 | Hello, submitted by KytechN24 to Comcast_Xfinity [link] [comments] I had a home inspector over at my property and he pointed out to me that the cable line was bonded to the door of the main breaker panel for my home's electrical service, preventing access to the main breaker for inspection or servicing of this panel. He informed me that I should contact the cable company to have them send over a technician to move the bonding point so that it no longer obstructs the main breaker panel. Attached below is a picture of the bonding wire connection running from Comcast's point of entry box to the main breaker panel to the house. I moved into this apartment in August 2023 and the complex was sold at the end of 2023 so we got a new management company.
• January we got a general notice that every tenant would have to vacate our units for electrical upgrades to comply with their insurance. They said take all valuables etc.
They gave us three options: 1. Break the lease for no fee and move out. They raised the rent on those units several hundred after people left. 2. Move out with family for two weeks and get prorated rent. 3. Move into a furnished guest suite in a similar unit that had the electrical work completed. Pay your full rent for the time you’re there.
We went with option 3 since it had been less than 6 months that we had a big move and couldn’t shoulder more moving costs. We also don’t have family to live with for two weeks nearby. We WFH so we asked if there would be wifi and desk furniture. They said yes.
They gave us a day an a half to move in to the guest suite. Gave us access on a Saturday at 3pm and we had to be out by early Monday morning. We move into the guest suite and it’s Amazon furniture with no desks. Fine. We made it work.
The internet goes out one day and I go speak with front office since it’s their account, the front office lies and says there’s an outage. Turns out they forgot to pay the Comcast bill on their guest suites. Amazing. I had to take time off work that day to force the front office to actually help. I got it fixed and was able to work the next day.
They finish the electrical work ahead of schedule during the workweek. But Our “temporary” lease for the guest suite gave us until Saturday to move back in. Front office said “no rush” to move back in.
Front office calls us at 6pm on Friday demanding we finish moving back in on Saturday by 9am which was never agreed on. Our temporary lease doesn’t give us a time. It just gives us a start and end date. We finish by 11am and the front office staff hasn’t arrived for work yet(2 hours late) so whatever.
I send them basic email to document that we’ve vacated and have moved back in to our unit. They don’t document anything via email or paper trail so I thought I’d do their job for them lol.
Monday morning, three management staff I’ve never met show up at the door to inspect my apartment of the work that was completed a week ago. I said you didn’t give any notice and they laugh it off sheepishly. They left quickly after not taking their shoes off in a carpeted unit with a collection of shoes by the door lol. I know I’m being petty but I was so tired and annoyed when they showed up.
Not to mention the loud and constant construction noise for the last 3-4 months as they have to tear into walls in neighboring units
I’ve reviewed tenant laws and I don’t think there’s much recourse for this situation, aside from lack of notice. Next time they pull that I won’t let them in and request a notice.
I just really needed to vent somewhere because I feel like I’ve had no peace or privacy for the majority of time we lived here.

Consumers will soon have access to yet another streaming bundle. Comcast (CMCSA) CEO Brian Roberts said early Tuesday that later this month, the company will launch a new offering that combines its Peacock platform, Netflix (NFLX), and Apple TV+ (AAPL).
The new bundle, referred to as StreamSaver, will be available to customers of Comcast’s broadband internet service, the executive revealed at a MoffettNathanson conference.
"Those three products will come at a vastly reduced price to anything in the market today and be available to all our customers," Roberts said. Exact pricing details will be announced at a later date.
"We've been bundling video successfully and creatively for 60 years," he added. "This is the latest iteration of that, and I think this will be a pretty compelling package."
The developments come as media companies face pressure from investors to scale their streaming services and achieve profitability. At the same time, the companies are dealing with more competition from tech giants like Amazon (AMZN) and YouTube (GOOGL, GOOG), which are gobbling up streaming deals.
On average, US consumers subscribe to four streaming services and spend about $61 per month on them, according to the latest Digital Media Trends report from Deloitte. That means fewer opportunities for streamers to retain loyal subscribers over time.
The concept of bundling isn't new. Companies in the space have been doing it with their own services for years. Apple, for instance, offers Apple One, which combines Apple TV+ with other services like Apple Music and Apple Arcade. The bundle launched globally in late 2020.
Disney, which has also been offering a bundle with Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, officially began its domestic rollout of a one-app experience late last year that incorporates Hulu content via Disney+ — a similar play to Paramount's Showtime combination as well as the integration of HBO Max and Discovery+, which both merged their respective services last year.

Just last week, Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and Disney (DIS) announced a new streaming bundle that will bring together Disney+, Hulu, and Max streaming services, with a launch date set for this summer in the US.

Plan is to ditch Comcast and move to FiOS Internet only with YTTV.. single family house built in the 90s, so no central comm infrastructure, just a rats nest of coax that exits to the side of the house near power and gas meters. Two of the external coax lines are used for Internet/TV, rest are unused runs in the house. Fios is run through the neighborhood with the closest in ground junction box about 50 yards away.
Ideally I would like ONT installed inside the house. I may be able to pull one of the external coax lines through an unfinished part in the basement to get the fiber in the house.

I am not a smart man. Just a man, who thinks too much. Even now, I should be getting my last minute Mother’s day gifts together but this won’t leave my brain. Neil Gaiman’s “American God’s” sits unfinished on my dresser but weighs heavily on my mind. This movement feels like the New God’s fighting the Old Gods. Wednesday, Odin’s day of magic, The Braves played the Boston Red Sox and won 5-0 but there was an ill feeling in the air as the message above was broadcast on all the tv’s in the stadium including the big screen over centerfield and for those of us watching from home.  | I recently moved back into my home office for work and have noticed something odd that I'd seen months back but never paid attention to. I now suspect that it's been going on for several months now regularly, as I've noticed weird hiccups in YouTube TV for 30-45 secs at a time on occasion. submitted by mightyarrow to Comcast_Xfinity [link] [comments] The downstream light on my Netgear CM1100 modem flashes on a recurring basis every 5-15 mins, yet I'll remain connected though with a rougher connection (packet drops, slow responses, etc). I'm fairly certain that the modem itself is fine, but I've got some captured info from the logs as well as the status page. Can anyone please take a look and let me know what you may see wrong? Comcast's position so far on a tech support call is that there's nothing wrong, but I contend there's a signal issue and not with the modem, and I'm pretty sure all they did was their normal "let me press this button and if it says good then it must be good" Here is the recurring set of warnings/errors. Whenever this happens, Critical status gets reached in the Log. Typically the light stops flashing after a few mins, but again -- I'm still connected, but things seems slow to respond for a short bit. John C. Malone started Liberty media and he’s been dubbed “Darth Vader” in business dealings, allegedly by Al Gore. Makes that Dumb Storm Troopers line hit differently from RC. Malone and Ted Turner are really good friends with similar ideals. Malone has said “I would never step on his toes” for the sake of business. Both have a contentious relationship with media mogul Rupert Murdoch, founder of News Corp. Ted and Rupert have beef from a boating incident and of course John has his good friends back. I am wondering whether it is normal for Comcast to attempt to charge a customer (i.e., me) for repairing a line drop for existing service. I was quoted out of pocket costs of $13,000, with Comcast apparently paying their "full share," a maximum cost of up to $4,000. The total of $17,000 is what Comcast's authorized utility contractors quoted Comcast for the repair.
By searching this sub I have seen expensive costs, but they share a few commonalities:
My situation is that due to service and disconnection and line issues, Comcast came out and identified that the line was stuck and probably damaged between my residence's hand-off point (an aboveground utility box on the side of the house where the ground block is located), and a node (on the other side of a residential street). In my area, the cable lines are run through conduit. So if everything is fine, the cable should be easily movable by hand, by pulling at either by the grounding block, or at the node.
Comcast made three attempts to free up the conduit (pulling on the existing cable, trying to push through and dislodge any debris with a fiberglass duct roddefish tape, and using compressed air to jet out debris). They all failed. My personal best guess is tree root damage, as there is a tree. There is no evident construction damage (no other cuts in the pavement above the line alignment).
So basically Comcast is saying that they need to do an open excavation across the road, and by totaling up the cost of permits, inspections, excavation, pavement restoration, traffic control, the cost is $17,000.
Is this normal?? I always heard and read that the line is Comcast's responsibility from the node to the hand-off point, and I've never heard of the $4,000 threshold. Can anyone share their knowledge or experience?

- Often times they are quite far from others who have Comcast, and require a new plant.

My family has been with Comcast for over two decades. Between us there's over a dozen email addresses that are in daily use. What happens if we move to an area that isn't serviced by Comcast? Is there a way to continue using our comcast.net email addresses? What about accessing 20+ years worth of email history. Is there some way to save the emails and access them after we lose Comcast?

This is the worse company for customer support and internet service. One signs up for internet for one price and then over the months the price increases because I assume they are giving out higher speeds that I never requested. Try to call customer service via phone or the web and it is a joke.
AI Bot on the phone which takes forever if you want to speak to an agent and then get cutoff and have to go thru the whole process again. Their web page takes forever to load and seems to crash all the time. Also one minute the web page chat works and then you get disconnected and try to go back to use chat and it is not there anymore. I am a retired IT Manager of over 40 years and have my own computer consulting business so I know something about the internet/networking and business. Comcast just sees customers as a money bag. Also when they send out techs for problems, they are the most incompetent techs I have ever seen. They do not even know the most basic thing like how to put on a coax cable connector the correct way which then last for a few months because water gets into the cable end at the connector, so once again you have to get another tech out to fix the problem only to find out that he also does not know how to install a cable connector the correct way. I use to work for Kelly Cable when I got out of college during the recession and we contracted with Comcast to repair and overhaul their equipment i.e. cable boxes and line equipment so I know something about being a technician as I was also a retired Navy Electronics Technician and have a degree in Electrical Engineering and Technology. I just wish here in Philadelphia we had more choices for internet providers. At present it is only Comcast or Verizon, and Verizon is just as incompetent as Comcast. I am glad I will be moving soon to an area that has six different internet providers. Avoid Comcast at all cost as they will just cost you more money in the long run.

Hi everyone, I've had a very annoying problem for quite some time and kindly ask for assistance. I am not super computer literate, but can work my way around one alright
I have an HP Pavilion TP01-1070 desktop in my office and it loses internet connection every few minutes for seconds to a couple minutes at a time. Sometimes it reconnects automatically, but sometimes I have to do it manually. Either it says no connection at all, or it says it's connected to my WiFi but the WiFi has no internet. I have Comcast internet on a decent plan and it says it has decent speeds. The modem is a few rooms away from the office but isn't inside a cupboard or anything. I have one of those Xfinity Pods in my office where the computer is, and not sure if that's just for decoration or what because it doesn't seem to be helping. To be clear, I do NOT have this issue with my phone or work laptop when I'm in my office. The only device I encounter this problem with is my desktop. Here's some steps I've taken in an attempt to solve this:
1) Restarted my computer 2) Unplugged/restarted the modem 3) Updated my network adapter 4) Moved the Xfinity pod around different places 5) Adjusted the power management settings in my network adapter
I cannot seem to find a specific issue with my desktop that is causing this. It's just very annoying when I'm trying to stream movies or games and I can only play for mere minutes at a time before everything crashes.

tldr: we're both neurodivergent. We have a long history of me being given more chores than my fair share, and not being supported enough through struggles. Wife also spent a year unemployed, promising she would "get her shit together" - not much changed. Wife wants to remain unemployed for a month to "settle in" after we move, but I have to start a STEM PhD right away... I feel it's unfair and bad for our finances. What do you think?
Wife has self-diagnosed ASD and potentially ADHD. ASD seems fairly obvious to me, and was corroborated by a therapist, but no psychometric tests were done by a psychiatrist/psychologist. She's paranoid and doesn't want to get diagnosed and leave a paper trail. I may have ADHD. I have also been validated by a therapist and have undergone some psychometric testing that indicated "high levels" (more in progress - takes forever and is v. expensive). After some financial difficulties, we're going to be moving across states and it's going to cost us 1/3rd - 1/2 of our savings, possibly more. We're in the US, so being left with <$10k is risky, esp. if there's a medical emergency.
She was unemployed for a year after getting fired (actually wasn't her fault). She took a long time to recover from the trauma, failed to get the kind of job she previously had, and took on a minimum wage job with no benefits which is a huge step down. She finds the work somewhat fulfilling but physically demanding (she actually lost a lot of weight because she won't eat properly because "icky textures" - very ASD). Throughout this time, and prior to that, the majority of the chores' burden fell on me. The financial responsibility of providing for us fell on me. I wasn't making much as a grad student. And there is not one thing that she does, except take care of our pet hamster, that I can point to and say "yes, she gets that chore done consistently, on time". I can't point to any habits of good time-management, exercise, or self-care that she does consistently either.
Now, she's planning to quit her current job 1 month before we move, to relax, pack up, and visit our favorite places in this city. Some of these trips across the state will cost a decent bit of money. Okaaay... Sounds reasonable. She's sentimental and loves this place. Sure, I'll take the financial hit. Whatever.
But then, after moving in, she said wants to "settle in" for a month or she's "not going to be fine", because change is hard for her. She implied that she'll do nothing but get our home set up, and will probably not look for a job. Will certainly not work during that month.
The problem is, I don't trust her. She and I agree that she didn't do her fair share during the time she was unemployed. Even now, working her min. wage job, there are many days where she just doesn't show up for the things she committed to in the past, because she's "tired", while I do nothing but work and chores. The result? Things pile up, and we're always playing catch up. I know she's really tired and she's not lying, but it's making me exhausted.
Her time management also needs improvement. We have discussed many strategies that work for neurodivergent people - schedules for chores, clear and explicit division of labor, visible reminders, planning everything out, but she has made zero progress on that front, for months. I offered to sit down with her and implement all these strategies. She didn't even show up to do it despite saying "let's do that this weekend" multiple times. She'll find ways to procrastinate, like 50 minute "water breaks" that are mostly spent on instagram, organizing pics on her phone and clearing phone memory when she should be doing dishes etc. We never get enough sleep, frequently run out of food, and overspend on takeout, groceries etc. Her not functioning well feels like a big part of that to me. Everything is late, messy, chaotic. I feel burned out.
I'm trying to convince her that
a) I have mental health struggles as well but I don't get a month off. I'll have to start working right away
b) It may take her a month or more to find a job anyway, and adding another month to that is a bad idea. My stipend will barely cover housing and utilities, we really need her to bring in enough money to cover groceries.
c) Settling in is a process, and even neurotypical people take months to do that. But they do it while working, little by little.
d) Her previous behavior indicates that since she only made marginal progress during the year she was unemployed, there's no reason to believe she'll get a whole lot done in one month. All the furniture assembly, purchases etc typically fall on me. Whenever I have left something up to her, she takes too long ("I need you to give me a detailed script for this call to Comcast, I don't know what to say to them"), does poorly (e.g. buying a super-uncomfortable couch from an unknown brand with no reviews, instead of just picking something from IKEA that was half the price and had excellent reviews), and sometimes produces no results ("I was panicking so I couldn't make the phone call/buy that item/arrange for the utilities person to come").
I feel like she's asking for special treatment at the expense of my time, mental health, and family finances. She is saying she knows herself and she is trying to set boundaries for her mental health. The part of me that loves her wants to respect that. Of course I'd love for her to suffer as little as possible. But we're going through a hard time and she seems okay with further depleting our rapidly diminishing safety net, for ill-defined aims like "settling in".
Am I screwing up here? Is there something I can do better?
