2024.05.21 14:42 Extrospective From a story perspective, I would think the aliens when badly losing would just start throwing asteroids/kuiper belt objects at Earth & human space infrastructure.

So I haven't played out the game yet in full, Im currently in a hot war around jupiter, so probably just hitting the start of the late game now.
It really seems to me that, once the aliens have reason to believe that their "primary objective" (being vague here to avoid spoilers) has failed, an acceptable alternative to them would be to commit to total war and start strapping engines on small rocky bodies and en mass throwing them at earth and to a lesser extent static space infrastructure like mines.
When I look at my current arsenal. I don't see much that could damage a big dumb rock. I've got phasers, particle beams and plasma which would probably be ineffective. Coilguns might be good at altering trajectory but not much else. There's some sort of shaped nuclear charge weapon that might work, but standard nukes are out. Antimatter weapons would probably work but the space infrastructure for production of that is so fragile and late in the game it would be very vulnerable as well.

I am 20 weeks pregnant and my baby was just diagnosed with spina bifida myelomeningocele L2 last week. The lesion covers her lower lombard region and that’s why they originally thought it was affecting her S1-L5 region. We were hoping for lower so she had higher chance of walking to an extent if I went through with prenatal surgery. She has little movement in her hip bones and at this point looks like no movement below hip bones. Her muscle mass in legs are not developed and from ultrasound her arms looks bigger than her legs. She has clubbed feet that bend inward completely.. She has 10.4mm ventricles and has the banana sign and chari. Doctor said that she might not need a shunt but this is almost a 50/50 chance if I get the prenatal surgery (if I’m a candidate). If we do postnatal surgery the fluid in her brain could increase and will result in shunt after birth so meaning brain surgery and then surgery on the lesion. But my worry is The prenatal surgery will result in all my future pregnancies being c-sections and having each baby a month early. Looking for insight from anyone who has a child who is diagnosed with SB L2 or anyone who has it themselves in L2, how is your overall quality of life? Questions also are, does the lemon shape head go away? How is intelligence level with this level of fluid in brain and how does it change with a shunt, is there anyway to know? If my child is in a wheelchair her whole life, I really want to know how developed she will be mentally… I want her to have a good life if possible but the unknown with her exact circumstances is what is hurting me the most.

Hi everyone. I have a 2-3-year-old male cat (adopted) who recently had a perineal urethrostomy due to crystals in his urine causing an obstruction. It was super sudden and scary. His bladder was in really bad shape, so they also made an incision in his lower stomach to repair it. The vet is a friend of my dad's, so I asked my dad for a favor. The vet then kept my cat so he could check and monitor his bladder and kidney function after the surgery. He took care of my cat for 2 weeks after surgery to make sure his blood work was okay and to then remove his stitches. My cat came home 5 days ago, and there are a few things I'm wondering if any of you have experienced:
  1. He is super wobbly and cannot walk or balance himself. I think he's dealing with some kind of muscle atrophy from not being able to walk for about two weeks. I'm worried about it and am trying to play with him so he can regain his normal balance. It could be the discomfort because of his lower belly being cut, too, but I don't know. Have any of you experienced this?
  2. He has a wound where his new urethral opening is, and it is raw and pink. I still have a cone around him because his rough tongue could make it bleed. The vet said I could take off the cone, and he's healing fine, but I don't see that. It's pink and raw, and I'm just a worried cat mother. The incision on his stomach is fine, healed, and crusted. Nothing is raw there, but his urethral opening is raw and refuses to heal because it keeps getting wet every time he urinates, which I think isn't allowing it to scab. I'm worried about infection, and I don't know if any of this is normal.
Have any of you experienced this, or will any of you please share your experiences with your cats if they've had this surgery? Thank you so much.

96 Speedo not working even after replacing the sensor
Hi, I just replaced the speedo sensor on my bike but the speedometer is still not ticking up from 0mph. On the speedometer, the turn signals, hazard, and neutral work, but the high beams indicator doesn't light up. Not sure where else to look as I just replaced the sensor today and the cables all are in good shape.
I’ve also used multiple methods to try and pull a code but the needle on the speedometer doesn’t move more than 1/8” and the speedometer doesn’t light up. The odometer still reads and the turn signal indicators work so it’s just the actual speedometer and lighting not working
Any ideas?

I am working on a logo and watching a tutorial. We’re adding some area lights in. First picture is mine, second picture is the instructor’s logo in the tutorial. Our viewport shading settings are the same. You can see how her viewport is showing color but mine is colorless. Mine doesn’t have as much color as hers, the front text is like a milky white and the back outline has a pearl material. I included the third picture as it shows the pearl material better.
I can’t really tell if my lighting looks good because the colors aren’t showing properly. This is my fourth day using Blender so any help would be appreciated, thank you!
