2024.05.21 03:58 Fresh_Comfort2093 Paint looks good until it gets wet

It turned out great actually except when it gets wet I can tell a difference. The water on the factory part will fall off or bead up. The water on my part will sit on top of it in sheets and when it dries it looks terrible. I attached two photos of the original part (the one with black specs and chips in it because paint is old and chipping.)
In the pics you can see a spot which I just wiped with water and is still slightly wet. That part looks good. When it dries you get all those weird specs.
What I did. Scuffing pad warm soapy water Isopropyl alcohol Tack clothed clean Adhesion promoter bulldog 2 thin coats Sandable primer 3 coats 3 coats of metallic silver paint 3 coats of clear 2k gloss
Is this not enough clear coat? It looks like the clear coat on top has little tiny pits. I tried even wet sanding with 1200 grit and 2000 grit. Did not help and did not want to sand too much. I

SCALEOF1210 (K): What kinda of toys do human pups like?
DAVID: I dunno, what kinda toys do Krev pups like?
SCALEOF1210 (K): Oh.
DAVID: It’s alright. Just try to think through that lens and you’ll do fine.
_
GUEST (S): Why is being without your “clothes” so embarrassing? Is it religious?
DAVID: Not exactly. It started out as a way to stay warm when we migrated out jungles and savanna’s, but the side effect was that it made the absence of coverings a) feel insecure, and b) an open floodgate of carnal attraction. So actually, to answer your question, we’re covering our reproductive organs. It’s a modesty thing. The practice got applied to the kids anyway.
GUEST (S): Female humans have sex organs on their chests?
DAVID: No. but female mammaries become more pronounced as they mature and tend to draw male sexual attention.
GUEST (S): Whyyyyyyyy?
DAVID: Simply put: they remind us of mom.
GUEST (S): Ahhhhhhh!
DAVID: I was really trying to avoid spelling that out, y’know?
GUEST (S): Hey man, I don’t have have feet. Why would I care about tiptoeing?
DAVID: Huh. You know, I really think I’m learning a lot about Smiglis.
GUEST (S): Hey! Good for you! 🎉
_
GUEST (R): What’s wrong with regurgitation feeding? It helps with digestion.
DAVID: Maybe for avians, but It’s not sanitary for humans. We have a different digestion/immune setup. And no offense, It’s also just really, really gross to us.
_
GUEST (K): How do you hold a human pup?
DAVID: For Krev, cradle them in the your arm and be sure to support their head. That’s important because it’s too heavy for them to hold up by themselves. Again, no tail rides until they’re at least two years old.
_
SNOWFLOWER333 (J): Do humans kits really need to nurse well into adolescence? I don’t think I can keep it up for that long….
DAVID: Hang on, are you saying you’ve been NURSING one of your charges?
SNOWFLOWER333 (J): Right along side my own. I know Tommy’s not a jaslip and that it’s not human milk, but I figure it’s still better for him than formula. Should I not?
DAVID: Uhhhh… dunno. I’m gonna discuss this with my colleagues. In the meantime, stick to the formula we sent.
SNOWFLOWER333 (J): Alright, David. Though, about that first question….
DAVID: Long story short: we’d harvest milk from domestic bovines as a culinary ingredient and breakfast time staple, but breast feeding stops with infancy. You wouldn’t be sucking a teenager.
SNOWFLOWER333 (J): 😅oh good!
DAVID: Would be a little awkward, huh?
SNOWFLOWER333 (J):🤣A little.
_
GUEST (U): How do you hold a human pup?
DAVID: Cradled in your…. flipper. I guess. Just keep their head supported, it too heavy for them to hold up. You can also hold them to your chest with their head resting over your shoulder.
GUEST (U): We don’t really have shoulders.
DAVID: Nnnnnevermind then.
_
OBORSHINE (K): Is it okay to post my human child on the Internet?
DAVID: I suppose, but try not to embarrass him. OBORSHINE (K): 😜Aww but I’m a mom! Embarrassing him is my job! DAVID: In that case, we’ll send you his baby pics.
OBORSHINE (K): Yeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssss.
_
CALLMESPEED (T) Is it okay to give my child cybernetic implants to cure conditions?
DAVID: That will depend on what condition we’re talking about, but yes, probably. Be sure that they are approved by a human doctor, though.
_
GUEST (S): "Why do you have so many wiggly bits!"
DAVID: Erm, wiggly bits?
GUEST (S): “Yeah! With all the toesy toes and fingery things”
DAVID: Oh! Um, well other race have them too, but I guess ours ARE quite long and nimble. Well, we specialized pretty early on in tool manipulation, soooooooo.
GUEST (S): Raaaaaaaad!
DAVID: Happy to impress. I guess?
_
GUEST (J): How do you hold a human Kit?
DAVID: I wouldn’t know how to hold anything with a prehensile tail, you’re the experts there. But however you do it, be sure that you support the kids head. A human infants head is too heavy for them to hold up by themselves.
_
CALLMESPEED (T): Damn Schieder, always forcing us to cope with the weaknesses of the flesh, and denying us the certainty of steel.
DAVID: Ah, hello Malcom. Does Speed know you’ve hacked his account?
DAVID: Look, that’s not solely my decision kiddo. We put it to a vote. Maybe things will change in the future, but in the meantime, just wait till you’re 18 before you chop your limbs off. You can probably still get an implant, though.”
_
SHOPCLASSREJECT (S): Yeesh, David! How can my kid hit me with a ball from across the room?
DAVID: 😁Talent, my friend. Did you know that humans are being trained as grenadiers in the Consortium army? We have excellent throwing arms. Oh! Uh, you weren’t hurt though, were you?
SHOPCLASSREJECT (S): Eh, A little. My cheek is swollen, but it’s not like I had any bones or teeth to break.. I was mostly just surprised at how fast it came at me.
DAVID: Sorry Shopclass, He should have known better, but it’s a pretty common childhood offense for humans.
SHOPCLASSREJECT (S): Got a new rule, though: no throwing things in the house.
DAVID: Sounds like a good rule.
_
MRS.DOGGY (J): Hey, just got home with my kids and when I was helping Heather remove her foot coverings….. having 5 hind toes is normal for humans, correct? I just want to make sure.
DAVID: 😁 Correct. And we don’t have dewclaws either. MRS.DOGGY (J): Oh good! MRS.DOGGY (J): Erm , that it’s normal, I mean.
_
GUEST (K): WHY WAS I REJECTED! WHAT DID I DO WRONG?
DAVID: Im sorry sir, I don’t know, but I’m sure it was anything against your character. Given our situation and our unfamiliarity with non-humans, we are being excessively cautious with our young and more than 75 percent of applicants were turned down as a result. Perhaps you can try again in a year or two when humanity is a little more accustomed to other sapient species. Please forgive us.
_
BUNCHBERRIES (K): So I noticed one of my female charges has enlarged mammories. Does that mean she secretly has children?
DAVID: No. It’s means she’s a teenager.
DAVID: That’s a normal development.
BUNCHBERRIES (K): 😮‍💨 Oh, thank you .
_
GUEST (R): How do you hold a human hatchling?
DAVID: Cradled in your wing-thing. Just keep their head supported, it too heavy for them to hold up themselves.
_
GUEST (S): How would one hold a human hatchling?
DAVID: cradled in your…. noodley appendage. Support their head.
_
GUEST (K): Me and my wife would like to foster, but- forgive me for asking- can we expect dung throwing to be a problem?
DAVID: 🤣HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Nah. I understand why you’re asking, but we’re higher evolved than that.
_
GUEST (K): Can I have one?
DAVID: You can apply to adopt or foster a child, but that’s no guarantee. We are VERY discriminate about applicants, especially nonhuman ones. Before you put pen to paper, I would consider very carefully whether it’s a child you’re looking for or a pet.
GUEST (K): What’s a pen?
DAVID: Ah, the times we live in…
_
NANNYBIRD35 (R): Jackie has accurately described me as a “Big Bird”, but I cannot for the life of me figure out why he sings a song asking how to get to a place called Sess-Me Street every other time he sees me. Was there something special about that place? What does it have to do with ME?
DAVID: Ok, that’s funny! He thinks you’re a character named Big Bird from a children’s show called Sesame Street [Video link]. Btw, let me know if she ever calls a Krev “Oscar”. I’m gonna laugh.
_
MRS.DOGGY (J): What is a “doggie” anyway, and why do my kids call me that?
DAVID: I was WONDERING when that would come up. I didn’t think it would be useful to explain before, but we had these domestic canines back home called Dogs and you kinda resemble one. They were intelligent, trusty, loyal creatures that helped us hunt, herd livestock, guard our turf, and and were beloved members of our families. None of the kids have met a dog in the flesh, but they’ve been lionized in books and cartoons and your resemblance to them is strong enough to trigger an instinctive adoration we had towards them.
MRS.DOGGY (J): They…. think I’m a pet? Like with you and the Krev?
DAVID: Hey, if they haven’t told you to ”Sit” or “Roll over” I think you’re good. But the point is, the kids trust you implicitly, and when you’ve suddenly been thrown to aliens after living in a hole all your life, having a comforting face to keep you stable counts for a lot.
MRS.DOGGY (J): Oh! 😊Well, I think I can live with that.
_
OBORSHINE (K): How do I take care of Samsons head fur? It’s getting so long and tangled!
DAVID: Oh right. Only jaslips need to brush. We’ll send you a proper hair brush. In the meantime. Get a jaslip brush- one with wide bristle spacing- and gently comb the knots out, starting from the bottom and slowly working your way up. We can also try to get you in contact with a human who has experience cutting hair.
_
TEACUPGUY (K): Dang, I had no idea human fur would get longer. How much longer does it get?
DAVID: Down to their hips or farther. Doesn’t really stop. You’ll either want to get it trimmed or let grow so you can tie it up behind their heads.
_
GUEST (T): How do you hold a human hatchling?
DAVID: Cradled comfortably in whichever bionic limb is not capable of crushing a car. Make sure to keep their head supported. They don’t have the neck muscles to hold it up
GUEST (T): 😊 Oh that’s fixable.
DAVID: Thanks but NO.
_
BUNCHABERRIES (K): David! Jeremy’s caught the MONKEY POX!
DAVID: … The what?
BUNCHABERRIES (K): What do I do?! He’s been getting worse and worse all week!
DAVID: Stay cam Berries, What are the symptoms?
BUNCHABERRIES (K): He’s broken out in purple spots! And he’s aslo listless. Stomach ach. Head ach. Poor boy can’t even get out of bed! He just sits there and groans and today he asked if I was an “angel” I’m at wits end!
DAVID: Ah. THAT monkey pox. School’s in session, right?
BUNCHABERRIES (K): Is that really relevant?!
DAVID: Just trust me. Check his backpack. Is there a pen or marker that is the EXACT same color as the spots?
BUNCHABERRIES (K): There is.
BUNCHABERRIES (K): Why?
DAVID: Take it and draw a little dot next to the ones on his skin. Make it roughly the same size.
BUNCHABERRIES (K): Ok. Done.
BUNCHABERRIES (K): OH THAT SEAKY LITTLE-!
DAVID: My work here is done.
BUNCHABERRIES (K): HE IS SO GROUNDED!
_
HAPPYHATCHLINGS: David, this is Tisa at Happy Hatchlings Early Learning School. We’ve noticed that our human students can’t seem to get comfortable in their napping nests and keep hanging their feet over the edges. It’s like they can’t curl up!
DAVID: They can’t. Not long term, anyway, and not as tightly as other Consiortium races. You’re going to need longer, flatter beds that they can stretch out on and keep their spines relatively straight. We’ll be sure to send you some cots.
_
DADJOKE (K): 😉 Thanks for the sponges, but I think my wife’s got bathtime covered.
[Folder Attachments: 7 photos ]
[Pic 1: A shot of two shirtless human boys [ages 5 and 6] in makeshift “war paint” running screaming past the camera as a jaslip with a wild grin skids around the corner after them.]
[Pic 2: The victorious jaslip sits on her haunches with one of the boy hopelessly tangled in her tails and the other grappled between her forelegs. The latter is getting her full professional attention as she licks the warpaint off his face, ignoring his cries of disgust and attempts to wiggle free.]
[Pic 3: Said boy apparently opened his mouth at an inopportune moment and is now spitting and sputtering while Mama Jaslip laughs herself to tears.]
[Pic 4: One of the boys laughing hysterically as the jaslip pins him down across her forelegs and licks his belly.]
[Pic 5: a close up on one boy getting his hair worked on, wincing uncomfortably as Mama Jaslip get a blunt claw in his eyebrow while maneuvering his head this way and that for the right grooming angle.]
[Pic 6: Arm around the boys shoulder, Mama proudly presents her work to the camera; one mostly warpaint free human with a complimentary cowlick. The lock of hair is stuck straight up, stiff with spit, like an alfalfa leaf. Mama is winking at the camera and doing her best thumbs-up while the boy is shooting a disgruntled side eye at his brother who is laughing at the abominable hairdo.]
[Pic 7: Mama has one of the boys lying on his stomach while she leisurely grooming his back. He’s resting his chin on his arms, looking sleepy. His brother, nestled among Mama’s tails in the back ground, is yawning. Mama kinda looks tired herself.]
[Pic 8: All three of them are asleep. Mama seems to have nodded off on top of the boy she was cleaning, her head draped across his back. The other is lying against her side, his head barely visible above the nest of tails blanketing him].
DADJOKE (K): The kids have started calling her “The Kissy Monster” when she gets like this.
DAVID: Oh my gosh! This is so freaking cute! Do have them use the sponges, though. Tongue bathing isn’t really doable for longterm human hygiene.
DADJOKE (K): 😊Glad you liked it. But yeah, I get it. Most consortium races aren’t keen on the slobber fest either.
CRAZYTAILS (J): 😏Funny, YOU didn’t seem to mind the other night.
DADJOKE (K): 😳…
DAVID: 😳…
CRAZYTAILS (J):😏 You forgot this was a joint account, didn’t you?
DADJOKE (K): Just wasn’t expecting you to be logged in right now. Hi sweetheart.
CRAZYTAILS (J): 😊Hey scalyboi.
DAVID: Um, hey, before you two keep flirting dirty, what was it the boys were marked with?
CRAZYTAILS (J): Hm? Oh, just washable marker. They were playing “Viking Warriors” or something, running around, slaying monsters, ambushing DadJoke in his den, and beating each other silly with pool noodles for a two hour straight. That until I, the dreaded Kissy Monster, vanquished them both and subjected them to bath and bedtime! Muahaha!
DADJOKE (K): As for what you really wanted to know, she didn’t suffer from licking the stuff. The markers are made with Jaslip kits in mind, so they needed to be nontoxic and tasteless in case they or their parents have to clean up some body doodling.
CRAZYTAILS (J): same with Jaslip cosmetics, btw. Some are even flavored. Makes cleaning up after dates pretty fun, right Daddy?
DADJOKE (K): Fluffykins, if I say I’ll be leaving the office in half an hour, will you stop embarrassing me on a public forum?
CRAZYTAILS (J): 🥰I’ll be waiting with the candles.
_
GUEST (K): Is it ok to pet humans pups?
DAVID: Lemme put it this way; what do you call a Krev who goes around petting Krev children?
GUEST (K): Creepy?
DAVID: 👉Bingo.
GUEST (K): Huh? What’s that mean?
DAVID: It means yes, petting kids is creepy.
_
DR.WORM (guess): Hey, what’s an appropriate amount of holopad time for the kids, 10 hours or 12?
DAVID:…
DAVID: Doc- First of all; not a real doctor, i presume?
DR.WORM (S): Sure ain’t!
DAVID: 😉👉👉But you ARE a real worm?
DR.WORM (S): YES! I KNEW I picked the right pop culture reference!
DAVID: 👍👏🏻Sure did. Sure did.
DAVID: Sooooo let’s talk screen time.
DR.WORM (S): Yeeeeeaaaaah aright, I was kiiiiinda guessing 10 was a too much. Is 8 right?
DAVID: Try two.
DR.WORM (S): TWO?!?!
DAVID: Yup.
DR.WORM (S): TWO HOURS?!?!
DAVID: Yup, yup, yup.
DR.WORM (S): HOLY [expletive] MAN! I’VE BEEN FRYING THEIR BRAINS!
DAVID: You open sometime this week, Doc? We’re gonna help you out.
_
GUEST (R): You let jaslip take care of your hatchlings? Are you crazy?! [COMMENT DELETED]
_
CRAZYTAILS (J): What IS a wolf? The boys Insisted I be one in one of their games.
DAVID: This guy [attachment]
CRAZYTAILS (J): Woah. Now THAT’s a handsome face.
DADJOKE (K): Eh-hem.
CRAZYTAILS (J): Well, not handsomer than my husband’s.
_
CRAZYTAILS (J): Is growing long head-fur some sort of defense mechanism against grooming? Because it’s starting to work. Hard to get the stringy stuff off my tongue. Bleugh.
DAVID: heh. Sounds like the boys need a haircut. Swing by Tellus, we got some barbers that can shape em up.
DAVID: Or just let them grow it out until they can tie it behind their heads
CRAZYTAILS (J): The latter sounds like less trouble honestly.
_
BETWEENBILLOWS (U): Should I be concerned that Maria has a figurine of a dead human nailed to a T on a necklace? It’s kinda morbid.
DAVID: Believe it or not, that’s a religious symbol. Did she not tell you about it?
BETWEENBILLOWS (U): David, she barely talks to us at all. It’s been three weeks and she hardly leaves her room.
DAVID: Hmm... Well THAT might be cause for concern. Let’s talk over PM.
_

A shoutout and apology basket to u/kabhes and u/HeadWood_ who’s suggested questions I kinda stole. There were several others that I wanted to feature but couldn’t figure out how to work with.

2024.05.21 01:13 No_Artichoke_2557 Internalised homophobia/shame of DL/bi-curious guys

I guess I was asking for it, but after many years (!) of chatting to a 'straight' guy from an app on and off, we spontaneously reconnected last week and met up for the first time. I gave him a hand job and no more. He seemed to enjoy it, and so did I, and we text a little afterwards. He messaged me a week later starting with general pleasantries and then moving into flirting/sexting. But he soon started to undermine me and the experience. He said he would have 'performed' better if I were a women. He said he didn't like when I touched myself (it was a very brief moment over my clothing) and he didn't like that my beard was too long. He then proceeded to have the audacity to ask for pictures/videos as he was horny, which I clearly refused after those comments and we ended the conversation relatively quickly. I am not naive and I have been around the block with DL/bi-curious men but this has to be the worst experience I have ever had, particularly because he then proceeded to ask and coerce me for sexting/pics. He claimed he would be more likely meet me again if I sent him pics/videos!
I am angry at myself as an out gay man even giving this guy the pleasure of getting what himself off, then shrouding it in secrecy (he will never come out or want anyone to know) and then be essentially homophobic towards me afterwards - why do (some of) us gays do it to ourselves?!
p.s. yes the D was impressive to be fair.

2024.05.21 00:09 arugula_fox Finally Home at DC

Finally Home at DC
I first learned about Kibbe four or so years ago and immediately loved the idea of refining a wardrobe based on it, but was also immediately overwhelmed. I had a gut feeling it may be DC for me, but overall, I became too bogged down in worries about my own bias and all the language. So I gave up.
The last year or so, I've been toying around with it again and trying to be more objective about it. There are several types I knew I could rule out right away, but about 3 or 4 I'd consider over and over again, with none of them feeling quite right. This past weekend I took a quiz again with a better grasp of the concepts and got a leaning DC result. Huh, I thought. Could it be?
It all makes sense now. I'm only 5'2", but people have always thought I'm a bit taller - not extremely so, they just never think of me as "short" exactly. "Petite" has never been a word used to describe me. Even as a child, I didn't have the childlike or dainty qualities that seem to be associated with gamines, so despite my height, those types just never felt right. My face has always felt more dramatic: I have a large, bony nose and non-rounded eyes. My cheek bones too are more prominent at my ideal weight and I have a heavy browline (thus the bangs). My hands and feet are large for my height, but otherwise, my body feels fairly neutral: a defined waist and bust, but not overly curvy, either. My hair has a bit of a natural wave, but I feel overwhelmed when it's too "free" and prefer a more defined style - pic is about as wild as I let it get.
I was still doubting it a bit until last night I was going over the recommended clothing lines for DC and it hit me: these are all my comfort items that I've always felt best in. I love tapered skirts and strong, clean necklines. I feel lost in anything without structure and love heavier linens, crisp cottons, items with interfacing. I want to wear a tailored blazer with everything. All my favorite shoes are narrow with a pointed toe: not too delicate or too chunky, but just right. I like straight and wide legged pants, but not skinny or oversized ones. My ideal outfit is neutral with a punch of color. Handbags, too, should be structured and sleek. Jewelry significant, but not chunky either. Maybe this is it!
I'd love to hear any of your aha moment stories. I'm excited to be here finally and learn more about how to look & feel our best. Of course, if you feel I've missed something and might more closely align with another type, I'm open to that delivered in a constructive manner as well.
Pic is of me in some of my best staples. I'm a bit heavier than my ideal weight, but feeling quite good in this outfit all the same 🙂

2024.05.20 20:33 hey1777 Male nipple protrusion/projection reduction surgery. Any experiences?

Hey everyone,
Male in my early 30s. I had gynecomastia reduction surgery about 7-8 years ago. It totally transformed my chest AND my nipples. I finally felt like I had a masculine, flat chest. This has been especially true when I’m consistent with my diet and weight lifting. Totally transformed my self confidence and the clothes I can wear, my sex life, self esteem… all of that.
However, my nipples after surgery, absolutely prettier than before, and they look “normal”, the actual nipple - not the areola - projects out more than I’d like and is bigger than I’d like. Also, my right side is a little bit bigger than the left which is not really noticeable at first glance but I notice it.
Also, my right nipple basically gets rock hard with any slight touch or anything so it’s always hard where the right takes longer to get hard which makes them look more uneven.
While I don’t usually get comments on it, once or twice I have and it makes me more insecure than I already am about it.
Because of my nipples, even after surgery, I don’t feel comfortable wearing a white shirt (which, my men with gynecomastia know is the dream after surgery), I don’t feel comfortable wearing thin shirts of any color out in public, and even when I’m really muscular and built, I’m insecure wearing tight shirts to show off my muscles because my nipples always look hard and big (think Pamela Anderson or Jennifer Aniston). While yes my chest is “flat” meaning it doesn’t look like female breasts, (I do have pec muscle so it’s not like a flat wall) my nipples still make me feel like I look like I have a feminine leaning chest - or - it’s just embarrassing tbh to have such large nipples.
The areola isn’t visible in that it’s puffy, but the nipple is.
So this brings me to today, I’m increasingly insecure about it and frankly I’m tired of still avoiding lots of shirts and colors because of my nipples. I don’t want to wear any tight tank tops or compression garments because I freed myself from that with gynecomastia surgery.
I think I want to do this now and have surgery for my nipples. I’ve been researching and it seems to be minimally invasive, done under local anesthesia, finished in about an hour, about a week or two downtime for exercise, and minimal scarring.
I’m starting nursing school pre reqs next week and will have about a month and a half before my actual program starts after that, so I feel like that would be a great time to do it.
I made a consultation with a surgeon with the most before and after pics of this particular surgery that I found in my area in 3 weeks.
So this brings me to you guys, have any of you had this surgery? What was it like? Were your results worth it? Are you happy? Are you able to wear anything you want now? Are there any downsides?
Thanks everyone

2024.05.20 19:47 Easy_Ad_3846 Shooting Voigtlander adapted lenses on GFX 50S II (Plus Mamiya 80mm f1.9 C M645 guest appearance)

Shooting Voigtlander adapted lenses on GFX 50S II (Plus Mamiya 80mm f1.9 C M645 guest appearance)
Things got a bit squirrely over the weekend, so I decided I needed a break to get out into the park and try out a couple of new lenses I have on trial. Apologies if I have any technical terms down wrongly, hopefully the descriptions will be adequate accompaniment for the pics.
Voigtlander Nokton 75mm f1.5mm Aspherical & Heliar Classic 50mm f1.5
I really like the rendering of this lens. To my less experienced eyes, it seems the micro-contrast is decent, but it's just the organic feel of the image I like, especially the OOF areas.
All of the following were shot between f1.5 and f2 - apologies as I didn't keep exact notes. All shots were in Aperture priority mode, at ISO 1600 with the manual lens adapter settings for focal length in the GFX menus set at 75mm and 50mm, as appropriate, which should (in theory) mean there was some IBIS in the mix.
For aesthetics and handling, the Heliar 50mm looks drop dead gorgeous with that contrasting nickel-finish band. The aperture ring clicks just a tiny bit more positively and makes the cheaper lens feel that it's cut from a very, very slightly better quality cloth. However, that's entirely subjective, I'm sure others could find that nickel finish slightly gaudy and prefer the clean lines of the Nokton 75. Both get high marks for perceived build quality and the detents in the aperture rings. Both also have smooth, well damped focus rings.
For image quality though, I felt this Nokton 75mm looked noticeably better when adapted to the GFX, which is probably as much about the difference in focal length as it is the quality or design of the optics, although the Aspherical elements in the Nokton *could* also play a part there. For me, both have a smooth, organic rendering to them on that sensor, but I still prefer the Nokton by a hair even in that respect. The biggest negative for the Heliar Classic 50 is that there is some weird compression in the out-of-focus areas just off-center, approximately where lines of thirds would be if made into a circle? It's very reminiscent of swirly bokeh lenses such as a Helios 44M, and I found it too distracting.
The Nokton, on the other hand, has a surprisingly small amount of vignetting for an adapted lens, and needs minimal cropping for these shots to make it mostly imperceptible, although it is a little strong right in the corners with this busy background. However, for smoothness of out of focus areas when at f2 and below, I really like this lens.
Coming from Canon, via Sony, and only recently to GFX, I had no issues with finding the focus ring with my eye pressed to the viewfinder and found focus peaking to get me close on almost every shot. Unfortunately, of those 'almost' shots, my keeper rate was probably around 25%, and only five of those would be 100% in focus (out of 81 shots)
For each pair of images here (Nokton 75mm), the A shows the full, uncropped image, with some noticeable hard vignetting right in the corners. There is some swirliness to the image, but it's lighter, and much further towards the outside than the Heliar Classic. The B shows a center crop - 2B is VERY usable at 3450x2588 pixels, 1/340s, and approx F2 (I didn't make notes of my apertures, sorry, but they were all very wide!)
Nokton 75mm - settings below
Nokton 75mm - settings below
** RAWs 1A, 1B, 2A, and 2B have not been edited in Lightroom, except for guestimating the color temp at 5500k. RAWs 3A, and 3B, the black squirrel, were set to 5000k and had some minor tweaks to contrast, texture, shadows, and blacks for the enlargement to show a little detail in the fur. All images resized to 1600px on the longest edge for posting here. All images shot with the Nokton 75mm**

Obviously, directly comparing these two lenses isn't entirely fair, or even appropriate, but I have found it hard to find solid examples of these lenses converted to Medium Format, so I thought I would post some examples for anyone in the same boat. The comparative focal lengths on Full Frame would be 40mm and 60mm.
Heliar Classic 50mm f1.5 - uncropped - ISO 800, 1/40s, 4800k no other edits
Here is a straight-out-of-camera jpeg showing a fairly distorted foreground with the Heliar Classic 50mm
Heliar Classic 50mm f1.5
In an attempt to give some context, I had also done a similar walk earlier in the week with similar lighting conditions using the Mamiya Sekor C 80mm f1.9 with a kipon adapter on the GFX 50S II. Here are a couple of shots in the same format - uncropped, unedited except to set color temp, shot in Aperture priority mode.
Uncropped - Mamiya Sekor 80mm at f1.9 and 1/18c 5000k, no other adjustments
Zooming in...
As above, but with some light sharpening and noise reduction in LrC
In summary, I feel the 75mm Nokton Asph adapts much better to Fuji GFX than then Heliar Classic 50mm. The vignetting is less noticeable, and it doesn't have the same weird compression going on that the Heliar had in my setup. While they both have good color rendering and the micro-contrast seems like it could be decent (I'm no expert and it's difficult to judge at 1600 ISO), the 75mm Nokton ASPH is the one I will be keeping and looking to use. I think both lenses could work well for portraits with a less jumbled background, but I would still take the Nokton every time. The Mamiya has the distinct advantage of being designed for a bigger sensor and just shows a clean, organic image, with no serious stylistic affectations. I really want to shoot some portraits with the Nokton and Mamiya to see how the latter works with a larger cubject in the center of the frame as this is the mean reason I purchased the camera. I will make a follow-up posting if there is enough interest and I can find someone to model for me.
Finishing up... be aware that both Voigtlander lenses do appear to have some issues with flaring, I did not have either (included) lens hood available to see whether this would have made a difference.
Nokton 75mm at around f2 and ISO 200 and 1/2400s
I hope this helps anyone looking for a high quality, modern, manual focus lens which will work almost as well on Medium Format as others have shown it to do on Full Frame. Both Voigtlanders seem very capable and the ultimate choice is likely to be subjective for each person. The Mamiya has good resolution, possibly slightly more muted colors (although these were shot on a different day to the Voigtlanders) and has almost as wide of a maximum aperture. The Mamiya might be a bit cheaper used but prices are volatile and climbing for most good quality medium format lenses.

This Pro-Tech is new, never carried, with factory edge. All original paperwork, cloth bag and box included.
** Please note that while the knife is new, because of the nature of the knife lock, it has been opened a few times causing a small mark under the pocket clip on the handle. Admittedly, I’ve had a lot of fun handing the knife to a buddy while saying “bet you can’t get this one open.” There are no marks at all on the knife with the exception of the one mentioned, which is noted in the Imgur pics, as well. The mark is very small and nearly unnoticeable, nonetheless there, therefore worth mentioning.
Thanks for looking!

Help identifying some of these beautiful gals?
my husband and I were at a garage sale last week and we found this great lot of Barbies with clothes! I'm having a blast going through everything because growing up my sister and I had all the Barbies and clothes and sets and accessories. Our collection was given away and donated and it's such a big regret! I even had all the Jem dolls ugh! Anyways, I've been able to identify a few of these lovely ladies but am having trouble with some and any help would be greatly appreciated! I haven't played with Barbies since I was younger (I'm 41 right now) and can I tell you how excited I am by this find?!
Need help with pics 1, 2, and 3! I can answer any other questions or provide more pics!
2nd pic: Brunette - Wedding Tracy from 1982?
4th pic: I think that's Sun Lovin Malibu Barbie 1978, Pearl Beach Barbie 1997, and Twist N Turn Stacey 1969.
Last pic: I identified and found the clothes for Twirly Curls Barbie 1982, Magic Moves Barbie 1985, and Tropical Ken and Miko 1985.

2024.05.20 16:18 pourthatyouthaway First time building a capsule wardrobe. Help

Hi everyone, I'm a 30-year-old woman who has never really bought clothes due to my agoraphobia. I'm doing a lot better now and I feel having some basics to get out would help a lot. I would love to build a capsule wardrobe but l'm feeling overwhelmed. I have no idea what my 'style' is so l'm just focusing on basics and seasonal (spring summer) at the moment leaning towards minimal and classic. I’ve attached pics of my method so far narrowing down quality items and prices (I’ve only purchased tees tanks and few denim pieces so far)
Questions: 1. How much should I expect to spend initially? I want to invest in quality pieces but also be mindful of my budget. 2. What should I buy first? Are there specific items that form the foundation of a capsule wardrobe? 3. Any tips for someone just starting out? Especially considering my situation, are there any resources or online stores you'd recommend? (I can only shop online) I have been trying to thrift online where I can, the resources available to me in the UK (Depop eBay Vinted)* Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions!

2024.05.20 15:32 Fearful5521 Getting a doll for my friend not into dolls?

I regularly talk about my dolls with my non-doll hobby friends, and definitely I had all kinds of reactions. Anyway, one of my friends sees that I am really into dolls and stuff and she thinks some of my dolls (mainly my bjds and probably dollfies) are really pretty but she doesn't feel tempted to start collecting any. She sees how they are my emotional support dolls and she wish she had a hobby to dive into/obsess over etc. I am thinking, maybe if I get her one, she will see how therapeutic doll play can be?
I thought it would be cool to buy her a "my first doll", but for adults. BJDs are out of the question budget wise. So are dollfies and azones. Plus the 1/6 azones are too small and not huggable.
I thought precious moments dolls were perfect - the price point, plus she wouldn't think it's too childish. But then I took a pic of one of them after washing my stuffed toys and one of them, she was like "now she seems sad". So I guess she's not a fan of the teardrop eyes. My second option are those crocheted dolls or those cloth dolls.
Ideally I would like to get a doll that is at least 9-12 inches tall, 50 -70 usd max, doesn't look too childish/may not be misconstrued as children's playthings, doesn't look like one of those aliexpress dolls/american dolls. (I personally collect Barbie, I know a lot of adults collect Rainbow High, Laloopsy but some non-doll people might perceive them as children's toys?)Perhaps Maru and Friends are ok but Little Darling dolls look better and at this point I am not ready to get one for anyone else except myself.
I feel like one day the answer may come to me when I least expect it. Or maybe not. Or maybe this is just a bad idea in the first place. Please feel free to let me know your opinions/two cents etc. :)

2024.05.20 10:03 MrDiddyDonut 1 year weight loss - look better than I ever thought I could! Plus other benefits

Start of May last year I recognised I needed to lose weight, so I took a reference photo and started logging calories and weight in MFP.
Started at about 91kg, estimated around 30% bf (I did that calculation a while ago so can't remember how I did that, I think I accounted for 10% of the weight being muscle loss). I'm now at 71kg with 17% bf (again, not accurate as I only have cheap scales).
Progress pics: https://imgur.com/a/WsRnHhm
I never knew what I'd look like after losing fat, so seeing before and after is a shock to me, especially after thinking I wasn't seeing much change in my body!
But other than looks, a lot has improved. Fitness, strength, stamina, motivation, confidence, clothing, a lot more active, more hobbies, more activities I can take part in & more. I've just started bouldering - I would have never thought I'd do that even once!
There's all these things that improve but at the start you only focus/think it's about losing fat.
I'm focussing on muscle growth and being able to see abs as a personal goal now, but sometimes forget to look back at what's been achieved already.

Update: woof woof mark tell 🐕
  1. I was going through the followers of one of the strange pages in the other post about the dogs. I did not think I would find anything relevant but found two people who are in the industry following this page (iaminlovewithyourpets…) Michael Anthony is FOLLOWING - Ariana grande’s makeup artist - did her makeup for the 2024 Met Gala. One other person who is a photographer affiliated with Elliot Wilson, Eric Johnson is FOLLOWING. Not sure if this has any relevancy but thought I would give an update.
  2. I also mentioned HL in the previous post and was doing some looking for connections and was only able to find this post on Facebook from Vogue that is no longer on the site. It talks about wearing a HL dress at the Mark. I then tried to find pictures of the model and literally nothing has come up her name is Eugenia. Even reversed image searched her. Nothing. Then I searched for the photographer of the pic and he passed away in 2022. Marko MacPherson. He is listed as a dog whisperer in his ob. He took pics of dogs apparently in the Bowery Hotel in New York but frequented THE M. The font on the clothing looks like Lingua Franca (the designers who make the clothing for the Mark). Not sure the significance of this but the bowery doesn’t have clothing or dog merch that looks like that.
I think all that this shows is that there are more people into this than known. I don’t think it’s that farfetched for drake to be into dogs unfortunately. Especially after what his internet bestie AK, ex gf said about being trans K9.

2024.05.20 00:46 complexluminary Carpet update, warping, tension, and spacing. YIKES.

Carpet update, warping, tension, and spacing. YIKES.
Greetings everyone
Just wanted to post a quick update on my carpet project! It’s been a busy couple of weeks, but I believe I’ve been able to warp my loom in a way that I’m kinda happy with.
Using a warping board, I created sheaves of warp that were then fit directly onto the warping bars which sit in a notched-groove beveled into the cloth beams. You can actually see this in the photo - the bottom cloth beam is positioned so that the notch and bar are visible. I still have some issues with uneven tension and I have a few ideas of how I might remedy this in the future. In a previous post, I linked a view videos of weavers in Turkey warping and dressing a large floor loom similar to the my own. In the video, the weavers can be seen creating the warp in one long, continuous sheave around two verticals poles.
I’ve thought about creating a similar apparatus, where I could vertically position the two iron rods around two individual bases. I could separate the bases (in which the rods are secured) are space them to the vertical specs of the textile. I’d then warp around the two posts in a figure 8, and perhaps running a line of crochet across the top and bottom of the warp to keep the warp threads organized and separate. The two rods could then be removed from the bases and affixed into their notches. Idk, I don’t think it would be tooo tricky to figure out. Perhaps it could help.
Anyway…..the sheaves were fit onto the rods, which were placed into the cloth bars. The top was rolled up (as evenly as possible lol) and the bottom rod was fit in place before the bottom cloth beam was tensioned down.
I’ve begun the process of weaving a header and organizing the threads. I’m planning on weaving an inch of header using the same weft as the warp. Aside from pics of plain weaving, there will be at least one row of soumak, where weft essentially wraps around and separates the warps.
I’m still early into weaving the header, but I’m hoping I’m able to space things out MUCH better than this. lol send me good vibes.
Once the header is woven and thing feel separated and spaced properly, Ill proceed to stringing the heddles.
I’m sure I’m making loads of mistakes, but I’m still loving every minute of this.

2024.05.20 00:38 m4tt4orever Should I create retargeting ads specifically for middle of the funnel? ($200/Day Spend)

So I recently started restructuring my campaigns and got really into catalog ads and it has me questioning more. Here's a pic
But I'm kind of stuck after what happens after broad testing. I just feel like I'm catering my top of the funnel only and some bottom funnel with only one DPA 7 days retarget for ATC and VC. There's just something really missing in the middle but I'm not sure how to approach it.
My main concern is I don't want to keep flooding top of the funnel ads to an audience that is already warm.
I started by creating audiences for Website Visitors - 7 Days, and IG Engaged 7 - Days, and I plan on including these audiences into my ads that are focused more towards middle funnel.
But my question is do I just put this into my broad testing campaign or do I just add it into my RT campaign?
Is this even worth it? How do I approach this?
(Also to note, it's a clothing brand, in the streetwear niche)
