2024.05.14 14:44 CellistRealistic4311 Need internet wisdom

Hi all,
This is my very first post and English is not my native language. Please forgive me for any errors.
I admit I don't really know what to expect from this post, creating mainly to let off steam.
It might be quite long haha. So me (24M) and my ex (24F) were together since we were 17.
So we have met in high school. We quickly decided to stay together despite studying in different cities. To be honest we never had a real argument during our 6 and a half years of relationship. Small arguments about boundaries that should not be crossed and which were resolved in a healthy way.
To give some context. My ex has an alcoholic mother and a father who more or less abandoned her at a young age but eventually came back. She also comes from a much more difficult economic background than me.
I am lucky to have a very united and supportive family. We also have no money problems and are there to help us in difficult times.
After a few months of dating, I very quickly integrated my ex into my family. We hosted all the parties at our house, my parents took her on trips with us, and I always did my best to help her in her life (picking her up from work, bringing her meals when she finished work, I took the train every weekend to see her in her city).
She always said that I was an excellent, even perfect boyfriend. I have always proven my loyalty and my love for her. She still seemed extremely happy with it and was a bit boastful about it haha. We ended up moving in together in 2022.
This is where we had our first real problems. Since she had no financial support from her parents, she had to work at the same time as her studies. She was naturally very tired physically and mentally. Personally, at that time I really didn't like my studies and I was very stressed because 1 year later I had to find my first job.
Our first arguments therefore revolved around personal investment in cleaning and maintaining the house. I was never really satisfied with her investment. We had a few arguments but we got there in the end. I naturally relaxed with my reduction in stress and I realized that I had a tendency to want to control my environment during my stressful periods. So I made an effort and things got better.
From summer 2023, we changed apartments and I had my first internship and then my first job. With a significant salary, I told her to stop working and focus on her studies (she repeated her year once because her work took up too much of her time).
So, I took care of everything and I gave her €400 per month so that she could continue to live a normal life. In September 2023, she started to go to her business school and I start to see some personality change.
For more context, I am a very introverted person. I have never smoked, never tried drugs, never gone to nightclubs and I drink very little. I spend my free time playing PC, role-playing games or playing sports. My ex was also very introverted, she loves reading at home while drinking coffee. She went out once every full moon to have a drink with her best friend.
But, once she arrived at her new school, she started going out more often, going to nightclubs (in 6 years she must have gone 3 times). She also started smoking an electronic cigarette.
The fateful moment was at the end of January 2024. As part of her studies, she had to go to Barcelona for 3 months. I was very happy for her knowing that we had already established a long-distance relationship (however, it was me who left and she stayed in our hometown).
The beginning went very well but she ended up joining a shared accommodation in February. From there, she started going out 3 or 4 times a week. She went out to a nightclub with roommates except the girls whom decided to go home and she decided to go only with the boys (I never met them and she only knew them for two weeks). I admit that I may be a little old-fashioned and I consider that the nightclub is necessarily a place of seduction (not that my ex wanted to seduce but she was inevitably going to be hit on). I didn't say anything about it but she quickly understood that I didn't like it. I told her that I wouldn't forbid her anything but I found that knowing me she could suspect that I wouldn't like it.
So we had a change that I found radical in her personality. She went out a lot more. Not to exonerate myself, but it was also a difficult time for me. Again for context, I usally give off the impression of someone who always knows what I do, what I want and who I am. However, during this period I was externally uncomfortable in my skin. I had problems in my job and I was overall very stressed and I had very little self-confidence (which had almost never happened in 6 years).
Coming back to my ex, I noticed this personality change and became increasingly dissatisfied with our call times, the amount of messages and generally the amount of attention she gave me. So we had a lot of disagreements over that. She told me that I was suffocating her, that I was too controlling (again I never told her that I didn't want her to go out or stop having a relation with one of her roommates (my instinct really told me that something was going on with one of her roommates but I didn't know who was the main actor in this potential flirtation).
She started lying to me about insignificant things (she ended up telling me that she was lying to me so I wouldn't get angry???) but I became more and more controlling. Big argument after an evening where she told me she was going home to sleep but I saw her in the club with the localisation of her phone. She offered me a break, I got really angry for the first time in our relationship. For me a break means a breakup (it may be stupid but with everything that was happening that's what seemed to happen to me).
After my outburst (no insults and barely raised my voice (I don't know how to get angry lol)), she came to join me to try to repair things (I was very happy). However, we argued for 8 days, sometimes things went well but it remained tense. Also I saw her staying on her phone every night when I went to bed. I found it too weird. I finally broke down and looked at her messages (first time in 6 years), I found exchanges between them. Nothing blatant but I personally find them flirting. At least she spoke to him the same way she spoke to me at the beginning of our relationship.
She ended up returning to Barcelona and we made small promises to improve the relationship. But once she got back to Barcelona she didn't answer me all day. I blamed her a bit for that and set a little trap for her (it's not good, I know). I told her that I didn't like this guy (I didn't tell her to cut contact (I've had already cut contact with girls that my ex didn't like)). And I told her not to talk to him about this discussion (she talked to him about it that same evening). I asked her if she had told him and she told me that she hadn't told him anything. So I told her “we’ll probably have to separate” and then she left and didn’t want to hear anything more. I told her right away that I loved her and that I didn't want to break up but that I didn't know what to do anymore given her behavior.
So we parted ways. I went back and forth between « I love you more than anything » and « I have to cut you out of my life to move forward ». She told me to leave her alone while she figured out what was happening while saying that in any case it was over. I couldn't leave her alone to think. I learned through a TikTok that she had kissed this famous roommate…. I also had to manage all the administrative formalities alone...
I did everything to heal in the healthiest way possible (sport, therapy, seeing my friends and family). I didn't fall into a band-aid relationship, I didn't fall into alcohol, parties or other palliatives.
It will now be a little over 2 months since we have been separated. I accepted it, I still love her even if her behavior disgusts me. And I find it hard not to blame her for not knowing how to help me during this period (even though she obviously tried even if it was never enough for me).
I admit I'm still a little lost. I still love her even if I don't necessarily want to get back with her. I returned to work, I continue to exercise but the lack of physical and emotional affection is a bit difficult. Having to start all over again seems so difficult to me, I admit that I don't like the culture of one-night stands. I want to get married and have children. I'm a little lost and don't really know what to expect from this post. If you have any advice, explanations for her behavior or need more details, don't hesitate.
Thank you.

2024.05.14 01:05 jankosrcka Citroen DS3 making weird noises when it turns on and when I turn the lights on/off

It started happening recently, I'm pretty sure it has to be something with electronics. I am not certain if the noise is coming from the speakers or not. Here is the video of me turning the calights on and off, and it making weird sounds. Any help is appreciated 👍🏻. I've already posted to Citroen and someone asked me if it was a prank, sadly it isn't. After the recording I went to the gas station to get cigarettes, and I drove with higher rpm than usually because I was a bit frustrated because of this problem. When I returned home and tried again to turn the lights on/off it worked normally. Now I don't really know how rpm may have affected this, but I'm still not satisfied because I'm looking for a permanent fix (the problem happened earlier and it stopped, but not with the lights). As I said above any help is appreciated.

HOW TO VAPE: Best guide for beginners
https://preview.redd.it/z9ehn4tis60d1.png?width=946&format=png&auto=webp&s=e330241c585f10dba6773891fd2c5d807b0c19f8
Vaping has become a popular alternative to smoking, with many people choosing it for various reasons including as a method to quit smoking. Here's a comprehensive guide for beginners interested in vaping, covering the basics, types of devices, flavors, and some general advice on pricing, specifically with a nod to the market in Pakistan.

1. Understanding Vaping

  • Vaping involves inhaling a vapor created by an electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) or other vaping device. These devices heat a liquid to generate an aerosol, commonly called vapor, that the user inhales.
  • E-liquids or vape Flavours is the fluid used in vapor products to create the actual vapor. It can contain nicotine, Propylene Glycol (PG), Vegetable Glycerin (VG), flavorings, and water.

2. Types of Vaping Devices

  • Cig-A-Likes (First Generation): Look like traditional cigarettes and are very simple to use, making them a good starting point for beginners.
  • Vape Pens (Second Generation): Slightly larger than cig-a-likes, offering better battery life and the ability to change flavors more easily.
  • Mods (Third Generation): Offer the most powerful experience with customizable settings, but can be complex for beginners.
  • Pod Systems: Compact and easy-to-use devices that use a pod instead of a traditional tank. Suitable for beginners due to their simplicity and convenience.

3. Choosing Your Vape Juice

  • Flavors: There's a wide variety of flavors available, from traditional tobacco and menthol to fruit, dessert, and beverage flavors.
  • Nicotine Strength: E-liquids come in various nicotine strengths. If you're trying to quit smoking, you might start with a higher nicotine content and gradually reduce the strength.
  • PG vs. VG: PG provides more flavor but less vapor, while VG is more viscous and produces more vapor but might carry less flavor. A mix of both provides a balanced experience.

4. Disposable Vapes

  • Convenience: Disposable vapes are pre-filled devices that can be thrown away after use. They're incredibly convenient but can be more expensive in the long run.
  • Flavors and Nicotine: They come in many flavors and nicotine strengths, making them a good option for trying different options without commitment.

5. Vape Price in Pakistan

  • Pricing can vary widely depending on the device type, brand, and where you purchase it. In Pakistan, you can expect the following approximate ranges:
    • Cig-A-Likes and Vape Pens: PKR 1,000 - 5,000
    • Mods: PKR 5,000 - 15,000+
    • Pod Systems: PKR 2,500 - 7,000
    • Disposable Vapes: PKR 500 - 2,000 per device
  • Prices for e-liquids or vape juices also vary, but you can expect to spend around PKR 500 - 1,500 for a 30ml bottle, depending on the brand and flavor.

6. Tips for Beginners

  • Start Simple: Begin with a straightforward device like a pod vape or cig-a-like to get used to the experience.
  • Safety First: Purchase your vaping equipment from reputable sources to avoid counterfeit products.
  • Hydration: Vaping can cause dehydration, so drink plenty of water.
  • Maintenance: Regularly clean your device to ensure the best performance and flavor.

7. Legal and Health Considerations

  • Be aware of the legal age for vaping in your area and any regulations regarding vape use.
  • Vaping, while considered less harmful than smoking cigarettes, still carries health risks, particularly concerning nicotine addiction.
Remember, if you're vaping as a way to quit smoking, it's advisable to have a plan to reduce your nicotine intake gradually. Vaping should be seen as a step towards quitting nicotine use entirely, not a permanent substitute. Always consult with a healthcare provider for personalized advice, especially if you have underlying health conditions.

2024.05.13 01:13 latebutstillearly1 Boarding School

My parents were strict growing up. In particular, my sister and I had a tightly enforced curfew - no going out after 6PM. As a homebody who preferred to read in my room, I didn't mind much.
My older sister Jasmine hated it. She misbehaved frequently, stayed out late and made friends our parents didn't approve of. Dad would lock her in the house when she came back from school, and she would throw ear splitting tantrums that gave everyone headaches. The more they tried to control her, the more she rebelled, until she became an absolute menace. We fought a lot too - she spat in my food at the dinner table, and I pulled her hair in return. My parents would scream at her to stop and stand in the corner for an hour as punishment. They threatened that if her behavior continued, they would send her away to a boarding school for difficult children, where the punishments wouldn't be as kind.
The final straw came when I was ten and Jasmine was fourteen. Mom found a pack of cigarettes in Jasmine's room. She came to us at the dinner table.
"Jasmine," she said calmly, holding up the pack. "What is this?"
I saw the color drain from Jasmine's face. She'd gotten them from an older boy at school. Her expression cycled through fear, dread, denial then rage in a few seconds. A violent argument broke out.
"Fuck you!" She screamed, "They're mine and you bet I'm gonna smoke them! You can't fucking tell me what to do!"
My parents decided it was time to play their final card. It was boarding school, or getting disowned and put up for adoption. They had enough, and as she was becoming older, taller and more violent, they were starting to become concerned for the family's safety. She had little choice, and a month later, dad took her on a flight to the boarding school. I don't remember many details about it from listening to their conversations. I just picked up the fact that it was in a hilly area in a far away state, and they took discipline seriously there. No technology, makeup or drugs were allowed, there was a strict daily schedule beginning at 5AM and ending at 9AM sharp, and those who broke the rules were served their just desserts.
"See ya in fifty years," I taunted, "enjoy being a nun."
She stuck her tongue out at me and flipped me the middle finger. She disappeared, and the front door slammed shut.
The home was much quieter thereafter. I liked it at first. No more fighting over stuff and screaming around the house. But over time, it got lonely, especially on the evenings and weekends. I now felt like an only child.
Despite our differences, Jas and I did have a few good laughs over dumb Youtube videos on the odd occasion. Three months had passed since she had left, but the entire time I never heard my parents call Jas or the school for updates. I asked about Jas a couple times after a few months.
"Is she coming back?" I asked.
"Of course, dear. She's there for a year, so she'll be back when the school year ends," she replied.
The year droned on, and half a year passed in a blink. I started taking violin lessons, and my parents even extended the curfew to let me attend late night school events. It helped me make some more friends, and the extension allowed me to stay at their houses, as long as my parents approved of them. Being accustomed to restrictions for my whole life, those allowances were a breath of fresh air. Still, I was alone in my room most of the time, and the house felt empty.
I came home from school one day and both my parents were still at work. As I went to my room and set my things down, I heard the home phone ringing from downstairs.
Taking off my coat as I walked down the stairs, I went to answer it.
"Hello?"
"HELP ME! HELP!" A shrill voice shrieked from the other end. All the hairs on the back of my neck stood up instantly as soon as I heard it, and my heart rate began to accelerate. I held the phone a little further from my ear.
"Jas?" I asked.
"Harry," she sobbed, a terrified urgency in her voice, "I need help, please. Where's mom and dad?"
"They're at work," I replied.
"Harry, I'm sorry." Her voice became quieter. "I'm sorry I spat in your vegetables. I'm sorry I called you a dumbass. Tell mom and dad I'm sorry I gave them hell. They didn't deserve all of that. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you guys, I swear."
"I know, Jas," I said, concerned, "but what's going on?"
"Oh my God, they're coming," she whimpered, "they're gonna get me, I can't run anymore. Fuck…"
I heard a loud smash and commotion on the other side, and screaming erupted from the other end of the line. Ear piercing screams that could've shattered glass. They became more intense but quieter, as if she was being dragged away from the receiver.
"No, NO! PLEASE DON'T! HELP!"
The line hung up.
Shaking, I called mom and dad immediately. When they came home, I explained what happened and thought Jas was in serious danger. Mom hurriedly called the school, and the woman on the other end explained that Jas had a tantrum earlier, but was otherwise fine and didn't want to speak to her. She took that as sufficient, and hung up. I pressed her a little, but that pissed her off.
"It's just one of her tantrums, and she's being dealt with. She's getting the help she needs. I don't want to hear you mention it again, Harry."
I never recalled Jas apologizing during a tantrum. Before then, she had never apologized once in her life. It was very out of character. I knew something wasn't right, but I couldn't do anything about it. I tried calling the unknown number back from the home phone a couple of times when my parents weren't at home, but to no avail. Three months passed. Some nights I would wake up drenched in sweat, screams ringing in my ears.
The end of the school year came, and I thought it was time for Jasmine to return home. I asked dad about her.
"They've said she's making really good progress, so she's going to stay for a few more years," he beamed.
"How do you know she's even alive?" I asked.
"What kind of question is that?" He laughed. "She spoke to us herself, sounded like she'd grown up a lot over the past year."
She didn't come back home.
Over time, I grew accustomed to being alone. Mom and dad never talked about Jas again. They acted as if she never existed, and for some reason, I never dared to ask. Perhaps I would've forgotten I ever had a sister, if it weren't for the periodic nightmares of that phone call which returned to haunt me every few weeks. When I turned eighteen, I moved out and went to college. As soon as I left home, the nightmares returned with a vengeance, revisiting almost every night.
Back when I was ten, after mom had called the boarding school following the horrific phone call, she left her phone on the kitchen table and I saw the number. I didn't note it down, but it was one of those that was easy to remember. I specifically remember thinking it was odd that a number had such a long string of fives.
One night in my dorm, I tried to recall the number, typing several possible combinations into my phone keypad and tapping the call button. After a few invalid attempts, I was surprised to finally get through to someone.
"Hello, this is the boarding school reception," A voice came from the other end. Bingo.
"Hi there, I'd like to ask about a student who once attended your school, her name is Jasmine Collins."
There was a pause.
"What is your relation to this student?"
"I'm her brother. She attended the school about eight or nine years ago, and I haven't seen her since. Just wanted to know if you knew where she graduated to."
"I'll search the records."
"Thank you," I said. After a few minutes, she piped up again.
"Apologies, there are no records matching this name."
"Are you sure?" I frowned, "It's J-a-s-m-i-n-e C-o-l-l-i-n-s." I spelt it out.
"Nope, nothing in our system."
Silence. I grew frustrated.
"Listen," I growled quietly, "I know something happened to my sister while she was at your school. If you don't tell me exactly where she is right now, I'm going to involve the police."
"Sir, we do not appreciate unfounded accusations or threats. if you like, I can do a second search, but if nothing comes up there isn't much I can help with," she said.
"J-a-s-m-i-n-e C-o-l-l-i-n-s," I repeated, "do it."
Two minutes passed.
"My sincerest apologies," said the woman on the other end, "I indeed misspelt the name. Miss Collins was a student here until she turned eighteen. She was discharged thereafter. Would you like the address?"
A wave of relief ran through me, and my racing pulse began to ease.
"Yes please, thank you."
She gave me an address in Pennsylvania. The following Friday evening, I took a flight over and made my way to the location. It was a wide two-storey building in the middle of a well kept garden. Colorful, well trimmed rose bushes and plots of tulips lined the perimeter. There was a small fountain on the path that led up to the main entrance of the building. I expected it to be a house or block of apartments, and double-checked that the address was correct, which it was.
I walked into a reception area. Glass panels surrounded by wooden frames made up one of the walls, with a door leading to a corridor. A blonde lady was sitting at a desk, and some elderly people were talking in the corridor. There was a colorful poster on the wall.
'Celebrating our care home's 40th anniversary. Come join us for cake!'
Care home? I thought to myself, confused.
"Hi there," said the woman at the desk, in a cheery tone.
"Hello, I'm looking for my sister, someone told me she would be here."
"Name?" She asked.
"Jasmine Collins?"
She typed it, and clicked.
"Take a seat, I won't be two seconds."
She descended down the corridor, and returned a few moments later, pushing a wheelchair with someone on it. My eyes widened as she came closer.
The woman in the wheelchair had big bulging eyes, with pupils that pointed away from each other absently, and a crooked neck slanting uncomfortably to the right. Her arms and legs rested limp, feet bent in an uncomfortable position. Her thin, brittle brown hair hung from her scalp, which housed specks of dandruff. Her limbs were stick thin, but her midsection bulged slightly. She sat almost motionless as she was pushed towards me, apart from her chest, which rose as she gasped in breaths of air. A drip of saliva ran down from the side of her open mouth. She wore a pink shirt that said 'Mondays' and a blue flowery dress. There was a cannula and dressing on her left arm, and a yellow feeding tube came out of her right nostril, taped to the side of her face.
The blonde lady brought her in front of me, then flipped the brake on the wheelchair. She crouched down next to it, and stroked the woman's sparse strands of hair.
"Say hello, Jasmine," she said softly.
The woman in the wheelchair let out a long groan. I stared in disbelief, horrified.
"What happened to her?" I choked.
"She was admitted to us a few years ago, before I started working here," explained the blonde lady. "I heard she contracted bacterial meningitis at another residence, and got brain damage as a result."
"No," I said, shaking my head, my voice trembling.
"This isn't right," I continued, "something very bad has happened to her. How did she get here? Can you check the records?"
"Well, before I started working here, this place had paper records. Some of them got lost, hers was one of them, but what the staff at the time could remember was transcribed onto the new electronic system."
She reached over the desk and flipped the computer monitor around.
"Her notes here just say she was admitted at age eighteen having suffered brain damage after contracting meningitis as a teenager, and presented as quadriplegic with greatly reduced cognition and speech. She had a medical exam on admission, which confirmed this. No suspicious circumstances were reported."
"Where was she brought here from?" I asked in a panic, trying to read the text on the screen. "And by who?" The lady looked at the screen and scrolled down.
"Doesn't say," she said.
"Is that all you can find? Everything?"
She nodded. I stared for what seemed like hours, and finally broke out of my trance.
"Thank you," I croaked, rattled.
I took the handles of the wheelchair and unlocked the brake, wheeling it and the woman outside into the garden area, down the path leading to the front doors and past the fountain. I eventually stopped beside a far away bench. I sat down, still light headed.
It was a bright, sunny day. Children walked hand in hand with their elderly and disabled relatives along the green grass, admiring the roses. Some families were having picnics in the distance. A cool breeze swept by, the sound of water flowing like white noise in the background.
I looked in the woman's eyes, trying to find my sister locked inside. Her gaze shifted to meet mine. I could see in her eyes that she desperately wanted to tell me something.
"What did they do to you?" I whispered. She just stared at me, unblinking. A single tear ran down her left cheek.
When I returned to my dorm, I was angry. I wanted answers, and picked up the phone to dial mom and dad's house and ask them what they had done. Perhaps I should even call the police first, I thought, pacing up and down my room for hours, thinking about who to call and what I would say. Then I sat down on my bed, as a realization came over me.
Mom and dad had been good to me. Mom had been diagnosed with breast cancer just before I left for college, and seemed to be fighting a losing battle. Dad had lost my grandparents on his side, and was also slowly losing his eyesight. Their marriage wasn't doing too well, but they had somehow stuck it through for the family. Did I really want to do this to them now? I thought back to when I had asked dad if Jas was coming home.
"She spoke to us herself…"
I pondered what I should do next for days upon days, and I came to the conclusion of… nothing.
Call me a bad person, call me a coward, call me selfish. Believe me, I badly wanted answers to what the hell happened in that boarding school.
I just didn't want to lose anyone else.
I went to PA to visit Jas every college break, pushing her in her wheelchair down the pathways in the park surrounding the care home. Eventually, I graduated and my fiancée and got our own place. After we had settled in somewhat, we brought Jas back from the care home to live with us. I knew it we were taking on a big commitment, especially as we were planning to have a family in the near future, but somehow I felt like I owed it. My fiancée Marielle is an absolute star. She was an accountant who mostly worked from home and was happy to accommodate, which is more than most would do for a partner. Marielle even helped prepare Jas' nutrition at home, which we fed her through the NG tube, and other aspects of her care.
I came home from work one day.
"Welcome back babe," chirped Marielle. I kissed her and hung my coat up behind the door.
"How was your day?" I asked.
"Decent, same old. Did some work in the morning," she replied, "in the afternoon, I took Jas out on a walk along the river. I think… she tried to say something."
"Jas tried to speak?" I asked, intrigued.
"I think so. I listened closely, and she kept repeating something. It sounded like…" Marielle did an impression.
"Harry? Was she trying to say my name?"
She pondered for a second.
"No, I think it sounded more like, 'sorry'."

My brother has a 2004 Lexus GX470 with the navigation head unit in it. He really wants an apple carplay compatible head unit but apparently the HVAC wiring and electronics are in the navigation head unit so theres no way of getting him a new one without introducing a whole bunch of new headaches.
Are there any solid tablets out there that are apple carplay compatible and plug in through a cigarette lighter and aux cord? What do you guys run in your builds? Any info or help would be appreciated.

2024.05.12 13:24 brightonem Day 16 of no smoking after 25+ years. No coughing, no phlegm. Should I be worried?

Hello all,
Today is my 16th day I switched to nicotine free electronic cigarettes cold turkey from smoking tobacco 30 a day for 25+ years. First week was tough, but I now know my cravings are getting much less and less frequent and more manageable. Thank god there is a nicotine free vaping alternative.
I have been waiting for my lungs to cough up all the tar and other nasty stuff. But so far, no coughs, no nothing. Should I be worried, or should I feel good that my lungs were somehow keeping themselves clear?
Thank you all.

2024.05.12 06:51 Mikron_Labo The Apology Of Chris To The World Of Placebo

The Apology Of Chris To The World Of Placebo
Months ago, I wrote this post (Why Do Non-fans Hate Placebo & The Soulmates?). In it, I related my kean observations on how the outside world hates Placebo so much. For they indeed hate Brian, Stefi, the band, and the Solemates. They cast such fowel names upon us and say we are mentally untested, dirty, pale, unwell, et cetera. Because of Brian's Nancy-boy days, they assault him still, claming he is a sexy, sweaty girl who masquerades as a man with a ridiculous false mustache; and for Steff, they make him out to be the Swedish Elephant-man, although in reality, Stef is merely real tall and nothing unusual.
The enemies of Placebo compartmentalize Brian in a clear box
I then shared a story about what recently happened to me. I was at the pub in Smolensk, Brussels, where I got into a big debate about Placebo with these two nasty Englishman. They insulted the Soulmates and Brian. I, in turn, insulted their prefered hero-band, Oasis. We then had harsh words. And later, they caught me alone in the bathroom and took my body apart. It was a massive attack.
I had stood alone at the urinal when these two Englishmen quietly entered and got me. One man held me from behind, while the other man burnt my sideburn with his lit cigarette. He cupped my mouth to stiffle my scream, then knead into my balls many consecutive times. He followed with a headsbutts, right between my eyes. And then he and the other brute headbutted me back and forth as though I were but a ping-pongs ball. This went on until blood erupted from my every pores.
I bled so much and cried so much. Delusional, I shouted for Steff, "Brian's Champion," to explode from the tiled wall and kill these men. But Stef did not come because he could not hear me. (He was probably out with Brian somewhere, doing some fun activity.)
When I finally collapsed down into the toilet seat with my pants pulled down, these cruel guys glassed my abs with their broken beer bottles. I firmly resisted the urge to fight beck, and so I just kept my arms by my sides to fully receive the stabes. The pain was incredulous. Much blood and urine fell into the water below, and the tension was feverish. I screamed into the heavens with a sexy voice -- not unlike Rian Molok's voice. Because of the cuts, I had lost quarts of my fluid, and I thought I was to die. At this point, the men were satisfied with their handiwork and left me face down in the plastic basin -- a shell of a man, beaten within a milliliter of his fife.
https://preview.redd.it/pbe4vtgmdxzc1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7de83277f9522b87941bb98b87bc875f7a9d46de
Indeed, it was a thoroughly wicked battle-scenario that nearly closed my books. If not for the encourgament of Placebo, whose songs had sounded in my mind, I certainly would have died that day.
Some might see art in this merciless beating: a tragic beauty with the aroma of funerary flowers. Others might see grim eroticism in it: the homoerotic sensation of beefcakes musclemen banging up some poor French guy in a filthy bathroom. Certainly, the fight captured all these things and more. Indeed, my ordeal was a scenario worthy of Placebo. Truly, there was an honor to be had -- to get publicly beatinged in the name of Brian, Stedd, and this and that. (Truthfully, I say: I would gladly take the beat-off again in the name of Brian, the Steves, Steff, or even Robert S. I would surely die in the defence of Placebo, and with relish.)
And so, when I came on this subsboard and related this heinous shit to you, lots of you Soulmates said I was in fact wrong and that the English blokes was right. You also hershly criticize my words and called me "a stupid, a kinase," and this and that.
Indeed, I was pushed hard by some of the Soulmates. In return, I pushed back harder -- the culmination of which was my self-dismissle from this subsboard. It was a powerful statement, to be sure, and it shooked many of you people to the cord (Goodbye Placeboard. I Must Leave Forever).
Immediately after this events, I maintained the radio silence and went away as promised. However, there is more to the story. I, Chris, have now come to tell you about what had happen to me in the aftermath of our disastrous breakup. The strain almost killed me dead.

The Almost Death of Chris, Thanks To YOU Solemates

https://preview.redd.it/4mwk31iqdxzc1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0321b5c860845a06a8f5a1ef5a1b0d31223b6b33
After our big fight, I did not felt so good. Indeed, I felt so guilty -- dirty, naked, and ashmed. Truly, I felt as though I had been skinned alife and reduced to mothing but raw nerves.
I fled the town, a man on the edge of time. Without hope, I sought refuge at the derelict's pub. Therein, I consumed fart too much, and as the result, I nearly died.
I found myself lying at the bottom of the bottle. I had drunk all of its contents and then fallen within it.
When a man consumes too much alchocohol -- and adds highly concentrated powder (inhaled through the nose) -- the results is explosive. And in my case, it brought on the near-death scenario. Truly, I felt like Brian in “Special K,”
“Just like I swallowed half my mustache. Never ever gonna crash.”
\"The End Of Chris\"
I was found unconscious in the alley of the pub. I had a bottle in one hand; and in the other, I had a little Placebo comic from 1999 (a rare issue). On the back of it, I had written a little notice in black marker:
"I am dead now; leave me alone."
But whoever found me did not listen. They instead called the paramedic services.
After I was collected by these paramedics, they took me to the clinic of rehabilitation in Poultice Marsala, Charleroi, Brussles. I would remain in this reccoperation facility for the next 48 hours.
"You are most lucky you are still alife, Monsieur Chris." said the doctor. "For you were nearly without clothing and had consumed fat too much alcohol beverages. Certainly, the process could have killed you. Luckily, the curious memo you held in your hand (the Placebo comic) roused the suspicions of the constabulary. He in turn called the paramedics, who, in turn, picked you up and took you here: to this state-of-the-art Belgium Detoxification Center.”
Yes, my friends, I, Chris, was almost killed by alcohol and exposure to cool weather as I lounged, half-undressed, in the filthy alley in Belgium. If not for that Placebo comic, no one would have ever noticed my wilting body. For it was the comic, with the cover featuring the sexy art of Brian, which caught the eye of passersby, and this kind sole then called the paramedic. So, indeed, again, Placebo has saved my life. I am thankful to you, Brian & Stefan. Bless your souls.
Now, you might think that I must be pretty mad -- mad at the solemates who drove me to do bad upon my person and then almost die. No, my friends. On the contrary, I, Chris, take full responsibility for my almost undoing. It was my fault, and nobody elise.
So, I have not come to solicit your apologies for almost killing me. Instead, it is the reverse. To You, My Solemates, I apologies (just as Brane Molko profusely apologizes to the Lady of Flowers). I am sorry for the hatesful words that past between us and led to our disastrous breakup. It all fills me with regret (much like Brian, after he views his pornographic memory sex tapes in “Forever Chemicals.”)
And now that I have apologized and have been forgiven, I hereby fully resume my place on Placebo bored of directors. And now, I am hereby re-assimilated – fully reintegrated once again – into the world of Palcebo. Indeed, my name is back in the cards. I am most glad to be back.
I accept your rapaciousness, Solemates! Thank your for taking me back into the boards again! You all have my true respect and gratitute!
Oh! Merci, âme sœur!

Chapter II: Chris Praises The Good, Real, True Soulmates

My dear friends, I am constrain to be among you. Placebo is in my blood, like the disease -- but a good disease. It is shooting forth through the vain, spreading always nonstope. (It is rather like Brian’s song about his “hemogoblin,” which compels him to be a total maniac. Is it not?) My love for the Placebo and the Soledmates is just too strung to deny. This you must believe and rely upon, always.
However, there is just one thing, and it pains me to say these: not all of you guys are for real. In others words, some of you guys are scumbag enemy spies who not only hate me, Chris, but secretly hate Palcebo and the other S. mates.
Now, I have paid attention. Must of you guys on this board are indeed “goodguys.” There are so manay Soulmates whom I love. I cannot nameth you all, but here are some good guys, in no particular oder, who have helped me in many ways. You are all quite kind. I shout out to you:
u/PlasticeEuropa- Some nice girl who speaks to me in French and tells me encouraging mantras, urging me not to use chemicals, and other positive stuff such as this.
u/She'saCupCake - Some nice girl who oncogenes me when the going gets tough. Very wise; she also taught me "The Riddle of Molko" and the very simple key to lock it. And it blew my mind. I am grateful for this valuable lesson.
u/Silver_Trainer_4836- This person is a good-guy 100%. He urged me not to kilt myself when the action got too hot in Brussels. "Chris, you mustn't die," he said. "Soulmates cannot die. Go, visit your grandmother in Marseilles, and rest on her cot. Then return to Brusshles after the noises in your head die down."
And so, his reports made me become strong once more. Bless you.
u/TheJFKSociety-
You helped me greatly, man. With your comments and nice things.
Oh, and:
u/Ziggystardusts-
You have the nomenclature of Bowie, so this makes you a superlative chap. Plus, you tried to help me when I cosidered jumping off the tower like Brian in the Pure Morning music video.
u/TheLiving Master-
Not too long ago, I was in jail for a month, awaiting arraignment for some false charge -- the possession of some pill (it was legal, rest assured). And when I was confined in the penal colony, this kind woman (i am somewhat shure it was she) sent me a little hand-held game. Tiger electronics. A Game about a Ninja. And this little toy kept me well while I was in jail. It kept me healthy and bodily focused. And then, at my hearing, when I stood before the judge in the Salles de Justice, I proclamed her genuine act of kindness. And this judge was thus heartwormed and dropped the charges forthwith. So I am gretefuil to all the parties concerned.
u/Brian Swervo-
This guy has zero relation to Molko, but he is A cool guy anyways. A jazz musician and very new-wave French. He sent me clove cigarettes, and sometimes he defends me in this subarea. MErci, monsieur Swervo.
There are such much more people. However, I cannot be naming all the friends here because I am contrived for time. But you are all such great people. If Brian should happen to see you all, I guarantee you that it would melt his heart. And I say this with serenity.

Chapter IV: Chris Excoriates The False Soulmates

Bizon Looks Upon The Enemies of Chris With Scorn and Contempt
And now, having said some nice things, I must tell you about the bad thugs. For there are enemy spies amongst us who must be dealt with, with a serious hand. I shall get into this now. These pretendos claim to be "Soulmates," but they ain't, and they attack Chris with a regretful passion that rivals Hitler at the height of his pressure-gasm. These are the ones Brain complains about in his song, "Surrounded by spies."
There are two Sole mates of this subsboard whose names I will no say, but they are the worst critics of all. One guy, I know, is a powerful enemy Shaman (a huge black guy from Jamaican who works in West London). This man not only made fun of me on the subsboard but also sickened me with a demonic attack he issued from the airwaves. Devil ghosts shit from my private JVC stereo receiver at home, and the pestilence caused the UTI that I still cannot shake. And truly, I feel like I nearly was killed by this sadistic gentleman -- this spearmint voodoo tactician, who is cowardly, too. I add this because when I challenged him to hand-to-hans combat in a mutual setting, someplace unspecified in Europe, this guy just smiled wickedly. Although he is supposedly a Placebo fan, he is immensely wicked. I tell you this: Do not engage this man.
The other bad guy of whom I speak identifies himself as "a nice teacher from Kent and LGBT activist." He wears sweater vests and pretends to be kind to all; he is also quite smug and brags about his "little, modest house," which ain't modest at all, but real big. But he ain't a good guy. He is a psychopathic liar. He attacked my writing something awful. And when I said I would meet him at his house in Kent to discuss your differences, he told me to "GO Fock Yourself." (He is CLEARLY a racist pig against the French, and he is still mad about the wars between the English and French, which took place eons ago. What a dickshead!)
Hey, you -- the Jamacian and English teacher. I had brought you nothing but friendships, and you have indeed push a sharp pencil into my navel (for that is how your disrespect felt to me). You then attacked me, slandering me in these boards like there is not tomorrow. As a result, I nearly died of alcoholic drinking attack. I swear, if Brian heard this shit, he would issue forth his helper Stefan, who would make nothing out of you both. You are the real disease to the Placebo. I have my eyes on both of you at all times, and do not think you will get away with the evils you have done to me, Chris. The fates will get you one of these days.
And that is all for now. But please know that there are other, lesser enemies whom I do not mention here. These two are like the bosses, whereas the others are underlings of lesser importance. It is up to you, Soulmates, to find these people. First, I ask that you chastise them. Give them the chance to reform. However, if they ignore the admoistation, I charge you to eliminate these men.
No, no, I did not mention the use of violence. Did I imply it? I cannot say. It is up to you to interpret my words, then use the apropos leveler of action. Do not restraint yourself. Do What you feel is right. LEt Placebo guide your hands and "Come Up on Infra-red" on their ass.
Brian, Coming Up On Infra-Red To Obliterate The Foes

Chapter V: The Conclusion of Chris

And last week I finally left Brussels. In the words of B. Molko, I too needed “a change of environment – to get the fucke out of here” (Brian, Chem Trials).
I put all my stuff into the storage prison and caught on the plane to Canada. So, yes, I am now in Quebec, working as a fisherman with my cousin Philippe, and the sea-air has helped to purge my sinus; I have found peace and enjoyment in my live once more -- something I have not felt since I cannot remember when.
I am working from the piers and catchup with the crabs on the sting line, and I feel quite alright, so no worries. In my next post, I will tell you of this fishing business and its relation to Placebo -- because, indeed, I have discovered a very startling connection between the sea animals and Placebo: the music. Also, I will be giving you other reconciliations, and little mummers of things relative to Brian, Steff, Stefard, and Sweetie Steve.
I Love You Guys – This You Must “Breathe … breathe ... breathe ... breath ... believe."
Du Québec avec amour,
Chris

2024.05.12 04:52 jaxonjason Examining the Health Impacts of Nicotine Vaping versus Traditional Cigarette Smoking

Examining the Health Impacts of Nicotine Vaping versus Traditional Cigarette Smoking
Introduction:
The rise of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) or vaping devices as alternatives to traditional cigarettes has sparked discussions about their comparative health risks. Advocates argue that vaping nicotine is a safer option than smoking cigarettes. This paper delves into the comparative health risks, potential benefits, and emerging concerns related to nicotine vaping and traditional cigarette smoking, including the issue of lung inflammation from excessive vaping.
  1. Nicotine Delivery Mechanisms:
Both vaping devices and cigarettes deliver nicotine, the addictive substance in tobacco. Traditional cigarettes burn tobacco, generating smoke laden with thousands of harmful chemicals. In contrast, e-cigarettes heat a liquid (e-liquid or vape juice) to create an aerosol, minimizing exposure to carcinogens produced by combustion.
  1. Chemical Composition and Health Impact:
Cigarette smoke contains tar, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, and other toxins responsible for lung diseases, cardiovascular issues, and cancer. Vape liquids typically contain fewer harmful chemicals, but long-term effects remain under study. Overvaping, or excessive use of vaping devices, can lead to lung inflammation and respiratory symptoms, highlighting the importance of moderation in vaping habits.
  1. Respiratory and Cardiovascular Health:
Smoking significantly increases the risk of respiratory conditions like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung cancer due to smoke-induced lung damage. Vaping, while potentially less harmful to the lungs, may still pose cardiovascular risks, especially for individuals with preexisting conditions. Studies on the long-term cardiovascular impact of vaping are ongoing.
  1. Youth Initiation and Addiction:
The appeal of flavored vape products and marketing tactics has drawn youth to vaping, raising concerns about nicotine addiction and long-term health consequences. Efforts to curb youth initiation, such as flavor bans and stricter regulations, are crucial to prevent a new generation from becoming addicted to nicotine.
  1. Potential Benefits and Risks of Nicotine:
Nicotine, while addictive, has potential benefits such as cognitive enhancement, mood regulation, and pain relief. However, these benefits must be balanced against its addictive nature and the risks associated with tobacco use disorders, emphasizing the need for responsible consumption and informed decision-making.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, while vaping nicotine appears to present fewer immediate health risks than smoking traditional cigarettes, it is not without concerns. Lung inflammation from overvaping underscores the importance of using vaping devices responsibly and avoiding excessive nicotine exposure. Regulatory measures should focus on harm reduction, youth prevention, and public education to promote informed choices regarding nicotine consumption. Continued research into the long-term effects of vaping and nicotine use is essential to guide evidence-based policies and interventions that prioritize public health. Ultimately, individuals should consider the complete picture of risks and benefits when making decisions about nicotine use, emphasizing moderation and informed health choices
