2024.05.14 16:41 stocke85 PB Fintech, currently a 55,000 crore company, could potentially become a 2 lakh crore company within two years, explained by fundamentally As per PE

When analyzing the Price-to-Earnings (PE) ratio of PB Fintech, consider the EPS year by year.
If it shifts from highly negative to positive, indicating a potential increase to two or three-digit positive in the upcoming quarter or year, the PE will decrease significantly to a reasonable value. Although the price may also rise, the PE ratio will still decrease.
For instance, PB Fintech has a year-wise EPS of 1.48 and a price of 1229. Calculating the PE: 1229/1.48 ≈ 830.
If in the next year, the price reaches 2000 due to a 50% top-line growth and reduced expenses, the PE might be around 40.
Therefore, the new PE would be 2000/40 ≈ 50, marking the start of PE expansion for a profitable company, turning the stock into a multibagger.
The same principle applies to Zomato.
However, in the case of Nykaa, the EPS has remained constant in single digits for the past four years or since listing, resulting in stagnant prices.
Take a moment to review this mathematical analysis thoroughly, aside from considering the business model.

2024.05.14 16:41 enephon We need to talk about "bless your heart"

I've lived in Texas for most of my life. I grew up with the expressions, "bless your heart," "bless his/her heart," and "bless their hearts." The meanings of these expressions has been changed, largely due to popular and Internet culture, over the past years. I think that change has made the expression lose its magical appeal.
A few year ago, I started to read on the Internet from "experts" and "people" that the expression, "bless your heart" was a polite way to say "f*** you." More recently, this was a bit in B.J. Novak's otherwise entertaining film, Vengence. But this definition is not how I learned and used this expression for most of my life.
"Bless your heart" was always an expression of sympathy. Someone lost their job, "bless his heart." But it could also be a term of biting condescension. As in, someone gets what they deserve you might say, "bless your heart" in a way that makes them seem pathetic. It also suggests that the subject is naive, a nitwit, a wretch or an idiot. For example, someone does something stupid like getting a bad tatoo you would say, "bless her heart." It was context and tone that really made the term, and it was ambiguity that makes it a great expression. If it was just a coded way to say F* you, or F* him, it wouldn't be as interesting to use or safe to say in church.
Fellow Texans, I fear it may be too late, but we need to take the term back, pronto.

2024.05.14 16:41 MaidOfClarity Poor guy gets dumped at the property without guarantee of a room...two nights in a row.

Squick warning: descriptions of particularly unpleasasnt smells and sights.
I've seen tales of hotel FD employees having to deal with cops who drop people off at the property, saying, "hey, this person needs a room," but before the hotel can collect payment and deposit, the cops just drive off, leaving the guest stranded and the front desk staff agitated with a new loiterer who decides to cause problems for said staff.
Today, we shall talk about one of these stories, at my old workplace, a motel of about three dozen rooms. The lobby / FD itself is in a suite about the size of a kitchen, like many other motels.
It's a Saturday night shift (22:00-6:00) like any other, and I'm just checking in the last of the arrivals. Someone had called to rent a room - I took name, phone number, and credit card details to hold the room for them.
I see that the cops have arrived and are escorting a man to the front desk to get him a room. Unfortunately, I'm also checking in a guest who already had a reservation, and before I can ask anything to the cop like whether he has a reservation or the funds to rent a room, she's already left as I finish handing the keys to the guest who actually has a booking. Wow, good job officer, so what was your contigency plan if he couldn't afford the room?
So the guy walks in, we'll just alias him as Kevin Kleinbottle. Kevin is a repeat guest to our property who seems to be in his 60s or 70s, having rented a few times here in the past...but hoo boy he has seen far better days. He's wearing some pretty tattered pajamas and smells like he hasn't showered or used the toilet in days. The poor guy also sounds like he's down on his luck, and I also noticed, since he got escorted here by the cops, what happened to the vehicle he would drive to come here?
Well at any rate, I break the news to him, that unfortunately we are sold out. This isn't me pretending to be sold out so I could avoid having to have a hard talk with him, we were genuinely sold out. And given his state, at least if I rented him a room he would be able to shower and get himself clean again.
He's, unsurprisingly, distraught about this. I tell him he could try the other motel around the corner, and he walks off.
Then the next day, he returns, once again aided by a cop who doesn't seem interested in seeing the business transaction through before leaving the property. At least this time the repungent odor is mostly gone and he's better-dressed, in a shirt, light jacket, and sweatpants, but still looks pretty unwell. And this time we had a room available to sell. Unfortunately, his card declines for the room payment and deposit.
He tells me to call the cops again so that they can try to get him somewhere else. The front desk phone is too far to reach to him, so I use my cellphone on speaker instead - of course, making sure it remains in my grip. The cops tell him that they can't assist him again because they are working on some high-profile case so every officer has their hands full.
In the meantime, he has me get a chair since he's getting tired and fears he might stumble over - I grab one of the plastic chairs from the back office.
I'm eager to get him off the property so that I can go back to my work and avoid drawing complaints from paying guests that happen upon his presence in the lobby, and he seems just as eager considering he can't afford a room and can't get anywhere by himself tonight. He decides to just have me call an ambulance instead, citing health problems. I do see that he has a wristband that states "FALL RISK", so I wouldn't be surprised if he was acquainted with the local hospital.
Which he was, upon the arrival of the ambulance and paramedics. They help him to his feet and escort him off.
And that was the last I saw of him - I hope he's doing better these days.

2024.05.14 16:40 InsightJ15 [Landlord - NY] Verbal Rental Agreement

Hi All - I just had an offer accepted on a duplex. I was told the tenants were on a 'month to month lease'. I found out today both tenants are on a verbal month-to-month agreement with the LL. The LL seems to have no idea what he was doing - he didn't take care of any problems the tenants were having - didn't even buy CO detectors for the house (tenant did out of his own pocket).
Both tenants did sign an original 12 month lease, and after it turned into verbal month-to-month. I have not seen the leases yet. Obviously I'm concerned about a potential squatter situation. I have seen copies of rent receipts, both tenants have paid the past few months.
Can I require both tenants sign leases as part of the sales contract? Not sure how this works. Basically want to know if I can make it mandatory they sign a rental agreement. Any advice or shared experiences would be appreciated, thanks

2024.05.14 16:38 Timely-Report9805 Parkview Apartments water/sewer help

My partner and I recently moved out of the park view apartments, and we got out final monthly rent bill and our watesewer charge is literally double. for the past year plus it was consistently between 53-55 dollars and now it is 105. I reached out to the leasing office but they said that every building is more expensive, and that they are now billing on a 45 day cycle instead of a 30. The issue is that we were paying 30 day cycles for the last month and there really isn't any proof the usage doubled. Is there anyone else on here that lives in these apartments that can tell me if their water got drastically increased or are we just being scammed for moving out lol TIA!!!

2024.05.14 16:37 UnusualEmergency8968 I(28F) been having issues with my fiancé(27M) of 12 years with a female co-worker(19F). Am I crazy?

My fiancé and I have 4 kids and he’s always been an active parent to our kids (as active you can be when you’re working overtime). Things in our relationship have been strain for awhile till about 2 months ago. How all my thinking of something is going on with a co-worker is that… one night during a snow storm after working a 12 hour shift I was stuck because my car fuel pump wasn’t working and he knew our car kept doing that at the time. The whole day I haven’t heard from him which actually started being unusually common when we would talk all day. I tried calling him multiple times and he kept ignoring it, I was stuck for 2 hours in a snow storm. I finally get my car to kick on and drive to the bar. My adrenaline was pumping he was at a bar ignoring my calls for hours when he was just supposed to have a meeting for 2 hours. He was there from 4:30 to 10:00 for this “meeting” with all his coworkers. The female coworker in question was hip to hip to him. Yes she’s 19 in a bar. How? I don’t know… he has his manager, He’s the General Manager and she’s his “apprentice”. I was very upset that night but they all welcomed me, not him 😂 she went and sat with him the whole time while he was glaring at me because everyone was hanging out with me and I wasn’t supposed to be there and I embarrassed him for showing up. Then another time comes where he ended buying me all the stuff I needed to finally do my hobby of acrylic nails (been wanting to do for years) I get all of it and he says I have to do her nails, not a want but have to because she wanted them done. I set up a time with her and ended up wanting to do it at her house. He freaked out called me names and everything because I wanted to do it over there. Not sure if it was because he thought I was thinking something? She ended up cancelling anyways! there’s multiple pictures of her in his phone that are work related but why so many of just this one coworker. He says she’s his apprentice! They text a lot and they text more than we do. The text of there’s compared to the other coworker girl he has is completely night and day and actually was laughable how dull he was being to the other female coworker compared to this one. I go crazy and read these texts over and over because I can’t get past something not feeling right. The quick texting back and fourth when he tells me he can’t even text at work due to being busy. They text I guess when they split off teams. He said he accidentally sent a “ok beautiful “ text to her, he deleted it and I saw it. He did text her he meant to send that to her brother right after that. And then there was this recent text. He’s helping her move up in the field and she went home to change her clothes and he said “ahhhh getting all sales girl’d up I see nice” . Shes inappropriate with her jokes with him, he sends her stuff she should get. On top of that he’s been in the field for 7 years and all of a sudden he wants to buy a bunch of expensive new clothes for just work ( makes he’s color coordinated which is different) he puts cologne on (wouldn’t be weird if in the whole 12 years of being with him him he never did that before going to a labor job), wants to get tatted up out of no where (I love tattoos, i have multiple and so does he) he wants to go get scheduled to get his chest and neck tattooed. Wants designer clothes just really materialistic out of no where with a big ego. Doesn’t spend much time with the kids anymore.. Never was like him before this job which started in February. He gets really mad anytime I bring her up in any way that’s not lifting her up. He praises her when he knocks everything I do. He lets her be as late as she wants everyday, definitely not like him. I have PTSD and ADD, not sure if I’m rationally thinking or not that’s the worst part of having this crap. I feel like at this point, I’m in the wrong for looking. I had a wake up call from this situation that I needed to do more for him. I can say our relationship has been strain for a long time. Since this situation it has been going a lot better, but just this co-worker girl. Am I going crazy y’all? Is he flirting, or you think somethings going on? Reddit I know you guys got my back 🩷

2024.05.14 16:36 TheBlaringBlue The Art of the Rap Battle

Eivor is a bit of a strange protagonist.
She’s basically flawless and without blame. She’s brash and bold, proud and unashamed — brave and wise far beyond her years, yet able to be soft and compassionate when not brandishing spears. She’s got a knack for leadership, a strong moral compass and an even stronger muscular system with which to enact justice.
And she’s got bars?
As someone not deeply versed in medieval European histories, imagine my shock and confusion upon discovering that Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla included rap battling.
My first experience with Flyting had me asking so many questions about what I just witnessed that I couldn’t wait to begin Googling. I figured flyting probably was historically accurate, but if that’s the case, then what else can it tells us about the medieval warrior and about Eivor’s characterization?
I set off to find out.
--
Wikipedia and howstuffworks combined gave me a robust definition of flyting.
A ritual, poetic exchange of insults practiced mainly between the 5th and 16th centuries. Examples of flyting are found throughout Scots, Ancient, Medieval and Modern Celtic, Old English, Middle English and Norse literature involving both historical and mythological figures. The exchanges would become extremely provocative, often involving accusations of cowardice or sexual perversion.
The idea behind flyting was to influence public opinion of the participants and raise both of their profiles. And each participant wanted to make himself look better than the other, even if they were friendly.
Not only that, but flyting’s also the first recorded use of shit as an insult. That right there is worth this whole essay and then some.
--
I came away from those definitions with some small Euphoria, as they reinforce what I already expected from Ubisoft — historically accurate and (arguably) immersive side activities grounded in realism.
Unfortunately, none of the flyting foes that Eivor faces in this fantasy are founded in any real-world flyters. I was particularly frustrated when I realized Fergal the Faceless and Borghild the Alewife’s Bane were fictional features, not real historical fiends of rhythm and rhyme.
Two of Eivor’s syntax competitors are “real” in some sense, however.
In Norse mythos, Odin, Thor, Loki, Freyja and more would handle their Family Matters over a flyte from time to time, dueling wits and words as competition and entertainment.
In fact, one flyte we do see in game — Odin as he flytes over the river with Thor in the Asgard Arc — is likely a reference to a real medieval Norse poem; The Hárbarðsljóð.
In it, Thor jaunts back to Asgard after a journey in Jötunheim. He comes to a junction in which he must jump a large river, and thus hunts down a ferryman to shepherd him across. The ferryman, Hárbarðr, is Odin in disguise. He then begins to diss guys.
Ahem. ‘Guys’ being Thor, obviously.
First, Odin drops a yo-mama joke:
Of thy morning feats art thou proud, but the future thou knowest not wholly; Doleful thine home-coming is: thy mother, me thinks, is dead.
He keeps going, taking more shots than a First Person Shooter, this time saying Thor dresses like a girl:
Three good dwellings methinks, thou hast not; Barefoot thou standest and wearest a beggar’s dress; Not even hose dost thou have.
Thor says watch your mouth before I clap back:
Ill for thee comes thy keenness of tongue, if the water I choose to wade; Louder, I ween, than a wolf thou cryest, if a blow of my hammer thou hast.
Odin replies by saying Thor’s wife is fucking another dude:
Sif has a lover at home, and him shouldst thou meet; More fitting it were on him to put forth thy strength.
The version we play out in game isn’t identical to the real-world poem, but carries some similarities; Thor’s threatening to cross the river to fight Odin as well as his boasting of slaying giants are present in each.
Ratatosk is the only other ‘real’ flyting enemy in Valhalla. While Odin doesn’t flyte with Ratatosk in Norse myth to my knowledge, the flyting against the squirrel is thematically accurate, at least.
Ratatosk’s purpose is to scramble up and down Yggdrasil, scurrying spoken messages from the eagle that sits at its peaks to the snake that slithers at its base. The nature of Ratatosk’s messages is in line with the act of flyting — the mischievous rodent carries falsehoods and aggressive statements to stir up drama and distrust between bird and serpent.
Flyting took place not only in poems and folklore, but in town squares and royal court. It was a facet of medieval life and social interaction. This weaving of prose then, in this time period, seemingly was just about as much of an admired skill as the swinging of a sword. It’s no wonder our unbreakable warrior Eivor is so proficient with word.
--
Like, really proficient with word.
I mean, I know it’s me choosing the dialogue options, but sheesh, is there anything she can’t do?
Actually, Eivor’s expertise in flyting is strange to me. It feels random and unearned — out of character, even. It comes more unexpectedly than Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us.
It probably only feels out of character, however, due to our modern understanding of proficiency with words versus proficiency with might. Our current interpretation of verbal ability compared to physical ability would perceive verbal ability as the ‘softer’ of the two skillsets. Physical strength is typically interpreted as tough and more dominant. You don’t expect to see an MMA fighter composing poetry, do you? The qualities that modern thought attributes to writing and physicality don’t mesh.
But in reality — and historically accurately in Valhalla — medieval warriors weren’t just blind berserkers. They were actually artists, poets and writers.
We’ve already demonstrated how Odin and Thor — Norse myth’s most famous warriors — carried out flyting. Thus, medieval Vikings would’ve surely done the same. Beyond Vikings though, the Illiad contains instances of public, ritualized abuse. Taunting songs are present in Inuit culture while Arabic poetry contains a form of flyting called naqa’id. Further, Japanese Samurai were known to be frequent composers of haiku, while Japanese culture also gave birth to Haikai, poetry in which vulgar satire and puns were wielded.
This historical accuracy ends up eliminating the randomness of Eivor’s flyting ability. Despite her verbal finesse feeling unearned, we can surmise historically that Eivor has practiced the wielding of words plenty in her life before we take over as the player. She’s dedicated time to this.
Now that we know why she has it, we can take a closer look at what it does for her.
--
So, Eivor can rap. She can match you with her axe or she can match you with her words. She’s just about unbeatable.
Her mastery of words demonstrates on some level that she’s not all Push Ups and might is right. She’s not all bruiser and bluster, burn and berserk. She’s an appreciator of the finer things — the more abstract, mental skills that require brain power, deftness and finesse.
This duality of strength and genius rounds out Eivor into a deeper, richer, more admirable character. More than just raw muscle in pursuit of glory, Eivor’s mastery of verse demonstrates her prioritizing not just her body, but her mind.
And it goes a long way for her.
Eivor can use her prowess with prose to progress past pointless plot points throughout Valhalla’s plethora of arcs and missions. It’s just a stat check in the end, but with enough practice flyting and enough charisma gained, Eivor unlocks new dialogue options that bend the world around her to her will.
Witch hunters in Eurvicscire on the brink of terrorizing Moira can be dispersed verbally rather than brawled or killed. There’s an entire riddle-solving fetch quest in Wincestre that can be skipped completely by telling King Aelfred’s abbot fuck off (figuratively). Eivor’s sharpening of her mind protects her body, saves her time, and allows her to frictionlessly fell her endeavors.
Her articulate advances don’t just alter her into admirability, they allow her to influence people and progression. With semantics from her mouth and twists from her tongue, Eivor can have her way whenever she wishes. In a game this large, I’m only left longing that the opportunity to make use of this charisma wasn’t relegated to niches.
Regardless, if medieval England is butter, Eivor’s tongue is the hot knife that behooves her move through her subduing more smoothly.
It all just goes to show that ̶m̶i̶g̶h̶t̶ flyte is right.

2024.05.14 16:36 reesespenisbuttcups It’s getting harder to see the other side

Hope you’re doing well, I’ve posted here before about this same situation. I’m just finding myself with a lot of heartache, and I don’t know where to put it.
I (19F) have been with my boyfriend (21M) for a year and 7 months at this point. I’ve been unhappy for most of that time, beginning with an incident where he exploded at me and my friends on a river trip. His aggression has spiked and ebbed throughout our relationship, and he’s docile in comparison at this point.
I want to leave, I’ve been thinking about it for a while now, but I’m trapped financially. My goal is to cut it off at the beginning of October when our lease is up, but I don’t know where else I’ll go. I don’t have any credit, and the complex I’m with is a perfect distance from my work, my bank, and the grocery store, with rent being affordable enough. I’m just not sure how exactly to go about it just yet.
I’m putting away enough money each month to have a down payment for a car in September, a month before I’m hoping this is over. I feel that once I’m able to transport myself (I’m nervous about driving, I only learned enough from my friends to pass my driver’s test), I’ll be in a better position to move my life in a different direction.
At this point, I hate my job. The management has made numerous bad calls and ignored so many bug reports that it’s led to me and my coworkers having to pick up the slack and take on certain aspects of the role in a way that was never intended. Every other week I work the weekend as well. I just dread my job.
On the other hand, my home isn’t any better. I try to stay positive and composed, but I had a breakdown last night due to some negative changes at work and general frustration at feeling overwhelmed from all ends. My boyfriend just sat in silence until I was done.
I can’t really articulate how I’m feeling at this point. It just feels like I don’t have anything to look forward to, I’m dreading my job, home, and October. I can’t really see the other end of this anymore. I feel like the only reason I keep going is to make sure my little dog has a roof over her head. I’m just terrified all the time. So many bad memories plague my thoughts all the time. It just feels like it’s becoming more than I can handle, and I can’t see what good life has to offer anymore. I just keep telling myself to keep pushing, even though I really don’t want to anymore. I’m so tired, I feel so emotionally neglected. I feel like I constantly dream of safe arms to fall into, just the overwhelming feeling of safety and security. I haven’t found that yet.
I’m not sure what the point of me putting this out there is. I sort of hope that someone older and wiser than me sees themselves in what I’m describing and is able to understand, able to lend some good life advice, maybe a reason that they’re glad they kept pushing when they didn’t see the use.
I’m so tired, I just want to be okay. I want to find myself being happy someday, I’m writing this before going into work, which is beginning to take 110% of my effort now.
Anyways, it probably won’t be like this forever, I just wanted to put these thoughts somewhere. Thank you for reading, I hope you have a wonderful day.

2024.05.14 16:36 Ok_Revolution_6452 Lost after a loss

Lost after a loss
I was caring for my mum for 4 years for to secondary breast cancer in the bones. She died 3 days after being emitted up hospital for a chest infection. I had to do pallative care for her at home for 3 weeks until she finally agreed to having an ambulance come pick her up.
She died on 9th of November.
Since then I've been taking care of my dad. But I'm struggling to do this anymore. I'm tired of not having my own life back.
The problem is i haven't had a path to work or a path to life. I've lost interest in many of the jobs i worked before i became an unpaid carer 4 years ago. At heart i am passionate about drawing and painting. But I've had setbacks in the past and self doubts to do much of anything with my talent and passion.
I'm struggling with a choice to start work again due to pressures from the cost of living. But because it has been so long i feel intense anxiety and longing to want to do something that I'm passionate about.
Maybe 6 months is still early days of grief and i should just focus on myself for as long as I'm able.
I've attached a painting i did of my mum before she ever had cancer.
I don't know what question i have. I guess I'm just sharing my loss and confusion.

2024.05.14 16:36 Appropriate-Tree-976 Writing Letters?

Hi all TIA for any and all advice. We are second time home buyers who had to move due to a job relocation. We are looking in a very small town where the demographics are leaning towards empty nesters and individuals aging in place. The homes are in a historic neighborhood and many are looking in disrepair. Our realtor suggested writing letters to homes we have an interest in to see if they would even consider selling in the next year or so. While I trust their expertise in this field, the whole idea just does not sit well with me. I thought I’d ask Reddit for their thoughts?
Should I:
  1. Target specific houses?
  2. Blast a neighborhood with the same generic letter indicating interest in moving to the neighborhood?
  3. Perform some blood ritual to gain some good fortune in this insane market? (For legal purposes this is a joke)
We can probably hang in our rental for one more year and we have a very healthy budget. Would love some expert advice here.
Thanks again!

2024.05.14 16:36 GanacheAdept4042 Wrong Email

So my mom’s car got towed because of late payments (2 months) she told she was gonna find a way to pay it before the next payment was due (may 17) but they went ahead and towed today (may 14). They haven’t been sending the bills that we owe and she’s been calling them asking them when they’re gonna send them. They kept saying her email on file was right everytime she called to check until today mailed her a letter saying her car was gonna get towed and when we got the paper the email that they put on the paper was not right, and now they’re saying we have to pay 900 to get the car back.
so i just wanna know could this be a legal issue ?

2024.05.14 16:33 LetterGrouchy6053 Will MAGA thugs prevail over Democracy?

Such is the state of our nation since the advent of Trump and MAGA. For centuries our politicians could debate (sometimes forcefully) and then come to a compromise. LBJ and Tip O'Neill had legendary battles on the senate floor, and then went out for drinks afterward.

But no more!
Now the thugs of MAGA have been aroused, supported and encouraged by Trump and the Republican members of the Houe of Representatives, and they brook no compromise. They pull out no stops, their threats of violence and even murder are commonplace, and once honest and ethical Republicans now quake at their threats and let their integrity slide into the cesspool of expediency.
If MAGA is producing the wanted results the GOP now happily closes its eyes to sedition, treason and terror -- ethics and patriotism be damned, the Constitution and Democracy be damned -- the End knows no allegiance to the Means; let cowardice and force prevail over voter rights and constitutional guarantees -- this is their dogma.
The Justice Department will arrest and convict these criminals, sentence them to long prison terms -- but will it be enough to stem the tide of fascism?

Justice Department warns against threats to voting rights, election workers

Attorney General Merrick Garland warned Monday of mounting violent threats against election workers across the country and vowed that the Justice Department will be “relentless” in prosecuting those who threaten the democratic process. Speaking to reporters ahead of a meeting of the department’s Election Threats Task Force, Garland cited a handful of cases over the past several years in which poll workers in Arizona, Michigan and Georgia — swing states in the presidential election — have faced death threats. In each instance, he said, federal prosecutors won convictions against the perpetrators and sentences of up to 3½ years in federal prison.
“Each of these cases should serve as a warning — if you threaten to harm or kill an election worker, volunteer or official, the Justice Department will find you and we will hold you accountable,” said Garland, flanked by Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco and FBI Director Christopher A. Wray “The public servants who administer elections must be able to do their jobs without fearing for their safety or that of their family,” Garland said. “We will aggressively investigate and prosecute those who threaten election workers.”
Garland’s remarks, with just under six months until presidential Election Day, came amid heightened concerns that the nation’s bitter political partisanship could spark disruptions to polling sites, intimidation of voters and violent challenges to election results. A growing number of leading Republican officials, including presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, are refusing to say they would accept November’s election results.
Since its inception in June 2021, the Election Threats Task Force has brought 17 prosecutions, scoring 13 convictions, Justice Department officials said. Among those cases, prosecutors won a guilty plea from a man who said an election worker in Michigan deserved a knife to the throat, and a conviction of a man who threatened a mass shooting against election workers in Arizona. Justice officials emphasized that they are also monitoring emerging threats, including the use of artificial intelligence to spread disinformation and propagate threats behind technology that can mask the identities of perpetrators.
“Violent threats using AI are still violent threats,” Monaco said. “In these cases, the Department of Justice will seek enhanced sentences. … A threat to any election official, worker or volunteer is, at bottom, a threat to democracy.

2024.05.14 16:33 Tricky-Molasses-6192 Selling House to Pay Debt?

My husband and I have unfortunately racked up $25,000 in credit card debt in the last two years. Some of it was bad decisions or living outside our means and some of it was just bad luck and life circumstances. Regardless, it’s here now and we have to deal with it.
Personally, I think we need to sell our house to pay it off and get a lower mortgage and lower cost of living. Our mortgage went up $200 this past November because of a tax increase and I just found out our taxes are going to go up again every year for the next 5 years (that’s the plan the current board put out). We have about $150,000 of equity in our house. The only issue is that the housing market sucks so I’m not sure we’d even be able to find something less expensive that can accommodate us and I’ve heard renting is just as bad. We have three kids so I want to keep them in mind and I don’t want to just keep hauling them around moving them every few years.
My husband thinks we should do debt consolidation or bankruptcy but I said that doesn’t solve the issue that we can’t afford this house.
Is it crazy to sell? Are his options better? Is there something we’re missing?
Side note: I’ve been through our budget and even if we never eat out, cut streaming, or do anything extra, we only have about $200 extra per month and that’s paying the minimums on the cards. With random things like car repairs and medical bills popping up, it just doesn’t feel like enough to be able to pay it down.

2024.05.14 16:33 PIPIDOG_LOL Will My AP CSP Score get canceled for plagiarism?

I have already submitted my Creative Performance Task, and it is a program that helps find words from the dictionary with inputted length and letter combinations, for example, if you input "3" and "e" it will output words like "eat", "red" etc...
Problem is, while I am preparing for the test today, I stumbled across a video discussing a 2021 sample task that got 6/6, and that student have an almost identical program, except that the input for their function is the first letter of the word, instead of the components of words, so if you enter, "3" and "e" it finds words like "eat" "ear" etc. Our interfaces look extremely similar (SOMEHOW) and even some of our variables have the same name (HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE), like wordList, and filteredWordList.
Am I screwed? Will my score get canceled for plagiarism? Because my code is only 28 lines long and their code is probably short as well some of my lines look awfully similar to theirs. I swear to God I did not copy their work.

2024.05.14 16:30 BudgetYou7005 Amend past tax returns to file married filing jointly

Greetings
I tied the knot overseas back in November 2021, and it wasn't until October 2023 that my spouse made it to the US. It recently dawned on me that for the tax seasons of 2021 and 2022, I might have missed the boat on filing jointly with my wife, who was then a Nonresident Alien and the IRS lets you add your foreign spouse. Now that she's here with and she has a social security number and is residing with me, is it possible to amend those past tax filings? My CPA's stance is that it's a no-go due to the issue date on her social security card, but I contend that my filing as single was inaccurate from the get-go, given my marital status. What's your take? Should I listen to my CPA's advice or pursue amending my taxes? Grateful for any insights.

2024.05.14 16:30 LetterGrouchy6053 Will MAGA thugs prevail over Democracy?

Such is the state of our nation since the advent of Trump and MAGA. For centuries our politicians could debate (sometimes forcefully) and then come to a compromise. LBJ and Tip O'Neill had legendary battles on the senate floor, and then went out for drinks afterward.

2024.05.14 16:29 fredop014 what I've learned about relationships as a young man so far

I'm a young male and this is what I've learned about relationships for a man, so far based on :
I would love to get the insight and the opinion from older men and women in this subbreddit, i really like learning from other mistakes and experiences. So if you take your time to reply i really appreciate that,
The ideal relationship is where a genuine balance between affection and assertiveness coexist. Here are some key takeaways from my experience as a man:
1-Authenticity is Crucial: Being genuine in your actions and emotions is vital. Relationships built on authenticity tend to be more stable and fulfilling. Pretending to be someone you're not to spark attraction can lead to unsustainable and unhealthy relationships.
2-Assertiveness: It's important to voice your opinions and stand your ground. Disagreeing with your partner respectfully shows that you have your own convictions and aren't afraid to express them. This can create a dynamic where both partners feel valued and heard.
3-Genuine Affection: Showing love and affection shouldn't be a calculated move. If you genuinely feel love and appreciation for your partner, express it freely. Holding back out of fear of turning them off can lead to misunderstandings and emotional distance.
4-Individual Differences: Recognize that everyone is different. Some individuals might feel overwhelmed by constant affection due to their past experiences or attachment styles. This doesn't necessarily mean they are "emotionally broken," but rather that they have different needs and ways of expressing love.
TO SUMMARIZE:
-Don't be a spineless "nice guy" just because you need her to like you.
-Boldly speak your mind and voice your opinion, even if it goes against hers.
-Don't refrain from showing her all the love, affection, and security you want to show her.
-If showing love, affection, and security turns her off, it might not be about you, but rather about her emotional readiness for the relationship. This doesn't necessarily mean she is broken; it might just indicate a mismatch in emotional needs or readiness.
What's your opinion? Am i lost and deceived? Am i overthinking something that's supposed to be simple and natural? I would love to hear the opinion of older men and women that are in successful relationships, if you are someone that's bitter from past relationships, have a hatred towards men o women your opinion is not welcomed (I'm joking ;-))

2024.05.14 16:29 customEntregineer Help Needed: Persistent Resource Consumption Issues with WooCommerce Site on VPS

Hi everyone,
I’m facing a persistent issue with a WooCommerce eCommerce website I built using a template purchased from ThemeForest. The site has been running fine for over three years, but for the past 3-4 months, it has been experiencing frequent downtime due to high resource consumption. Here's a rundown of the problem:
This website is critical for my friend (I'm helping for free because I recommended the one who made the website initially 3 years ago), and his business heavily relies on it. I’m feeling a lot of pressure to get this resolved.
The website : https://goldenbabyshop.com/
Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Any suggestions on what else I can try? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance!

2024.05.14 16:28 bleepboop81 Scholarship reconsideration

I got into my top choice, but didn’t receive any scholarship due to my LSAT being 4 pts under the median.
How do I go about a scholarship reconsideration? A normal email asking for a reconsideration? A letter explaining why they should? Would a phone call to admissions office suffice? What should I say?
I think that with my extensive background, I should receive at least some award.

2024.05.14 16:27 Mysterious_Lynx_9300 To you,

The past is no excuse. The pain is no excuse. I wanted to treat you better and be closer, and each time I tried I felt you repel a little more. You wrote to me over and over but you didn't like me in real life. Fractured in delusion I'd respond and feel repelled. I understand what you once felt for me was real, and that it isn't coming back. You won't be coming back. When I think of all that happened, I feel the cold of the future closing in. If I feel too strongly I am punished.
Ask me anything, but I don't think you will. You know enough about my weakness and my past. All I can give you is how I feel now.
I am a celibate creature now, turning down physical affection. I'm eating my own life. You're off to bigger and better things so how could I ask you to settle for me? Especially after all the rage that pushed me down, after the letters that told me this was all over.
I'm not debating with you. I only want to give you my honest feelings. As honest as I can make them. What is done with them after that, if anything, is up to you
