2024.05.29 11:27 RubixKuber Got my ideal job just as entire life imploded. How to manage performance with being borderline homeless?

TL;DR at the end.
Just to preface my post.. This problem sort of borders between professional and personal, so please bear with me because the crux really does relate back to how to manage my work. I totally understand this is a professional subreddit, and want to highlight that I'm not after personal advice here. I've gone into detail about everything in this post because I feel like it's relevant to any potential management strategies for making sure I don't get PIP'd. I'm sure I can't be the only person here who's had to manage a career and life at the same time so I'm hoping to receive some thoughts from people who have been in similar situations.
I've mostly worked in deeply technical support roles prior to this - so ad-hoc bug fixes, minor feature implementations, troubleshooting, etc. It's been "dev-lite" work, where I act as a sustaining engineeSRE-for-hire.
My new job is a huge step up in that I'm joining a team of developers who wanted someone with more of an ops background. I've been doing out of scope development work for years now, so I'm thrilled that I can now fit that into my work day as part of my assigned duties.
This is awesome, since it's exactly the challenge I was hoping for. I've never been in an actual development team before, though, so I'm picking things up a tiny bit slowly as I'm spending a lot of time on making sure I learn good habits from the get-go.. Rather than just pushing something out because it works, I'm spending a day or two researching my solution and trying to figure out whether there's a better one, or whether there's already an established process or pattern within my new org.
My main issue here is my entire personal life has sort of imploded. Major breakup saw me moving in with my brother & his wife. Long story short, I may have been too optimistic about our compatibility as roommates and we're no longer on talking terms. Both of our faults. This has caused us both a lot of distress. I'm no longer on speaking terms with his wife and I'm not sure I ever will or want to be again. An old friend who I reconnected with recently committed suicide, and one of my best friends is overseas and has recently attempted his own third suicide. Stress just seems to be growing from every angle. In the last two months I've lost almost everyone close to me.
So on top of the breakup and fissure in my family life, I'm trying to find a forever home. I've been looking to purchase an apartment since the breakup.. Which leaves me now bouncing between Airbnb's while searching for a flat share that doesn't mind an incredibly vague potential 1-12 month lease. This has been harder than I thought it'd be, nobody wants to deal with that and I can't really blame them. Every 3 - 8 days I pack up my entire life, drive to the next Airbnb, unpack everything, and start work. It's exhausting, and more importantly to this post, distracting me from being able to put in anywhere near 100% at work.
I'm running around to inspections constantly too, which adds another layer to everything here.
I've had to leave my dog at my ex girlfriends place, since any Airbnb that is pet friendly in an area close to my property search is steeply more expensive.
Look, I get it's messy. As I said, I'm not here for advice on my personal life. I understand the answer to a lot of this is therapy and self improvement. The issue is, my quality of work is significantly worse because of all this and I'm worried I'll end up getting fired immediately after signing up for a mortgage. No amount of therapy or gym memberships will fix that, and if I lose my job I'll go from "I'm homeless, ha ha" to "I'm homeless, I sleep under a bridge", so I've got to find a solution to this incredibly inconvenient problem at the worst possible time. It sucks but it is what it is.

TL;DR:

2024.05.29 11:27 KameraTaylor Embrace Productivity with Fezibo Standing Desk: A Game-Changer in Your Work Setup

Are you ready to revolutionize your work routine? Dive into the world of productivity with Fezibo Standing Desk, the ultimate companion for your office or home workspace. In today's fast-paced environment, optimizing productivity is key, and having the right tools can make all the difference. Let's delve into why Fezibo Standing Desk is the game-changer you've been searching for.

The Rise of Standing Desk

Before we explore the wonders of Fezibo Standing Desk, let's take a quick look at the trend of standing desks. With the increasing awareness of the health risks associated with prolonged sitting, more and more people are turning to standing desks as a solution. Research suggests that alternating between sitting and standing throughout the day can alleviate back pain, improve posture, and boost productivity.

Fezibo Sit Stand Desk: A Cut Above the Rest

Fezibo stands out in the crowd of standing desks for several reasons. First and foremost, its ergonomic design is engineered to promote comfort and productivity simultaneously. With adjustable height settings, you can easily customize the desk to suit your preferences, whether you prefer to sit, stand, or switch between the two.

Unlocking the Power of Semantic Search

In addition to primary keywords, leveraging Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) keywords can further enhance your SEO strategy. LSI keywords are terms that are semantically related to your primary keyword, helping search engines understand the context of your content. When discussing Fezibo Standing Desk, incorporating LSI keywords such as "office ergonomics," "productivity tools," and "health benefits of standing" can enrich your content and improve its searchability.

The Health Benefits of Electric Standing Desk

One of the key selling points of Fezibo Standing Desk is its potential health benefits. Studies have shown that using a standing desk can reduce the risk of obesity, heart disease, and even certain types of cancer. By encouraging movement and better posture, Fezibo Standing Desk empowers you to prioritize your health while maximizing your productivity.

Benefits of Adjustable Height Desk

The primary appeal of standing desks lies in their potential health benefits. Prolonged sitting has been linked to numerous health issues, including obesity, cardiovascular disease, and musculoskeletal problems. By contrast, using a standing desk can help mitigate these risks. Regularly standing and moving throughout the day can improve posture, increase energy levels, and reduce the likelihood of developing chronic conditions. Moreover, standing desks promote better circulation and can aid in weight management by burning more calories than sitting. For those seeking to enhance their well-being while working, a sit stand desk offers a practical and effective solution.

Types of L Shaped Standing Desk

Standing desks come in various designs to accommodate different work styles and environments. Adjustable height desks are popular for their versatility, allowing users to easily change the desk's height to switch between sitting and standing positions. Electric standing desks offer a more convenient option, with motorized adjustments that enable smooth transitions at the push of a button. For those with limited space or specific layout requirements, an L-shaped standing desk provides ample work surface while fitting neatly into corners. These desks not only support ergonomic principles but also contribute to a more organized and efficient workspace.

Implementing Standing Desks in the Workplace

Transitioning to a small standing desk requires careful planning and consideration. It's essential to choose a desk that suits your specific needs and preferences. For instance, if you prefer frequent adjustments, an electric standing desk may be ideal. Additionally, proper ergonomics must be maintained to avoid strain and discomfort. This includes ensuring the desk is at the correct height, using an anti-fatigue mat for standing, and positioning monitors and keyboards at eye level. Gradually increasing standing time can help the body adjust and prevent fatigue. By thoughtfully integrating a standing desk into your routine, you can maximize its benefits and improve your overall work experience.

The Future of Office Furniture

The adoption of adjustable desk with drawers signifies a broader shift towards health-conscious and flexible work environments. As more research highlights the dangers of sedentary behavior, employers are increasingly recognizing the importance of promoting physical activity and well-being in the workplace. Standing desks are becoming a standard feature in modern offices, reflecting a commitment to employee health and productivity. The trend towards customizable and ergonomic furniture is likely to continue, with innovations such as smart desks that monitor posture and activity levels. By embracing these advancements, companies can create more dynamic and supportive workspaces.

Productivity Tips for Standing Desk Users

Now that you've embraced the power of Fezibo's standing gaming desk, it's time to maximize its potential. Here are some productivity tips to help you make the most of your standing desk experience:
Alternate Between Sitting and Standing: Find a balance between sitting and standing throughout the day to prevent fatigue and maintain focus.
Take Regular Breaks: Incorporate short breaks into your routine to stretch, walk around, and refresh your mind.
Stay Organized: Keep your standing computer desk clutter-free to minimize distractions and maximize efficiency.
Invest in Ergonomic Accessories: Consider investing in ergonomic accessories such as a supportive chair, footrest, and anti-fatigue mat to enhance your comfort.
Stay Hydrated and Energized: Keep a water bottle nearby and fuel your body with nutritious snacks to sustain your energy levels throughout the day.

The Future of Work: Embracing Innovation

Fezibo Standing Desk exemplifies the fusion of technology and wellness, offering a glimpse into the future of workspaces. 2024.05.29 11:21 Yezo_69 Sobriety is the best thing I ever did as a parent

Last month I posted about how this group changed my life. Today as I sit one more month sober. I wanted to share my story. Especially to all the mothers out there who may be struggling:
I was always the fun drunk.
Looking back now it was actually detrimental to me because I was such a shy kid naturally. Alcohol made me confident. I was finally able to talk to the boys. They liked me when I drank. I loved the attention I never got. It was all good when I was young.
As I got older and moved to the big city alone with my two little children. And their dad leaving. It became some of the loneliest years of my life. I started drinking at night to just relax. Forget all my problems with their dad and past relationships. It worked for many years. I was pretty responsible. I didn’t drive drunk. I wasn’t mean.
I had mean drunks in my life as a child. I knew what a drunk was. I saw it growing up. I wasn’t her.
Well that’s what I would tell myself.
I drank to get drunk. When I drank I did not want to stop and sometimes did not until 4 am. I can handle my liquor well and was very functioning. I wouldn’t drink during the day.. cause that’s what alcoholics do. I told myself.
I would wake up hungover saying “ugh I’m never drinking again!”
I meant it. I know my health took a toll.
Then the hangovers would wear off then there I was again. At the gas station at 8 pm.
I prayed so many times. God please let me give this up. The habit though was so strong. I couldn’t seem to fight it. For years. The never ending cycle.
I got to where though.. I started honestly to despise it. I hated the hold it had on me. I even hated the taste. I really think it’s something bigger than me. Something.. someone in my head said, it’s time.
I had gotten a pint of whiskey. It was the weekend. I could drink it all. Don’t have to wake up early. No problem.
I took one sip of my mixed coke zero & whiskey. Took the bottle and poured it down the kitchen drain. In that moment I knew for certain I was done.
It was a little challenging at first. Honestly though it wasn’t that hard. What was hard is facing the issues head on and sober.
I’m facing things for the first time in a very long time completely sober minded. It’s kinda like I am getting to feel so many emotions all at once. It’s a lot at times. I told my child last week to give me some grace. It will take time to come into my own completely but I am getting there little by little everyday.
I feel so much smarter now. I know that sounds so silly. I do though. I feel so sorry for that girl. I don’t even who know that person was. However, I am very aware it was me. I think that is what hurts the most.
A lot of regret and time wasted. I can’t focus on that though. I gotta focus on the good. Damn.. there is SO much good! It’s just so nice to finally feel good and feel like me.
I missed her for so long.
But at least I found her.
I wanted to share that story because I know there is so many mom's out there struggling. I see it on here and it breaks my heart cause for so long I was that girl.
My son said other day, "Mom you sure don't sleep as much as you use to."
That really hit home. All the wasted time I missed on I'm sure cause I was to hungover to play. Now they are older teens now and don't want to play, so it stings even more.
I've always prided myself on being a good mother. But now looking back I can admit I am sure I did hurt them in some way.
Pouring down that whiskey was the best thing I did for me and my kids. It will continue to always be the best gift.
To all the moms & dads: Please know that.
I see it all clearly now and I will NOT go back. Fuck that shit. None of it was ever worth it. There is absolutely nothing I miss about drinking. Not one damn thing. Funny huh since I did it for so many years.
Anyways that's my story and I'm sticking to it. 😆 I wish everyone continued happiness and sobriety. Thanks my awesome sober friends! IWNDWYT 😎

2024.05.29 11:20 Honest_Bandicoot4554 AITA for wanting to end things with my much older bf?

first of all, i already know this post will be approached with a lot of judgement, and i know this is reddit but all i’m asking for is a little bit of sensitivity because i’m about to be very vulnerable. lets just jump right in lol. growing up i was overweight until i was 18. i was bullied heavily & very insecure, so on my 18th bday i signed up for a gym membership and have been going ever since. months after my 18th birthday i started working somewhere and there was a much older (41M) man who started to hit on me. i know its pathetic, but i had never gotten any type of attention like that before and eventually after a bit, he ended up taking my virginity. he told me he was in love with me and stuff but this was obviously not true and theres other things that were very manipulative and not fully consensual but not necessary to explain for this story. after i lost my virginity to someone sooo much older, i was CERTAIN i was damaged goods and no one could or ever would love me again. i searched for love in anyone and anything i could find it. about a year after i lost my v card, i started talking to another 40 year old man, we’ll call him Robbie.. (i was genuinely convinced no one my age would ever care about me) at first, the relationship was honestly great. it was unconventional and weird, and i knew that, but i finally was able to love someone and have them love me back. the relationship turned very toxic very quick and one of our worst fights ended up getting physical & weapons were involved as well. it was NOT just his fault, i need to be clear on that. i (obviously) had a lot of very deep mental health struggles that needed to be worked on and neither i, nor him were innocent in the toxicity. fast forward about a year to now, i’m 21 now, and in a much better place mentally then i was when i was 18. recently Robbie and I started talking again, but theres just one problem. i’m not the same person i used to be. the connection has changed now that i am more stable and that deeply concerns me. we have been a lot healthier than last time since we started talking again, but honestly? as much as i do care for him, i feel as though its time to end everything with him for good. this sounds harsh and i don’t mean it that way, but i did settle for him, and not because hes a bad person or ugly or any of that bullshit, but because ive always wanted a big epic love story and i’ve always known i wouldn’t have it with him, but still value having him in my life. i feel guilty about it because i can see that hes working very hard on fixing things between us, but the truth is, i’m just ready to move on. i love love and i always have and probably always will, but it used to be the most important thing to me, and its just not anymore. i want to be loved by MYSELF now and i don’t think that staying in this relationship will help that. am i the asshole for leading him on basically while i try to figure out who i am now? like i said, i do care a lot about him, but tbh i just want to experience a normal relationship w someone my age.

2024.05.29 11:19 evilR32 Life with Panky

27M (NZ) previous alcoholic pancreatitis. Diagnosed Acute in 2022, Diagnosed Chronic in 2024 after a multi fight with multiple infections. Acute was diagnosed by second onset of attack (severe) including ultrasound, lipase 1520, elevated liver function, inflammatory markers and mild jaundice. Chronic was diagnosed with Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency, MRCP, MRI and no lipase, high HB1AC diabeties. Further diagnoses required for ongoing abdominal issues. (Upper endoscopy) found further with moderate gastritis and scarring of the lamina due to acid and heavy alcohol usage. Took biopsies of all discharridase and found all low enzyme used to digest lactose, carbohydrates, protein, sugars and certain lipids. Abdominal wind and pain up and around the rib cage and ongoing discomfort on the left quadrant. Rapid weight loss of 43lb. Loss of appetite and lethargic.
Now on 25000 pancrealipase, pantoprazole, supplemented with mens multi and fish oil. Green & Chamomile tea every day, Good dr manuka honey. Berry Berocca for extra energy. Gradual back to training 5 days a week, eat 4 times a day, gained all the weight back. Now also supplementing on Metamucil 1 tsp per day to combat cholesterol, triglycerides and help move things through... i poop super good with that since creon constipates me.
Cant miss the kiwifruit on a weekend too. Low fat greek yoghurt and pea protein shakes. Now managing chronic panky well, gradually back to a normal life routine. No drugs, no alcohol, no pain killers. Residual pain on occasion but subsides quite quickly compared to 4 attacks ive had in 2022 and a further 3 during 2023. Id die to have mild over severe any day, and there is not a single day i drop my guard for an attack to happen again. Fingers crossed. Thanks all.

2024.05.29 11:16 flowersfruits NEED HELP! Cat meowing constantly all day…

Hi all,
I really need some help because I’m at my breaking point with my Ragdoll cat, she just won’t stop meowing.
I have two Ragdolls and one Russian blue all roughly the same age (5,4,6 all female and have been fixed.) The issue is with my 5 year old Ragdoll, she meows all day every day for no reason. She has access to dry food, wet food, water, an outside catio and I try to play with all the cats twice a day.
There is nothing wrong with her medically and a few years ago booked a session with a cat behaviourist who gave us a few tips eg. Move the food further away from the litter trays, move the water away from the food and only give her attention when she stops meowing… the problem with this is she will meow for HOURS non stop!
We reached a point where we fell into a good routine and she meowed only a few times a day, which is no biggie- turns out she just wanted fresh wet pouches put down.
Recently we welcomed our first baby home and the meowing has become unbearable… she constantly wakes the baby and my husband is unable to concentrate while working (we both work from home.) I admit for a while we weren’t playing with the cats as much because taking care of a newborn is exhausting but we always made sure they had clean litter trays, food, water & cuddles.
I’ve started to play with them twice a day again but the meowing has not improved at all, it’s been 3 months and it feels like it’s only getting worse. I don’t know what to do...
Any advice is welcomed (please!)

2024.05.29 11:13 _Scorpyon_ PoH bindings compared to Radiant HoG

I love this game and, even if I technically completed it with all the achievements, I just can't move on. I started doing radiant HoG and I'm 9 bosses away from completing it (even tho it will still take a long time, since the bosses are Galien, Markoth, Xero, Gorb, Elder Hu, Oro & Mato, Sheo, Sly and Abs Rad). The only other thing that I would have to do once I finish the HoG is the bindings on p5, so I'm wondering:
1) how difficult is p5 with each binding (I'm planning on doing them one at a time, I'm not quite masochist enough to do them all at once) compared to radiant HoG?
2) will my skill level be high enough to allow me to try to do the bindings immediately after finishing HoG or will I have to train a bit more?
3) are there any tips for each binding I may want to know?
I obviously did all the bindings in the other pantheons, but I struggled quite a bit in p4 at the time (I hadn't started my radiant HoG journey yet). The thought of doing 30-45 minutes of pantheon just to die to Markoth and the Abs Rad climb (I was literally able to do all the other phases no hit but I always get hit during the climb) doesn't exactly boost my motivation, but maybe I'll feel more comfortable once I do those 2 on radiant.
The shell binding (even with Heart) sounds the scariest honestly, considering how the Radiance once pulled off a 3x combo on me during the climb

I saw a call in my phone and pick it up .. There was my mom in the phone .. she told me that they were going to my uncle house .. When I heard that I collapsed .. As I turned my head . I saw my father and mother watching me and smiling in a creepy way .. As I looked at them . My father stood up and looked at me I realised that my father eye has turned black .. As he told me in a creepy sound " Come to your father " .. I was fricked out and hurriedly closed the door .. Both of my parent were banging the door .. And shouting " Open the door sweetie " But as they got louder and louder .. my parents voice turned into a veryyyy loud and creepy voice . I hurried and called my parents .. But I realize I don't have balance to call back .. So I hurried and called the cops .. The lock on the door was also going to broke . Lucky the call was picked by a officer .. he asked me " what happened " ..I didn't have any word to tell .. so I shouted " Help Help me plzz😭😭 .. In a hurry I told him my address .. but before I would complete the full sentence .. The door opened . And my eyes went blank .. After a while I was in my bed .. There were cops . My parents were outside .. As they saw me waking up they came running to me and asked what happened .. I just told them a lie .. that was a theft .. As my parents were talking to the cops .. I saw towards the table and saw a cup .. As I realized .. I saw a shadow towards the hallway .. After that incident I went to my sister house to living . For couple of days. RIGHT now .. I study at grade 12 but that days still Hunt me .. Till now I haven't forgot those creepy sound .. and smile at there face ..
This is me Arces signing off

Is this an interview scam email?
This looks like a fake email. Do people actually do this to scam job seekers? There is no proper company name written anywhere. And the part where they tell to click the advertisement looks like a scam. Any idea anyone? They even have my phone number 🥲

2024.05.29 11:12 Other-Cantaloupe4765 Asshole refuses to move his motorcycles out of the way, so I kicked his ass out. His GF returned to throw a screaming fit.

Like many hotels, at the front of our building we have sort of a covered arch in front of our main entrance. The area where people park temporarily while they check in and unload their luggage before moving it to an actual parking space. That thing. Whatever it’s called.
Earlier in the afternoon, a man came inside to check in. He was very nice and respectful. He asked if it would be okay for him to park his motorcycle outside under the arch for the night as long as he keeps it out of the way. I glanced outside to see where it was. It was just a small motorcycle, and he had it parked flush against the edge of this area, so I said that was fine as long as it stayed there and wasn’t obstructing traffic in any way.
Great, end of story, right? Wrong! A few hours later, David checks in with his gf. They have two wide motorcycles, and each one has a bigass trailer attached to the back of it. They parked them both under the unloading area outside. I figured that they’d move them since they were obviously blocking a lot of traffic trying to get through. If a truck or RV couldn’t get through, how the hell is a fire truck or an ambulance supposed to get through?
They checked in, paid in cash, and went up to their room. When I next saw David walking through the lobby a few minutes later, I asked if he was planning to move the vehicles since they were obstructing others. He dismissed me and said, “maybe after the storm. I’ll think about it.”
Bitch what? He’d already gotten in the elevator, so I waited a few minutes. I got two guest complaints about not being able to get their cars through the arch. So after speaking to those guests and apologizing, I called Dave’s room. Twice. No answer. I called his cellphone. He answered. I said I’d gotten multiple complaints and that I needed him to please come down and move the vehicles. He said fine, he’d be down in a few minutes.
He did come down after a few minutes. He did go outside. But idk what he did out there because he most certainly did not move the vehicles. Ten minutes later I see him walk through the lobby, but a guest was coming in at that time, so I couldn’t catch him. The guest complained about the two large bikes outside. David walked through the lobby again a couple minutes later to go back outside.
After another five minutes, he came back in, and I caught him before he got in the elevator. I asked him to move the bikes as soon as possible. He said he wasn’t moving shit. I said, “you need to move them soon, please.”
“Tell ya what, you get the other guy to move his bike first, and then I’ll think about moving mine.”
“I need you to move them soon, please.”
He ignored me and went up to his room.
I had a couple things to do in the meantime, but after 15 minutes without him moving the bikes, I called his room. He picked up by saying “what?”
“I’ve asked you nicely multiple times. Now I’m telling you that you either move the vehicles somewhere else or you find another place to stay.”
“How about I come down to the desk and you give me my money back.”
“Great.” And I hung up. I got the correct amount out of the drawer and paper clipped it for whenever he got down to the desk.
He arrived and I held out his money to him. He didn’t take it. He said, “I want to speak to your manager now.”
“My manager isn’t here right now. You need to leave.” and I sort of shook my outstretched hand as an emphasis of ‘take your money and gtfo.’
“Well then give me their cellphone number because I’m calling them right now.”
“You can call the hotel tomorrow. Right now you need to leave.”
“This is fucking bullshit. If one person can park out front, you have to let everyone park out front. You can’t pick and choose. It’s not fair.”
Oh grow the fuck up 🙄 They aren’t obstructing traffic. They asked permission. They were here hours before you showed up. Gtfo of here with that iT’s NoT fAiR bullshit. If someone leaves their car or truck out front, I call and ask them to move it, too. Why? Because it’s obstructing traffic.
So he got his shit together and left with his gf. I went upstairs to check the room, worried he’d trashed it out of spite. There was garbage thrown on the floor, but other than that it was fine. One of them left their pillow behind, so I grabbed that and took it downstairs to the office figuring that they’d be back for it later.
An hour later, GF stops at the desk and says “I want my fucking pillow back.”
I got up and noticed the elevator was still open, so obviously she’d snuck in a side door and tried to go up to the room. I asked her to return the keys. She threw them at me and said, “it’s not like it fucking matters if you have the keys, since you can change the code whenever the fuck you want.”
I just looked at her, unimpressed, and didn’t say anything. I handed her the pillow. She turned to leave but, after a few steps, she turned around, flipped me off, and screamed, “FUCK YOU. FUCK YOU, AND FUCK [hotel brand]! I’M LEAVING A BIG REVIEW FOR YOU, ASSHOLE.”
I just said, “good!” Like yeah, leave a review, bitch. I dare you.
Pissed me off so much. Worst part is, when I came in the next day, the front office manager said, “well, you must’ve done something to provoke them. You must’ve raised your voice or swore at them to make them act like that.”
Excuse me? I did not. “Well you have to think about it from their point of view. They probably felt like you were being rude to them. And the cameras don’t have sound, so we [managers] can’t really know what happened.”
Uh, yes you can, because I fucking told you. What, a lady calls you a bitch in passing and she goes on the DNR list that same hour, but this woman screams “fuck you” at me in the middle of the lobby and suddenly it’s “you must’ve provoked her, we don’t know what actually happened.”
I said I’d rather quit than work a job where management allows guests to act like that to their employees. She told me to take it up with the GM if I didn’t like it. So I did. I sent him a long email supported by examples. I said I won’t continue to work there unless the disparity in how situations are handled based on whether they happen to management vs employees is resolved. I took an extra day off. Actually got a better paying job offer too. My GM said we’ll discuss the email in person on Friday. If he takes the guest’s side, I’m taking the other job. Suck it.

2024.05.29 11:09 Administrative_Sea28 How to get my ex back M(26) F(24), very complicated

Context: Hi All, bit of context, been together four years, I (M26) have never met anyone like this girl. She is attractive, intelligent, funny, not materialistic, chilled out, kind. Here’s the problem. Since she left 7 weeks ago, i have realised how much i love this girl. The last yeatwo of our relationship I think I got very complacent. My finance job is very demanding and between work and friends I was always at the office, and then catching up with friends at the weekend.
Im not an affectionate person, I never have been and there is a reason for that (further on). I hate being touched and this was the reason for the break up. My girlfriend would time after time ask for a hug, and I would reject her, ask to be held or cuddled in bed and I would reject her. I did this for over a year. When she broke up with me, she was in tears telling me that she felt so unloved and rejected by the one person that she loved. She said all she wanted was to be held, or kissed or posted on my instagram. I let her walk away six weeks ago, apologising and saying I'm sorry I wasn’t different but she was right to be selfish.
I thought maybe I wasn’t as in to her as i needed to be. I thought that was the reason I didn’t post her on my instagram, why I wasn’t lovey dovey with her, why i wasn't different. The one thing we had that was amazing was our chemistry. We could sit on the sofa with a bottle of wine at 9 PM and at 3AM we could still be up talking about Music, Politics, Films, Friends. I have never met someone like her that we just clicked so perfectly. Even after four years together, I never felt that there was enough time in the day for us to say all the things we wanted to say to each over. We never ran out of things to say.
The past seven weeks I have realised how utterly head over heels for this women I am, how i should have showed her more that i loved her. I did show her in my ways, which is acts of service. I always fixed her car, made sure that we had fun dates planned/holidays, help her with her career When she wasn’t happy, life admin etc. That was my way of loving her. Actually, all she wanted was a little cuddle and a kiss.
I can’t get over this girl, she is the love of my life and I can’t do anything i used to be able to do without thinking about her. We lived together for the past three and a half years and the house feels empty without her.
This isn’t me missing her and wanting her back because im lonely. This is me having spent some time alone, processing what happened and realising that im about to loose one of the best things that has ever happened to me. People like her don’t come along a lot and i wish i had fought for her when she was leaving.
THE REASON I WASNT AFFECTIONATE - I was sexually assaulted from the age of nine to eleven and I have since then, been repulsed by touch. I find it really hard, and even hugging my ex would be mentally draining. I never told her this and she just thought I didn’t love Her.
The first few weeks i was phoning her but she wanted space.
Three weeks ago - i said it had been a month and if we weren’t getting back together she needed to come get her stuff from my house. It was painful seeing her dresses in the morning when getting my suit out for work. She completely changed on the phone. All of a sudden rather than saying she didn’t want me back she said “i was going to call you this weekend actally, im scared I don’t know if im making the right decision. I don’t know if im throwing something away that could be fixed, the balls in your court to see if you can change or not“. I said I wasn’t expecting that and could i have a week to think about it and see if there is help i can take to be more open and affectionate. She agreed.
Two weeks ago - I phoned her up and explained that I had connected with a therapist and i was totally committed to making sure that i was better. She had flipped again, I felt that I was a bit on the back foot. She was saying how do you know you’re going to change, the fact that she was nervous, she never wanted to going back to feeling how she did. How she wasn’t sure. After a few hours of talking she agreed to start dating again. We agreed that she shouldent even think about moving back in for months, until we are better, but that together we would go to therapy and I promised to commit every way i can to being more loving towards her and showing her how i care. We set a date for Tuesday.
Monday before the Tuesday - She phones me up at 11pm to cancel the date. She is in tears saying that she just doesn’t know if i will change and she can’t put herself through everything again. She doesn’t think people can actually change their personality and she is happy at the moment with her family and friends and scared of being sad again. I thought its now or never, so i did something i have never done before and told her about the sexual assault I went through. The only person else in the world i have ever told. It felt like a weight off and all of a sudden i felt free, like there was no secrets between us.
She started crying with me and said that everything made more sense now. She was still 50/50 on whether to give me a chance or not as she said that she had it in her head and had made her decision and now she was having to go back on that. Eventually she said, lets meet for a drink tomorrow.
Date night - I was horrendously ill (Which didn’t help). I got to the date, we talked, she said it was important to be honest with each over and explained that in the past couple of weeks she had been on a date with a bloke she bumped into in her home town. She explained that she thought she would either really enjoy it and forget about me, or hate it and realise she wants me back. She said that she got neither feeling. She agreed to go on a second date with him as she had had a good time, but had since cancelled the date, as she agreed to start dating me again. I explained i had also been on a date and we spoke about that. we were both glad to be honest and get it off our chest.
The date, i felt went well, she spoke about her fears of coming back to the house and i said that i would sell the house and we could buy somewhere closer to her hometown, she was happy wiht this. we spoke about friends and work and stayed for three hours. She was testing me and came sat on my lap, i hugged her and we kissed for five minutes. At the end of the date we got in our cars and went home.
An hour later she phoned me and said that she didn’t feel the spark or fireworks she expect to feel when she saw me. She said that she thinks maybe it’s been 7 weeks of her convincing herself that I wasn’t right for her and now maybe has done such a good job that she actually bellieves it. She was in tears and i asked her to say what i think she means, say the words taht she no longer loves me. She wouldn’t do it, she said she couldn’t do it and she was scared. She said she didn’t think it was going to work and she is so sorry that she has messed me around but she just doesn’t know if she is romantically there anymore.
I have been NC for a week since last Tuesday. All my friends tell me to move on but I can’t, this girl Is the love of my life. I can’t eat, I can’t sleep, i have not even been near the bedroom we used to sleep in For 7 weeks. The door is permanently closed. I wish i had told her about my SA six months ago and started working on it then, maybe things would be very different.
The question i have for you all now, is what do i do to give myself the best chance of getting her back. My worry is that she has already been on a few dates and that positive ecxitement is going to far outweigh the negative emotions she has tied towards me. Im worried she is moving on quickly and im loosing her.
Do i reach out one last time, in a calm setting, now i feel well and not ill and just explain that the therapy is going well and that i feel if she wanted to reconsider things in the future, i would be open to it. Explain to her in a calm way that i made mistakes in the relationship but im willing to fight for it, because i think she is worth fighting for.
Or do i continue with NC, in the small hope that she started missing me ( even then, it’s unlikely she will reach out as she already has guilt for messing me around last time, and the feeling that she doesn’t love me anymore looming over her). I know that NC isn’t supposed to be for getting your ex back, it’s supposed to be for helping you.
However, im just asking, what is the best possible way i can increase my chances, even if its by 1%, of getting my ex back. Do i have a heart to heart or do i go NC For months.
Thank so so much in advance for your time.
TL;DR : EX left after 4 years as i wast affectionate enough and she didn’t feel loved. I explained months after the break up that i was Sexually assaulted as a child and was going to seek therapy to get better. Her head was a mess and was confused whether to date me again or not. She changed her mind every day until we went on a date. Then she said she didn’t feel a spark or feel that she loved me anymore. How do i get her back,?

2024.05.29 11:09 According_Coffee9045 Internship Advice: Large foreign firm v Small/Med US firm

Hi Reddit,
I am an LLB student in a foreign (common law) country. As part of my legal training we have lenghthy internships at local firms. I am speciallizing in corporate/M&A. My end goal is to move to the US and hopefully practice law at a large firm (Big Law ideally, but decent pay is more important to me than name). I am a US citizen, so at least that isn't an issue.
What is better? Interning (and possibly working a few years) for the largest firms in my country (mid-sized or small if one compares them to US firms) or interning at a smaller (200 lawyers) US firm which has offices in my country?

2024.05.29 11:08 Angyalmaci Vampires vs Dwarfs, how to?

(IE, N/N) It quite seems to me that with the new toys the dwarfs got, the vampire counts have been powercrept to oblivion.
With all the dwarftides going on in the current patch, what tactics, strategies do you guys employ to diminish their edges?
They seem to rip both my zombie and endgame armies to shreds with their dlc units & abilities, while they're still far away. No flanking will work because of that, ambush is my only chance at not losing half my army in any encounter.
And when I get to melee, it already took 3 units to get close, then their ll-s don't give a damn about tarpits. They move around like they didn't have collision on, and snipe down my character units. They also priorize corpse carts which they tend to shut down in a matter of seconds.
Is it 2-3 armies per dwarf army now + exploiting ambush? It looks like it is for me, I can't really AR with Ghorst's faction, especially against dwarfs. Ambush also does not seem to work, they tend to discover my armies without agents despite my 90-100% ambush chances. (i know about Ambush defence, no Lord has 100% ambush defence. i have tested it with reloading, seems broken)

2024.05.29 11:07 BoysenberryUnfair296 Love is finally in front of me but I don’t know who to choose.

It’s a bit of a long story so hear me out. I guess I’ll start with saying that my journey with love, especially the past 2 years has not been perfect. I got out of a 5 year relationship & amidst all that, I moved to a different country for uni. I broke up with my boyfriend at that time because I just felt that I grew out of the relationship and I just wanted to focus on my growth in this new environment I was in. I tried dating around but it always ended up the same: I get hurt or played with. So it hasn’t been a perfect journey at all. Now, I met 2 guys. The first guy I met, which we’ll call “A”, I met on Bumble. I usually dont expect much from dates when I’ve met them in platforms like that but we had a good date. We smoked and just got along pretty well. To describe him, he is very gentleman-like, he is gentle, genuine, and soft spoken. Which in my case, on paper, os the guy I’m looking for. However, we only really had 4 dates with each other so our “connection” or bond isn’t as strong. It gets awkward at times. And I’m usually a yapper but I just dont know what to say at times and he is a quiet guy. For more context, we went on this break thing, which I didn’t really expect him to come back anymore but he reached out and I thought maybe I could give it another chance. I saw him recently and he said that he wants to give it a try because he thinks I’m worth it. Long story short: he is probably the guy every woman wants—soft spoken, gentle, caring, smart, and genuine.
On the other hand, I met this other guy named B. I met him through a mutual friend on a night out so you can assume that mine & his connection was natural and we just ~zinged~ He is the type of guy I can talk to for hours and hours without running out of things to talk about. I’ve spent more time with him than the other guy, A. The catch is: He’s kind of a red flag. Not in the sense where he is directly causing me pain but in the sense that you know how every girl you meet they’ve had that one ex that was toxic? Yeah, he has those tendencies. But the connection is definitely there. There is chemistry.
Now my biggest dillemna is, Boy A wants to see things out first and see how far we could go. Boy B wants to actually date me now.
On paper, boy A is the man I should choose. But there’s just not enough chemistry… yet (at least) But boy B and I have chemistry and banter and everything you could expect from a good foundation of a relationsip. I really want to try with boy A because he was the first guy I met and I think he’s a sweetheart but I also dont want to risk losing boy B because with him, there’s chemistry. I will have to pick eventually but I’m worried to make the wrong decision. I think chemistry is important and that boy A and I could work on it but if I do decide to focus on him, I’ll have to cut things off with boy B (where things could actually work) and there is no guarantee me and A would actually work. Help me?
TL;DR: I met two men. Boy A I met online—I think he’s sweet & genuine & perfect on paper but no chemistry…. Yet. Boy B I met naturally through mutual friends, we got close, there’s very strong chemistry but he’s kind of a red flag. I dont know what to pick.

2024.05.29 11:07 RealFinnn Ardupilot Radio Calibration Help Needed

Ardupilot Radio Calibration Help Needed
Using a FrSky R-XSR & Speedybee F405 Wing APP flight controller.
I cannot seem to get the green channel bars moving in Radio Calibration.
I have the SBUS out from the receiver going to the SBUS pad on the FC. (Image with pin headers, to the left is SBUS pad at the top, power in the middle, and GND on the bottom pin.
I have bound the receiver to my transmitter and have checked the receiver is in SBUS output mode (solid blue light)
I have run the s.port wire to the RX2 pad on the flight controller which is the pad capable of s.port I believe? (image with blueish green cable and GND connector)
I've also attached an image which shows the whole connector for the R-XSR. (sorry about the esc telemetry cable right in the middle of the image)
I've tried various combinations of SERIAL2_OPTIONS settings from the mission planner full parameter list.
I know the radio is getting some signal because I get telemetry lost / recovered call outs when I power off the receiver.
Maybe I need to use the un-inverted pad on the R-XSR instead? or maybe I'm just getting some settings wrong. Thanks in advance for any help at all.

https://preview.redd.it/hmh427bsyb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9a30f664312dcccf5f17d58de65fd485b492ce22
I recently discovered the Pelican V700 Vault Takedown Rifle and Shotgun Case, and it's truly a game changer for transportation of your beloved firearms. As an avid hunter, I appreciate that this case provides a high level of security, offering crushproof, dustproof, and weather resistant protection. The sturdy handles ensure your rifles or shotguns can withstand even the toughest conditions on your hunting trips.
One feature I particularly love is the presence of six push button latches that offer secure closure with easy-open access. This ensures your weapons are safe and secure while also making it convenient for you to access them when needed. The case also comes with specific foam designed to fit takedown firearms and related accessories, providing your gear with excellent protection during transportation.
However, like any product, there are some cons as well. The case is quite bulky and heavy, making it less ideal for those looking for a lightweight solution. Additionally, cutting and shaping the foam to fit your specific equipment can be time-consuming. Overall, despite its drawbacks, I would highly recommend this gun case to anyone in need of a reliable and resilient transportation solution for their takedown firearms.

🔗Durable, Crushproof Double Rifle Case

https://preview.redd.it/yn9t6ctsyb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd2d07b9c5db085bb9ced2838a4bd79543c4f84f
I recently had the chance to use the Pelican V800 Vault Double Rifle Case in tan, and I must say it's been a game-changer in keeping my firearms safe and secure. The high-impact polymer exterior is not only incredibly durable but also has a sleek, modern look that I absolutely love.
One of the standout features for me is the customizable protective foam lining the interior. Having a secure fit for my rifles is so important, and this case makes it easy to create that level of protection. Plus, the added benefit of being crushproof, dustproof, and weather-resistant gives me peace of mind when traveling with my gear.
However, cutting the foam to fit my rifles exactly was a bit time-consuming and messy. It would have been nice if the case came with "pluck" foam, like some other brands offer, to make customization easier and less stressful.
In terms of ease of use, the handles are ergonomic and sturdy, making it comfortable to carry even when the case is fully loaded with scoped rifles. The wheels are also a great addition for those times when you need to roll your gear instead of lifting it.
Overall, the Pelican V800 Vault Double Rifle Case has been an excellent investment for keeping my firearms protected during transport. Its combination of durability, security features, and customizable foam make it a top choice for anyone in need of a high-quality rifle case.

🔗Stylish, Spacious 60-Gun Fire-Rated Safe

https://preview.redd.it/oh6arl4tyb3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=77714f61d1629578e8dd2d482e4cb65e57cbf8e7
The Sports Afield Insignia Series Fire-Rated 60-Gun Safe - Metallic Grey has been my reliable companion in safeguarding my firearms against any potential catastrophe. The sturdy 12-ga. full-seam Uni-Weld construction and SecuRam UL-Rated electronic lock, which can withstand EMP attacks, provide me with a peace of mind that my valuables are secure.
One of the standout features of this safe is its fireproof and waterproof interior. The Triple Seal protection ensures my firearms remain safe under extreme conditions, such as a 90-minute fire exposure at 1,400 F and standing water of up to 2'. Additionally, the fully carpeted interior, combined with adjustable shelves and a premium door organizer, makes storing and organizing my firearms a breeze.
However, there were a few minor issues. The position of the motion sensor for the interior LED lighting wasn't ideal: it sometimes turned off when not in use. Additionally, the keypad lacked a light, making it tricky to open the safe in low-light conditions. Despite these minor inconveniences, I am more than satisfied with the overall quality and performance of the safe.
In summary, the Sports Afield Insignia Series Fire-Rated 60-Gun Safe - Metallic Grey is an excellent choice for those seeking a reliable, high-capacity gun safe with superior protection and craftsmanship. Its advanced security features and adjustable interiors make it a worthwhile investment for any gun enthusiast.

The Pelican 1780RF Long Case with Rifle Foam Cut Insert (Black) is my new go-to for protecting my most valuable equipment. I was initially skeptical about its sturdiness, but it has truly lived up to its reputation. The structural copolymer gives it an unbreakable quality, and it's definitely been put to the test while moving my gear around.
The highlight for me has to be its watertight seal. I've taken a few trips with it in extreme weather conditions, and not a single drop of moisture has managed to seep through. The neoprene o-ring and manual purge valve make sure of that.
The inclusion of a humidity gauge is also a nice touch. As someone who frequently carries optics and other sensitive equipment, it gives me peace of mind knowing that the case can maintain optimal humidity levels.
However, there is one aspect that could be improved. The pick-and-pluck foam, while engineered well overall, can be a pain to work with. It took me quite some time and effort to cut out the right shapes for my gear. A purpose-built tool from Pelican would make this whole process much smoother.
All things considered, I'm extremely satisfied with this case. Its durability and portability make it ideal for my needs, and the extra features like the humidity gauge are just icing on the cake. If you're looking for a reliable case to protect your valuables, look no further than the Pelican 1780RF Long Case.

I've been using the Savior Equipment Ultimate Guitar Rifle Case to keep my rifle safe and secure during transportation. This case has been a lifesaver, providing discreet protection that doesn't draw unwanted attention. One of the best features is the fully customizable foam inserts that let me configure the case to fit my specific gear perfectly. With three inserts included, I can easily switch between two different layouts depending on the trip.
The high-impact polymer outer shell and enclosed wheels make it easy to transport my rifle without any hassle. The six lock-ready latches add an extra layer of security, giving me peace of mind when traveling with my firearm. The only downside I've noticed is the need to purchase locks separately, but overall, I couldn't be happier with my investment in this case.

🔗Durable Waterproof Hard Case for Rifles and Shotguns

As an avid outdoorsman, I've always been on the lookout for reliable gear that can withstand the toughest conditions. The RPNB Large Weatherproof Tactical Case, with its customizable foam insert and premium black rolling hard case, has truly earned its place in my collection.
I first used this case during a hunting trip where I had to traverse rugged terrains. Its robust construction and IP65 rating proved invaluable, keeping my gear dry and dust-free despite the harsh environment. The adjustable pressure relief valve was a welcome surprise as it allowed me to effortlessly access my items even after changing elevations.
However, one minor drawback is the lack of built-in locks. It wasn't a deal-breaker for me since I usually use my own secure luggage locks, but it might be worth considering if you're particularly concerned about security.
All in all, the RPNB Large Weatherproof Tactical Case has been an excellent addition to my gear, providing both practicality and durability. It's definitely worth considering if you're in need of a robust case for your outdoorsy adventures.

The Tac-Six 55" Lockable 2-Firearm Unit Tactical Gun Case made me feel confident with its durable 600D polyester construction, ensuring my valued gear was well-protected from the elements.
One of the standout features of this tactical gun case is its spacious interior, which comfortably fits two tactical rifles. Coupled with its lockable design, it has given me peace of mind when storage security is a priority. The laser cut MOLLE system truly takes this case to the next level, as it enables me to efficiently attach and customize my essential accessories, making it easy for me to switch up my gear as needed for various situations I may encounter during my travels.
While the Tac-Six has proven to be highly versatile and reliable, one minor downside is the limited number of color options available. However, considering the quality and functionality of this product, it remains a top pick for any serious tactical shooter or outdoorsman.

One of the features that really stood out was the spacious interior. There's enough room to comfortably fit my BT-style gun, and even some additional accessories if needed. And speaking of accessories, the built-in accessory compartment is super convenient!
However, there were a few cons that I noticed as well. The case is quite sturdy, but it can be a bit heavy when carrying it around. Also, the size might be an issue for those who don't have a lot of storage space.
Overall, I've been very happy with my Browning Summit Military Case. It's well-made, looks great, and provides excellent protection for my shotgun. If you're in the market for a high-quality gun case, I would definitely recommend giving this one a try!

I recently purchased the RPNB Weatherproof Tactical Rifle Case with Wheels and Customizable Cubed Foam, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. This rugged hard case was a perfect choice for my shooting excursions, offering not only exceptional protection but also convenience with its rolling feature.
The first thing that stood out to me was the IP67 rating, which ensures that the case is both watertight and dustproof. No matter where I take my rifle, I know that it's safe and secure inside the case. Another feature that I really appreciated was the adjustable pressure relief valve, which makes opening the case a breeze after changing elevations.
Additionally, the pre-drilled holes for two padlocks provide extra security, giving me peace of mind when I'm storing my firearms. The pick-and-pull foam insert is another highlight, as it effectively absorbs impact and protects my gear from any damage that might occur during transport.
The only downside I've encountered is that the case can be a bit cumbersome to carry, but this is easily offset by the rolling feature. Plus, the fact that it meets TSA and airline requirements means I can easily take it with me on trips or to the range.
In conclusion, the RPNB Weatherproof Tactical Rifle Case with Wheels is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a reliable, durable, and secure way to transport their rifles and shotguns.

I recently got my hands on the Nanuk 985 Waterproof Hard Case with Wheels and Foam Insert in Black, and let me tell you, it has become a game-changer in my daily life. As someone who loves the outdoors, I'm always on the lookout for reliable gear that can keep up with my adventurous spirit. This case not only met but exceeded my expectations.
The first thing that stands out about this case is its unbeatable waterproof capability. With an IP67 rating, it ensures my valuable items are safe from moisture, dust, and even shock. The automatic purge valve is a brilliant addition too; it equalizes the pressure inside the case during travel, making it much more comfortable to handle.
Mobility was another area where this case truly shines. The spring-loaded pull handle combined with smooth-rolling polyurethane wheels makes transportation quite effortless. This feature alone has made going out for photo shoots or camping trips so much easier.
However, no product is perfect, and the Nanuk 985 does have some cons. For one, it's relatively heavy, which can make it a bit cumbersome to carry around for longer durations. Additionally, the lock mechanism, although secure, could be a bit smoother and easier to operate, especially when wearing gloves in colder conditions.
Despite these minor drawbacks, I would highly recommend the Nanuk 985 Waterproof Hard Case with Wheels and Foam Insert to anyone looking for a durable, reliable, and high-quality case.
