2024.05.21 16:29 AwarenessOpposite410 Staycation Disaster

Hi! I want to share my family’s experience sa isang private villa in Binangonan, Rizal. That villa has 2 units. Lagi sila fully-booked and that weekend may kasabay kami na nag team building daw. 25 pax sila while kami 9pax lang. We rented the place to celebrate the bday of my disabled mother and the pregnancy of my sis-in-law.
We all went to our rooms na around 12mn to rest. Around that time tolerable pa yung ingay. Nakatulog kami ng asawa ko mga 1am na then may hiyawan na malakas. 30mins pa lang ako nakakatulog. From 1:30am onwards, di na tumigil yung ingay. We tried calling the caretakers pati yung marketing team nila.. walang sumasagot. Out of frustration, kumatok na kami dun sa staff quarters walang sumasagot. Kaya around 3am tumawag na kami ng barangay thru 911. Medyo hesitant pa nga sila puntahan pero sinabi ko na may barangay ordinance na bawal mag-ingay ng 10pm-6am. Public disturbance yun.
Then almost 4am wala pa yung barangay and finally lumabas na yung caretakers. Kinatok nila twice yung isang villa para patigilin.
Sabi namin maingay pa din kayo at may videos kami to prove it 2.
We opted for deescalation. Umalis na kami ng kapatid ko and let our husbands handle the situation. May lumapit sa kanila na pinaka matanda ata sa group to say sorry. Ginising ko na mother ko and sis in law to prepare to leave the place kasi anong laban namin sa 25 pax na brats and lasing. Umalis lang yung barangay then tuloy pa din sila sa pag mock samin. Nagpaparinig pa yung mga EBs.
First half of the stay is ok pero disaster yung half. I got sick because of the stress and lack of sleep. We demanded for a refund pero 30% lang binalik. Sobrang traumatic ng experience and I want those EBs to learn their lesson. Sadly, we were told na “future leaders” pala tong mga to. May mga kapit daw kaya they do whatever they want.
I hope you can give me advice. I don’t want to let this pass pero I dont want to go thru the stress of reporting them. Pero di ko maatim na sila yung so-called “future leaders”. Role models dapat sila ng youth pero basic respect wala sila.

In today’s digitally interconnected world, having a robust social media presence is not just a marketing option but a necessity, especially for public companies aiming to engage with current and potential investors. If your company is limiting its social media activity to just one or two platforms, it’s time to reconsider your strategy. Diversifying your social media outreach across multiple platforms can significantly enhance investor awareness and engagement. Here’s why and how to effectively implement this approach.

WHY DIVERSIFY YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE?

Reach a Wider Audience
Every investor has their preferred social media platform. By limiting your presence to just Twitter or LinkedIn, for example, you might miss out on engaging with potential investors who prefer Instagram, Facebook, or even TikTok. Broadening your social media activity ensures that you reach a more diverse audience, maximizing your potential investor base.
Platform-Specific Strengths
Each social media platform has unique features and user demographics. LinkedIn is great for professional updates and detailed company news, while Twitter is excellent for quick, real-time updates. Instagram and TikTok are perfect for visually appealing content, and YouTube allows for in-depth video presentations and earnings calls. Utilizing the strengths of each platform can enhance how you communicate your company’s value proposition.
Enhanced Engagement
Consistent posting across multiple platforms increases your visibility and keeps your company top-of-mind for investors. The more touchpoints you have, the more opportunities for engagement. Diverse content types – from news releases and project updates to interviews and events – can cater to various preferences, making your updates more engaging.

EFFECTIVE MULTI-PLATFORM POSTING STRATEGIES

Tailor Content to Each Platform
While it’s efficient to share the same message across platforms, it’s crucial to tailor your content to fit the style and audience of each platform. For instance, a detailed news release might perform well on LinkedIn but could be condensed into key highlights for Twitter and accompanied by a compelling visual for Instagram. Stock Marketing customizes each post to to align with the unique style and audience of each platform.
Consistency is Key
Regular posting helps maintain your presence and keeps your audience engaged. Posting more than just your news releases not only helps in keeping your audience informed but also improves your algorithmic standing on these platforms, enhancing visibility.

THE BUSINESS CASE FOR MULTI-PLATFORM SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY

Investors today rely heavily on digital channels for information. A strong, multi-platform social media strategy can position your company as transparent, accessible, and innovative. Here’s how it can benefit your business:

Aetherians of the New Empire are banned from ever returning to Aetheria or from joining into the One. The border net is a solid wall to non-authorized Aetherians, impenetrable. The Elo Eloahim passes through the net without a hitch.
The Blade has now come to a full stop. The shuttle carrying Excelsior Andriel is docking with the Blade. Once the shuttle is cleared of occupants, it will return to the Elo Eloahim autonomously.
Excelsior Andriel has made his way back to the bridge of the Blade and is admiring the border net through the giant viewer screens. I haven't been out here for many strands. Beautiful to look at.
Send some technicals out to one of those nodes to have a look at it. I am sure it is manifest, but there must be a way to defeat it. I want to tear a hole in it, big enough to push the Blade through it, Andriel says.
There is only one express elevator that drops down to the 17th floor. The operator must enter a series of codes as the elevator descends. The codes are changed frequently like a password.
There are government secrets on 17 that can never be accessed by unauthorized personnel, says Steven as the elevator nears the bottom floor of the Pine Bluff underground base. The door opens and Nancy, Walter, Brad and the two techies spill out of the elevator to a large hall with long corridors running down each side. The footprint of the bottom floor covers about 120,000 square feet, about the size of a car factory or supersized retail store.
We have all your gear in a lab down this hallway, says Steven. We are anxious to see your device at work, Oscar says. Hey, do you guys want to see something really cool? Steven asks.
All three nod in unison. Great. Follow me, Steven says.
The group walks down a hall and enters a lab, lots of tables, computers, not much to see really. Up on one table is a group of long plastic tubes, 12 inches in diameter, maybe 4 or 5 feet long. You can see mirrors at the end.
Wow, this looks interesting, Walter says. You are looking at the real reason we went into Iraq. Saddam had this built from instructions found on ancient Sumerian clay tablets found near where Babylon once stood.
They called it the Looking Glass. Our CIA guys heard about it and had photos and diagrams of it smuggled out of Iraq. We recreated it out at Area 51, Groom Lake actually.
When they saw that it worked, the powers that be, Steven makes air quotes with his hands, decided to go in and get it. This is the real deal. The whole 9-11 scam was part of an elaborate plan to get this thing out of Iraq. That’s my opinion.
Plus other sundry items. Walter, Nancy, and Brad are just stunned. Steven turns on a light source that bounces around from mirror to mirror and ends up at a large concave mirror, 15 inches in diameter.
You can see faint moving images on the mirror's surface that look like old 8mm grainy film. It looks like rioting in the streets, store shelves empty, a stark apocalyptic scene. Large crowds gather around the U.S. Capitol building and the Vatican.
Steven, where are these images coming from? Brad asks. From the future? Steven responds. No? Brad says. Yes, from the future. Steven says.
Somehow, light being moved over all these mirrored surfaces breaks out a light that is streaming in from the future. Walter moves in closer. So are these images just random snippets? Or are they organized in some manner? Walter questions.
The best we can tell is that they are like listening to an old AM radio at night. Stations from far away can drown out stations that are close by. Just sort of a jumble of music coming in and fading out.
It seems that the images are from different points in the future. One may be 5 years out and the next 50 years away, Steven says. So, what is so important about it, Nancy asks? Think about it, Nancy, having advanced warning of coming events.
Plus, many times we can see advanced technology. It's priceless, Oscar says as he reaches over and turns off the device. The one big drawback, however, is that, just us witnessing of these events will change them.
It's a very tight loop. We have been shooting video from the big mirror. When we compare previously shot video from images from the look in glass, they are different.
Some in subtle ways and others in major ways. Simply observing the future changes it. So we only keep it on for brief periods until we understand this phenomenon better, Steven concludes. Okay, let's get you guys settled into your lab. I am really looking forward to learning more about this superlight. Our world is amazing, isn't it? Steven says,
Washington DC is spectacular at sundown. The lights from the monuments and government buildings make for dramatic and exciting backdrop for the world leaders and dignitaries that visit, as well as the everyday politicians that haunt the city. A group of high-powered cabinet secretaries and military bosses have sit down for an emergency meeting with the president. Gentlemen, greetings and thank you for coming up here to the White House on such short notice.
I have been receiving phone calls and veiled threats from world leaders all day. Number one, what is all this fuss really all about? And secondly, what is going to be our stance in regards to this crazy technology, which I have heard very little about? Are we just going to take it from a private company and turn it over to all the governments of the world? The president asks out of breath, Mr. President, if I may, says Senator Abramson, who is seated on one of the two sofas just in front of the president's big resolute desk. I believe I was the first one to hear of this device.
I heard from a doctor that works at the company, one of my constituents. He came to me frantic and told me many details about this device. He had the presence of mind to film an experiment he participated in, shot on his cell phone.
I was so concerned about this horror show being in my district, I contacted the FBI director to look into it, for I thought it was a national security risk at the highest degree. The FBI director sent in a team with a warrant to seize any and all evidence related to the Superlight project. Brad Hillier, the company CEO, was one step ahead of us and had already moved all key components of the device and associated files and plans.
We have no leads at the moment as too where he and members of his staff are hiding out. I would like to offer whatever assistance I can, being that this thing was created in my district. I would like to help if I can.
Thank you, Senator. We can use all the help we can get. I want to thank you all again for coming up, and I would like to suggest that each of you consult with your respective departments and get me a letter that lays out your thoughts on how to proceed with this situation.
Please give me something by the end of tomorrow. I will then be better informed on my decisions on how to deal with this issue. Thank you all for coming.
All the attendants stand and stream out of the Oval Office. Ed Bramson hangs back. Mr. President, I had a deep black officer from the Space Force speak to my oversight committee, and she let it be known that she knew about Hilliard before any of this became public.
I have no way of getting to her. But I thought you should know, she may have information regarding Hilliard. Very interesting, Senator.
I will try looking under some rugs. But as you know, I have little authorization over deep black project sites or the people that run them. Please stay in contact, Senator.
Atlan, the home world of the Aetherians, is the seat of the Old Dominion. The large planet sits just outside the massive black hole at the center of the Milky Way galaxy, in a large cluster of stars orbiting the event horizon. The light from all the nearby stars eliminate all darkness.
Every planet in this cluster is lit every hour, all over the globe by multiple stars. Massive bright stars can be seen in every direction. Humans could not exist here, the heat and radiation would evaporate the water in a human body in seconds.
But it's paradise to the Aetherians that dwell here. An indescribable garden, hundreds of millions of vast mansion homes with complex landscaping. There are over 100 planets inhabited by the Aetherians in this sector.
One more beautiful and amazing as the next, Atlan is home to the One. The One walks these gardens from time to time, and abides in a mountain compound known as Shiloe Ahim. Ambassador Lucentel the hand of the One, is an Ark ancestor.
He was with the One long before the Matterverse was spoken into existence. There are a small number of Ark ancestors, as many as 100 are known to live. The Akashe, the Ancient Hall of Records, holds records telling the story of the One and the Ark ancestors alone on Atlan.
The Ark ancestors wanted a family and asked the One to enrich them with sons. The One said he would extract a small spark of himself and release it as a son for each Ark ancestor. Many years later, the Ark ancestors developed the ability to petition the One for new sons and daughters.
The sons and daughters of the Ark ancestors are slightly less powerful than the Ark ancestors. Over billions of years, the eternal Aetherians have multiplied into trillions of beings and lower beings. The lower beings take the form of many exotic creatures that inhabit thousands of planets scattered across the Aetherians' Old Dominion.
Atlan is standing by to receive us, Ambassador, announces the Commander on duty. Please dock and secure the Elo-Eloahim. I would like to travel down to Atlan as soon as possible.
Brad, Nancy, and Walter have finished setting up the superlight in the big lab that Steven and Oscar gave them. Brad, you need to see the footage I shot of you while you were sleeping in the van. The interview I did with your driver, Zia, Nancy says.
What? You interviewed my driver? Brad says surprised. Yes, when you were asleep in the van, Nancy says, as she is cutting up the video footage. Okay, here we go.
Brad is watching the video, riveted by it. He turns it off. Well? Nancy asks. It's nice, I always wanted a daughter, Brad giggles.
I am sorry this shit is so crazy that if I don't laugh, I would cry. We haven't peeled back even one layer of this onion yet, and it's already difficult to keep up with. When I came out here with Archer on his private plane, Captain Carpenter introduced me to her little grey alien friends.
We flew aboard a small silver disc-shaped craft to their home base, that sits out around the rings of Saturn. Nancy looks right at Brad. Stop Brad, are you high right now?.
Brad pauses, don't you remember at lunch, Captain Carpenter said I would bring you up to speed. Well, I am bringing you up to speed right now. Drivers, waterbots, now grey aliens and UFO discs, what's next? Nancy asks with indigence.
Brad says, who knew a high-frequency light designed to see cracks in critical aircraft components and machinery would cause intergalactic turmoil. So as I was saying, my understanding is that the Superlight is a threat to a huge data collecting operation that these high freaks have been doing for eons. High freaks? Walter asks puzzled.
Oh, that's just a name I gave them. They are the beings that inhabit the realm that we see with the Superlight. They function at a super high frequency of light.
Their world is as real as ours, just operating at a higher frequency. Without the advent of the Superlight, we would never know that they are all around us and strewn all across the universe, Brad continues. The high freaks drive avatars or waterbots as Zia calls us, without our knowledge, so they can collect millions of terabytes from hundreds of telemetry points during the lifetime of the avatar.
It seems that the traveler or waterbot is just a spacesuit, be it an advanced one for the high freaks, Brad concludes. So the superlight reveals this relationship to the travelers, and that is what they are concerned about. Follow the money.

JAG CONVICTS D.C. DISTRICT ATTORNEY FOR TREASON. The UNITED STATES NAVY JUDGE ADVOCATE GENERAL'S CORPS CONVICTED U.S. ATTORNEY FOR THE DISTRICT of COLUMBIA MATTHEW GRAVES OF TREASON. GRAVES had VOWED TO REMAIN SILENT BUT ENDED UP SELF-SNITHCHING HIMSELF INTO DEATH SENTENCE. March 24, 2024.
Last week, the United States Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps convicted U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Matthew Graves of treason. Graves had vowed to remain silent but ended up self-snitching himself into a death sentence.
As reported in January, Delta Force operators captured Graves while he was vacationing at a Colorado ski resort. The Deep State pawn was taken to a holding facility and, later, to Guantanamo Bay for intake and interrogation. Predictably, he had refused JAG’s magnanimous plea deal: lifelong imprisonment in exchange for an admission of guilt and the whereabouts of retired and active-duty military personnel allegedly held at secret federal penitentiaries. Graves reportedly told investigators he only meted out the punishment and that if covert prisons existed, Merrick Garland had the coordinates. Then he was all bluff and bluster, saying JAG would eventually incur Biden’s wrath.
Two months of confinement in a six-by-nine-foot cubicle hardened Graves’ resolve, his disdain for all things Trump. He likened Trump to Apollyon, the Destroyer of Revelation 9:11, and MAGA to a destructive swarm of locusts.
“Where Trump goes, destruction follows. He’s the personification of evil, the destroyer,” Graves had said.
As he stepped inside Guantanamo Bay’s south courtroom, flanked by a pair of MPs, he shouted that his only regret in life was his failure to prosecute all “maggot” MAGA patriots in the country and condemn them to life behind bars or an eternity in purgatory.
“Spare us your fantasies, detainee Graves, and have a seat,” Vice Admiral Darse E. Crandall said. “We’ll make this procedure as quick and painful for you as possible.”
The Admiral introduced the panel, three Marine Corps officers whom JAG had empaneled to weigh the evidence against Graves impartially. Nonetheless, their eyes narrowed contemptuously at Graves as he seated himself and announced he would not participate in the tribunal.
“I’ll say now all I’ll say today,” Graves said. “I reject this tribunal. “It is false. I am detained illegally, and there will be retribution.”
“We’re happy you got that off your chest,” Admiral Crandall said.
He then approached the panel. “Detainee Graves, in all his splendor, has boasted about how his vital role in coordinating the nationwide prosecution of over 1,000 J6ers helped make America a safer country. What he never said, and what’s been proven by publicly available video evidence, is that the overwhelming majority of the 1,000 committed no crimes. They practiced their 1st Amendment right to assemble and express views through peaceful protest, the protest of a stolen election. He doesn’t deny these facts; he’s proud of it.”
“Damn right, I am,” Graves blurted. “They got less than they deserved. I wanted them all wired to the chair, trembling and sizzling as they fried. Anyone questioning Biden’s victory should’ve had poison put in their veins or have been electrocuted. And that means all of you! And when I leave here, I will ensure that happens, especially after this.”
“Easy now, detainee Graves. You wouldn’t want to risk your innocence,” Admiral Crandall taunted. You did what you felt was right, of course.”
“You felt their punishments didn’t fit their crimes, didn’t you?” Admiral Crandall goaded.
“That’s right. All of them, just like you all, are domestic terrorists and deserve a life sentence or death. But, no, I couldn’t do that. I was told 22 years maximum for insurrection and, in some cases—probation. D.C. is ours, not theirs, and we had the authority to hunt down those MAGA pukes. MAGA, MAGA, MAGA—I was sick and fucking tired of hearing about MAGA. And that goes for your military traitors, too; you assholes who still support Donald Trump. What is wrong with you people?” Graves said.
“We support the Constitution of the United States, detainee Graves,” the Admiral replied.
“I’ve said enough,” Graves said, but continued his reproval anyway. “The Constitution, the Constitution, the Constitution, that’s all I ever hear you people talk about, your undying devotion to a document that should’ve been burned long ago. We don’t care about your Constitution anymore. It’s a prehistoric fossil written by men who have turned to dust. If I’m gone, someone else will pick up the torch. How many have you killed, Admiral Crandall? You’re a practiced hypocrite.”
The Admiral ordered MPs to restrain and gag Graves. He showed the panel a copy of an email Graves had sent to FBI Director Christopher Wray in April 2021, which highlighted his hatred for and desire to eradicate the “January 6 insurrectionists.” His discursive jeremiad bounced between slandering and defaming President Trump and labeling MAGA a threat to democracy. “Any man or woman over 13 years of age identifying as MAGA should be summarily put to death; any man or woman calling themselves patriots should likewise meet a gas chamber,” Graves wrote.
In one paragraph, he ascribed President Trump’s charisma to witchcraft, saying Trump “put spells” on his friends, family, and supporters.
“It’s more rational than it sounds, Director Wray. Why else would a woman like Melania stay with the buffoon? Why else would half the country bow to him? Yes, they’re all nuts, but there’s more to it. Demonology,” Graves wrote.
“This commission doesn’t recognize insanity or occultism as mechanisms of defense,” Admiral Crandall said. “The facts are clear and indisputable. The detainee knowingly used specious charges to prosecute and jail innocent people. Many of them were federal plants who were prosecuted and released. The Deep State did a very good job obfuscating which were plants, but we also know that many law-abiding citizens remain behind bars. Detainee Graves committed acts of treason, and I ask you panel members to find him guilty of that crime.”
Graves shuddered in his seat, mumbling into the gag.
The panel unanimously delivered a verdict of guilty and recommended the death penalty.
Admiral Crandall assented, and he scheduled Graves’ execution for Tuesday, March 26.
I anticipate having information on Merrick Garland’s tribunal tomorrow.

2024.05.21 15:55 HeheheBlah How is time perceived in Telugu?

I came across this Quora answer for "Why does Kerala Government impose an economically worthless Malayalam in Kerala schools instead of making it as an optional language because a Malayali cannot get lucrative employment by learning Malayalam?" from this post.
This question reminds me of a story of the Roman emperor Vespasian. One day, an inventor visited the emperor and showed him the blueprint of a mechanism that could transport columns and beams to a construction site quickly and without any manual labor. This brilliant machine could've kickstarted industrial revolution 1700 years before it actually happened. But much to the inventor's shock, Vespasian turned him down, saying “my people need jobs, our slaves need jobs. If the machine does all the work, our people will be jobless. Our slaves would get free time to organize themselves and would start revolts”.
Vespasian feared that the new technology was ‘economically worthless', as it would make people and slaves jobless and send the country into total chaos. In short, he was technologically shortsighted. The inability to foresee what technology could bring to his people in the long run pulled him down. He was deluded by the fragile nature of the economy and had no idea how to rebuild it if this revolutionary mechanism would be allowed to operate.
This was the reason why ancient Rome was never industrialized, despite having a lot of excellent inventors and engineers. Those in power were worried about the unemployment a sudden revolutionary idea would create and failed to accept how beneficial this would be for the people in the long run.
The reason for narrating this story is that it is remarkably similar to the dilemma mentioned in the question. Vespasian thought, “allocating resources to inventive technology instead of manual labor is economically worthless since people and slaves won't get lucrative jobs”.
Replace ‘manual labor' by ‘English' and ‘inventive technology' by ‘Malayalam', and you get our question.
“Allocating resources to English instead of Malayalam is economically worthless since people and slaves won't get lucrative jobs”.
Likewise, English persists as the language of official usage for most jobs not because Malayalam is incompetent or inefficient, but because the current ‘system' revolves around English. That makes Malayalam seem like a burden on students, with no economic worth. An engineer who does all his learning from foreign textbooks and uses English terminology has no lucrative use of Malayalam. A software developer who needs to know all computer-related terms in English has no use of Malayalam. The same goes for an accountant, a doctor, a clerk, and pretty much all ‘white collar' jobs you can think of. Even those who might benefit from learning Malayalam like historians or linguists might consider English infinitely more useful since most of the written books and research work on those fields are in English. There is enough reason for people to think that spending government resources for teaching Malayalam is worthless like how Vespasian thought that appreciating technology was worthless.
But time proved Vespasian wrong, although by sheer luck. Christianity replaced Paganism as the dominant religion in Europe. Since slavery is forbidden in Christianity, European kingdoms started banning it. Feudalism and class based labor also started declining as the plague wiped out significant fractions of each class and as the military shifted from armies to professional fighters, thereby weakening the nobility’s hold on power. With the lack of a powerful ruling class to impose and manage heavy manual labor, the stage was finally set for a technological revolution and the industrial revolution finally began in Europe, 1700 years after Vespasian.
Some of you might be doubtful of comparing the case of English vs Malayalam with manual labor vs automated machines. Are they even comparable in the first place?
Industrial revolution made life easier for people because it freed people from the heavy manual labor and made it possible for them to spend more time for their personal development. Likewise, teaching in Malayalam instead of English would make people engage more with their personal and cultural lives. Teaching lessons of science and history in English forbids Malayalis from using them in their lives. This is because these two languages are different at a fundamental level since they belong to two different language families. If you are a Malayalam speaker and you learn science and history in English, it'll be impossible for you to use them in your daily lives because you conceptualize the world around you in completely different ways while you speak or think in these two languages. In linguistics, this changing of cognitive metaphors while using different languages is known as code-switching.
Let me share my own experience. I studied in Malayalam medium in primary and high school. Hence my way of understanding science and history is through Malayalam's (or Dravidian) cognitive metaphors. Those who study in English or other related languages like German, Persian or Hindi would use the Indo-European cognitive metaphors. Once I started reading books in English, I started to realize how different these are.
Let us take time for example.
How an English speaker views time
Speakers of Indo-European languages like English and Hindi conceptualize time as a long line through which you move at a steady rate. Your past is the segment behind you and your future lies in front of you. Time is a one-dimensional straight line in Indo-European languages (the only exceptions are Italic and Hellenic branches. They see time as a growing volume instead of a long line).
This is why these languages describe the duration of events as either “long” or “short”, which represent the length of a line segment.
Consider the statement “I've been waiting for a long time”.
The italicised part, translated into different Indo-European languages would be:
English (Germanic) : “ long time”
Sanskrit (Indo-Aryan) : “dīrghakāla”
Hindi (Indo-Aryan) : “lambi der”
Persian (Iranian) : “moddat zamân tulâni”
Lithuanian (Baltic) : “ilgas laikas”
Irish (Celtic) : “tamall fada”
All those words indicated with bold letters are synonym for “long”. The same could be observed for events with less duration. All these languages use the adjective “short”, just as what you might expect from their way of perceiving time as a horizontal line.
Hence many words describing events associated with time like emotions in these languages are derived from roots that mean “long” or “short”. The English words “longing” (from ‘long') and “hope” (ultimately from Greek ‘kúptō' (to bend forward) ) are examples.
(By the way, there are two slightly different variants of the Indo-European concept of time. This video explains it beautifully with a riddle)
.
How a Malayalam speaker views time
Speakers of Dravidian languages like Malayalam have a much more sophisticated three-dimensional view of time. For Malayalis, the passage of time is vertically upwards, not to the front. Also, time isn't a single line here. Multiple vertical lines of progression of time arise from the two dimensional patches of land. In Malayalam, this two-dimensional ‘area' or patch of time is known as “pāḍu” (പാട്) which literally means “a bounded area” (hence the adjectives like “orupāḍu” and “appāḍe”). Related events that take place at a particular location are visualized as multiple vertical lines growing from that patch. A different place or a different person would be visualized as a different patch with its own vertical growths.
You have to be a Dravidian speaker to fully understand this. Imagine a set of events.
If it is the same event occurring over and over again, it is perceived as looping around a small vertical segment over and over again. In Malayalam language, this corresponds to the adjective ഒത്തിരി (ottiri) - literally “many turns/loops” (root ‘tiru' - turn/spin).
If that set of events represent a growing process or emotion, it is perceived as a line that grows vertically. In Malayalam, the adjective in this case is ഏറെ (ēṟe) - literally “climbing up/ascending” or വളരെ (vaḷare) -literally “growing upwards”.
If those events are concurrent yet different, they are perceived as multiple vertical growths originating from the same patch on the plane. In Malayalam, the adjective is ഒരുപാടു (orupāḍu) - literally “an area of” (‘pāḍu' - a bounded area).
If those events are completely independent, then they exist in different patches and the adjective പല (pala) is used.
In short, a Malayalam speaker has four different ways of translating something like “a long time”, depending on how the person spent that time. If they spent that time by counting sea waves, they might say “ottiri nēram”. If the time was spent, say, by building a sand castle, they might say “ēṟe nēram”, and if they were doing many different things, they might say “orupāḍu nēram”.
This is true in the case of other Dravidian languages as well. For example, in Kannada, the word ಪಿರಿ (piri) - heightened/advanced - (now mostly displaced by the loanword ಬಹಳ (bahaḷa)) would correspond to Malayalam “ēṟe” and ತುಂಬಾ (tumbā) - literally, a crowd of/amassed - would correspond to Malayalam “orupāḍu”. A Kannada speaker would say “bahaḷa samaya” for the time spent for building a sand castle and “tumbā samaya” for the time spent for doing multiple things
(However, in some Dravidian languages, this way of visualizing time has been replaced by the Indo-European linear time because of Sanskrit imperialism. But that is a different story.)
In short, as a Malayalam speaker, I conceptualize my entire life in front of me. My brain visualizes all the places I've been to and the people I've interacted with as different patches (pāḍu), each one having multiple vertical segments that grow or add a new one each time I visit again. However, when I speak or learn in English or Hindi, it is completely changed and I'm forced to visualize time and events to be part of a long line with my past behind me and my future in front of me. This switching of conceptual metaphors is known as code-switching in cognitive linguistics.
This means that I as a bilingual describe an event that happened the day before yesterday as “two days back” in English and “raṇḍụ nāḷ munpu” in Malayalam. Here, “munpu” means “frontside” and back means, backside. For an English speaker, the past lies as the line segment behind them (back), and for a Malayalam speaker, the past is a patch that is much further to the front than the one they are in at present. Notice how the concept of past flips completely with the change of language.
Think of English's concept of time as a long railway track with a train (representing the person) passing through it and Malayalam’s concept of time as a sugarcane field with multiple patches of land having a bunch of upwards growing stems.
The reason for describing all this is to highlight how different the perception of events are in these two languages. And remember that we have considered only time. Nearly all abstract concepts are visualized differently in unrelated languages. A Dravidian’s world is completely different from that of an Indo-European.
Now let us come back to the original question. What happens if a Malayalam speaker is given education only in English? The result is, they could never use the science and history they learn in their personal and cultural lives. Personal and cultural aspects would be pictured in one way and things that they learn at school would be visualized in the other way. This means that all those things would be useful only for earning money or doing research and they would be useless for their personal growth and the cultural development of the society.
In fact, this is exactly what is happening in Kerala now. All those highly educated people conceptualize the world in the Indo-European way thanks to being educated in English or sanskrit-imposed Malayalam while the common people view the world with the classic Dravidian metaphors. This stunts the growth in cultural, political, religious and scientific fileds in Kerala.
Not to mention that English's concept of time is much too simple and inefficient for describing things and when it comes to fields intricately connected to time like history or biological evolution, it often fails miserably. I recently wrote an an answer on how the public perception of evolution is incorrect and horribly misleading. In fact, the visualization of time as a simple long line is one of the reasons for this. This metaphor is much too simple to handle a complex probabilistic theory like evolution.
However, for someone who learned evolution in Malayalam, it would be a much more sophisticated process and it would be easier to visualize it without being misguided. Learning in Malayalam is much more efficient and productive in this case. I consider myself lucky for having had most of my schooling in Malayalam medium thanks to which I routinely apply the things I've learned in all aspects of my life.
So, to summarize,
Malayalam being economically worthless is a reality of the present, but it is not so because Malayalam is inefficient or unproductive in usage. As we saw here, educating in Malayalam is actually necessary for the learned things to be put into practice in life and society. It is just that the current system uses English and a total change would require nothing less than a revolution. Nevertheless, the cost of not educating kids in Malayalam is huge, as it leads to a stagnation in cultural, religious, political, and scientific aspects of Kerala.
--END OF THE ANSWER--
I wanted to share this answer here too and wanted to discuss about its points (specifically how different people view time).
How Telugu language and Telugus view time? Does it differ by dialects? Did Sanskrit influence this part of Telugu? What other things does Telugu perceive in a different manner compared to other languages?
This means that I as a bilingual describe an event that happened the day before yesterday as “two days back” in English and “raṇḍụ nāḷ munpu” in Malayalam. Here, “munpu” means “frontside” and back means, backside.
The only aspect I recognised which I use in Telugu like "rendu dinalu mundu" (Two days ago).

2024.05.21 15:50 freddiemercurial 45 [M4F] UK/Anywhere - I cling, therefore I am

Not necessarily emotionally, but physically. I love hugging and cuddling, and I'll want to attach to you like a limpet attaches itself to a rock. If it's physical shows of affection that you're after, I'm your man.
I’m after the relationship that goes the distance, the one that results in love and, when the time is right, the ‘m word’. I can’t think of anything I look forward to more than spending my life with the woman I love.
I love physical displays of affection, both public and otherwise. Gestures like holding, hugging, etc, are something I adore and would always welcome, especially because I love the excitement and warm feeling that come with being close to the one you love.
The person I am after is someone who is kind and caring, somebody that I can relaxed around. I don’t want the stress of being around someone who gets set off my the smallest thing. My sense of humour is varied, although it can best be described as something of a mix of Chandler Bing (RIP) and Edmund Blackadder.
When we’re together, my ideal night would involve spending our time at home, curled up on the sofa together and watching a film, or playing a game, although I’m not against the occasional day/night out if it’s just the two of us.I watch little in the way of current TV or films, and almost no sport. My main solo hobbies can be found on my friends post.
If we’re apart, as I presume we would be in the early days of our relationship, then, because I game a fair bit, I’d be open to you watching me play something, or vice versa if you game as well. We could also chat while we play our own individual games. We can also watch films, TV, etc, or whatever may bring us closer together.
I’m in the UK, so I would prefer to talk to someone who is also in the UK, as it would make things convenient for the both of us, and it would also make meeting up easier, and I would want to meet up if things progress well. However, I am open to talking to people who are overseas, as long as you’re moving to the UK in the near future, and that the move is, if not set in stone, then is at least guaranteed to happen or to be able to happen. Be aware that I am unable to travel overseas, although not for any nefarious reason.
I’m a vegetarian, though I don’t mind being around meat eaters as long as they’re respectful of how I feel. I don’t drink and, while I’m okay being with someone who does, it won’t work if you’re a person who drinks frequently. I’m non-religious and non-spiritual, and this will never change, and my views are generally what you’d call progressive and liberal. Disparate views are one thing, but if you use terms like ‘PC/PC culture’, ‘liberal’ or ‘woke’ as pejoratives, we will not get along. In addition, I do not smoke and will not be with a smoker.
I’m okay with either private messaging or Reddit chat, though I’d like to move off Reddit once we both feel comfortable doing so. Once we’ve moved to a different platform, exchanging pictures is then also something that would be done once we’re both comfortable, as would voice and video chat, especially because the best way to really get to know someone is through real-time communication.
Your opening message doesn’t have to be that long, just give me something to work with, something that can spark conversation. If you have any questions, queries, posers, then feel free to ask.

2024.05.21 15:44 The_A_Man__ (C)PTSD from watching online videos of police brutality and violence towards women?

Sick p0rn videos wherein dudes slap and punch women concussions are traumatizing, stories of domestic violence are traumatizing, but worse is stranger-violence on women (like the recent NYC trend of black psycho dude(s) punching white women randomly, with legal impunity), but the worst of the worst is police violence toward helpless defenceless women, and boy oh boy is there plenty in that category, and they too have legal impunity.
Makes one physically sick to think of how traumatized these women must have become of law-enforcers, of saying no (punching women if they resist arrest is very legal and encouraged and taugh to all cops as training), of touching strangers, of being drunk in public, of flirting with the wrong dude while drunk, of men in general, and even more sickening is the knowledge that they'd forever be brain-damaged and basically on a set path toward slow and painful death, and the most blood-boiling is the fact that these psychos never face any consequences.
Majority of cops are domestic abusers themselves, in fact, cops were the ones who resisted illegalizing domestic violence in the 80s the most when it was illegalized; majority of cops are psychopaths; there's literally no reason, none, zero, nil, whatsoever, to believe that cops serve the people, neither economical (they get their salaries regardless), nor judicial (cops effectively have impunity), nor moral (only psychos are attracted to job-openings for cops, the way things are).
Likewise, women who feel safe in public, in people's presence, assuming they're there to protect them, are wholly mistaken too; random street assaults on women are very legal, samaritans punished, and chivilry long dead.
Likewise, there's no reason for a woman to feel safe in a domestic setting either, because domestic violence is universally legal too (as in, the punishment for it is a slap of the wrist, if at all), and the numbers haven't changed much; it's still as prevelent as it was before.
Richard Wrangham's work on Chimps and human evol psychology is very disturbing and pessimistic too; there's literally no hope of things ever changing. Democracy is the root cause of all evil, but at least under it, there's the illusion that women are cared for and protected for, at least it sustains the fantasy of women being treated as first class citizens with basic human rights (all a lie); once the democratic house of cards built on fiat-fiasco collapses, like that Iranian girl-reddittor's prophesy, we'd be back to square one, the west would resemble the Islamic states like it did a few centuries ago, feminism would be long dead, feminists witch-hunted, and women would lose all their rights.
Trapped in a cycle of being angry, mad, sad, daydreaming of changing the laws, fixing the mess, realizing that it's never gonna happen, being depressed, feeling helpless, powerless, searching for some silver lining, binging on theoretical back-and-forth arguments, imagining an alternate society, daydreaming of changing the laws and fixing to mess to reach that alternate way of things, only to be depressed again, over and over and over.
If I could I would go undo all these memories, all this online trauma; funny that nude pics and videos are generally censored and blurred all over the internet, spoilers tagged and marked as such too, but these highly disturbing mentally traumatizing videos circulate mainstream freely as though a normal part of life, as though uncensored boobs are more dangerous to society than a sight of a woman punched and knocked out with her nose bleeding! Not surprising; we're descendants of psychopaths; most of kids' cartoon shows are pretty violent and vile too, and these kids are allowed and feel thrilled to watch boxing/wrestling matches, and with all this equal-rights-equal-fights nonsense, watching women knocked out by men is only a natural step forward; a sick desensitized society of psychopaths.
Regret is the worst feeling ever, and helplessness even worse... No way out; none.

2024.05.21 15:36 Witty-Performance-23 I’m done. Almost 10 years of reffing I can’t do it anymore (rant incoming)

I hope this is okay if I make a rant post.
I’ve been reffing for about a decade, started when I was a young teen.
It’s gotten worse and worse especially since COVID.
I ref football, basketball, soccer etc.
First I’d just like to say the pay raises we’ve gotten from all leagues since Covid inflation has been a joke. Small pitiful wage increases, and people are wondering why there’s such a shortage of refs still.
I’m by far the youngest ref most of the time and I don’t think I’ll come back to any of the sports. I’m not wasting this much time for so little pay. The older boomers can do it since they’re already retired. Me? Pay me..
Due to the shortage of refs, I’ll be honest, we do miss a lot of stuff. Most fields are short staffed, or have brand new refs reffing varsity football games week one.
I try my best. I still rewatch games, go over all flags/fouls with my crew, and learn the new rules each year. Etc etc. I really do. But when a field has 3 refs instead of 5, what can I really do? I’m not calling something unless I saw 100% of a foul/flag.
But the abuse has gotten so bad I don’t think I can do it anymore. Pictures/videos being taken of me. Getting threatened and followed to my car. Racial slurs (I’m brown) are not uncommon. Of course I get coaches and parents kicked out but it never ends.
Ever since Covid it’s just so bad. I can’t believe how selfless and mean coaches and parents can be.
Attitudes towards refs from the general public is absurd.
I talk to literally anyone about this and they laugh and just say “make the correct calls and maybe you wouldn’t get abused?”
The public discourse for refs feels like it’s at an all time high.

2024.05.21 15:05 Sol_on_432Hz The matter between my ex and I is going through court now! Now have an AVO BUT… I still have footage of us though and I still find it hot

Has anyone experienced this.
If you refer to my previous posts you’ll see that my ex choked me and I fled to a homeless refuge because I was experiencing abuse from my father too.
Now …. I still have sexual videos of us, which I am 99% sure my ex wouldn’t care about me having. He’s always say things like “it doesn’t matter if you’re married, or if we go 10 years without talking, if I see you in public I’d still f- you”.
But for the sake of my own psyche, I’m not sure how healthy it is to find it attractive. I don’t actively watch them, I haven’t even revisited most of them, I don’t need to because the sheer thought of them turns me on like nothing bad happened.
I don’t want to invalidate this part of me that is turned on by something if no one is at harm (after all, we have an AVO now) but at the same time I don’t know how healthy it is to be turned on by the thought of me having footage of me being sexual with someone who assaulted me.
Has anyone experienced similar feelings?

2024.05.21 15:05 TinyLagoonStudios Marketing tips for gaming hits

What does it take to get a great game to become a success in 2024? We have had a look into the latest charts, analytics and surveys to extract some insights to help decipher how to turn a game into a hit.

Finding your players: who’s in your squad?

The gaming population keeps increasing year by year¹, comprising people from all ages and regions, but how are most players discovering new games? Well, the answer is multifaceted, but luckily we found a survey, published this month, May 2024², to inform us — and yes, this one included non-binary people, a segment of the population you don’t want to ignore in your research! At the top spot, we find YouTube; the most popular and trusted platform to discover games, followed by TikTok. Both are known for their short and long-form video content, as we predicted would be more relevant than ever this year.
But don’t underestimate the power of traditional methods either, as word-of-mouth recommendations, online ads, TV, and in-store and online promotions still play a huge part in the discoverability of games, specifically by helping generate trustworthiness, a key feature of successful marketing. Meanwhile, community hubs like Twitch, Reddit and Discord also have a very crucial role in product sustainability and longevity, as another recent survey³ indicated by stating that approximately 67% of gamers think video games help to build communities and many have established new friendships and even relationships through gaming. Could your game do that too? If you’re new to Reddit or Discord, take a look at our article here for some tips on getting started.
That being said, there’s no need to pick just one platform, as statistics show that people actually use 4 to 5 sources to discover new games. Gone are the days of a one-size-fits-all approach. Today's gamers are a diverse bunch, and understanding their habits is crucial. The key takeaway? A successful marketing strategy should use a multi-platform approach, carefully tailored to your audience.

Internationalisation done well: customising your build

So, we've looked at who your audience is, now it's the turn of localisation. Counting on experts to help you enter a new market and establish trust through a different cultural lens is a strategy that today's top games follow.
Looking at the global charts for 2023⁴ and at the top-selling games from April in the EU⁵, it becomes apparent that localisation is a common thread. Let’s look more specifically at France: almost every single one of the top 20 best-selling console games of 2023⁶ has been localised to French, as well as a number of other languages, including Arabic, as is the case with Assassin's Creed Mirage. This particular title makes a very interesting case study of localisation and culturalisation becoming powerful marketing tools themselves, as well as being key to the game’s experience.
Assassin's Creed Mirage was released with an Arabic dub that wasn't just for show. Praised for its authenticity, the accurate localisation, realistic voice acting and cultural details transported players directly into the bustling streets of 9th-century Baghdad. The localisation team meticulously recreated the cultural atmosphere. From the way the characters addressed each other to the background conversations, everything felt authentic. This commitment to culturalisation not only resonated deeply with Arabic-speaking gamers, but also garnered respect from players worldwide, earning positive reviews and strong engagement for Mirage (as seen in this TikTok example). Consequently, the dedication to localisation and culturalisation not only enhanced the game but also acted as a powerful marketing tool in itself to promote sales.
Talking about TikTok, recent studies also reveal that the most popular games on the platform have been localised into several languages⁷. As a social media platform that prides itself on its international communities, it’s only to be expected this would be the case. In fact, they recently announced that bilingual ads in Spanish and English are even more effective in promoting content on their platform in the US than English-only ads! And, on top of that, they increased consumers’ perception of brands’ trustworthiness⁸.
So what can we learn from looking at a recent unexpected rising star? And yes, we are talking about Helldivers 2! With very little pre-launch marketing, the game quickly became a massive hit throughout Europe⁹ and other regions¹⁰, and it seems to be managing to keep its popularity thanks to its very well-crafted and unique tone of voice. The game's distinct communication style, a blend of dark humour and military jargon, is a key part of its charm. From the hilariously over-the-top mission briefings to the satire-packed and irony-tinted community announcements, their propaganda-inspired marketing, perfectly localised into several languages, keeps players engaged globally.

The final boss: putting it all together

By understanding which platforms your audiences use, their motivations and demographics, and by prioritising localisation to enter different markets, you can significantly increase a game's chances of becoming a global phenomenon. Remember, sometimes it’s the little things, like changing the way you approach new markets, that make a big difference. If you need a partner to help you on your journey, get in touch with us here and our team at Tiny Lagoon will be thrilled to join you.

2024.05.21 15:01 Frauzehel Think

Just want to properly express my thoughts about 🏆 termination and my questions about the things that she said and did.
So the camel's back broke when her latest cover got privated by management. OK I get it she was upset. But tweeting about it the way that she did and telling people publicly to upload it somewhere else is just plain stupid. Her supporters need to understand that. The normal response should have been to tell people that it got privated and she will have to see what happened. You know. Pacify people? But her tweet, as we have seen before had started a drama instead because of how she worded it.
Speaking of. That tweet was the 3rd time she started a drama via her tweets. It's another matter if the drama is contained to herself. But it had always implicated management negatively. Like that tweet that made it sound like she was banned from organizing international tournaments when she actually wasn't.
If I was her boss. I'd fire her too.
Now about that attempt. I am sorry that she had to have that experience. But just because someone attempted to do that thing. It does not automatically make them the innocent victim. That's one of my biggest issue with her supporters. They think she is the correct one because she did that without looking at things objectively. Attempts like that can be done for multiple reasons. Guilt, fear, sadness and even manipulation.
It seems this all happened because she misunderstood her Mananger. Thinking she had the perms for everything when only the audio was approved and not the video. She had taken zero accountability on her part. Instead, she decided to lawyer up and threaten. Yes, threaten the company by doxing the other livers???? Does that look like someone that want to leave on good terms do?
She claims she had been harrased and bullied. But it seems it's all based on the messages she got during the latest debacle. All of her proof was of people inquiring why she made that tweet. I admit I would have felt the pressure if a good amount of my coworkers questioned my actions. But it's in no way the awful situation she described it to be. She had recordings of Vox PRIVATELY complaining. Yet she has no records of these months of bullying? She recorded a random convo where her friend is saying negative things about their workplace in private. Yet she hasn't recorded the harassment?
About that 200k thing. Once again. Her supporters need to question her more. She had 200k Canadian dollars to spend? Where did you guys think that came from? If she failed to have a savings. That's her fault for her own lack of money management. Her cover cost 15k when the usual cost is about half of that. I mean. It's great that she is very generous and dedicated to her fanbase. But it was her own decision to spend her earnings on all those projects. I also remember her story about eating in a Michellin restaurant. She had money to eat at such an expensive restaurant. She is by no means broke.
Now about that statement in Eliras channel. It's funny how everyone of 🏆's supporters think it's them ganging up on her. She lawyered up and accused them of bullying and harassment. They were named in the documents her lawyer sent to 🌈. They were simply defending themselves, as is their right. 🏆 was the one that put them against each other when she accused them of harassment. What was everyone else suppose to do? Just quietly take all the accusations?
I bet most of those people would be like. "Yeah they can't say anything because it's true". If they all decided to just stay quiet.
Or if just one person didn't retweet the stream. You people would have been all over it. You guys also keep claiming they are being forced to lie. Yet with how successful 🏆 is right now. There's no reason for them to be afraid to leave and take her side. Yet every single liver backed that statement up. Heck even the talents that already left, the other people you claim to have been bullied out of the company isn't taking her side. That is pretty telling.

2024.05.21 14:40 Useful-Walrus3996 Please help with a hacked account.

On Sunday my Snapchat account that I don't have access to (haven't used in years) started posting personal videos from my memories 6 years ago onto a public story. the only way Snapchat will allow me to shut this down is by contacting them from the email linked with the account (even when I've provided a crime number!)
The problem is I can't access this account either - I looked on have I been pwned - showed my email has been pasted to 'zeeroq' google search showed this is linked with the dark web?
The only other way I can find that I may possibly be able to get into this account is through getting a code to an old number - I've managed to find 2 SIM cards which one could potentially be the number I need.
I've tried these SIM cards in different iPhones and each time they are not connecting to any network - the phone was a contract phone from 2019 possibly earlier but last used 2021 and had just sat in a draw until now. Any ideas why this isn't working and how I can try to get onto that old SIM card to hopefully receive the code to get on my email and put an end to this Snapchat attack.
Thankyou if you read all this I'm really at a loss what to do!

2024.05.21 14:32 Useful-Walrus3996 Hacked account that I need to access. Please help.

I have unfortunately had my Snapchat account hacked and they have been posting inappropriate videos from my memories onto a public story - Snapchat won't let me do anything without contacting them from the email linked to the account.
The problem is I have tried absolutely everything to get into this account I have lost count of how many times I've emailed outlook and Microsoft for help - they keep asking me to fill in a form stating emails and subject lines etc which I've done the best I can - this email hasn't been used for years! and every time insufficient evidence.
I searched my email on have I been pwned it came up it's been pasted into zeeroq - from a google search this is linked to the dark web?
The only way of me shutting down this Snapchat account is by getting into this email. I've even had a crime number for this and still getting no where! Any ideas anyone?

2024.05.21 14:22 TwoInchTickler Behaviour Change Campaigns

Howdy
I run a whole range of campaigns on behalf of local authorities, local government, and NHS in the UK, and keep coming round to the same question.
What is a decent outcome when you only have access to campaign figures, without societal context?
For example, if we're running a campaign around increasing awareness of breastfeeding facilities in a region, what do I count as a win? The commissioners rarely have budget to carry out an actual evaluation into whether there has been an on-the-street change (increased enquiries, more open perceptions to breastfeeding in public), so I need to rely solely on engagement figures. I can see a high percentage of viewers watch at least three quarters of video content, which suggests its engaging. I can see that we get lots of clicks to the campaign site. However, where I'm always asked to compare it to industry averages, the averages available are generally sales based, which doesn't feel relevant here, and it feels like a copout to compare it to different audiences (for example, the next closest thing I have to compare it to is a 'vaccination in pregnant women' campaign, which comes with all sorts of different preconceptions, so feels like a cheat!)
Another example would be that we've run a campaign exploring consent with youths; we've got loads of engagement and discussion on TikTok, and view ratios are (seemingly) high, but with a goal of 'Make sure kids are talking about this topic' I don't know the best metric to refer to as success for this. Whilst my response is largely "you can't find this out from digital metrics alone, you need to get a representative sample of youths from the region and see if they recall seeing the ads, and have they discussed them at all" the push back from my managers is that I need to hit them with a metric and an industry average. I'm a little stumped!
So, for anyone working in behaviour change/nudge, what are you using to make comparisons for success?
Thanks!
