Wondering if anyone else has run into the same issue. But long story short, the Pearson OnVue app does not work on my computer (new Macbook Pro) and I don't live close to any testing centers. I have had to cancel 2 scheduled tests now because my computer just keeps failing the network connectivity check, which is absolute BS. It tells me my download speed is like 2 mb/s which isn't fast enough, but it's actually about 50/60 mb/s when I test it online anywhere else. I've troubleshooted a ton and still cannot get this error addressed.
It's driving me crazy tbh. I got off the phone with support and they essentially told me my best bet is to just try doing the test again, running the risk of not getting a refund if my system test fails again at the time of writing the test (they didn't say that explicitly, but said if this happens, I have to go through a lengthy process to get the refund). The second option is to fly to the closest test center... There is no way I am doing that for my CCP cert.
I spent weeks studying only to get shafted by technical difficulties and don't really know what to do. I can't just go to a local library or coffeeshop to use their network since the exam is heavily proctored. To my knowledge, I also can't just use someone else's computer since the access code only applies to one computer...
Anyway, this is really pissing me off. Did not expect this to be a whole thing. Was hoping this would be a smooth process but now it's looking more like I'm just not going to get my cert. Curious if anyone else has had this issue.

| Hey everyone, I am new here. My OS is being installed and it is stuck on 1 hour and 54 minutes remaining for hours by now, so I am wondering if anyone can give me a suggestion what to do next. This is my first macbook pro bought in 2021 and this morning I had an update which I proceeded to install, but the mac was showing a black screen with lit keyboard for nearly an hour. I assume I should have wait more but I have turned it off and when turned on it asked me to recover the OS and I did. So here I am stuck on the install window. Hello, I have a new Macbook Air running Sonoma 14.5 and I've been having issues with Safari not working at all the last few weeks.
I can go to websites fine, but I can't...click anything on websites. No links, no buttons, etc. It happens on ALL websites except for Facebook...which is incredibly weird.
Has anyone had this issue? I've updated my computer, uninstalled/reinstalled Safari, etc.

2024.05.21 14:51 intermission43 How do I undo/delete terminal commands I had entered previously?
Hey everyone, a bit stuck here. I blocked adding new chrome profiles a month or two back, but would like it back now. I have absolutely no idea how to use terminal, so I looked to the internet for solutions (back again haha). I found
this thread and inputted the following command:
"Intermission43@Intermission43s-Macbook-Air ~ % defaults write com.google.Chrome BrowserAddPersonEnabled -bool false"
I honestly can't remember what exactly I did after, but it wasn't working so I messed around with it and tried saving a text file, or something. It eventually ended up working and I was happy.
I have no idea how to reverse it back to the normal thing, so I'm turning to you guys for advice. Any ideas?
I've tried "Intermission43@Intermission43s-Macbook-Air ~ % defaults write com.google.Chrome BrowserAddPersonEnabled -bool true" but that didn't seem to do anything
Edit: I've also tried "Intermission43@Intermission43s-Macbook-Air ~ % rm ~/.bash_history"

Hello,
Im new here but need some help. I just got my new MacBook Pro 2023 model with the m3 chip. But when I play minecraft there is a drop in the fps every 5-10 seconds. It runs perfectly except the lag every 5-10 seconds. My old MacBook Pro from 2017 ran the game worse but without the small lag. Does anyone know how to fix this?

when I run this code in ruby 3.3 I always get [500000, 500000, 500000, 500000, 500000, 500000, 500000, 500000, 500000, 500000]
but if I ran same code in ruby less than 3.3 so ruby 3.2, 3.1, 2.7 I don't get the right result [500000, 500000, 500000, 500000, 500000, 500000, 400000, 500000, 500000, 500000]
to get the right result I have to use mutex.
so my question is what changed in ruby 3.3?
BTW I was following this article

Hey so I got my 2012 MacBook Pro 16gb ram quad core i7 running again with a new logic board. The day I ordered my logic board I also order a M1 Max from Amazon with 64 gb 1tb renewed. Paid about $2200 for it.
The 2012 is having a hard time running my music software. It runs hot and also shuts down from time to time. I thought about using the 2012 for light music production and using my home pc for bigger stuff until I get a newer MacBook.
Basically I’m having a hard time justifying the m1. I don’t need it right now but I’m hesitant on sending it back because I’m worried about how expensive a MacBook Pro with good specs will cost in the next year or two when I will want to upgrade.
What do you think?

- Australia consumer confidence numbers drop 0.3% MOM
- German PPI came 0.2% MOM vs 0.2% expected, in line with last months reading.
- YOY came in at -3.3% slightly below expected value of -3.2%. Came in light which is good for German inflation picture.
- Yellen Speech - no real meaningful comments
- EU balance of trade numbers hit a new yearly high. Points to improving world demand environment.

- SPX: Maintained above 5300, now trading at 5311. Yesterday, touched 5325, before moving lower again. DJI: Trading at 39,813, just below 40k. Opened yesterday above 40k but moved lower on JPM weakness.
- Nasdaq: trading flat at 18,665. Support will now be at around 18,350.
- Ger40: Slightly lower today, at 18,600. Some slight profit taking near the highs.
- HKG50: Moving lower again for 2nd day in a row. Now at 19,240. Yesterday, was at 19,750 at one point. So down 2.7% across yesterday and today.
- Oil - hit 80 yesterday on WTI but was rejected off there. Lower today to 78, down by 1.5%. Back to range bound.
- Gold: Trading at 2418, Support at 2400.
- VIX: After getting crushed to 12 yesterday, bounced up off of there, now higher.

- DOWN 4% AGAIN TODAY ON THIS.

- So we are seeing price wars in AI market.
- JPM says that they will not be increasing buybacks of JPM stock at these prices. Will just continue with previously outlined buyback pace.

- DELL - Citi raises dell price target to 170 from 125. Optimistic they can gain market share more in AI.

- HKG50: Moving lower again for 2nd day in a row. Now at 19,240. Yesterday, was at 19,750 at one point. So down 2.7% across yesterday and today.
- Oil - hit 80 yesterday on WTI but was rejected off there. Lower today to 78, down by 1.5%. Back to range bound.
- Gold: Trading at 2418, Support at 2400.
- VIX: After getting crushed to 12 yesterday, bounced up off of there, now higher.

- SPX: Maintained above 5300, now trading at 5311. Yesterday, touched 5325, before moving lower again. DJI: Trading at 39,813, just below 40k. Opened yesterday above 40k but moved lower on JPM weakness.
- Nasdaq: trading flat at 18,665. Support will now be at around 18,350.
- Ger40: Slightly lower today, at 18,600. Some slight profit taking near the highs.
- HKG50: Moving lower again for 2nd day in a row. Now at 19,240. Yesterday, was at 19,750 at one point. So down 2.7% across yesterday and today.
- Oil - hit 80 yesterday on WTI but was rejected off there. Lower today to 78, down by 1.5%. Back to range bound.
- Gold: Trading at 2418, Support at 2400.
- VIX: After getting crushed to 12 yesterday, bounced up off of there, now higher.
FX:
- DXY moving flat today and yesterday, around 104.5
- Had fallen to 100d moving average after CPI then moved higher, bouncing from there.
- EURUSD positioning still bullish, flat, slightly higher at 1.087
- GBPUSD moving higher again, trading at 1.272

- On Copilot Plus, Neural processor enables new AI features such as recall for a searchable PC memory.
- MSFT estimates 50 million AI PCs will be sold over the next year. Said its rearchitectured Windows 11 is 58% faster than Apple’s MacBook Air.
- MSFT - restructures Windows 11 for better ARM hardware support and AI integration. Introduces prism emulator, launched to improve compatibility with older x86 and x64 apps. MSFT says Prism emulator is 20% faster than previous versions.
- AAPL - Files law suit to overturn $1.8B EU antitrust fine over App Store rules. AAPL is challenging a 1.8B fine.
- MSFT - OpenAI will be sued by Scarlett Johansson for basically copying her voice against her explicit instruction not to.
- TSLA - Tesla shareholder group still not happy with Elon Musk’s $56B pay package. Urged other investors to reject a $56B pay package.
OTHER COMPANIES:
- XPEV higher on their strong earnings
- MACYS higher on improving picture
- LOW - higher on earnings
- Crypto stocks higher on strong Bitcoin performance
- LRCX 10-1 stock split
- PANW lower on eanrings, seems harsh to me. Other crypto names down in sentiment.
- Chinese stocks lower as Hong Kong MARKET down 1.5% today.
- NOVA - Piper Sandler downgrades Sunnova Energy to neutral from overweight, lowered price target to 4.50 from 9. Analyst had upgraded sun nova in December on expectation of lower rates, but rates have stayed high.
- Li - postpones the launch of its all electric SUVs to the first half of 2025, citing inadequate charging stations and other constraints. CEO emphasised the need for sufficient branded charging stations and more display spots.

- DELL - Citi raises dell price target to 170 from 125. Optimistic they can gain market share more in AI.
- JD - announces a proposed offering of $1.5B in convertible senior notes, due 2029. Will use proceeds to repurchase shares and expand overseas business.
- PTON - plans global refinancing to address debt. Secured nearly $1.4B in new credit facilities.
- ASML and TSM said they have measures in place to remotely disable advanced EUV chip making machines if China was to invade Taiwan.
- QCOM - shares were higher yesterday after Several big companies including Dell and MSFT announced AI laptops using Qualcomm’s snapdragon X elite chip. MSFT says these devices will outperform apple MacBook Air M3.

That’s bearish, but also unrealistic. I think there’s less risk now that we are too restrictive, and inflation risks are to upside.

| Hey guys! I had the pleasent surprise to get the following issue and I found nothing similar, thought about making someone's life easier: My company has managed macbooks both I9 and the new M models, on one of the I9 laptops I allowed Internet Sharing from Gatekeeper (OFF by default) and the user could then access "Sharing" as intended, but the window would be empty, completely blank, no message about being managed or an error. After about an hour of checking from different users/ safemode/ DLP uninstalled.. I finally disabled Internet Sharing, rebooted, enabled Sharing once again and rebooted, to find out everything was fixed from that gatekeeper setting alone. Hey guys,
Since the summer update I have a very severe issue that's (at the moment) making Craft almost unusable for me. It's really tricky to troubleshoot but I'll do my best to give as much details as I can below.
What triggers the issue? - My normal workflow is the following:
- Create a document in Craft
- Export it as a Word file
- Someone else edits this Word file
- I open it again and copy + paste the new stuff into the Craft document that I created previously
- ==> ISSUE
What is the issue (important note: These are ALL the symptoms I experienced so far but sometimes I also have SOME of them)?
- I can't create a new line anymore
- When I try to click on something, it jumps to completely random positions
- I can't scroll properly anymore (it moves only a little bit)
- Once it automatically scrolled like 1 mm up and down repeatedly (in a loop) and it was stuck, causing my CPU usage to spike and my MacBook even overheated!
- When closing and re-opening the document, the beginning is completely blank (where normal text should be)
- When I open a document that contains cards, some cards are just blank (even OTHER documents are affected, so not just the one where I pasted the edits)
- When I open a document that contains images, some images are just blank (again, even OTHER documents are affected)
What I think is happening: Based from my testing, my guess would be that some kind of formatting (when copy + pasted from Word) can completely annihilate Craft.
Workaround: - Delete the old document + restart Craft
- So far it SEEMS like when I copy + paste one paragraph at a time (important: with command+option+shift+V), the issue doesn't occur
My wish: Could the devs please have a look at this? I've been using Craft since over 3 years and I love it but this issue is making Craft almost unusable for me at the moment. Thanks!!

2024.05.21 13:29 Tetratonix How should I approach teaching computer science on Linux machines?
My job is managing a computer science program, and this summer I am leading an Intro to Python course. I've also been tasked with purchasing new laptops for the course - something powerful enough to run VSCode and simple Jupyter Notebooks with OpenCV and a live camera connection running. All of our current computers are Windows 11 machines, but it seems like the industry standard is Mac and Linux (I use a Macbook myself). Purchasing MacBooks for the students is likely out of budget, so I'm considering switching the course to Linux machines.
I have only a little experience with Linux, using it as my development environment on a software engineering co-op. How should I go about teaching computer science on Linux? What resources would you recommend? I would love to get my students comfortable with the command line as a skill they can put on their resumes. Recommendations for laptops would also be appreciated.
