Hello everyone!
First of all, English is not my mother language, so bear with me.
I'm going to drop the exploration mechanics that the book suggests because neither my players nor me are enjoying them no more. I think it slows the pace of the game for us. So, I'm going to take a Critical Role approach and make my players roll a d20 and if the result is 5 or lower, a random encounter takes place. I want to have at least one weather option and a non-combat option. But my question is: what interesting enemies can I have prepared for them to fight? They are an abjuration wizard, a moon circle druid and a drakewarden ranger. They are all lvl 5 (and have been for a while now) because we started the campaign at lvl 3 after doing phandelver's mine. I say this because I want some challenging monsters with interesting mechanics (I hate stationery combats where you surround the enemy and take turns to hit him). They are going to mostly travel by boat.
(You can answer both in English or in Spanish)

I am working on a game in C++ and I'm generating random terrain with a lengthly perlin noise function. I want to use the best practices I can in this project as I intend to work on this for years to come. Running this function in my main thread means that my window can't update until the function is done. My initial idea is to use threads, which I'm not comfortable using but I can learn.
My other idea is to make a temporary array of instruction objects that I can slowly increment through as part of the game loop. I would have an instruction class stored in the header responsible for the terrain generation and I would execute one or more of these instruction objects. I know how to do it but I want to use the best implementation.

My idea for incremental processing has 4 problems:
- More memory usage to store the temporary instructions.
- More design complexity and it's harder to read and understand the code.
- Limitations of the game loop speed (I could create a fast update function that doesn't depend on tick speed)
- The time it takes for the instructions to be added to the queue would have to be faster than running the algorithm in its entirety in order for this to save any time, otherwise I'm trading one kind of lag for another.

It's been a while since I watched the movie so this might be answered but I have a question.
They had the gate. Had a broken tablet with a 6 symbol address. And got the gate moving, chevrons locking etc. But couldn't establish a wormhole until Jackson worked out what the symbols were.
Here is my question. Given the gate only contains 39 symbols. And has 9 chevrons, why did nobody think to dial the 6 they have and then just cycle through the 39 symbols? It wouldn't have taken more than an afternoon even with the SGCs slow dialing speed.
The only thing is maybe if they think you need to dial all 9. But even then that's only 59,000 combinations. Assuming 5 mins per dial, only going 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. That wouldn't even be 2 1/2 years to try the remaining combinations on top of the 6 symbols you have. For a thing you've had since the 50s that seems like a place to start. Easy enough for a few guys to just power through.
Especially when they did once accidentally make a wormhole and knew that took 7 symbols! And they did that by dialing completely random symbols.

[Long post] We’ve benefited from this thread so much, even after traveling to Japan in the past, and often see the question “does this plan make sense/how much time do we need, etc?”that I hope our recent exact itinerary traveling with 13 yo twins and a 75 yo mother can answer some common questions about our return experience in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Nikko (which we adore).
Also, YES there was screen time. YES people were unpleasant due to jet lag. YES YES YES we adjusted plans and “missed out” on things. Flexibility is key! We never got to Senso-ji or did conveyor sushi because we ended up at a random temple flea market for over two hours finding our most prized souvenirs. Welcome serendipity - the unplanned boba store near Tokyo station remains one of my daughter’s favorite memories.
Onto our itinerary. We stayed in AirBnb’s, an onsen, and a hotel our last two nights in Tokyo.

Long story short: 70 free pulls in normal banner (light/dark unit possible) and 1 random fire/watenature 5* from 7 days login. Also part 2 of story & new mode (automaton tower in e7). Also other QoLs.

I've been playing this for half a year (5$ monthly spend) and I'm actually pleasantly surprised by how they are running things for being an epic 7 clone (with porn).
They made some changes to the units's kits. Some positive, some questionable, but nothing really broken (except for Erica, the best unit in the game still since launch. Probably dev's favorite).
This is actually the first porn game I played where the porn, while pretty good, actually is second to the gameplay. It's a pvp centric game and so far, everything is relatively balanced in that every single team has a counterplay.
After all the early complaints about using AI art, they're basically all gone from latest units (or retouched so heavily I can't tell anymore).
Pull currency is also plentiful (as long as you aren't literally pulling EVERYTHING), and they rerun banners often (some units are already reran 3x).
Pity counter is also kept between reruns if you didn't land the unit.
Also, they made a browser version! And it's by far the best way to play the game on PC (bye emulators).
I pretty much picked up monthly sub to support the game even though I didn't really need anything except gear (extra monthly gems are nice, i guess).
I initially just wanted to try it out and ended up sticking with the game and will probably be playing for the long term now.
Now for the juicy part. According to datamined stuff there will be a possible collaboration with Projekt Melody (vtuber) and HongKong Doll (18+ fleshtuber) in upcoming months.
Projekt Melody is pretty much confirmed because she already has her in-game artwork datamined, and she did a collab with the developers' previous game (Cherry Tale).
If it's like past collabs they will each have an unique event, 3 scenes (2 static + 1 animated & fully voiced), and kit imported from limited e7 units (with changes/buffs).
In case of last fleshtuber collab (Akaoni) they made an anime-style avatar of their likeness.
Since HK Doll is pretty much a porn star, if this goes through, we can probably expect more pornstar collaborations in the future.
They did put up an ingame survey a few weeks ago and one of the questions is who to collab with.
Game's also been #1 on Erolabs since its launch so the sky's pretty much the limit for this one.

I have baked a Game for you -Princess Vivi (Peach) Okay but seriously, Im making a game a lot like zelda 1, and I decided the main character is on the Acespec because yall deserve more than the like...3 good ace characters 😭. Now, out of a desire to be accurate to the source material, I figured, instead of collecting triangles to save some random girl, what if you were collecting ingredients for a tasty sandwich. Truly, my writing genius knows no bounds. I have been told the bread of choice is garlic bread, but alas, Ive never had it as anything but a side dish But this begs the question: what is best to make garlic bread into/with? I used to have a normal sleep schedule - in bed and asleep by 9 and awake at 6:30.
Now I’ve had career changes and moved to nyc and go to bed 1 am at the earliest, around 4 am at the latest, waking up around 9:30-10:30 every day.
When I get less than 7 hours I am miserable the next day, but I just love being awake at night. I feel so creative and free and love spending the time with myself. I love being alive and feel there’s so much to do and learn and so little time during the day lol.
I take adderall for my severe adhd, I can only stay up when I take it. When I am taking breaks I am usually exhausted and will fall asleep much earlier. I’m sure the meds are affecting my sleep schedule, but I need them to function during the day.
For the most part when I try to sleep I can sleep, even on days when I take the meds. But I just don’t want to, I somewhat force myself to stay up on my phone because I have so many thoughts and ideas and questions.
I don’t even really let myself get tired when I’m supposed to, because I’ll find something interesting and go down a rabbit hole or come up with some creative idea that I NEED to plan right in that moment (lol) until I literally need to force myself to go to bed.
I know I need to fix this because the lack of sleep is 100% hurting me, my days are so busy I just feel like night is the only time I get to unwind and relax and get to all the random thoughts I had to push away during the busy work day. It somewhat feels like I’m wasting time going to sleep (which I know isn’t true and I know all of the amazing benefits of healthy sleep - hence why I’m posting here lol)
I take magnesium and l theanine to try and force myself to be tired - they don’t really help unless I’m already exhausted that day.
I exercise 1-2 times a day so I know it’s not an exercise thing … any suggestions on how to make myself more disciplined are much appreciated :)

As mentioned I just finished the return. Been watching everything in release order for the last month and Twin Peaks has easily become one of my favorite shows. Besides me reeling at that ending and so many other questions I have, what is going on with Audrey?? I mean she shows up over halfway through the season and is ranting and raving about characters that are never introduced or involved in any other plot points going on. What happened to Billy is only ever talked about by two other random characters at The Roadhouse (also’s Lynch’s wife I found out lol) And then of course the last scene of her dance then suddenly appearing in front of a mirror in a white room, never to be seen again?? I have such low self esteem that i cant seem to fix no matter what, which i feel like is at the root of all my problems.
I'm a compulsive liar. I lie about everything, random things where i dont have any need to lie just because it makes people laugh or view me as being "cool"
I cant take myself seriously. Like people always call me funny but its really bc i dont think i really respect myself as a person and dedicate myself to doing stupid bits just to make people laugh
Ive been complimented a lot (not trying to brag) but ive never been able to internalize it. People tell me that im attractive or funny or whatever but in my head its always been "he/she's just saying that" and i put it aside. Compliments really mean nothing to me because they all seem fake and i still just feel like the same piece of shit
Ive never had a romantic relationship despite having many opportunities to get into one because either - i get less attracted to a girl when they start being more attracted to me - or i just let a girl walk all over me bc i have no self respect I cant pick up the most obvious flirting because in my head theres no way anyone would be attracted to me like that and theyre probably just joking
And looking back ive been in so many situations where people just manipulate or use me because i dont have the self respect to set any real boundaries or actively define myself as a person deserving of respect.
It probably stems from the fact that i was really lonely as a child. I didnt have friends at all until like a year ago where i started becoming more outgoing, but i still feel lonely at my core. I even lie to my closest friends about small things just because theyll view me better
I recognize that im insecure but its so deeply embedded in me i dont know where to even start on how to fix it. Does anyone have any practical ways (not therapy bc expensive) that i can try and work through this?

After changing to a new phone (around a month or so ago), reddit was driving me up the wall. First of all, ad content filters stopped working completely (I have fitness and dating turned off, butI get them in my feed regularly). What's even worse, it looks like my recommendations are mostly location based now - I've never been interested in local subreddits since I don't speak the local language. And if it's not some local subreddit, it's just some random stuff like facepalm or whatnot, which I never showed interest in. Some of them are just vile or triggering, just from seeing them in my notification bar. What's really sad is that I had a perfect recommendation system tuned to my hobbies and that's how I discovered a lot of stuff I now engage on a daily basis. At this point, the recommendations can't even be turned off (my slider is grayed out, but I still get them nonstop), and the ads are maddening, to the point that I'm actively considering switching to a 3rd party app.
I guess my question is, can I salvage it in any way? Was it some recent update that messed up recommendations, ads or notification permissions?

my close relative is getting a spinal fusion soon. I am very worried and problably overthinking everything. She is quite healthy but she has some autoimmune issues such as hypothyriodism, eczema, alergies that are curently symptomatic. I am worried that weaker immune system could affect the healing or maybe contribute to getting infection etc... I know there are worse problems than alergies and eczema but I am curious. She probably also has some form of connective tissue/hypermobility disorder but genetic testing was negative.
So I would like to ask maybe a little bit random question. People who had the surgery and also have other autoimmune and health issues, how was the post-op, any complications? How are you doing now?

I've had functionally zero physical endurance since having Covid in 2022. Even just the amount of walking required for routine grocery shopping leaves me worn out. My family took a Disney trip a few months before I had Covid, and I was on my feet all-day-every-day for over a week; that level of activity is unthinkable to me now. I've also had a persistent cough and random, unexplained bouts of gagging since the Covid. The one thing I'm not having is the muscle pains I'm seeing others describe.
I recently came across some articles on ME/CFS and it sounds very much like what's going on with me. I went to my GP and explained my symptoms, and as expected he didn't mention it as a possibility. I stopped short of mentioning my suspicion of ME/CFS specifically, since saying "I read about this thing online" is the fastest way to get a doctor to ignore what you have to say. He prescribed a vitamin D supplement, suggesting a deficiency could be the cause of the fatigue. Six weeks on it and no real improvement.
The big hurdle I face is that I'm overweight. Definitely not morbidly so, but still beyond what's probably healthy. My concern is that any doctor will just point to my weight and blame that for the fatigue rather than entertaining any other suggestions.
My questions are basically:
1) Can anyone suggest a way to 'nudge' a doctor towards looking into ME/CFS without outright saying it?
2) Failing that, how do I get them to look past my weight and actually take my concerns seriously?
I am in the USA and on Medicaid.

2024.05.14 09:51 axolotloofah Is it legal for a big box retail store to force you to return something after they have already sold you it and then call the cops?
Purchased multiple clearance items at a big box retail store location. There were numerous of the product with clearly marked signage stating $0.98 each. It was such a good deal, I took the lot for myself and to share between friends and family. There was NO signage stating any "max quantity per customer." In fact the big box store in question often does bulk savings deals so it doesn't even make any sense that they would have ever had a max quantity per customer limit on this product. I also happen to know the product was being discontinued in this store so basically they want rid of it I was probably actually doing them a favor. Went to a regular checkout and was checked out by an employee. Paid for the items (over $300) got my receipt and was about to leave. I was stopped by a supervisor only after I paid who honestly seemed disgruntled more than anything that I had got such a good deal on an item that was otherwise clearly marked and centrally located that anybody could have got some for themselves if they wanted it - fact is they hadn't. At no point during me loading my cart, or walking around the store, or during checkout was I stopped by anybody. The employee that checked me out did not call anybody, it was just a random manager walking by that all of a sudden had a problem probably because it just clearly looked like I had a lot of the same item in my cart. She called a lower level manager over and then they both appeared to make up between themselves on the spot that all of a sudden there was a max quantity of 5 per person and that I needed to return everything. I stated there was no signage stating this and their employee had already checked me out. They then called over another manager who also tried to get me to return the items after they'd spoken between themselves. They then told me not to leave the store and left to go get somebody else whilst I waited with my paid for goods at the store exit. Multiple other employees, the cashier and multiple other customers stated that what they were doing was highly unprofessional and one other employee specifically said "they can't do that". Again there was no signage to state a max order quantity or I would have abided by it, and I was not told anything by the cashier who checked me out before the purchase was made. I was stood at the exit for about 10-15 mins at this point voluntarily waiting for them to return - honestly more curious than anything on what they had planned to do - no ETA given on when anybody was coming back over to me so I was just stood there like a lemon with my paid for items. Given that I had paid for my items and essentially was being held against my will with seemingly zero urgency from the disgruntled employees to come back and having appointments and other errands to run I left to go pack my car as I wasn't going to just wait around all day for them. On leaving the store all of a sudden one of the lower level managers in question runs to the front of the store as I am leaving and says "call the cops hes leaving" over her walkie and then proceeded to describe my car to them. I assume they called the cops, but they didn't show up at any point while I loaded my car or brought my cart back and I was in no rush. So basically I am curious where I stand in this. I am also really curious what they'd be saying to the cops. "Hey someone left the store with merchandise" ... "Are they stealing it?" ... "No he paid for it" …. ?
Again take away points are the clearance was fully marked with pricing on a letter sized piece of paper, I paid for my items through a regular checkout by an employee, there was ZERO signage to state a max order quantity per customer and this was made up after I had already checked out and fully paid for my items. They then were trying to force me to stay in the store and return my products and then had the audacity to call the cops.
Where do I stand on this if this were to happen again? If there was signage stating a max order quantity OR if there was a store policy which there isn't OR if they had stopped me prior to checking out this would be a totally different scenario imo. Curious what others thoughts are. I also can almost guarantee that if I had just bought 10 of the item, nobody would have come over and said "there's a max of 5."

See, if I were to ever bait post, I’d only to please DOMS! To talk about how much money I’ve spent in the last few weeks! ($800+ on one person,) my consistency in satisfying my dom (evidence of our non exclusive interactions benefiting her greatly), and outwardly charming personality to make conversation enjoyable outside of domming! I remember last semester I procrastinated a lot. That resulted it so very very hard a month before the exams. I refused hanging out with my friends just because I had to study. I spent many hours studying. Two subjects per day because I have no time to focus on only one. And I feel like I focused more on the first one than the second one. I have a hard time putting equal effort in subject.
I studied hard yet i barely passed. While my best friend took my notes three days before the exam. The last day before the exam she returned it and I studied hard. Since the exams were online I studied in the morning before the exam too.
I hate myself for having such on anxiety before and during and after exams. Especially during. The question could be easy yet my mind would go blank. I collected myself somehow because I had 30 minutes for 26 questions that were long and you need to time to read them and think about them. When I saw that I had one minute left I went back to the questions I couldn’t answer and I just picked random answers. Yet I had a D. I mean i still passed but my best friend who studied to the last possible minute and barely went to lectures during the semester had a C. it has been like that in high school. My classmates wouldn’t put effort yet they passed.
I literally have to study two times more than everyone to have a grade two times lower than theirs. Maybe university is not for me. I don’t know what to do. My colleagues care about having good grades yet I care about passing.

Felt the need to share this experience since it was so awesome.
I landed on a planet to confirm some death for a mission. I drank water and ate before I stepped off my redeemer. I made it a little ways before noticing I wasn’t wearing my helmet. Then I died LOL
I respawned at a small station. I claimed my ship and headed back this time with my trusty helmet tightly secured.
I was a few kilometers out when I came under attack by 4 vessels. Idk what ships they were but they seemed to pilot too well for ai. I had a criminal status for shooting sentries for a mission prior. (Even though I’m pretty sure it was a legal mission) idk
They blew my wing off and I slowly started to lose altitude on the way at full speed. I popped open my hatch and b lined for the mission objective site. As I slowly was going down at a high rate of speed I skimmed off the top of a mountain. Upon meeting the ground I began to tumble.
Once my ship came to a stop on its side I moved to the nearest exit. As I stepped out of the ship I came out standing next to my other redeemer. SICK! I thought. Anyways I ran into the objective to find the individual in question. But I was freezing to death and had to abandon my search.
I made my way onto my first ship when the sound of bullets slamming into my ship started. Hopped in the drivers seat and started it up. As I got off the ground my rear stabilizers broken off.
I boosted to make it through the atmosphere to save my skin. At this point I’ve taken heavy damage again, but I made the quantum jump to a random location pretty far away. Phew thought I was safe. I touched down at a research facility. I realized there was nothing for me there so back in the ship I go.
As I leave the armistice zone same ships show up again haha (at this point I was like f it no more running LETS DO IT) Our battle took us high into the atmosphere. Exchanging rounds and missles. Ultimately I’m out numbered and out gunned. I make way for the ship exit again. As I just get down the ladder I can see out of the back into space. Then boom it’s over. Annnnd then I wake up in prison.
All that…
All that was such a fun experience. I was cheesin the whole time. 10/10 would do again
