I don’t know if you’re supposed to share the losses in this thread or not because all I see are a bunch of people who are crushing it. I find it motivating but I can’t help thinking that my time to shine will never come.
I have started this weight loss journey almost since I can remember. I was always big. Even in my baby pics I looked heavy. I looked alright when I was in high school and then in college but ever since I started working full time I just blew up like a balloon. I gained almost 72 pounds in 4 years.
I am now around 130 kgs/286 lbs ( I am 5’11). I need to lose 127 pounds to be ideal weight. That is almost an entire person!!!
I started this journey so many times but I keep failing. I can point fingers towards a lot of impediments and problems but deep inside I know it’s because I don’t really have a lot of self control/will power. I can’t follow through. I have paid for gym memberships I haven’t used for even a single day. I have subscribed to healthy food providing services and ate a whole lot of junk food along with it every single day. It feels like I am my own worst enemy.
A whole lot of shit comes with being fat/unhealthy. You do worse at your job because you don’t have energy to compete, you lose your friends because you don’t have the energy to go out and spend time, you lose the people you date because you are so insecure and even if you aren’t they can’t bear to watch you drown yourself like this. Food can be as dangerous as other addictions.
I have hypertension and sleep apnea and I am afraid if I do the right tests I will find out I have diabetes or even heart problems. I’m scared to face the truth.
I am on the verge of losing everything that makes life beautiful and I am desperate for help. Is there anything at all I can try that I haven’t tried before. I really really want to follow through right now. No matter what it takes or costs.
I don’t want to let down myself or the people around me anymore. I want to go back to being a happy person someday again.

2024.05.21 14:50 Working_Radish_2726 Smashing it with this homemade tactic. Is it common or not?

Just transferred to reading in league one and i was playing with a short passing 4 2 3 1. However, i was struggling to score goals consistently and getting beat 1 0 a lot, so i tried a completely new tactic. The players, although unfamiliar, have adapted really well.
The enganche and my LW, Azeez, are hard working enough to drop back into midfield in transition, and once we get the ball we are great at carrying it forward quickly. A long ball or cross, flick-on and decent finish, and we score. This tactic is taking us from a relegation battle to the playoffs as it stands. Is it a common meta tactic or not? Ive created it and im suprised at how effective it is.
Also, im struggling in the transfer market as, although i have a big budget, any players who would significantly improve the team dont want to join. Any advice on how to improve my squad and approach the market would be fantastic and really helpful!

So basically, I am trying to get the vtsg for a high round run, but everytime I try to obtain it, it doesn't turn into a vtsg.
I have the monkey knowledge, I am first sacrificing 3 tier 5 monkeys from 3 different categories, then place down the LOTN and anti bloon, 4 tier 5 monkeys from 4 different categories, upgrade to the true sun god, but it doesn't become the vtsg. this has happened several times now. it's getting frustrating tbh...

For those who read my stream of consciousness commentary of Part 1 in the relevant episode threads, you will know I held grave concerns for the Pirate Coat (and its potential OnlyFans account) after the balloon scene.
Colin is seen throwing it to Lord Stanton as he runs to ~~set a thirst trap~~ save Pen, but moments later Stanton is called into action and the Pirate Coat is nowhere to be seen.
Well, on my 798th rewatch, I can advise that I believe Colin wears the coat to the brothel in Ep 4. You’ll forgive me for overlooking this earlier as I likely had my face buried in a pillow screaming “what the f*ck Colin”.
May we all be blessed with more of Pirate Colin in Part 2.

OKC essentially played Dallas to a draw but lost close ones, so their strong round 1 keeps them on top.
Tied at the top is Boston, whose offence was good as ever against a depleted Cleveland - missing Allen [+3.0] and eventually Mitchell [+5.8] - but who defended poorly by their standards.
Minnesota's defence stepped up a notch and would surely lead a standalone round 2 ranking, but that offensive drop-off might be a concern going forward.
Dallas are unbelievably consistent.
So is Indiana's defence (or lack thereof).

I've been eager to reach this point; when I can say that I have met my original goals when I started working with this firmware approx 2 weeks ago. Customizable controls, savegames, no memory limitations save for the cost in performance. A slew of other features I couldn't help but implement along the way too. v0.5 is now live on m5burner.

I've spent the time avoiding the user interface work I finally did yesterday, instead optimizing the rendering and memory subsystem to get more than twice the performance of my last announced release(v0.48). Super Mario Land 2 and Donkey Kong Land show more than a 100% improvement in frame rates (17fps -> 53fps in the overworld for super mario land 2)
The next steps planned:
Audio
Save States
Some more options; custom palette, performance related things
debug w/ Pokemon, figure out why it restarts the firmware
about information screen crediting Matteo Forlani for concept implementation; any one else who ends up contributing.
And in the would be nice category:
Wifi link-cable; I doubt it would get much use but the hooks for it all appear to be present in peanut_gb.
Custom borders (I wont sacrifice ram for this, but I could stream it from the sdcard, it is not redrawn during normal gameplay)
Any other ideas? If there are any pixel artist out there, there is room in the ROM for a cardputer themed border and I'm more than willing to entertain submissions in that area as well, with full credit of course going to the author(s).

* Reimplemented memory subsystem to use progressive partial page seeking/pruning; the original memory management code was the first I had typed in 14 years; after some thought I devised something much more suitable for a real time environment. This resulted in the average page seek time being much lower, and distributes maintenance of the paging system across successive calls. The results are the largest improvement to speed to date. Over double the frame rates from before; less stutter, smoother page transitions in memory. Donkey Kong Land averages around 45fps now; Super Mario land 2 gets an average 53fps on the overworld.

* Reduced rendering workload 6.25% by modifying peanut_gb to inherently skip lines that aren't visible due to scaling.
This prevents the engine from having to process the layer and sprite data for these lines all together. Why 6.25%? because 9 lines are skipped which is 6.25% of the lines that were rendered previously.

* Refactored graphics code; ~120,000 less operations a frame
* Scrolling behaviour and screen content differences no longer effect rendering performance Titles such as final fantasy or even super mario land 2 show a huge improvement in overworld movement speed.

Activate by holding Fn and pressing '[' and cycle borders by holding Fn and pressing ']'. Because these are the same keys used for other visual modifications, I hope using the combination of Fn and these keys is intuitive.

12.06.2025 V0.47 Added first iteration of Super Gameboy Mode with all 32 official palettes that were included with the original hardware. Nintendo included a table on the device to map certain games to certain palettes, and that functionality is partially implemented. Mario 1/2/Wario Land, F1 Racer and Tetris all autodetect and assign their colour scheme. This mode can be toggled on and off at any time during play with the '[' button, and the current cycle palette button will cycle through the 32 included palettes. Games with defined profiles with start with that palette selected automatically when Super Gameboy Mode is engaged for the first time each session.
*Lots of user interface changes; message boxes will appear to describe your palette selections, among other things - no console style debug remains in normal operation.
*Another 4k of memory allocated to ROM storage, may smooth out some edge cases of stuttering.

10.05.2024:: 0.41 added savegame support. if a game uses it's onboard ram constantly though, use the manual backup button (=). The save feature will only automatically engage after the cartridge ram has been left untouched for a second.
08.05.2024: v0.4 forked from gb_cardputer, added memory management subsystem (paging) to manage random access to roms of any size the filesystem supports.
Yellow bars on either side of the display momentarily indicate that the cartridge ram has been backed up. The savegame format will not be changing, its a simple binary dump.

Hi everyone!
Earlier this month i had a chance to visit Deramakot Forest Reserve, part of Borneo in Sabah, Malaysia. I had an amazing experience and wanted to share my experience for those wildlife enthusiasts around here. I spent also two days in Kinatabangan River, a spot many of you have probably visited that is good to spot pigmy elephants, proboscis monkeys and orangutans too.
Most people who visit Borneo visit one of the National parks in Indonesia or a quick visit to Danum Valley and Kinabatangan River. The main reason for me to pick Deramakot FR was the focus in wildlife sighting, it is the best place in the world to see clouded leopards and other wild cats and many species that only exist in that part of the world can be seen regularly. When researching, i found out that Danum Valley is great for starters, you can learn about trees and insects, do some walks and in the car, probably see a couple of civets and orangutans, but the way it is organized to be explored does not enhance your probability to see different species, it just gives you a taste of the greatness of Borneo that won’t satisfy those who want to maximize wildlife viewing. Deramakot is the place to be for variety.
We spent 4D/3N with Adventure Alternative Borneo, when we arrived we met our guide Mike, he said himself he wasn’t great with briefings or explanations so he just wanted to know our questions and target animals. I said we wanted to see orangutans and then mainly nocturnal animals, i mentioned wild cats, civets, binturong, slow loris, tarsier, etc… he said tarsier is difficult but all the other was easy, maybe not a clouded leopard but we saw 4 leopard cats, for example.
The wildlife viewing takes place on top of the back of a pick up truck where the guide with a driver runs back and forth in the 32 km main road 2 of the Forest Reserve. You have 7 hours a day that you distribute like you want depending on target species. It takes 3 hours each way to the end of the road depending how many hours you assign, we started at 15:00 and finished at 23:00 with one hour for dinner and rest at the spot at the edge of the park at the end of the 32 km.
The first day you only do 3 hours at night, in those 3 hours, we quickly came accross an otter in a body of water near the road, two types of owls, civets, - pigmy elephant, multiple leopard cats… a sunda skunk would come slowly walking by our car and we would get down and walk next to it to take the best photos and experience being close to it. A Thomas’ flying squirrel would glide between trees just on top of us, a sambar deer would run and hide past us in the shadows.
We counted 30 different species, most of them mammals over the 3 days of wildlife viewing, we didn’t see a sun bear or clouded leopard (two of my dreams), but we saw a banteng. You might know that there are bantengs in several parts of indonesia, but the malaysian subspecies has less than 324 members left to be extinct, and we crossed paths with one young one that stayed for a couple of minutes in front of the car, the guide said he has seen only 2 before and very briefly running away in all the years he had been guiding in the park, he mentioned that a banteng is much more rare than seeing a pangolin and a clouded leopards and that specimen probably had never seen a car before in its life.
Despite our impressive first night, in the other two days we had long parts of times where we wouldnt have sightings, in hindsight, we shouldnt have done 15:00-18:00 at all and just start at night since we had seen orangutan already in Kinabatangan, but once the night came down, you could be 1 hour without sightings and suddenly see slow loris, a leopard cat, a rat snake, a banded civet shyly walking past our car and a binturong within 30 minutes. The park had that magic that can make you go to bed with a smile after having two hours of nothing with the best 10 minutes of sightings at the end. You could see the guide get as excited or more than you with every sighting and say: hell yeah, when he got one of those species you mentioned you wanted to see. We spent 30 mins watching a binturong eating fruits from a fig tree or 10 mins watching a striped palm civet smile to the camera with its mouth full of fruits, or a slow loris walking down a tree to escape the light literally in slow motion.
I have been before in the Amazon rainforest in Peru, Galapagos Islands, several parts of Australia, Polynesia, two safaris in Kenya and South Africa and this experience let me wanting to come back as soon as possible and with the feeling of seeing animals i could only see in books and documentaries. I feel like i found a “secret” to keep coming back, but at the same time there is a reality many of you know from Malaysian Borneo. 60% of the territory is covered by palm oil plantations, from the moment you land in the airport to the almost 4 hours until the entrance of the park, all you see is km and km of palm trees and palm trees, you ask the locals and they say it brings a lot of money and the government wants to continue expanding, and even with that, Sabah is the poorest region of Malaysia.
Regarding the price, it is not cheap, specially considering that you can have lunch in a restaurant in telupid town for 11 myr and we paid a bit over 4000 myr for this per person including transport from and to airport, but the truth is, the reason for the reserve to have this price is that the reserve needs to prove the government that they can generate enough money from wildlife tourism to make it equally or more profitable than just turning the whole reserve into a big palm oil plantation, and seeing how amazing the wildlife is, it is extremely sad to see all those kilometer and kilometer of palm oil plantations and think how amazing all that was 100 years ago.
The accomodation is basic but safe and clean, with hot water , i would say much better than most of the homestays i stayed in Indonesia in the same trip, our guide Mike was the best wildlife spotter i ever saw in my travels, although the experience would be different with another guide, of course.
I would recommend visiting this reserve to anybody who really loves wildlife variety and would be happy to spend 7 hours a day driving around in exchange of seeing some animals that only exist in this part of the world. There was another couple happily doing early morning drives to see the gibbons and orangutan waking up and the birds followed with night drives that were having an amazing time too. If you just want a taste of the jungle you can probably stay some days in the more luxurious rainforest lodge in Danum Valley and just get a taste and fewer sightings . For me, Deramakot was even better than what i expected as a wildlife enthusiast and would love it to continue being that way and not turned into palm oil plantations down the line, hence why i wanted to share my experience.

2024.05.21 12:27 Quiet-Grade1903 Anyone else think that the editing of Sara in s3 was weird?

Hello!
I’m probably reading in to this, but on my re-watch of s3 I found some of the editing of Sara Pascoe to be odd. The first thing that tipped me off is the balloon task where they use an excessive number of slow-mo shots of Sara popping the balloons with her teeth (I think about 4) and none for anyone else. Rob Beckett made a joke about it in the studio . The other thing is the studio task where Sara isn’t wearing shoes and, for no conceivable reason, it pans down to her feet for a few seconds.
Again, I do think I’m looking too much into this but it’s just something I noticed and wondered if anyone else felt the same.
