2024.05.24 00:37 Afraid-Penalty-757 I would love a comic series about Carmine Falcone's rise to power as Gotham City's untouchable crime lord?

Lately, I’ve been rereading Batman Year One & Batman the long Halloween and I just can't but want a comic series on the rise of the mob families in Gotham mainly Carmine and the Falcone Crime family rise to prominence?
Considering how the mob families were the precursors to the super villains and how powerful they were by the time of Batman Year One. I think it would be cool to cover the rise of the mob families like The Falcones and The Maronis and how they came to power and their war in Gotham prior to Batman and Gordon.
Either make it a full graphic novel, limited or even maxiseries and titled it either “The Family Falcone.” or ''The Roman.'' or even something like ''Rise of the Roman.'' since the story would take place before Year One and Long Halloween thus making it a prequel to the entire Batman Mythos of sorts what do think about that?
My main inspiration would be not by a comic but one of my personal favorite novels Star Wars: Darth Plagueis where not only it is a book about the relationship of Plagueis and Palpatine but also serve as a tapestry of EU references so this series should be something similar to this being a tapestry of Batman mythos like Year One and other beloved/legendary works.
Besides developing Carmine as a young man and his father Vincent there would be also a expansion focus on the Falcone-Maroni War like developing more of Sal Maroni's fahter Luigi showing him in his prime as well as showing the moment where he almost kill Carmine to the point that Vincent ask Thomas Wayne to save his son essentially a retelling of that flashback scene from Long Halloween. Speaking of which other then Thomas Wayne which would this series would delve how he become enter a business partnership with Vincent Falcone most of the wayne family involvement of the story like Young Bruce Wayne would be minimal.
Granted the only downside for making this series telling Carmine rise to power would be all the gotham curses, court of owls, and other additions to the Batman lore these days it'd be interesting if they kept it separate or looped those aspects in.
If I was a writer I could try to keep it in canon or at first make it an elseworld story laying the groundwork for future comics kinda like how the Killing Joke was at first considered an elseworld story but it was so beloved that to the point that DC made it canon. I think the same could happened with this story?Besides incorporating maybe the court of owls either as full or just cameos what other characters would incorporated to connected the greater universe like with the Star Wars Novel Darth Plagueis is the tapestry of the EU or just said a general crime drama set in Gotham before Batman either before Bruce's born or during his childhood but before the murder of the waynes.
In addition of returning characters like say Arnold Flass and Commissioner Loeb especially learning more about how the latter how he become commissioner and being part of Falcone payroll before gordon arrival at gotham. I think the biggest one would have to be the Court of Owls.
The Falcone Crime family is supposed to be an expansive organization that controls much of Gotham. Yet we now have yet another expansive organization that is actually pulling the strings behind Gotham. Was Falcone aware of this other organization? Did he operate under them or in spite of them?
The interaction of building a criminal empire under the watch of an even larger criminal organization would be an interesting story. Otherwise I'd be good a story with just the general crime drama tropes set in Gotham.
Regardless outside of using Darth Plagueis as a foundation or the main inspiration for this story what are other inspirations would you use to make this story for an example Frank Miller use the film Taxi Driver for Year One while Loeb use the film the godfather for Long Halloween.) as well as added some connections with other batman stories like not just The Court of Owls, but also the classics like Year One, Long Halloween, Catwoman in Italy, and Dark Victory?
Also if you were a writer or editor at the editor at DC comics would you have it be a full graphic novel, or mini/limited series or even a maxi series and what new ideas or additions in the story would you add for not just this Rise of Falcone family and Carmine becoming the most powerfully crime boss in gotham but also for the Batman mythos? Finally how would you portrayed the characters like young Carmine and his father Vincent Falcone as well as the Maronis like Luigi and Sal?

2024.05.24 00:36 Litweaver Do I have a shot getting into a GOOD international university?

Hey, everyone!
I recently finished my undergraduate degree in Tele-Radio Communications with emphasis on News (yay!). I’m not gonna go into grad school directly since I’m gonna be working for a year. However, I do plan on taking on grad school once the year is over.
My foremost options are International Relations / Public Affairs / Economics / Diplomacy / World History.
I’m not really interested in going into research, more so the knowledge and possible job prospects that the degrees in question can give me.
I want to go to a top school in Europe, like maybe Cambridge, Oxford or LSE. Maybe even a T15 in North America. I don’t actually know at the moment.
I did graduate Summa Cum Laude (3.96) and have a good number of internships in and out of my country, two awards, and very nice letters of recommendation.
Do I have a shot at getting into a international university and getting financial aid?
Thank you everybody in advanced!

I’m listening to the biography of Steve Jobs on Amazon Audible. I’m at the chapter where the iPod was first invented, and marketed to the public.
Apparently, Microsoft developed the Zune to compete with the iPod and barely made 5% of the iPod sales. I’m curious, did anyone in here use a Zune back in the day? Was it any good?

2024.05.24 00:34 AnalysisGreen2657 PHA - BEHAVIORAL HEALTH

Hello to all,
I am a staff officer and I have been in the Guard for 9 years with no prior health problems. Unfortunately, my mom has been fighting cancer stage IV since 2020 and I we are loosing the fight.
This situation has naturally increased my anxiety levels and in a preventive measure I decided to go to a psychiatrist and a psychologist (I know for a fact that both of them work better together). I was prescribed with Lexapro and Klonopin in April and have been since then using them in conjunction with my psychotherapy. ( I haven’t used Klonopin in a while and I think that my doctor will not prescribe again due to my progress).
The treatment is working and I have reduced my anxiety levels to normal in the last couple of weeks. I am stable and have no limitations in my civil / military duties.
I went to PHA and disclosed my treatment to the social worker and she put me on a management program, requested a letter from my psychologist and gave 30 days. My psychologist is already working on it and she told me that she will put in it that I am stable and have no limitations in job duties. My Chain of Command is also aware of my situation and my BN Commander told me that he has my back and is supportive.
I am worried because the social worker told me that I could be Med Boarded if I do not finish my treatment within a year and that really bothers me because I really like my job at the Guard and as stated before, I am fully functional. I am not on any profile for the moment, they will evaluate my psychologist letter and decide if they close the case or put me in a temporary profile for 90 days.
Can anyone tell me how long do I have to complete my treatment before it can trigger an MEB? And if I have a timeline, how can I get of a temporary profile in case one is put in place.
Thank you for your time and answers.

2024.05.24 00:33 gpsrecalculating "Seeking Advice on Potential Gender Discrimination and Workplace Burnout"

I work in California for a very large corporation and have been with the company for 5 years. Recently, I discovered that my male coworker, who has only been with the company for 1 year, earns $100,000 more than I do. Although he is about 10 years older than me, we hold the same position, and I actually have more responsibilities than he does.
I feel undervalued and overworked. When I recently requested vacation time, my boss told me I needed to work ahead to cover my shifts because he couldn't find someone to fill in, despite me having 4 weeks of unused vacation time. This is the first time I've requested time off, and I feel like I'm just a workhorse for the company.
I'm feeling burnt out, depressed, and used. I believe this could be a case of gender discrimination, but I'm not sure if I have the energy to pursue legal action. I don't know whether to move forward with a lawsuit or just be grateful that I have a job. Can anyone offer advice on what steps I should take?

Hey there, Reddit! I'm your fairly standard introvert--shy, but I warm up to people pretty quickly, and once I do I'll chat your ear off! 😂 I also like syncing up for activities together, from game nights to watching something together to simply VCing. Looks-wise, I'm ghostly pale white, with brown hair, and with a stick-like slim build. But what about my actual hobbies and interests? You know, things we can actually bond over! Well luckily for you, I've got a lot of them!
Unfortunately, there is a catch: I'm physically disabled. More specifically, I have a neuromuscular disease that has, among other things, left me wheelchair-bound and just in general sickly. I understand that can be a bit overwhelming, and I'm happy to go into more detail and answer any questions you might have.
Still here? Great! Let's go over what I am and am not looking for in you:
And that's about it! If anyone is left at this point (doubt it 😅), I'd love to hear from you! Let me know your A/S/L and a little bit about you. =)

2024.05.24 00:31 Big-Cryptographer769 Undecided on this article (+ some other thoughts/ideas)

Undecided on this article (+ some other thoughts/ideas)
States the obvious problems, and populist viewpoints but the solutions offered seem out of touch (gives off ladder pulling energy) or only go to a superficial soundbite depth. Also Poland’s health service- is it a legitimately good example to use (or one that sounds good in theory but in practice didn’t really work/ wouldn’t work here)?
Some thoughts/ discussion I’ve had following reading the article ( probably not massively in-depth either, yes irony is not lost on me, but are more what comes to mind first/ideas off the top of my head):
I agree with: -the wastage, lack of meritocracy (through lack of progression/incentives, removing competition, and undermining the roles of Doctors and the job and underfunding training spots= brain drain from the UK)
  • generally the bloating of management and wasted money on poorly planned projects or contracting out services- when if given the right incentives and conditions it could be done from in house/developing staff up from within- end result not be as expensive/better quality by less contracts to private companies?
Personally, a thought I’ve considered (this may or not be controversial) but resolving the dispute with the government would be not necessarily an outright base salary increase to fpr, and instead conceding to a smaller pay rise with guarantees* along with other changes that would involve some financial, career, personal and work-life benefits which I will mention later.
*This concession would be agreed to as long as there would be an initial rise followed by subsequent non-breakable agreements contractually to increases in basic pay rates at all grades over a set timeframe- eg yearly or two yearly etc and at a set %)
In terms of changes/ ideas to have as part of the agreement.
The government (and/or trusts/boards/authorities) pays for:
-our degrees (perhaps in contract of a minimum term of service in the NHS) with additional bonuses for time served (on top of salary progression through different grades) for those who stay on longer after the minimum term (I think I am correct in believing the armed forced do similar). So no student loan debt payments being taken off our payslips and incentivising/rewarding staying in the nhs.
  • indemnity, licence, exam fees etc etc the “hidden costs” of being a doctor and continued training.
  • insert- anything else you think the government could pay for?
~
On a less financial theme, the government and relevant bodies should listen to us to on issues (and ensure changes are made under our advice/we have greater say). These include (but please add your opinions/ideas):
Lesser focus expansion of medical degree places (instead actually modernising and improving the standard of UG education and the curriculum- shortening the degree by one year, paying final years throughout the year or in the latter half of final year to be almost like “fy0” to help transitioning in).
Management wise: Maybe creating a specific, dual faceted active clinical/managerial programme of training to allow creation of managers at differing clinical grades and still let them have the ability to practice and advance through clinical training/specialty training - which granted may take longer when accounting for the management work). The end goal of this being increasing the number of currently practicing clinical staff being clinical leads/managers even if not at consultant or senior specialty levels (so a better representative view and influence on decisions can be made at the boards/authorities etc).
Essentially this would be trying to create an element of self sufficiency/autonomy amongst doctors and greater influence in the nhs- where we have more managers (who are doctors or nurses etc) with current clinical practice and experience of the work climate who have honed managerial skills to be able to also lead and manage the direction of the nhs- this is more looking at the reducing the issues around the divide of the new and older generations of staff, the divide between non clinically experienced staff and clinically experienced staff in management positions, the divide between health boards/authorities etc and the government.
Or would this get too messy/ incur too much conflict of interest?
Would expanding/tweaking existing training for clinical management programmes/schemes work?
~
Other ideas that have already been discussed amongst doctors/ I have seen on here:
Adequate funding and increasing the places of fp/ post graduate specialty training to stop the bottlenecking and overhaul the processes of training allocation and selection- so it still keeps the meritocracy but also doesn’t have such a huge cost to our personal lives in pursuing career progression (i.e deciding between getting a posting/career progress but at the cost of you uprooting somewhere where you know nobody, away from friends, family, partners etc- more control of our training).
Prioritising allocating UK graduates/UK trained doctors to FP/ specialty training posts first before opening up remaining spots to IMGs- correct me if wrong but Australia does this?
Making sure that the role and status of a doctor is reasserted and ensuring as staffing improves we simultaneously ensure we keep the PAs and the likes back into a limited a role and ensure they are being used most efficiently such as aiding our administrative work, doing basic ward work etc. The clinical hierachy has maybe been too flattened currently?
~
Would more of you stay in the UK/ be ok given some of the above ideas with the aim at:
  • having more flexibility and career progress/prospects (with a lower personal/health cost)a better working and living environment
-possibly more money to take home from basic pay (which would have an initial rise but not to fpr level and then subsequent guaranteed annual increases) through less outgoings via paid for training, exam fees, degrees etc- granted I do not know how much that would be value wise per se (when measured against fpr directly).
These things I have wondered about being acceptable; as ultimately yes i want enough to be comfortable financially but possibly concede the fpr value in return for a smaller pay increase with the gains in other areas such as personal/work satisfaction, better career advancement prospects, career training flexibility/control and re-assertion of the role of doctors/working life with systemic changes. Ultimately not getting mega bucks salaries doesn’t bother me, I just want a reasonable salary and being in the public sector I will take a hit (within a certain level) but have a respected job, that is mostly enjoyable and intellectually stimulating.
Or is this an overly concessional take (and I am talking nonsense) that still wouldn’t address the issues we are facing ( and we should still be asking for fpr with things like paying of training, exams, degrees etc).
Would this be acceptable to you? Or would some additional things + current stance to fpr salary be the only way?

2024.05.24 00:29 Working-Delay-2202 Is this normal?

Hey so I’m still new into buying guns and this is my first shot gun. It’s a Tri Star Cobra III.
My first time hunting with it I knicked it on something and this plastic cover started to peel. I’m not sure if all shotguns have a plastic coat over the wood? Or is this not normal. It is starting to peel and I don’t know what to do.
I’m also wondering if that is the case if I could just sand it down and just apply a coat to the wood, let me know what you guys think.
Also I know it’s a cheap shotgun but it gets the job done so done give me shit pls

2024.05.24 00:28 ChristmasTofu New to Lawfirms; Got Offer Rescinded... Why?

Hello!
I was hoping people could give me feedback advice so that I can learn from this experience / evaluate what I just did.
So, I got a non-legal internship offer with a small law firm related to analyst work at the intersection of cyber law and AI. The role was to research upcoming AI trends to see if there's anything the firm should be on the lookout for. While I was excited, I had a question about the role that wasn't answer in the 15 minutes interview (yes, VERY short), so I followed up in an email (which they specifically said, if you had any further questions, just reach out).
In the email, I asked 2 questions: (1) to clarify if my role would have a "non-nominal exposure to compliance law" since the whole point of my taking the internship was to get that legal experience (I'm in tech right now, but want to get a JD in the near future), and (2) if I could get a higher rate given the extra experience I could provide (I wasn't only an analyst, but I could do SWE work, which is something I knew they wanted).
They responded with a generic email saying that rates were already determined for the summer, and that they expect interns to work on a variety of projects.
Okay, sure. No problem, I'm happy to stay with the given rate. However, I felt like this email didn't answer my question. I had mentioned in our 15 minute interview that getting that legal experience was VERY important to me, so if the role did not do this, why would I accept the role, right? So I followed up with another respectful email saying that I was interested in a specific answer to question (1), I was totally okay with the same rate, and that once I get the answer, I'm more than willing to move forward with the role.
So fast forward to today, I then get my offer letter rescinded. The firm told me: "Upon further review and consideration, we have determined that the specific needs of our team have evolved, and we have determined that it is necessary to reassess our requirements for this role. As a result, we are unable to proceed with your internship at this time."
In a previous email, they told me the budget for this summer had been set (which is why they weren't interested in entertaining my ask for a potential raise even though on the job description they mentioned they were willing to increase the rate given appropriate experience). I'm okay if the firm realized that they don't have a need for my internship role, but what I'm trying to understand is if this is "lawyer speak" for saying "we're rejecting you because you asked us a question", or something of the sort.
If someone could give me insight into the problem, I'd really love to learn from this experience!

2024.05.24 00:24 Ajudge9978 Should I re apply to the job offer from three years ago that was retracted?

basically three years ago, I interviewed for a job and they stated i “conditionally” accepted verbally. I gave it a few days over the weekend to think about it, and missed a their call, then i called back and left a voicemail and an email basically saying I couldn’t accept the offer due to transportation reasons.
I received a letter in the mail from the company stating that i conditionally accepted and they retracted the job offer for that specific position. this was three years ago
I never signed anything. or gave any information like social security numbers personally information. The offer was verbal and not even compete without three references or background checks
recently, the same job was posted at the company- do you think it’s alright for me to re apply and be considered for the job since nothing was official or do you think i’m back listed

2024.05.24 00:22 Daves_not_here_mannn [Landlord US-FL]

Everyone on reddit envisions landlords going yacht shopping in their free time and lighting cigars with $100 bills while we kick poor people. I want to tell you guys what MY last 24 hours has been like.
As an aside, I inherited my parents place. My goal is to rent it out to cover the bills until I can give it to my daughter when she’s of age in a few years. So any repairs aren’t lipstick on a pig, but are to keep the place in good enough shape so it’s not junk in a few years.
Had rats get into the attic and chew up AC ductwork ($3000 to fix). Had a wildlife expert come set up traps and make repairs to seal up entry points ($2000). He is out there yesterday working when he walks by the front window. Tenants have dogs, dog lunges…..right through the window. So he calls me in a panic because he is afraid the dog is hurt or will get out. Tenant tapes up window and says they aren’t paying for window because they didn’t know he’d be on site or they would kennel the dogs. Well I had the contractor discussing hours to work directly with the tenant because some work needed to be done inside, and tenants prefer to be there when people are inside, I get it, and respect it. So contractor suggests we split the repair 3 ways. Repair is $330. While I’m certainly not responsible, and don’t feel contractor is either, I agree to keep the peace. I pay in full to repair window and will get square with the others later.
Today he calls, says one of the wood exterior walls is full of water rot and termite damage, which also extends to overhead joists holding roof up. It’s beyond his scope, so we agree to pause that so I can find another contractor to get that straightened out.
While he’s on the phone, I hear neighbor talking to him. Come to find out, there’s a sick raccoon in the road that can barely walk and won’t flee from people. He said it either has rabies or distemper, either way it’s best to put it down humanely. Him being a wildlife removal expert, he can do. Says he can’t shoot it since it’s in a neighborhood, doesn’t want to contaminate traps, so he needs to hit it with a shovel to put it down.
So if you’re keeping track:
$3000 duct repair $2000 to seal up from critters $330 for a window God knows how much for him to beat a raccoon to death.
As an animal lover, it hurts to have to pay someone to kill an animal, but piled on with everything else, it’s been a rough 24 hours.
All of this went down during normal working hours too of course, thankfully my job gives me some freedom to attend to these things.
And if I’m lucky, the rent I charge will cover mortgage, taxes, and insurance. So no more yachts for me this month. 😕

2024.05.24 00:19 Hisbejeneb I’ve been trying to figure out what my type is. I would really appreciate some help.

• How old are you? What's your gender? Give us a general description of yourself.
-I am a 17 year old male from England and I’m currently studying philosophy, sociology and ancient history at college.
• Is there a medical diagnosis that may impact your mental stability somehow?
-I was diagnosed with autism at age 12.
• Describe your upbringing. Did it have any kind of religious or structured influence? How did you respond to it?
-I am an only child and lived in a secular family consisting of just me, my mum and my dad. Both of them were very laid back regarding discipline. One thing that could be said is that they gave me too much unconditional love, especially my mother. This, in turn, resulted in them not really teaching me important life skills and independence for fear of putting me in harms way. Thus, in the past 2 years I’ve had a bit of an awaking and have become hyper independent to remedy the lack of life skills and lessons taught during my early childhood.
• What do you do as a job or as a career (if you have one)? Do you like it? Why or why not?
-My ideal employment, realistically, would be a teacher. I really like the idea of taking on a task and being able to enforce original methods to attain the best possible results. That process is the general principle behind a lot of my interests and teaching is a job where it is present.
• If you had to spend an entire weekend by yourself, how would you feel? Would you feel lonely or refreshed?
-I Would feel refreshed. I get really tired when I’m around people. I think that may come from the fact that I tend to put on an act when I’m interacting with others in order to make them like me. This is a favourable result as the more people you are on good terms with, the more likely they are to be a potential asset to your life as opposed to a possible hinderance.
• What kinds of activities do you prefer? Do you like, and are you good at sports? Do you enjoy any other outdoor or indoor activities?
-I enjoy topics that are synthesised with progressing my main goal(s). For example, I enjoy learning about mbti because it is a component of my main goal to understand myself and thus can help me achieve happiness more effectively as I believe this is the main assignment of life.
• How curious are you? Do you have more ideas then you can execute? What are your curiosities about? What are your ideas about - is it environmental or conceptual, and can you please elaborate?
-I would consider my pursuits of curiosity to be loosely filtered through what may be useful to attaining a personal goal and I don’t often get carried away with ideas that have no overall importance to it. I say loosely because I can’t be certain what will be of importance to my pursuits, so for this reason I sometimes stray a from things that I know will be personally beneficial in the long term for things that could be useful, by virtue of the interconnectedness of everything.
• Would you enjoy taking on a leadership position? Do you think you would be good at it? What would your leadership style be?
-I would really like to take on a leadership position. I think I would be good at figuring out solutions and assigning them to people based on an overall objective. However I do not think I’d be very good at leadership in practice. This is because I’m not very quick at making decisions. Thus, my leadership style would be less about leadership and more being a personal adviser to members of a team to ensure they are all going in the same direction.
• Are you coordinated? Why do you feel as if you are or are not? Do you enjoy working with your hands in some form? Describe your activity?
-I don’t feel as though I’m very physically coordinated. I often have to focus on my environment and my movement at the expense of deeper thought. I’ve never really resonated with the popular notion that walks are therapeutic and thought provoking. For me, they are stressful and prohibit any other thoughts than the ones related to keeping my movement and environment in check.
• Are you artistic? If yes, describe your art? If you are not particular artistic but can appreciate art please likewise describe what forums of art you enjoy. Please explain your answer.
-I enjoy art that operates under the pretence that art is a language. I like art that communicates meaning. The reason why I like this type of art at all when it just seems like, if communication is the primary source of my investment, I should just focus on objective language rather than something as convoluted and prone to misinterpretation as art. To this I say, art elicits emotion and creates an immediate reason to care about the message. Thus, making the point carry to greater extent.
• What's your opinion about the past, present, and future? How do you deal with them?
-Most of my time is devoted to figuring out how to get to a desirable destination in the future. By the same token, the present is also very important to me as it is paramount to the aforementioned goal. The past is the timeframe I spend the least time thinking about when I’m happy. It’s not that I don’t consciously recognise it’s value in being a possible example for the future, it’s just not something I have a propensity to think about. I really only dwell on the past when I’m feeling down.
• How do you act when others request your help to do something (anything)? If you would decide to help them, why would you do so?
-My main reason for helping someone echoes an above mentioned sentiment. I would really only help someone to build good will with them, because it lowers the chances they will be a destructive force in your life. Moreover, they are indebted to you for a time which is always handy.
• Do you need logical consistency in your life?
-The primary system of logic I use is what has utility to achieving a goal. I’m not too bothered about logic for logics sake. I don’t live in the details of subjects and thus don’t care about the underlying logic, just what has the most personal utility.
• How important is efficiency and productivity to you?
-They are both really important to me. I like to see results. I always feel unfulfilled by the notion; I probably could achieve x and therefore there’s no point in doing y. I might switch to this mindset if I’m burned out as a coping mechanism for me not being able to express my desire to be productive. But that just emphasises it’s importance to me if I’m willing to change my beliefs to avoid the sadness brought about by unproductivity.
• Do you control others, even if indirectly? How and why do you do that?
-I control others implicitly by acting overly polite and sometimes resort to people pleasing to gain favour with them. This helps with the fact that I’m pretty dependent on what others think of me and their perceptions of me often supersede or coexist with my own beliefs and observations about myself, even if I can logically reason reason them to be erroneous judgements.
• What are your hobbies? Why do you like them?
-As mentioned in the desired career question, I enjoy hobbies that revolve around implementing original strategies to attain a desirable outcome. Because of this, I enjoy strategy games such total war and chess. once again, as mentioned previously another reason why I enjoy some hobbies is because they contribute to a larger goal. Such as my interest for mbti because, it allows me to understand myself, so I know how best to attain happiness and in turn, fulfil what I consider to be the primary objective of life in its most general form.
• What is your learning style? What kind of learning environments do you struggle with most? Why do you like/struggle with these learning styles? Do you prefer classes involving memorization, logic, creativity, or your physical senses?
• How good are you at strategizing? Do you easily break up projects into manageable tasks? Or do you have a tendency to wing projects and improvise as you go?
-I prefer to have a plan before action. I like to feel as though most things have been decided beforehand and I’m just reading off a to do list written by past me.
• What are your aspirations in life, professionally and personally?
-My professional aspirations are a means to an end. I want to get a job that I enjoy, is stable and provides an income, in the hope that I can stop thinking so much about it and can focus on the more personal aspects of life. Like figuring out how best to achieve happiness after I’ve stabilised my external life.
• What are your fears? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you hate? Why?
-I really fear upsetting people. Partly because I’m scared of how they will react. Especially in ways that could de-stabilise my life. Moreover, as I mentioned previously, I unfortunately have a propensity to need gratification from others and if I upset people I might begin to feel insecure in myself. A lot of what I do can be chalked up to an attempt to attain the admiration of others. I also fear not being able to make my plans and goals come into fruition.
• What do the "highs" in your life look like?
-The highs in my life often involve a dedication to a goal that gets me up every day. I’ll constantly be excited to get one step closer to achieving it. The goal when I’m happy revolves around a more thought out desire for the long term. Furthermore, this is accompanied by a disregard for the appearance of things. In these times I just focus on the character of things and perceive things through a lenses of principles and ideas. Moreover, the type of gratification I seek revolves around my capacity to think.
• What do the "lows" in your life look like?
-By contrast, my lows are aimless at best and destructive at worst. When Im considering the future in these moments I tend to forget about happiness and in turn have a bleak outlook on the future. This leads me to being generally quite unproductive. My gratification seeking becomes much more shallow aswell. It tends to revolve more around appearance and wanting others to view me as attractive. As a result of this I developed anorexia as a byproduct of trying to look more attractive in a period of stress. Moreover, it gave me something to control as I feel an excessive need to do this when I’m stressed.
• How attached are you to reality? Do you daydream often, or do you pay attention to what's around you? If you do daydream, are you aware of your surroundings while you do so?
-I do daydream, Though not as much as I used to. When I daydream it’s usually to test how something I wish to do might go if I were to do it.
• Imagine you are alone in a blank, empty room. There is nothing for you to do and no one to talk to. What do you think about?
-I would consider the main reason for my beliefs again and make updates to it that would eventually trickle down to actionable changes. If I didn’t manage to find any faults in my beliefs and principles of conduct I would keep my goal the same and think about things I could do to achieve it.
• How long do you take to make an important decision? And do you change your mind once you've made it?
-It usually takes me a little while to come to a decision, particularly if it has long term consequences, as I like to look at the external factors and see if they would suit me internally and/or if it would be beneficial to me in the future. Once I’ve come to a decision on a matter, ideologically I think it is best to stick to it because you can maximise the benefits that a particular path can provide. However, if the evidence changes and it contradicts the original reason for making the decision I will change my mind.
• How long do you take to process your emotions? How important are emotions in your life?
-It usually takes me a while to figure out my emotions. They often appear feint and undefined even though I know there’s something there. When I felt really down for months I couldn’t seem to validate my own emotions. To remedy this I tried to keep a journal collecting statistics including whether I cried, how many times? For how long? Have you self harmed in any way? this created a picture from which I could derive a conclusion. However, I have recently begun to value emotions much more than I did. Previously, I would’ve consciously neglected them. However, ever since I developed anorexia and had a really long period of time where I felt negative emotions I realise how powerful they are and how they must be utilised in your favour otherwise life wouldn’t be worth living.
• Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going? How often? Why?
-This is something I do quite often with people I’m not acquainted with, as I value the utility of a social connection more than convincing a few people of my beliefs. However, it happens less with people who I know well enough to comfortably make the assertion that an ideological disagreement wouldn’t jeopardise the relationship.
• Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged, or that they know better? If you do break rules, why?
-I avoid rule breaking that could lead to excessive repercussions. Since I purvey my conduct with the main intention of long term personal fulfilment some consequences that impede this mean that I generally obey rules. However if the consequences are avoidable and/or inconsequential I have no problem breaking those rules. Like cheating in exams for example.

2024.05.24 00:19 Hour_Some Can my personal income make me ineligible for OSAP?

This might seem like a silly question, but has anyone had issues with OSAP because of their personal income (as a student)? I made over 17k in this tax year, but have no sizeable savings because my dad lost his job and I needed to help with the house and cover my costs completely... I know I should have saved more, but I've learned my lesson.
I'm concerned now that I may have messed up my eligibility for OSAP because of significant earnings... Am I no longer considered a dependent, even if I'm a full-time high school student? And if I'm rejected for OSAP, I think my university scholarship could also be taken away and I would have absolutely no funding. I'm generally just anxious about affording school, so if anyone has any knowledge about this, I would really appreciate it!

2024.05.24 00:15 Hisbejeneb I’m trying to discover my type and I think I might be an INTJ. Would anyone be willing to help?

• Do you need logical consistency in your life?
-The primary system of logic I use is what has utility to achieving a goal. I’m not too bothered about logic for logics sake. I don’t live in the details of subjects and thus don’t care about the underlying logic, just what has the most personal utility.

2024.05.24 00:15 AnalysisGreen2657 PHA - Behavioral Healt
