Hi There,
We rented a beach house in san diego for the week and had no idea right next door (extremely close proximity) they were building a new house. We would awaken to power drills and hammering. In California does the landlord need to disclose this construction noise? thank you.

I’m planning to visit Natal and Pipa in January as part of a trip to Brazil. I have time to include one other city in North East Brazil, and I’m trying to decide between: Salvador, Fortaleza and Joao Pessoa.
I’m looking for a city with a vibrant culture with busy streets, nice beaches, and great food, good local inhabitants, and good restaurants and nightlife.
Fortaleza seems to have the best looking beaches, but Salvador does seem really vibrant as well as its colonial architecture. Which one has the best nightlife - I’m not sure on this?
Joao Pessoa seems to be the “safest” of the three options, and also in really close proximity to Natal/Pipa - but perhaps doesn’t look as fun and vibrant as the other two.
What would you recommend?

We are looking at a place in the North Pacific beach area, it’s somewhat south/southeast of Kate Sessions park. It seems very quiet/ residential at the moment but I know absolutely nothing about the area. All the closest grocery stores/coffee shops etc would be a drive down to Garnet ave. Is this place ridiculously packed in summer? Too loud? Etc? Thanks in advance!

Recently got a job working up at West Point and I am looking at places to move along the Hudson, have been doing a lot of reading and having trouble deciding between Peekskill, Ossining, Nyack, etc. Many of the posts I've read seem more geared toward families who are moving so additional thoughts and opinions would be helpful. I am planning to move up sometime end of June or early July. A few background details that might help - single, M26, planning to drive up so I'll have my car. Would like to live somewhere with easy access to the Metro North as I have friends and family in NYC and will likely spend most weekends going down there I imagine.
I'll need to commute to West Point 4-5 days a week starting in August once the semester starts up. I also do bjj and there's a great gym in White Plains (Essential Jiu Jitsu) that I'd love to join and that's something I'd likely do 3-4 times a week in the evenings. Seems like Peekskill and Ossining fit the bill the most with commutes to West Point being ~25 (from Peekskill) to ~35 (from Ossining) min away, and then commute to the gym being ~20 (from Ossining) to ~33 (from Peekskill) min away. So kind of in the middle I guess.
I'm from North Carolina so I'm used to driving most places, and I know these commute times are pretty low it seems for what many people have to do from this area (i.e. into Manhattan most days) so I'm open to any suggestions. Peekskill vs Ossining, which would be best based on all this? Other pros and cons (e.g. daily tolls to cross the Hudson to get to West Point)? Any other suggestions for towns I should check out? Anything major I'm not considering? Would also love suggestions for apartments in these areas if you have them; my budget is pretty solid so open to anywhere.

This is in New Jersey, in case that makes a difference. My mother (deceased) had a vacation cottage in a shore community. A friend of mine asked to store his boat in her driveway temporarily, in return for doing some small repairs on the house exterior. This is against the rules of the local beach club (sort of like an HOA for the area,) but we allowed it because it was only supposed to be for a few months.
The friend became ill and died very suddenly. He left no will. His next of kin lives out of state, and has been letting friend's long term girlfriend dispose of much of the estate. GF has been promising to remove the boat, but couldn't find the paperwork, then couldn't get a hitch for her car... it's now been 2+ years with more and more excuses. (GF now states she has recently had an accident and is recovering from surgery.)
My brother and I are technically now the owners of the cottage. I'm wondering if I can contact some state authority, have the boat declared abandoned, and then have somebody haul it off. GF did say she would contact the next of kin; I don't know if she will actually do that. Am I legally obligated to do so before taking action?
Any suggestions for how to get this mess resolved would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Nearly everybody who is asking for advice here appears to travel to Interlaken, Grindelwald, Wengen, or Mürren. Now that's fair enough if that's where they want to go, but I wonder why.
The Alps are wildly popular among Europeans too, both for summer and for winter vacations, but I never heard from anybody that they visited that area. At all. Of course Switzerland is not popular because of the price level, but people who do go to Switzerland will go to Graubünden or Wallis - in my experience Wallis is most popular. Maybe Kandersteg too, or Ticino. But the only person who ever told me they went to Interlaken/Grindelwald, it was an American tourist.
Did that area specifically decide to focus on American tourists (the way Spanish beach resorts specilize on specific nationalities), or what else can be the reason?
And to those who have been there - I am sure those mountains are nice enough, no doubt about that, but is it as overrun with Americans as I fear, or is it still a nice area to visit? (Of course there's tourism, that's no problem, but does it feel like one big American colony?)

Hi all! So in June 2024 myself (first-timer) and a friend (not) are embarking on a road trip through the countryside, working our way through Tuscany, and then along some of the Adriatic coast with destinations along the way. We've got a fair amount of bookings made, but still have some decisions left and could use general recommendations for food, sights, etc. Plans are as follows:
Arrive in morning via FCO, rental car pickup and leave
Night 1 in Orvieto, likely a winery visit and some general exploring
Night 2-3 in Montepulciano
Night 4 in Cortona
Night 5-6 in La Spezia, from here we will park at accommodation and take train to visit Cinque Terre for these days
Night 7 in San Marino(?), no booking yet for this one. We discussed San Marino but open to options.
Night 8 in Rimini, drive from here continues along coast for some beach stops along the way
Night 9 undecided! Somewhere that will split the difference for the return to Rome the next day
Night 10 nearby FCO for early morning departure the next day
Overall we want to keep it as leisurely as possible during the day, with a few exceptions as we are hopping around quite a lot. We love history, food, wine, and culture. Willing to go our of our way for a great experience.

Hello legaladvice! I am an incoming graduate student at a university in North Carolina looking for housing alongside two of my undergraduate friends in the surrounding area. I found a three person house quite close to the campus and have been discussing touring the property with the current tenant. After re-reading the fine print in the listing, it says "please no undergraduates." However, the current tenant that lives there told me there is no way the owners could check that my two friends are undergraduates, and that we should be fine to apply. Hello, I was taking birth control but still ended up getting pregnant. I wasn’t trying and I was completely off guard by it. I currently have an open case with dss and my child is in my mother’s care. I’m doing the classes and following the petition to a T. I got dss called because I had was going through postpartum depression really bad and things around the house got neglected but I never once stopped taking care of my baby. I also only smoked thc-a vapes and prerolls, but I only did that because it was so bad and my doctor never put the referral through to get me a psychiatrist to get the proper help I needed.
