Watching Cat roast Edwina was pure GOLD

2024.05.05 15:59 annnnamal877 Watching Cat roast Edwina was pure GOLD

Doing a rewatch of DC on peacock and felt compelled to share. I haven’t been a big fan of Cat’s, she’s come across rude and pretentious. She’s so enamored by George Bush and couldn’t separate his person from his policy, recognize her privilege etc. I’ve been annoyed with her.
BUT OMG IM CACKLING at her going to lunch with conservative lobbyist Edwina. At tea she just goes on this unstoppable diatribe about how wrong it is we don’t have free healthcare in the US and just becomes this person Edwina can’t handle. Watching her become increasingly uncomfortable trying to defend Sarah Palin was gold. The whole thing was hilarious. Stonewalling rudeness for good.

2024.04.11 08:13 ebisho Republicans on average are more informed than Democrats and on average have a higher IQ than Democrats, according to the research.

Pew research in 2012 (which is not that long ago) showed that Republicans are more informed than Democrats. You can see this in the section "Partisan Differences in Knowledge" in this article: https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2012/04/11/what-the-public-knows-about-the-political-parties/#partisan-differences-in-knowledge. Not only did "Republicans fare substantially better than Democrats on several questions in the survey," Pew says, but that's "typically the case in surveys about political knowledge." Republicans answered 12.6 of 17 questions correctly, versus 11.4 for Democrats, and Democrats only outperformed the GOP respondents on one policy question.
In addition to being more knowledgeable than Democrats, Republicans also have a higher IQ. A social scientist named Noah Carl found that Republicans have a verbal IQ 2-5 points greater than Democrats. In the abstract of his research paper he says: " ... I find that individuals who identify as Republican have slightly higher verbal intelligence than those who identify as Democrat (2–5 IQ points), and that individuals who supported the Republican Party in elections have slightly higher verbal intelligence than those who supported the Democratic Party (2 IQ points)." You can find his paper at https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0160289614000373.
I also want to mention how the research also shows that social conservatives (those that oppose abortion, oppose gay rights, and oppose secularism) have a lower IQ than those who are socially liberal (those who support abortion rights, support gay rights, and support secularism). So, the religious zealots are on the dumber side of the Republican party, but they are not the whole Republican party. There are socially liberal Republicans who believe in free markets, and they are called classical liberals. And so, as Noah Carl puts it, "My findings suggest that higher intelligence among classically liberal Republicans compensates for lower intelligence among socially conservative Republicans."
I think this is all significant because it plays into important public perceptions of the respective political parties we have in the United States. Many people are disposed to vote for Democrats because it is perceived that Republicans are the stupid party. If one were to base their political beliefs on late-night shows or left-wing media sources, they would no doubt come away with the conclusion that the Republicans are the stupid party. But the reality is that Republican voters generally know more about policy and are better able to think critically through issues (assuming that verbal intelligence translates into better critical thinking). Think about that the next time you hear someone insult MAGA voters, Republican voters, Sarah Palin sympathizers, or George W. Bush sympathizers.

How does it work?
Each day, I'll reshare this board. With each day is a new letter (for example, Day 1 (Today) is A, Day 2 (Tomorrow) is B, Day 3 is C etc.). Similarly to past games u/IndigoWolf4711 has done like Dances of the Seasons and The Pros' Most Memorable Dances, for every day, you can all comment a response of your favorite contestant in that letter, going by their first name. If you have more than one favorite in a particular letter, make a new comment for each contestant. If someone has already posted your favorite contestant, upvote their comment! Before I post the next list, I'll check the results and update the list when I share for the next day!
Every reason for someone being your favorite is valid! Maybe they were the best in their season! Maybe you liked someone's personality! Maybe you just thought someone was hot! THAT'S ALL OKAY! Feel free to thirst in the comments if you want to, we don't judge!
Oh... since Xochitl, Zendaya and Olivia are the only people with their first initials, they're the automatic winners of X, Z and O. A WINNER IS THEY. And since there have been no contestants with Q, U or Y, I'll be skipping those days as well.

Today's letter is B

2024.02.21 17:55 MeghanClickYourHeels The 50 Worst Decisions in the Past 50 Years of American Politics: These are the historic blunders, scandals, machinations, and lies that have defined our times, by Andy Greene, Rolling Stone

January 22, 2024. Metered paywall.
https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-lists/worst-decisions-american-politics-1974-2024-1234940313/
When superstar musicians, Hollywood titans, and television power brokers make dumb decisions, the results are pretty negligible. We wind up with a free U2 album on our iPhone, an unfulfilling conclusion to the Godfather saga, or The Brady Bunch Variety Hour.
But when politicians make dumb decisions, the results are quite a bit more serious. If the political ruling class had just a little more sense, we might live in a world where Al Gore was president, Sarah Palin never became a national figure, and Donald Trump remained nothing more than a crooked real estate developer and reality-show host. And since we’re headed into a wild political year where anything feels terrifyingly possible, we’ve assembled a list of the 50 dumbest political decisions of the past 50 years.
We honed it down to the most disastrous gaffes, the most ruinous career-destroying scandals, the bone-headed miscalculations that drove enitre administrations into a ditch, and the strategic blunders that turned hopeful candidates into national punchlines (What up, Ron DeSantis?).
Obviously a list like this has to come with some major caveats. We focused strictly on political blunders, not policy mistakes. That means we aren’t talking about bad legislation like the Defense of Marriage Act or the 1994 crime bill, ill-advised domestic initiatives like the War on Drugs, or foreign-policy fiascos like the invasion of Iraq. We’re instead cataloging stupid machinations, lies, triangulations, acts of hubris, campaign screwups, PR debacles, and epic personal failings.
When ranking our selections, we tried to balance out the sheer stupidity of the decision with the impact it had on the country. Obscure figures like Todd Akin and Rod Blagojevich made the list for saying catastrophically dumb things that shredded their reputations and careers forever, but we didn’t rank them very high because the impact of their stupidity wasn’t that widespread. The top spots were saved for monumentally moronic decisions that changed the course of history, and truly defined our times
We also limited this list to the past five decades because this year marks the 50th anniversary of Nixon’s resignation during Watergate — what better way to honor the greatest presidential self-own of all time. Watergate should’ve been a wake-up call for our political class to start taking the high road. (Jimmy Carter got elected in 1976 on that very idea.) Instead the opposite happened. The media got more cynical and troll-y, politicians got more craven and opportunistic, and the atmosphere in Washington, D.C., became increasingly combative, venal, and polarized. This got even worse when the 24-hour cable-news cycle and online-takedown era kicked in. In a sense, the past 50 years of U.S. history seems like one massive bad decision. Chances are, it’s only going to get worse during the next 50.

FREE HER! Porn Star Arrested at Matt Rife's Radio City Show
TMZ is reporting that we live in a POLICE STATE and not even HIGH ART THESPIANS are safe from their clutches. Famed actress Lisa Ann, star of the critically acclaimed Who's Nailin' Paylin' and Big Wet Butts 11, was arrested last night after officers claim she looked at her phone during Matt Rife's Radio City Show.
https://preview.redd.it/t4lb1p6k9sgc1.jpg?width=220&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=34c54dd40e88e8ed97565f4e092a3183d77a9687
If looking at your phone during Matt Rife's comedy is a crime, you can call me Al Capone (yawn). It's not like she committed a real crime, like texting during a Patti Lupone show. Lisa was seated second row and was caught futzing with her phone twenty minutes in . Eight ushers swarmed and booted her from the show. Eight Usher's? A Gynecologists' worst nightmare!
Police then escorted her out of the venue and gave her two choices. 5150 hold (72 hour mental health detention) or arrest. An ambulance came while they detained her in cuffs. She was not accepted by the hospital and police again gave her an ultimatum. Either leave without a peep, or go straight to jail. Lisa Ann is just as smart as she looks in those Sarah Palin porn librarian glasses, and opted to get the hell out.
Some narcs who work at the venue have since accused Lisa Ann of acting erratically and having a few alcoholic drinks. I KNOW, SHOCKING BEHAVIOR FOR A COMEDY SHOW PATRON. While most comedy shows have a two drink minimum, it'll take me about 4 to laugh at that tragic himbo's material.
Lisa has no plans to sue (yet), but wants an explanation from the venue or NYPD. Honey, don't hold your breathe. You'll regret this Radio City, in the words of another famous poon peddler, big, mistake, big. HUGE!

2024.01.24 01:35 theosamabahama Why Trump supporters are so loyal - A brief history of Trump voters

I wrote a comment responding to a user on the sub, who asked why Trump voters are so loyal to him. Why they dismiss any criticism as "fake news" and vote for him no matter what, even after all the evidence of what he has said and done. I decided to turn my comment into a post. And I want to preface by saying that I'm not blaming the left or liberals for MAGA. MAGA is responsible for their own beliefs and behaviours. I'm just explaining how the environment and the culture wars affect people's minds.
Edit: I edited the post to add some important stuff that were missing and rewrote some parts to better convey what I originally meant.

A Brief History of Trump voters

The roots
Before Obama got elected, there were already some seeds of Trumpism in the republican party. 9/11 led to an increase in paranoia and islamophobia. There were conspiracy theories that Obama was secretly muslim and that he wasn't a natural born citizen (which Trump himself espoused). At the same time, the disaster of the George W Bush's presidency made republicans turn on the party establishment and become more skeptical of getting involved in foreign wars and of big corporations like banks. John McCain picked Sarah Palin as his VP to appeal to the populist wing of the party.
Demographics, social media and culture wars
But regardless, Obama was elected and America started going through fast demographic, cultural and technological changes in the 2010's. In the same year that America elected their first black president, Christianity also started to decline rapidly, with a 1 percentage point decline of christians as a share of the population every year, while non-religious people grew equally fast. Immigration reached an all time high, comparable to the immigriation of the late 1800s (that also saw anti-immigrant sentiment, with the irish, italians, austrians and chinese).
Smartphones and social media became commonplace, leading to greater exposure of liberals and progressives, a new feminist wave, a rising LGBT movement, BLM and an emergent environmentalist movement, primarly led by the growing millenial generation. 2014 saw the Ferguson riots and gay marriage would be legalized in 2015.
This lead to conservatives feeling under attack and feeling like foreigners in their own country. The Tea Party starts immediately after Obama's inauguration, on January of 2009, leading to big wins for the republicans in the midterms in 2010 and significant change inside the party establishment. The Ron Paul campaign of 2012 had populist influences. Terrorist attacks by ISIS amplifies islamophobia.
Around 2014, a new edgy counterculture of the right started to emerge online, with with figures like Steven Crowder, Ben Shapiro, Milo Yiannopoulos, Paul Joseph Watson and Lauren Southern, and trends like SJW memes and Gamergate. It was small and mostly online, but it served as a thermometer of the culture wars.
Erosion of trust in institutions
Journalists, Hollywood, scientists, academia and social media moderators are overwhelmingly liberal and started being more vocal about their beliefs. This lead conservatives to lose trust in institutions, primarily the news, science and experts, which left them vulnerable to paranoia, misinformation, conspiracy theories and moral panics. Which is further amplified by social media.
The defeat of Mitt Romney in 2012 made republicans disatisfied in their own party's establishment for not being combative and right-wing enough.
The Edward Snowden leaks happened in 2013, leading to americans as a whole losing further trust in institutions, this time the government and a three letter agency (the NSA).
Trump gets elected, the culture wars go into full gear
Trump becomes their leader because he says exactly what they are thinking: The media lies; liberals, immigrants and the elites are destroying America; and the republican establishment is not doing what's necessary to stop this. He also brings working class white voters from the midwest into the party by going after free trade and China. He wins the republican nomination and becomes president.
But until 2016, the culture wars were still small in comparison to today. Which is why Donald Trump took people by surprise. His election only accelerated this trend, though. This time, it was liberal America full felt under attack and shifted even further to the left as a reaction.
The MeToo movement started in 2017. Minority representation in news media, movies, shows, and video games increased (DEI came a bit later). The trans movement got visibility. Environmentalist protests took the world by storm. The twitter and reddit crowd became even more extreme. Deplatforming became a common left-wing strategy. 2020 had the pandemic and BLM protests, it's also the year where "cancel culture" peaked at Google Trends. Moderation of social media became even more "hardline" with misinformation about the pandemic and the election roaming.
Brands also start to take part in the culture wars. Adopting rainbows in their logos during pride month, a black logo during the BLM protests, Disney with LGBT characters, as well as a variety of advertisements (Pepsi, Gillette, Budlight). This made republicans, who have always been more pro-business, lose trust in corporations as well. Add another institution that Trump voters lost trust in (corporations).
The liberal existential threat and the psychology of Trump as saviour
Now Trump voters start seeing liberal America as an existential threat and so hang on to authority figures to protect them. Trump is this figure because he is the one who is saying what they want to hear (and also because he was the president during that time, so he becomes the standard leader). They can't abandon Trump because of the crazy and illegal stuff he does, because that would mean letting Democrats win and surrendering to the liberal existential threat. This is why Trump says "If you don't vote, we are not gonna have a country anymore".
But admitting to themselves they wasted years of their lives (and possibly fought with friends and families) to support a racist crazy criminal would be too painful to them (sunken cost fallacy) and they would lose the community and purpose they've found with MAGA. So instead they convince themselves that every criticism of Trump is a lie or fake news (cognitive dissonance).
The Big Lie that Trump won in 2020 was genius, because it prevented Trump from being seen as a loser and it only turned him into a victim in his followers eyes. It further amplifies the fear of the liberal threat ("the elites even took over the elections!") which keeps them on his side. And it justifies anti-democratic measures as a way to preserve democracy ("because the Democrats are the ones cheating!"). The 2025 project of firing 50,000 federal workers is seen by Trump supporters as a way to take on the "deep state" that sabotaged his presidency while he was in office, instead of what really is: the first steps of a future coup.
This context creates the foundations of a cult: A baseless but unshakable belief of a threat from the outside world and a perfect charismatic authoritarian leader who is the only one who can save us from the threat. And once this mentality has been established, especially when it comes with a community and purpose, it's super hard to break it. Which is why MAGA continues strong even after Trump is out of office.

2024.01.15 17:18 MeghanClickYourHeels Fox News Isn’t A Kingmaker, by Paul Farhi

The Atlantic, January 14, 2023.
https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2024/01/fox-news-donald-trump-ron-desantis/677116/
As the 2024 Republican presidential field began to stir three years ago, Fox News tried to make Ron DeSantis happen. From the week of the 2020 election through February 2021, the network invited DeSantis to appear 113 times, or almost once a day, according to the Tampa Bay Times. In an email uncovered by that newspaper, one Fox producer gushed to a member of DeSantis’s staff, “We see him as the future of the party.”
Maybe, but the future isn’t now. After that early burst of attention, the DeSantis bandwagon never got out of the garage. DeSantis’s national support crested at about 30 percent in early 2023 before slipping to less than half that figure. His presidential campaign will be lucky to survive beyond an expected pounding in tomorrow’s Iowa caucus and further humiliation in the New Hampshire primary. That has much to do with his charisma-free persona and his party’s devotion to Donald Trump, but it also reveals something about Fox’s vaunted power to shape Republican politics—namely, that it’s a myth.
For at least two decades, Fox’s alleged Svengali-like control of Republican voters has been an article of faith among academics and in much of the mainstream media. One 2017 study in the American Economic Review, for example, suggested that Fox alone could explain the entire increase in American political polarization from 2000 to 2008, a stunning conclusion given the complicated dynamics at play among tens of millions of voters. Fox is, of course, indispensable as a platform for Republican candidates and conservative talking points. It has predictably savaged the Democratic candidate in every election since Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes launched the network in 1996. It has also helped promote a smorgasbord of conservative culture-war memes, such as the “War on Christmas,” dubious COVID cures, and attacks on critical race theory. And yet, for all its cultural clout and Nielsen dominance, Fox has never been able to direct the course of Republican electoral politics.
In 2008, Ailes and his network briefly swooned over Mike Huckabee, the genial former governor of Arkansas, an evangelical minister who was perhaps the most conservative candidate in the field. Huckabee won the Iowa caucus in an upset, but his campaign petered out soon after. Republicans instead chose John McCain as their nominee. (Huckabee went on to host a Fox show.) Murdoch went all in on Rick Santorum in 2012 (“Only candidate with genuine big vision for country,” he tweeted at one point); Santorum, a longtime Fox contributor, also won Iowa in an upset, but faded like Huckabee thereafter. Republicans went for Mitt Romney instead. In the interim, Fox tried and failed to resurrect Sarah Palin as a national figure, keeping her on the payroll as a talking head for five years. Even during the Trump boom in the 2016 cycle, Fox was arguably more favorable to Ted Cruz until Cruz finally capitulated, late in the primaries. Only at that point did Fox fully embrace Trump. (The most influential Trump media booster, arguably, was CNN, which turned over enormous blocks of airtime to the flaming spectacles that were his rallies.)
Whichever candidate Fox News might support at the outset of a primary, it reliably comes to support the eventual Republican nominee. This suggests that it’s less a kingmaker than a courtier, pledging support to those already on the throne. Rather than influencing its viewers, it is influenced by them. There is no clearer example of this dynamic than the financial and journalistic debacle that was the Dominion Voting Systems defamation lawsuit. Fox’s parent company paid $787.5 million to settle Dominion’s claims that Fox had smeared the company by alleging that its election hardware had flipped votes from Trump to Joe Biden in 2020. Depositions showed that Fox’s top personalities and executives, including Murdoch, were well aware that Dominion wasn’t at the center of a conspiracy to cheat Trump out of reelection, even as Fox hosts and guests continued to say so on the air.

2016 United States presidential election with my OCs as the five presidential candidates
The POD is that the Bayh-Cellar amendment gets ratified in January 2013, causing the United States' parties to split, which caused all potential 2016 candidates (other than the five eventual ones) to sit out of the race.
Tickets
  • Governor Tom Andrews (C-AL)/Fmr. Governor Sarah Palin (C-AK)
  • Senator Steve Welch (P-OR)/Representative Marcy Kaptur (P-OH)
  • Senator Ed Donnell (GOP-VA)/Governor Nikki Haley (GOP-SC)
  • Senator Todd Edwards (Populist-IA)/Fmr. Representative Gene Taylor (Populist-MS)
  • Senator Jeff Cunningham (FF-TX)/Representative Marsha Blackburn (FF-TN)
A sixth candidate, Florida Attorney General Horace Gordon, was supposed to run as the "No Malarkey" nominee with Jim Webb as his running mate, but eventually dropped out due to low polling numbers.
Cunningham won 5% of the vote, running on an identical platform to the paleoconservative, right-wing populist and George Wallace fan Andrews, outside of trade and foreign policy, where he is hawkish and supports free trade. His best state was Utah, where he finished third, squeezed between the two other right-wing candidates.
Steve Welch is an atheist who believes the existence of any gods is impossible, and it was found he paid for his wife to have an abortion in 1978. In a divisive and negative second round campaign, Andrews was elected by running on tax cuts, tariffs and attacks on his "politically correct" opponent.
Andrews would defeat Bernie Sanders for reelection in 2020, after taking advantage of the breakdown of the two-party system to begin democratic backsliding in the US.

2023.12.06 23:17 The_Cheap_Shot Emo In My 2023 Top 100 Songs

Hey,
I'm sure everyone is tired of hearing about Spotify Wrapped, YT Music Recaps, etc. So I wanted to do a little something different. This year in Emo was huge for me; I made tons of new discoveries, earned newfound respect for old favorites and got into entirely new sounds.
I'm going to list all of the Emo / Emo-Adjacent / Screamo songs in my top 100 this year. I'll let you know the position it's on in the list, the artist, the song title and a brief description. Let me know what Emo songs made it to your most-played songs of 2023!

1 Short Fictions - “Fates Worse than Death Pt. II: Anthroposcene”

-Representing 5th Wave Emo in a big way, Short Fictions really introduced me to the genre-defying nature of newer Emo while also dipping into the sweet sounds that made the Emo Revival of the late 00s-early 10s so special.

2 The Saddest Landscape - “The Temptation That Is You”

-A marquee 00s Screamo band, this is perhaps their most heartwrenching and dramatic piece. Taking the hard-hitting yet melancholy songwriting of early 00s screamo legends, The Saddest Landscape crafted a personal masterpiece with this track.

3 awakebutstillinbed - “opener”

-awakebutstillinbed are 5th Wave Emo trailblazers, combining Punk-tinged Emo with rough Screamo, this dichotomous sound is exemplified in this track perfectly. Shannon’s passionate vocals should be enough to draw in anyone who finds that even remotely interesting.

5 Jawbreaker - “Accident Prone”

-One of the best things I did this past year was dive deep into Second Wave Emo, my knowledge of which was pretty subpar. Back in the day, hating on Jawbreaker for Dear You might have been cool, but the album has aged exceptionally well and is an amazing example of that old-school Pop-Punk / Emo fusion. Find a more fitting track to represent this mid-90s sound than Accident Prone.

7 The Appleseed Cast - “The Page”

-This one is on my sleeping list, so it gets a lot of plays. This song is stripped down but manages to capture that iconic Appleseed Cast atmosphere.

8 Origami Angel - “Greenbelt Station”

-Another off the sleeping playlist, this song removes the frantic and bombastic sound that Origami Angel is known for and lays it all bare in this acoustic track.

9 American Football - “Never Meant”

-The iconic track itself, of course it was going to make an appearance on this list! Irreverant, ironic intro, jazzy / mathy riffs, heart-on-your-sleeve lyrics and vocals, the somber beauty of that last sunset of Summer, no song really brings it all together the way American Football did.

17 see through person - “change your name”

-see through person is another 5th Wave Emo band from Florida, exemplifying the heavy and mathy side of the genre in this absolutely killer track. If you like riffs, distortion and general songwriting chaos, this song is for you!

19 Blowout - “Cents Cents Money Money”

-This track is admittedly more Emo-Adjacent than properly Emo, but damn is this song fun. A driving track with huge melodies, any Emo fan should be able to sink their teeth into this.

22 Carly Cosgrove - “Freddie Benson”

-A very traditional and, dare I say, “safe” Emo track, but it’s got great bones! The melody is strong and the tones are on point. The ending is especially fun and catchy.

23 vs self - “Yesterday By Beatles Or: Imagine By Yoko Ono As Sung By John Lennon”

-vs self is the kind of band brimming with enough potential to front an entire Emo movement. Along with some other contemporaries, such as Party Hats and Knumears, vs self are tearing it up with their brand of Midwest Screamo. If you like passionate vocals, mathy Emo riffs and distorted chord progressions, don’t miss out!

24 Free Throw - “Andy And I, Uh”

-I got to see these guys live this past year! I was also fortunate enough to hear this hidden gem live. It’s one of the bounciest songs in their catalog and the playfulness of the guitar and vocals will have you singing along in no time.

25 Khaki Cuffs - “caffeine cops” - khaki cuffs

-Another relatively simple and safe Emo release from the 5th Wave, but much like Carly Cosgrove, their songwriting fundamentals are solid. If you like Emo tropes, you’ll like Khaki Cuffs.

26 Penfold - “I’ll Take You Everywhere”

-Penfold is a top 10 2nd Wave Emo band and songs like this exemplify just why this band is held in such high regard. The masterful songwriting chops shine through with gloomy atmospheres, excellent quiet-loud dynamics and strong vocal performance.

27 Penfold - “Microchip”

-Everything I said about the last entry applies here. This song comes from Deep Elm Records’ deeply-underappreciated Emo Diaries collection, specifically from the third. To say that this is one of the best tracks ever released on any of those compilations would be an understatement.

28 Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate) - “Keep What You Have Built Up Here”

-I challenge you to find a more passionate, emotional and dramatic Emo Revival track out there, taking everything that was great about the 2nd Wave and creating a poignant, very personal work of art like this. Emo’s hardcore backbone isn’t lost on this band and it drives this melodious beauty forward. If you’re into music as art, no matter your stance on Emo, check this out.

29 Merchant Ships - “Long Term Relationships Were Only Cool When Divorce Wasn't”

-Apparently, I’ve accepted my own challenge and have found a worthy challenger. Jack Senff utilizes a Midwest Screamo approach to making music in Merchant Ships, his voice more exasperated as the track moves forward. As it crescendos, you feel as though you’ve been on this stomach-turning life journey with Jack and the rest of the band.

30 Future Teens - “In Love or Whatever”

-This actually might fall into the category of Emo Pop, but it’s definitely Emo at its core. With this track, we find ourselves on a departure from the previous tracks’ drama and focus inward on the anxieties of getting your life together. If you like simple, catchy Emo, this is for you.

31 Street Smart Cyclist - “Kiss Kitty”

-An excellent little slice of Emo Revival with energetic, twinkly riffs, chaotic rhythms and throaty-vocals, Kiss Kitty is what any punk-leaning Emo band should aspire to sound like. However, this band is one of the poster-children for the “beautiful music, horrible singing” sect of Emo.

32 Algernon Cadwallader - “Look Down (Because The Ground Is Easier To Understand And Doesn't Take So Much Work To Figure Out But I'd Rather Not Know Where I'm Standing And Have An Idea Of What Life's All About)”

-Joining Pre-Revival bands like Look Mexico and Oh My God Elephant in the lonely year of 2006, the insanely-named Algernon Cadwallader released a Kinsella-inspired disasterpiece with strained vocals, jangly riffs and cheeky lyrics. Looking back, this track really helped shape the Emo Revival that was to come.

33 Free Throw - “Randy, I Am the Liquor”

-Probably their most popular song not on Those Days Are Gone, this track showcases Free Throws strengths and their strongest. Riffs on riffs on riffs! Songwriting simplicity! Unbelievably catchy vocals.

34 Michael Cera Palin - “Portrait of a Woman on a Couch With Cats”

-MCP is one of the finest bands of 5th Wave Emo, yet release music so infrequently and in such small doses that their popularity doesn’t seem to make sense! If you’re curious, just listen to this track. With the typical post-ironic irreverance found in newer Emo bands, this band takes what sounded good in Emo Revival tracks and puts a fresh-sounding spin on things. If this band ever decides to take their music-making more seriously, just watch out for their future.

35 Street Smart Cyclist - “Pastor of Muppets”

-Had SSC continued on as a band, we may not have gotten Emo Revival bands like Snowing or Boy Problems, but perhaps that would be made up for by the amazing songs they could have released together. This track is as excellent as the first on this list.

36 Mineral - “Parking Lot”

-Quintessential 2nd Wave Emo, Mineral has the kind of passion and fire that many derided Emo Revivalist bands of the 00s and 10s seemed to lack. Quiet-Loud dynamics are harrowing in this track, leading to a crescendo that’s one of the best moments in Emo history.

37 Foxing - “Rory”

-I secured tickets to the FoxingHotelier full album show and I’m beyond pumped. Foxing is one of those bands I found randomly on the internet a decade ago and they blew me away. Who knew years later, I’d get extremely into Emo and this band would of course be a standout of the genre? Much like the Empire! Empire! And Merchant Ships tracks before, this song is overflowing with emotions and boils over by the end.

38 Business Models - “When You Walked Off”

-A lively punk-influenced Emo song, this track is a quick breeze through the more fun and energetic side of Emo. Pop-punkers should give this a try!

39 On The Might of Princes - “For Meg”

-2nd Wave Emo contemporaries of bands like Mineral and Penfold, On The Might of Princes takes the beloved genre and combines it with Post-Hardcore and Screamo influences, giving them a sound like no other. This track is an epic and showcases the different sides of this band immaculately.

40 City of Caterpillar - “And You're Wondering How a Top Floor Could Replace Heaven”

-After immersing myself in all things Emo the first half of the year, I dug my claws deep into the Screamo / Skramz scene. Having never heard this band before this year, I can confidently say they’re the perfect blend of that chaotic Skramz sound with a brooding Post-Rock atmosphere. However, it differentiates itself from both European and Japanese Post-Rock Screamo in a way you just have to listen for yourself.

41 State Faults - “Wildfires”

-Though in the very same genre as the last band, State Faults’ more straightforward approach is no less messy and discordant. Prepare for a simple but effective audio assault with some of the damndest screaming you’ve ever heard.

43 The One Up Downstairs - “Rememories”

-Mike Kinsella finds himself on this list again, but with this really cool short-lived project that only released a few songs. Nonetheless, the signature jazz-style guitar and vocal delivery from Kinsella is present and accounted for in this snazzy song.

45 Jail Socks - “Parting Words”

-More of that “safer” 5th Wave Emo, Jail Socks still rocks out with this fun and energetic song. If you’re anything like me, this song’s melodies will stay with you long after listening.

46 Father Figure “this is my attempt at an apology”

-Plain and simple, this band is weird. They play Midwest Screamo with strong helpings of Emoviolence and bird screeches. That being said, if that at all sounds appealing to you, this is one of the greatest bands alive. Be prepared to go on a journey with this short song.

47 Topiary Creatures - “Moving Target”

-Another banger from the 5th Wave, this song makes excellent use of synths. The rhythm section tends to get a little mathy and the singer effortlessly exudes melody from every lyric.

48 Free Throw - “Weight On My Chest”

-Damn, I gave this album A LOT of love this year! I was so happy that Free Throw played so many gems from this album at their show. A lot of words I used to describe their previous songs on this list can be applied to this song, yet it’s quite distinct from the former two.

49 Origami Angel - “The Title Track”

-Exemplary genre-defying 5th Wave Emo, Gami Gang combines Math Rock with both pop and hardcore elements somehow to get their unique sound. As you listen to this track, just be aware that there are only two members of this band, and then question how they fill the air with sound so effectively.

50 Cliffdiver - “Lost in IKEA”

-Rhythmically simple with fun guitarwork, Cliffdiver launch forward with a hopeful song in this often-bleak genre. Interestingly, the singer has a much deeper voice than you’re used to when listening to the whine-defined genre.

51 Khaki Cuffs - “wow, college sure is a lot harder the second semester”

-It’s easy to miss, but this song has truly effortless instrumentation, especially in the guitarwork. Some may deem this band a bit generic, but tracks like this show they have a lot of fun ideas that are executed well.

52 Street Smart Cyclist - “Three Lane Cut”

-Okay, maybe you’ve guessed one of my favorite Emo Revival bands by now. If you’re this far in, I think you can tell why, though.

53 William Bonney - “Leather Empire”

-This is another Jack Senff-fronted band on this list, and won’t be the last (spoilers!). Senff continues to define Midwest Screamo, this time with a stronger hardcore edge. Nonetheless, all of the emotion and melody is still here in spades.

54 Jail Socks - “Jake Haplin”

-It’s interesting how many songs are just peoples’ names. Anyway, another fun and catchy track from Jail Socks. Get ready to sing this one out loud at their shows!

55 insignificant other - “un mensaje” -

-Cute Emo-Adjacent stuff with melodic female-fronted vocals, this Emo-Pop piece is guaranteed to have you singing a lyric in Spanish, even if you don’t know one word!

56 On The Might of Princes - “The Water vs. the Anchor”

-This song demonstrates this band’s ability to handle Quiet-Loud dynamics at an expert level, blending that 2nd Wave Emo melody with spastic Post-Hardcore. They’re easily one of the coolest bands I’ve discovered in this genre.

57 Can’t Swim - “Your Clothes”

-This is definitely more Emo-Adjacent Post-Hardcore than anything else, but goddamn, this band rocks. This song is probably my favorite of theirs as it shows off their insane, sincere vocals juxtaposed next to some truly excellent Post-Hardcore.

58 Stars Hollow - “As You Were Before.”

-Another 5th Wave Emo band, another combination of that jangly Algernon-like playfulness with a singer that’s ready to scream his entire throat away. This is a must-listen if you enjoy the twinklies that come with Emo but also enjoy the power of screaming vocals.

59 Empire! Empire! - “How to Make Love Stay”

-Melancholy just isn’t the right word to describe this track, it’s far too cheery of a term. Perhaps funeralesque. In the end, it’s just Emo played at the highest caliber of artistic songwriting. This track contrasts perfectly with the previous mentioned Empire! song. That doesn’t make it any less dramatic and heartbreaking.

60 Dogs on Acid - “Make It Easy”

-If you enjoyed Peter’s voice in Algernon and Business Models, here’s yet another band that he fronted. However, compared to the twinkly fun of Algernon and the Pop-Punk energy of Business Models, this track sounds like a Pinkerton-era Weezer song. Perhaps that makes this track more Emo-Adjacent than anything, but it sure does make me happy (ironically).

61 Caracara - “Better”

-A low-key band of Emo’s 5th Wave, this strong is a strong contender for best song of the wave thus far. This finely-crafted tune takes you on a journey of sorrow and mourning, but with an upliftiing crescendo that feels earned.

62 Tiny Moving Parts - “Always Focused”

-Math Rock fans rejoice! The Holy Riff has blessed us with an appearance on this list. If the Math Rock side of Emo is your favorite thing, this song might just be the best one on here. A memorable guitar hook and some time-signature hopping ensure this one is in the Emo / Math Rock Hall of Fame.

63 Jail Socks - “Poplar Avenue”

-Just more fun! I really listened to the EP a ton this year.

64 Newfound Interest in Connecticut - “Five Years of Work and We Built That Song

-During Emo’s commercial period in the 00s, a small but thriving network of underground Emo artists kept the ethos of the 2nd Wave alive. Among those bands is NIIC, whose track on this list is an utter masterpiece. Putting together 2nd Wave Emo with heavy elements of Post-Rock, the musicianship on display alone should be enough to hook you in. If not, try the bleak atmosphere or the ingenious song structure.

65 Pianos Become the Teeth - “Hiding”

-Pianos is a band that helped me get into Screamo all of those years ago. I was lucky enough to see them in LA with Touche Amore AND La Dispute in the same show. I was never the same again. Anyway, Pianos shifted into a less Screamo-oriented direction with Keep You, but this song acts as a preamble to that sound. There’s still a chilling quality to the songs, but with more melody.

66 Sunny Day Real Estate - “Pillars”

-An apt title for this album, Sunny Day Real Estate are about as close to Emo royalty as you can get. I’ve made attempts in past years to get into them, but I finally got the appeal this past year. Pillars is an iconic track that really needs no introduction. If you like Emo, listen to this song!

67 Free Throw - “Pennsylvania Dutch”

-This is one of their earlier songs, coming out the same year as their debut LP. It definitely has the feel of one of their early songs with raw, stringy guitars. The band really manage a special atmosphere with this track.

68 Algernon Cadwallader - “Casual Discussion In A Dome Between Two Temples”

-More twinkly, angular fun from Algernon. This song makes you feel like you’re living in a fever dream, especially if you listen closely to the lyrics. Regardless, this track is essential to those who love Emo and Emo Revival.

69 Colossal - “The Serious Kind”

-If you love American Football but wished it had slightly more bite to it, then this band will be right up your alley! This Emo track features unique low-register vocals, jazzy instrumentation and the ethos of Punk. Colossal helped keep Underground Emo alive during its commercial peak.

70 Business Models - “Companion Piece”

-More Pop-Punk inspired Emo here with interesting guitar riffs, playful vocal melodies and a very quick runtime.

71 Pool Kids - “That’s Physics, Baby”

-Extremely catchy Emo-Pop styled with Math Rock elements, this is 5th Wave Emo at its best: combining elements from all eras of the genre, including the controversial 3rd Wave. If this is the future of Emo, we as fans are in good hands.

72 Remember Sports - “Stunted”

-Representing the Soft-Grunge side of Emo, Remember Sports breaks Emo down to its core elements with this song, taking what might sound mundane in the hands of lesser musicians and crafting a bleak yet somewhat bouncy atmosphere.

73 Algae Bloom - “Thorns”

-Speaking of stripping Emo to its barest elements, perhaps no band does it better than Algae Bloom. Serene guitar riffs, simplistic, pounding drums and a sad guy who’s screaming his head off characterize this song. For Midwest Screamo fans, this is a must-listen.

74 Boys and Sex - “High Notes”

-A short-lived band that came out of the ashes of Boy Problems, Boys and Sex continue the tradition of solid Midwest Screamo. This song, released with other Emo Revival bands on an underrated split, truly belongs among the greats like Snowing and Algernon. Do not sleep on this song!

75 The Appleseed Cast - “Fight Song”

-One of my favorite tracks of all time, I was so fortunate to see this very song live last year. This song embodies Appleseed Cast’s Post-Rock approach to Emo, with subdued (but passionate) vocals, ethereal guitarwork and truly excellent melodies. One of the true gems of 2000s Emo.

76 My Head in Clouds - “Donut Run”

-It’s a shame this band didn’t release more material. Playing a frantic Midwest Screamo style with stringy guitars and lofi production, this band doesn’t do anything incredibly original but are an extremely solid listen if you like the genre.

77 State Faults - “Cemetary Lights”

-State Faults proves again to be one of the best modern day Screamo artists, this time with a Post-Rock-laden masterpiece that features more frenetic musicianship than their previous entry on this list. An all-out audio assault, you cannot skip this if you like Screamo at all.

78 Midwest Pen Pals - “Movies Like Juno”

-Senff’s final contribution to this list, this earnest song is the most Midwest Emo of his big three bands. This catchy track features a fun-as-Hell guitar riff, so much so that the Based God himself sampled it in one of his songs. If you like Emo Revival stuff, this is going to be up your alley.

79 Pool Kids - “Arm’s Length”

-Contrasting this to the previous track. Arm’s Length is more straightforward but focuses all of its energy on its infectious melodies and unbelievable vocal performance. This song is going to get stuck in your ear, be warned.

80 vs self - “Despair”

-I’m unsure which album this is on, but nonetheless, WOW! Unlike the straightforwardness of the songs on their debut LP, this track is raw, atmospheric and played at a simmering pace. The melancholy is obvious in this one.

81 Slaughter Beach, Dog - “Acolyte”

-Finally a change of pace after tons of heavy hitters. This beautiful song is a romantic ode, best described as the kind of song you’d make up about your wife at 3am on a drunken Saturday night, and I say that in the best way. The acoustic guitar, the whistling and humming, the soft-spoken lyrics, everything about this song comes together to deliver a subdued song that’s filled with emotion.

82 Free Throw - “Hey Ken, Someone Methodically Mushed the Donuts”

-This song conveys a very simple message - regret for having loved someone. This isn’t exactly groundbreaking for the genre, and the structure of the track isn’t anything special, but the slow crescendo to its heartbreaking conclusion is worth quite a few listens.

83 Elliott - “Calm Americans”

-Elliott made a significant contribution to Emo’s Second Wave in its dying days with this album, and this song embodies everything that is good about this band. A unique lead piano flows through this song, accentuating the disparate dynamics and the incredible vocal performance.

84 Free Throw - “Cloud Sick”

-Their final song on this list (I promise), Cloud Sick is definitely among the best of their newer songs from this decade. Catchy Emo riffs, that signature Cory vocal delivery and very memorable hooks define this song.

85 Origami Angel - “Second Best Friend”

-This album was a vital part of the soundtrack to my Summer, and this song in particular is one of the best ones on the mixtape. Origami Angel’s energy remains unmatched and their catchiness is on a new level.

86 Charmer - “Topanga Lawrence”

-This spirited Emo song is just good fun! It’s a deceptively simple and catchy song with all of the ethos you’d expect in a great Emo track.

87 Proper. - “Curtain’s Down! Throw in the Towel”

-Proper. positions themselves in Emo’s 5th Wave, drawing a lot of influence from Punk to deliver sincere and confessional Emo. As the track drives forward, you’ll notice the melodic guitar riffs and blistering lyrical delivery.

88 Foxing - “The Medic”

-Pain. This album is pain, and this song is no exception. With an overwhelmingly powerful vocal delivery, the rest of the band actually pops off during this song too, if not a bit more on the low-key side.

89 Camp Trash - “Bobby”

-Outrageously simple, high production values and catchy vocals - perhaps this isn’t the most depressing Emo song of all time, but it’s at the very least Emo-Adjacent.

90 Stay Inside - “Ivy”

-Post-Hardcore-tinged Emo. This song hasn’t done anything you haven’t heard before, but it definitely finds a way to stand out in this crowded field.

91 Fiesta Bizarra - “¿Ya No Existes Más?”

-Fiesta Bizarra is a Midwest Screamo band that hails all the way from Peru, so right off the bat, they’re in a unique position. This song features really stringy Math Rock-like chord progressions and is overally a fairly light-hearted song, a weird feeling with all of the screaming around the clean vocals.

92 You Blew It! - “Match and Tinder”

-With the Emo Revival winding down by 2014, You Blew It! crafted this wonderful Emo track. The raw emotions, the playful guitarwork, the excellent vocal melodies, you’re gonna find all of your favorite Emo tropes here in this song.

93 Koyo - “Heaven So Heavy”

-Koyo is a relatively new band to the scene, but they’ve made a huge impact with their Post-Hardcore / Emo blend. Interestingly enough, this song sounds like if Jesse Lacey of Brand New was the frontman of Saosin. The harmonies alone are worth digging into.

94 Colossal - “The Dusk of Us”

-This song in particular contains some truly otherwordly guitar playing, so based on that alone, I’d recommend this song.

100 American Football - “The Summer Ends

-This song is absolutely serene. The trumpet is bliss, the guitar is sullen, the vocals are filled with hopelessness. This is Emo.

2023.11.30 00:36 FakeElectionMaker Presidency of Amy Klobuchar (2017–2020, domestic policy)

Klobuchar took office with a Democratic trifecta, Senate supermajority and four consecutive congressional gains, as Donald Trump's endorsement of populist third-party candidates had split the Republican vote. Given this, she was free to pursue her modern liberal agenda.
Klobuchar's first major bill, the Affordable Care Act, implemented a public healthcare option and protections for preexisting conditions. It was a major issue in the 2018 midterms, which saw a populist takeover of the GOP and small Republican gains.
Later in 2017, she signed an $100 billion initiative to connect rural areas to the Internet, federal funding for technical and vocational education, and tax hikes on the wealthiest 1% of Americans. Her first two years in office saw consistent and considerable economic growth, although Republicans argued it was inherited from Mitt Romney, and the economy crashed with COVID and the lockdowns.
During 2018, Klobuchar implemented an immigration reform bill that implemented gradual documentation for illegal immigrants, and provided for them to be repatriated if their committed crimes, and the closure of the boyfriend loophole in gun sales. However, the 117th Congress saw the loss of a supermajority and increased conflict with Congress.
Klobuchar named liberal judges in 2017, 2018 and 2020, maintaining the pro-choice majority in the Supreme Court.
As US presidents usually do after midterms, 2018 led to Klobuchar governing in a more moderate and bipartisan manner, dropping her goal to codify Roe v. Wade and authorizing the Keystone XXL pipeline, which was finished in 2021 under her successor Sarah Palin.
In spite of these successes, Klobuchar's controversial personality resulted in several White House incidents that damaged her reputation with swing voters. This and the poor economy due to COVID led to Sarah Palin narrowly defeating her in 2020, in one of the most controversial elections in US history.

The audience votes for their favorite song and watches as the cast turns that song into a full blown improvised musical – complete with memorable characters, witty dialogue, and plot twists galore. Dress in your best "red carpet" attire, pose for the paparazzi, and arrive early for the pre-party lounge for drinks, food, and fun! $50

Part II - The rest of the free Craigslist tapes
Beyond the ~100 exercise tapes that I got in my free haul, there were dozens of sealed movies and TV specials. I have tons of unsealing to do!
Of these, I’m particularly excited to check out some of the tapes of the old Michael Palin travel series he did for the BBC, and there’s a sealed tape with old footage of the “early days of the motorcar” in Boston. An that cool-looking tape about the space program in the clamshell.
The three Travolta movies in the first image are a box set, and I stuck in the Jane Fonda Betamax tape to show off even though it’s not VHS (I do have a Betamax VCR, so I can bear witness to the retro fitness).
I found someone local who I can unload most of the exercise tapes on, so now I can get my garage back 😂
The fourth image is just a tape I found under a bridge a couple months ago that I haven’t watched yet but am hopeful is going to live up to the cover art.
What catches your eye from this stack?

Phish, Saturday 10/16/2021 (2 years ago) Chase Center, San Francisco, CA, USA
Gap Chart, Tour: 2021 Fall Tour
Set 1 : Possum , Halley's Comet > 46 Days -> Slave to the Traffic Light , Simple > Shade > Winterqueen > Meat > Run Like an Antelope
Set 2 : Bathtub Gin > Everything's Right > Frankie Says > The Wedge , The Moma Dance
Encore : Carini
Jamchart Notes:
46 Days - Around the 5:00 mark the jam enters a more dynamic space, allowing for flourishes by all four in a strong collective effort. Mellows out in the final minutes for a very pleasant ending and -> "Slave".
Slave to the Traffic Light - A mostly smooth -> in from "46 Days". The first Set 1 version of "STTTL" in over five years is a gem. This jam peaks and peaks again, and just when you think it's peaked for the final time, it peaks once more.
Simple - A kaleidoscopic outro of interweaving delay riffs then shifts at 7:00 to a pumped-up syncopated groove, drawing similarities to "Simple's" 1996 heyday.
Bathtub Gin - While the jam becomes more serene and contemplative, Fish keeps things moving at a decent clip with a snappy beat, eventually leading to a more rocking conclusion bolstered by swelling synths.
Frankie Says - Kicking off the back half of a monstrous set 2 and busting out after a 196 show gap, what seems like a quick breather instead grows sea legs and takes a walk. Roughly 3:30 in, Mike and Page drive the jam to open flowery pastures, as Fish propels with cowbells and Trey searches for jam grooves. The groove washes out to sea and coasts on gentle waves upon Fish's ride, slowly building momentum to a characteristic melodic theme of fall '21. At the 8:30 mark the jam takes heavier rhythmic cues and a dance party throw down starts building. "Manteca" tease at 9:35. Thick effect-laden Trey and the cymbal-snare dance of Fish propel the back half of this jam to a start-stop "woo" passage. "Bathtub Gin" teases at 13:00 and 15:15.
The Moma Dance - The first "Moma" to serve as set-closer fills the role admirably with an atypically hard-driving, intense outro over shouts of "Monkey Man" from Fish.
Carini - This massive version shows up in the Encore, and anyone who decided to leave early truly missed out. Trey's nimble playing and Page flourishing on the piano kick this jam off. By 11:15, it turns into an effects-fest, with Fish laying down a cool texture for the exploration. The band eventually works its way back to the song proper to, officially, close the show out.
Show Notes:
Frankie Says was performed for the first time since August 8, 2015 (197 shows), contained Manteca teases from Trey, and ended with Bathtub Gin teases. Moma Dance contained a Monkey Man jam with quotes from Fish. This was the rescheduled date from the show that had been postponed due to the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak in 2020.

Gap Chart, Tour: 2018 Fall Tour
Set 1 : The Moma Dance > Tube , Theme From the Bottom > Free , Army of One , Halley's Comet > Everything's Right -> Cities > Walls of the Cave
Set 2 : Ghost > No Men In No Man's Land > Piper > Twenty Years Later > Show of Life > Also Sprach Zarathustra > Character Zero
Encore : Harry Hood
Jamchart Notes:
Tube - Page digs into his bag of tricks at 4:15, layering synthesizers on top of the groove, and later Trey takes charge as the jam becomes more rocking and peaks.
Everything's Right - Retains an understated intensity throughout and after 7:30 takes on a graceful, ethereal feel, coalescing at 9:30 with a truly beautiful sequence of soaring guitar and deep impact bass. Around 11:30, a Page-led groove is introduced which brings things to a close with a slick -> "Cities".
Twenty Years Later - A sick and twisted, evil monster. At first, it sounds like the band is content to tinker with the basic song. But at about 8:00, Fish and Mike hook up and develop a high-power, pulsing and driving base. Chaos ensues, as spacey effects, unusual keyboards, and sick Mike create a throbbing, mind-blowing sensory assault.
Show of Life - Regardless of your impression of this song generally, this version deserves a listen. Featuring heartfelt, emotive play and strong communication and interplay, the band, especially Trey, is clearly "in the zone" here, and fans are rewarded with an exceptionally strong version, a cathartic relief following the insane "Twenty Years Later" which immediately preceded.
Show Notes:
Trey teased Under Pressure In Piper. Page teased Rhapsody in Blue at the end of Harry Hood.

Phish, Sunday 10/16/2016 (7 years ago) Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, Jacksonville, FL, USA
Gap Chart, Tour: 2016 Fall Tour
Set 1 : Kill Devil Falls > The Moma Dance > Back on the Train , Undermind , Nellie Kane , Stash , Petrichor , Mike's Song > Bouncing Around the Room , Weekapaug Groove
Set 2 : Crosseyed and Painless > Steam > Piper > Wingsuit , Sparkle > The Wedge , Wading in the Velvet Sea > Run Like an Antelope
Encore : The Ballad of Curtis Loew , Character Zero
Jamchart Notes:
Piper - After rolling through solid in-bounds territory, the jam fractures into several sections, including "Woo"-like stop/start play, some nice upbeat playing with a swinging vibe, and a return to more rocking action with "C&P;" vocal quotes, before settling to percussive transition space.
Show Notes:
Crosseyed was teased in Steam, Piper, and Antelope.

Phish, Saturday 10/16/2010 (13 years ago) North Charleston Coliseum, North Charleston, SC, USA
Gap Chart, Tour: 2010 Fall Tour
Set 1 : Kill Devil Falls , Guelah Papyrus , The Curtain With > The Mango Song > Sand , Limb By Limb , Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley , Uncle Pen , Pebbles and Marbles , Cavern > David Bowie
Set 2 : Crosseyed and Painless , Dirt > Fluffhead > Also Sprach Zarathustra > Tweezer > Show of Life , You Enjoy Myself
Encore : I Been Around , Quinn the Eskimo (The Mighty Quinn) > Tweezer Reprise
Jamchart Notes:
Crosseyed and Painless - Opening a killer 2nd set in Charleston, this one is a straight-up rocker! After a blazing jam, they hit another vocal refrain before dipping into a spacier jam. Then they build back into another vocal refrain, after which they make a move for a funkier jam before hitting one final spacier passage.
Also Sprach Zarathustra - Excellent high energy version with a few outstanding minutes from Page in the second jam.
Show Notes:
The YEM vocal jam contained Guy Forget quotes.

1 Debut.
Jamchart Notes:
Simple - With Trey on the "mini-kit" Page grooves around quite a bit on organ.
Show Notes:
Swept Away and Steep debuted at this show.

Phish, Sunday 10/16/1994 (29 years ago) Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium, Chattanooga, TN, USA
Gap Chart, Tour: 1994 Fall Tour
Set 1 : Rift , Horn , Foam , Fee 1 > Split Open and Melt , The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday > Avenu Malkenu > The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday , Axilla > Possum
Set 2 : The Landlady > Poor Heart , Julius , Fluffhead > Big Ball Jam , Run Like an Antelope , Dog Faced Boy 2 , Sweet Adeline 3 , Sample in a Jar
Encore : Highway to Hell
Encore 2 : Harpua 4
1 Trey sang verses through megaphone. 2 Acoustic; without microphones. 3 Without microphones. 4 Narration told of Jimmy attending a Bootsy Collins concert.
Jamchart Notes:
Fluffhead - Right from the start, this excellent version is loaded with sprinkles of improvisation, well worth the visit despite minor flaws. Unlike most '94 performances, this one seems less intense and high power, and instead, adopts a more experimental approach. From Fluff's Travels to little spots in Clod, this "Fluffhead" is just a bit different than most. Page's piano solo in Clod is wild and crazy, while Trey's guitar efforts in Arrival seem to visit some slightly new territory.
Run Like an Antelope - Dissonant and improvisational jam that gets way out there at a couple of points, and has a little Trey solo in the "Marco" section.
Show Notes:
Trey sang the verses of Fee through a megaphone. Dog Faced Boy was acoustic and was, along with Sweet Adeline, performed without microphones. Before Dog Faced Boy, Trey introduced Fish for a "balloon and emotion solo...that will reach into your soul and rip your heart out of your body." Harpua included a Stonehenge quote and Flash Light jam and told of Jimmy attending a Bootsy Collins concert.

2023.10.12 00:11 Downtown-Table-4872 A timeline of Lauren Boebert's romantic life

Circa 1996 - A pre-orange Trump is first glimpsed by a young and impressionable Lauren, thanks to a VHS copy of Home Alone 2
1998-2000 - A Dairy Queen, a dumpster, and the kid who called in a bomb threat to get out of a math test.
September 2001 - 9/11 changes everything.
Circa 2003 - Lauren meets Jayson (with a 'y') - the pedophile of her dreams! - when she is 16 and he is 23
January 2004 - Jayson Boebert arrested and charged with public indecency and lewd exposure after exposing his penis at a bowling alley. This is unquestionably HOT.
February 2005 - Lauren gets a 'green light' when the townspeople agree that it's not THAT bad to expose yourself when you're a white man and definitely not gay.
March 2005 - Lauren's uterus / vagina becomes a glorious vessel of our Lord and Saviour when she gives birth, at age 18, to her first son, who will then auspiciously go on to impregnate a 15-year-old girl when he is 18. Praise Jebus and his glorious plan.
June 2005 - Lauren and the beloved Jayson (with a 'y') get married, avoiding an embarrassing baby lump at the alter and instead arrange for a babysitter during their honeymoon at Cracker Barrel, Orlando.
June 2006 - Posts on Adultjobs.com result in several interesting offers.
March 2007 - Sarah Palin look-a-like porn becomes a thing and Lauren becomes a Western Slope '8'.
January 2008 - Jayson, feeling all of his strength as a man, shows Lauren his copy of Guns and Ammo. She has a definite 'O'.
May 2013 - Shooter's Grill is launched and the happy couple hire waitstaff who carry handguns as they serve food-items to Rifle Colorado's healthy and attractive population.
July 2013 - Jayson (with a 'y') is seen playing with waitress Kelly Anne's pistol.
June 2015 - Trump's inspiring 'Escalator Speech,' in which he identifies Mexicans as rapists and murders is unquestionably HOT.
December 2017 - Somebody is cheating on someone.
November 2020 - Boebert's lifelong goal of humbly serving the public as a respected lawmaker is rewarded as she is elected to congress. Washington DC trips give various Boebert's a chance to "poll the constituency".
December 2021 - A memorable Christmas tree picture with the kids holding assault rifles celebrates the loving relationship of God, guns, mother, and husband - who is literally not in the picture, for some reason.
August 2022 - Jayson Boebert destroys a neighbor's mailbox, indicating he is a virile man.
March 2022 - Lauren's FarmersOnly.com profile gets 12 messages in one hour
May 2023 - Lauren confirms she is separating from Jayson.
September 2023 - Distraught from the 22nd anniversary of 9/11, Lauren gives her date to Beetlejuice the Musical something to talk about the next day at the watercooler.
October 2023 - Lauren is officially divorced! She is now free to imbibe the Christian bliss of grandmotherly dating.
