2024.05.15 10:30 Pigik83 What is a web unblocker and how does it work?

Hey everyone!
I recently dove deep into the fascinating world of web unblockers and thought I'd share some insights that might just change how you see internet restrictions and web scraping. You might already know that web unblockers are like secret passageways that let you sneak past internet censorship or geofencing. Think of them as VPNs on steroids, allowing not just encrypted data transfer for privacy but also unrestricted browsing freedom.
But here's where it gets really interesting, especially for folks in the web scraping arena. Web unblockers serve as these powerful APIs designed to outsmart anti-bot protections. They’re like the ninjas of the internet, using tactics such as IP rotation, browser fingerprinting, CAPTCHA solving, and even Javascript rendering to access the data we need.
Now, you might think a proxy does the job by changing your IP address. But web unblockers? They're the whole package, offering a bunch more than just a disguise. Yet, it's not all smooth sailing. No single web unblocker can claim victory over every anti-bot mechanism out there. Tech giants like Cloudflare are in constant evolution, crafting more complex defenses to keep bots at bay.
This is exactly why I conducted the Great Web Unblocker Benchmark. It's a showdown to see how different web unblockers stack up against the toughest anti-bot solutions in the wild. Sure, there's a price tag attached to these unblockers, but picking the right one isn't just about spending money—it's about investing in seamless data access for our projects.
In the end, the key takeaway is weighing the cost against the potential to maintain an uninterrupted data flow for our customers. Let's keep pushing the envelope and finding the best tools to navigate these challenges together.
Cheers to an open and accessible web for all our scraping needs!

2024.05.14 02:44 just-forfun27 SOLUTION TO BEING LOGGED OUT OF INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT

I was recently logged out of my instagram account and the experience was SUPER frustrating so I thought I’d make a post on here to help other people in need.
What happened was, I changed my instagram password online and then went to go log in on my app, and it was asking for backup verification codes that I did not have. The other option was to have a code texted to me, but no matter how many times I tried, the code would not send to me, so this is how I fixed it.
Good luck logging back into your account since I know just how upsetting and frustrating this experience can be.
One last note, instagram DOES NOT have a customer service line. There is one posted online, but if a male voice with an accent picks up THAT NUMBER IS A SCAM. He will try and get you to download an app to access your banking information. Luckily, I was able to recognize he was a scammer when he asked me to download this app (a real customer service line would NEVER ask you to do this) but seriously, stay safe out there guys.

2024.05.13 23:44 Antique_Hair_7488 Carsales Australia Cookie Notification

This website is trying really hard to annoy it's users.
First it refuses to display the prices of vehicles, unless I sign in, which is actually against the law for advertising a vehicle in Australia. When I call them up, they immediately tell me to stop using an VPN. That's great if I was using one.. then they ask me to provide my IP address and they will "unblock me" how does this even work with dynamic IP addresses? I have no idea. This all has been reported to the ombudsman, but unfortunately I have not received a response in over 3 weeks. Surface to say, the government doesn't care, and only priority is self regulation for businesses which obviously does not work.
Now they decide to continually show me the cookie warning pop up every time I view the page or navigate to a new page on the website. They also like to do a 'are you human check' I am almost certain this does not happen with Chrome. WHIC AGAIN every business seem to TELL ME it's the only web browser that works or I should be using.
Xjsbdn
Why can't add block stop this! I don't care about cookies! Well I do, but I care for my insanity over a few privacy concerns. I HATE POP UPS AND WEBSITE OVERLAYS they RUIN the internet.
P.s Why can't Firefox provide a way to spoof the user agent so websites 'think' I am using Chrome.. and even better why can't Firefox provide a way to 'fake' the browser finger prints so a website does not know what operating system I use, or just use a generic one and screen size etc.. obviously this might brake some website, but an easy toggle on/off would be fine. Website get way to much information from their user. Information they most certainly do not strictly need.
Thanks for any input.

2024.05.08 05:59 gravipack Xsolla blocked my account, cannot purchase (error 3032)

I am trying to purchase an upgrade to my edition of the game and am encountering the error 3032. I believe this is some sort of block on my account. I've tried numerous payment methods and different browsers but encounter the same issue.
I've reached out to Xsolla support but seem to not be getting anywhere with it. I've been informed varying responses from
  1. We've unblocked your account and you may try your purchase again.
  2. Due to security reasons, we've blocked your account
I was told I was cleared, then immediately after told I was blocked again?
The other purchases I have made using Xsolla has been the Tarkov initially, an ESEA subscription, and now this attempted purchase. I did refund the ESEA subscription, which was a purchase in 2019 that was a mistake, but it wasn't a chargeback or any other scummy way, I legit went through ESEA support and they issued the refund. Idk if this is the reason it's blocked. I can provide proof of this ESEA stuff if needed too.
u/xsollasupport - I've seen this account respond to a couple posts similar to this and am hoping my account can be manually reviewed. I've need be I'd go to proving my identity to clear things up. If the ESEA thing did block my account, I am willing to re-pay for that from back in 2019 to fix this.
I am really hoping I can find some help on this issue, I've been through the numerous support platforms and all of them give the same automated response.
Edit: My issue was resolved, I had to go through all the hoops and reach out on every platform but finally found someone able to fix my issue. I went through Messager and when asked for my email associated with the account, I just immediately asked for a human and an escalated case. Turns out I was told a third reason that my account was flagged for abnormal purchase behavior and locked. They unlocked it then and allowed to try to purchase again.

2024.05.07 16:44 Board_Avenger The potential human capacity for task avoidance is a thing of wonder

I was here a while back asking about how to block YouTube properly on an iPhone (I came to the conclusion that it’s almost impossible to do it comprehensively without significant negative side effects even with supervision/profile because of how iOS handles blacklisting of domains).
I currently have YouTube and Instagram domains blocked under the “adult content” filtering system (which means I have to deal with the annoyance of occasionally unblocking a domain that isn’t actually “adult” and got caught in the crossfire). This doesn’t prevent me from downloading the apps, which I could do with Configurator, but so far is being avoided purely due to my intense hatred of the iPhone apps and reduced control over the content (ads and such): I used both in browser with filtering/blocking on.
I’ve since realised that it’s almost immaterial, however, because I will simply find another way to inject dopamine blasts into my eyes: if it’s not YouTube then it’s Instagram, and if I block both of those, I try BlueSky, and when I realise that’s not doing it for me, I end up here on Reddit even though I am very much Not A Reddit Person in general. This is quite likely to be highly correlated with the prevalence of ADHD traits that have recently (finally) led to me going through a diagnostic assessment process to see whether I am going to be formally diagnosed or just told that I have traits but it’s not considered severe enough to actually diagnose and treat (another thing piling on the anxiety is how determined the doctor seemed to be to not end up at an ADHD diagnosis).
I have a lot of anxiety about the way my career is going which is of course adding to the difficulty of engaging with it which only makes the problem worse. The only thing that seems to keep me away from the doomscrolling pit of despair is good/engaging things happening IRL, which lately isn’t going so well and I am not finding it to be something I am effective at enforcing for myself (yes, perhaps I should simply “touch grass”, but that too gives me anxiety about task avoidance and is harder work and less instantly gratifying than sitting scrolling bullshit on the internet for seven hours).
I’m going to see if I can also block Reddit, and find out if having access on my computers is still enough of a problem if I get it blocked on my phone. I wonder what my next life-wasting distraction will turn out to be? 😅
If you have found yourself falling into similar patterns and managed to figure out any coping mechanisms, what did that look like?

Are there any ad blocker extensions for Chrome that you trust and know won't negatively impact the performance of a computer or mobile phone?
Are there any ad blocker extensions for Chrome that you trust and know won't negatively impact the performance of a computer or mobile phone?

Section 1. Introduction

Ad blocking has become increasingly popular in recent years as a way for users to enhance their privacy and online experience. However, some ad blockers may have unintended consequences on device performance if not implemented carefully. In this article, we will evaluate the top ad blocking extensions available for Chrome and provide recommendations on options that offer robust blocking capabilities without compromising performance.

A. Importance of ad blockers for online privacy and ad-free browsing experience

The proliferation of online advertisements has expanded dramatically in the digital era. While ads play an important role in supporting free content and services on the web, they also present privacy and usability concerns. Ad networks track users across multiple sites and devices to build profiles for targeted advertising. With no easy way for users to opt-out, this widespread tracking threatens online privacy.
Beyond privacy, advertisements can also negatively impact the browsing experience. Intrusive ads that pop up or take over the screen, auto-playing videos with sound, and a excessively high ad density all contribute to user frustration. For some, ads can even slow down page loading or cause websites to crash on low-powered devices.
Installing an ad blocker helps regain control over both privacy and experience online. It prevents trackers from following users unknowingly and removes disruptive/intrusive ads that degrade the user experience. This allows for a more peaceful, distraction-free browsing session.

B. Impact of ad blockers on device performance

While ad blockers solve privacy and usability problems, it's also important to consider their impact on device performance. Some low-quality ad blockers may inadvertently slow down browsers, consume significant memory and CPU resources, or cause stability issues. This happens when they are poorly optimized, bloated with unnecessary code, or not properly configured.
Efficient ad blocking requires identifying ad content accurately without loading excessively large blocklists or complex resource-intensive code on each webpage visit. Blocking the wrong elements could break site functionality too. A delicate balance needs to be struck between robust blocking and minimal performance overhead.
For low-powered devices like phones, even small reductions in efficiency from an ad blocker can negatively impact the user experience over time through slower page loads, higher data usage, reduced battery life and potential crashes. Heavier users also need high-performance options.
Therefore, in this article we will focus on recommending extensions that effectively block ads and trackers while keeping any performance impact minimal through lightweight code and optimized lists/algorithms. Our goal is to identify options you can trust not to burden your device.

Section 2. Criteria for Selecting a Reliable Ad Blocker Extension

When choosing an ad blocker extension, there are several factors to consider regarding both functionality and performance:

A. Effectiveness in blocking ads

The primary purpose of an ad blocker is blocking advertisements. It should implement robust filtering lists from trusted sources like EasyList to block the widest range of ads without compromising too much on effectiveness. Advanced options for customizing filters are ideal too.

B. Minimal impact on device performance

As discussed earlier, performance needs to be a priority too. The extension should have a lightweight codebase and optimized algorithms/lists to impose minimal overhead in terms of memory, CPU and network usage as well as page load times.

C. Privacy protection and user data policies

Beyond blocking, it's preferable if the extension does not compromise user privacy itself, is open source for transparency, and has a privacy-respecting data policy. Options with built-in anti-tracking features are a bonus.

D. Compatibility with different platforms (desktop, mobile)

Given this article focuses on Chrome, the extension should be compatible with both Chrome desktop andChrome mobile/Android at minimum for maximum usability. Compatibility with other browsers like Firefox is an advantage too.
Keeping these criteria in mind, we will now evaluate some of the most popular ad blocking extensions available for Chrome.

Section 3. Recommended Ad Blocker Extensions for Chrome

Based on effectiveness, performance impact, and other considerations, here are three top extensions that balance ad blocking and minimal resource usage well:

A. uBlock Origin

uBlock Origin (uBO) is a light yet powerful open source content blocker focused on efficiency and user privacy. It stands out for its low memory usage, minimal CPU/battery consumption, and great blocking capabilities without impacting sites.

Features and functionality

  • Blocks ads, trackers and other unwanted content through filter lists from sources like EasyList and Peter Lowe’s ad/tracker lists.
  • Provides granular controls to customize blocking behavior and filter lists. Plus features to disable blocking temporarily.
  • Built-in anti-tracking and cookie removal capabilities enhance privacy.

Performance impact

uBO is extremely lightweight, using under 5MB of RAM even on pages with hundreds of requests. It maintains near-zero impact on page load times and system resources.

Pros and cons

  • Open source with a strong privacy focus and transparent development process.
  • Highly effective blocking without breaking sites or adding lag. Works great even on low-end systems.
  • Regularly updated with new threat lists and features. Compatible with all major browsers.
  • Interface can be a bit technical for beginners to navigate compared to alternatives.
Overall, uBlock Origin is highly recommended for its perfect balance of powerful ad blocking and minimal resource usage. It remains the best free extension for both desktop and mobile Chrome.

B. AdGuard

AdGuard is a popular multi-platform ad blocker (Chrome, Firefox, Safari etc.) with a clean interface. It offers effective blocking along with tracker protection and optional paid premium features.

Features and functionality

  • Blocks ads, trackers and unwanted elements through integrated filters from sources like EasyList.
  • Built-in tracker protection and anti-fingerprinting ability enhances user privacy online.
  • Premium versions add abilities like network-wide ad blocking via its VPN-like AdGuard DNS.

Performance impact

While still lightweight, AdGuard uses slightly more memory/CPU than uBO. But the impact remains minor without notable slowdowns. Page load times stay largely unaffected.

Pros and cons

  • Effective blocking with tracker protection and optional premium privacy features.
  • Smooth and unified experience across platforms/devices with mobile apps too.
  • Simple and intuitive user interface appeals to beginners.
  • Uses marginally more resources than ultra-lightweight uBO, especially in premium versions.
AdGuard provides a very good mix of features, usability and performance. It remains a top free option that doesn't burden devices.

C. Ghostery

Ghostery combines ad blocking with a tracker database to highlight the trackers present on each site. It emphasizes user control, transparency and a clean experience.

Features and functionality

  • Blocks ads, trackers and unwanted requests through integrated filter lists.
  • Unique tracker identification panel shows all trackers detected on a page.
  • Advanced options include tracker blocking, white/blacklisting and tracker-specific controls.

Performance impact

Ghostery uses noticeably more memory and CPU than either uBO or AdGuard at times. Page load times aren't greatly affected though.

Pros and cons

  • Provides unique tracker transparency through its panel to see what tracks users.
  • Highly customizable blocking featuring granular tracker controls.
  • Clean and intuitive interface looks appealing.
  • Has a more significant impact on memory and CPU usage compared to lighter options.
While a bit heavier, Ghostery remains usable on most devices. Its tracker insights provide extra value for some over lighter blockers.

D. Other notable ad blocker extensions

A few other popular Chrome extensions worth briefly mentioning include:
  • ABP (AdBlock Plus): An early veteran but uses more memory and CPU than lighter options. Integrates Acceptable Ads program for some non-intrusive ads.
  • Privacy Badger: From EFF, it focuses on tracking protection but doesn't block all ads out of the box like heavier dedicated blockers.
  • AdBlock: An earlier sibling to ABP, it shares its weaknesses regarding resource usage and acceptable ads policy.
In summary, uBlock Origin stands out as the lightweight yet highly effective choice, while AdGuard offers a great blend of features without impact. Ghostery provides useful tracker tools but uses more RAM and CPU than ideal.

Section 4. Performance Considerations

Beyond just the extensions themselves, there are other factors like filter lists, configuration, and device capabilities that impact overall performance with ad blocking:

A. Impact of ad blockers on CPU and memory usage

Even lightweight extensions will consume a small amount of system resources to run their blocking processes. But heavier extensions can use significantly more memory (10-50MB+) and keep the CPU active more often. This is magnified on lower-end devices.

B. Effect on page load times

While modern blockers try to load asynchronously not to slow pages, processing blocklists still requires processing time upfront. Sites with hundreds of requests see slightly higher loading latency on average versus unblocked. Faster hardware helps compensate.

C. Strategies for minimizing performance impact

  • Use a lightweight extension and avoid unnecessary extensions overall
  • Limit installed filter lists to only what provides value
  • Whitelist sites with minimal non-intrusive ads if they load noticeably faster
  • Disable blocking on lower-powered devices when possible
  • Close tabs when not in use to reduce memory footprint
  • Consider cache-friendly ad blockers on slower connections
With proper configuration and choosing optimized extensions, the real-world performance hit on average devices is usually minimal and worth the privacy gains. But heavier approaches exact more of a toll.

Section 5. Installation and Configuration Tips

Now that we've explored the top options, here are some tips for installing and configuring extensions effectively:

A. Downloading and installing the extension

Chrome extensions are installed through the Chrome Web Store. Simply search for the extension, click "Add to Chrome", and it will install with basic default settings.

B. Customizing settings and filter lists

Most extensions allow customizing the type of content blocked as well as enabled filter lists through their browser Options/Settings page. Take time to learn interface and tweak as needed.

C. Whitelisting trusted websites

To avoid breaking any essential sites, consider temporarily whitelisting them in the extension if they malfunction with blocking. Re-enable once site issues are resolved.
A few minutes spent setting up with consideration for battery/performance can make a big difference to avoid any unintended slowdowns over the long run. Always make sure extensions are up to date too.

Section 6. Conclusion

In this extensive article, we evaluated some of the top ad blocking extensions for Chrome across several criteria including effectiveness, performance impact, features and usability. The goal was to identify options that deliver robust ad/tracker blocking without compromising device performance over time.
For the best balance of powerful yet lightweight blocking, uBlock Origin emerges as the top overall recommendation thanks to its minimal resource demands. It achieves top-notch blocking capabilities without noticeable impact.
AdGuard provides a very good alternative with additional anti-tracking and optional premium features, staying lightweight as well.
While heavier on resources, Ghostery brings unique tracker insights for some through its Identification Panel.
Keeping performance in mind, even seemingly small reductions from "heavier" blockers can accumulate over long mobile/laptop usage to negatively impact battery life and user experience. Choosing optimized options maintains privacy gains without such tradeoffs.
In summary, uBlock Origin is highly recommended as the best free lightweight option for powerful privacy without performance compromise. For mobile browsers especially, focusing on optimized extensions becomes important to prevent slower speeds or reduced uptime over time. With a bit of initial configuration, ad blocking can vastly improve the browsing experience seamlessly on any device.

Factors to Consider When Choosing TheVPN: Reddit (My Honest Review

Y:\Downloads\BatchCompress.com\5_Best_VPNs_According_to_Reddit_My_Honest_Review_for_2024_0004.jpg
When I set out to find the best VPN, I knew I'd to take into account several important factors to make an informed choice. Security features, speed, reliability, cost, device compatibility, and legal considerations all played a part in my review process.
Let's explore how TheVPN stacks up in each of these areas according to Reddit users.
https://preview.redd.it/4fyr14pj2zxc1.jpg?width=1006&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=67ce975aea729f155037cb6e19ef261b5310fdca

Security Features Highlight

Delving into the security features, I've found that VPNs not only enhance online privacy but also fortify your digital safety with tools like DNS leak protection and instant kill switches. These features are essential because they prevent your data from being exposed during unexpected disconnects or vulnerabilities.
Additionally, the encryption provided by VPNs masks your IP address and online activities, shielding you from potential cyber threats. What's more, a strict no-logs policy is a game-changer. It means that the VPN doesn't store any details about your internet usage, ensuring your online actions remain private and untraceable.
This thorough approach to security makes VPNs an essential tool for safeguarding your digital life.

Speed and Reliability

Reddit users often stress the importance of a VPN's speed and reliability for a seamless online experience. From personal encounters, it's evident that a VPN that lags or frequently disconnects can be exasperating. Fast connection speeds are crucial for smooth website access and media streaming, reducing buffering frustrations. Moreover, reliability is vital, particularly for activities like online gaming or downloading large files that demand a stable internet connection. Opting for a VPN with a reputation for consistent performance not only protects your online endeavors but also ensures uninterrupted usage. Consequently, I consistently prioritize these aspects when selecting a VPN due to their significant influence on the quality of online interactions.

Cost Efficiency Analysis

After considering the importance of speed and reliability, I also assess the cost efficiency of a VPN to make sure I'm getting the best value for my money. Evaluating a VPN's cost involves more than just looking at the price tag. It's about analyzing what I'm getting in return. I check subscription plans, look for discounts, and consider any additional services they might offer. Understanding the pricing structure is key. Does it align with the features provided?
Moreover, considering long-term benefits is essential. Sometimes paying a bit more upfront can save money in the long run if the VPN offers exceptional service and reliability. It's all about the balance between cost and value.

Device Compatibility Check

When selecting a VPN, I always make sure it's compatible with all my devices, from smartphones to laptops. It's essential that the VPN works across Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and even routers.
I check if it allows simultaneous connections on multiple gadgets, which is a necessity for covering all my tech. Also, browser compatibility is vital for seamless browsing, so I guarantee it integrates well with Google Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge.
Dedicated apps for specific devices are a significant benefit, ensuring top performance and ease of use. Finally, I verify the VPN supports various connection protocols to maintain compatibility across different network environments, enhancing flexibility and security.

Legal Considerations Overview

Understanding the legal considerations of using a VPN is vital for guaranteeing compliance with the laws specific to each country. The legality of VPNs varies widely, with some nations having restrictions or outright bans on their use. It's essential for users, like myself, to be aware of these laws to make sure we're using VPNs legally and securely.
For instance, services like NordVPN not only comply with legal regulations but also offer robust security features, enhanced privacy, and faster connection speeds. This makes them a preferred choice for those of us seeking both compliance and performance.
When choosing a VPN, it's not just about unblocking content; it's also about staying on the right side of the law.

Service Accessibility Options

While considering the legal aspects of VPNs, I also evaluated the service accessibility options critical for my online needs. I looked for VPNs that let me connect multiple devices at once. It's essential when I'm juggling between my laptop, phone, and tablet. I also checked if they offer dedicated IP addresses, which enhance both security and privacy.
Moreover, I sought out VPNs with a variety of protocols and strong encryption types to guarantee robust security. A no-logs policy was non-negotiable for protecting my privacy. Features like DNS leak protection and an instant kill switch were also on my checklist, as they prevent accidental exposure of my data during VPN downtime or failure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Use a Single VPN Account on Multiple Devices?

Yes, I can use a single VPN account on multiple devices. Most providers allow simultaneous connections, letting me secure various gadgets at once, which is super convenient for both personal and family use.

How Do VPNS Handle My Data Privacy With Advertisers?

I've found that most VPNs claim to protect my data privacy from advertisers by not logging browsing activity or sharing information. However, it's important to check their privacy policies to confirm this.

Conclusion

After diving deep into Reddit's discussions and testing these VPNs myself, I've learned that the best VPN for you depends largely on your specific needs. Whether it's speed, security, or unrestricted access, each of these top picks has unique strengths.
Personally, I found VPN.AC to strike the best balance for most users. Remember, always prioritize what features matter most to you and consider trying a few to find your perfect online privacy partner.

2024.04.30 04:41 Yashland I'm a horrible son

I'm currently a high school freshman. Since the day I started 6th grade, I have been slacking on many assignments, even today. I lie to my parents about doing these assignments, and when they find out I haven't done them, obviously they get mad at me and yell at me. They are nice parents - they give me many chances to hold myself accountable and fix my mistakes, but they have had enough now. This is my 5th time lying to my parents about doing 6 assignments and test scores. They've taken away my phone and I am typing this using an unblocked browser on my school's computer. I can't hold myself accountable, I can't fix my mistakes, I continuously lie, I slack on my assignments, I get bad test scores. This is not my parent's fault at all. They should be mad at me because a person learns from their mistakes but I do not. I just keep messing up every time. My parents are mad at me at least once every week. I have lost their trust.

2024.04.28 01:36 This-Long-9675 Unity Learn videos not loading

I am currently trying to watch the tutorial videos that Unity provides but I am always met with a buffering video. I have put in a ticket but since those take 2 months at the moment I wanted to see if anybody else had the same problem.
I have tried many things such as clearing cache, disabling browser extensions, and trying on different devices and networks. The one bit of information that I can provide is when I try on my iPhone it gives me this error "The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported". I have not seen anybody else with this problem and the people that I have asked said it might be Unity's fault. The one issue I have with this is that I know people that can still load the videos as of this moment.
Edit:
I have figured it out after way too long. I noticed that the videos were being blocked by CORS policy because the Unity servers were giving me bad headers. The way I fixed it was by installing CORS Unblocked. This confirms my theory that it is Unity's fault, but I don't like that I have to bypass a safety feature because Unity's servers aren't acting properly. Thanks to everybody that tried to help me fix this issue!

2024.04.21 14:26 Spiritual-Nerve-1422 Executing SQL in Your Browser: A WebAssembly Experiment!

Hey everyone,
I've been diving into WebAssembly lately, exploring its capabilities on the web.

Just wanted to share that I create a small project where you can execute SQL directly in your browser using WebAssembly. Plus, you can even export SQLite databases. The data persistence is handled through OPFS. Additionally, to keep the main thread unblocked, I've implemented Web Workers for executing SQL queries in a separate worker thread, leaving the main thread free for UI rendering.

Check it out: https://waah-sql.vercel.app/

2024.04.18 17:39 WiteXDan Setting up your browser to minimize procrastination - here is how I've done it

For years I have spent much too much time on my PC, but it was mostly due to playing video games. Nowadays that it switched to browsing internet problem became more severe. After wasting years on it I feel I finally found out how I can manage it with browser extensions and sharing it so someone might find it also useful.
The majority of it was setting up LeechBlock NG to filter out sites that were eating my time. Starting with youtube here is my blocklist: +youtube.com/@* +youtube.com/feed/playlists +youtube.com/playlist* +youtube.com/results* +youtube.com/watch* youtube.com/shorts youtube.com twitch.tv twitter.com Blocks whole youtube except for videos, searching, playlists and channels. List is on 24h every day, but isn't locked in case I want to change something as I am not too addicted to Youtube anyways. Also threw in Twitch as it's easier to waste time there than on Youtube streams. Also blocked Twitter. I use it only on phone, but rarely.
leagueoflegends.fandom.com/ lolalytics reddit.com/leagueoflegends reddit.com/leagueofmemes op.gg gol.gg u.gg leagueofgraphs.com/ All on 24h every day with locked settings. No need to change anything as I want to be cut off from all league content.
+reddit.com/message/messages +reddit.com/*/comments/* +reddit.com/HaircareScience/ +reddit.com/Healthygamergg +reddit.com/adhd +reddit.com/bodyweightfitness +reddit.com/cptsd +reddit.com/exercisepostures +reddit.com/flexibility +reddit.com/learntodraw +reddit.com/photography +reddit.com/physiotherapy reddit.com/user new.reddit.com old.reddit.com reddit.com/all reddit.com Now the big one, reddit. I have unlocked comments, so I can find specific reddit threads through google instead of scrolling reddit. Then a few subreddits that I find productive to browse (tbf I rarely do) and blocked reddit with some bypasses.
Now the important thing is to set it up on every browser you have installed and turn Leechblock for incognito mode. Basically all ways you would try to bypass these blocks. You can block access to settings and extension tab in settings. I would sometimes do this, but leave one day in a week with unblocked settings in case I need to change something.
You can do much more with leechblock, like be able to browse reddit for 10 minutes every 3 hours before it gets blocked or have it unlocked at specific time every day, but it wasn't effective for me.

Additionally I use these: Hide shorts for Youtube (self explanatory) RescueTime (stats of my PC use) Unhook (hide recommendations on yt)
But still Leechblock is major thing. Keeping me away from League content makes me want to play it less (didn't for over a month now). Not seeing main page of youtube and recommendations also makes me use it much less. Though at first it was huge struggle to not disable these blocks or bypass them. After sometime it got much easier and my days got better.
