2024.05.21 20:31 Suitable-Bunch-8751 I'm an alcoholic. I need to stop.

Hi everybody. I (26f) have recently realized I'm an alcoholic. I've had this suspicion for a few weeks now, but there's no way for me to push this aside anymore. I guess this post is just to vent. Maybe to get some support. I don't know, I don't have too many expectations. Using this as a diary entry I guess.
I always loved alcohol. Not the taste of it. In fact, on my first sips I hate the taste. But I like the state of mind it gets me in. Let me say here that I'm a functioning alcoholic. I'm studying for my master's degree and I have a job. I excell in both of them. But every single night and every single day off I spend my time sipping wine. I started with one bottle a day and I'm up to 3-4 bottles of 750ml (= 2.25 liters - 3 liters) every single day now. I'm not miserable with this practice RIGHT NOW. But I know very well that if I continue with this, I'm going to suffer from very serious health issues. This is not okay. I'm functioning during the day, but at night I'm a drunk mess because the wine makes me relax and helps me sleep. Nobody in my environment knows about it. Not my friends, my parents, nor my partner (we don't live together at this point). I want to get dry as soon as possible. I want to take this very seriously. I feel disgusting wasting my life like that at my young age.
This might be a weird request and I know it. But would some of you in here be willing to share some of your "horror" stories with me? Whether it concerns bad behavior, your job, your health, your relationships with your family. I need someone to show me what keeping on with this drinking could mean to me. If anyone wants to participate, I'm thanking you from the bottom of my heart.

2024.05.21 20:29 Apprehensive-Row5876 18M, gambled away all my savings

TL;DR As a high schooler, I lost 1000$ I've been saving up for months, and I have no idea how to get it back
My journey with gambling started when a few months ago I won 5$ on coin flipping with my friends (were all very drunk), and from then on it became a running joke in our group how talented of a gambler I am.
Fast forward a couple of months, I had the idea of trying sports betting (partially because of my love of football, and partially because of my "reputation" as a gambler) just to see if I would have any luck with that. I put 20$ into it, and after a whole day of betting on matches, I ended up with a staggering 1000$ (yeah, early wins are a recipe for disaster), which then I lost just as fast as I earned it. But the harm was already done, it felt as if my huge success couldn't have been due to insane luck alone, but that I somehow cracked the code with my sports expertise. So it was only a couple of days until I added more money to my account trying to win "back" those 1000$ I never really lost anyway, but a string of losses followed and I was already in the negative so now I just had to earn back my money, get to net 0 and leave it forever, except breaking even wasn't that easy as I kept uploading more and more of my money I saved up and earned from my monthly scholarship at my high school. I just gambled away my last 100$ today trying to make up for the other 1000$ I already lost during my 2 month affair with sports betting.
You might come to me and say it's no big price for a lifelong lesson, but at the end of the day I'm still just a high school senior, preparing for college in autumn, living in a relatively poor Eastern European country where this money would be 2 months wages for the average dude. My parents would kill me if they ever found out about what I did to my savings. It's a beautiful thought that I should just come clean to them and they would understand me, but unfortunately that's far from reality. Our family has no bond at all, we are almost like strangers to each other. I could never ever share a problem of mine with them. That's why I felt (and still feel) like I need to earn it back before they could potentially ask me how much I have saved up from months of scholarships and all the previous money I had, and do it in a way that they couldn't track. Taking up some summer job? They would know about my source of income. Borrowing some from my brother? He is just as broke as me, but instead of gambling, he wastes his money on drugs and alcohol. My friends who know about my gambling don't trust me enough with their money (understandably so) to lend me some so I can show my bank account to my parents if they ever asked about it. I think it's at least understandable why I thought that gambling was the only way out of this hole, but in hindsight this plan was doomed to fail. Do you have any advice?

2024.05.21 20:29 Life-Refuse-6670 premonition death dream of myself

I have a lot of crazy dreams, sometimes they’re goofy and everything looks like something out of Alice in wonderland. Sometimes they’re graphic and my dad gets his knees quite literally busted out in front of me. Sometimes they’re so real that the only noticeable difference is weird color or hazy vision. But this one I had on May 17th, 2024 was not like the others and it’s been eating at my daily living for a couple days now. I have a trip planned in August (10th-14th) of this year for my birthday, I already have the plane tickets bought and lodging arrangements in order. In this dream I was flying home from this trip, I was happy and talking to my significant other about how great my birthday was. We spoke in full English, which was odd considering a lot of dreams don’t tend to do this, at least for me. I was reading the signs at the airport, getting to my gate to aboard my flight and so on. We get on the united airplane, and it begins to descend. I feel the push back as it starts to go up and the gravity pulls me against my seat. As it’s going up, it felt like it actually stood still in the air for a moment before it began to fall straight down. There was no warning, no oxygen masks, no one had any idea this was happening. When it crashed I lived through it, I awoke to smoke and fire and alarms going off around me. There was riots, people were screaming and fighting everywhere. There was a familiar sound, the American emergency alert system. It kept repeating itself saying,”the United States has been attacked, we are being invaded. This is not a test.” And my heart sank, I think I passed out again, but this was the only gap in the whole dream. I woke up again in a hotel room. It was extremely clean and I was alone. I rushed to my phone to search for my mom and dad’s contacts, I had to make sure they were okay or at least warn them what had just happened. I was scrolling and scrolling but it felt like I couldn’t find them in my phone, but all of a sudden a huge orange ball passed across my window changing the night sky to look day. I got up and ran to the window to see what it was and then it hit me. The radiation blast, I didn’t even have time to react. I felt the radiation vibrate inside of my skin, it kept rumbling around until what felt like my skin falling off. There was no pain but I started to think (which I do not do in my dreams usually) about the fact I was literally dying. I told myself, “ this is it. I’m finally dying, it’s over. I’m going to see the afterlife.” I was anxious on that thought but then immediately hit with sadness, I am losing my family, I’m dying and I will never see them again. In my next life I won’t remember them. I began to repeat all of their names over and over in hope I would remember them. Within less than a second that all went through my head in this dream. When I finally woke up I reached for my dogs collar, I didn’t think I was really alive. I personally believe in parallel universes and the endless idea that there are many different realities of ourselves out there. Possibly an answer to Deja vu but I’m uncertain.
I reached for her collar to see if it was still pink, because if it had changed color, then it was proof I had somehow changed universes. Yes I realize writing that down it sounds absolutely bonkers, but it was my first thought after waking up from a premonition death of an event that is actually taking place in my life in 3 months. I’m writing this dream down in hopes that someone has had a similar experience, has anyone you know dreamt about their future death? What would you do? Have you ever fully died in your dreams?
To clear some bases: 1. No, nothing in my life has changed this is not a “transition” interpretation dream of death. I’m currently just a college student who plays video games, I literally do not do anything that would be considered a self realization transition. 2. At the risk of sounding insane and stupid, I watched and believe in the final destination movies ideology. If I am to cheat death because I saw my future before it happened, worse death will be upon me. So i am not canceling my trip, but I might have to get some medicine to make me sleep on this damn plane after all this.
I know this is long so if you read through all of this thank you and please give leave a thought. If nothing else, some encouragement that I’m not crazy lol, or if you think I’m crazy, give me a logical explanation and tell me it’s just my brain having anxiety. Honestly, anything will help at this point I’m spiraling.

2024.05.21 20:29 MelSnow3062 [Ep. 27] So...my thoughts of what Ame could/should do.

So near the end– while we only get half of a conversation I'm pretty sure we can come to some conclusions, of which Ame seems to have jumped to immediately. Indri is not an Ally. By the way it sounds, Mirara is the one who wants to end the World's Heart station, and wants it so eagerly that she jumped to it with confidence upon the first meeting.
As Indri mentioned, Mirara in her hastefulness failed to account that Hacaea wouldn't immediately jump to destroy the station of the World's Heart. Or, perhaps less that she wouldn't and more that Hacaea needed rest. She traveled all the way to the North Pole, is very old, and immediately upon arrival jumped into a Conclave Meeting.
But what's most intriguing to me was how malicious Indri was being. Almost as if she wanted the World's Heart station gone even more than Mirara, maybe? From what I can tell, Indri and Mirara are the strongest contenders for wanting the World's Heart to go. Some may say Grimore should be up there but I think their situation is a bit different.
From Ame's insight, the last thing she saw in Grimore before she left was fear. In context, what Grimore mentioned before hand was effectively, "you want all of us to fix your problems but we have our own" and with the idea and emotion of fear behind that, I believe this is an in for Ame to find an ally.
Here me out– I think Grimore's fear about what may be happening within her own station, that she's tagging along with Mirara and Indri's plan. We don't know where this fear stems from, exactly. We can guess for now.
There's a possibility that she's afraid of what the World's Heart station can do, and by extention she's afraid of Ame's latent power of being within her Station. I don't exactly think this is the case– but it's definitely possible.
There's the chance that's Grimore is afraid of any retribution from Mirara and/or Indri for not siding with them (which would explain as to why she immediately jumped with Mirara to try and destroy the station immediately) giving cause for the possibility that Grimore is afraid for her station as well. Almost like, if its not The World's Heart on trial to be destroyed, then
Finally it could be matters within Grimore's domain having turmoil within itself that she is putting on a fierce aggressive face to hide the fact that her station is vulnerable.
So what should Ame do? I think the smartest thing is to go to Grimore and explain that to destroy one station, another must go. And if Mirara and Indri are working together, that leaves Grimore and Hacaea as possible options to be destroyed. I think Ame should try to convince Grimore that her ferocity is a threat to Mirara and Indri, and that if they had a chance to destroy 2 birds with 1 stone, then that makes Grimore the most optimal choice to get rid of. If Ame can convince Grimore that she herself is at risk, all they have to do is keep that knowledge to themselves.
Grimore's passivity in this matter give Ame more of an argumentative edge. The moment everyone starts throwing daggers at each other, fighting that one station is more deserving to be destroyed, then eventually 3 can come together and agree on one to be destroyed with Ame, but if 2 are silent on the matter, resigned that no station should be destroyed; assuming Indri and Mirara wouldn't turn on each other, then unless Hacaea is willing to allow Grimore to be destroyed as wwell, it seems we may have an impass in which all 5 stations will continue.
Hacaea is definitely a wild card still, but it's better than Grimore being a loose cannon, throwing her power and weight around as she seems to want to do. I believe Ame must wrangle her to her side– to show a modicum of control, and suddenly Indri and Mirara lose a strong resource– their "fall guy."

2024.05.21 20:27 we1rdtuesday Doorbell inside (true story)

Doorbell inside (true story)
January 2021, after the retail holiday had ended, it was time for a well-earned vacation. When looking at rentals on Airbnb, I was searching for two things: WiFi and a hot tub in the mountains. I found a lovely one-bedroom, one-bathroom rental off the highway in Idaho Springs.
The travel time was four hours, and we arrived very early for check-in. We were so early that we got to meet the owner and her tiny dog. My guest reviews on the app show that I’m very communicative, and although I have a knack for unexpected delays, this trip was the sole exception.
She was preparing the house for our visit and formally showed us the space. She also provided a home-printed binder booklet of travel/house details and another guestbook for visitors to sign.
She left promptly at our actual check-in time, and the place was ours. It was HOT TUB IN THE SNOW TIME.
The rental had everything you could possibly need to cook. Many appliances were largely unused due to their incredibly specific functions, but they were a nice addition, especially since many rentals skip on cutlery and basic kitchenware.
The roof was especially sloped, making the space seem hexagonal from the outside. A sunroom separates the entrance from the outside, creating an enclosed porch with sliding doors on the left and right walls. The cabin itself was very beautiful. All wood, though I can't speak to the type—just very real and strong authentic carpentry. A functional large brick fireplace is the focal point upon entry into the living space.
There was only one other entrance, which we never used, as it was on the far left side of the house, behind the kitchen, where the path was hidden beneath snow. Nearest the exit is a locked door, which could lead to a basement or a water heater—we never found out. The adjacent door leads to a classically tiled bathroom with a enclosed tub. A huge mirror sits on a slant against the wall of the master bedroom, opposite the door and parallel to a tall window. The internet has taught me to always look behind mirrors and inspect other objects for small filming equipment, but there were none.
We had intended on staying for two nights. That’s all we could afford to take off work with a retail salary. The hot tub was a blessing, and the cabin was near a small town with flea markets and other adventures to explore. However, we never went into the town.
There is a certain irony to a cliché coming true. Of course, the most chilling events didn't unfold at 1 or 2:30, but at 3:05 a.m. It wasn’t a bump or a bear or anything that could make sense—it was a doorbell that sang. Not a simple "ding-dong" that could be slept through, but the entire Westminster chime. I had to Google the song because I never knew the name, only humming it out loud during explanations. It's 15 seconds long, completely unmistakable, and there wasn't a single grandfather clock to blame it on. Ten seconds in, I'm waking up my date to ensure this isn't some exclusive hallucination.
I flood the cabin with lights while they get up and look out of every window and peephole from the inside. No rustling, no figure or animal to be seen, no tracks in the snow. All the doors are already locked, and with no other explanation, it must have been a fluke of some kind.
If it had only been once, maybe it would have been. But at 3:45, an encore of Westminster chimes played.
After some well-deserved rest following two doorbell performances, it was time for a thorough investigation of the premises.
The unused exit door does have a doorbell, but no chime can be heard when pressed. This is the only doorbell on the outside. Inside the sunroom is the only other doorbell, and not only does it start the chime we’ve heard before, but it also has to be pushed in no less than two inches to ring at all.
I was scared after the first and final chime and figured the host might offer a solution—blah blah wiring or something similar. They offered to turn off the doorbell. That’s when my date finally expressed their fears.
“If they turn it off and it happens again, we will have been the idiots that end up in a movie.”
Their fear only made me spiral, but not enough to prevent me from getting one more jump in the hot tub. The host refunded us for the second night since we were checking out early. Not wanting to be alone but not wanting to take a dip, my date waited by the tub while my iPad was in the cabin filming for any activity. The footage is long, and the results didn’t catch anything that I could scrub for.
Did we leave too early? The cabin and the host were both entirely welcoming but the bell was enough of a warning to pack up. I took pictures with time stamps of the second bell ring and might even still be able to recover the nothing footage. This footage and correspondence with the host are on a damaged phone but once its repaired I will update with more evidence. I have the booking details for anyone who wants to know more about the layout: airbnb listing This is the closest I have ever come to the paranormal, it could be fun to go back and get more footage, after all the listing seems active.

You can read The Last Angel here: Be warned, it's decently long, and at its third installment so far. I highly suggest reading it before reading this, or this story will not make sense.
Otherwise, enjoy the story! Thanks again to u/jesterra54 and u/skais01 for beta and checking of work!

What I was doing was risky.
I kept thinking this, as I prepared to spring the idea I worked on. I had Samantha and Carlos look into acquiring a shuttlecraft, for the purposes of infiltrating Aafa. It took a day and a half longer than the UN's initial start date, but I promised them it was worth it. They believed that, and set to work on getting one through their few Venlil resources in the UN. Now that it was in my hands, I was on a trip to Aafa, alone, with no backup or human handlers to my name. They believed I wasn't a flight risk...a mistake on their part, but in a way, I was still performing their goal.
I was still suspicious of Federation governance, even before the humans took stage on the galactic scene. The Sivkit's refugee crisis turnaway, the Krakotl's military extortionate practice, the Federation was full of shady characters who ought to be exposed. I was even working on a source towards what I thought was frivolous and mismanaged Kolshian military spending budgets, but it was interrupted by the human's arrival, and I had set it to the wayside.
Though, neither of those were supposedly leaked by 'me'. Cilany was the one who put it into proper public eye, even if I was her source...
How I wish I could have her here with me, her sharp skill for coercion and interrogation of valuable info in interrogation and interview alike. But the colony she was on was under siege by the Arxur, who struck while the Federation fleet had gone to Earth. All the more fuel for the fire of my suspicions...
I could only hope that Cilany, and by extension the rest of the people there would hold out despite their actions against the humans. None deserved the Arxur thrust upon them.
It would have been far too risky to try and stop by a planet under siege by the Arxur. I would be, at best, blown to smithereens without hesitation, and at worst...eugh...don't think about it, don't think about it!
Plus, I didn't want to give any human assets an idea on my plans currently. I was already going behind their back on this, betraying their trust on this front.
If my hunch is correct, then the Arxur might be coordinating with them, and by extension, feeding info about Federation homeworlds back in their twisted little game. Seeing me pop up in a report would turn heads.
I'm sorry Humanity, but this is for your own good. You cannot trust the Arxur, and the only way we can prevent your manipulation by their Dominion is through convincing a proper attack on them from the Greater Commonwealth.
But now, I found myself on a course to Aafa, alone, all on my lonesome, seeking to do something akin to Noah, but to the most powerful person in the galaxy one-on-one...Nikonus. I felt my ability to pull rank and my reputation would precede me better than the predatory reception of humanity, even though they didn't deserve it. This was a pragmatic decision, not an emotional one…
The trip was not very eventful, roughly [6 days] one way in a ship with as underpowered of a FTL drive as this, but I was trying to sell an infiltration mission, not a courier one. I wouldn't have my claws on anything top-of-the-line for speed in a shuttle. But as my ship hit disruptor fields in-system, and I got a ping from Gunships asking for classic hailing codes, intent to visit, and the like, I sent a message that likely would have shocked their crew.
"This is Captain Sovlin of Federation Fleet Command. I have escaped human custody, and need to request an audience with Nikonus."

I walked the outer rungs of the capital gardens, looking for relief to the mounds of bureaucratic paperwork back in-office. A good walk could clear ones mind of most stresses every now and then, and given the circumstances nowadays, I think a longer one is in order.
The Affliaf blooms are quite vibrant today. That's a good omen, for what it's worth...
With the state of the galaxy in a comprehensive deadlock over what to do with humanity, I had to take to some under-the-table talks with Nishtal's military. While the Kolshian Commonwealth was not publically for humanity's invitation into the Federation, they were clearly vocal that they did not wish for the problem to be removed, so to speak. And so, I had to get my tentacles dirty planting seeds of inspiration to some military leaders in and around the Krakotl Alliance. They, thankfully took the predator threat as seriously as they ought to, and mobilized to rid ourselves of the pests.
It should have simply ended there. Humanity should have been exterminated, status quo restored, the whole cropland tilled. But no, a fleet of twenty-thousand failed to even kill a fledgling space-faring species like humanity! Even with the Venlil Space Corps on their side, the battle should have been a wash! And the worst part, was that the true believers on Venlil Prime were giving me garbage intelligence on the matter.
'A ship of unknown origin swooped in and saved humanity? One that was unheard of up to this point'? No, a wad of ectolan spulk, there was no chance it was humanity keeping something in reserve that could even the tide! They likely were feeding false data to their allies, the manipulative little apes. No, humanity being saved stunk of the Dominion's play, and that was worrisome.
Did Giznel and his lackeys go back on our deal, seeing blood in the water? I knew we groomed a deal out of Betterment that'd give them all the wrong ideas...
Needless to say, I had to now figure out where to start on approaching them and confirming our deal was still on the table, and to cease and desist assistance with humanity at once. If they didn't want to play ball anymore, we'd have to consider some Shadow Fleet excursions to pave a path for a public route to invasion. That would change the whole dynamic of the Federation's control structures, and was absolutely not the path this great galactic Commonwealth should go.
So now, I am stuck in a dilemma. Do I assume Giznel and the Dominion are still in on the deal, and haven't made allies with humanity in the backdrop, or do I take the only opportunity we get, and start mounting an offensive while the Dominion's unprepared.
Decisions, decisions...
Not long into my musings, an aide contacted me over holo-prompt. Odd, I didn't have anything scheduled this soon, and central planning proceedings weren't set to start up again until the following day, what was it?...
"Chief Nikonus. There's been a development on the outer edge of the system. Bulwark Patrol states that a shuttlecraft of Venlil-make warped in, one individual alone on scans. They identified itself as Captain Sovlin, seeking refuge from human captivity."
Oh dear. That's not anything I could have expected. The last thing I need right now is more complications...but that wording...
"Why hasn't he been boarded and processed yet? I am hardly the first authority to come to for a asylum dispute."
"He asked for you specifically, your graciousness. Said to request an audience with utmost urgency."
"Is that so?...Hmm." I am currently free of responsibilities for a solid chunk of time. While I did not know Sovlin personally, his record spoke for himself. If he truly was escaping human custody, it was likely he found something out about them that they shared by accident, not knowing he wasn't loyal to them.
If he's come here for the reason I think he might've, there's a very real chance...
"Send him my way as soon as possible then. He's lucky I can spare an audience now."
...that said opportunity has just walked itself right into my garden.

There was thankfully little fanfare or media attention in bringing my shuttle in. The decision to come alone clearly disarmed their initial worries of human sympathizing or terrorist actions, and soon enough, I found myself amongst an escort of soldiers to Aslou's government district.
I had been to Aafa various times throughout my life. In my tenure as captain, you tend to visit the homeworlds of the larger species at least once in a lifetime, if not several. Most times were not very exciting or noteworthy...but this time, the visit felt downright off.
The gardens were as beautiful as ever, but there were little walking them. The Songbedas were oddly quiet, making an unsettling atmosphere. The population out in the outer and medial rungs of the city split to make way for my escort, as if expecting trouble on their doorstep should they draw attention.
Given what happened with humanity, I wouldn't put it past them. Why is it so...empty?
It was forced to be pushed aside as we finally reached the inner rings of the Capitol Spire. A gleam ran up into the heavens, and a sequence of block outcroppings spun around the structure, green architecture patterns spiraled up and up. It was a beautiful idol of the dedication of megalithic engineering and urban planning of the Kolshian Commonwealth. Under any other circumstances, I would have once felt comfortable walking under its shadow, but now I felt only unease at being in its monolithic shade.
Across from us, not far up the steps leading to the Capitol Spire, was Nikonus and his guards. They were clearly waiting for me. Nikonus looked pleased to see me, somehow. Was there no clear indicator...?
Does he trust my cover?
"Captain Sovlin, your reputation precedes you! I could have sworn you were interred so deep you weren't getting out. Yet, you say you broke out?"
Here goes nothing. Make it believable, Sovlin...
"I...yes, your graciousness. After I was imprisoned on Venlil Prime, the humans kept trying to get me to turn on the Federation. They were convincing, but my loyalties ultimately lie in this government, Chief Nikonus." I put my chest into the last bit of the statement, trying to give emphasis.
He seemed to mull on that for a split second, before he made a gesture to follow him. "We may talk more about your escape inside. I assume what you have meant to say to me is not for public ears?" He glanced about, subtly tilting his head out at the few gathered crowds out and about Aslou's Capitol District. Given how open and flat the area was, with the slightest elevation, you could practically see for [kilometers].
He was right on that. My suspicions would not be for the general public to hear, lest it cause a panic. "Yes. It would not do for the media to run wild with. It could cause unrest."
The Kolshian's eyes seemed to glint at that. "On that, you and I can agree. Come, to my offices." Him and his troop started up the stairs, and I followed soon after, my 'escorts' following closely behind. I could not yet tell whether I was actually in good trust with Chief Nikonus, or whether he was playing up the kindly elder act. Politicians were always shifty like that...
We walked a long way, took several lifts to reach the original Kolshian suites of the Capitol Spire. Passing through halls of elaborate aquatic decor, and indoor habitats, we approached our destination: Chief Nikonus' personal office.
He waved away all but two guards to stand outside the office, as we walked in. As he sat down, and the door closed, the visual look of the Kolshian shifted. His old, elderly demeanor sharpened to a politics-honed edge. The tone of the room felt far more off.
"I hope you know how much your position here is troubling, Sovlin." His voice had none of the kindness it held before. In its place, laid a piercing tone of seriousness. "If I'm anticipating right, you came here with distinctly bad news, given the state of galactic politics and military scuffles. That is...if I can even trust your story at all." He got up from his chair in a way that betrayed none of his age from before, and began to pace.
Or was his earlier light hobbling also just a disarming act?
"I mean really, you mean to tell me you turned yourself in to humanity for 'crimes against sentience', and then go back on your self-inflicted punishment? All so you could come to Aafa to let me know of something I'm already decently certain I know of before you even tell me? Your loyalty in question is a mind game Sovlin. I do not appreciate mind games. You'd best get to your point quickly and succinctly."
There was a chilling quality to that statement. I did not want to see what lied on the end of that thinly veiled threat.
A hitch came to my throat, but I pushed through the discomfort. "I...Chief Nikonus...I do not revoke my feelings about humanity's sentience, but neither do I revoke my faith in the Federation's dream. Despite their predator biology, they are capable of empathy and care for things outside what we'd consider stereotypical predatory behavior. They still deserve a chance at being within the galactic community, of being part of the Federation; no matter what preconceptions are of predators, they are clearly different. But, there's something we distinctly missed about humanity, and I think the Arxur are making an attempt to exploit it."

"You've seen the empathy tests, right?" Sovlin mentioned. Of course I had, it was only the thing that had kept me from having their ambassador Noah shot on the spot, where was he going with this?
"Yes, I have. Are you saying there isn't empathy for them?"
"No, Chief Nikonus. They are just as empathic as before. The problem is in how they use it. If a protective instincts in herbivore's is to block the danger from the person, then a predator's instincts is to remove the danger."
Huh?
"I'm not seeing the problem here, Sovlin. Aggression versus protection is a choice all sentients can make, even if one is uncouth for most herbivores to make."
But my rebuttal didn't shake his look any. No, there was mortification interwoven throughout it still.
"Follow with me here, still. The human's empathic desires to latch onto anything as a companion is an odd case, but a documented one. They are looking for friends among the cosmos, and given the first thing they found was the Venlil, they took to them immediately. When they found the Federation, they too attempted to befriend us. And over the Cradle, despite our best efforts to dissuade them, they were curious of the Arxur too. I would know, I was there."
Hmm, so the humans have been making some attempt at contacting The Dominion. Given their Prophet's Word, and their temperament for predators, they likely would act receptive if given some chance. More fuel to the fire...
I motioned him on further. "They...interrogated a Arxur above the cradle. They told them of how Federation first contact went; how the Arxur were starved by the Federation releasing a bioweapon, and how it lead them into conflict during the uplift."
I walked over to my desk, and sat down. My tentacle hovered over a concealed sidearm underneath the lip, just in case. "And...did you believe what that Arxur said was true, Sovlin?..."
Sovlin sighed in denial. "No, your graciousness...but I'm afraid...the humans do." He shifted uncomfortably in his seat as he talked. "The Arxur have picked up on a weakness we didn't see, Chief Nikonus. Likely due to them being predators themselves. They know humanity is a pack predator, so they're seeking to manipulate the humans onto their side using their empathy."
I brought my tentacles away from the gun while I considered, because this was only meaning one thing.
Those bastards ARE going back on the deal! Sovlin, your loyalty has just saved me a world of hurt...
But before I could get a word in edgewise, he continued. "They are using the empathy the humans latch on with to some effect. Given the choice between a galaxy that shuns and tries to kill their species, and a fellow predator lending a claw in the interim, why would they pick anything but the Arxur? Why wouldn't they pick self-preservation?"
Sovlin looked at me with a worried face. I shared in the worry too, the long-term survival of the Federation was unraveling from the worst case scenario. "The humans might be coaxed into cruelty as bad as the Arxur because of that. We missed how their empathy was their bloodlust. And now the Arxur are here to collect on our mistakes."
This is bad. While we had some agreement beforehand with the Dominion, the human's existence on the galactic stage changes the game. The Dominion would look to seek true control of everything, rather than just playing even with us. The [Prisoner's Dilemma] is broken.
...But there is still a solution. And Sovlin proved himself loyal enough to help with it.
I turned back to him, trying to assuage his worries. "Sovlin, while this is very bad news, there is a solution that the galaxy isn't considering here."
Sovlin piped up. "Yes. We'd need to form an intense first strike on Wriss itself, to devastate the head of their government, and collapse their attempts to indoctrinate humanity. Humanity might protest, but it would be for their own good that the Arxur fails to get their claws on them. From there, we can try to reestablish friendly connections, even as strained and painful as they are..."
Oh, you poor naive fool Sovlin. Don't worry, there is a better way.
I enabled a soundproofing field interladen in the walls of my office, for what came next was sensitive. "Not...quite Captain Sovlin, a good plan, and one that will be considered soon. But...what if I told you, there was a way to remove that fellow predator’ link?..."

2024.05.21 20:27 roland_85 15 Years On & About to Lose It All

Forgive me for any blunders, I don't often create posts on Reddit. I thought I'd share my tale with you guys, and maybe ask a few questions.
I founded my company in 2009 - a small IT Managed Services Provider. We bootstrapped the company (meaning we never took funding / did a funding round) and continue to do so today. There have definitely been times when I wish I had a large line of credit from an investor to draw on, but it's also nice having full control over the company, sans outside influences.
Just before COVID hit we had started to change away from the generic "IT Services" and really concentrate on Cybersecurity - specifically automating the more expensive parts of cyber defense to make it more accessible / affordable to all companies. We've had some really great success in achieving that - for instance, we're able to provide pentration testing (ethical hacking assessments) monthly for $6k per year, versus the industry standard of 20k-50k for a single test every YEAR.
Until COVID hit, we had never done any outbound marketing. I have a co-founder who serves as our CEO/CFO (admin and dollar signs, both things I hate.) At the times when I wanted to spend money on outbound services, it wasn't in the budget or other things were a higher priority.
Now, here I am on the flip side of COVID, with 3 employees left, including myself. I went into COVID with 11 full time employees, not including myself. Several of our large accounts went out of business and we lost a cumulative $400k in annual recurring revenue which is what I'm not sure I'll ever be able to truly recover from.
The last 5-6 months have been spent drinking from a fire hose for outbound marketing. I took out a small personal loan to invest in this area and have had little success. My biggest success has come from Dripify in automating my own LinkedIn Messaging vs paying a vendor to do it. But I'm not getting the sales as quickly as I need to be comfortable and keep the company afloat. I'm happy to answer any questions, etc. and I appreciate any and all insights folks may have.
So I guess I have a few questions:
I definitely have some lessons learned:
It's a weird time, facing the very real possibility of losing my company. Learn from my mistakes, maybe drop some insight if you have it and don't get scared off from starting your own company.

2024.05.21 20:27 SeniorInflation1857 [South Carolina] - company has paper trial what is my best option

Company contesting has paper trail for performance
I have to give a testimony on why I was fired. The company built a paper trial regarding policy's and written warnings, ECT. I was basically laid off because the store under performed last year. New district (our area manager who got demoted last year) manager states were downsizing and labor will decrease. We ran a skeleton crew and when people called out, the supervisors (me) are responsible for the same work load with 3 people on a 5 person job. Our manager still stated we are over on labor ever week even with call outs, and her job is at risk because of underperforming with skeleton crew. I never intended in breaking any policy's. When I got my original written warning it was for a bad flowers in freshness. My second was for leaving a freeze door open on a shift I wasn't running, and i was sent home early that new years. They still told me I was responsible 100% for freshness and everyone gets a freshness warning to show we have to be vigilant in making sure everything is 100%. The second they said it's because we are both supervisors even if I left early it's a temp chain violation and it's a major issue on both of us. I got my final for something that happened 1 1/2 months before and I couldn't even recall even working that specific day. I got my yearly review which said I was doing much better and everything was going well but I still received a poor review due to being written up so much and being on my final. My boss kept saying she tried to talk to the Dsm, but he was getting rid of me. I useu PTO hrs as requested and then a week later after a long shift I was told that was my last day. I filed for unemployment and they contesting..
This is the email I received from dol.
The initial statement you provided is showing as complete, however, possibly due to a technical issue, it can’t be viewed. Please provide a statement regarding why you were terminated. You chose Unsatisfactory Work Performance as the reason for separation. Do you feel you tried your best to do the job? Did you violate a policy? Receive written or verbal warnings?
The employer stated performance was the reason for separation as well. They provided copies of warnings and relevant policy. The final Disciplinary Form statement is provided below for reference.

2024.05.21 20:26 dysoncube Reference guide / ruler concept, could use some critique

I've been working on a ruler to go with my Leuchtturm1917 (size A5). Something to use as a reference to split the page into equally sized boxes. I've seen a few excellent ones online, but they're either a) content rich, or b) easy to read, never both. For example the Moxidori is data rich and affordable, but I think it could be easier to use. Teanbujo's ruler is extremely easy to read, and beautiful, but I think it could use more reference lines. I saw another user's ruler that had a bunch of colored lines just floating in space with no text labels. It was data rich, but half the users in the thread couldn't make heads or tails of it. I can't find the link, but it was an excellent idea. Oh, and while writing this up, I learned the new Leuchtturm Bujo 2 has reference rulers built into the covers. Welp. I might be wasting my time.

Getting to the point, here's my attempt. Each color is dedicated to a certain number of boxes spread across the whole sheet. The green objects shows where to note your lines in order to splits the sheet into 6 equally spaced rows. The other side of the ruler is for the horizontalalignment.

If you're interested in checking it out, you can download a PDF from dropbox here. It's sized 8.5x11 (don't scale your printout, print at 100%). Apologies to anyone more familiar with measurements for a modern era, my country has hitched its wagon to America and all of its freedom units(tm). Luckily, this printout will safely crop for printing at A4. Cut out the ruler shapes as one big square, then fold it in half.

This thing is pretty early in design, but I could use some critique, or just opinions.

2024.05.21 20:26 TheJayBull A Game Recommendation for Visually Impaired Gamers: Starfield

I realize this is a bit late but I wanted to wait for some promised updates to key areas of the game before I gave any opinions or recommendations about the games accessibility. I'm very pleased to finally say I definitely recommend this game for the visually impaired!
At launch there were some tough lighting issues but, while they still aren't perfect, a recent update greatly improved this. In another post on this sub, I went into detail about the importance of HDR and using it correctly and it definitely applies here. There are some contrast issues. The lights and bright areas of the game will almost certainly be overpowering due to the level of overall brightness necessary to view the game as intended. While not unplayable this way it does have its challenges such as reading certain HUD information agains lighter backgrounds or finding people/signs/items in the world when its bright. That being said, it isn't impossible nor game breaking. There is a hand scanner in the game that basically highlights interactable objects, including NPCs and outlines them as well. And with the addition of settlement maps and imroved surface maps, another great update, there are very visible icons showig where shops, objectives, and explorable areas are located clearly. These indicators are also visible using the hand scanner while waking around. Another very important function of the hand scanner is a sort of GPS line showing the exact path you can take to get to your selected objective. This can be a bit finnicky but most of the time it works. I feel it can be taken a step further by adding the ability to set waypoints manually as well as perhaps an option to make it constantly visible, as it disappears after about 10 seconds requiring you to simply close and reopen the scanner to get it back.
Now I'm sure you're wondering how you can play a FPS if you can'r see your enemies very well and the answer is there are MANY tools in this game to help with this. As I mentioned, the hand scanner highlights NPCs. In addition, when an enemy is visible their name, level, and health are plainly visible and, if you're using HDR, very bright. The text size of this and other HUD elements is also able to be increased. Also, there are certain weapon modifications and character skills that literally make enemies glow yellow when you aim at them or they damage you but my best friend is a specific ability that can be found which enables you to highlight all enemies within a certain distance (except robots), even through walls! If that isn't enough, taking a companion with you on your adventures will help. Provide them with a good loadout and they can be extremely dangerous. There are also weapons to suit any play style. If you can't quite nail the aim (there is an aim assist feature), use a heavy weapon that fires high explosives or a melee weapon to get up close and personal. Use skills and item buffs to tailor your character to play to your strengths!
Ship combat is also very accessible and one of my favorite parts of the game when considering the incredible ship building options. Same as on foot, the HUD is very visible in HDR and doesn't use tiny fonts. If aim is an issue here there are auto turrets and homing missiles that literally do the job for you, but you still have to learn the ins and outs of piloting to survive and be effective in swarms. The only issue I've had is in certain instances targets or objectives are directly in front of a star or bright planet and tough to see at all but I'm not sure what can be done about that.
There's an outpost/base building mechanic which, in terms of accessibility, may be the toughest part of the game. Once you start getting more elements built or even multiple outposts, it can be tough to locate these elements to modify or use them. They are highlighted on the hand scanner as normal as well as in the build menu but, at least for me, its more about just remembering where you put them because it just isn't enough. I will go into more detail on this and provide some tips if requested.

2024.05.21 20:25 Comprehensive-Ad9653 Trouble with Serverless Task Billing

Trouble with Serverless Task Billing
Can someone help me understand how to see the billing for serverless tasks? I will provide screenshots and queries for what I am currently seeing. But things aren't adding up.
Here is the billing for all serverless tasks totaling .3 credits
Here is the total execution time of the serverless tasks by warehouse (I think)
The part I'm not understanding is that I clearly have enough execution time to be surpassing ATLEAST 1 single credit (should be much more). But the serverless_task_history says otherwise. This can't be right, but I don't know another way to view this information as these warehouses don't show up in most views. Also, why does serverless_task_history only go back 12 days for me? I know there have been runs before then.

I'd really like to know if:
1) I'm getting underbilled (that'd be sweet)
2) I'm not looking in the right place to see my actual billing from these
3) Snowflake just doesn't have good visibility into serverless task billing (this would be a problem)

2024.05.21 20:25 theoryworksprep *LR Diagnostic Tutoring Sessions*

Hey folks, I had a somewhat-serious accident about a month ago, and—since I do most of our online work—I was worried we weren't going to be able to do our monthly round of pro bono tutoring, but I think we will be able to manage. There will be far fewer slots than usual, but...
We are offering complimentary, diagnostic, one-on-one tutoring sessions for the next week. Space will be very limited, so please sign up only if you plan on attending. We typically offer these sessions once or twice a month as part of our contribution to this sub. You can read firsthand accounts from participants of previous rounds here and here. I hope we can continue this tradition even as our company continues to grow.
Some testimonials…
I read one of these posts last winter after almost a year of self-study, and thought this would be a good opportunity to get an outside perspective on how I was approaching the test...This 2-hour session ended up being more valuable than my entire last month of studying, and changed the way I looked at LR. Even if I hadn't pursued further tutoring with TheoryWorks after that, this session would have changed my entire approach to the exam. [1]
In case you're on the fence, I definitely recommend signing up for one of the diagnostic sessions. I initially thought it would just be a quick 30 minute session, but it was a full hour and a half spent addressing my individual weaknesses based on recent PTs. I really appreciated the degree of focus on my needs instead of just generalized advice. Highly recommend! [2]
I would highly recommend booking a session. I think nobody else offers a free 1-1 tutoring session right now so TheoryWorks Prep really stands out in this way. For those of us, who are looking for a tutor, this is far more useful in seeing how a tutoring session would be like and how they teach. I will likely consider moving forward with TheoryWorks Prep because I think Henrik's focus to detail and strategy of making the test more simpler, is something I need at this stage of my LSAT studying. [3]
Here is the Calendly link to reserve a slot.
If you've attended one of our seminars before, you know we tend to specialize in more advanced test-prep and bring a more sophisticated tool set to the LSAT.
What can you expect from your session?
  1. Tailored Guidance: Receive customized advice and strategic recommendations on how to maximize your study effectiveness, tailored to the unique timeframe and goals of your LSAT prep journey.
  2. Skill Enhancement: Learn a pivotal LSAT skill or concept that will have a direct and measurable impact on your test performance. This key takeaway is designed to offer immediate improvement in your approach to the exam.
  3. Interactive Analysis: Engage in a comprehensive review of your current standing, including an analysis of your strengths and areas for improvement, facilitated by our expert tutors.
  4. The only thing we ask in return is that you agree to review the session in this thread after-the-fact. You can (and should) be as honest as you'd like of course!
  5. Sessions are typically between 1.5 - 2 hours in duration.
Here is the Calendly link again for scheduling a session.
(Also, PSA: Unless we manage to recruit additional (and qualified) full-time tutors/instructors—there are only still three of us here—we will in all likelihood probably discontinue this pro bono initiative after the June 2024 exam.)

FAQ

What is Magic Research 2?
Magic Research 2 is an entirely new game of the same genre as Magic Research: an incremental, text-based, auto-battler RPG with a heavy focus on Magic. Play the role of a rookie wizard with a single ambition: to find or create the Philosopher's Stone, a legendary magical item that is said to be able to cure any illness. As you do so, you will learn more than you ever imagined about Magic and about the world around you. What kinds of adventures await you?
Magic Research 2 is a premium game - no ads or IAP. You pay once and you get the full game. The free demo contains the first 4 to 8 hours of the full game, and the progress can be easily transferred to the full game if you decide to purchase it, so if you're feeling unsure you can give it a try!
What is Magic Research?
Magic Research is a premium, ad-and-IAP-free, cross-platform, text-based incremental RPG about magic, released in 2023. The free web demo is a good starting point if you have never tried it, and the full game is released on Android, iOS and Steam (Windows).
Magic Research is a separate game from Magic Research 2. If you enjoyed one of them, chances are you will enjoy the other one.
How do I transfer my demo progress to the full game?
This will depend on your platform.
If you played the demo on Steam and are also playing the full game on Steam: The progress should transfer automatically. You may want to open the demo one last time, go to Options, then export your save data by using "Save to file" just in case something odd happens.
In all other cases: Open the demo and export your save data by using "Save to file". Then open the full version of the game, and at the bottom you should get a prompt to import the save data from the demo.
Has anything changed since the initial release of the Demo version? Is there further development planned?
The Demo version has gotten an update, version 1.1, that tried to address several things. Among those are the addition of a "Quick Channeling" option to try and reduce the amount of presses needed for this common task.
An update, version 1.2, is planned shortly after launch. This is a much more substantial update with two new Storylines, which bring the total to 127, as well as many more quality-of-life features and improvements. It also includes an experimental setting for an alternative implementation for Land. The full version will release with 1.2 on the Steam beta channel, and the Android version will get it soon after release on the beta as well.
After this update is released, development will most likely be centered on feedback from players for a bit as I try and improve the experience.
Can you play Magic Research 2 in languages other than English?
Although the game has a system in place to support translations, none have been made so far. Because of the sheer size of the script (more than 4000+ strings, estimating 70K+ words), it would be out of budget to commission a professional translation, so instead I'm opening up the strings file to crowd-translation efforts. There is a GitHub project: https://github.com/mcolotto/magic-research-2-translations with the base translation file and some details / instructions; if you'd like to try to translate Magic Research 2, there is a guide in the repository. Note that this file obviously has spoilers for the entire game! You might want to finish the game first; you have been warned!
How is support for screen readers?
I have personally tested the game using VoiceOver on iOS and NVDA on Windows / Steam.
NVDA on Windows / Steam version: The initial demo launch had some issues with NVDA, several of which are addressed in 1.1. There are still some rough edges, and I'm happy to receive feedback on those. I'm hoping to address those in patches after 1.2. If you are interested in playing, I suggest you play and finish the free demo first; the full game continues on straight from there and will likely work the same way.
VoiceOver on iOS: From the testing I've made personally, the launch version 1.1.0 on iOS should work decently well. In my opinion, it was easier to play with than NVDA on Windows.
TalkBack on Android: This is unsupported, just like with Magic Research 1. I wasn't able to get this to work reasonably at all, as it has horrible delays / lag that essentially make it impossible to use the app. You can try the free demo if you'd like; I wouldn't recommend buying the game until you've finished the demo version. My personal suggestion is: if you have a Windows PC, try the demo on Steam instead as that should work leaps and bounds better than the Android version.
I wanted to add a feature to automatically pause exploration after every attack, but I wasn't able to get to this before launch. As a reminder, you can still do this manually via hotkey on Windows and via Magic Tap on VoiceOver, just like in Magic Research 1. That said, Magic Research 2 does have several features that should help reduce the amount of interaction you need to have during battles, like auto-using pouch items to heal, so it's possible that may make this feature less necessary.

2024.05.21 20:24 BlackFyre2018 Man Or Bear

So this post is for any of my fellow men who don’t get the whole Man Or Bear thing. Want to clear up some stuff as some men might still not understand and also I have some men pushing disinformation about it so want to counter that
When women choose bear they are not saying ALL men are worse then a bear. They know it’s not all men, some even have good men in their lives who they would much rather encounter in a forest then a bear. In the hypothetical it’s a male stranger, and not every man who has ever harmed a woman has made their intentions clear from the get go. Even if chances are the average man wouldn’t do anything women cannot know this just upon encountering a man. And this isn’t just a male stranger on a public street, this is the woods ie an isolated area, no witnesses, could be difficult to find help if they needed it
Also it’s a hypothetical, it’s a tool to get men to be curious as to why the world is so unsafe for women that they would even consider choosing the bear. So try not to get hung up on the superficial message, it’s the meaning behind it which is important
They also know bears can be deadly or even fatal. They know bears have big claws and teeth. But it’s an animal, it’s going to go off its instincts. If a man wants to hurt a woman he’s doing it because he chooses too, there’s no need, and that’s scarier.
The man can also do a wider range of horrible things to a woman then a bear can ie rape, sexual assault, kidnapping. So maybe the quality of negative things a bear varies from opinion to opinion to another but the quantity Definitely leans more towards men
Even if a man doesn’t have a weapon, on average we are bigger and stronger than women, this gives us a greater capability of violence. Even if we choose not too, the capability exists. That’s scary for women, knowing it would be difficult to fight us off if we chose to harm them
And it’s this capability that is one of the reasons why comparing women’s fear of men to something like racism is a false equivalency
And there are things we can do as men to change this. We can call out other men be it in our lives or online, we can spread awareness about women’s issues, we can ask women if there’s any way we can make their lives safer. We can show them that there are men actually hearing what they are saying and want to help. The responsibility should not just fall on women because they are the victims.
Plus, sometimes men are more receptive to ideas when they hear it from a man. We can improve society and because we are capable of it, it is expected
Listen to women when they talk about their lived experiences and their reality. We are never going to fully understand because we don’t live their lives but we can understand more!
So yeah. That’s what Man Or Bear is about. The issue of male violence against women. You want to talk about anything else, make your own post or comment on a relevant one. Show you actually care about the issue, otherwise can just seem like you bringing other issues into it can just seem like someone is trying to derail the conversation or disingenuously to score points
Might do a longer post at some point but hope this post was helpful
If anyone has genuine questions I will try and answer

2024.05.21 20:24 pettyprincesspeach My principal lets parents bully teachers

I have a colleague who consistently gets shit from one parent, no matter the kids grade. They get a 90? Should have been a 100. They get an 80? Clearly, the teacher is blind. They fail? Actually lose their shit. Last semester this parent screamed and threw a stapler at my coworker, which scared her half to death (he’s a bigger man, she’s a smaller woman).
This semester, she refused to meet with him. She told our principal if he wanted to meet, they’d have to meet without her because she didn’t feel safe. The principal told her she would have to be in the meeting, so instead this coworker left early.
My colleague made me look over this kids final project to make sure her grading was objective. It was. I would have given the kid lower, honestly. Within 5 minutes of the grade going in, the parent sent an email demanding a meeting. She politely declined, saying the grade is final. The parent sent a dozen emails in the following hour. Then, the parent showed up to campus yelling and refusing to leave without meeting her.
Our principal told her that she has to be in this meeting. I’m sure they’re going to make her change this grade. Earlier today she told me she should just send an email to parents saying “what grade do you want your kid to have? I’ll just put that instead, since it doesn’t matter.”
This is the same principal who made her give a kid an 80% on a test he ADMITTED TO CHEATING ON, and was caught on video cheating because “it’s punishing him 3 times by giving him a conduct point, not letting him retake, AND giving him a zero and that’s just not fair.”
3 more days.

What is similar / different between Magic Research and Magic Research 2?
Magic Research 2 shares some of the core features with Magic Research, such as the concept of researching or studying magic to learn new spells, or the battle system in Exploration. It also shares the same base UI, as it was built using the first game as a base.
However, it is an entirely new game. The story, spells, Storylines, items, enemies, etc. are all completely different and built from scratch, and the game is a little longer. There are also multiple hidden new features that were not present in Magic Research.
But even the shared features are quite different. Spells are organized in Elements instead of Schools. Land is limited, and you need to plan what you want to build. Inventory space is infinite and item creation can be automated. Potions are no longer consumable; instead they are equipment that recharges every combat. The list goes on! The best way to understand the similarities and differences is to play the free demo (see the links in this post).
There is a GitHub repository: https://github.com/mcolotto/magic-research-2-translations with the base translation file and some details / instructions; if you'd like to try to translate Magic Research 2, there is a guide in the repository.
VoiceOver on iOS: From the testing I've made personally, the launch version 1.1 on iOS should work decently well.

2024.05.21 20:23 fluxiansprite Sex and Love Addiction, Limerence, and Sexual Attention Addiction Recovery Meeting for Women and Femme NBs

Thought I'd share about a new recovery meeting happening today, and every Tuesday at 4:30 pm PST for women and femme NBs. We'll be referencing tools to abstain from these addictive behaviors using the SMART Recovery Handbook:
https://smartrecovery.org/toolbox
All the tools are available to check out free here. It's recommended that you have a quick look before the meeting but if you aren't able to and would still like to join you are welcome! To join, just send me a DM for the zoom link.
I assume everyone here knows what sex and love addiction are, but about the other two...:
Limerence is a type of addictive, extremely high dopamine reward kind of infatuation or obsession that typically takes the form of intrusive thoughts. The thoughts then inform our actions. This group focusses on problematic limerence--for example, you are deeply in love with your spouse but your thoughts are uncontrollably drawn towards having crush upon crush on different people. The crushes evolve into intrusive thoughts that serve to numb or distract you from the unpleasant parts of daily life, similar to any other kind of drug. You may feel you are at the risk of cheating, like a compulsion that you don't feel in control of, even though your *true self* doesn't want to cheat.
Sexual attention addiction refers to online or in person addiction to receiving validation for our appearance, beauty, or sexuality. This may take subtle or covert forms. In it's more subtle forms it can be hard to identify: perhaps you feel the need to dress up sexily before a night out so that you know you will turn a lot of heads. Of course, this can simply be a type of lighthearted fun. The addictive aspect might come into play however, if for example someone who was paying attention to you, starts paying attention to your friend instead. You might feel your mood drop significantly, or even feel inexplicably annoyed at your friend for "cutting you off" from that source of dopamine.

2024.05.21 20:23 BIG904 State Of Mind.

"I'm not an activist or an advocate, or a spokesperson or someone on some mission. I like being free to have a point of view. I guess I do have a truth. I have a point of view, but I try not to have an agenda. Again and again and again, I find that if I show up and sit with people and am willing to accept what they offer with an open mind and heart, then people will tell me rather extraordinary things about themselves and the world that they live in. I'm not a reporter-and that's a luxury." -Bourdain
