a sweet, bright orange mall/Shamiana butter chicken kind of person, but Spice Club blows it out of the park. It's a tiny bit spicier than your standard butter chicken, but it manages to be so creamy and flavorful without the regret that comes from your standard flouro orange fare.
The naan is top notch. I'm a big fan of cheese and garlic and they pack it.
They also include a good portion of rice with all their curries.
I would consider myself a bit of an expert, according to Uber eats, I've ordered butter chicken from 14 different places in 3 different countries 😎.

Weight loss plateau - advice pls
Hi all, looking for some advice about my journey on keto. Stats: 37 m, 170cm height, 108kg as of April.
Started keto’ing in April first week. Weight loss started well in the initial few weeks but now I’m sitting at around 104-103kg and fluctuating.
Pretty new to keto so I wouldn’t say I’m any expert.
Typical day diet: Protein shake if I go to the gym in the morning about 5g carbs per serve. I skip brekkie and just have a piccolo.
Lunch: Medium salad consisting of Caesar salad with eggs (no croutons) and a chicken schnitzel salad with lettuce. Snacks: occasionally Brie or sliced cheese, ham, Perroni.
Dinner: chicken bake, meatballs, a beef curry. Usually just meat.
Weekends: most damage done here I think. Usually some low carb seltzers or beer (4-6), Korean fried chicken or Nashville chicken, kebab meat with salad. Usually avoid carbs.
Dessert: whipped cream and berry, low carb keto choc.
Physical activity: Resistance training 2-3 times a week.
Can I get some suggestions on where I’m going wrong? I haven’t had electrolytes as I haven’t had any major symptoms. Occasionally used to have the odd pickle here and there.

2024.05.20 23:12 Alarmed-Stage-7066 Stardew Valley Cookbook recipe reviews

Because of whimsy & completionism, I've decided to cook every recipe in the new cookbook. I thought it would also be fun to post "reviews" of each recipe for additional whimsy and to encourage/help other players who may be newer to cooking. Initial, general thoughts on the cookbook are: it is gorgeous and anyone who loves Stardew and cooks AT ALL would enjoy having it. The recipes seem thoughtful and well-crafted. It seems targeted for a more intermediate cook or an adventurous beginner. If you haven't cooked before, this could make a fun first cookbook if you're willing to do some work to learn new skills and try things out. The instructions do a good job of hand-holding without any steps left out. They are (obviously) mostly made from fresh, whole ingredients and most of them are a little more work than a usual weeknight dinner. Scratch cooking with a side of game lore, who could ask for anything more?
I'm going to follow each recipe exactly as written with notes of any substitutions (e.g. I'm not sure if I can source fiddlehead ferns where I live) I plan to do it with teen daughter and we've created two rating systems. Both ratings are completely subjective and just for fun. I'm a hobby, but very experienced (*), cook/baker. Teen is about to turn 16 and obviously not as skilled. Between the two of us we should be able to give you an idea of how hard a recipe would be.
I'll add links here along the way.
First rating scale: Grandpa's candles, This is how much we (again, subjectively) enjoyed eating the dish.
Second rating scale: Tool rating Complexity/difficulty/time consumed. On a scale of copper, iron, gold or iridium, how much work is this recipe? The rating might reflect a trickier technique or just a lot of steps/time involved.

2024.05.20 04:31 im_invisible_bun I'm too embarrassed to see a doctor

please don't make fun of me, I know this subreddit is all about this but it's my first time telling anyone and I'm scared. also potential trigger warning my diet is extremely bad, I know I am not getting the nutrients I need and I need help but don't know where to start. I eat mostly carbs/bread and basic foods. I am vegetarian because meat makes me throw up. my main meals are beyond meat burgers with potato smiles, plain pasta, cheese pizza every now and again, curry sauce with naan and potato smiles and sometimes with plain rice. I don't eat dinner every day because it makes me feel awful that all I'm putting into my body is pure fat and shit. I snack a fair bit in the day, mainly yogurts, kids lunchbox type fruity snacks, bread, apple bags, sweets, cereal and more. I try to try new foods, my sister likes a lot of foods, spicy stuff, things with lots of flavour and if I'm there while she is cooking I will try a bit of what she is cooking because I want to. recently she had this pulled pork with bbq rice microwave meal and I tried some of the rice and I liked it. she has lots of flavour rice packets and adds them to her own meals and I like it sometimes but I couldn't eat a bowl of it. I wish I could. I cry so much about it. I would love to eat a full, proper meal. spaghetti carbonara was one of the most normal foods I could eat until one day i was sick after eating it and I couldnt eat it again. I know I need to see a doctor but I can, I'm scared of them, I'm scared of needles, I'm scared they're going to want to do tests and blood work and I'm absolutely terrified. I don't know how to find a specialist without a 3 year long waiting time. I'm not underweight, I'm overweight, I'm 160lbs and 5,5/6 but I am loosing weight because of work, my days are 9 or 10 hours with 1.5h commute each way and by the time I get home I am too tired to think about eating and when I do eat, I'm too sensitive and will end up crying about my unhealthy eating habits. I was 183lbs at my heaviest but ive lost 23lbs in 2 months since starting but I need to work, I can't not work. I'm scared I'll need a feeding tube or have to be put on a diet plan of stressful fear foods. please give me a reality check, tell me I need to see a doctor seriously, tell me I desperately need help because I cannot make that desicion on my own and I need someone to tell me even if I know its the right thing to do

2024.05.20 01:04 CBanga An Updated Pizza Sunday Ranked List

In February, I made a post about a 2024 hobby for my wife and I. We are making an effort to eat pizza every Sunday, and then we update a list, power ranking style, to determine the best pizza we will eat in 2024.
Our list is almost too long to cover in one Apple Notes screenshot, so decided it was time to give an update. Here is the list as of today.
Some notes: I don’t eat meat, so mostly cheese. But occasionally my wife will have meat toppings. The pizza place does not need to be in Chicago, though the list is essentially nearly all Chicago. All styles are welcome. We rank based on our feeling about the pizza(s) we order, and any appetizer, side, or issue with service/delivery should not be considered. We did miss Easter Sunday, and we apologize for it.

2024.05.20 00:57 DrLith Lambsquarters: am I the problem?

So after all the high prays for lambsquarters in the recent underrated wild foods, I decided to give it another shot. Several years ago when I had recently moved to my property I had read on some foraging blog about how Lamb's quarters made a nice addition to salad greens. I tried that one day when I was low on store-bought lettuce. I did not like them at all; the powdery surface was a turnoff and I found them pretty bitter. For background, I'm fairly picky about the greens that I tolerate/enjoy and I find a lot of stuff is too bitter for my liking without heavily disguising it in some sort of flavorful dish like curry or tomato sauce. I don't like raw spinach or kale, for example, but I do like saag paneer or moderate amounts of kale in soup. This time I tried sauteing it in butter with a mild garlicky Mexican seasoning blend and a dash of lime juice, because I find that the sour of citrus does a good job of offsetting the bitterness of some vegetables that I find disagreeable. And dusted it in cotijo cheese for good measure. Nevertheless when I served myself a small amount and went to chew, I could barely swallow. The lambsquarters I harvested were fairly small; 4-8 inches tall at most. I tried to remove most of the stems but because the leaves were actually so small it was not really feasible to have leaf only. The overall impression was a stringy and bitter. I was almost unable to eat it, but I found that by taking turns between bites of my main dish of enchiladas and this lambsquarter saute I was able to eat the small amount that I had cooked. So my question to the sub is: am I preparing this wrong, or is it just me and lambsquarters is not among the forged greens that I like in any significant amount? So far my favorite foraged greens have been pigweed, pokeweed, stinging nettles, and common mallow, all of which I blanched first and drain and then add as a secondary ingredient in something like a spaghetti sauce or chili. Should I try blanching it? Should I actually wait until it's a little bit bigger and make more of an effort to remove the stems? Or should I just toss it in the compost? I'm a little bummed because it is so prolific.

Another failed attempt at Korean noodles
Now hear me out, I do like the creamy texture the cheese powder provides but even this cheese one is too goddamn spicy!! I have tried samyang and k pot jjajangmyeon one but why do these Korean noodles have to be soo goddamn spicy. The spice completes takes the focus away from the other flavors in the noodles. I can't take more than 3-4 bites without water or cold drink and by the time I finish eating, I'm left gasping for air and have to drink 2-3 glasses of water to decrease the spice. Are there any Korean noodles that have more flavor to them other than just being spicy??
