2024.05.14 09:06 FabulousTackle4215 Colleague took something that belonged to me from my desk while I was away on a break. Found out about it when I was back and she claims she has an extra so she is willing to give me 'hers', which was actually mine.

Hi all, I've been feeling rather perplexed. I work in a hot desk situation so we usually share desks with a few people. I would always leave my laptop charger behind out of goodwill as I have a spare at home so other colleagues can share it for convenience. Everyone knows that the laptop charger is mine and I am kind of the most regular person on that desk.
I went away for a 7 days break and came back to a missing laptop charger. Here's the thing, for our hot desk, there's a record of who used the desk on which days. I asked around and narrowed down to 1 person.
I called her as she was away and she claims to have used it but denied taking it. Here's another catch, there's a CCTV right above the desk and I was able to pull the records. It captured her keeping the charger in her bag before she left. It also showed that the charger was there before she came in the morning. I called her again, giving her the BoD, asking if she accidentally took it. She still denied and claims that she usually has 2 laptop chargers in her bag and she will kindly give 1 to me.
I was fuming by then. My charger got taken and she gets to spare me her 'extra' charger. I sent her the video evidences. She then rushes over to office to pass me 'her' charger and insists that she wasn't aware of taking anything. Ironically, when she took 2 chargers out of her bag, she asked which was mine. (Why ask when you know for sure both are yours and this contradicted her claim of not unplugging and taking it initially). I could tell as I have been using this charger forever, it looks and feels different from hers. Before she left after handing me the charger, her last words were, "it's ok you can have it"
To me, the charger was just a small thing which I don't mind lending or not having it a few days if someone accidentally takes it. But I could not stand being gaslighted that the charger was not mine. It was also a matter of honesty as we share things in office.
My brother happend to be in the legal field and he insisted that I make a report even though it might take time as it is a small matter. However I decided against it as I didn't want the trouble. Would I be TAH if I were to proceed?

2024.05.14 09:02 sassiesgirl American Airlines has the worst Customer Service, Policies, Organizational skill

When: Sunday 5-12-2024
Where: O’Hare International Airport, American Airlines
Items Lost and/or stolen:
1. Remarkable 2, The paper Tablet
2. Marker Plus w/ Tablet
3. Remarkable 2 folio case
On 5-11-2024, I flew American Airline from North Carolina to Chicago Ohara International airport. The plane sat right off the runway for about an hour, the plane had no gate to park. Most of the passengers missed their connecting flight. I missed my connection to Portland OR by minutes. I was rebooked for a flight for the next day to Portland via Dallas Tx On Sunday 5-12-2024 at 2:40pm. When boarding the plane, we had to check in our carry-on bag because it was full (I had my work laptop and new Remarkable 2 tablet in my carry-on). We started to taxi out to the runway, then stopped. After about 40 minutes, the pilot came on the speaker and said there would be a delay of about ½ hour to an hour. He then came on to the speaker and said that they were now saying it would be 1-3 hours and he had decided to deplane. The flight was then cancelled. I could not get my carry-on, because it would be going to Dallas and then Portland once a flight went out. I was able to book another flight to Portland 6 hours later. When I landed, I was able to get my check in bag, it had arrived the day before, but the carry-on that I did not want to check in was not there. It would be there in about an hour. So, I waited. By this time, I had spent about 2days or about 30 hours in the airports (they did give me a $12.00 food voucher- you cannot even get a sandwich for that price). I was so exhausted I grabbed my baggage when it got there, and we drove another hour to Salem. By this time, I had been travelling and in airports since Saturday morning at 9:00am and it was now after Midnight Sunday night /Monday morning. I was able to get home about 2:30am.
I slept for a couple of hours and when I opened my carry-on the laptop was in there, but the tablet was gone. I had just bought it just over a month ago and all together had spent $444.99.
I have tried filing a claim, you cannot do that w/o filing a missing baggage report. My bag is not missing. My tablet is. You cannot file a claim w/o original receipt within 24 hours. There is no one to whom you can talk. No one to help you. The one gal I managed to get ahold of was customer service but not for complaints or baggage problems. Her comment to me was “there are over 44 million customers a day with problems, you think we want talk to all of them”. That is what American Airlines thinks of their customers.
I knew my tablet was in the bag when they made me check my bag. They should be held liable. For as long as they held onto the luggage, anyone could have opened it up and took it. I am hoping I am wrong, and it is in the airport somewhere. Chicago, Portland, or Dallas. I feel like I will never see it again.
I know this, I will never fly AA again. They have terrible service, there planes are not in very good shape, just an all-around bad experience. I heard a lot of passengers complain about the airline. No one had anything good to say about them.
How many people has this happened to? Can they just get away with stealing and ripping people off? Making people’s lives miserable by having one of the most unorganized people and baggage and fight handling systems in the world.
Is there a chance a class action lawsuit could be filed? I am sorry I cannot just let them take $500 from me; I work too hard for my money. I feel like they have robbed me.

2024.05.14 08:41 ur_internet_dad Mumbai to Pune Uber

So I’m from Pune and I’ve been studying in mumbai for my bachelors and living in hostel and now I need to move back. And I’m planning to take Uber for it. I’ll be travelling alone but with lots of luggage of course. I have 1 suitcase, 1 trolley bag, 1 laptop bag, 1 back pack, 1 carton of books and 2 big polythenes of random stuff. I also have a Table Fan but I may leave it here if it becomes too much of a hassle for me to take it. Will this be possible via Uber? And which should I prefer? Sedan Intercity or Go Intercity or XL Intercity or normal intercity? Any other suggestions also welcome.

2024.05.14 08:40 Fatcat363 Recommendations For 1/2 Professional 1/2 Vacation Type Backpack

Hi All!
I'm looking for a backpack that fits under the seat for flights and sits on top of my carry-on suitcase. I would like to be able to wear this same backpack to work events. I always bring a carry-on suitcase so it doesn't need to hold everything under the sun. Usually just my laptop, charger, a bag of snacks, a jacket, my water bottle, a toiletries bag, and some other odds and ends that don't make it into my suitcase.
My requirements:
-Fits under the seat on most major airlines
-Can fit a 16'' laptop (Lenovo Legion so a bit thicker than a macbook)
-Has a luggage strap (I've had my bag fall off my suitcase too many times)
-Professional looking for work travel into office settings
Nice to have:
-40oz hydroflask fits in the beverage holder (I bring that thing everywhere, it's like an emotional support water bottle)
So far my list consists of:
What other backpacks should I consider? Any reviews or preferences based on my current list for those who have the same requirements? Thank you!!

2024.05.14 08:33 deepestfear North Face "Base Camp" Duffel vs Patagonia "Black Hole Duffel"? For someone with an illness that could kill me in my 20s, who would like the perfect bag for their next (and maybe final) trip? 👌🏻

Hey all, hope you're all well. As the title implies, I am quite unwell and may not have much longer on this earth. Hence asking this question, despite it being asked over and over, because I have quite unique requirements.
TLDR: Which duffel suits me best, for 1-2 week trips, out of the 40L Patagonia, 55L Patagonia, or 71L North Face (or smaller North Face), given that this may be my final trip, and given that money is tight due to medical treatments etc?
At the moment, I own several Evergoods backpacks and slings. I also own (or semi-own, shared with my partner) an old-style, bright red, plasticky-looking Patagonia Black Hole duffel in 55L (I hate the colour and look of it, only got it as it was like $100 USD off). Other than that, I just have a medium-size American Tourister suitcase.
Anyway, long story short, I'd like to get a new duffel. Part of it is that I've always hated the shiny look of the Patagonia duffels - no longer an issue with this 2024 update. But it has annoyed me for years, our bright red Patagonia 😡
It would be used primarily for trips 1-2 weeks long, naturally sometimes just a weekend trip, pretty much always domestically. I'm someone who struggles to pack smartly and minimally - especially in winter. So that's something to consider, but I'm getting back into it, meaning the whole "minimalist" carrying thing.
I would largely have the ability to wash my clothes on the go. It would need to fit: probably enough clothes for five days, including business shoes + a toiletries/dopp kit (using an Evergoods CAP2 for this) + a medicines kit (have a number of health issues, again, using a different CAP2 for this) + ideally my Birkenstocks (I wear Converses on my days off, business shoes for work naturally and nice dinners, and the Birkenstocks for little things like walking down the road to the local supermarket, or taking the laundry out to hang it up etc).
But I can live without the Birkenstocks on trips, so it would be: wearing Converses with business shoes in the duffel. Naturally, laptop + power bank + most medicines (especially important for my Ritalin) + a book + cables + whatever else can go in my Evergoods 24L CPL. And then with my sling to take out each day to explore.
So I am not sure whether to get the Patagonia or the North Face, in the 40 (Patagonia), 55L (Patagonia), or the North Face in S or M. Sadly, where I live, it is more or less impossible to see them in person before buying. I have the 55L Patagonia, as I said, and other than the coloutextile, the main things I don't like are: a) lack of internal organisation (not improved for the 2024 version I believe), and b) when not crammed full, it sags and lacks structure.
I'm hoping this is a bag I can use for many years to come, and I'm just sick of having to use my suitcase all the time (just that it's big, chunky, obnoxious). For other types of travel I've got an Osprey backpack that I pair with my sling for exploring during the day.
So yes, my questions are:
  1. What size would be appropriate, given it will be largely for one to two week trips, with me not being great at packing smartly and minimally, with the options being 40L, 55L or 71L, but with the option of washing say once every 5-7 days?; and
  2. Which brand/product is better - durability, cost, value, look, warranty etc?
I will say - I love the "look" of the Patagonia, especially in the matte blue finish. Other than that, I'm open to jumping ship to the North Face, if needed. Final thing is the price - I can get the 40L Patagonia (new design) for $185 AUD, so ~$120 USD, I can get the 55L Patagonia (new design) for around $200 AUD, so ~$130 USD, and the North Face M for $175 AUD, so ~$115 USD.
The North Face is therefore around $100 AUD cheaper than normal, meaning, $100 AUD cheaper than the standard price for the bag, being $70 USD cheaper, as it is on clearance (making it a great deal, in my opinion, but again, happy to spend more on a Patagonia if it will be a better bag for me). That's specifically for the "Timber Tan" colour, which I quite like. It also boils down to the size - I hate it when a bag is too big for what you need it for.
It's the reason I sold my Evergoods MPL30 and CPL28. I'm 6'2", so it wasn't an issue of them being too big for my frame - just too big for my EDC. And that feeling of not wanting "too much room" transfers across to duffels. But then again, it's shit when you are packing for a trip and can't even fit the essentials - especially my CAP2 medicines kit and CAP2 toiletries bag, they take up a fair bit of space.
In so many ways, the 40L Patagonia would be perfect - lifetime warranty as far as I know, and a company dedicated to saving the environment. Plus it is small enough to take as carry-on when flying, I think, and I much prefer the new Patagonia design over the North Face design. But I don't want to come across as sold on the Patagonia! The North Face, for me, seems to have the advantages of that extra external pocket and compression straps. I don't know that there's too much else for it.
Thanks so much for any help. Going through a tough time in my life, and this is just a little thing to look forward to and it will make imagining my next holiday easier, which would be so nice, if I do get to holiday again 💛👌🏻
PS - can also get the Bellroy "Venture Duffel" 55L for $200 AUD, so ~$130 USD, or the North Face "Base Camp Voyager Duffel" 42L for $245 AUD, so ~$160 USD. I love Bellroy, the bag looks amazing, but I hate that they don't stand by their products and offer a lifetime/much longer warranty. And I don't know what the difference is between the "Base Camp Voyager" and the standard "Base Camp" duffel? If anyone knows, please let me know.
Okay, rant over. Truly, any assistance would mean the world to me - the kindness of strangers is getting me through life right now.

(shower running, knocking)
Hey, love you almost done? We need to head out in about 45 minutes. Okay well just let me know if you need anything.
(Shower turns off, door opens and closes)
Oh hey there hun, are you okay? Are you sure? Okay, Hun just let me know if you need anything.
What’s that? Oh, you need my opinion on an outfit, okay I’m coming.
(Footsteps)
Where are you, hun? Babe, you look amazing. Yes, I mean it, baby.
I know I already asked you this but are you sure you’re okay? No, you just look like you’re in pain, you know if something is wrong you can tell me, right?
Why didn’t you just tell me you’re on your period, you know it doesn’t bother me.
Oh honey come here, I have never and will never think you’re gross. How are you feeling right now? Crampy, tired, nauseous, and you have a headache, if you were feeling this bad why didn’t you tell me sooner?
How many times do I need to tell you that you will never and have never been a burden to me? Do you want to stay home tonight?
No, I won’t be mad if you don’t want to go. If you’re not feeling well then we don’t need to go. It's not like we can’t make reservations for another night.
Babe look at me, we don’t need to go if you don’t want to. Love, our friends will understand, no one will be upset, we can go out with them anytime.
Okay, okay, you're fine I understand. I hate when they say they’re fine when they aren’t
(The speaker thinks to themself, the speaker's phone starts ringing)
I’m texting Mia telling her I’m not feeling well so we can’t make it tonight. I don’t know what it is but I just got this random headache…. Why are you giving me the face?
What do you mean you know what I’m doing?
(Dramatic gasp)
I’m offended how dare you accuse me of lying to our friends about not feeling well so you don’t have to go out when you’re not feeling well.
(speaker says in a sarcastic tone)
But now that we’re not going you can get in your pjs and I’ll get some snacks. Ah no, we are not going tonight. I already canceled. We can go out when you feel better.
I don’t know what you’re talking about, I said when I feel better
(the speaker laughs softly)
You change into some comfy clothes and meet me in the living room in like 15 minutes, okay?
You look comfy over there
(speaker laughs softly)
No, I'm not making fun of you. I’m just saying you look cute all curled up in the corner of the couch with a blanket so comfortable.
Yes, I grabbed the snacks and I got you some Advil and tea, yeah I’ll just set the mug right here. Do you want any water or maybe a Gatorade or anything else? Oh yeah right, I’ll go grab the heating pad, anything else? Okay hun I’ll go grab the heating pad but if you change your mind and want anything else let me know
Okay, love here is your heating pad. It’s no problem just let me plug it in real quick. How does that feel?
Awesome now let me get you your book, the remote, and your laptop in case you want to play any video games. I could also get the Xbox out of our room and hook it up here. What do you want to do Hun.
Of course we can cuddle, come here love, how are you feeling? I’m glad you're feeling better. Do you want to watch something?
(speaker chuckles softly)
Is there anything else you want to watch other than that? Why must you torture me with that face?
(Speaker laughs and sighs)
Fine, since you’re not feeling well and tonight is your night I guess we can watch it.
Wow that’s an immediate mood change
(speaker chuckles)
Yes you can have the chips
(chip bag crinkling)
There you go my love. Oh you want the ice cream too, yeah let me go get it out of the freezer… Babe I kinda need you to let go of me if you want me to get the ice cream.
Come on love, okay you need to choose do you want me to cuddle you or do you want me to get the ice cream?
(Speaker laughs)
No you can’t have both. Don’t give me those eyes babe you know they’re my weakness.
Fine, come here, yes I’m picking you up. This is the only way you can cuddle me while I get the ice cream, do you want me to put you down and leave you on the couch? That’s what I thought
(Footsteps, freezer opens)
Which flavor do you want? Okay there you go, no let’s get you a spoon and we can go back to the couch.
(drawer opens, metal utensils hitting each other, drawer closes, footsteps)
Now let’s set you down right there, and I’ll sit right next to you.
(Speaker kisses the listeners forehead)
Are you comfortable, love? I’m glad, now let’s get the TV going. I love you too sweetheart.

2024.05.14 05:36 concernedindianguy Looking for a Windows Laptop for work - India

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
₹100,000 (INR)
Are you open to refurbs/used?
No. Looking for new only.
How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Looking for something like an ultrabook. No 2-in-1s and no touchscreen. It will be used primarily for MS Office. I travel every fortnight for work, looking for something lightweight and durable.
How important is weight and thinness to you?
Carry laptop every day to work and travel every fortnight. It should not be as heavy as a gaming laptop. Don't carry a backpack (I use an office bag).
Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
Between 13 and 6 inches.
Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Occasional use of Photoshop. Will be primarily used for work (MS Office).
If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
NA.
Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
A good full-sized keyboard with a number pad is preferred. I also would like to use the key, which acts like a right click (I know Windows has the option to reprogram keys).
Reliable build quality is preferable.
No touchscreen (I am not interested in using it at all). I will not buy if a touchscreen option is offered.
Finger print reader would be welcome, but not a dealbreaker.
I want a good set of ports (I don't want to use a dock like I do with my MacBook). I'd like a full-size HDMI and USB 3.0+ port.
Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
I'm currently using a MacBook Air M2 and am blown away by the battery capacity and the keyboard. I'll be giving my girlfriend the MacBook and buying a Windows.
I'm looking for something unassuming and preferably quiet (not a loud fan). The laptop will not see heavy use, but I'd like a solid build quality just because of my frequent travel.
I'm willing to stretch my budget to +20%, but that is the absolute upper limit.

Hey everyone,
Just at Kansai International Airport and I'm sitting on the ground with my laptop connected to charge (I know I probably look a bit out of place I have been here about an hour).
A police officer came up to me and asked to see my passport and wrote some details down. He seemed friendly and told me nothing was wrong
Should I be worried? Or Is it just because I've been somewhat hanging around out of place, it's just because my flight doesn't leave for another 6 hours and I can't drop my bags for another 3
I know the rules say no border policy questions but I don't think that really ties into that? I'm just not too sure really

Parting with my medium cloud bag and my floral laptop case
Cloud is color seaweed and in EUC. Asking $50. Laptop case is in EUC from front, but some kind of funky fading on the back (see pictured). Asking $20. I’ve just been reaching for my crescent bag more and find I don’t need either of these and prefer they get use over sit in my closet! I’m in NYC but can ship within contiguous us. Shipping = $6

2024.05.14 05:06 SaxtonHorsepower Bag check at the arena viewing party

Has anyone gone to one of the away game viewing parties and noticed if they're doing the usual bag check tent thing that they have at games? Going to the one tomorrow from work and I'll have a little backpack with laptop in it. Might be small enough to take into the arena but I doubt they allow laptops through in any case.

2024.05.14 04:19 laufeypink Why is my mother treating me like this?

Hi po, I just wanna share/rant my experience with me and my mom. Long short story my mom hates me and she likes my kuya. Alam ko na yun since bata pa and tanggap ko. My parents are separated nung bata pa ako. Lumaki ako with my grandparents since yung mom ko is an OFW, while yung father ko walang pake samin namay pake? lol. Pinatigil ako ng mama ko this sec sem (I’m an arki student) kase ginastos ko yung pera for tuition fee (1K) the reason why ginastos ko bcs hindi ako pinadalhan ng father ko for my school materials which is hindi naman bago. And I already told my mom na hindi nanaman mag bibigay ng pera si papa kase wala syang pera and need niya bumili for his maintenance. But ayaw niya ako bigyan kase naka budget na lahat. But I need materials for my plates and materials for others subs so no choice ako. Nung nalaman niya na kulang ng 1k yung pang tuition fee ko kase ng sumbong yung kuya ko. They decided na mag stop ako. I was so devastated that time, and they only send me 500pesos for 4days for my allowance. Nag reklamo ako kase hindi kaya ng 500 for 4days. And I need a laptop nung midterm to final exam kase mag ddigital na kami but hindi nila ako binigayn. My mom told me na maghanap ka nang paraan problema mo na yan. So I asked help for my friends and blockmates. Kaso di talaga kaya ng time kase mahina yung wifi sa campus and they also need it. Well ofc bagsak ako sa subject na yun kase hindi ako nakakapasa ng project. Hiyang hiya ako kase wala akong laptop during our exams kase photoshop yung exam namin nung midterm and prelim. Nang matapos na yung semester umuwi nako samin dala2 lahat ng gamit ko and nalaman ko na binilhan pala ni mama si kuya ng brand new laptop for next sem. And until now hindi niya ako binibigyan ng allowance for my needs.
P.S. sorry for the grammar and typo na iiyak kase ako while typing this and wala pakong tulog. Thank you for reading.

2024.05.14 04:03 Ikeelu Cannot Verify Airpods Pro

So When I took over my old position at work, my old supervisor left his airpods pro that work bought for him to use with his work iphone. I cleaned them up really well and decided to keep them for my work device since I knew they probably wouldn't get me my own pair being so new in the position. They connected fine and worked great, but I gave that work phone up and changed positions. I still have the airpods pro and couldn't get them to connect to any non apple device now. I just tried to connect it to my bros iphone thinking maybe it just needs an update, well it says it cannot verify. I did Apples website verification to make sure the markings and model numbers match and no issue, they all are in line with what they are supposed to be. Ive used other airpods pros, they sounded the same. Anyways Ive forgotten the device and reconnected it several times, but cant get them to not show cannot verify, so I cant update them either. I don't really need the headphones, but they would be a great set to throw in my laptop bag to use with that. So I'm wondering why these headphones cant be verified, updated, or connect to any non apple device.

2024.05.14 03:04 savepiggy What's the better version of Lululemon's Double-Zip Backpack 22L???

After looking at like, every single bag on earth for the last 2 months and being unable to pick one, I finally bought the Lululemon Double-Zip Backpack 22L last week out of desperation for 98 dollars. Of all the bags I looked at, it actually hit the most checkboxes for me:
Why am I asking for a better version? A, because I conceptually hate lululemon and do not want to buy anything from them (but I was desperate as I could not pick something and had no bags big enough to hold all my gear). B, I am sure that this quality is not great and nervous that the zippers are going to break or something. The laptop sleeve zipper doesn't feel great.
Now that I know what I like, I just want this bag to be made by someone else.
Any recommendations? TIA

2024.05.14 03:03 Principle_Efficient Need a mouse recommendation

Looking for a small white gaming mouse to keep in my backpack for my laptop. I currently use the g305 but it’s a little heavy, and I don’t want to use a mouse with batteries. I would like something pretty lightweight. I’m generally pretty safe with my bag so durability isn’t a huge concern, plus I have a bunch of silk Rubik’s cube bags I can keep it in to prevent scratching. Any recommendations? Price is not a concern.
