2024.05.14 16:47 sunflwrprincess03 What’s the best way to make money from home?

So I am 32 weeks pregnant and the baby will be here soon. I’ve chosen not to take maternity leave and to work all the way up until I go into labor due to the financial situation in my household. We make decent money & just bought a house last July. Both my husband and I work full time jobs - he’s a chef & makes about 25$/ hour and works Monday-Saturday from 8-2/3. I work odd days and I only work 4 days a week but at 8 hour days each so Tuesday, Friday 10-6 and Wed-Saturday from 9-5 but I only make 15$/ hour as I’m just a counter cashier & then help my company make snacks in Wednesday but I’m mostly just customer service. Even with the hours we’re working now, we are barely living paycheck to paycheck- we’re almost always late on mortgage payments & my car payment. I am so worried about our income taking a hit while I’m out on leave bc the 400/500 I make a week will not be coming into the house & we desperately need my paychecks to stay afloat. I will probably be out of work for two months minimum to recover from the baby- this is my third child & I like to spend the time to connect and grow with my child after birth and I will be exclusively breast feeding so I will need the initial two months to get acclaimed to our new lifestyle with three children in the house. But what I am wondering is what can I do from home to make a bit of income to try to keep my house above water during this time n Would it be worth it to apply for work from home jobs or should I try to find a side gig, like an mlm or something along those lines? I also do crochet so I was thinking about trying to sell some little things over fb and instagram like potholders and blankets Please help a broke momma out. I’ll take any (appropriate) suggestions to try to make an income while I’m out of work
DO NOT SUGGEST ONLYFANS, FEET FINDER OR ANY OTHER EXPLICIT TYPE OF WORK
Thank in advance

2024.05.14 15:56 ConC02 Findings after intense job search

Hello,
I am currently on an intense job search looking for marketing jobs in Manchester, Liverpool and surrounding areas. As such I have come across quite a few of the false 'Marketing / Sales' jobs and have the following list of companies for you to AVOID AVOID AVOID
I have found all these via indeed:
Gold Point Promotions
Envision Mcr
Az / Azure Marketing liverpool
Group Project Manchester
River_mcr
If you are curious here are the signs that you should avoid
FOLLOW EACHOTHER ON INSTA, they also post similar pictures of vague 'events' with young looking people
Mention a lot about frequent company events etc
Websites use a lot of terminology that is meant to make them look real and smart - anyone with an understanding of their industry will be able to see its gibberish.
Interview strucutre seems the same, 10m call going over basic details before going on about how great you are and following up with a zoom interview
Little details available on google, address or business name not showing much or anything
I hope that this information may help stop someone from falling into these traps. Fuck these scam artist MLM clowns and the havock that they create
If anyone has any others feel free to comment their names, i hope this thread can be useful to someone

2024.05.13 23:32 milldrive Sabify Review: Unpacking the Reality Behind the AI Trading Hype

Sabify Review: Unpacking the Reality Behind the AI Trading Hype
Hey Reddit,
Today, I’m diving into Sabify, a name that’s been floating around in discussions about cryptocurrency investment opportunities. Sabify is marketed as a cutting-edge fintech platform using AI for trading, but there are some serious concerns you should be aware of before getting involved. Let’s break down what Sabify claims to offer and the red flags that come with it.
Now before I did in...
Do you want to know a 100% legit way to make an income from home?
What if you could build a passive income stream that’s actually passive?
An income stream that doesn’t require:
  • Being on the phone all day
  • Wasting hours of your life when people no-show
  • Trading your time for money
  • Financial stress during a bad month
  • Letting someone else control your fate
  • No Trading or mining
  • 100% Passive rewards from crypto 12% to 200% per year
You could actually build in your spare time, and grow as large or as small as you want to, without having to spend hours a day chasing prospects and reciting the same sales pitch over and over again?
If that sounds like something you’d be interested in, check out New Digital Economy.
If you want to know more about Sabify keep reading…

What is Sabify Review?

https://preview.redd.it/ekb08dqdi90d1.jpg?width=381&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5179307b71a3de581a8bb8e1bb455197d1acef5
Sabify operates under the domain “sabify.ai,” and intriguingly, some parts of its website source-code are in Portuguese. However, Sabify gives off a mysterious vibe as it fails to provide any substantial information about who owns or runs the platform. Their homepage is pretty minimalistic, mainly just an affiliate login form, which doesn't inspire much confidence.

Sabify's Business Model

Sabify doesn't sell any actual products or services to the general public. Instead, it solely markets its affiliate membership, which is a common trait in many questionable MLM schemes. Affiliates are encouraged to purchase licenses that purportedly allow them to benefit from AI-driven trading, promising passive returns that sound too good to be true. Here’s how the licenses break down:
  • Quantum 50: Pay 150 USDT to potentially invest 300 USDT or more, with a 50% tax on returns.
  • Quantum 60: Higher investment and slightly lower tax.
  • Zen: Pay 1000 USDT to invest 500 USDT or more, with the lowest tax rate of 25%.

The Compensation Scheme

Sabify’s compensation model heavily emphasizes recruitment. It operates on a binary structure where affiliates are positioned at the top of a binary team, split into two sides. This structure supports earning through new recruitments rather than through actual product sales, which is a hallmark of a pyramid scheme.

Investment and Returns

The allure of Sabify lies in its advertised capability of generating returns through AI trading. Affiliates invest in various tiers, expecting high returns based on the amount invested. However, Sabify does not provide any verifiable evidence of generating revenue via AI trading, which is a significant concern. If their AI were as successful at trading as claimed, why would they need substantial investments from the public?

Regulatory and Legality Issues

Sabify presents itself as an investment opportunity involving securities, due to the promise of returns generated through trading activities. However, they have not registered with any securities or commodities regulators, which is mandatory for legal operation in most jurisdictions. This non-compliance indicates potential securities and commodities fraud.

Is Sabify a Ponzi Scheme?

The business model suggests that Sabify might be operating as a Ponzi scheme, relying heavily on new investments to pay returns to earlier investors. This is unsustainable and often leads to the collapse of the platform, leaving many investors out of pocket.

Conclusion: Should You Invest in Sabify?

In conclusion, while Sabify attempts to market itself as a revolutionary AI trading platform, the lack of transparency, dependency on new recruitments for returns, and non-compliance with regulatory laws paint a different picture. Investing in Sabify carries substantial risk, likely ending in a loss of funds when the scheme inevitably collapses.
For anyone considering Sabify, I strongly recommend proceeding with caution, doing thorough research, and possibly consulting a financial advisor. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
What are your thoughts or experiences with Sabify or similar platforms? Let’s keep the discussion going and help each other stay informed!
Stay safe and invest wisely, everyone!

2024.05.13 23:20 KineticChain Best videos to explain MLMs to my confused but trying MLM-addicted Mom?

My Mom has been apart of one MLM or another for as long as I can remember. She has gone into extreme debt more than once, and is heading there again. She's currently apart of Stampin' Up which is on the much lighter side of being an MLM. I have tried to explain why she loses money with MLMs, how they manipulate people into believing they can be successful etc. She is open to understanding, but isn't convinced.
Her big argument is often "but some people make so much money!" and names the trips she sees etc. I asked her what kind of trip she could go on if she had the money she had spent on stampin' up. It really made her think, and she responded "I could have gone around the world".
Stampin up is tricky because it's not as obvious as other MLMs. However, they are constantly pushed to buy the newest release of overpriced products (seasonal, I believe) to demonstrate and post all over socials, and they cannot sell any other brand (she can't even sell her used stamps from another maker, another way stampin up makes sure you only buy from them).
Help me help her before she finds herself in something worse. Can you suggest any documentaries that could help her understand how MLMs work? Especially that explain why some sellers seem to have such lavish lifestyles, but that won't make her feel like she is being shamed for participating?
*obviously, there are issues to address in these patterns that therapy would be best for. That will never happen, so I'm just doing what I can.

2024.05.13 19:54 NotAgainNOLA70119 BEWARE of Silver Lining Marketing Inc.

Disillusioned with the current job market? I get it, I really do. As if sifting through thousands of opportunities, writing a cover letters, going through 3 rounds of interviews, and all of the “homework assignments” isn’t enough? But we CAN’T forget to add a deep dive search into your potential employer’s background to the list because the amount of pyramid scheme/predatory companies out there is only increasing and they’re getting more and more sophisticated.
I’m have one intention; to prevent others from falling prey to the same predatory and morally corrupt situation that I found myself in. Thank god (or whomevewhatever is pulling the strings out there) for good friends with a knack for uncovering companies secrets or I would be working for a MLM right now. The company is called Silver Lining Marketing Inc. and they’re office is located in Gretna. They have an actual office, with employees and everything. They even make their employees wear business professional clothing so as to appear more legitimate. They have a functioning website, which once I actually read everything on their website, I realized that they aren’t really marketing the non-profits they fundraise for, but rather they are marketing job opportunities and personal growth.
I applied to a job listing on indeed for an executive manager position with Silver Lining Marketing Inc. with $75-100K compensation, which sounds great, right? You go through 3 rounds of interviews which end with an in-person interview with one of the “Team Leaders” and their CEO. Everyone is SO nice and they do a great job of making the office feel “fun and supportive”. They don’t give you the job on the spot but rather wait at least a day to contact you after your final interview, so it appears as though this is a very competitive and desirable position. Once you’re hired the switch flips and you’re finally made aware that you will not reach the executive manager position for about a year and this is how they get you!
First you will start out in an entry level “training” position for about a month where the pay is a measly $12/hr, but you get 20% of one-time donations and 1X monthly donations…which I don’t know how anyone sees any of that “bonus” money because they are still training and not “out in the field”. It was at this point that I asked what “out in the field” meant. I wrongfully assumed that in this position I would be doing event planning for galas, dinners and any other kind of fundraising event…but man was I wrong! “Out in the field” actually translated to going to Walmart, CVS, various grocery stores, ect for 8 hours with a clipboard and harassing strangers for donations to various non-profits. That how they make their “bonuses” and I HIGHLY DOUBT that the people they coerced into donating their hard-earned money would still want to donate if they knew that approximately 40% of that donation would be going in to the pocket of a for-profit marketing firm. They have you wear clothing with the non-profit’s logo on it so that people think you work for the non-profit and they also tell you to never tell the donors that you take a (hefty) percentage of the money that they think is being donated in its entirety to the non-profit.
After about a month you move up to a leadership role. The leadership level is split in to 3 tiers; Jr. leader, Core leader, and Sr. leader. You’re still making $12/hr by the way, BUT WAIT, now you’ll get 20% of any one-time donations you 1.5X any monthly donations you receive. When you move to the Core leadership level you get a “growth bonus” which I was told is $200, hooray?? Upon reaching the Sr. leadership role you’re still at $12/hr but now you get 20% of one-time donations and 2X monthly donations. According to the employee I spoke to, new employees typically spend around 16-20 weeks in this role. At this point you are responsible for set up and break down of “event” in “the field”, your team of $12/hr cronies, and the money collected at the “events”. To move to the next tier, which is assistant manager, one must first indoctrinate 4 other people and at least 1 of those 4 people has to make it to a Sr. leadership role. This mean you have to get at least 4 more suckers to work for 12/hr before you can be promoted, is this starting to sound familiar? In addition to your recruitment goals, you must also get at least 10K in one-time donations and 1K in monthly donations for 2 weeks in a row.
When you get to the third level you become assistant manager and you are STILL MAKING $12/hr, but don’t get your panties in a bunch because WOAH now you’re make 20% on one-time donations and 3X monthly donations. The assistant manager role typically last about 8-12 weeks and it is in this role that you learn the scripts and necessary brain-washing tools to start your very own MLM! The fourth and final level is executive manager and in this role you’re supposed to be making 75k-100k and be in charge of your own entire office of brainwashed underpaid employees and you get to rinse and repeat with all of the new hires.
These companies brainwash people in numerous ways. Every morning there is a meeting for an hour and half in which you stand up, yell mantras, clap, and get hyped up for a long day of skimming donations from various non-profit charities. They make sure everyone looks professional and has a “good attitude” to prevent people from getting spooked or god forbid thinking for themselves long enough to realize that they’re part of a pyramid scheme. How is this legal you say!? Well, unfortunately it is legal, but it absolutely should not be. See this particular company isn’t making you buy a product and then sell said product to make money, no no no, instead this company hides behind the good names of the charities that it “represents” while skimming money off the top of each donation. The Charities are getting donations they otherwise wouldn’t have so they not motivated to do the necessary research in to the practices of the company that is paying them. I would also like to note that I don’t think that all of the people that currently work for or have worked for Silver Lining Marketing Inc. are terrible, morally corrupt, individuals because they at their core victims of this heinous system that judicial system has allowed to persist. This company targets kind-hearted individuals that want to help charities, individuals who typically don’t take a job just for the money. This allows them to guilt you in to working for an unlivable wage because, hey, your making a difference and if you just work hard enough for a while then you’ll make lots of money and get to start your very own business!
I watched a youtube video on pyramid/MLM schemes called “The Slave Circle (Direct Marketing Devil Corp. Documentary)” and this video gave me the confidence I needed to tell the company that I would not work for them and why. I highly recommend watching the video if you think you might be falling prey to a company like Silver Lining Marketing Inc. Here’s the link; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyCRzBt7GuY
Additionally, the Lula rich docuseries on amazon prime is also worth a watch.
Lastly, I would like to say that if you or someone you know has been a victim of a fucked MLM like this, don’t turn to anger or vengeance. Don’t let this discourage you, these companies are so sophisticated and have scripted responses for every possible situation. They prey on good people and you are not a bad person if you fall for it, just don’t make that mistake again, learn from your errors, and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post about your experience on reddit, glassdoor, and anywhere else you feel comfortable so that you can prevent others from falling victim to the same situation!!
I really hope this helps others and if anyone has any specific questions, let me know in the comments and I’ll try to check in every so often and answer them.

2024.05.13 17:26 FlyingWhales80 Investigating the worst reviewed rehab centers

Hey Phil, re-watching your video about your life turnaround after facing prison or rehab hit me pretty hard.
I've been researching rehab centers to help a friend and the idea crossed my head that it could be an interesting video idea to investigate the worst-rated rehab centers. Perhaps interviewing patients that had poor experiences or going in for an undercover consultation, Marco-MLM style. There seems there may be certain organizations that may push ineffective, indoctrinating, or even rude approaches.
Anyway, thank you for sharing your journey and inspiring!
Also you're a cuck druggie washed up emoboy ;) <3

2024.05.13 17:11 Wife_of_Shao_Kahn Most of the interviewers have no clue how to properly conduct an interview

I've been job hunting since last March, and I've had 40 interviews. Out of these 40 interviews, only THREE TIMES did I actually have the impression that I was having an actual conversation with the interviewer(s). In the other 37 cases, it felt either like an MLM presentation of their company, detailing which countries they have divisions in, how many employees they have, how successful they are, etc., or like I was sent to the principal's office to explain myself.

In the first case, I get it that a brief introduction to the company is somehow normal and expected, kind of like an introduction, but I swear, in several instances, I would sit without saying a single word for like 10 minutes until they told me EVERYTHING about their company, then proceeded to tell me working hours and salary without asking me a single question. At the end of such monologues, I could only smile and say, "Wow, that sounds great, I could definitely see myself doing this job," because I had no other choice.

In one instance, the owner showed me his entire spa center and recited what services they offer, then said, "but, we already hired someone." There were many red flags during the phone conversation with him, and if I had any other choice, I would have just told them that I’m no longer interested, but this really left me speechless.

In the other instances, I would introduce myself, the interviewer would introduce themselves, like "I'm John, hiring manageteam leadeowner here. Tell me about yourself," and then I would be left to guess what they actually want to know, since I am in my mid-30s, have had several jobs in several fields, and have a bachelor's degree. Obviously, the safe bet is to talk about the stuff related to the position I'm interviewing for, which I did, but it really doesn't help the candidate if the interviewer stares at them and doesn't say a word or move a single muscle on their face, let alone if they are obviously bored.

I had a panel interview for a receptionist position at some terrible factory, and since I had already worked as a receptionist both in hotels and other types of businesses, I can guarantee you that 95% of people in this world can do that job properly, with minimal training. However, I had a panel interview where one person just greeted me and told me their name (without giving any information about who they actually are), an HR lady with the attitude of an SS officer, and a man who didn't say a single word, not even his name, not even "hello" when I entered their office. I mean, really. This was a "tell us about yourself" type of interview; the HR lady just told me something along the lines of "I see you already have experience as a receptionist, so you know what you can expect in this kind of job" with minimal info about the position and the salary. Then she said, "tell us something about yourself." All three of them stared at me like I had a third eye on my forehead or something like that. I talked about working as an office clerk and receptionist; this was god knows how many times I’m "talking about myself" on a job interview, but they didn’t follow with any kind of question. Seriously, they didn’t ask me a single question. Whenever I’d make a pause to let them ask anything or point the conversation (or, better say, my monologue) in some direction, all of them would just stare at me, like they wanted to say "ok, go on," until the point I couldn’t say anything without looking like an idiot. I have dozens of stories about "unexpected problems which I successfully solved" in previous jobs and answers to other common questions in job interviews, but no one bothered to ask, and it felt weird to just tell them "you know, once I had a rude, drunk guest, let me tell you how I solved this problem." I know that they probably already had someone in mind, but still, they could have just canceled the interview or acted decently. I would feel more comfortable at a parole sentencing than in front of this "panel."

All in all, I really think that a GREAT part of the problem lies with the interviewers. Seriously, it’s not us, it’s them. So many of them lack basic social skills. They don’t know what questions to ask, and so many of them don't ask any questions at all, or at least not work-related (I was asked multiple times if I am married – this isn't the USA, Australia, or some Western European country where I could actually complain to someone – and at one place I was asked for info about marriage, children, do I own real estate, do I or my family members have health problems, and several other questions. This was also for a receptionist position). Don't feel bad if you couldn't show your best at the interview, most of the time, it's interviewer's fault, not yours.

2024.05.13 06:55 donnasheridan23 Resource Recs?

hi everyone! just started this journey two days ago when a dragon came to me in my dream in an extremely vivid and beautiful way. i deconverted from christianity extremely recently - 3 weeks ago (it felt as though it wasn't a choice - the contradictions of the bible and church hit me like a ton of bricks and it felt like a veil was lifted spiritually and i saw christainity simply as an abusive MLM). i've been devout my entire life, and still believe my spiritual experiences were real, just not with the christian god, necessarily. (toying with the idea of keeping jesus as a diety (?)) in the past 3 weeks, i've had some pretty significant spiritual experiences since finally losing that intense christian fear of spiritual entities outside of christ - including incredibly (often stressful) vivid dreams. i've been researching and experimenting with paganism, but had never heard of dragon magic. when i had that dream, it felt very important and i started researching as soon as i woke up. i've done meditations, feel as though i've met her, and am extremely excited to start exploring the relationship. i've been scouring the internet for more information but it's tough to find stuff written by people with solid credentials/who seem to know what they're talking about (?). what books/podcasts/channels/etc have helped you in your journey? any advice to a newbie would be appreciated as well :) <3
TLDR: resource recommendations (specifically books!) for someone very new to this path and very eager to deepen knowledge and experience!

2024.05.13 00:53 abaxeron Q4W: Parallels between fathers and husbands

Women, do the reasons you list to justify divorces also apply to abandoning your father? Why if Yes, why if No?
Father:
The man is literally from another generation, you could not possibly have anything in common being at such different stages in your lives. He is old, frail, not vital enough anymore to keep you entertained, not labor-capable enough to support you financially. Hell, maybe he even slapped you once or twice when you were two and tried to scratch his eyes out on your quest (that he physically held you from) to find out what happens when you lick a power plug. Even worse, the old fart is clingy and demands more attention with every passing year.
Husband:
A man who probably got together with you at your quite vulnerable age, when you had nothing and were no-one career-wise, he absorbed your student debt, paid your mortgage and medical bills, helped you with college homework, supported you on maternal leave, stayed by your side when against his advice you decided to go clubbing and narrowly escaped getting violated. Yes, maybe he even slapped you once when you stole keys to his safe in order to invest his precious metal savings into MLM (or did something comparably stupid). Yes, maybe after supporting you for decade or more, he is more exhausted and less entertaining than he used to be at your honeymoon phase. Maybe he's a little more grumpy, rough on the edges, definitely not as young, and much more stressed out.
Trash out of the way:
Men do not abandon women when women get cancer; re-read that study attentively or look up the follow-ups. "Men cheat more" either never was true, or flipped. Abuse and violence are nowhere near enough to justify divorce disparity. Women initiating the majority of divorces is not "just paperwork".

2024.05.12 13:23 Morsnide Belief Coding

Hey. I wanted to share my experience of Belief Coding (popular in the UK). I am unsure whether it’s classed as an MLM but here goes. The website states “Belief Coding® is a revolutionary healing method that is science-backed and spiritual, changing beliefs at a subconscious level.” My friend became a Belief Coding facilitator about 2 years ago. I know they spent a good couple of grand at least on the training, and the rest since. They offered me a free session in return for a testimonial, this was around 6 months ago. I wanted to support them so I agreed to take part. It involved a Zoom call where they would guide me through a Belief Coding and Human Design session. They are a kind soul, genuine, would do anything for you. So I am sad they have become entrapped in this world which I believe to be a scam. The session tried to delve into my “discomforts” and use my subconscious to find out what’s holding me back. My friend is by no means trained to psychologically assess me or even support me if I become upset so I already feel uncomfortable talking about things that happened in my childhood. They keep delving, asking me to rock back and forth to determine the time I was born which gives me my human design (my path is already chose apparently due to the date/time I was born). They want to find out what my “limiting beliefs” are. Why I’m not succeeding at what I do, why my confidence is low. And they believe (as do all Belief Coding facilitators) that it links back to something that happened in our childhoods. I become quite uncomfortable, they keep prodding away, asking about something that happened as a child (I’d swayed back & forth to determine that my discomfort happened at a certain age). Kept asking me to try and remember what it was. In the end I just had to end the session. I apologised, I said first of all I’m sorry but I can’t give you any answers right now. Lots of things happened in my childhood, they are resolved, I didn’t need to speak to a friend about them. My friend posts lots of testimonials about their sessions, each one comes from another Belief Coding facilitator (I’m yet to see a genuine testimonial from someone who isn’t another facilitator). Jessica Cunningham (founder of BC) is laughing her way to the bank with lots of vulnerable peoples savings. This healing method claims to have helped people get rid of physical ailments such as rashes, chronic diseases or even rapid weight loss. I feel so awful for my friend but I also wanted to share my experience anonymously. I think we have to be very careful when it comes to people’s mental health and trying to assess & cure them using Belief Coding. Would love to hear others thoughts on this.

2024.05.12 06:01 LucyAriaRose Roommate won’t stop binge eating my food…

I am NOT the Original Poster. That is u/GreasyBlackbird. She posted in badroommates.
Thanks to u/ChickPeaEnthusiast for finding this older one.
Trigger Warning: unspecified eating disorder; binge eating
Mood Spoiler: Sad but tentative ok ending
Original Post: April 8, 2024
I (30F) am temporarily renting out half of a 2bed 2.5bath condo for a 3 month contract. I live with the owner (47F). When I moved in she told me she had lost 100lbs a year or two ago without working out. I have since come to learn she has a ‘health coaching business’…. aka she is in an MLM. She only eats powdered supplements all day and has one keto meal at night. I looked into her ‘company’, it is essentially a starvation diet and the supplements are quite expensive.
None of this is a problem for me, live and let live as long as you don’t try to recruit me to the scam. The issue comes in, at least once a week she binge eats huge quantities of my food. It’s high fat, keto type foods - entire jars of almond butter, bags of shredded cheese, 1lb bags of pecans or cashews, and recently 6oz cans of fried onions. She eats these in one sitting, usually if I am away for a weekend.
She is always very apologetic, embarrassed, and immediately runs out to replace what she has eaten. I feel bad, I definitely had some periods of binge eating in my 20s, but never to the point eating someone else’s food. One time I said I was going to an event but ended up cancelling. When I came out of my room and walked into the kitchen she looked like she had seen a ghost. There was my empty bag of 8 cheese slices and her hand was in my almost finished costco bad of nuts. It is very awkward!
I have never had this issue before. I think she has some other mental health struggles and I do not want to rock the boat. Plus she does replace everything, although a few times I have had to ask her to. I’m moving out in a week or so. Should I leave this in my review of the place?
Relevant Comments:
Commenter: I am glad she replaces your food but that would be so annoying to live with.
OOP: Yes sometimes I go to use things I use sparingly (butter, avocado oil) and they are gone.
Commenter: She a drank a bottle of avocado oil true or false
OOP: Ha!!! No it was a spray. She had already used a full bottle, replaced that, then used that one up entirely without replacing.
Commenter: That person is destroying their livekidneys, between the high fat/protein binge and the powdered supplements. They'll probably wind up admitted with AKI and get yelled at by their physician.
OOP: Oh absolutely. She asked me if she might have anemia because she’s so tired. I pointed out she doesn’t eat any carbohydrates and that is definitely effecting her energy levels. She said her supplements provide ‘all the nutrients that fruits and carbs have so it can’t be that’…
I’d also be concerned for lack of fiber. I recently have been seeing that colon cancer is on the rise because diets are more processed/lack fiber from fresh produce.
Commenter: Yeah, you should. I wouldn't want to live with someone like that who hasn't taken any steps to rectify it (it's good that she replaces the food right away, but still unacceptable that she's still eating all of it in the first place).
OOP: True, she has gone in my cabinets to take things out and tries to put them back exactly where they were, but I still notice. For example I always use a fork when prepping my overnight oats (feels a little easier than a spoon, maybe just a weird habit of mine), and use that fork to dig out my almond butter. A few times I’ve opened the jar and there are spoon marks, with quite a bit missing. This is also disgusting if she ate straight from the jar, which knowing her hygiene habits would not suprise me.
Commenter: This was me in my teens-20’s. I was “fit”, but my binge-restrict cycles were out of control. I was basically low grade starving myself all day and the urge to eat large quantities of high-fat, high-carb food at night was uncontrollable. Especially peanut butter. Sometimes I would do it while half-asleep. My binges would spill over into my roommates food sometimes and I would feel really bad and replace it. I’m so glad that’s all in the rear view mirror.
OOP: Sounds like you are in the same spot as my roommate. Do you have any ideas on how I can compassionately approach her and tell her I think she needs some help? What would have been helpful to you during that time?
(The above commenter's response) Honestly I was so consumed by guilt and shame and uncontrollable urges, I don’t know what I would’ve needed to hear at that time. I definitely knew I had a problem. Maybe gently start with the fact that you had an eating disorder too and you know how it feels, and that you knew someone (me!) who dealt with the same thing and treatment changed their life. Granted, I’m not as small as I used to be but neither am I out of control with my weight and food. If she’s ready to embrace sanity around food over thinness, then she’ll be receptive. But I was deathly afraid of weight gain at the time so any solution that would cause my artificially low weight to stabilize upwards would’ve been met with a panic attack and extreme rejection.
But just showing empathy is a big first step. When I lived at home for a year (for ED treatment) I asked my parents to put a lock on the pantry door so I wouldn’t night eat, and that also helped. It sounds like it’s too late for you to do that - also an unfair burden on you - but just a thought. I wish I had a better answer for you, but it sounds like she needs to hit rock bottom and have a come to Jesus moment where she realizes a normal life is more important than desperately trying to lose weight in an unhealthy way.
OOP: Well said, thank you for this incredibly thought out response. I think I will have a conversation with her and say I feel for her that she seems to lose control around food. I’ve had those feelings myself. But also make it clear that it bothers me. Maybe that soft boundary will be enough to push her in the right direction? I’m glad you got help!! Thank you again
To a deleted comment:
She replaces stuff but then helps herself to the replacement! Her hygiene habits are…. lax…. so it really grosses me out if she is eating my shredded cheese straight out of the bag or almond butter with a spoon straight from the jar.
Commenter: Instead of replacing your food why doesn’t she just go get her own?
OOP: I have no idea. Someone else commented it can be a psychological thing - if I don’t buy the ‘bad food’ myself then I won’t eat it - but then they feel out of control and see what’s sitting right there and go crazy.
Commenter: Your review of the place? Like you are going to proactively seek out a review site and post about this woman’s struggles like that, just cause? I dunno… Why?
OOP: I am renting the place through a website similar to airbnb. I have used it 5 other times and you are strongly encouraged to leave reviews.
Update Post: April 9, 2024 (Next Day)
The day after I originally posted I noticed my 16oz sour cream was mostly gone and had spoon marks. I had used a fork to drizzle a small amount over nachos last time I used it, so safe to assume my roommate had eaten it. Our schedules don't always line up so I decided it would be best if I talk to her via text when she is off work. Convo went as follows:
me: hey when I was home earlier I noticed a pretty significant portion of my sour cream was gone
rm: At the store now. Was doing some work until 3am and had a low moment. I’m really sorry. Replaced by 5:15pm.
me: It’s okay you don’t need to replace. I did want to talk about it though, it bothers me when my food is missing. can you please try to avoid touching my stuff in the fridge or my cabinet?
rm: Yes.
me: I understand what it’s like to be out of control sometimes when it comes to food 🫶🏻 let me know if you ever want to talk. is there anything I can do to help make it easier to avoid?
rm: Not a good housemate trait. It’s disrespectful of your stuff and I’m sorry. I’ve been struggling lately. Thanks for bringing it up. I know I need to change
me: it is not a character flaw! life is tough enough as it is. I’ve been there before. please do not beat yourself up about it ❤️
rm: Thanks. Well, do you need anything at the grocery store while I’m here?
me: nah i’m all set thank you!
When I got home she had bought an identical new sour cream and got me flowers, has been up in her room all evening though :( A very nice gesture, I really did not need any more sour cream and was not going to come close to finishing it in the next week before I move out.
While she often takes small portions of certain things I probably wouldn't have used/noticed anyway, I mentioned in a few comments on the original post - I have other concerns of her hygiene and food safety habits. She is frankly a pretty messy/disorganized/forgetful person and frequently leaves the kitchen and living room (common areas) a mess with used dishware, crumbs/pieces of food on the couch, remnants all over the stove, dirty dishes in the sink for days, etc. I have also witnessed her several times leave meat/dairy out unrefrigerated for hours and then eat it. I do not want ANY person to eat straight out of my jar almond buttesour cream with a spoon, or out of a bag of my shredded cheese with unwashed hands - even if it is a tiny bit. I have always been very aware and intentional of my food safety.
Thank you to everyone who shared their personal ED struggles. As mentioned I have definitely had my own journey toward a healthy relationship with food. After posting, I realized this situation may be particularly triggering to me as I believe my dad has a long history of what I think is binge-eating tendencies. As many suggested, I set a boundary with my roommate but also tried to be compassionate.
To those saying I should tear her down from being in an MLM - I don't think this would be productive in any way. Don't get me wrong I have consumed a lot of anti-MLM content and agree they are pretty universally bad. Yet I know those involved in these scammy companies sometimes view naysayers as fuel to strengthen their bond with their 'team'. I'm not touching on this with her.
Some recommended buying a mini fridge or a fridge lock box. I won't personally be doing this for my case but both good ideas. I didn't know they made fridge lockboxes, including this in the event it is helpful to anyone reading this in a similar scenario.
As far as leaving a review - I'm still torn on what to do. I rented this place through a service similar to Airbnb in which you are strongly encouraged to leave reviews. I've used it 5 times before and honestly have never had to give less than 5/5 stars. The food is a problem but also she is very messy and often dirty as well. As someone who is super neat/organized and cannot sleep if there are dishes in the sink and counters aren't wiped down - I would really struggle to give even 4/5 stars. I am not sure if I can in good faith give a highly positive review. I am considering leaving no review, but in the event I do u/fourpuns gave me a good idea. To include the line "occasionally ate food I had purchased but always replaced it." Short, sweet, truthful, not malicious. I would never ever go into detail or 'out her'.
To those saying I should poison her with hot sauce, laxatives, cayenne, etc.... BE F'IN FOR REAL. That is illegal and dangerous to both of us. This is a PERSON that is struggling. You don't kick someone while they are down. Despite us not being a great match roommate-wise, she is a warm and kind person that has tried her best to make me feel welcomed in many other ways. I truly wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward.
I am moving out in a week since my contract is ending, so I have a feeling there will not be any more food problems. This has been an eye-opening experience. I hope I handled as kindly as I possibly could have while respecting my own needs. If all else fails, I like to reframe uncomfortable/difficult scenarios as something one can use in job interviews to answer 'tell me about time you faced a problem and how you fixed it.' 🤷‍♀️
Would love to hear from survivors, dietitians, or counselors in the ED sphere for ideas on how to help an acquaintance who is struggling with their relationship with food. Open to constructive criticism for any tips on how I could have used better language in our convo. For myself and others as a reference.
Thank you all!!

Has this happened before?
I’m not sure if she’s eaten anyone else’s food before. She didn’t eat anything of mine for the first month or 6 weeks I lived here. I needed to say something because it was bothering me.
Mini Update Next Day in Comments:
I just know she was so upset last night and hiding away I feel so bad about that! But thankfully she’s up and at it and more chipper today :)

2024.05.11 18:54 CoveredDrummer Mentorship (My apologies if this isn’t the place for this)

Alright, here goes nothing…
I am 46 and the industry I am currently in is dying. It is being run into the ground by private equity and my options for advancement get more and more bleak as the wheel grinds on. In addition to this, the business can be physically taxing and I cannot hang at 46 like I did at 26 or even 36.
In my role(s) as a business administrator, I had the good fortune of working with an excellent insurance broker who helped me get the affairs of our business straight and in a better place. I got to see first hand the transition from a crappy agent to an exceptional one and how important that is to a client.
So, in thinking about career switching, my mind went to insurance. The broker mentioned above was kind enough to speak with me for a couple of hours and we both agreed this could be a great fit for me. He recommended me some first steps and agreed to help when he can, once I’m licensed and ready to go.
I am currently about half way through the Kaplan Life and Health course. I must say, I am enjoying learning the material more than I thought I would. I am really looking forward to finishing up and seeing what I’m made of. I believe in the importance of the industry and its products and I believe I can make a difference in people’s lives.
But… I am no spring chicken. I cannot afford to waste a bunch of time making foolish, rookie mistakes. My friend will help me, no doubt, but I do not want to exhaust that resource or impose on his time any more than necessary. So, I’m looking to make contacts and find other resources that I can look to with “stupid” questions as I get things going. Additionally, I feel it would be beneficial to have some influence from outside of the same state, with the thought that we would likely not ever be direct competitors.
If you’ve got any ideas, if you’re willing to be an ear every now and then, or if you feel like maybe this will help you repay some debt to society you owe… feel free to hit me up.
Thank you in advance!
PS: I am experienced enough in life to know that negativity kills the soul and that opinions are like assholes…
PPS: I have no interest in joining you MLM.

So after my post about a week ago. I actually did make a GIM account with 3 snowflake ironman all played by me, hence snowball account. Don't know if that's been said before but I made me chuckle. Anyway, I shall now introduce daRobins. (names are hard shut up)
1 TimmiDrake- this is the skiller extraordinaire. Spent some time getting him WT ready so he could provide some food/resources/cash for the other two, he also has anglers from trawler and is tempeross ready but it is not his time for that, but now he has just finished the dig site and since the MLM got its update yesterday he is sitting in there and will be climbing the mining levels with the intention of being able to make ammunition/craft all the jewelry that the other two need. He will also going back to WT as needed to get more resources as needed when the 3rd account gets teleports in house and can make home tabs I will also give Timmi the opportunity of being the farming chump.
2 JacyTodd- the man the myth the...sociopath? An 807 with the sole purpose is to slay. The skill slayer that is. He is combat focused and spent the majority of time doing the quests he can like Waterfall and the like but is also focused on magic just having hit high alchs he started breaking even at ogress warriors and instead of being a gold drain has started helping fun the other ones. But now all 3 accounts are semi established he will be revisiting his purpose soon by really getting into the slayer grind for gear upgrades and those sweet monster drops.
3 DickyGrayson- this is the account I was most indecisive/frustrated with. I wasn't sure what account type I wanted I had a couple options. Such as making him just a main ironman to be funneled but that defeats the Snowball style of the whole group so I was stumped. I initially decided a 1 green log at a time type account knowing he could spend a lot of time dry somewhere and it'd be OK because I have 2 other accounts, but then I made my first mistake. I was wc in preparation to do wt for a green log while at 10hp and being unfamiliar with forestry (I dislike wc and never participated really) I though all the collection log slots had to be bought so I wasn't worried and figured I'd get a head start on the grind while I worked to wt. Then I got a collection log slot in the form of a bee hive part. So I was then stuck doing forestry to green log. Did 11-60 with a steel axe before I was able to buy a rune axe and continue on. And I was looking at forestry collection log and the forestry outfit requires Redwood logs to complete. Which means I'd be chop chop chopping until 90 wc at least and that's not even counting the random event items like the whistle and the egg. So it's a bit of a grind for sure. The only other account I can think to do with this or would like to do is a pet hunter. Using the 807 as a booster I could dolo a lot of bosses for an increased drop rate of pets for sure. But it feels like if I change the account focus I'd be ruining the integrity. So I'm not sure what to do here. He basically has done nothing but wc since he spawned. So that's my progress in 6 days (I work a busy job lol) and I don't know what to do with that 3rd account.

2024.05.11 18:44 TasteSolid5666 How "GET RICH" and "SELF IMPROVEMENT" books are making poor and middle class staunch supporters of capitalism

Update: I am already getting good response from this post. I didn't expected this. If mods think this post is helpful then kindly add it in our wiki or pin it whatever is useful.

.
I write essays on such topics. I have started with feminism but india mods removed it for some reason maybe some sigma male's sentiments got hurt lol.
This will be debated heavily by RW and capitalist bootlickers. They'll crosspost this and use "🤡" emojis to falsify and further bootlick the capitalists more. In fact this post will be used to manipulate people with arguments like "this is to manipulate you to stay poor, they don't want to see you become rich"

This post is not just for India but entire world. So read and if you like it, crosspost or copy paste in your country's sub. If you're NRI or foreigner. Socialism movement is focused on entire world not just selected countries.

.
PS: This is not just about books. This is about books, courses basically whole "get rich" "improve your life" movement.
This is particularly about the books of self improvements which are teaching people to become rich. Best and only example I'm going to use here is *Rich dad poor dad by Robert Kiyosaki** because it's famous and had become one of the core books in "get rich" "self improvement" category.*
This is not about the books like "You can't break me" (by David Goggins) which are based on improving physical health and discipline. This is real self improvement. I'm only talking about books which are based on "helping people to get rich".
The book of Robert Kiyosaki has become core book and it in one way manipulates the people by making points like "capitalism isn't bad" and the way he defends it is by saying "Your mindset makes you poor" and so the person starts thinking about capitalism and economy/GDP more.
Whenever you see poor people after reading this book your mind says "They are poor because of their mindset. They don't support or take part in govt scemes which are based on capitalism and grow economy. The more economy grows the more they can become rich but they don't want to."
You start supporting capitalist ideologies and schemes by govt only made for people who are already richest. In hope that you will become like them too. Supporters of Elon Musk are exactly like that. And this virus got spread in India too. Because such books hit hard in countries where gap between rich and middle class is big. If you earn more than Rs.25,000 in India you become top 10% this is why.
Robert argues that poor mindset makes you poor and keeps you in middle class. He himself failed in his business and his business partner looted him and ran away. He himself confessed that. Idk if he told the name of his business partner. I think he himself was responsible and is blaming on someone else.
Let's believe if he had a partner who cheated on him. If he has the so called "rich mindset" why didn't he invested in other assets to save himself from fraud? Why didn't he started more businesses or so called "passive income streams" like dividend stocks.
He further goes ahead and even invited Donald Duck Trump on his show which made audience support capitalism more and idiolise rich people. No one "likes" likes rich people. They like rich people because they want to have the same lifestyle like them. So they start supporting such ideologies in hope that they'll be like this too.
Donald Duck said in one speech that the last thing america needs is socialism. And few of other capitalists coined the term "commies" for such socialist ideologies. Most people don't know the difference between socialism and communism. Communism is far from impossible in today's society. Socialism is the only way to save the whole world from becoming a capitalist society. Because of it's improved arguments and justice for everyone. Indians like always follow everything american and the right wing guys use same terms from US for arguing with me. One of my old classmate said to me "Stop arguing such bs from your parents basement" 😭😭 bruh Indian homes don't have a basement. Other Indian rw clown on internet said that leftist also indulges on pseudoscience when I asked him what is it he said "Witchcraft" 😭😭 which was in Europe. How atmanirbhar bharat is so atmanirbhar that they can't come up with own arguments? Atleast use the arguments based in India.
Leftists at that time didn't supported pseudoscience of witchcraft but they stood for human rights as persecution of witchcraft practitioners was on rise in 18th 19th century. Read it yourself.
Coming to point. Same bootlicking is seen by Indians of Ambani Adani. The common arguments are "These policies are also supporting commin citizens but since they don't know how to use it and only Ambani and Adani are brilliant enough to use it they became more rich stop crying and improve your mindset 🤡"
The massive population turns to capitalists and now they support layoffs, increasing work hours (Narayan babu bhaiya Murthy), lower pay.
The capitalists have more power than socialists because every billionaire is capitalist and few of themost crooked own the media houses. This article by business insider cited Sundar Pichai (saar our Indian google ceo saar don't say anything to him saar) saying that why is google doing layoffs more. The article is so beautifully crafted that if Marx read this he would have turned a capitalist and write a book "Rich dictator poor democracy" and called in Putin for a podcast.
https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/news/google-ceo-sundar-pichai-explains-why-hes-not-doing-layoffs-in-one-fell-swoop-but-in-stages/amp_articleshow/109988979.cms
Narayan Murthy wants people to work for 70 hours while the salaries of his employees haven't grown parallel with inflation rate. Whereas our ministers salaries have increased with parallel or even 1%-3% to the interest rate.
My uncle (mama, mother's brother) worships the book "Rich dad poor dad" and he blames grandfather (nanaji, mother's father) for being poor and teaching him poor mindset. Today my mama because of this rich mindset is a successful Platinum level seller of Herbalife products (for those who don't know it's a MLM company). He is so invested in that because all the herbalife does is show the conferences of rich people in their meetings. And later dance on "Kar har maidan fateh" song from Sanju [translation, conquer the battle fields]. He reads other books too which made him more invested. He owned 2 shops in city which were bringing him the actual passive income of 1-2 lakhs every month but since he had to frequently travel and manage it daily he sold them to earn "passive income" according to Herbalife. He is now making loss and his argument is that "all startups make losses in first few years".
The media houses in US play special programs targetting socialists terming them as capitalists again as they don't know the difference. The programs are like "How commies are destroying economy" "How commies policies don't let you become rich".
See my argument with Socialist and Capitalist schemes/policies is that:
"Capitalist policies will definitely help you beocme rich but your winning chances are 0.001% and if you lose you're screwed forever, you'll be paying loans emi entire life by working as employee in some company with lower wage since you supported such schemes."
"Socialist policies don't discuss about if you will becomes rich or not. But if you fail they'll definitely help you live a peaceful life with minimum wage so that even if you fail you'll be able to survive by working as employee in other companies."
Best example is recent video on Instagram from New Zealand influencer who said that MacDonald employee in New Zealand can afford a big mac meal at same if they work for 1 hour (idk the exact number so someone please cite the resource) but for Indian McDonald's employee you'll have work 8 hours at McDonald's to afford one big mac (also maharaja mac).
The arguments in comments were frustrating and hilarious. Someone said it's necessary and someone argued with inflation and PPP ratio and currency rate. Most common argument comments were "In India MacDonalds is considered as luxury while in other countries it's not. If you want to make conparison in India then conpare it with vada pav or udupi restaurant rates." First of all for such people the my main point is that IT SHOULDN'T BE A LUXURY IN INDIA. That's the point, McDonald's is considered cheap food in other countries and here it should be cheap too. Second argument was for big mac meal not for vada paav and Udupi. We can't conpare western food with Indian food. It's totally bs.
Robert's book gave rise to many influencers who started their own courses on how to become rhch but they never disclosed their business. There is new guy on youtube in India only. Ishan Gupta or Sharma something. He literally picks up the twitter threads and makes videos on it no orginal content. I observed it myself. When chatgpt 4 was released the guy on twitter asked gpt to be ceo of business and asked it to start a business, which he did and made money from it. This ishan guy picked it up made a video and didn't mention guy with original idea and said that he himself tried this to make money by asking gpt to start business. About 1-3 years ago he was invited to my cousin's college. There are many more examples but this guys annoy me as my relatives put these guys status on whastapp. My mama puts Robert Kiyosaki status and my cousin puts that fake rich youtuber guy's status.
Robert Kiyosaki mentions his so called "rich dad" but never revealed his name or he did idk. But he had a rich dad to support him to start a business. Or maybe he never had anyone in his life and he's also such capitalist manipulated american whi write book on how to become rich to make money with that book. Our Robert Kiyosaki is Ankur Warikoo. He sells the courses but his startup "Nearbuy" app has 2.5 or 3 star ratings on play store and is basically non working now or has decreased in customer base. The only people who can become richer are already rich people (or upper middle class who make 3L+ per month) or super gifted people who later become rich crooks.
All the "mindset" debate manipulates the people to become staunch supporters of capitalism which literally controls RW. "Your mindset is making you poor". I was an intern in a manufacturing company in summer in my college. I was paid 5000 stipend which was fair for an intern. I was working in engineering dept. my main work was with the engg team who sit in office above the factory production area. I used to visit production lines for analysing and making reports. In that time I became friends with many people there. I used to travel with them in same bus to my home. I found out that most of them are from bpl. The rent of their room which is 300sq ft is 700 per month per person. 5 people in 1 room. Most of them were living away from their homes but few ones had families and used to live with them and some were sole earners of family.
These workers' salaries were in range of 10,000 to 20,000 per month. No increment. One guy told me that they were given only 1 holiday on diwali. The alternate shifts were made. One team came on first day and other team came on 2nd day during diwali. Me and my team had holidays on Saturdays and Sundays. Flexible timings 3 to 5 in evening, you can leave at anytime. The salary of CEO was 2crore pa. He used 2 different cars for traveling provided by company itself not his own car. One is toyota camry (60L+) and other is mercedes suv (75L+). His increment in salary (as account dept told me) in last 10 years is 110% along with bonuses if company gets another project and owners are happy with progress. Meanwhile workers have same salaries since many years. The company is MNC and they shifted their focus on maximising production in India since China is also becoming too much "woke" for them. Yeah "woke" is another term from US capitalism society which our low life Indian bootlickers also use to define the movements of social justice for them.
Rakesh Jhunjhunwala is known as legendary investor but he made his most money during bear money shorting the market. And he already got money from his some relative or acquaintance about 25L at that time to trade stocks. He was working with other market guys making money on cycles with insider tips. Everyone knows this. Later he made smart investments of course. I am not saying his entire wealth is fraud but I'm saying that he had tons of money to start with. 1% return every month on trade is achievable in market, 1% of 25L is still 25k and in that time 25k was more than enough to survive.
Socialism isn't going to make you rich. But you'll definitely have the luxury of leaving a peaceful life and chances of this is 100%.
Capitalism "allows" you to become rich but chances are 0.001% and if you fail you become another prey for it.
If you think this is a "woke" post I'll use same argument as bhakts. "Go to paxtan and see how capitalism and dictatorship ruined their country."
While there are few good thing about these get rich movements. They say that education system is flawed and makes us work for other people. Yes it's true. My entire engg syllabus was designed on how I can become a good workeemployee for a company. How I can maximise the profits and make rich share holders more rich.
If this post gets traction and rw reads this. I can already sense the comments like "This guy already failed in business. Or failed to start a business. People like them will keep you poor this mindset has to go."

2024.05.11 08:23 reidebleu When and how do you tell yourself your expenditure is still just right? (Long text ahead)

I'm 19F with a decent salary for myself that just moved out from a home and considers even a cone of ice cream a luxury, that we tend to only have one every 6 months or never at all that year — since my parents do not allote a budget AT ALL for our (just us, their children's) wants but we were in the lower middle class. We had high-end devices and a consistent wifi subscription, which our parents treated as the sole "expensive" things we'll have in their care.
Long story short, I always believed that wants (budget for gala, eating out, etc.) should only be for the rich rich. As in for those who can afford to be in mansions or just at least have a car. I recently moved out since the life they're expecting us to have was to wait until they leave the earth until we can do what we want, since they have this business and network where they can earn from home without much credentials, just connections (my mother is prominent in the business and medical field). I won't deny that they earn decently, but it didn't sit right with me that they expected us to waste our youth, not study, and just soak in their (note: potential) wealth. They refused to send me to college, my brothers (18 and 12) haven't finish SHS and Elementary respectively either.
You might be thinking, who wouldn't want to just do nothing in their life? But the thing is I can see for myself that it's not sustainable, especially when I suddenly learned one day that my father has debt. His main source of money is MLM. My mother is the only one earning through traditional means, all while being sick and having to endure my father's babbling with confidence in that godforsaken scheme. Meaning to say, there's no guarantees since it feels like my mother is a positive number and my father is permanently a negative number. That became my breaking point, since he mistreats us and always speaks about money which is ironic since he seems to be having a problem with it himself. This is also not the first time he had debt, and the last time, it costed us our house. That's another thing, we were just renting a house as well and before that was the first time I saw my mother cry because of my father's awful life decisions. These things became my calling to move out, find a job, and help my siblings study. (I'm thinking of applying to PUP though, I qualified to take an exam this month and I'm sure I can work while studying since this is not the first).
Currently, I'm doing the rule of the thumb which is budgeting with 50-30-20... But I'm starting to feel guilty, even if I reached the point that my savings are larger than my wants (instead of the usual). Due to my upbringing, it's difficult for me to even think of things I want but my lover helps me a lot with taking care of myself and my inner child. In fact, 40% of my first two salaries went to savings... But perhaps due to low costs in my area, I can afford so many enjoyable things even with just 20% of my salary which unsettled me.
With my current cashflow and budgeting, I can send my 18-year old brother back to school this upcoming school year... Our plan was to work together first before sending our youngest one to school, since we think he still requires psychological help due to trauma related to studying induced by our father. But something still doesn't feel right. I feel like I shouldn't spend on my wants since I have these responsibilities, but others have been telling me that I should treat myself too. Even my mother agrees, but her encouragement only reminded me of what they're enduring since they're still around our father. Should I just remove my wants on my budgeting or learn to accept things as they are, that it'll just get better in time?

2024.05.11 00:09 Left-Worry1499 Network Marketing Scam in Dallas Texas (Legacy Galvanized) - Business of the 21st Century "assigned" reading

I am making this post to warn others about a "company" called Galvanized Legacy (really a cover for Amway). Very similar story to others in the antiMLM thread, but wanted to specifically call this out in Dallas. This happened in May 2024.
I was approached by a guy named David around my age (25-30yo) that I have never seen before the LA Signature Club off Haskell in Dallas West Village area. He asked something about my work out technique and would not stop yapping about mentorship and financial freedom, but would NEVER say the name of the company, or give me the website - nothing! He put on the nice guy, Christian family man act and we exchanged numbers. He texted me a few hours later that afternoon and asked to set up a call to talk more about his "mentorship" thing. It was all very vague and "goal oriented" "family oriented" "time is money" BS without any mention of the business model or how it works for the first couple of calls we had.
I'm not a moron - knew this guy was a scam artist the second he mentioned "you need to meet my mentor, her name is Tali". Our first phone call was a sales ploy to get me to talk the whole time (aka gets the person he's talking with to like him) where he showed me five slides on a PPT deck made by a 5th grader with no company title or information other than fake numbers of "The Potential" and generic online products of "Our Market" like skin care, cosmetics, body care (which of course is a SATURATED market with little to no ROI) but he claimed these lines were chosen as they are "recession proof" - HA!
At the end of our first call - David assigned me to read "Business of the 21st Century" written by Robert T. Kiyosaki (2b in debt) about how great Networking Marketing is... lol which is the 2024 term for MLM/Pyramid Scheme. "You would make 94% off the product, I would make 6%" is what he told me.... but not once was I shown any product website or annual distribution statement.
I couldn't help myself but play along all the way through until after the 2nd call haha. He called the week after our first call and asked how I liked the book and if I wanted to come meet his mentor and team from 8-9pm next week on Tuesday, May 14th 2024 by the galleria (would not give me a direct location/address at this point), but couldn't bring it to call him out over the phone because I'm just too nice of a guy I guess/hate confrontation in general so I try to avoid if I can... So after we chatted for about 10 min, I texted and asked for a product website and annual distribution statement for the 2nd time. He replied with "Haha okay don't come then".
So I blocked his number and decided to take the high road to post to Reddit instead lol. Stay far far away from these people and their pyramid scheme "company" called Galvanized Legacy (aka a cover for Amway). Especially if you live in Dallas, The Woodlands, or any surrounding areas in Texas!
The End hahaha

2024.05.10 20:18 Development-Feisty Live Shows and Toxic MLM Culture

Is anyone else seeing these live shows as basically being some of the most toxic parts of the multilevel marketing culture from the past couple decades?
There is a Luluroe documentary out right now and I can’t help but think how much of what I’m hearing about going on in live shows feels so much like the people involved are the same people who fall for MLM‘s or get involved with MLM‘s
What do you think?
