Hi,
I just purchased an Anker Prime 20K battery bank and it's pretty cool. But few questions.
1.) When charging, it says 100% but I still feel the battery bank at warm temp, and my USB-C wall adapter still is hot. Seems like it's still charging even after the meter says 100%. What's the deal?
2.) Is there some hard cut-off at 28% or something? I was power my laptop with the battery bank, and last I checked it was at 40% or so and then a few minutes later the battery bank read zero. Based on the timeline I was tracking, it should not have just gone completely flat.
3.) Should I only charge to 80% or 90% to maximize battery life cycles? Or should I just shoot for 100% charge each time?

Just starting my solar journey. Spent all last week going down the rabbit hole to try and educate myself.
Because I live in Vegas and it's freaking hot decided on a 24v system so I can run a portable AC unit.
Already ordered two 12v 100ah LiTime batteries that I will put in series. Originally was looking at the MPP 2724 because I've seen it in a few of Will's videos. But I've heard concerns it is really, really loud. It will be in my living space so that's a definite concern.
Are there any other alternatives I could consider to the MPP that won't break the bank? btw, I found the MPP at an MPP reseller for $391 out the door so I think that's a pretty good price.
The reason I was trying to put together a system with and all-in-one invertecontroller is because I have zero solar and zero electrical experience so was just trying to make it a simple as possible. But didn't want to buy a "power station" like EcoFlow or Anker because I think this would be an invaluable skill to learn. But to go with all separate components scares me a little.
What do you guys think? Am I on the right path?

Already ordered two 12v 100ah LiTime batteries that I will put in series. Originally was looking at the MPP 2724 because I've seen it in a few of Will's videos. But I've heard concerns it is really, really loud. It will be in my living space so that's a definite concern.
Are there any other alternatives I could consider to the MPP that won't break the bank? btw, I found the MPP at an MPP reseller for $391 out the door so I think that's a pretty good price.
The reason I was trying to put together a system with and all-in-one invertecontroller is because I have zero solar and zero electrical experience so was just trying to make it a simple as possible. But didn't want to buy a "power station" like EcoFlow or Anker because I think this would be an invaluable skill to learn. But to go with all separate components scares me a little.
What do you guys think? Am I on the right path?

Hey guys just wondering if I could get some feedback, I think I'm going to swing by BB and pick up an Ally and wonder if ya'll think it's a good fit for me vs a steamdeck or something else.
-I'm more of a casual gamer.
-I'm mostly into indie games, specifically roguelites and similar games. If you know NorthernLion on youtube, I basically play whatever he's playing. Currently obsessed with balatro, previously slay the spire and isaac.
-I also play Everquest (the old one) on a retro server, which requires windows and some add-ons that are only for windows.
-Finally my kids are really into minecraft (bedrock). I don't care for minecraft myself, but I need to be able to play with them and to administer the realm/content packs etc (yeah I know I should have got them on Java, but they have tablets). So I need to play minecraft bedrock.
-I currently have switch and a very old windows PC. I also have a mac which I do work on and recently got a new monitor for (I switch my monitor to the windows PC when I want to game), but my old PC is too crappy to drive this UHD monitor. So that made me want to upgrade the PC. Since I only use it for gaming, and don't play many games with high system requirements, I thought maybe get steamdeck instead. But that won't work well for EQ and minecraft bedrock, then I found out about the ROG ally. Seems perfect.
-I do like prefer to play on mobile for my roguelites/indies and minecraft and play these on the switch currently -- switch frustrates the heck out of me because the ports are often not great, not patched in sync with main platforms, and minecraft specifically just sucks on switch. The main thing I worry about with ROG Ally is whether the controller support will be good on these games -- I've never used a controller on PC before? Greeting lads! I hope you're doing well. I'm just an aspiring audio engineer, and I've spent quite a bit of time working on an in-app EQ for the Anker Soundcore Q30s. It was pretty hard dealing with the absurd Anker signature bullshit, but I've arrived at a settings that I could actually listen to happily. Hence, as the Q30s seems to still be a pretty popular choice for people who actually care a little bit about sound quality I'd like to share my EQ here. Feel free to try it out and tell me what you think!
It is worth nothing though that my tuning is meant for the newer Q30s with 2.3 firmware. Personally, I do not know whether Anker has changed the newer Q30's sound signature compared to the old ones (I do know that internal components were changed though). However, I found that my Q30s with 2.3 firmware sound really bad with the older popular Q30s settings like that of Oluvs Gadget and Mr.Cow, which is why I had to make my own.
Regarding the tuning itself, I tried to keep it as balanced and natural as possible while still being slightly colored, so that just the average listener can enjoy. As such, the tuning sounds slightly boosted (something I couldn't really fix if I tried anyway), and slightly emphasizes lower-mids & bass. The upper-mids and treble region slightly emphasizes lower treble (as I thought the warmer sound is more appealing to new listeners) while having just enough clarity and definition for more demanding tracks.

However, I found that my Q30s with 2.3 firmware sound really bad with the older popular Q30s settings like that of Oluvs Gadget and Mr.Cow, which is why I had to make my own.
Regarding the tuning itself, I tried to keep it as balanced and natural as possible while still being slightly colored, so that just the average listener can enjoy. As such, the tuning sounds slightly boosted (something I couldn't really fix if I tried anyway), and slightly emphasizes lower-mids & bass. The upper-mids and treble region slightly emphasizes lower treble (as I thought the warmer sound is more appealing to new listeners) while having just enough clarity and definition for more demanding tracks.

Greeting lads! I hope you're doing well. I'm just an aspiring audio engineer, and I've spent quite a bit of time working on an in-app EQ for the Anker Soundcore Q30s. It was pretty hard dealing with the absurd Anker signature bullshit, but I've arrived at a settings that I could actually listen to happily. Hence, as the Q30s seems to still be a pretty popular choice for people who actually care a little bit about sound quality I'd like to share my EQ here. Feel free to try it out and tell me what you think!

Interested if folks have any recommendations. I'm coming off of the Terror (will finish tomorrow I think) and absolutely loved it. One of those books that you can't put down and it makes you deprioritize other things haha. My favorite fiction/narrative non-fiction books I've read are: First Fifteen Lives of Harry August The Terror Doomsday Book (Connie Willis) 11/22/63 Project Hail Mary North Woods The Lost Explorer (by Conrad Anker) Mawson's Will Into Thin Air Civilizations Dr Strange and Mr Norrell Those first four are probably my favorites ever (not incorporating HP into this). I really love survival / polar expedition stuff (clearly) and things to do with time travel or alternate history, especially where the book really 'majors' on history (as opposed to obsessing about the sci fi elements). Open to any recommendations you have based on that or any of the ones on the list. Thanks!

Of course Buddhists usually believe in the sanctity of life, and some won't even kill a fly or tiny spider.
But the Buddha was very clear, that does not apply to human beings. As long as human's are given a nice meal, they can be executed by the government.
The Buddha and Gandhi, and Martin Luther King Jr all were huge supporters of the US death penalty, and their ideal was Texas, where they do it right.
Of course, China has the best policies and statistics on the death penalty [Amnesty Int'l] and China also has the best and most honorary professorships as well. [List of Ikeda's honorary degrees, many from China]
For SGI members to be such outrageous slanderers, to have an anti-death penalty speaker at their meetings, is cause for serious retaliation.
If they invite that dangerous extremist Helen Prejean (the nun who inspired the movie "Dead Man Walking), they deserve what they get. (Its been said that the nun Helen Prejean actually is an anti-SGI NST priest!)
For example,

If anyone voiced a contrary viewpoint to the Buddha or his organizations and financial investments, they were executed, convicted, and sometimes even had a trial, everyone knows that.

Hi, Anna - I think the remedy is not to condemn the Gakkai or its leadership for these matters, but rather to do what the Ankers in Granada Hills are doing - that is, forge ahead and have the meetings, just don't have official SGI permission to do it.
[SGI has cracked down since; all meetings are carefully monitored through an informant system. An "SGI senior leader" is always dispatched, ostensibly as the "central figure" who "gives final guidance", but is actually a cult enforcer to make sure the group toes the SGI party line and the discussion does not stray out of bounds.]
If Julius wants to invite Sr. Helen Prejean (the nun who wrote "Dead Man Walking") to speak, he just finds enough members who would be interested in hearing her, sets up the talk, and then holds the talk. If he wants to set it up so that people do gongyo as part of the meeting, then that's up to him. I think these sorts of things are being "worked out", and that soon enough, the SGI will develop some sort of policy in regard to guest speakers.

What happened in Granada HIlls was that Bill Anker invited Ryuei Michael McCormick (a friend of his,and also of mine, who happens to be a published author and a minster in the Nichiren Shu) to speak at his home. As a result, the Ankers were forbidden to have SGI meetings at their home, and were removed from their position as district leaders.
[Exactly. They were PUNISHED for displaying initiative and independent thought/action. That's the SGI way.]
Personally, I think this was an assinine move on the part of the organiztaion, but it has ended up working out quite well - the meetings at the Ankers' home are flourishing, and they're a good opportunity for people to chant together and support each other in faith without all the rigamarole that goes along with the SGI (e.g., statistics, "guidance", etc.)
[As described above, SGI lost its FUCKING MIND at this manifestation of the "interfaith" it pretends to endorse - ALL non-SGI-scheduled meetings are now forbidden - they can't have people enjoying each other and learning new things, can they?? SGI *OWNS** the SGI members and they WILL obey.*]
Another very very positive feature of these meetings is that it's OK to learn about other forms of meditation (we've done seated silent meditation and walking meditation, as well as loving-kindness cultivation practice), other Nichiren groups such as the Nipponzan Myohoji (see dharmawalk.org), and we make wonderful new friends.
For me, the district and chapter organizations often feel like "assigned friendships",

but the alternative meetings have allowed me to really make new friends with Nichiren Buddhists I would not have met "through the line". I think they're fabulous. Julius can do the same thing. At the end of the day, he can set up the talks he is discussing, it just doesn't involve the Gakkai as an organization at all.

Yes I still am processing my experiences...
It is a tough job, even after 5 years.
My deception was great because I really believed in SGI and cared a lot about SGI. I still feel very concerned and responsable for its members,specially those I brought in,and those I followed,for many years.
My mother was a huge anti-death penalty activist, and, as you know, it's something that is still practiced here in California (not as much as they practice it in Texas, but we do execute a few people each year.)
I lift my hat to your mom.
I hope California(I`ve been there several times and I loved it!) will soon find the courage to stop executing people legally. If California does it, many others will also follow the example.
Our SGI-USA womens' division leader, Linda Johnson, has been an appellate death penalty prosecutor for years here in California.
I remember about ten years ago, when I was interested in practicing law, I gave her a call and asked if it was possible to work in her office without prosecuting what she called "capital cases".
The answer was no - if you wanted to work in her office, you had to be willing to prosecute the death penalty.
Maybe things have changed now that we have a different governator, but that was my experience then. I've heard her mention this matter in her talks a number of times, so people must raise the issue with her. She has repeatedly said that she doesn't "believe in " the DP, but does the work anyway, and trains other attorneys to do the work.

Of course Buddhists usually believe in the sanctity of life, and some won't even kill a fly or tiny spider.
But the Buddha was very clear, that does not apply to human beings. As long as human's are given a nice meal, they can be executed by the government.
The Buddha and Gandhi, and Martin Luther King Jr all were huge supporters of the US death penalty, and their ideal was Texas, where they do it right.
Of course, China has the best policies and statistics on the death penalty [Amnesty Int'l] and China also has the best and most honorary professorships as well. [List of Ikeda's honorary degrees, many from China]
For SGI members to be such outrageous slanderers, to have an anti-death penalty speaker at their meetings, is cause for serious retaliation.
If they invite that dangerous extremist Helen Prejean (the nun who inspired the movie "Dead Man Walking), they deserve what they get. (Its been said that the nun Helen Prejean actually is an anti-SGI NST priest!)
For example,

If anyone voiced a contrary viewpoint to the Buddha or his organizations and financial investments, they were executed, convicted, and sometimes even had a trial, everyone knows that.

Hi, Anna - I think the remedy is not to condemn the Gakkai or its leadership for these matters, but rather to do what the Ankers in Granada Hills are doing - that is, forge ahead and have the meetings, just don't have official SGI permission to do it.
[SGI has cracked down since; all meetings are carefully monitored through an informant system. An "SGI senior leader" is always dispatched, ostensibly as the "central figure" who "gives final guidance", but is actually a cult enforcer to make sure the group toes the SGI party line and the discussion does not stray out of bounds.]
If Julius wants to invite Sr. Helen Prejean (the nun who wrote "Dead Man Walking") to speak, he just finds enough members who would be interested in hearing her, sets up the talk, and then holds the talk. If he wants to set it up so that people do gongyo as part of the meeting, then that's up to him. I think these sorts of things are being "worked out", and that soon enough, the SGI will develop some sort of policy in regard to guest speakers.

What happened in Granada HIlls was that Bill Anker invited Ryuei Michael McCormick (a friend of his,and also of mine, who happens to be a published author and a minster in the Nichiren Shu) to speak at his home. As a result, the Ankers were forbidden to have SGI meetings at their home, and were removed from their position as district leaders.
[Exactly. They were PUNISHED for displaying initiative and independent thought/action. That's the SGI way.]
Personally, I think this was an assinine move on the part of the organiztaion, but it has ended up working out quite well - the meetings at the Ankers' home are flourishing, and they're a good opportunity for people to chant together and support each other in faith without all the rigamarole that goes along with the SGI (e.g., statistics, "guidance", etc.)
[As described above, SGI lost its FUCKING MIND at this manifestation of the "interfaith" it pretends to endorse - ALL non-SGI-scheduled meetings are now forbidden - they can't have people enjoying each other and learning new things, can they?? SGI *OWNS** the SGI members and they WILL obey.*]
Another very very positive feature of these meetings is that it's OK to learn about other forms of meditation (we've done seated silent meditation and walking meditation, as well as loving-kindness cultivation practice), other Nichiren groups such as the Nipponzan Myohoji (see dharmawalk.org), and we make wonderful new friends.
For me, the district and chapter organizations often feel like "assigned friendships",
[That is why there is so very little GENUINE friendship within SGI - we make better friends when we are FREE to make them ourselves, rather than having them ASSIGNED to us with threats of punishment if we interact with others.]
but the alternative meetings have allowed me to really make new friends with Nichiren Buddhists I would not have met "through the line". I think they're fabulous. Julius can do the same thing. At the end of the day, he can set up the talks he is discussing, it just doesn't involve the Gakkai as an organization at all.

Yes I still am processing my experiences...
It is a tough job, even after 5 years.
My deception was great because I really believed in SGI and cared a lot about SGI. I still feel very concerned and responsable for its members,specially those I brought in,and those I followed,for many years.
I hope California(I`ve been there several times and I loved it!) will soon find the courage to stop executing people legally. If California does it, many others will also follow the example.
I remember about ten years ago, when I was interested in practicing law, I gave her a call and asked if it was possible to work in her office without prosecuting what she called "capital cases".
The answer was no - if you wanted to work in her office, you had to be willing to prosecute the death penalty.
Maybe things have changed now that we have a different governator, but that was my experience then. I've heard her mention this matter in her talks a number of times, so people must raise the issue with her. She has repeatedly said that she doesn't "believe in " the DP, but does the work anyway, and trains other attorneys to do the work.

I used to record on OBS with Liv Mixed Reality with Quest 2 native Beat Saber, but since Beat Saber removed the support I haven't recorded since.
I have the PC version but when I'd play and record at the same time I'd drop frames/lag and miss a lot of notes. Normal gameplay isn't an issue, gameplay only recording is manageable, but recording with the addition of Liv MR is terrible.

Anyone who follows this closely knows Daniel Sheehan has made some very outlandish claims without proof. However, I think we need to carefully consider what Mr Sheehanβs role is in this: an organizer, not a whistleblower or someone with first-hand knowledge. As an organizer, not a whistleblower, the credibility of his claims only goes as far as the credibility of himself, personally.
In a post made yesterday, the poster intended to fact-check Sheehan on the expertise and career Sheehan has talked about. The purpose of this post is to take a closer look at the underlying claims, and why I think Sheehan is more credible than meets the eye. In fact, his experience is quite interesting and unique.
The poster made 2 points, which I will address individually as well:
Avirgan v Hull & the Iran Contra Scandal
If youβre not familiar with Iran Contra, you should look it up. Hereβs a quick summary:
To make an extremely long story short, the Avirgan case was a civil suit seeking damages for a bombing that injured the plaintiffs. The case was dismissed on summary judgment after The Christic Institute failed to convince the court with evidence that the defendants were responsible for the bombing (it would later be proved true that Per Anker Hansen, an alias for the named defendant, Amac Galil, was responsible for the bombing).
Many will point to the fact that The Christic Institute was penalized for bringing a frivolous lawsuit.
EDIT: Adding a reference to this great post by u/outrageous-Moose-269 with a confirmation from Floyd Abrams himself that Sheehan worked on the case while at Cahill. The other names stated in Supreme Court opinion are the amici curiae briefs which were part of the Pentagon Papers case decision. None of the Cahill attorneys are mentioned in the citation, though Floyd Abrams is a prominent attorney from that case (a member of the same firm that Sheehan was a part of, Cahill). Does anyone have any further details on how to use this?
edit: I found some other posts that seem to indicate that aptX-LL is required to be supported by the headset being used, which I don't believe mine supports (a somewhat cheap Anker ANC over-ear headset)
the low-quality HFP for BT audio has always been an annoyance, fine for phone calls on my smartphone but not what I want when sitting at my computer, on voice chat with friends, playing games.

I have all opus and aptx packages available in the repos installed. Does anyone know anymore about this feature and what one might have to do to take advantage of it?

FastStream, AptX LL, and "Opus 05 Pro" (a pipewire invention) have a "duplex" channel that allows for sending microphone audio back without needing to go into HSP/HFP and tolerate the sound quality degradation. PipeWire, but not PulseAudio, has support for this feature. Support is automatic upon feature detection. Interaction with existing profile switcher (WirePlumber) is unknown.however I can find no indication on how to verify this is working. This MR is referenced on the wiki page but doesn't provide much information. Clearly, from the quality in my headset, it is not working automatically, but I don't even see an option for an Opus codec in Pavucontrol for my headset. I'm not even sure what I'd need to check to see if my hardware is capable of this.

TL;DR need a USB power tester with V/A/W readouts and can save total Wh charged when disconnected/lost power. Using to diagnose charging of various devices up to 20V/5A. Protocol detection is a bonus.
Recently purchased an Anker 533 PowerCore 30W to serve as a new USB-PD powerbank, only to find out mine has the slow charging behaviour where the powerbank will only charge at around 7W, measured with one of those USB-C cables with a built in wattage meter. In addition there are some other weird behaviours:
If the powerbank is left to charge, approximately 1 hour later it'll decide to charge at its full 18W speed (although my cable says 17W).
Using the same cable, I wanted to test the 30W charging capabilities of the powerbank by "slow charging" my Windows laptop (normally uses a 65W charger). If the cable is plugged in with the wattage screen on the laptop side, the cable shows a 24W draw, but with the screen on the powerbank side the power draw is 27 watts?
That brings me to now where I want to scratch this itch and get more details on these behaviours, requiring a USB power meter. One must have feature is some sort of memory so mWh readings aren't lost on power off. I don't necessarily need one with protocol detection or triggering, but that is a nice bonus. I've found these so far:
Cheapest, "cross" shape and no protocol detection
This one I saw someone use to test an iMuto powerbank on a post a few hours ago, but no PD protocol support and only goes up to 3A, so seems suspect to use with >3A (like my laptop)
I'm also aware of other options like the TC66C and UM25C, but the UM25C doesn't seem to support PD either and the TC66C and the PowerZ ones, while full featured are out of my budget for now. If anyone else has tried a power meter, particularly with 20V/5A support please feel free to suggest below.
