6 weeks ago a flare started up after a weekend of spicy food, pre workout and Ibuprofen. This is the fourth Gastritis attack I’ve had in about 3 years, each one lasting roughly 3 months until I’m back to normal. Docs have prescribed 30mg of Lanzoprazole.
I’ve been militantly following a bland diet for the entire 6 weeks. I haven’t had sugar, salt, caffeine, oil, processed or junk food throughout the entirety of that time, literally living off veg, rice, fish, turkey and eggs. The pain is has receded from unbearable to tolerable with a few hours each day where it gets a bit intense.
The issue is, I’ve got a trip of a lifetime in 4 days to Thailand. There’s no feasible way I can continue this regime of bland food there. I’m half tempted to cancel the trip but I would loose over £1.5k I’ve already spent on flights and accommodation.
Does anyone have any advice for this situation? Can’t deny that the anxiety is probably not doing me any good on this journey to a healed stomach so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I love the store bought biltong or pre-packaged biltong online and grew up loving beef jerky, so I thought I'd go ahead and try making biltong homemade as everyone seems to say it tastes better. I bought this biltong box on amazon and followed this recipe online to make it.
For the meat I just bought a 1.5 kg picanha from a local butcher and raced home, immediately unsealed it and cut the pieces into thin strips, and began the vinegar / spice coating process (following the recipe using 1.5kg). I put the pieces in a ziploc bag and left it in the fridge untouched for 24 hours, then removed it and hung them to dry for ~5 days at 20 degrees Celsius and with the fan lightly on.
I just recently cut up the pieces, and while on the outside and from a distance they look perfect (I think), the taste is honestly hard to put down. The center of each bite of meat just tastes like a combination of sour and raw meat - I can't exactly put my finger on it what hte taste is exactly, but its not great. I love steak, jerky, and basically any meat related products, but I'm having a really hard time even stomaching small pieces of this.
Did I do something wrong or am I just not used to the homemade taste of biltong.

One year on T anniversary
(they/Them) I’m on Testim so low dose but feel like I’ve had a small amount of change! (Obviously other than top surgery) Most noticeable change with working out has been my back/shoulders have broadened and my biceps are so big I had to replace a bunch of my tops. My voice dropped once I had my hysterectomy (pre-T) and again afterwards, but not super deep. Hair growth on legs & stomach, but only in the last month or so have I noticed any on my chin/face, which I’m fine with because not going to keep it.

I tapered off of suboxone before after 3 months use/3 months methadone before that/ and 6 months fentanyl before that, I had been tapering anyways and literally got pregnant like right when I fully dropped. I experienced insomnia/exhaustion/stomach pain for about two months but those are also first trimester pregnancy symptoms so I’m not sure if it was from suboxone…
Anyways I had two years off of everything had two babies in the meantime, three months ago I fell into a deep depression being home alone with a baby and 1 year old… and started taking small pieces of suboxone, turned into a 2 month habit and I’ve been tapering the past few weeks. I’m just curious how long of PAWS I should expect from such a short habit? And if I should out of pre caution get on an antidepressant?

So very recently I have decided to lose some weight for the summer and for myself as well. Just for some context, I’m 22, 5’7 1/2, female and I was weighing in at 198 pounds (let’s just say 200 pounds). Now, in all honestly, I didn’t feel like I was eating a lot but I guess after being with my boyfriend for three years and stepping out to eat all the time.. the calories and weight and not moving my body as much was catching up to me. Now I feel like I carry most of my weight in my lower stomach area. As of recently starting on Sunday June 2nd to today I’ve been going to the gym where I do the treadmill until I reach 400 calories. The have the incline at 11.5-12 and I put the speed to 1.9-2.
I have also drastically changed my diet to having a ham and cheese sandwich for breakfast at 6:50am then for lunch I’ll Chobani yogurt, and a banana and nature valley bar and I usually down this with a lot of water for I’m full and if I’m still hungry I’ll have a small orange (this all takes places around 11:30ish sometimes 12 because I’m at work). Then when I get home at 4:00pm I’ll have a pre-packaged seaweed sea salt which is 25 calories and then I’ll go workout at the gym which is usually 5:30 by then. And then after I workout I usually i get dinner which has been Panda Express. I get the super greens 90cals. And then I get the black pepper angus steak which is 210cals and then I’ll get the 3 crab ragoons 190 cal, so my dinner comes out to 490 cals and 30g of protein. I’ve also had chick fil A where I get the grilled chicken sandwich and then at chipotle I just get lettuce bowl instead of rice. My question is me walking to lose 400 calories a day doing anything? And what are some suggestions you might have? I do feel like my diet is sustainable for me personally, by the end of the day I am full! Especially from my dinner cause I pack it with protein! I don’t have a goal weight per se, but I’m just trying to get to a point where I feel confident and comfortable in my own clothes. And I’m also curious to know when I see a different in my body, I’m not expecting anything overnight. But something to keep my pursuing this goal of mine. I have been taking pictures everyday and writing my foods down. However I don’t think my foods go over the everyday calorie intake.

I want my period back I want to be healthy again im sick of listening to the voice telling me I don't deserve to eat but I can't stop having urges to go back.. that I looked better and it wasn't that bad. I know that's not true but it's hard to keep going when I feel so ugly and bloated I feel huge and I havent even gotten to my old weight yet I don't know what to do I can't even look at myself. When does it stop? I'm in a pinch and wanted to see if anybody had some advice. My rheumatologist diagnosed me with non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis. He sent in a script for Cimzia because I also have stomach issues and he wanted to avoid Cosentyx. While this should have been approved based on my insurance requirements, they denied it because they want me to try Cosentyx first.
I went to see my doc's PA recently to discuss this. She gave me a Cimzia sample (just first dose), had me fill out paperwork for Cimzia's patient assistance program, started the pre-approval process again, and told me she'd get more samples until it gets approved. Well I'm a few days away from my next dose and it doesn't seem like anyone tried to get a new sample. I also just got word that the second pre-approval was denied. I've gotten in touch with the Cimzia rep, and they told me that I have to go through my doc or insurance to check in on the assistance status. The medical assistant at my doc's office says they have no clue.
Both my doctor and my insurance have been giving me conflicting stories throughout this whole process, so I'm at a bit of a loss. I'm also a little worried about my immunity towards the drug if I quit during the introduction phase. Anybody have a similar experience / suggestions?

Hello I’m (25 F) finally getting help for my allergies after a lifetime of being sick, periods of no medical insurance, and just getting used to always feeling miserable and counting it as the new normal lol. I got tested on a skin prick test earlier this week and reacted to 64 out of 68 allergens which I expected a lot as I hive up the second I walk outside. The test made me extremely light headed, I got chills and almost passed out. 😅 I also wanted to add I have had hives constantly for about 5 years straight and I do have terrible asthma which they gave me a lot of asthma medication at the allergy appointment as well. I have had several allergies & asthma since childhood but it has gradually gotten worse over the years.
We were going to do a food allergy test but we’re going to do a blood one as they did test for all the nuts and I reacted to everything (tree nuts, peanuts, coconuts), I should mentioned cashews and other tree nuts have gotten worse for me over time. I used to eat them and have minimal reactions, now one bite sends me into anaphylactic shock within an hour, even being in a room I will get hay fever, hives, and feel my throat closing up without me eating them. Other foods such as eggs and dairy give me bad stomach problems. I was diagnosed with oral allergy syndrome as most raw fruits and veggies give me a reaction, and pretty much anything else I eat gives me acid reflux which I just deal with pepcid lol.
I’ve come to realize all my issues that I’ve been to the doctor separately for links back to this. I’ve been to the doctors for constant migraines the past few years and they just told me to do neck stretches which I do daily and doesn’t help. I recently got an endoscopy bc I’m constantly having really bad acid reflux which spiked during pregnancy and they said they see I have GERD but to keep taking Pepcid. My pregnancy was spent vomiting multiple times a day until I developed severe pre-eclampsia that had my liver failing so I had to deliver 3 months early, apparently that can also be common among MCAS patients. I also have had kidney issues since 17 but unsure if that’s related or not. I did go into remission with my allergies during pregnancy which was cool but they returned the second I delivered. 😅
Sorry for this long thing as I just found out about it the other day but to anyone experienced does this make sense to ask about MCAS to my doctor based on my history? I feel like if it’s not this or something else, then I guess I just have terrible health at 25 years old which absolutely sucks. If people think I should ask about it, how would I go about it? I usually get pushed away by doctors so I stopped being seen unless it’s life threatening, even going to an allergist was a big step. Hi everyone. I started taking Spiro in April of 2021, after trying EVERY topical treatment under the sun since I was 15 (I’m 37 now) and getting either no results or temporary results. I was so tired of breakouts.
I started on 50mg and by January of 2022, I was on 200mg.
Everything was OK, though being constantly thirsty and dry and dehydrated wore on me. Especially on my guts. I went for a GI consultation in late February because I’d been having stomach pains and early satiety and x-ray results showed that I had “severe fecal stasis.” Sexy! I did a colon cleanse that weekend.
After my endoscopy in May, my GI suggested I start on Linzess, but I didn’t like the sound of the side effects AND like, taking MORE meds to counter the side effects of my current meds (Spiro) did not appeal to me.
I hated that the Spiro was clogging me up, even with HIGH doses of magnesium and for a time, miralax. Especially in light of my 14-pound weight gain (I’m 5’4”, I was around 130 lbs in December and I currently weigh around 144 lbs). The weight gain has been by far the most difficult symptom to contend with. I am extremely uncomfortable in my own skin, and I feel a LOT of stress & anxiety. I really dislike my big tummy. Clothes don’t fit. Underwear rolls down. Even sitting on the recliner makes me uncomfortable.

I also know that if I want to drop the extra pounds, I need to read loseit, start a gentle diet, log what I eat and drink, and stop overeating at night. And I know that I should try to be patient with my body as it readjusts. But does anyone have any additional advice?
Additional info:
I’m seeing my dermatologist on July 10 (she’ll probs be thrilled that I stopped Spiro without consulting with her) and I plan to ask for bloodwork to dertermine if my hormones, etc. are on the fritz. Along with a full thyroid panel. Last year I was very low on B12 in the spring and I ran out of injections this past April, so I’m curious to know my current levels.
Also I’m on hormonal birth control, so my cycles are fairly normal. I just saw the girly doctor last week. I told her of my recent struggles and she renewed my rx (and asked if I could cut back my work hours, which is so not feasible right now).
My breakouts haven’t been too bad yet. That’s probably forthcoming. Truth be told, since January, my skin’s been pretty acne-ridden (though not as acne-ridden as it was pre-Spiro).
Oh, and I’ve been more regular since stopping Spiro. So that’s one plus in this abyss of minuses.
edit: forgot to mention I’ve also been taking 200 mg of DIM since 6/1.

I was a healthy/normal weight as a child, and went to college at age 18 a 5'10" man weighing 155 lbs. I was definitely skinny and not very muscular. To keep it brief, I experienced several traumatic and very difficult things during my years in school, and I packed on roughly 40 pounds seemingly overnight. As the years went by from ages 22-30 my weight slowly crept up to a high of 240 in December of 2020.
That whole time I was painfully aware of being fat. My cholesterol/triglycerides skyrocketed in my early 20s. I tried tracking calories, weighing my food, intermittent fasting, keto, and exercising like a fanatic. I made many, many good-faith attempts to lose the weight but my body would fight me SO HARD every time. I would lose 20 pounds then gain it back over the next 8-12 months, and a little more each time. My cholesterol was alarmingly bad so my doctor put me on a statin when I was 30, and I started to take blood pressure meds at 32 years old. I carried my weight OK, friends and family never believed me when I would talk about how fat I was and how I had to take meds in my early 30s for obesity related diseases. My fasting glucose and A1C were both creeping upward as well, though I was not pre-diabetic when I decided to go "no holds barred" in January 2021 and "finally get back down to a normal BMI."
I fought as hard as I could. I signed up for a meal delivery program so I would know EXACTLY how many calories, macros, etc I was eating. No alcohol (haven't had a drop since December 2020). No sweets, no snacks except sugar-free beef jerky or plain nuts/seeds. My diet has been low carb, high protein, high fiber. I drink only water or flavored seltzer (no artificial sweeteners). I dropped from 240 to 213 across 2021 and maintained it until this year...but UGH was my life miserable. I was hungry 24/7, sometimes so hungry I couldn't sleep...and yet I was still "fat" and still needed a statin and BP med. I had zero energy, every workout felt like a punishment. I thought about food 24/7 and my inner dialogue was a constant argument like "oooo that looks delicious, eat it!" "no!" "ooooo I'm starving, grab a snack" "no!"
If any of you have little kids, it was like part of my mind was a hungry little kid constantly begging for food and the other part was the "responsible adult" who constantly replied "no." This dynamic is utterly exhausting, as I'm sure most of you are well aware. I don't care what anyone says, to endure that inner dialogue for years on end just to maintain moderate weightloss IS tremendous willpower. Willpower, by itself, is no match for the disease of obesity, in my opinion.
I am not lazy, I am not stupid, I am not unmotivated, and I DID DO THE WORK that everyone told me to do to lose weight. I did lose some weight, and I was constantly miserable, hungry, deprived, tired/weak, and frustrated...plus I was still fat and still needed meds as a result.
Fast forward to April 2024. My PCP has been watching me struggle with weight for several years, and has noted my many and continuous efforts to get it off of me. He was pleased with my ability to lose ~ 27 pounds and keep it off for several years. I just could not lose anymore though, it felt impossible. I'm a relatively young man and I was eating around 1500 calories per day, working out 4-5 times per week including 30 minutes cardio (minimum) and 30 minutes with weights AND STILL NOT LOSING. What the hell? Noom kept telling me to eat MORE lol. Like, I kept getting warnings that I wasn't eating enough, and I have an apple watch so my exercise data was automatically logged into the calculations made by Noom. I've weighed myself daily for many years. Noom thought I should be in a massive caloric deficit and yet I wasn't losing weight. I was beyond frustrated and miserable.
Doc said, "let's try one of these diabetes drugs." My insurance approved it since my BMI was still above 30 and I had 2 co-morbid conditions, plus I demonstrated years-long successful attempts at moderate weightloss.
I felt almost high in the hours after I took my first zepbound shot. The annoying hungry kid inside me was suddenly just quiet. The mental relief I felt is so hard to describe, it was truly amazing. I didn't change my diet or exercise habits whatsoever, and the weight began rocketing off of me. I felt better right away. Afternoon exhaustion: gone. I felt vastly stronger and more energetic in the gym. I slept better: no more going to bed with a rumbling stomach and hungeanxiety. My mind was clearer: no more constant sense of inner struggle to ignore and deny hunger signals. My blood pressure went from 140/95 to 110/70 in the first week, and has remained there since. I don't take BP meds anymore. I now weigh 185, a weight I have literally never seen on the scale because I must have passed through it in college during my original weight gain, before I began weighing myself regularly. I still have a spare tire, and I haven't gotten my lipids/A1C checked yet...but oh my goodness do I feel tremendously better overall. I'm still "overweight" on the BMI scale but I'm ecstatic with the progress. I don't actually know what my goal weight is, but I think it's somewhere in the "normal" BMI range. I'm going to keep going until I lose the spare tire, and hope my lipids and A1C/glucose normalize.
Anyway, I wish everyone who wants and needs these drugs can get them, they're truly life-changing. At 35, I have literally never felt better. I am much healthier than I was at 25, and it is largely due to this peptide. Incredible!!!

Hi everyone, so I’m pregnant with my second child (first trimester). I always wanted two kids. I have a 3.5 years old daughter so I thought it’ll be the right time as she’ll be over 4 when the baby arrives. She also goes to pre-school so I thought managing things with two kids would be easier at this stage.
I thought I had prepared myself mentally for pregnancy fatigue, nausea, etc. as well as dealing with the super tiring newborn phase. But the thing is now that I’ve conceived I’m not happy at all.
I’ve been extremely nauseous right from week 5. My stomach has also been super upset from 5 week. Shortness of breath and palpitations are also there right from the start. Some days are better than the other but Medications don’t do much. I feel like I’ve been sick from past 4-5 weeks, can’t do much, can’t play with my daughter who is super attached with me and this makes me so depressed.
I work from home part time, so I’ve always managed to give my daughter all of my time that she needed. However, now I had to hire a nanny as I literally couldn’t do much. I’ve planned to hire a nanny for my newborn as well so I can continue working.
However, with all this sickness and the fear of newborn stage ( my daughter was a very difficult colicky baby) I feel so so depressed these days. It feels like life was perfect before and I inflicted all of this on me and my daughter. I see no hope as I have almost 7 months of pregnancy ahead and the way this pregnancy is going I can only imagine 3rd trimester will be more difficult ( I already have back pain in 1st trimester) and then I’d have to deal with sleepless nights and whatnot when the baby arrives. Also, I’m worried how my daughter would react to all of this.
I don’t know how to motivate myself. Those who already have 2 children please tell me there is light at the end of the tunnel.
P.S. I miss liking food. Now everything tastes meh. Even water.

Thanks to u/SpacePaladin15 for the universe and allowing fanfics to flourish!
For context, as with most of my written work recently, this story is made as a character backstory for a TTRPG campaign, while also being intended as an enjoyable standalone story. I've decided to release this one episodically in contrast to the other two times I've done this, as I've had the beginning of this written for a while and it's been a hot minute since I've given myself the pleasure of releasing something a part at a time. (Whoops.)
If you want to see more of this type of thing, my two other character backstories I've written - "I am Irony" and "What You Are To Me" are both intertwined stories for my characters in a previous campaign, following the gritty tale of two broken people learning the hard way how to mend themselves through each other.
Also, for your reading pleasure, the character of this story is a Dossur pilot with a British accent. Why does he have a British accent? Because I thought it would be fun to voice while playing. That's it. Enjoy.

Deep breaths. That’s real air, right there. Take it all in.
Exiting my little pop-up of a home for the past few months, I gasped as deep a breath of fresh air as I could manage. Overdid it a bit, entering a little coughing fit. I hope it’s not an omen. My “neighbour” Lea, one of the technicians, hears my fit and approaches.
“Alright there, Bullet?”
I squeeze a last little wheeze out to reply. “Yes, ma’am. Right as rain.”
“Right. Keep those lungs in check, Bullet. It’s launch day.”
“Don’t I know it. I’ll wash it down with some tea soon enough.”
“Make it count. That washing’s going to have to last a while.”
“Hm.”
With a nod, I continued my morning as usual, spare some splurging at mess. It’s my last chance to be the cheeky bugger who wipes all the little groberry pie squares, after all. I mixed my tea a tad sweeter than I usually aim for, as a treat. Perhaps it’s a little pre-emptive to be celebrating, but it’ll be a long wait to celebrate otherwise. I polish my plate and discard it, before making my way towards the launch site.
I get some glances on the way there. I’m hardly taking a hero’s stride, but I suppose the project does hinge on me keeping my wits about me. Really, I’m just the meat to throw into this longshot. It’s weird to see admiration from all the eggheads who put this together. I make it to the launch site, right on time, and General Lantry is waiting for me..
“Here’s your real test, Bullet. Hot site, no help. It’s you and the stars up there. Given your track record, I trust that won’t be a problem?”
“Count on it, sir.”
“Good.”
I’ve been through the wringer on this enough times for it to be clockwork. I enter the locker room just beside the launch site, don my full equipment, and do a last check through all my gear and personals. I’ve been advised plenty of times not to skip out on anything I think I’ll want for even a moment up there, within reason. Even still, my options are limited by what endures usage through a liquid. I suppose most mementos will simply be for my use on arrival. I leave the locker room, then go right back in to check my gear again. It’s an odd quirk they taught me - if my mind registers the task fully done, it will be ready to start over again properly. I run through the full checklist on my gear a second time, and take pride in having missed nothing on the first go-around.
I walk out onto the launch pad, helmet under arm, bag in hand. It feels rather surreal for as often as I’ve made this brief walk. Just about everyone who isn’t in the control room made their way out for this moment. It’s hardly a crowd, due to the clandestine nature of this project, but it’s the biggest showing I’ve seen since I got here. A few shout brief phrases of encouragement.
“Give ‘em hell, Bullet!”
“See you on the other side!”
“Safe travels!”
I sign a salute as I approach my vessel, seeing it get one last good look-through by the technicians. “The Cartridge,” they call it. A cartridge for launching a bullet. It’s clever. It’s hard to call her a beaut, with as unassuming and mundane the stealth vessel is by-design, but I suppose I’ll have plenty of time to find things to admire about her in the stars. The technicians give the control room the greenlight, then there’s nothing left holding me back from getting on with it.
Lantry addresses me a final time from the edge of the pad. “That’s the all-clear, Bullet. Best of luck to you.”
“Thank you, sir.”
I don my helmet and enter the cockpit, feeling the familiar sensation of becoming half-submerged in the liquid ventilation. The Cartridge seals itself and I brace for the next segment. I’ve done it hundreds of times now, but you never quite get used to the feeling of liquid filling your lungs. Once it’s over, it’s not too hard to acclimate to, though. The last of the “air” leaves the vessel as the interface whirrs to life, and I hear the control room over my headset.
“All checks passed and prime. The pad is clear; you’re free to launch.”
With the pressure in my lungs, my words are barely understandable on their own, but an onboard algorithm translates my warbles to speech. It’s like an odd second language to me. “Roger.”
I pause for a moment. It’s hard to believe this is it, my last moment in contact with others for the foreseeable future. I would hate myself up there if I squandered it. I open the comms link one more time.
“Can I get a countdown?”
I hear the man on comms give a friendly chuckle. “Alright then, Bullet. Ten…”
I close the screen for outgoing comms and my hands find the controls.
“Nine… eight… seven…”
The countdown forces my nerves to take a backseat. I readjust in my chair, trying to relax myself.
“Six… five… four…”
My fingers hover over the inputs to launch. My hand tenses for a moment, but the resistance of the liquid surrounding me removes the risk of me messing up my timing.
“Three… two…”
I feel my heart beating out of my chest.
“One-”
I take a deep, mechanically assisted breath.
“-And, liftoff!”
Before I'd even registered I’d done it, I’d taken off, and was now barreling through the atmosphere of Mileau for the few seconds it’d last. I pull up my surroundings on the viewport and take it all in. I’ve been in orbit countless times and have done plenty of FTL drills, but the impact of this being the last one was catching up to me. I watched as the simulated view of Mileau behind me remained beautiful for a mere moment before becoming an imperceptible speck amidst a black expanse. Refocusing on the task at hand, I initiated my FTL flight to the edge of Venlil space.
I initiate my first mission log.

Although stretching my time in subspace even a few seconds could save me possible days, my route has been allotted to be scraping the absolute edge of Arxur detection capabilities. Such precision requires that input of the journey to be automated, so my responsibilities for the time being are to sit tight and stay alive, I suppose. I’ve been instructed to use my mission logs like a pseudo-conversation partner, to keep a track on my mental state throughout the journey. I have much time to burn stimuli ahead, so I suppose I’ll save it for once I’ve exited subspace.”

“I’ve just exited subspace, and am proceeding towards Wriss. Truth be told, it was disorienting. Usually FTL systems are designed to provide a comfortable system for dropping to a cruising speed, but with my current travel speed still being such a high fraction of light’s, the experience was ironically that of acceleration, even though I am travelling far slower than FTL. Looking around, this is now the third time I’ve ever seen such an overwhelming blue-shift to my environment. It’s rather beautiful, really. I’ve taken the liberty of doffing my helmet just before this entry. I won’t be changing course for the foreseeable future, and I’ve been instructed to make myself as comfortable as possible for longevity.”

“Just got my first sleep of the journey in. I’ve done an extended stay in the Cartridge before as a part of my training, but it was still a bit jarring. A lack of gravity is one thing, but the encasement in liquid is a whole other beast. I’m feeling well-rested enough, though. It’s time for ‘breakfast’ I suppose. With my mouth occupied by liquid ventilation and witty commentary, I’m fed through a direct hookup to my veins. I suppose I can say, with scientifically peer-reviewed certainty, that I am having a balanced breakfast. [chuckle] This trip will be a hell of a diet. I’m already missing the pie squares.”

“Well, I think I’ve had my share of the onboard entertainment for today, so I suppose I’ll stick to the eggheads’ advice and get to rambling. As it stands, I’m on my third day of travel, from what the clock’s telling me, at least. The clock is a bit fast to account for time dilation. Rather, it’s accurate, but to the outside world. The wording escapes me, but the gist is that to me, it looks fast. I’ve been getting some work done on the elastics to try to keep pace with it. I’m hoping if I wear myself out enough, I’ll sleep earlier and stay on schedule. Anywho, I use elastics because artificial gravity was deemed too encumbering of a system to implement into the pod, especially because this whole thing is rigged to completely cut power to all systems if I need to avoid detection. So, all my exercise is done with the elastics. There’s several loops around the walls of the small lounge they’ve allotted me to stretch when I’m not in the captain’s seat. Well, I’m not sure if it’d be a ‘lounge’ or a ‘living room.’ It’s the only other space on the vessel besides the captain’s seat, but it’s cosy enough, I suppose. My precious home away from home. Where was I? Right, the loops. There’s loops around the walls of the cube to allow me to hook the elastic bands any which way I please. Today I hooked them to the floor and did squats.”

“Five and a half days in now. My sleep has continued to walk forward, despite my efforts, but I suppose the arbitrary day-night of an accelerated Mileau hardly matters to me up here. Supposedly it’ll affect how often my body thinks it needs to eat, but I’ve been assured there’s enough of that nourishment juice onboard that I’d have to be consuming it constantly throughout my journey to use it all up before arrival, and at that rate, I’d probably die from what all that would be doing to my body. A grim comfort, I suppose.”

“Seven days. I feel a tad tired most of the time, and hungry. This juice will keep me alive for as long as I’ll let it, but it doesn’t fill my stomach. I guess I’m glad I splurged on food on my last day, while I could. In other news, I figured out how to jerry-rig myself a setup for sit-ups. Keeping my exercise diverse should help with both boredom and atrophy. After this log, I think I’ll try to set up some idiot’s definition of a treadmill. I’ll have an elastic keeping me a certain distance from a wall, and another holding me to a surface to simulate gravity. I’m hoping the friction of the ventilation in here doesn’t impede too much.”

“You know, I’ve listened back on my old logs a lot. It’s nice to just… hear a voice I recognize, I suppose. The shows I’ve kept myself occupied are fine entertainment-wise, but there isn’t much in the way of Dossur representation. The time! Right, it’s been twelve days now, but I’ve slept eight times. Well, except for that one nap. I’m not sure. In any case, this morning is a morning for me. It’s nice. What was I… yes, I’ve been listening to my old logs, just to hear the voice of a Dossur. It’s a bit odd hearing so much of my own voice, but it’s also not my own voice. That algorithm is what makes it intelligible. As I listen to myself right now, it’s a warbled, muffled mess. I swear, I’ll touch down and start talking like how I sound now. [Unintelligible] I wonder what the algorithm will do with that. That was just me making noises.”

“I thought I could make a game of seeing what the algorithm would interpret random noises as, but it just gives up. It’s really a missed opportunity, if you ask me. They make these things too smart.”

“I think I miss the colour red. The blue-shift was beautiful at first, watching the distortion of all these colours I knew so well around the cockpit, but it’s gotten old. It makes the onboard entertainment noticeably worse, too. You never really realise how many jokes and plotlines centre around colours until they’ve all been modified. The vast expanse of space outside doesn’t look any different from when I first set off. Frankly, I would believe that I’m perfectly stationary right now if it weren’t for the blue shift. I guess that’s a reason to appreciate it. Nineteen days.”

“I’ve officially gotten bored enough to talk about the bathroom situation. I considered it early on, but it felt embarrassing at the time. I haven’t had to do it too often, because that nourishment juice runs rather efficiently, but nature calls. Hang on, let me get a timestamp of this milestone… Right, the clock tells me this is twenty-seven days in. I made it longer than I thought I would without going here, I suppose. Anywho, it’s a tube. It’s a big tube with a sort of cup on the end of it. It’s awkward giving it a proper seal, but there’s no gravity, and I’d rather not taint what I’m breathing in. The ventilation cycles and refreshes itself, obviously, but it’s still not a pleasant thought. I guess that’s another note to touch on - bathing. It’s essentially the same as turning the ventilation up to maximum. I just cycle the ventilation in the cockpit with enough force that it washes me off and gets filtered out in the purifier system… thing. I’m not a technician, alright? I can’t really smell through the liquid all that well but this is how they told me to do it, so I’m hoping it’ll pay off when I’m on the other side.”

“I spend most of my time exercising, watching random telly shows, listening back to my logs, and making more logs. That, and sleeping. Well, with the inclusion of sleeping, that’s actually what I spend all my time doing. Honestly, I’ve re-listened to my first log so many times that it feels like a different person. You know, I wonder if it would have been worth the risk to just stretch the FTL just a little longer. I think I would have been able to skip all the time that’s passed so far in just a few seconds if I kept going just a little further. I really hope the eggheads got that calibration right. Thirty days. Big three-nil. I’d celebrate with a cake if they came in liquid form. My whole damn life’s a series of different liquids.”

“With how much time I’ve spent exercising, I hoped that I would start to build some muscle. Unfortunately, with the weightlessness, I’m pretty much just breaking even to avoid atrophy. Shoot, I’m just imagining what a beast I’d be if I spent all this perfectly good boredom in an environment with gravity. I’d be the beefiest Dossur alive. Hah, what a concept. Thirty-five days.”

Right, well, I’ve remained chipper in my logs thus far because I know I’ll be the first person to listen back on them, and I really need that, but I think I just… need to feel like what I’m thinking is being heard… by something, at least. I’m not having a good time. I’m… really not having a good time. Every day is the same. I’ve kept my logs varied for self-entertainment’s sake, but everything I pretend is a passing errant thought is always something I’ve been thinking about since nearly the first day. I’ve just been rationing my last thoughts as a person who remembers a time before this pod to keep cycling them back to myself. Maybe half of them aren’t true. It really does feel more like I’m putting on a show for myself than actually recording anything when I make these logs at this point. I don’t know. Forty-six days, or so the clock says. I’m not sure I believe it.”

“I saw a bubble today. I didn’t think there were any left. I haven’t thought about bubbles in so long until I just saw one. There were a good few bubbles in the early days of the trip, when there were still pockets of gas that were dissipating with the ventilation, but I thought they were all gone. It was nice. There are so many orbs off in the unchanging distant space around me, but this one is mine. I tried to move it towards the corner of my lounge in the hopes it will stay there, but I’m dreading the fact it will probably be filtered by tomorrow. I thought maybe I should give it a name, until I said that out loud. I need to keep my wits about me. Forty-nine days.”

“I didn’t hear my name on my last day on Mileau. I keep thinking back to that day, because it really doesn’t feel that far away. With how monotonous it is up here, it felt like launch day could have been yesterday. I didn’t hear my name. Everyone just called me ‘Bullet.’ It makes sense, because they’d been doing it for months, and the project was clandestine, but I miss it. I guess I’ll have the bot here read my name back to me, in a voice I can’t even hear from my own mouth. Anlon. Anlon. Anlon? Anlon. Anlon! Anlon. Anlon. Anlon. Anlon. Anlon. That’s me, I’m Anlon. Operative Anlon, at your service! I’m Anlon, ‘the Bullet,’ of Project: Bullet. More like Project: Anlon! Anlon, I tell ya! I sound bloody insane. Time? Oh, right, it’s the fiftieth day. “I want to turn back. I can’t say with a straight face that I have just ‘thought about it.’ I know this pod is still FTL capable. I know a lot of people put way too much into this project, though. I keep reciting to myself that I just need to keep my wits about me. After all, in such a tiny pod, where would my wits have to go anyhow? Hah, just another little quip to ensure the quip cortex of my brain is intact. Another great joke is the concept of time. Just read the internal properties of the damn log if you need to know that.”

I suppose this internal monologue I’ve gone through about a thousand times is worth saying. This is the vitriolic extent to which I consider what act I’ll put on for the day to record in a log.

“I keep having to remind myself of my purpose on this vessel. There’s a reason they needed to subject a pilot to this unbearable wait time. I’m the backup generator, in a sense. When I talk about the ship being able to shut down power completely, I mean completely. There’s no idling system to be ready to start everything back up once a threat is gone. Even the smallest current can be detected. I’m here to reconnect the two in case I need to employ that countermeasure. The point of the ship is to be as close to impossible to detect as possible. Hi everyone, so I’m pregnant with my second child (first trimester). I always wanted two kids. I have a 3.5 years old daughter so I thought it’ll be the right time as she’ll be over 4 when the baby arrives. She also goes to pre-school so I thought managing things with two kids would be easier at this stage.
I thought I had prepared myself mentally for pregnancy fatigue, nausea, etc. as well as dealing with the super tiring newborn phase. But the thing is now that I’ve conceived I’m not happy at all.
I’ve been extremely nauseous right from week 5. My stomach has also been super upset from 5 week. Shortness of breath and palpitations are also there right from the start. Some days are better than the other but Medications don’t do much. I feel like I’ve been sick from past 4-5 weeks, can’t do much, can’t play with my daughter who is super attached with me and this makes me so depressed.
I work from home part time, so I’ve always managed to give my daughter all of my time that she needed. However, now I had to hire a nanny as I literally couldn’t do much. I’ve planned to hire a nanny for my newborn as well so I can continue working.
However, with all this sickness and the fear of newborn stage ( my daughter was a very difficult colicky baby) I feel so so depressed these days. It feels like life was perfect before and I inflicted all of this on me and my daughter. I see no hope as I have almost 7 months of pregnancy ahead and the way this pregnancy is going I can only imagine 3rd trimester will be more difficult ( I already have back pain in 1st trimester) and then I’d have to deal with sleepless nights and whatnot when the baby arrives. Also, I’m worried how my daughter would react to all of this.
I don’t know how to motivate myself. Those who already have 2 children please tell me there is light at the end of the tunnel.
P.S. I miss liking food. Now everything tastes meh. Even water.

This will be long and I’m sorry. I’m a medical mystery as my doctor calls it but I’d like to not be!
Female- 28yrs old 5’3 96lbs small frame (average weights 110-115)
Going back to 2017-18 - first pregnancy gestational diabetes. Bad enough I need insulin - multiple daily injections. Baby arrived healthy after inducing at 39 weeks - tested after no diabetes. (Baby born March 2018)
Second baby was born sept 2021 - this one again gestational - multiple daily injections, hard to keep in range - other issues in pregnancy like way too much amniotic fluid (a gallon?! Yes I was ballooned!) pre labor at 32 weeks stopped with steroids. Only caused more fluid retention - at 37 weeks exactly pre eclampsia and emergency c section. Baby was in nicu for a couple days to level out their sugars - both left recovering ok after a few days. Testing after shows blood sugars still very high - prescribed metformin - due to ibs I had a very bad response and was put back on insulin (both fast and slow and treated as type 1).
Spring of 2022 - very ill high blood sugars - was told DKA and spent a day in icu - then I meet my endocrinologist as I’m “type 1”
Further testing confirms non of the standard tests show I have type 1- no antibodies etc. however I’ve required insulin since the pregnancy.
Thyroid testing done 2x - once abnormal follow up was normal. All 3 tests for antibodies negative.
This week I’m at my wits end. I’ve been having major stomach issues - ibs -D to the extreme. Amidst several life events happening I spaced my morning insulin and meal insulins…. And my sugars are fine?? It’s been 48 hrs and I’ve given myself 1 unit of insulin. Standard is 14-16 long (tresiba) and 1:10 carb ratio for humilog.
I go in for more blood work tmrw - as I’m clearly not getting nutrients I’ve lost a significant amount of weight (I’m fondly referring to myself as skeletor you can see all ribs front and back it’s not pretty)
Other notes: previously had issues with chronic uti - resolved by antibiotics - off antibiotics now and rarely get them. Recently went in for annual - painful lump on right breast getting a mammogram done soon. Family history includes type 2 diabetes, cancer. I also have issues with my joints - like they pop out of socket almost oh my elbow I “pop” it back and my shoulders, wrists are in pain frequently.
So - is it diabetes? Is it something else?
